DPXDC Prompt #72
One thing Danny hated about being a halfa is you don’t age. Unfortunately this also means that when you’re de-aged to age 10 you stay at age 10. The GIW did some awful things before they were disbanded but Danny stayed in the realms. He was their king after all. Thousands of years go by and the Justice League decides to summon the Ghost King to deal with a major threat (you can pick what it is) and they summon a 10 year old. Danny decides he’s going to mess with the people of this world.

Not so Fake
Masterlist
Tim stationed himself in the third sitting room in the Manor. It was the closest to the kitchen, and furthest from the bedrooms and entrance of the manor. In other words, the perfect hiding spot from his overactive family that have united to try and make Tim rest. The only member that would find him right away would be Alfred, who already left him a cup of tea with a few of his cookies along with one of his laptops.
A note left on top stating that Alfred expected him to actually relax, and spotting the stickers Tim could tell this was his personal laptop. Taking Alfred seriously, Tim booted up YouTube and decided to watch his new favorite, GalacticPhantom, or Danny. He had found the channel a few months ago when one of his search engines caught a mention of Tim Drake and Red Robin being the same person.
The video in question had started off with a very well made video of the camera zooming down from a space view of the Earth to Danny’s home town, through his window and coming to a screeching halt in front of Danny and his friend Wes. The opening was highly impressive to Tim and the twenty-five minute video that followed had Tim wanting to pull his hair out.
Everything Wes said was true, completely true.
Tim was absolutely stunned and terrified because the other teen had managed to fully pull together who Red Robin was without even being in Gotham. The only thing that stopped Tim from calling a meeting about it, was that no one in the comments believed him. Instead Wes was mocked with the tried and true, ‘what do the butts match?’. He ended up watching every video under the playlist, ‘Wes the Detective’ and every single video hit right on the money but absolutely no one believed him.
Well, no one but his friends it seemed. Tim had a couple theories about it and if it wasn’t for the fact that Wes has his identity clock he’d be staking out the town now. So he chose to stick to the theory that Wes was incredibly smart, but cursed in some way.
However today Danny had posted a new video and Tim could barely wait to watch it. The title was called ‘This thing wont leave me alone.’ and the thumbnail showed a screaming Danny holding a broom with a humanism but clearly not human girl spiderman to his ceiling seemingly hissing at him.
Tim grinned as he pressed play and settled back into the couch to watch. As the intro came to an end it found Danny in the closet of his bedroom speaking into the camera as if he was documenting his last moments.
“Hello everyone and welcome back to my channel.” He whispered softly only stopping at a noise outside the door that sounded like nails scratching against something. “What the—” the chittering of a badger interrupted him to cover his curse. “Today I’m hiding in my closet because this demon thing showed up and won’t leave me alone.” Something being knocked over in the background was heard causing Danny to freeze again. “I am taking my stand though, I have my makeshift weapon and-and I’m gonna face it. In the event that I don’t come out of this alive, Tucker you can have my Doomed character, Sam just ask them out already, Val you can sell all my stuff, and Wes I’m sorry I gaslight everyone in school that one time into thinking you weren’t real.”
“That was—you Danny, oh you better hope you don’t survive after this!” Wes snapped from behind the camera, his curse being covered by bird chirps, and a second later Tucker’s head popped up from the bottom right screen.
“You’re focusing on that rather than the fact Danny said that all to the screen like we weren’t even here.” Danny shushed them all dramatically holding his broom in front of him like a weapon.
“It is time. Remember me views, remember me.”
“So—dramatic.” Sam is heard but not shown on camera, soon after Danny is shown bursting out of the closet startling the humanoid creature with white hair and bright neon green eyes.
Tim assumes the creature is one of their little siblings decked out in a creepy cosplay, a really creepy one that Sam definitely had to have a hand in making.
The girl immediately starts screeching and hissing at Danny who starts screaming back before starting to swat at her with the broom. Only for her to drop on all four and start crawling around to dodge him.
“Why won’t you stay still!!” Danny cried out as he panted slightly out of breath. The girl let out an evil cackle starting to crawl toward him and the others fast as he head began to turn to the point that it was upside down. Everything was silent before Danny began screaming hysterically while hitting the girl with the broom before she managed to jump on him and they began to fight. The video cut off right as the girl got a good hit on his nose, only to come back to Danny back in the closet with a bloody nose.
“You okay man?” Wes asked from behind the camera as Danny just stared dazed ahead. Danny turned to him, eyes unfocused as he stared at the camera.
“Do-do I call an exorcist? Do we have exorcists around us? Bro I have a demon in my house, and my parents who are ghost hunters can’t even detect it. What do I do?”
“Danny, I think she might have broken your Lego space shuttle.” Val was heard and seconds later Danny was shown back outside the closet in a screaming match with her while fist fighting and rolling all over the ground.
“THAT LEGO SET COST ME FOUR MONTHS ALLOWANCE!!”
“I’M GOING TO MAKE YOU REGRET BREAKING IT!”
“ALL I DID WAS HIT YOU WITH A BROOM!”
The girl seemed to be responding to him in either gibberish, or a language they created. Which only seemed to anger Danny more.
“ENGLISH! SPEAK ENGLISH!!” The girl paused, stopping herself from landing a solid punch to his cheek before grinning at the confused teen.
“No.” Danny seemed stunned before anger took over again and the fight continued.
“You can_____speaking english! You____daughter of a______!!” The feed cut off before returning to Danny who was sitting on the bed of his wrecked room. The girl in question nowhere to be seen as Val cleaned some blood off Danny's cheek with a grin.
“I don’t know where she went, but I know she is still in my house. Tune in next time I find her because she better have some money to pay me back for my lego set. Thanks for stopping to watch this episode of mine and until next time, don’t let the ghosts get ya.”
“That was pretty interesting.” Dick said as he stole a cookie from Tim’s plate. “Are all his videos like that?” Tim didn’t even blink at his brother's sudden appearance as he moved to type out a comment.
“For the most part, ya. He’s a shit poster, his content is just a tun of stuff that is so outrageous and realistic but clearly not real.”
‘That fight gave off peak sibling energy. It’s giving, I’m gonna fight my sibling to the death because of one slight inconvenience.’
Jason hummed as he picked his book back up, dropping down in front of the couch to reread Pride and Prejudice. “Ya he was definitely fighting his little sister. He held back too much and she wasn’t pulling her punches.”
“Only Drake would spend his time watching pointless videos.” Damien huffed, causing Tim to roll his eyes.
“Awe Dami, you know Tim is on mandatory rest. No work of any kind.” Dick grinned before jumping up, wrapping his arms around Damien and dragging him down onto the couch.
“Richard!! Let me go this instant!!” Damien screamed struggling to get away from his octopus of an older brother.
“No! I need my little brother cuddles and I need them from my Dami! No escape for you now.” Damian kept fighting Dick’s hold for the next twenty-five minutes while Tim put another of Danny’s videos on and rewatched it with Jason and Dick watching as well. The video in question was one where Danny went through a locker with his friends and went back in time to when his school first opened. Jason snorted, commenting on them making everything black and white. Danny meets a seemingly see-through kid named Sidney Poindexter and it ends with the two of them having a dance off.
“Bruce, why the fuck are your kids watching a video of a kid dancing with an Infinite Relams ghost?” Tim paused, staring blankly at his computer screen before turning to look at Bruce and John Constantine. “Wow holy shit, the Infinite Realms rarely interact with us since Luthor let the Anti-Ecto Acts pass. Yet that kid is interacting with one like their friends.”
“You’re saying this shits real?” Jason asked, closing his book looking at the screen more interested.
“Language Master Jason.” Alfred said as he walked in from a tray of tea for everyone.
“Sorry Alfred.” John nodded as he moved closer, eyes trained on Poindexter.
“If it is not real it is still more similar than could be possible. They’ve definitely had interactions with the Realms.”
“Wait, what are the Anti-Ecto Acts?” Tim asked his attention zeroing in on John.
“Well fuck, you don’t know? It affects like all of you, thought for sure you’d know. Shit this is gonna take so long to explain. We’re gonna have to call a JL meeting for this explanation because I’m not doing it twice.”

DP x DC AU: Letters and Paper goods are easy to store, and therefore, easy to hide. Danny has drama to monger though.
Tim Drake becomes a ward of Bruce Wayne at the same time the Drake Corporation is crumbling, and his father's health is declining. Dana, his father's physical therapist turned new wife, isn't optimistic these days, and Tim can read the writing on the wall.
Times have changed and Bruce and Dick are treating him with kid gloves. Jason Todd is alive again, been there suffered that. Young Just-Us has proven yet again to be his true family... But Bruce 'welcomes' him home the second the fake uncle is sniffed out.
So, Tim rationalizes, If Drake Corp is going down, then so shall the reason he spent his childhood abandoned. The many, many archeology digs his parents left him for over the years and their many, many stolen historical pieces. Tim is ready and able to get rid of them all.
He first returns the artifacts that have obvious origins to the people with whom they belong. Then it starts to get a little hazy as to where each item stolen is from. The paper goods are the hardest to place.
Years later, Tim has almost completely emptied his parent's old home of their stolen goods. By now, he runs a fortune 500 company and is working as Red Robin. Going through the last of the archives means going through the very last objects his parents ever preferred over his company, and he can't wait to be rid of them.
A glowing green envelope however... this one he feels compelled to keep. He hadn't known it back when he started this project- but somehow his Parents had found objects drenched in the essence of the Lazarus Pits. And it wasn't just one letter, it was dozens and dozens.
Tim Drake knew it would be risky to move them, but he needed to get these letters to an ex-league member to understand what the language of the dead was trying to proclaim.
_____
Danny hates a fetch quest but apparently Ghost Writer is having a bad day. It starts with Danny running by the guys library to have a chat when all of a sudden, the question of certain... ghost relations... came up. Danny is always more than thrilled to hear about how the various ancient-as-in-old ghosts interacted with the Ancients-as-in-yikes ghosts.
Ghost Writer finally admitted to the monarch in training that if he wanted to know so badly, that he could track down Clockworks old letters. They'd been scattered well before Ghost Writer could properly work on the ghost archives (read: was still alive), and it wasn't until he'd long worked on the library that such affairs were noted as missing.
The potential for gossip was just too good! A call home to Sam, Tuck and Jazz to let them know he was on an adventure, and then Danny flew off with little more than some hints by GW and an annoyed nod of cryptic agreement by CW.
Danny goes about wondering Gotham as himself, not yet seeing the need to be Phantom, when he runs into the very guy he was looking for.
"Hey- you don't happen to have a shit ton of letters written in the language of the dead do you?" Danny smiles as innocently as possible as he watches all seven stages of grief play out on the guy's face. Then something changes and Danny can tell that this guy is like, scary competent.
"I do, however, I was double crossed and a shit ton of assassins are on their way to try and take them."
"Uh... Bummer for them I guess? I'll just take them and go- I don't even really need to keep them if you want em back-"
"Assassins. They won't exactly leave empty handed."
"Huh. Well... Wanna come with? These are supposed to have some pretty juicy drama in them." Danny awkwardly places a hand on the back of his neck.
A knife being thrown in their direction was enough to get this guy to make a decision.
"Let's go spill some tea then."
Danny grins as he pulls the guy through a rapidly drawn portal, ignoring the wide eyes he makes. Turns out his name is Tim, and walking him through afterlife drama is the best- how does he know so many dead assassins??? One of these letters is about a guy who took Tim's spleen??

So, the Haunting Heroes server did a Who Wrote That game with the theme of "wingfic" a while back. I did an entry and I liked it enough that I decided to expand on it. Gonna start posting scenes here whenever I get them done, and eventually piece it together for ao3. This first part is the intro, but the rest probably won't actually be in order.
Update Mar 11, 2024: Here is the Subscription Post
Ectoplasm Gives You Wings
(Working title)
DPxDC, T-rated genfic.
Everyone knew ghosts had wings. It was in every ghost story throughout history, regardless of culture. It was one of their defining traits, like going through walls or fading into invisibility. The unquiet dead soared through the night on birdlike wings, occasionally leaving unnaturally large feathers as an omen of impending death.
As soon as the newly-working portal spat Danny out, he knew there would be no hiding what had happened. His ghostly form came with a pair of large wings that didn't go away when he turned back human. In his ghost form, they were mostly black with bars of white near the bottom edge. The reverse was true when he was human. It was an indication of what had happened to him that he couldn't escape.
Tucker and Sam tried to play it off to his parents as a meta mutation that had suddenly appeared. They'd heard of it happening before on TV and through the internet. Besides, there were winged people in the Justice League. Danny's parents had never talked about them being secret ghosts.
Danny would never forget his parents' horrified faces as they came downstairs and found him. The way their eyes skipped over his face entirely and focused on the wings behind him. His dad frozen in place, expression slack with shock. His mom's face going from horror to determination as she set her jaw and reached for a bazooka.
Danny and his friends managed to escape them and run all the way to Tucker's house. Running was harder with a new pair of limbs hanging off his back like so much dead (hah) weight. It was clear that Danny couldn't stay here. His parents might be cranks, but once they realized the portal worked they would have evidence to prove Danny was a ghost. At least, sort of. Would they try to experiment on him, or just try to help him pass on? Danny assumed it would be the latter, but he had also assumed his mom wouldn't ever draw a weapon on him.
Tucker and Sam helped him to pack a camping backpack full of spare clothes he'd left at Tucker's, a handful of important essentials like a first aid kit, and a sleeping bag. They left for a while and came back with a cheap cellphone, a handful of prepaid phone cards, and a surprising amount of cash. Who would have thought Sam was secretly loaded?
They argued all night about where he should go. Danny barely knew his Dad's side of the family, let alone whether they'd take him in. His mom's sister Alicia was somewhere in Arkansas, but Danny couldn't remember the name of the town. Besides, he hadn't seen her since he was about nine. What if she believed Maddie over him? Tucker and Sam suggested their own family members. Danny turned them down. He didn't want to be a burden to his friends' families.
In the end, they decided that he would blend in best in a big city far away from Amity. The next day, Danny climbed on a Greyhound bus headed to the East Coast. He couldn't hide the wings, no matter what he did. The best he could do was wrap the sleeping bag around himself like a blanket. Thankfully, no one on the bus seemed to care. They all had their own issues to worry about. Most seemed content to watch their phones or the scenery instead of looking too closely at the weird kid wrapped in a big, lumpy sleeping bag.
As the hours dragged on, Danny was increasingly greatful that everyone was minding their own business. There was something else wrong with him. His hands kept slipping through the sleeping bag. Going through solid objects, like a ghost.
The plan was to find a place in Metropolis that provided resources to meta kids. But by the time the bus reached Gotham Danny was exhausted and anxious. His hands had started to go through things. What if he went straight through the bus while it was driving? He had to get a handle on this. He could always go to Metropolis the next day.
Danny got off the bus. The city around him was gray and dreary, from the concrete sidewalks up to the cloud-covered sky. It felt like the sky was too close, more of a ceiling than an open expanse. Something about it gave Danny a strangely claustrophobic feeling. He tried to shrug it off as the lack of sleep catching up to him. The last time Danny slept was the night before the portal accident. That had been well over twenty-four hours ago. He needed to find a safe place to sleep.

Danny turned his face up toward the sky, letting Gothams rain poor down his face. His husband, Tim, had loved this city-to the point of dying for it while wearing a mask.
The court of owls had been cowardly, and honestly Danny should have expected that from a bunch of entitled rich people. Many of the bats were there taking down the courts lackeys but there wasn't any signs of the Talons, which made sense since they seemed to act oddly around Phantom and just kinda flopped onto the ground and bared thier necks to him. Wierd.
Everyone was fighting, so no one noticed the tip of a snipers rifle poking out of a crag in the cave walls until it was too late. A shot was fired.
And Tim was on the floor
Danny didn't remember much after that. He remembers Nightwing holding his little brother while Batman came to his side. He remembers the other bats running off to find the sniper and Danny just...stood there. He stared at Tims blood splatter and the gray matter all over the floor. The bullet had went through his head had killed him quickly but this didn't comfort him. The scene was so gruesome but he couldn't bring himself to look away as his vision was consumed by green.
The next time he became aware Nightwing was in front of him, asking him to turn himself in. Confused, he asked what he had done only to learn he had hunted down every Court of Owls member like a man possessed and torn them to shreds. No one was sure how Phantom knew who was a member or not especially while he was in that state, but it didn't change the face that Phantom had killed so many people.
Danny was horrified. How could he had done this? He had never experienced the pit rage before and never thought he would. But here he was having lost almost two weeks of time and gaining more blood on his hands than he knew what to do with.
So Danny, not wanting to argue or-ancients forbid- fight his family-in-law while everyone was grieving, agreed to turn himself in.
So he did.
He never agreed to stick around for an interrogation or a trial though. So he didn't.
The cops never even learned of his true identity before he took off but he knew it wasn't safe to stay in Gotham anymore. Heck, it probably wasn't safe to stay on Earth anymore with all the heroes that would be after him if the bats so much as asked. And there was no way he could go back to his own dimensions Earth either.
...but that didn't mean all Earths where out of the question.
---
Danny had finally gotten settled in this new dimension. Starting over was always hard but he had done it before. Grabbing a gig as a freelance translator and editor for a few publication companies was pretty easy when you knew what cards to play and what people to call. Plus, Danny was really good at making false identities and translating, so that helped a ton.
At night he would keep a look out his window, trying to spot the bats of this world, as as much as it hurt him to do so, he always delighted in seeing this worlds Tim running along the rooftops.
This went on for a while until Danny started getting nauseous and intense pain in his chest and abdomen. It was bad enough that he sniffed out this worlds Dr Thomkins pretty quickly and asked her to give him a check up.
Upon doing an ultrasound she found a strange sphere in his chest, which he assured her was normal, and an embryo growing in his abdomen which was very much not. Danny laid on the examination table for a solid few seconds and Dr. Tomkins was about to start rattling off his options to him before her patient started crying. "Oh thank the stars."
Danny explained that this was the child of his late husband who was murdered and he was very happy to have this baby. Sure, he had most of his personal affects (he had cleaned out his and Tims shared home and safe houses on his way out of the dimension, much to the absolue ire of the other bats) but this was a little living piece of his husband, which was something so much more.
But this also meant he had to leave again. This worlds Tim was just like the one that he lost and he had no doubt that some way, some how, Tim would find out about this child. Could he explain this in a way that was satisfactory? Could he handle Tim coming in and out of his home to visit "his" child as he would undoubtedly do? Could he stand to see the face of a man who looked like his husband, talked like his husband, and acted like his husband, but wasn't? No. He couldn't do that to himself. He couldn't do that to Tim. He refused to replace one Tim for another. That was so callus and shallow. He would never do something like that, grief or no grief. He was strong. He'd be strong for Tim.
He paid the doctor and thanked her profusely before leaving and going back to his apartment. He hadn't even unpacked most of his stuff before he was packing it all back up again. He needed to find a world where:
1. Tim was nothing like the Tim he had known and loved
2. Tim was not old enough to take custody of thier child if he ever found out
3. Batman was not around
4. Damian didn't exist. He was usually pretty cool with the little gremlin but he doesn't think he could listen to him insult Tim and not throttle a literal child.
5. It was not impossible to raise a child
The list could probably use some work but that was the gist of it for now.
-------
Danny had finally found his perfect Gotham after weeks or interdimentional travel and countless jumps. Well, perfect probably wasn't the right word for a place like Gotham but his point still stands.
He once again found himself sitting on the edge of a rooftop overlooking the city. He and his husband had liked to sit and chat in these kinds of places when patrol was slow. Now Danny was sitting alone in the rain in one of Tims old jackets reminiscing. Suddenly hearing a grapple line connect with the building startled him out of his thoughts.
Nightwing landed nearby and for a moment Danny thought he was here to insist Danny turns himself in again before he was reminded that this wasn't the same Nightwing and Danny hadn't committed any crimes here. Well. No violent ones at least. Forging a fake identity requires much criming as it turns out.
Nightwing approached him slowly and cautiously as if he expected Danny to bolt at any second. That wasn't comforting. "Hey," the big bird greeted calmly, "How about you step away from the edge? If there's something on your mind I'm sure we can talk it out, alright?"
Danny opened his mouth and then shut it again. Opening it again he blurted out, "I'm not gonna jump."
Looking doubtful, Nightwing gestured for him to come toward him and away from the edge, and if Nightwing were anyone other than a bat he would not have obliged as he did. Once Danny was safely away from falling to his doom the vigilante began asking questions.
After everything was answered and birdy was sure Danny was safe, he made a comment about the jacket and Danny told him it belonged to his late husband who past away recently. This led to Dick egging Danny on as he talked about his husband and grieved.
It was then that Danny showed Nightwing his baby bump and the vigilante was excited for him.
Somehow he and the various bats kept running into eachother around the city and one thing let to another. Before he knew it the bats where coming and going in his apartment to "check up on him"
This worlds Tim was still 16 and loved his role as Robin. He was grieving the loss of Bruce but...this version of Tim was different. Full of light. His smile was brighter and came more often. His humor wasn't as dark and...he was...smol. He began seeing this Tim more like his child than as an alternate version of his lover. Needless to say he planned on spoiling Robin rotten.
Everything seemed to be falling into place. He had a steady income, an apartment, some new friends, and was slowly unpacking.
It was smooth sailing up until his dead husband appeared in his apartment in the middle of the night staring him down with Lazarus green eyes. How had this happened? He was Tims husband and he made absolutely sure Tims body had been cremated (another thing the bats were mad about since Bruce and Tim were Jewish). Tim has specifically asked for cremation to avoid a situation like this where Ras got his creepy little hands on him.
But why would Ras send Tim here? How did Tim get here? How did Tim find him? Why did Tim show up in his apartment on random nights and then disappear into the city when he tried to ask him answers? Why did Tim barely speak? Was this a clone or the original?
Was this even real? Or was he finally losing his mind?

DPxDC Prompt: He’s Gone, I’m Next
The post had an image that was blurred for gore. Upon clicking on it to reveal it, however, the viewer would see a child, mutilated, vivisected, and left in a field to rot when there were no more organs to take.
The caption was as follows:
“As unbelievable as it sounds, this was legal. They could’ve done even worse, though I don’t know how much worse you can get, and it still would be legal. He was alive and awake for all of this. They only discarded him when they finally removed his heart and he died.
Why, you ask? Well, his parents were scientists studying a compound. Nothing illegal, and only dangerous when handled improperly. But they studied it his whole life. With such prolonged exposure to it from a young age, he eventually had enough of it in his system that he pinged on the sensors of the organization that did this to him. Once they realized the source of the contamination was his parents, they scanned them and took them too. I haven’t seen their bodies yet, but I can only imagine that they’re already in the same state. And again, it’s perfectly legal. Because anyone who’s been exposed to this substance for a long time can be experimented on and destroyed and is legally non-sentient and non-sapient. This obviously wasn’t true. Just ask anyone who knew him. He was a normal kid with a normal life. He didn’t deserve this.
I’m his older sister. The only surviving member of my family. And they’re coming for me next.”
Below the caption was a link to the anti-ecto acts so that people could read the law for themself to see that it was legal.
The account was registered to Jazz Fenton. Some quick googling found Jazz Fenton of Amity park and her brother and parents. Danny Fenton’s death report, as well as Jack and Maddie Fenton’s, who had been found dead in the exact same way an hour after the post had gone out, were front page news in Amity Park. The other big news was that their local town hero had gone missing.
The information immediately went to the Justice League the second Oracle read the post and dug up the intel. They raced to do something about it. Some people began tackling the anti-ecto acts, trying to get them destroyed. There was plenty of public outrage to support their demise, since the post had gone viral. The rest of the heroes split up to find and protect Jazz.
They found her eventually, on the run. There was a ghost protecting her, so luckily she was safer than they’d feared. But why is this ghost only shooting at some JL members and not others when they converged on Superman’s position to try to talk to her? Why does this ghost only let some of them approach the girl?
Superman and Green Arrow, of all people, can get close to her. So they’re about to find out.
Or, Danny gets killed in human form, his parents sharing his fate moments later. They hadn’t done anything other than be ecto contaminated. Jazz, who’d been out with friends, had thankfully saw the vans around her house and gotten away safely with the help of Sam and Tucker, both of whom wanted to stay behind to save Danny instead of escaping with her, since they were in much less danger. Jazz wanted to too, but they told her they couldn’t protect her and save him. She agreed to let them do their thing, only for the three of them to stumble across Danny’s body on their way out of town. He’d been captured only an hour ago. Jazz took a photo and posted the post hours later, once she was safe. Sam and Tucker turned back around to go back to Amity and burn the GIW to the ground. Danny, now a full ghost, shows up as Phantom a bit later and starts protecting Jazz. But he’s not fully in his right mind - he was tortured and killed in the span of an hour - and he shoots at anyone who approaches Jazz. That is, unless he can sense that they’re ecto-contaminated, which any JL members who’ve died and resurrected are. After all, no one would sell out their own kind like that. …Right? Okay, so Phantom’s still on edge. But what part of his mind he’s currently in position of is solely focused on protecting his sister. She’ll make it out. She has to. (Jazz, meanwhile, is trying to heal Phantom’s mind as much as she can.)

OCTOBER PROMPTS 🎃 — 13. Tara Carpenter
A/N: The way y’all voted on that poll was a true landslide lol I guess I didn’t realize how huge the tara stans are. So here goes something for my final fall prompt, hope this doesn’t flop like scream 7 will 🤭🤫🫠 but this is a short and simple ending so I do hope you enjoy this.
PROMPTS are from HERE & HERE + I’m using: going to a pumpkin patch + “you look cold, do you want a hug?” + “you think someone died here?”
WARNINGS: slight language I think? Dark humor. Age-difference: with Tara being twenty-one and oc/reader being twenty-five/six + Chad and Tara never became a thing in this timeline!
<- read my previous october anthology prompt here.
⁺˚⋆。°✩₊✧˖°. ☼ ⁺˚⋆。°✩₊✧˖°. ☼ ⁺˚⋆。°✩₊✧˖°. ☼ ⁺˚⋆。°✩ ⁺˚
Being at a pumpkin patch in mid-November when the skies were painted like pale ice in a frozen lake and the trees lost their copper leaves for good was questionable for Tara. The air no longer had its crispness to it but it started to feel more along the lines of a wild animal taking bites out of your face here in New York. However Tara couldn’t find herself complaining—well despite the fact that Sam turned this into a group outing—Tara couldn’t wait to see Johnnie.
Johnnie was Sam’s age, older than Tara, and easily became likable in Tara’s eyes although Sam often gave Johnnie a hard time even in the beginning. Of course they still had to be cautious but Tara always stood on the fact that she just wanted to live life after it’s been at risk of being taken away for good. She wouldn’t be as naive as last year but something about Johnnie had Tara’s insides turning into mush—in a good way though—not in a decaying guts kind of way.
The train ride was recommended by Johnnie to her family’s farm from the city and that became a whole debacle between the friends, until Tara waved her phone in the air saying that she already purchased a ticket while the rest could spend forever trying to figure out what they wanted to do. Mindy found this humorous how whenever Johnnie was mentioned, Tara made it her mission to be tuned into the conversation if she checked out.
Mindy was the first to pick up on the signs before Tara did and took great pride in Tara coming to her first out of the core four. Chad would argue against that saying he was actually the first since Tara did start to vent when they pulled a all nighter together. However he actually had no clue who Tara could be talking about and ended up eavesdropping when she chatted to Mindy one afternoon when he was supposed to be studying…basically pick a twin to believe at this point.
Tara couldn’t wipe the smile off her face on the train ride, fingers rapidly flying over her screen to the dimpled grin on her face when she spotted Johnnie helping out at the entrance of her family’s pumpkin patch.
“They’re with me, cousin.” Johnnie informs the family member with hair as white as snow, before grabbing up the walkie to contact someone else to head to the front and help out, now being off the clock with her friends here.
“Can we get more free perks for Christmas?” Chad asks as they briefly embrace and Johnnie rolls her eyes.
Johnnie folded her arms, “Why? So you can continue bringing your flings around and eat their tongues instead of enjoying the scenery?”
Chad frowned, “who are these flings that you speak of? I’m here enjoying the pumpkins with my favorite sister.”
As he goes to toss an arm over the curly haired girl’s shoulder, she shoves him away, “save it for the jury, Chad. I saw you eyeing that pretty girl with the shell earrings and racer jacket not too long ago.”
“I mean…she could be the one.” Chad couldn’t even bother to deny his wandering eyes.
Sam, Mindy, and Tara all share a groan while Danny snickers at Chad’s usual antics before being elbowed by Sam.
“Hey Tara,” Johnnie says, falling into step with the smaller girl; after informing everyone of the many activities the farm included.
Tara smiles up at her, “Hey Johnnie…remind me why we’re going pumpkin hunting so late into the season?”
“Well…I’m having a Friendsgiving next weekend at my spot and…that maybe partly true but I also wanted to hang out with you again before that.” Johnnie was honest with this, which made Tara slowly nod her head in appreciation.
Johnnie used to attend the same university as the three, received her degrees, started her business of creating designs on amputee’s prosthetics and moved to New Jersey two months ago to purchase her own home. So her having her shit together was definitely inspiring (and not to mention attractive) in Tara’s eyes and although she didn’t have everything figured out herself, one thing she was sure of: spending time with Johnnie felt right, scary yet comfortable and safe.
“Ohhh that’s right, I almost forgot about that.” Tara widens her eyes in realization, cursing to herself that she actually did forget about this but knew she could blame it on being swamped in school work, while Johnnie stumbles.
With a hand on her chest, she sighs playfully, “you wound me carpenter.”
“Wouldn’t dream of it,” Tara replies with a longing stare as they approach the line in front of a few booths.
Johnnie leans towards Tara who doesn’t realize she’s holding her breath, “what’re you in the mood for?”
“…hmm?” Tara asks, quickly pulling her eyes back to the line when Johnnie tries to catch her eye.
Johnnie laughs, “the menu. Anything catch your interest?”
“Well,” Tara starts as the autumn chill washes over the attendees on the farm, making her hunch her mesh covered shoulders a bit and clasp her hands together, “what would you recommend?”
“Everything.”
Tara scoffs as Johnnie winks at her.
“Can you even see the menu up ahead?”
“I’m not blind.”
“Nah, just short.” Johnnie teases while Tara quickly tosses a middle finger at the older girl.
Johnnie laughs to herself, picking up on tara’s attire which failed to keep her warm on this breezy farm. So Johnnie takes the opportunity to stand behind Tara instead, who is now bouncing on her tippy toes to what may seem like she was attempting to see the menu but it was probably to keep her blood flowing better.
Tara’s almost ready to swing until her belly realizes the familiar rasp by her ear, “you look cold, do you want a hug?”
Before her mouth can fumble out an answer, tatted hands come into Tara’s view as Johnnie locks her arms across Tara’s shoulders. She doesn’t find herself going stiff but easily welcomes Johnnie’s touch. A small smile graces Tara’s lips as her eyes fall in love with the dainty details of ink that decorate Johnnie’s skin. The artwork tells a story of Johnnie’s big heart which some may view as a contrast to her androgynous exterior much like the striking scar through Tara’s palm. That same scar Johnnie lightly draws a fingertip over from time to time and does so right now as Tara buries her nose against the side of Johnnie’s tatted other thumb.
Tara can even smell the balance of scents on Johnnie’s warm skin, a light creamy but earthy scent that makes Tara envision curling underneath blankets and staring out at Misty mountains instead of crowded streets full of loud voices, and suspicious faces. A sense of serenity that Tara wasn’t sure she’d ever find until she met Johnnie.
“What ya smiling at?”
Tara pries her eyes open, knowing she had been caught but keeps her eyes on the line that she didn’t realize moved forward some. “Nothing. You just think you’re so smooth when you could have been said you wanted to hold my hand earlier.”
Johnnie quickly places a peck to Tara’s temple so fast that she thinks she imagines it, “I want to do more than just hold your hand,” Johnnie ends up whispering before unraveling herself from Tara, who has to fight to hold herself up right.
“S’orry.” She mutters to those behind her as Johnnie takes the lead, heading right up to the stand, falling into small chatter with the worker before introducing an awkward Tara.
Tara is wide eyed as Johnnie banters back and forth for a little before they both set eyes on Tara.
“What?” Tara raises a brow, finding that she’s zoned out again just gazing at Johnnie socialize.
“You strike me as a apple nacho’s kinda girl.” The male worker says while Johnnie pretends to think about it.
“I’d say a apple cider donut but you’re of course welcome to try whichever or anything else on the board.” Johnnie responds, “on me.”
Tara tilts her head to the side, “what’re you getting?”
“The apple nachos,” Johnnie states.
Tara nods, “then I’ll get the donut…as long as you share.”
“Sure, sure. Anything you want,” Johnnie beams before turning back to the man, “you heard the lady!”
“Yeah, yeah.” He fans Johnnie with a knowing look before shouting out to the cooks off to the side.
With a carton tray full of crisp apple pastries—nachos, a side of caramel, two forks, and a yellow bag full of mini apple cider donuts, the two continued traveling through the large field together.
“Where have these been my entire life?” Tara groans after savoring the dessert.
Johnnie laughs, “right up here on this farm, I take it you’re enjoying those nachos?”
“Enjoying? More like I’d love to marry them! Can’t you tell by the way I’m murdering these bitches?! Perfect crunch on the outside and crisp from the apple on the inside, all with a side of caramel sauce?! It’s so delicious to the point i can’t even apologize for the noises you’re hearing because it’s your fault and I hope we finish them before the rest try to get any.” Tara admits through her rant while Johnnie abruptly stops.
Tara lifts her head, ready to question what was going on but Johnnie steered them in a different direction, “then we better head the other way since they’re all up by the goats and llamas.”
“Good call,” Tara says peeking over her shoulder to see Sam all cuddled up with Danny.
Disgustingly so.
Johnnie’s family farm was nice to be at although the temperature was constantly dropping but there weren’t many people out this evening, which was fine by Tara. The further they circled around the farm the closer they got to one of the rides here. It was the Ali baba—the large swing on the boot of a bulldozer? The pair stood beside each other outside the gate, watching as a few faces disappeared higher into the now gravel colored sky from side to side.
“you think someone died here?” Tara asks around the donut she previously stuffed her freckled face with.
Johnnie glances at tara and rotates to her better ear, “huh?”
The air from the ride and the earth along with the carnival music made it a bit difficult but after tara finishes the donut she speaks a bit louder, repeating the question, “you think someone died here?”
A couple shoot Tara a nasty look as they exit from behind the fence and Johnnie smirks at them with a mocking wave, leaning against the metal gate. Tara let’s out a snort as she leans towards Johnnie.
“Where’s that coming from?” Johnnie sweeps Tara’s bangs to the side.
Tara shrugs, “apparently horror films are not just a one month thing with Mindy. We’re now on your favorite series: final destination.”
Johnnie dips her head in understanding, “Ah,” and almost feels flattered that Tara remembered, “well this farms been open for about fifteen years and that ride’s only been around for the past five maybe? As far I know…no deaths. Why? You wanna get on?”
“Hell yeah I do,” Tara nods with a grin, “and I don’t care that I may puke everything up. As long as you promise to hold my hand.”
Johnnie taps her chin before matching Tara’s smile after lightly pressing their foreheads together, “I think I can do that, babe.”
‘Babe?!’ Tara thinks to herself as Johnnie takes their trash to the nearest barrel before meeting Tara half way with her hand held out.
And Tara doesn’t hesitate as she slips her smaller hand into Johnnie’s tatted one. She gives Tara’s hand a squeeze, fingers interlocked which Tara gazes down at while Johnnie watches Tara. When tara flicks her brown doe eyes back to meet Johnnie’s, they smile sweetly once more, feeling like this could be the start of—nope not something new! but a romance worth taking a stab-wait that’s not right either! chance on.

The Couple Next Door my thoughts…
Link here for a ‘real’ review from that neck of woods👇
👏👏👏
👆This just about sums it up for me, a real review from a real paper not a paid promo success piece from Hello or channel 4 blowing its own trumpet. If you google the series IBMd has it rated 5.2/10 at the moment of writing. (Saying something is brilliant does not make it so, unless you want to brainwash. Kenneth springs to mind taking a whole year+ to talk up Belfast so he would finally get that Oscar for the not so outstanding Belfast 🙄)
The Guardian Nov 2023 promo it as The couple next door a sexy fantastic time …4 stars but then by the 3rd Dec it’s no longer raving about it with an honest review.👇
https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2023/dec/03/the-couple-next-door-channel-4-swingers-thriller-review-slow-horses-3-arena-being-kae-tempest-the-doll-fctory?CMP=share_btn_link Barbara Ellen exert from review 3 Dec 2023 still the guardian…
Exert from link above by Barbara Ellen..
Well for me TCND started off with a ‘OMG not again!’ for the opening shot. I said to hubby ‘I hate it when they do that!’. The second scene supposedly set in Leeds wtf? Why didn’t they find a more convincing housing estate…then (Sam) Danny picking up the washing machine…dear god it made me cringe and that’s just for starters!
Sam…I could not get past his ‘Yorkshire’ accent?… well he did his best, it came through well some of the time. It’s sad but production were aware they were not going to predominantly film in Yorkshire or substitute location with a suitable comparison so why the need for him to do a Yorkshire accent? They could have set this story anywhere. Why not let Sam do his normal Scottish accent ? Far more sexy! Bad decision imo.
I could go on…especially the ladies dress code for a casual UK BBQ, LMAO. For sure my neighbour and I need to up our game at our next one! Seductive dresses, tits out and heels on! Husbands can’t wait…🤣
Does it appear Sam was hired for his body?…absolutely! Is he typecast as the guy who does sex?…looks like it. If he wanted to up his stakes as a good actor imo this was not the project. Can he do chemistry with anyone but Caitriona?… barely, but this was his best effort so far. Sex scenes and build up no 🔥 for me. I found it more cringe so fast forward came into play. Seems Sam is okay with full nudity and grinding again so can’t wait for OL S8! No need for J&C sex scenes to be PG…
Continuity, script, direction, production…dear god did outlander do it?
Out of all the actors Jessica De Gouw (Becka) stood out with a consistent performance.
Gripping? Nah, wanted to give up many times but finally got past ep 3 and pace seemed to increase so eventually got to the end which was then suddenly abrupt.
I wanted to like it, but for me it was blah…should have been amazing! Fail is more down to script, direction and production, had a giggle most of the way through at the script and said wtf and why a lot? ….🤷♀️still they all had fun making it and got paid!
For those who thought it enjoyable and hot I am really pleased for you! Sex for sex sake came to my mind, script all over the place one minute quite good another that’s shit.
For me in the words of a true Yorkshire man…
Maybe if I had a couple of wines with the cheese and knew it was not going to be a quality drama but a cheesy soap it would have gone down better.
Strikes me his fate in life is to be an alcohol god, that’s his true path…acting gave him his wife and family and that’s all he needs from it. It appears it’s not in his destiny for it to do anything more than that…🤷♀️JMHO
So if you haven’t seen it and want to then I suggest lots of wine and lower your expectations to a tv movie or soap and you will probably enjoy it and think it’s better than it was…🤪

H50, season 5, episode 1 thoughts...
Whatttt?
Okay, I have seen this scene before. The boys obviously in some kind of therapy. I just, honestly thought it was part of the whole therapy episode that, I think, comes in a later season.
But apparently I get BOTH!
Danny: We have been together for three years
Steve: Four
The fact that Steve then corrects him down to the day. Yeah, someone's been paying attention.
Also, Steve in that blue button up. Mmmhmmmm.
This is so beautiful I just want to quote it all.
Sir Daniel.
The fact that this is how they're starting the season... it's an obvious recap of who everyone is for new viewers but ... really?? ... could they have made it any more mcdanno??
Steve: we're ohana
Danny: I guess I was just agreeing with him, for the first time
No matter how much they argue they're family.
This poor couple obviously something is gonna go wrong... and it did.
And just in case we haven't been able to tell from his general vibes, one of Danny's intro scenes is now him and baby Joan (I think, based on how short it is). Just so we know he's father material.
(And if it's Joan, interesting that him interacting with Steve's niece is considered important enough for his intro)
Kono and Adam being adorable.
Wait. Was she surfing with her phone on her ankle? I may need me a waterproof case like that that is actually waterproof!
Hey, Steve let someone else fly the helicopter.
Shaw: you must be Detective Williams
Max: I have given her the full heads up
Danny: you gave her the heads up on what?
Steve: it's all true
And now you know there's a drone... go put your vests on.
Steve and Danny teasing Jerry together. And Danny has to slap Steve's thigh while doing so.
I'm sorry, Jerry, but yes, people do still read hard copy books.
Book em Danno.
And Steve's been shot.
Oh, look at that, Danny's just the right height for Steve to put his arm around him and use him as a crutch.
Steve: I can't drive, Danny
Danny: oh really? There's a silver lining in the face of death. Fantastic.
Steve: my leg will heal. Don't get used to it.
Okay, but now we need some cool action for stopping the plane please.
Okay, that drone was cool. Even if I did was some super Seal shanenigans (but I guess Steve's been shot, so...)
But he's up and running anyway...
Go Danny! Nice shooting!
Okay, and that clip ejection and reload was hot.
Yes, Steve does need a loyalty program with every fifth bullet extraction free. Lol.
Also, I note Danny is the one allowed to push his wheelchair.
Max: I just explained to Dr Shaw that Commander McGarrett is the leader of five-0 and that you're his deeply cynical, misanthropic, short-tempered partner.
Max: Dr Shaw agreed with my assessment, however, she did think you were cute.
Steve: hey! *reaches his hand back for a fist-bump with Danny.
(Okay, but does Dr Shaw think Danny is Steve's cop partner or partner partner? Just asking)
Well, now they're setting up a whole bunch of things for the season...
Mention of Danny's brother again... that dude better not threateb Grace.
Okay, I think this is now one of my fav eps despite the fact wasn't as much fan of the drone storyline as some of the others we've had.
Deleted scenes...
Oh, this is a brilliant one of mcdanno arguing...
Danny: where do you get stones big enough to tell that lady that I get to drive my own car?
(Stones Danny? Where are your thoughts?)
Danny: I'd like to drive it when we're together as friends.
(Steve, Danny is inviting you on a friend date where he gets to drive the car, okay)
Oh wow. Catherine found Najib but decided to stay in Afghanistan.
Wow, so Catherine breaks up with Steve in a deleted scene.
(I mean, I'm not mad, cos I do like her as a character just not with Steve, and I like she was honest with him and her reasons for staying there are good)

Chapter 19
Danny fell silent after their recount of everything they had gone through, from when they died, all the to how they became king. They had shared bits and pieces with Dan and compared their live up till the Nasty Burger incident and how Danny’s was different after Dan was sealed away but it had never been in such detail or in one whole sitting. It felt like a weight, they didn’t know they had, had been lifted off their shoulders.
They had a brother, a blood related older sister who understands the feeling of being thrust into a hero role and a brother-in-law had also experienced finding out he was an entirely different race than they had been raised as. Not to mention their niece and now, officially, their daughter.
They had a family, people who understood in ways their friends and Jazz had never been able to do. They new their true heritage, even if half was still missing. They felt more whole than they’d ever felt, even before the accident. All the little odd behaviours they’d has a a child, that the Fentons had basically trained them out of doing, that they were told was wrong. They finally knew why and that they had in fact been normal behaviours for a mer-child.
Looking over to where Rukia and Elle were playing… they were relieved and happy that Elle would be able to embrace all of her instinct from the start. They still found themself holding back or suppressing some instincts, even around others of their kind. Years of being told, trained, to act human were hard to shake off.
****
Clock Work had come to inform them that the claiming ceremony was ready and the family of siblings and nieces made their way to the private room. The ceremony was short and sweet. An exchange of ectoplasm and a sworn oath of familial bond.
They had all been surprised, excluding Clock Work who was acting as the main witness, when Elle was engulfed in a bright light. Once it had faded they were met with a human looking Elle as a three year old.
Clock Work was quick to explain that the ceremony had corrected the unnatural age progression that Vlad had put her through in the pod, as well as the error in her make up that had made her susceptible to destabilisation, even with the Ecto dejecto. She was now a true Halfa. Her memory was still intact but she would now act more her true age.
Danny had scooped Elle up and held her close, they had always had the fear, that she would one day disintegrate and they would not be able to help her. This was one less fear they had to worry about. She was safe and healthy and she will never destabilise again.
****
Dan sighed as he slumped back into his chair. Dan had a strange mix of emotions, he wanted to go after Vlad for what he had done but he was happy to have another niece, there was also the jumbled thought on if Elle could be counted as his as well or if, despite being the same person, their genetics were different.
It was something to look into, for curiosities sake, for all they knew they could actually be brothers… their mother could travel dimensions for fucks sake, it was in the realm of possibility. Did Clock Work know? Who was he kidding, they probably did. Continuing that thought he wondered if they had the same father? Was a different time period also considered a different universe? It that was the case, how did he end up the same in the same environment, with the same people? He new of other Earths, thanks to his time with the JL. They had made no progress in finding their father…
Maybe it was time they asked Clock Work directly. He didn’t have much hope in finding him nor that he would be happy to learn about them, to be honest, unless Clock Work hinted or told them where to look. Considering time, would their father even be alive now? They didn’t have a time frame or any indication of what time period or universe he was from. He didn’t particularly care either way but Danny…He would keep looking for his brother’s sake.
His intrusive thoughts were interrupted by a pat to his leg, looking down he came face-to-face with his youngest niece.
“Hi!” The smile on the three year olds face made him wary. It was to much like Danny’s, when they were up to something, to not be suspicious. Dan knew for a fact he did not smile like that when planning something. Danny had told him many times he had more of a smirk, Danny, and therefore Elle, had a smile that radiated to much innocence that anyone who was not familiar with the little gremlin would never suspect the chaos they had, were causing or will cause in the future.
“Hi… can I help you?” He continued to watch for any hint of what she was up to, as her eyes widened and her smile brightened, his senses prickled further. Danny had caught him off guard, more times than he’d like to admit, with that look. Were her eyes sparkling…?
“Can I call you Uncle Udon too?” Dan stared before slumping further into his chair, in resignation. ‘I’m never going to shake this nickname now.’ His siblings’ laughter and his older niece’s giggles just further cemented the thought.
****
Their older sister and her family stayed with them for a week after the coronation and Dan had informed the JL that both he and Phantom would be off world for the week and had Katana checking in with Japan during the week while Superman had offered to do a few flybys during his free time. Their claimed haunt was relatively problem free but they did suffer natural disasters at certain times of the year. Though they were quick to boot anyone who planned to cause trouble, before it could truly begin.
It had been nice, all the heavy stuff had been felt with on the first day and that left the rest of the week to relax and bond as a family. Rukia and Elle had become fast friends and they Danny, Lucia and Kaito got to know each other more and they had learned more about their Mother and the world their sister lived in. Sharing stories of being teen heroes in worlds that had no other heroes to guid them. Danny was happy.
Once their sister and her family had gone home, Danny and Dan had returned to Japan and their home town, Elle in tow. To say the town was overjoyed was an understatement, they had shown a festival in honour of Yuurei and the the fact that they would continue to prosper for many generations in the future. Elle had had a blast as she played with the town children and are to her hearts content. She loved the fact that she now had a place to, permanently, call home. That night they slept at the Shiro as the festival continued for three days.
****
Things had settled down, after three weeks, and Danny was only now ready to face the box of their mother remains. It was common for some ghosts to have keepsakes of family members, even the mere kept blood pearls, either to remember or as gifts of protection or proof of bonds. The thing was, usually, it was one or two pieces. A tooth, lock of hair, blood pearl or fur. Not every usable piece, like the Hunters had kept. Now faced with the box full of fins and scales… They didn’t know what to do. Deciding that they could figure it out later, they started organising them, trying not to think about where they had come from. Ells was taking a nap and Dan had come in at some point to help them. They were thankful for the quiet support.
****
Danny was exhausted. It didn’t happen often anymore, due to the power boost being King of The Infinite Realms gave them, but it had been a long two weeks. There had been an intergalactic war that was getting to close to their planetary orbit and almost everyone had gone to investigate and help, in any way they could, to resolve the problem peacefully. Everything had been going well but one side had decided that they still wanted the other planets resources. The JL were then fully dragged into the war. They were finally able to resolve thing with minimal casualties but it had taken its toll on everyone their.
Dan had stayed back so Earth wasn’t left unprotected while most of the heavy hitters were off planet. He had also kept an eye on Elle. Once Danny had returned home, despite their fatigue and heavy body, they had spent some much needed time with Elle. All three of them had gone to the hot spring and messed around as Danny unwound the tension they had built up over the weeks they had away.
It had been their first large scale fight, they had been involved with, Dan was usually the one to go on these kind of missions but this one had been in space. In Space! Sure they could go anytime they wanted but they also had a pull at their protection obsession. So two vultures one stone.
It didn’t hurt that their partner for this particular mission was Red Robin. They had gotten to know the other hero on a more personal level, though that is rather subjective, they were friends now. Besides, war didn’t allow for deep discussion, as much as movies portray at least. They mainly worked on information gathering, hacking alien tech and espionage, in some cases, in their quest for information. For the first week at least. The second week was filled with fighting and making sure their teammates did join their domain so soon.
Danny sighed as they slipped further into the hot water. They were so relaxed that they didn’t notice a certain three year old sneak up on them.
“Daddy? When can I get a sybling?” To say Danny nearly drowned would be false but they did sink into the water and flounder around in surprised embarrassment, before coming up and sputtering. Dan was laughing in the background.
“Not unless someone manages to clone me! Again!” They cried out in a rush before mumbling. “Or someone actually agrees to marry me.”
****
Danny collapsed onto their bed at Phantom’s keep. The rush of Ectoplasm would help them get back to normal quicker. They snuggled into their pillow and their thoughts drifted to Elle’s question and immediately blushed when Red Robin crossed their mind. Forcing their mind to be quiet, they slipped into sleep. Their dreams were hazy and fragmented and their consciousness remains out of reach for almost to days. Unaware of their sleepy actions.

Matched: Chapter 10 - The Little Family
Characters: Jake Kiszka x Thea Foster Warnings: 18+ as always. Fluff. Pregnancy. Mentions of child birth. Smut. Allusions to sex. A/N: Final chapter is here! It's a shorty but a goodie. Thank you for tagging along on this journey, but we ain't done with this world just yet! ;)
A couple months into the tour, we found out we would be expecting a boy to which everyone was thrilled about, including myself. Henry Francis would soon be coming into this world. My dream is slowly coming true. I’m married to the love of my life and having a baby boy, the first boy of the trio that we both want.
As her pregnancy progressed, we were all taking extra precautions. One of us, if not all of us, were constantly checking in on her and making sure that she and the baby were doing alright. Most days she spent on the bus or the hotel room to rest due to back pain or swollen feet.
And it wasn’t until we made it to New York when things started to change.. The tour ended the night before with an electric send off. Today all of us decided to head out to the zoo, do something fun before we head back to Nashville.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” I ask as I help her tie on her shoes.
“Yes, I’m fine.” Thea sighs as she rubs her stomach. “He’s just been moving so much, it’s making me highly uncomfortable.”
“And you’re sure walking around like this is also okay?”
“Yes, Jake,” She giggles. “I need to move. I’m getting tired of being cooped up in here all the time. I’ve missed half your shows because of the nausea and back pain. I’m sick of it.”
I help her stand from the bed and she straightens out her clothes.
“Plus, if I stay here any longer, I’m going to go insane..”
I chuckle and kiss her forehead. “Alright then come on.. The guys are waiting downstairs in the van.. Josh is way too eager to go see the monkeys.”
Thea giggles and slides on her sweater. “That’s because he is one..”
That he is..
On the elevator ride down, I can see her holding the side of her stomach as she winces. “Are you okay?” I ask.
She nods her head. “Yeah.. He’s just testing out his soccer skills apparently..”
I chuckle and press my hand to her stomach. “Hey little man, relax there. Mama’s not your soccer ball.” She smiles and rests her hand over mine.
The doors open and we step out to join the guys in the lobby of the hotel. “Hey pretty mama!” Josh exclaims as he gives Thea a hug. “Finally getting out for some fresh air.”
“Yeah, finally.. I don’t feel like my back is going to break every time I stand.”
“Well I’m glad you could join us today. How is the baby?” He asks as he leads her out of the hotel.
“Forget the baby, how are you?” Danny says as he steps beside me. We walk out of the hotel together with Sam following close behind with Rose. “Getting much sleep at all?”
I blow out a breath and roll my eyes. “Here’s a little tip for you, Daniel.. Don’t get a woman pregnant.”
Danny laughs and slaps me on the back. “Not for a long while,” He says. “I’m still in my prime brother.”
“Shut the fuck up..” I say rolling my eyes.
“But seriously, how are you?”
“I’m exhausted.. She wakes me up in the middle of the night to get her food.. Food we don’t have.. And then because I told her we don’t have it and the hotel kitchen is closed–and half the city–she gets so angry with me, as if it’s my fault.”
Danny chuckles, shaking his head. “You’re a married man now, it will always be your fault.”
We made it through the whole zoo and back to the van before Thea started getting uncomfortable. “When we get back to the room, I’ll start a warm bath and give you a massage,” I tell her as I let her rest her head on my shoulder.
“I’m next after her,” Josh jokes from the front seat.
Suddenly Thea sits up, her hand clutching my thigh. “Jake..”
“Hmm?”
“We might not be making it to the hotel.”
Josh turns back around in the front seat to face us. “Why are we not making it to the hotel?”
“Umm.. I think..” She swallows and looks up at me with nervous eyes. “I think my water broke.”
Sam and Danny lean forward behind us. “You think?” Sam asks.
“Have you been having any contractions at all?” I ask as I turn in the seat.
“No.. But if I peed my pants, then it was a lot,” She nervously laughs.
“We’ll take you still,” Josh says. “Just to be sure.”
A couple hours later after arriving at the hospital and getting her looked at, I’m heading back out to the waiting room. My heart is pounding but a huge grin is plastered on my face. Josh is the first to see me when I walk through doors and he stands to his feet. “What’s the verdict?”
“Guess we’re having the baby today,” I say, shrugging my shoulders. “But we have absolutely nothing with us here. It’s all back on the bus.”
“Don’t worry, we’re on it.” He says.
“Oh hey Sam,” I say, grabbing his arm. “Do you mind calling Mom and filling her in?”
He smiles and nods his head. “Of course,” He says. He wraps his arms around me, pulling me in for a hug. “Congrats brother.”
I chuckle and hug him back. “Thank you. But I gotta head back to the room.”
“Hey Jake?” I hear Josh call as I start heading back to the room. I turn around and he’s running up to me and throwing his arms around me. “I’m so happy for you,” He says over my shoulder before pulling away. “Now go have a baby.”
“Thank you.” I say before pulling away completely and going back to the room.
Labor went by quickly and before we both knew it, she was ready to push. “Don’t make me do it.” Thea begs as she holds tightly to my hand.
I smile and kiss her forehead. “You can do it,” I say. “I know you can.”
“I’m scared, Jake.”
“I know you are, but I promise, everything is going to be okay.”
And the birth followed quickly after that. Just as we both predicted, we have our baby boy. His cries filled the room as they placed them on her chest. “Are you crying?” Thea giggles as she looks up at me with tears in her eyes as well. I couldn’t form any words so I opted to nod my head. “You have your boy, Jake.” She says.
Standing by the nursery window, I’m joined by Josh. He wears a proud smile and pulls me in for a hug. “Can’t believe that you’re a dad!” He exclaims. “Now show me which one is yours.” He says, turning us back to face the window.
“Second row, third one from the right.”
“Shut up..” He gasps when he spots the blue cap on the baby’s head.
I eagerly nod my head. “Henry Francis. A whopping six pounds exactly.”
“Damn.. I owe Danny twenty bucks.”
“You were betting on my son’s weight?”
“As if you and Thea didn’t.”
I shrug my shoulders. “I was off by seven ounces.”
Josh chuckles and shakes his head. “Can I hold him? Or do I have to wait?”
I tap on the window, catching the nurses’ attention. She smiles and nods her head before going over to the bassinet. She picks up Henry and carries him out to us in the hallway. She hands him off to me and I turn to face Josh.
“Uncle Joshy,” I say. “Meet your godson, Henry.”
“You made me godfather?”
“Seems only right to do so.”
I carefully hand Henry to Josh. “Six pounds is so tiny.” He chuckles. Henry grunts, his face twisting. “Oh, I’m sorry, I’m sorry. Too loud? Yeah, I get that a lot.” Josh looks away from the baby and at me. “How’s Thea doing?”
“Pretty good, super exhausted.”
“Gee, I wonder why,” Josh chuckles. “Is she asleep?”
“Yeah, I told her I’d keep an eye on Henry while she sleeps. She’s afraid of bringing home the wrong baby.”
“Can’t say that I blame her.” Josh says.
Seeing him standing there and holding my kid just doesn’t feel real. None of us imagined us with kids anytime soon. I sure didn’t, until I met Thea. I thought all that was gone for a while there. Believed it. But I finally got her back. And this is where we ended up. Married and building our own little family.
“Besides, you can’t deny that he is your kid,” Josh continues. “He’s got your nose.”
“I spy a tiny, little guy,” I hear Sam say. Turning around, I see him and Danny coming down the hall with a few balloons. “Hi buddy,” He coos as he tickles Henry’s side. Henry squirms slightly in Josh’s arms.
“Knock it off, you’re upsetting him.” Josh says as he swats Sam’s hand away.
“Am not.”
“Are too.”
“Both of you knock it off.” Danny says as he sets the balloons on the floor and removes Henry from Josh’s arms. “The last thing we need is for him to learn on his second day of life that you two are nuts.” He cradles him in his arms and fixes the hat on his head. “He needs at least one stable uncle.”
“And what makes you think you’re the stable one?” Sam quips.
“I’m not the one arguing over upsetting him.”
The nurse comes back out to the hall. “It’s time to be fed,” She says as she scoops the baby out of Danny’s arms. “Pops, are you ready?”
Sam opens his mouth to start saying stuff but I immediately stop him. “With a bottle, dumbass.” I say before following the nurse back into the nursery. I pop my head back out into the hall and sternly point my finger at them. “Do not bother Thea.”
–Three Days Later–
“Is it really safe to have a three day old baby on a tour bus?” Josh asks as he lugs a couple bags onto the bus.
“Probably not but we have to make do with what we got,” I say as I help Thea to the back of the bus.
“Baby is officially on board!” Sam exclaims as he steps onto the bus.
“Would you keep quiet?” Danny scolds. “Last thing we need is for your big mouth to wake the baby.”
I step out of the back room and carefully take the carrier away from Sam. “You wake him, I’ll kill you.”
“Language,” Sam playfully gasps.
I roll my eyes and carry the baby to the back and already Thea is fast asleep. I chuckle and set the carry down on the floor to grab a blanket to cover her up. Hearing little noises coming from the carrier, I look down to see Henry stirring, his face scrunching up. Bending down to unbuckle him, I carefully lift him out and rest him against my chest.
“Welcome to the tour bus buddy,” I say as I gently sway from side to side as I gently pat his back. “We’ll be home soon and then you can sleep in your actual bed–after I get it put together.”
After a day on the road and a very sleepless night, we finally made it back home.
“Jake, are you sure I can’t help with anything?” Thea asks from the front door.
“Nope, I got it.” I say as I carry our suitcases up to the front door, including Henry’s suitcase. Apparently Josh decided he needed his own. He’s not even a week old yet, why would he need a suitcase?
“Jake..”
“I’ve got it,” I say as I stumble through the front door. “See?”
Thea rolls her eyes and goes back to the living room. “If your back hurts tomorrow, I don’t want to hear it.”
“As if it doesn’t already..” I grumble as I follow behind her. “He’s not even a week old and he’s already taking up space.. I was so far up against the wall of the bus the whole night. Felt like I was sleeping on a board.”
“Well now he’ll be in his own bed,” She says. “Once you get it put together.”
“Why do I have to put it together?”
“Because you volunteered.. And because you’re the daddy.”
I sigh and lay my head back against the couch. “Right.. Superdad,” I say, throwing my fist in the air. Pushing off the couch, I head upstairs to the guest room that we decided would be Henry’s bedroom. I stare at the box of the unassembled crib pieces and place my hands on my hips. This is going to take a while.
“I thought you were "Superdad".” Thea smirks as she leans against the doorframe.
“I was.. Until I started reading the instructions.” I hold up the instruction manual. “So I called in the brains.”
Sam pops up from behind the crib with a screwdriver in his hand. “That would be me.”
“And I see you stole the baby too?”
I look down at the sleeping baby in my lap and sucking on his pacifier. “Can’t steal what’s mine,” I wink at her. “Plus he was crying and you were asleep.”
“Kid’s got a set of lungs on him too.” Sam says as he steps out from behind the crib. “Alright “superdad”, help me with the mattress.”
Gently standing to my feet, I hand off Henry to Thea before going over to the mattress and helping Sam lift it into the crib. He proudly stands off to the side with his hands on his hips. “Well, I say we did a pretty damn good job, brother.” He says.
“Shall we test it out?”
“Well, I guess but I’m a bit big-”
“I meant the baby!” I quip as I slap my hand across his chest.
“Oh, right, the baby.”
Rolling my eyes, I turn back to Thea and take Henry back. He grunts a little, his face scrunching up. “Shh, shh, it’s alright,” I say as I rock him back and forth. “We’re gonna try out your new bed.” I carefully lat him inside the crib and watch him as he settles down and goes back to sleep.
“So I take it he likes the new bed.” Sam chuckles.
“This might be a good time to slip out.” Thea says.
The three of us quietly leave the bedroom and head back downstairs. “All of that crib building made me hungry.” Sam says as he heads for the kitchen.
Thea starts to follow after him but I grab her hand and pull her back to me. I looked around the corner to make sure that Sam was out of sight before I pulled her in for a kiss.
“What was that for?” She asks when we pull apart.
“Just wanted to show you how much I love you,” I say as I wrap my arms around her. “A lot’s changed in the last year between us and I couldn’t be happier. I’m married to the love of my life and we have a beautiful baby upstairs that we created together.” I pull her closer to me, pressing my hips into hers. “What if we left Sam to his own devices and went back upstairs?”
Thea laughs and straightens out of my shirt. “I just gave birth, Jacob. Give me some time.”
“Six weeks?” I wag my eyebrows.
“Stop your research.” She says, pointing a finger at me. “More than that.” She pulls away and starts going towards the kitchen.
“So how much time?”
She shrugs her shoulders as she turns back around. “A year.”
“A y–What?”
“You heard me.” “No sex for a year? That’s torture.” Thea only winks before turning on her feet again and going into the kitchen. “Dorothea!”
Thank you again for following along on this journey! Like I said, we are not done yet! Coming soon to devices near you, is the prequel? sequel? to Matched:

DPXDC Prompt #58 Part 1
His parents studied ghosts. Danny didn’t understand as a kid why everyone made fun of his parents. Now that he was 12, the thought was ludicrous and yet his parents continued their work on the portal. Danny had his sister Jazz though and the siblings were rather close.
Jazz had spent a lot of time studying lately stating that she wanted to get into a good college. Danny understood he did, but being alone sucked and he couldn’t help it as he sighed kicking a pebble down the sidewalk.
It was a nice hot summer day, the kind of day you’d want to spend at the beach or a pool. Danny however had other ideas. He was on the way to the local library. If Jazz was going to spend her summer studying for the ACTs then Danny was going to study what he wanted, Space. He quickly found a few books and got settled into a chair as he read. Space really was fascinating, he hoped one day his dream of becoming an astronaut would come true.
An hour or so passed before Danny was interrupted, “what are you reading?” The voice started Danny out of his trance as he looked up at his interrupter. A boy about the same age as Danny with the same black hair and blue eyes that Danny had. His skin was more tan than Danny’s own pale white.
Danny fidgeted in his seat for a moment before answering, “Astronomy: guide to the stars” Sure, Danny knew the text was college level but he already read all the ones for high and middle school.
Damian seemed to hum thoughtfully with a hand on his chin before speaking again, “the book you're reading seems advanced, you seem smarter than your age would dictate. Father has requested that I visit the library and try to ‘make a friend or two’ in his words. I don’t see the need for companionship but if I must I’d rather it be with someone intelligent. My name is Damian.” It was a bit much but Danny guessed from what Damian said that he was complementing Danny.
“Uh, Danny… I guess most of the people in my family are pretty smart.” He replied after a moment.
Danny thought it was odd that someone wanted to be friends with him. Everyone at the public elementary school he went to knew who his parents were so they wanted nothing to do with him. It was lonely but Danny didn’t mind it too much, but Damian didn’t act like he knew Danny’s Parents. The thought of having a friend that didn’t judge him for who his parents were made Danny a little excited.
“What occupation do your parents have?” It was a simple question with a not so simple answer.
Oh, Danny’s heart stuttered a little bit at the thought of Damian knowing anything about. He didn’t want to lie, especially to his new friend but he didn’t want to tell him the truth.
“Uh, they’re scientists but I don’t really know what they do…” Danny said carefully and slowly. He was sure Damian bought it.
The two spent the next couple hours just talking in the library. It had started to get late and Damian needed to head back home.
“Do you own your own phone?” Damian asked, it wasn’t uncommon, for most kids in his class had a cheap hand me down phone for emergencies. Danny unfortunately didn’t as his parents probably didn’t care where he was.
Danny shrugged, “not really, I could borrow my sisters but it really only gets used for emergencies.”
Damian seemed to frown at this thinking for a moment before nodding as if he came to a conclusion, “my brother Todd has mentioned that it’s hard for low income houses to afford something I’d consider a necessity in this city. You do know how high the crime rate is, yes?” Danny nodded but he didn’t know what that had to do with having a phone Damian cleared his throat before continuing, “as you are now my friend I’d like to offer to purchase one for you.”
Danny hadn’t owned anything like a phone before, “a-are you sure? I don’t really need one, my parents don’t really… care?” He felt uncomfortable with his new friend spending money on him, Damian seemed like an important person especially with the clothes he wore and how he carried himself. Danny felt like he’d be taking advantage of his new friend if he bought Danny a phone. Danny closed the book he was holding and took a breath before speaking again, “I appreciate the offer but I wouldn’t have anything to offer you in return.” He let his gaze fall to the cover of the book, a swirling galaxy on a black background and bold yellow text.
“I would not have offered it if I wasn’t sure.” Damian stated firmly causing Danny’s head to snap back up, “I do not need anything in return, however if you really intend to pay me back, Father has insisted that I bring a friend home sometime. Since we have established that we are friends I insist that you come visit every so often to, as Richard puts it ‘get him off my back’.” It sounded like a simple request but Danny was unsure. If Damian was someone important then his family was bound to be even more important.
He took a moment to think about it, but Jazz would be happy Danny finally made a friend…
“Alright, I accept,” Danny said as they shook hands. It might have been a little childish but he could tell he made some sort of bond with Damian.
After that they had quickly become friends. Once Danny had become accustomed to being in the Wayne house he basically became family, and was often visiting, especially to eat Mr. Pennyworths cooking. Mr. Wayne also seemed fond of Danny, he even offered to pay for Danny to go to Gotham Academy along with Damian. Danny had been hesitant at first but Damian quickly wore him down. Tim eventually wormed his way into the group as he and Danny bonded over the latest video game releases. Soon Jazz got roped into the group too as she started to visit the manor to get away from how noisy the lab got.
A couple years had passed since the day that started the road to their friendship and the four of them had really bonded since then. Unfortunately their parents had finished the portal and its here where things go downhill for Danny.
In the next one Danny dies and all 4 of them are deeply traumatized.
Damian saw his dad doing research on the Fenton family, Bruce is just looking out for potential rouges and Damian took the opportunity to become friends with Danny. He figured that he could just bribe Danny into being his friend like all the kids at his school try but Danny is a lil cinnamon roll. Taken aback from how sweet Danny is Damian decided that Danny really was smart and worth being a friend. Tim has the same thoughts especially as Danny starts visiting the mansion more. Jazz loved that Danny had a spot to go where people seemed to actually care about him and she eventually gets dragged into the group. You can only drop off your brother at the Wayne’s so often before you get dragged into the group as well and I thought Tim and Jazz can be the same age and can bond over being older siblings.

Benefits of Car Troubles (Part 6)
Summary: Matt finds out about Leigh's pregnancy and confronts her about the baby.
A/N: Finally!! The end of this story! This will be the last chapter. Enjoy!
Masterlist | All Stories Taglist | One Two Three Four Five
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A knock on the front door startles Leigh. She doesn’t know why. She was home alone and Jules is known for forgetting her keys often. But something about the shift in energy in the house made her heart speed up. She takes a breath to calm down before she opens the door and gets the answer to her mental questions. “Matt, Danny, what are you doing here?”
“Is it true?” Matt asks as he steps forward.
“I-I have no idea what you’re talking about,” she straightens her posture and hopes her baby bump isn’t noticeable.
“Come on man. I told you to just drop it. You're better off this way.” Danny tries to pull his brother back but he shakes him off.
“No, I need to hear it,” Matt demands. “Leigh, are you pregnant?”
Leigh’s heart drops at the question. She had been so careful. She only told her family and you. How could Matt have found out? Not sure how to handle the situation properly she sticks with what she knows best. She continues her charade. She begins to laugh, “Where did you hear something like that?”
“Stop it, Estelle already told me everything. The real reason why you left me in the middle of night.” At Matt's words, Leigh clenches her jaw as she thinks back to the day she left him. She told everyone that he ended it because that just seemed easier. That they were both the cause of their marriage ending. But that wasn't exactly the case. She confronted him about his affair and he immediately started asking for forgiveness. He told her that it had been over for a few weeks by then and that he realized just how much he loved Leigh and that he never wanted to lose her.
Matt suggested couples therapy or anything to help them work through their issues and save their marriage. Leigh almost gave in to him, well, she did. She told him that they could fix their problems. That she loved him. But once he went to bed she realized that she hated the thought of letting you go more than she did ending her marriage. So she wrote a short letter about how she wasn't sure that she could ever trust Matt again and that there was no relationship without that trust. She packed a bag and she got in her car and she left. She wasn't quite sure how to tell everyone. She didn't want to look like the villain in this story. So, she made up a different one.
“Matt, let me start by saying—”
“Leigh, I know I said that I didn't want kids but… would you really keep my own child from me?” He cuts her off.
Her eyebrows draw together. “I guess Estelle didn't tell you the real reason.”
“What do you mean?”
Leigh bites her lip as she rubs her knuckles with her fingers and considers her words to ease him in. “Matt, you weren’t the only one unfaithful in our marriage. This baby, she isn’t yours.”
“What?” he breathes out as betrayal fills his body. Matt steps back and Danny pulls him away.
“I always knew you were a bitch,” Danny says over his shoulder as he leads his brother away. Leigh shuts the door feeling embarrassed. She couldn't believe that Estelle would make her do that. She takes a breath to remind herself that she is done with that woman. Never again does she have to be polite to her.
Still upset, Leigh picks up the phone and calls you. Unable to hear your phone as you work under a car, you don't answer. So she tries you again. Same result. Starting to worry she looks up the office number and calls the shop. Teddy is the one to answer with the company's greeting.
“This is Teddy, how may I be of service?”
Leigh suddenly feels nervous, she only knows stories about Teddy, she has yet to formally meet the woman. “I-” Leigh isn't sure what she would tell the girl a good reason for disrupting your day would be without giving away too much information. “Dinner,” she finds herself saying.
“Excuse me? Who is this?” Teddy asks, growing annoyed as she starts to believe it's the prank calling kids.
“It’s Leigh, I'm sorry. I uh I was trying to reach Y/n to uh set up a dinner for the three of us. Because you're important to Y/n and I haven't gotten to meet you yet. I feel kind of bad since they've been forced to sit through so many dinners with my family. And I haven't made the effort to get to know theirs.”
“Oh, that's okay. Y/n doesn't really introduce me to they're partners unless they want them gone. Either I'll take them from Y/n, which is how I met my current girlfriend, or they'll be so threatened by our friendship Y/n will be single again in a week,” Teddy explains.
“Oh, well, what happens if the girlfriend is the one arranging the meeting?” Leigh challenges.
“I, huh, that's never happened before. You know what, I say we find out. When is this impromptu dinner?”
“Tonight of course! That won't be a problem, will it?”
“I don't believe so, I will see you at six thirty. I'll bring dessert,” Teddy confirms.
“Fantastic, I think we'll get along great!” Leigh boasts. Teddy agrees with an awkward laugh as she hangs up. Now she really needs to get a hold of you but first, she has to go shopping for ingredients for dinner. She goes to the grocery store and continues to try and get a hold of you. It’s not until she is putting the grocery bags away in the trunk of her car that you finally call her back in a panic.
“What’s the matter? Are you okay? Is it the baby?” You rush out as soon as she answers.
“Woah, woah, calm down, Y/n. Everything is okay,” Leigh says as she tosses another bag in with one hand.
“Calm down? Leigh, you called me fifty times!”
“Okay, I can see why you’re panicking. But really, everything is fine. I was just contacting you to inform you that Teddy is joining us for dinner tonight. I’m heading over now to cook something special for everyone.” Leigh gets into her car and starts the engine.
“Oh,” you say, confused. “When did this happen?”
“Well, I was calling earlier to talk to you about something but it’s not important anymore. Teddy picked up the store phone and we got to talking and the idea just came to me. You’ve been so good about coming into my life, it’s time I put effort into joining yours.” Leigh pulls out of the parking lot.
“Sweetheart, you’re so thoughtful. Okay, I’ll head upstairs now to go clean the place up.” You say as you send your last worker home. “I love you. I’ll see you soon,” you grin.
“I love you too,” Leigh’s heart swells in her chest. It felt good to be able to be free, happy, and in love.
At a bar near your auto shop, Matt and Danny are being kicked out of a bar after they went well over their limit and the bartender cut them off. The brothers make their way to a convenience store and they purchase a case of beer, a pack of cigarettes, and a lighter. They stumble around until they spot your shop. Matt remembered seeing a short story written on a piece of paper with the logo. He blinks a few times as he realizes it wasn’t a short story that someone wanted Leigh to review. It was a love letter.
“Danny,” Matt nudges his brother for his attention. “Danny,” he calls again.
“Yeah? What?” He slurs and staggers to a stop.
“There,” he points to the shop. His brother struggles to read the sign and has no clue why Matt was pointing it out. “That’s who knocked up my wife!” Matt says with frustration.
Danny starts laughing, “Bro, that’s a building! It would have crushed her!”
“No, no, they work there,” Matt explains.
“Oooh,” Danny connects the dots and gets as upset as his brother. “Let’s go teach this fucker a lesson.” He marches across the empty street, carrying the case of beer. Matt follows and they bang on the closed garage doors. “Open up you son of a bitch!” Danny shouts as he bangs harder.
You are confused by the loud noise and open your window to see what’s going on. You roll your eyes as you see the drunk homeless men knocking on the garage gates. You shut the window with a sigh and grab your baseball bat. You walk downstairs and sneak up on the two from the side door. “Come on guys, you have to go. We’re closed.” One that was holding an open case of beer, drops it and takes a swing at you. Luckily, you dodge the hit. “Hey! Woah! There’s no need to get violent. Okay? Just leave or I’ll be forced to call the cops.” Then you see him. The man from Leigh’s photos. You gulp. “Hey, Matt, look. I never intended for things to go this way. She said you guys were getting a divorce.”
“Oh is that so?” Matt shoves you and you let him. He’s earned a shove. “Where is she right now? She in there? Were you fucking her just now?” He asks angrily as he goes in for another shove.
“No! No!” You shout as you shake your head. It was clear that he was wasted out of his mind. “She isn’t here. She’s at home. Look, we don’t have to get into anything here. Okay? Just walk away.”
Matt laughs manically, “Funny that you’re telling me to walk away! When that’s what you should have done! We were happy! Until you came and ruined everything!!” Matt charges at you and you side step him. Letting him run full speed into the metal gate. This agitates Danny and he comes at you again. You run into the building and lock the door behind you. They bang on the door as they scream vicious words at you.
“Hello nine-one-one, what’s your emergency?” The woman says.
“My girlfriend’s ex and his brother attacked me at my place of business and refused to leave,” you explain to the operator. You give her the address and she says that someone should arrive shortly. You thank her and as the call ends, a rock is thrown through the garage windows. “Shit,” you curse under your breath and head to your office to retrieve a gift from your father. You never wanted to have to use it, but if it scared them away, and kept them from trying anything with Leigh and your family in the future, then so be it. You struggle to get the combination right as more things are thrown into the shop. Fearing for your life, you pray over and over that Leigh doesn’t get here while they’re here. That the cops get here in time. That you get to be there for your friends and family. Not certain of your future, you text Leigh that you love her.
Leigh is dancing and singing along to her playlist. “I’m so in love that I might stop breathing. Drew a map on your bedroom ceiling. No, I didn’t see the news.” She pulls over to the side when she hears sirens going off. The vehicles are racing down the road and she is curious about what could be happening. When the last one passes her, she resumes her drive as usual and only lowers the car volume when she sees the big cloud of smoke coming from the direction of your business. She drops her foot on the gas, trying to get there fast enough to find out if you’re okay.
When she arrives, the place is in flames. The windows in your apartment explode from the heat and pressure. “No!” she screams out. Teddy is the one to catch her before she can run into the burning building to attempt to save you.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” Teddy tries to console the pregnant woman in her arms but she is hysterical.
“What happened?” Leigh cries out. “I was just on the phone with them!”
“I know sweetie, I know,” Teddy was trying so hard to keep it together. You were her best friend. You meant the world to her. She knows you would have wanted her to take care of the love of your life when you couldn’t. “I don’t know what happened. I came back here because I forgot my keys and it was already like this. I saw two guys trying to run away but the firefighters caught them before they could get away.
“Why would someone do this?” Leigh feels lost. There was no reason for this to happen. You were a good person. You didn’t deserve this. “Why did this happen?” She cries into your best friend's shoulder. The cops are walking past them, escorting the two men they arrested and Leigh recognizes them immediately. She stops crying in the same second. “Oh no,” she whispers.
“What? Do you know them,” Teddy inquires.
Leigh covers her mouth in shock, “This is all my fault.”
“What are you talking about? Who are those guys?” Teddy presses.
“My ex-husband and his brother,” Leigh lets out in a whisper as she begins to feel faint. How could everything go so wrong, so fast?
The building collapses in on itself as firefighters run out of the building without you and the women know there is no hope in finding you alive. Leigh faints and Teddy catches her as she screams out for help.
“Leigh,” she hears your soft voice call out softly. “Leigh,” she hears it again and she forces her eyes to open. You are standing in front of her with a teary smile and rocking a bundle of blankets in your arms. “Hi, love,” you greet softly.
Leigh tries to run up to you to hug, but you shake your head as she is blocked by an invisible wall. She hits the wall with her hands, “No!” She cries. “No! This can’t be the end!”
“It’s not,” you say in a sweet voice as you step a little closer to her with the baby in your arms. “You’ll have him,” you hand her the baby and he passes through the wall. The incident put Leigh’s pregnancy at risk. You wouldn’t let her lose everything in one fell swoop. Especially not to the man she left. “I’ll watch over you two, always.” You promise as more tears roll down your eyes.
Leigh holds the baby in her arms and lets out a sob as she stares at his beautiful, soft, sleeping features. “Please cross over,” Leigh begs as she looks up at you. “Please, I can’t do this without you,” she continues, she hopes that when she wakes up you’ll be there. In a hospital bed, but alive.
You lift your lips up in a short smile as you shake your head, “I can’t.” You press the palms of your hands against the wall and they don’t pass through like the baby did. “You are stronger than you know. It will be okay. You have to go back now,” you say as a door opens behind Leigh. “I love you,” you say one last time.
“I can stay,” Leigh tries again.
You shake your head, “You can’t. It’s not your time yet.”
The energy from the door begins to pull her closer and you blow her a kiss as you wave her goodbye.
Leigh wakes up and finds her mom, sister, and Teddy asleep around the room. She wakes them up with her tears. The group of women had decided not to tell her about your passing until she was stable enough but it seems she already knows. They hold her as she cries.
A few months later, Leigh is welcoming your son into the world. Danny and Matt are being found guilty under first degree murder and are given two life sentences. As Leigh raises your son on her own she teaches him all about you with the help of Teddy. They make you out to be a hero because your memory deserves better than two drunk idiots. Leigh doesn’t marry again. She tries to date but after losing a future with you, she didn’t have it in her to look for another in anyone else.
Leigh keeps in contact with Teddy and your father so they can be part of your son’s life. She hated the circumstances in which she met the man. She had envisioned a nice dinner where they talked about him becoming a grandfather and possibly gaining a daughter-in-law. She knew you were going to pop the question at some point and she was preparing herself to say yes.
As the years go by, it gets easier to be without you. Except when your son has big moments. She knows that you’re there in spirit. But she would rather you be right there next to her in life. When he wins basketball games. When he introduces his significant others. Some are boys and some are girls. When he gets into college. When he graduates. The time he comes home to announce his engagement. The wedding. The birth of his first child. She hated that all of these moments were stolen from you. From her. From him. But as she joins you in the after life, you confirm that you were always there and it brings her peace.
The end.
I heard the voices of friends vanished and gone (Abel Morales X GN!reader)
Week 5: Struggles
Warnings: AIDS epidemic, Talk of Illness, Talk of death, Angst, probably some historical inaccuracies,
A/n: For @romanarose 's Pride event!
Words: 981
Abel walked into their home after a long day at the office. He was expecting to see his partner sitting in the living room, reading the evening paper or pehaps curled up with a good book. But not tonight, tonight he walks into chaos, their suit case in the living room half full of their things. He felt a thudding in his chest. What was happening, had he fucked something up? He set his brief case down and called out their name, walking quickly though the house to find them.
“Darling?” He poked his head into their bedroom to find them sitting on the couch with their head in their hands crying. Abel went straight into fix it mode. “What’s wrong, Talk to me.”
“I-Its Danny, he’s sick…He found…Lesions.” They looked at Abel, tears streaking down their face. Danny Their brother, The only family they had left. Abel tried to figure out what they meant. He took their hand in his and ran his thumb over their knuckles. That’s when it dawned on him.
“No…Not…Oh god…Danny.” Abel closed his eyes in dismay. The headlines flashing across his mind, everything he had read about AIDS, how many were dying. He had never really thought about it before Danny had come out of the closet, He had figured what people did in their own lives was up to them, not him.
“He’s in the hospital in Philly, I need to…Abel he’s all alone…” They looked up at him with tears in their eyes. Abel knew then and there.
“Okay get our bags packed I’ll call the office and I’ll get the car ready.” He pressed a kiss to the side of their head and stood up to do what he said, but he felt their hand around his. He looked back at them, worried there was more.
“Thank you.” They said softly.
“Of course…Danny’s family… We can’t leave him alone.”
~
The two hour drive was torture. There was no way to get an update until they got to the hospital, they had rung the hospital before they had left to let Danny know they were coming, But every minute was torture. They looked out the window, tapping a nervous rhythm on her leg, the music on the radio doing little to sooth their nerves. Abel looked over at them for a second before looking back at the road. He had, no idea how to comfort them, because for every comforting thing he could think to say, there was a voice in the back of his mind saying “You know that’s not true.” with a statistic or news article headline to back it up with evidence, which just lead to a long silent drive.
“He’s going to die Abel.” They softly said. The first thing he wanted to say was that they didn’t know that for sure, or that there had to be something they could do, but yet again, the fact was, there was no research to back that up, only a rising death count.
“I…I know. I’m so sorry darling.” He said gently as he put his hand on their thigh. Tears started to fall down their face again. They were glad for Abel’s stubborn need to be honest right then. The idea of hearing the typical comforting phrases right then was atrocious. They looked over at Abel, taking in his sharp features and focused gaze. They felt overwhelmingly grateful for everything that he was doing, taking time away from work, driving all the way to Philadelphia, being there for them in their time of need.
“Thank you Abel.” She smiles at him through the tears, He looks at her for a second before focusing on the road, gently squeezing their thigh again in response.
~
Abel stood outside the Hospital room listening to the doctor ramble on and on, while they sat by Danny’s bedside. It was obvious that this hospital wasn’t equipped for this, or were too prejudiced to give a damn. He had been shocked when they got there how bad Danny looked. He was sickly pale and thin as a pole, he barely looked like the man Abel had met many times over the years. Abel listened to the doctor talk about the treatments they had tried and how they were unequipped and that they might do better if they took Danny to a better hospital. It felt like the doctor was doing everything but right out saying “Make this queer someone else’s problem.” Abel Nodded along occasionally glancing over at his partner. They were sitting in the chair next to Danny’s bedside and holding his hand, dirty looks from the nurses be dammed, this is Danny, their brother, the one person they could trust with everything.
“I’ll handle it, thank you doctor.” Abel muttered before going in the room. He put a hand on their shoulder bringing their focus on him. “I’m going call the hospitals near us and find out who can take Danny, He deserves the best doctors. I’ll pay for it.” Abel said with authority, this wasn’t something they were supposed to argue with, he had already made up his mind. They nodded. They felt like they should say something, show how thankful they are for him figuring this out, for doing everything he can, but they can’t seem to find the right words. As Abel pressed a kiss to the side of their face and took a moment to reach out and touch Danny’s blanket covered sleeping form, they knew one thing. This was something they would never forget. Even in the years to come, when Danny was gone, when they would start an organization in his name, when they would fight alongside many just like him for their rights, they would remember everything that Abel did to save Danny despite the inevitable.
They could never repay him
They never had to.
KKera Daniel with CKera Terry is so dirty yet so hot hahaha.
Just naive, innocent young Daniel totally swept off his feet by this much older billionaire. It's a massive scandal but since when has Terry cared? Maybe it starts off the summer graduates high school, 18 years old and he gets a job working as some sort of maid (?) in Terry's house, anything to pay the bills since he has no one else and isn't sure what he wants to do with his life (spoiler: he's gonna do Terry lmao)
And he catches Terry's eye Big Time because he's pretty and sweet and sassy. Maybe he's clumsy and trips right by Terry, and (ever the fake!gentleman) helps Danny to his feet and sees the scared doe-eyes and the floppy hair and the bitten lip. And Daniel is scared he's gonna get fired because he broke this expensive vase, and god, Mr. Silver is very handsome, and he's kinda had a thing for older men for a while now...
Daniel's totally a virgin and Terry is hugely delighted about this and ruins him for anyone else. The sex is dirty and hot and filthy and Daniel loves every second.
In some sense the affair ruins daniel's life because the public thinks of him as a golddigging slut, a whore who took advantage of this "old man"--and it's nothing like that-- hell, Terry is the one who made all the moves and Daniel was like putty in his hands! but Terry reassures Danny that he will leave him enough to live comfortably after he dies, so fuck public opinion and let them enjoy each other while they can...
The only sad thing is the age difference :(
If it’s wrong I don’t want to feel right - it’s something I have thought about and have done stories in my head but have yet to write (maybe sometimes they are ABO 😈 paperback novel style - Daniel a rare male omega and Terry in need of an heir - so Daniel offers himself up to an omega matching agency for wealthy alphas - He agrees to marry Terry in exchange for financial gain - not for himself but because his family needs it).
But imagine this Terry - and his expression is because he’s laying eyes on Daniel for the first time …….. just saying.
The agency had contacted Terry right away, considering the price Daniel can fetch - a pure male omega capable of bearing many heirs for the Silver Dynasty - It’s not secret he’s been looking for one. He’s had his name with every matching agency across the country, and there’s the fact that he has the deepest pockets and the agency gets a cut.
But we could tweak your idea as well / maybe Daniel gets a job and Terry can sense he is an omega upon first meeting him - a rare male omega (if you’re going ABO you gotta do all the tropes) and isn’t that beyond lucky - he’s EXACTLY what Terry has been looking for.
Maybe Terry interviewed him himself and that's why he hired him and keeps him on despite not being the best at this kind of thing. (This is similar to a Nanny Au idea - omega Daniel hired by Terry to watch his newest acquired niece and Nephew - I think I had an ask about that .
He starts to do things - scenting him - spending a lot of time around him - knowing these things will both warn off any alpha who thinks Daniel is available and that it will trigger a heat.
Poor Daniel is none the wiser about what is happening - having no experience with Alphas in a mating sense.
Terry knows it's only a matter of time before Daniel responds on an instinctual/subconscious level and goes into heat - intending to take him when he does.
Daniel has never had a heat and a first has no idea what is going on / drawn to Terry's room where's found, humping Terry's pillow, face buried in the sheets for his smell.
Terry follows the smell through the house until he finds him like that - pillow soaked - Daniel frustrated because although he can make himself come it's not giving him the relief he needs - the true sense of relief that only a knot can give him
Daniel is ready for the picking now.
"I'll take care of you. I know exactly what you need and I'm going to give it to you."
Although the first heat is meant to be more of a bonding/mating heat - he does knock him up (and in a darker AU maybe he tampers with the birth control to ensure that).
It's a shotgun wedding after that of course - although everyone knows why.
Daniel nervously trying to hide his pregnancy - worried about Terry's reaction - he already heard the whispers when Terry made him courtship public and he started taking him out on dates - what people would say about him.
Terry is elated of course (it was his doing after all) and tells Daniel he'll take such good care of him and his pups.
"Pups?"
Terry laughs, hand on his stomach. "Of course Daniel. Did you think l'm only going to get you like this once?"
"You were made for this - made for me."
There are the whispers that Daniel did it deliberately-knowing his heat would cause Terry into claiming him but Terry knows the difference.
Oh, he knows all too well.
She chuckled, though it was fake and sarcastic. “I need to catch up faster, because this isn’t working; I am still so behind on everything I need to be able to do, excluding archery.” She scoffed. “This year has been nothing compared to before. Before, either me or somebody else was on the brink of dying every week, so I’d take getting almost killed once every three months over that any day.”
She sighed, pulling away from him. “See, you say that every time, but I know you’re lying. I’m obviously not that strong, so I’d rather have you just say that than lie just to make me feel better and give me false hope.”
“Hiccup, it happened two days ago, of course they still care— y’know, I wish you could start being honest with me, say stuff as it is and not just try to make me feel better, because it’s starting to get on my nerves,” she said, hugging her knees to her chest.
“He can do a little more than ridicule you, you know… He could try to overthrow you again or something..”
She immediately took note of his flat tone of voice, and a small wave of guilt came over her. She knew Hiccup didn’t have his mom growing up, and now here she was, probably making him upset because she was getting affection that he never got. Maybe she should stop calling Valka ‘mom’…
“Sorry.” Was all she said, her tone a little upset.
“But it’s already been a year, and I don’t know how long I can keep being patient for. And I also don’t feel like I’m getting anywhere.”
He was usually better at this, what was he saying wrong? Why couldn't she see it?
"Danny? Think about this for a second. A year ago, you were camping in the cove, insisting on leaving Berk. You refused to trust anyone and anything. You wouldn't go anywhere near Toothless or any other dragon. And now? You not only have a dragon of your own, but you're part of the Haddock family now. You smile and laugh with us and Camicazi, and correct me if I'm wrong, but you're much happier than you used to be, right?"
He paused. "You need to stop comparing yourself to others, or you'll get nowhere. Since we've met, you've come so far, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't proud of you. I say you're stronger than you realize because it's true. For some reason, you just refuse to believe it..."
Sighing, he ran a hand through his hair. "Did the people have a lot of questions that day? Yes, they did. But they were more curious than angry. Spitelout just knew what to say to rile them up, but once they saw the truth, a lot of them seemed to not mind that you were Drago's daughter. Especially since you've already been here a year, and as far as they know, there haven't been any incidents since."
The most important thing was keeping the big one a secret, if Spitelout found out that a hunter had snuck in and almost succeeded in killing Hiccup, nothing would be able to stop him from taking over.
"He could try, but after what happened, I think the people will think twice before following him."
At her sorry, he blinked, a little confused, before it clicked. "What? Oh, no. No, don't be sorry, it's fine, really. Mom and I, we're fine." And he meant it.
It was hard to see your own progress sometimes. "You've made big strides already. This may be a little setback, but you'll get through it, you're too determined not to." He smiled at her encouragingly.
