Can I get and info dump on Sciosa? What if anything inspired you to create her?
yes, always yes.
Sciosa's name actually came from an old mary sue character of mine from middle school, though the character we know now as Sciosa is are from that character. The OG was a whiny crybaby who couldn't do jack shit to save herself and relied on a toxic lover to do everything for her (ew). Sciosa now is borderline over powered and is a very complex and flawed character.
I've said this before but Sciosa can smite a city from existence, but that's not what makes her interesting. It's what got her to that point that she would even consider it and why she would/wouldn't do it. (I use that example a lot when it's not her who is out there destroying cities lmao *eyes Zemorri*)
POTO's whole theme is power corrupts everyone who uses it, and having the mc be such a powerhouse makes it so fun to write. We follow her though 4 books and with each book the line between between "good" and "evil" grows thinner. She's not an antagonist and never will be, I wouldn't even say she's an anti-hero. She's just someone who has repeatedly had her patience and trust be tested by the gods, fate, and the very mortals she was put on nyrus to protect.
When I first created her, it was for a story that has since been scrapped but her role in that was actually very different. Zemorri was the hero and she was to act as a mentor to him and repent for the sins of her past life. She was very bitter and angry, and rarely had a filter on how she truly felt. That part hasn't really changed too much, though her anger doesn't really appear until POTD. Though she still doesn't have a filter, and if she does filter herself you best better worry.
Sciosa at her core is a young women who laments for a "normal" life. She did not ask to be the Dawn Star but she has accepted her fate to the best of her ability and tries to carry the burden with as much grace as she can. She's 30 at the start of POTO, but that's is so, sooo young for both Zaentri and being born into the bloodline of Duskinfall. Zaentri being half Zaentiraeal from her mother and the bloodline of Duskinfall having an extended life expectancy to help maintain the bloodline until the Dawn Star is born. Mentally she is about 18. Imagine asking an 18 year old to make sure ALL living things on earth are sheltered, with have enough food and water to survive until the Hells are defeated (which could be months or years) that there is enough kindling to keep fires lit as the sun will not rise until the demons are either killed or returned to the hells. On top of that she is expected to rally an army and aid the gods in their fight. Girl I'd be pissed off too, she should be at the club.
Oh and there's a lot that inspired her!! Ciri from the Witcher, Daenerys from ASOIAF and GOT (actually season 8 Dany got me curious of how much would it take to truly break a person to the point of pure destruction. Saying this with my full chest, I'm not mad she went crazy I'm mad it wasn't properly written but I digress) Honestly even a bit of Yen from the Witcher too ngl. There's a picture that I've shared before that was basically the birth of POTO because I wanted to write a scene of it but being me I can't just so one scene I had to do a whole series. Weirdly enough even Lunafreya gave me some inspiration for both Sciosa and the High Priestess' of Zenier. I'd say even a little bit of Zelda, though I haven't played any of the legend of Zelda games in a hot hot minute lol. Last one but it just occurred to me and made me laugh but I think at times she reminds me of Jesus? Bro tell me why so many of these people end up being killed... dany, lunafreya, jesus I swear to GOD Sciosa does not die LMAOOO
Oof okay. That was a lot. but thank you for the ask wyked!! I don't talk about her enough tbh, Zemorri kinda just steals the spot light a lot.
#ask#p: poto#oc: sciosa#juno write a short and sweet answer for one challenge failed#i guess you did want an info dump#okay don't feel too bad now

you like destiny 2? You????? Like destiny???
IF YOU LIKE IT SO MUCH PUT BENTLEY AND ASTEN IN IT 🔫🔫🔫
Oh MAN this is the whackiest crossover I've ever done and I'm STOKED about it... also there's a little synopsis of destiny under the cut for my bentley followers that have no clue what I'm on about. bentley and asten would not even be remotely similar in this au, therefore there's actually TWO little stories in this post, one for each of them... yeah I went a little overboard but ITS FINE IM HAVING FUN *unintelligible weeping*
Project: Killcode Drabbles
tw: destiny typical violence, gore, emeto, cursing (only in asten's)
wanna read the extended fic? here’s the table of contents!
⚠️ THIS IS NOT PART OF BENTLEY’S MAIN STORYLINE, THIS BENTLEY & ASTEN INSERTED INTO AN AU (ALTERNATE UNIVERSE.)
Hi! here’s the briefest of overviews for my Bentley peeps that have no clue what Destiny is:
(I’m sorry destiny is so detailed you can’t actually be brief about it, these are the things I think are fundamental for understanding these pieces)
Destiny is a first person shooter/space travel rpg set in a time when the world has collapsed and the remaining facets of humanity live largely in a city called The Last City on Earth. In order to protect humanity from (a lot of) invading alien forces, the Traveler (a giant floating ball that helped humanity stay alive during the bad times) released hundreds of thousands of small robots called Ghosts into the solar system — these Ghosts were to find one specific person among the dead, resurrect them as a Guardian, and give them the Traveler’s magic (called Light) so they could protect humanity. (Basically, the Traveler makes the Ghost, and the Ghost raises their specific Guardian from the dead and gives them epic superpowers in the forms of Fire powers (Solar Light), Electricity powers (Arc Light), and The Void powers (Void Light)). Ghosts can resurrect their Guardians every time they die, rendering them immortal, but the downside is that these individuals don’t remember any of their lives before they were raised as a Guardian and have to start completely anew. The only way a Guardian can die for good is if their Ghost dies as well.
There are three Classes of Guardians: Warlocks, Hunters, and Titans. Guardians don't get to choose which they are, and the nature of their powers are determined by which one they turn out to be.
In this work, Bentley is a Guardian (A warlock, specifically, while the other character featured in this is a Hunter named Crow). Bentley does not have guardian superpowers (yet)
Anyways, I'm rambling, but I hope I helped you understand this just a wee little bit! I don't even understand destiny fully tbh don't feel bad. Maybe it was enough to help you enjoy the story... lmaoooo I tried.
Also here are some pictures of some of the things mentioned to help you imagine them...
<< aka me trying really hard to help you imagine this so you have a good time
Crow ↗︎ (aka the love of my life, also the only reason Asten and Bentley meet each other in this AU.)
A Ghost ↗︎ (little floating robot; bentley’s is named sevyn, crow’s is glint, asten doesn’t have one)
Fallen ↗︎ (aka the only alien race you see in these stories)
BENTLEY ↴
THE COSMODROME, OLD EARTH, SOL SYSTEM -- 7:48PM —
“FOR THE RECORD, I THOUGHT THIS WAS A HORRENDOUS IDEA,”
Bentley sighed heavily, glaring over at the small robot that was hovering a few inches from his face. It was purple, fashioned from small floating segments with one glowing blue eye -- which was glaring right back at him with just about the most irritated look the little machine could muster.
“Because I didn't hear you the first five times, Sevyn,” Bentley mumbled. He was stationed with his back pressed flat against the surface of a large boulder, wedged on top of a layer of moss and mud, the stone wall of a cliffside ahead of him sandwiching him into the tight, damp space.
He’d never seen Old Earth before, besides looking off the balconies of the Tower he'd spent his entire Risen life in — which, in hindsight, was not great preparation for teleporting himself directly there on a whim. Everything looked the same, but bigger, and more expansive up close. The whole place was also crawling with various species of alien... which was a bit of a jarring experience considering he’d never actually seen one before. (He definitely hadn’t expected to teleport to Old Earth just to appear face-to-face with a four-armed freak of nature Sevyn insisted was a Fallen; hence why Bentley was now hiding between a rock and a hard spot.)
“You do realize you’re not allowed out of the Tower, right? That the Commander is gonna have your head?” Bentley's Ghost questioned anxiously, his segments spinning freely around his eye in a twitchy kind of way that let him know he was pretty irritated. “You do realize that you don’t know how to harness the Light for battle, right? That you have no guns? That no one knows where you are to come save your excruciatingly impulsive person?”
Bentley, again, rolled his eyes, pressing the soles of his tall brown boots harder into the stone wall ahead, to better hide himself from the Fallen he could hear clicking and hissing in the distance.
“If I die, you revive me. I’ve got my savior right here,” Bentley muttered, reaching up and tapping on Sevyn's eye, looking to his left. The sun was setting over the sector of Old Earth he was in -- called the Cosmodrome, if he remembered correctly. Being stuck there at night would not be a fun experience in the slightest.
Sevyn sighed heavily, shaking his head — well, technically, shaking his whole small robot self. In a disapproving, head shaking way. “If the Commander says you can’t leave the Tower, then you probably shouldn’t leave the tower. Following Crow, of all people! He’s so reckless; you know how many times Glint had to revive him in his pursuit of that Fallen Captain on his Hunt last week? Twenty-five! In one day!”
Bentley rubbed his hands together — it was getting cold now that the sun was setting, and his fingerless gloves weren’t exactly designed to help with warmth as much as they were to look cool. “He’s on a patrol. Patrols aren’t dangerous. I just need to find him.”
“Patrols aren’t…?“ Seven made an exasperated sound, his segments twitching wildly. “I know you think it’s unfair that you have to stay in the tower, but you were resurrected at thirteen! The Commander isn’t gonna send a thirteen year old Guardian into battle! There are good reasons you don’t know how to wield the Light!”
“So what, he expects me to stay in the Tower for my entire immortal life just so he doesn’t look bad? I’m never gonna get any older,” Bentley huffed, zipping up his brown bomber jacket. “Crow said he was going to The Forgotten Shore, didn't he?”
Sevyn bobbed up and down anxiously, his blue eye flicking around the area in a practiced, mechanical way. “And there’s about three hundred Fallen signals between you and there. How do you expect to get there?”
The teenager shrugged, eyes tracing the stone cliffside covered in vine. “Sneak?”
“Sneak around the aliens that can turn invisible and have the hearing of a wolf. Why didn’t I think of that?” Sevyn deadpanned. “I’m just going to teleport you back home so you can go sit in the corner and think about what you did.”
“What? No!” Bentley argued, reaching out to grab at the floating robot, who dodged his hand readily. “Stop it! I can do it! And if I can’t you can revive me!”
“Or we can go home and I can talk to the Commander about field work,”
Bentley made a humph noise. “He would never let me do field work. He thinks I’m five.”
“Technically speaking, you’re a few centuries younger than most Guardians,”
“Sevyn!”
“Just saying!”
Bentley sighed softly, daring to peek out of his hiding spot just enough to catch a glimpse of his surroundings. He’d managed to find himself in a small canyon of sorts, with a shallow creek running through it, illuminated gold by the sunlight that was bound to fade soon. Rocks and boulders jutted out of the sparsely grassed terrain, gracing him with just a little bit of cover to utilize against the Fallen he could see skittering around the rocky landscape.
The sight of them made him grimace. He’d never really seen an alien before — not up close, and definitely not alone. Their quartet of blue eyes were glowing in the dimming sunlight, lanky, strange bodies adorned with metal-bent armor and shreds of fabric organized into some semblance of clothing. They moved, some like people, some like apes, some like spiders. They weren't much larger than him, but they carried guns, and knives, and grenades, all situated on themselves and clasped tightly in the extra hands that sprouted from the sides of their bodies. Aliens with two arms were creepy enough; Bentley wasn’t sure why Fallen needed four.
He glanced around until his eyes lingered on another boulder, maybe four or five yards from his current one, close to the cliffside and large enough to render him hidden.
Sevyn made a mechanical beep. “Don’t even think about it.”
Bentley moved his legs, forcing himself to crouch in the small space. “Thinking about it.”
Sevyn, with an exasperated sigh, de-materialized himself, dispersing into atoms that fizzled into the air and disappeared, waiting to re-materialize again when his Guardian called for him.
Or, the more likely situation, when Bentley got himself killed and needed to be resurrected.
(Oh, well. Real Guardians were well versed with death. Some of them died like thirty times a day! Bentley had never died before — well, he had, obviously, but he didn’t remember that one. Since he was technically a Guardian, dying now that he had a Ghost didn’t matter all that much. It was what Guardians did! He’d just come back, like everyone always did. No big deal. It wasn’t like it would be scary, or terrifying, or horrific, or anything, if he just came back to life afterwards...)
With a small noise of effort, he propelled himself forward so quickly his boots left skid marks in the mud. He kept low, ran lightly, slipping from one place of cover to the next without making much of a peep at all.
Ducking into the shadows and pressing his back hard against the new rock he was hidden behind, he exhaled heavily. Beyond that boulder, there weren’t many more large enough to hide him — smaller stones and a few sparse trees, too young and thin to conceal him from view. The walls of the canyon curved up and above him, but they offered no protection, besides maybe darkening the cover of night that was approaching. Maybe if he waited until it was pitch black, he could slip past unseen. The Forgotten Shore was only on the other end of the canyon; surely he could make it.
If Crow was even still there come nightfall.
Bentley flinched when something clattered against the cliffside to his left with a shrill clang. Glancing over, he caught sight of something small, flashing. Suddenly, Sevyn's disembodied voice emanated from his immaterial state:
"Grenade!"
Fortunately for Bentley's appendages and organs, it was only a flashbang -- which still had to have been the absolute worst experience of his whole risen life. Before he could as much as flinch away, the thing had erupted with a BOOM! that left his ears ringing a pitch that threatened to split his skull, a blinding flash of light sending a ripple of searing pain through his eyeballs and into his brain. Everything went white.
The world seemed to move in slow motion as the piercing pitch screamed in his head, completely enabling him from thinking about anything else. He seemed to bring his hands up to his face at a snail's pace, scrubbing at his eyes as he was rendered temporarily, completely, terrifyingly blind.
"Eyes up, Guardian!" Sevyn called.
Bentley willed his eyes open just enough to be greeted by a bright white fog and the faint, dancing colors of stone and sunlight filtering through the blindness, if only a little. The faint colors of stone, sunlight, and some dark blob that was moving right toward him.
He wasn't sure what kind of sound he made, but he was sure it was embarrassing as he all but threw himself out from behind the boulder, still vigorously rubbing at his eyes with one hand, scrambling away from what he assumed was an alien with the rest of his strength. A loud crack! echoed from beside him, and he flinched, though he couldn't see what it was.
He continued to scramble until the effects of the grenade faded enough for him to decipher that yes; the thing chasing him was a four-armed alien with glowing blue eyes and...
Four knives?!
He rolled to the side just quick enough to miss the Fallen when it jumped, all four knives sinking into the dirt where he had been with four bone-chilling shinks!
Bentley must've kicked up dust with the speed he forced himself off of the ground, eyes flicking around wildly -- in addition to the one with the knives, there had to be at least ten more Fallen closing in on him. There were two wielding a quartet of knives just like the first -- and two with nothing, but they seemed hungry for blood all the same, like they were ready to physically bludgeon him to death. The rest of them seemed to have homemade guns of various shapes and sizes -- guns Bentley wasn't very keen on examining any closer than he already was.
The alien with the knives lurched again, and one of the weaponless ones dove straight for his legs, both of which he managed to dodge by tumbling ungracefully backwards -- hitting the ground and forcing himself up again, fast. A blue laser flickered in his still foggy eyes, and he jerked to the left, a long trail of blue electricity shooting past his head with an audible zing! from one of their rifles.
"Oh my God!" He managed to squeak as he ran full-speed, hurrying back to the first boulder and jumping behind it with a thump. Strings of lightning and other identifiable projectiles from their guns barraged the ground next to his cover so vigorously the electricity made his hair stand up.
"Sevyn, what do I do?!" He practically begged, the dull sounds of ammunition and electricity against stone and dirt finally warding off the ever-present ringing from his ears. His chest was heaving, heart pounding in his chest -- how did Guardians do battle every day?
"Run!" Was his Ghost's panicked reply.
So Bentley did, and just in time, too -- all three of the fallen with the knives, and one with nothing, came crawling and leaping over the boulder just as he moved away from it, banging their blades and fists against solid stone.
Bentley's boots pounded on the mud as he fled as quickly as his body could manage, blitzing past his second cover-boulder and continuing full-speed deeper into the canyon, toward where Crow said he'd be. It couldn't be that far. It couldn't.
The cracks and zips and bams of projectiles shooting past him were nearly deafening, a few of them close enough to take the hair off his head. One lucky wire of electricity hit it's mark, leaving a graze of searing agony streaking across his left shoulder and tearing the fabric of his jacket away.
Bentley's response was a shrill: "Ah!" That bounced along the walls of the canyon, and bringing his hand up to touch the would only made it explode into an even worse pain. He bit his lip, hard, and forced himself on as fast as his legs could pump, farther from the way he'd come, deeper into uncharted territory.
It took about thirty seconds of running for his surroundings to quiet, for him to slow to more of a jog. His wound was already throbbing uncomfortably, and the leather of his jacket was singed and curled up there -- the whole thing was unbearably nasty and the longer he looked at it, the more he thought he might pass out. He searched for cover but there wasn't any; only a few young trees, the creek, and rocks too small to hide him. Surely the Fallen were chasing him -- he needed some kind of plan.
He didn't get any longer to think about it -- something he hadn't seen nor heard grabbed his ankles mid-jog and sent him hurling face-first into the mud. His head hit with a slam that threatened to leave him disoriented, but he couldn't afford to be disoriented right then. Instead, he flipped himself over on the ground, and a Fallen appeared out of thin air, shrieking indecipherably in his face.
(He'd forgotten Sevyn said they could turn invisible.)
"Ah!" He cried out in terror, writhing under the alien that was looming over top of him, straddling his lower-body with all six of its appendages. In a panic, he wrenched his left foot out of one of its hands and used every available ounce of strength to kick it directly in the head with the heel of his boot. It shrieked again, releasing his other ankle. Bentley scrambled back and off the ground, taking off again with nothing but sheer panic coursing through his veins.
His first instinct was to scream: "Crow!" As if the far-off Guardian would be able to hear him all the way from the beach. Yelling was a horrible idea, yes, but he didn't seem to comprehend that at the time.
Nevertheless, he continued to pitifully shout: "Crow!" as he weaved through the darkening canyon, searching for cover but getting repetitively let down. Tears were burning behind his eyes now, though not just from the pain of the gunshot. He could hear footsteps behind him, some skittering, some booming, and others thumping quickly just like his. He didn't dare turn around -- he might've died from horror.
"Sevyn -- Crow!" Was all he could manage at the speed he was moving, with the amount of terror that was coursing through his body. There was a mechanical beep that came from nowhere that let him know Sevyn was trying to contact Crow's Ghost, Glint. A moment later, the sound of a failed communication line returned.
Bentley sprinted, biting his tongue so hard the metallic taste of blood blossomed on in his mouth. The scuffling, screeching sounds of the Fallen continued behind him, the zing! of a rifle shooting past his head every so often. The canyon he was following veered hard to the right, so he did, too, hoping the new direction would provide him with cover.
He skidded to an ungraceful stop as soon as he took the turn, dread washing over him like a shockwave.
Right around the corner were three more Fallen. Not the ones that were chasing him, but bigger ones, with better armor, nicer clothes. They had the same lanky build, the quartet of arms, but they had to be at least two, maybe three Bentley's tall, carrying guns that were probably the size of his entire body.
Bentley stopped, heart ripping a hole in his ribcage, breathing so quickly he was starting to feel lightheaded. All three of the giant Fallen looked at him curiously, one of them stowing its gun on its back and pulling out two blades instead -- large ones, and curved, like katanas.
Bentley glanced back the direction he'd come, the smaller Fallen stumbling over themselves and falling over each other in pursuit of him. He couldn't get past them, there were too many -- but he couldn't get past the big ones, either... and the canyon left him nowhere else to run.
(He was going to die.)
In his moment of hesitation, one of the big aliens lunged forward and grabbed him by the ankle, picking him up and making him dangle completely upside down.
"No! Crow!" Bentley screamed, thrashing and writhing in its grip. He wasn't sure why, but the alien tilted its head at him like a confused dog before rearing back and throwing him -- yes, throwing him, probably ten yards before he hit the stone wall of the canyon with a slam! and crumpled to the dirt.
A terrible pain radiated through his body, the entire right side of his person stinging like fire from the impact.
“Sevyn…” Bentley mumbled, but he didn’t have any time to move — he was suddenly grabbed and flipped over violently, landing on his back with a harsh thump. One of the big Fallen was there — the one who’d pulled out the knives. The other two big ones were looming behind it like guards, and the little Fallen that had been chasing Bentley were skittering around and making noises, but they didn’t come near, like they were afraid of the larger ones.
Bentley attempted to scramble backwards on all fours, but the alien, with a few inhuman clicks and a tilt of its head, jumped on top of him and crouched there. Two of its hands found his shoulders, a third finding his forehead, all but drilling him into the dirt with such force that his right shoulder popped and cracked with a searing pain that made him cry out.
The Fallen’s glowing, beaty eyes seemed to bore into his skull as it held a knife in its free hand — the long, sort of katana looking weapon with machine parts at the hilt and coil wrapped around the blade. There were tiny bolts of electricity sparking and arcing around it.
(He was going to die.)
Bentley couldn’t see very good, and he quickly realized it was because he was starting to cry. “Crow!”
“Sh, sh, sh,” The Alien tutted, and Bentley writhed and thrashed under its weight when he realized they could talk. The thrashing didn’t do much good — the alien had to be nearly five times as heavy as him.
“Crow!” He tried, desperately — he could feel tears streaking down the sides of his face now, still obscuring his vision and blurring the image of the alien whose head was only about a foot from his. The Fallen pushed him harder into the ground, making his other shoulder crack and pop with a jolt of terrible pain.
His response, this time, was sobs.
“Now, now, little Light,” The Fallen started, its voice strange, like gurgling and clicking overlaid on top of a human voice. It was low, and gravely, too, like an old man who smoked too much. “It will hurt only for a moment, yes? I will aim directly for your heart, yes?”
Bentley writhed again when it reached down and simply tapped the blade of the knife on the left side of his jacket, right where his heart would be.
“Yes, I have had much practice,”
Bentley sobbed, trying to move, to escape, but failing miserably. “Sevyn…”
He didn’t want to die. He knew he could come right back to life, but he didn’t want that alien to sink its electric knife into his heart — he could only imagine what it felt like. An agony that wouldn’t even come close to any sensation he’d ever felt before.
How did other Guardian’s die every day?
With one last round of animalistic clicks, the Fallen lifted the knife far above Bentley’s chest, tilting its head again when the teenager tried one last time (and failed one last time) to wriggle out of its grip. He wasn’t strong enough — all the strength in his entire tiny body wasn’t strong enough.
“Please,” Bentley choked.
SHNNK.
It took Bentley about a whole five seconds to realize that there was not a knife in his chest.
Instead, there was a flash of something white.
Crow was suddenly on the large Fallen’s shoulders, his combat knife buried deep into the alien’s skull. Bentley had never been happier to see his blue skin and bright, cheesy armor. He didn't think he'd ever been happier to see a human shaped creature in his life.
The alien’s grip on Bentley’s body loosened, and Crow leaped off of it, kicking it to the side so its massive weight didn’t crash down on top of either of them. He landed a perfectly executed flip, his Hunter cape settling over his head and face so he had to shove it off.
“Bentley,” He scolded, though Bentley didn’t really hear it. He was too focused on staring at the body of the Fallen that was now laying beside him, twitching menacingly but showing no further signs of life.
That thing had almost… almost…
All of the other Fallen, small and large alike, leaped into action, charging at the battle’s newest arrival with shrieks of rage for their dead friend. The zips and bams of their guns returned, and Bentley stayed low to the ground, the body of the dead Fallen large enough for him to use as measly cover.
Bentley watched in a silent sort of shock as a full-blown battle played out before his eyes. Crow dodged the Fallen’s projectiles with some kind of backwards summersault the child couldn’t even seem to comprehend, whipping Hawkmoon — the largest revolver Bentley had ever seen — out of a holster on his hip. He spun it around his fingers before he began repeatedly flicking the hammer, sending out eight back-to-back bam, bam, bams, each one resulting in a Fallen crumpling into an unmoving heap on the ground.
One of the large ones, now armed with a giant, electricity-sparking sword, swung for Crow’s head, which he ducked and slid away from just in time to not get decapitated. He dropped the cylinder from Hawkmoon and replaced it just as fast, turning and unleashing a lightning-fast stream of eight bullets into the monster’s chest. It roared, staggered, and hit the ground.
Its roar echoed and bounced through the canyon with a chillingly repetitive melody. Bentley watched in silence as Crow extended his hand, a ball of fire forming and spluttering in the air above his palm until he threw it right at the smaller Fallen that were attacking as a group — it exploded into a huge wall of flame that charred and burned the aliens into lifeless crisps on impact.
“Eyes up!”
Bentley looked up, coming face-to-face with Sevyn, who was hovering right in front of him. The little Ghost’s segments spun and twitched worriedly, his robotic eye flicking about Bentley’s form with a little bit of pity in its mechanical iris. “I’ve got you, Guardian.”
Sevyn then moved toward Bentley’s left shoulder, a small spray of light shining from his eye onto the teenager’s wounds that almost felt like a layer of cold mist. Bentley couldn’t help but sigh in relief as the pain was warded away, the Ghost’s Light slowly rebuilding and reattaching the very atoms of his flesh — closing up the gunshot wound and shifting his shoulders back into place in mere moments. The scratches and bruises he could already feel forming across his body from hitting the cliffside dulled in discomfort in seconds, until they disappeared entirely from existence.
In only a moment, Bentley was whole again.
Sevyn moved forward, tapping himself gently against Bentley’s forehead in an affectionate gesture, before fizzling into atoms again.
When Bentley looked up, all of the Fallen were dead, and Crow was standing in the midst of the corpses, revolver in one hand, his Ghost, Glint, hovering just above the other. The little crimson robot moved about the older Guardian, shining his healing light on his injuries and mending them in a blink. He disappeared into a fizzle of atoms right after.
Bentley exhaled shakily, bringing a dirty hand up to wipe and his still watering eyes. He scooted slowly away from the body of the Fallen he had been using for cover, cringing at the still sparking knife that was laying in the dirt not a foot from his boot -- the knife it was going to sink into his chest. Into his heart. He brought one hand up to his jacket and tugged at it, eyes unmoving.
It was only then that he noticed how badly his hands were still shaking — how hard his heart was pumping, how shallowly and quickly and shakily he was still breathing. He couldn’t really get much air into him at all. And he couldn't seem to stop crying.
Crow’s boots came to a stop in front of him. “What are you doing outside of the Tower?” He all but demanded.
Bentley opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out, eyes locked solely on the alien corpse. After a few moments of that, Crow moved forward and hauled him off the ground, gently, setting him on his wobbly feet and checking him over for injuries. The older Guardian was speaking, but Bentley couldn’t really hear it, his eyes still lingering on the knife. The crack, crack, crack of the electric blade made him want to throw it off a cliff. He sniffed and hiccuped as softly as he could, bringing a hand up in an attempt to quiet it.
“Hey, focus on me, Little Light,”
Bentley blinked when Crow manually turned his head so their gazes met. He was taller than the teenager by maybe a foot, maybe more, his dazzling skin a pale blue that looked foreign next to Bentley’s pasty beige. He pushed some of his black and white hair back from his eyes, the glowing, orange orbs locking onto Bentley’s and staying there. He wasn’t sure how old Crow was — he looked to be in his early twenties, but for all the teenager knew, he could’ve been hundreds of years old. But however old he was, he was familiar -- and that was comforting enough.
Bentley broke their eye contact to look straight down at his own boots, rubbing at his eyes, pushing his red hair out of his face.
“I’m sorry,” He whispered.
With a sigh, Crow put his hand on the back of Bentley's head and tugged him into his chest. “You’re okay, kid.”
Bentley squeezed his eyes shut and kept his hands over his face, the sudden hug only seeming to make the crying worse. “That was so scary.”
“I know,”
There was a little whoosh that let Bentley know Sevyn had materialized by his side, and a second whoosh, which must’ve been Crow’s Ghost appearing, too.
"Let's get you out of here, yeah?" Sevyn's voice came, close to his head.
Before Bentley could respond, a low rumble shook the ground beneath their boots, the loud, menacing whir of an approaching ship piercing the air. Bentley pulled away from Crow to glance up to the sky — in not a millisecond, a large ship was hanging there, casting a huge, dark shadow over them. It looked almost primordial, cobbled together skillfully with metals and machines.
Bentley was no expert on alien things, but he was pretty sure that wasn’t a Guardian’s ship.
“Sevyn, get Bentley out of here. Now,” Crow demanded, pulling the shiny silver revolver from his hip and replacing the cylinder in one swift motion. Glint, his little crimson Ghost, spun and then disappeared in a fizzle of atoms.
Sevyn hovered up next to Bentley’s head, his purple segments spinning, emanating a few small beeping sounds. “I… I can’t. Something in that Fallen ship is jamming my signal! I’ve never felt anything like it before — like a solid wall between us and the Vanguard!”
“Splicers?” Crow whispered. Bentley didn’t know what those were, and he decided he probably didn’t want to. Crow glanced back at him, reaching back and squeezing his shoulder. “Hide. And Sevyn; stay out of sight.”
Sevyn fizzled away, and Bentley quickly returned to the only cover in the area — behind the body of the big, dead Fallen.
Not a second after he was hidden, the bottom of the ship sprung open, and several mechanical arms came out of it. They each held an alien, and dropped them from the ship onto the ground before retracting and fetching another.
Bentley immediately noticed three things about this particular group of Fallen:
1) They were all the big kind, some even bigger than the dead one he was hiding behind. And their armor was nicer, cleaner, better. They dawned capes and hoods that looked like they could’ve been made by people instead of the rough looking outfits the little ones had been wearing.
2) They all seemed to have some type of machinery on them, wether that be strange, glowing goggles over their blue eyes, backpacks that looked more like a giant radio with antennas, or literal limbs replaced by robotic parts. He wasn’t sure why, but they were more off-putting than the normal Fallen.
And 3) Their weapons looked better, more powerful, though there were more knives and swords and less guns — only three with guns, really; and they all seemed really angry.
There were probably two dozen of them, and only one Crow. The ship whirred and shot off, disappearing into the sky beyond, leaving its warriors behind.
Even starkly outnumbered by aliens twice and three times his size, Crow didn’t hesitate to leap into action. One of the Fallen shot at him with a big, strange rifle — a glowing orange projectile that whirred and made weird noises. Crow dodged it by sliding directly at the alien's feet, coming back up and swiping at the hammer of Hawkmoon, sending three methodical shots into the Fallen — chest, throat, head. It hit the ground.
Bentley stayed crouched behind the corpse as low as he could, and Sevyn’s disembodied voice came from nowhere: “As soon as I get a stable connection, I’m sending you anywhere but here!”
“We’re just going to leave him?” Bentley whispered, watching Crow dodge another electric knife-sword-thing and slide between a huge Fallen’s legs, popping up behind him and jerking on its cape with his full weight. It’s back arched, sending its head down to Crow’s level, and he sent two bullets into it. Its body made a thump.
“He’d appreciate the sentiment, Guardian, but given the fact that you have zero training or abilities to fight with, staying is… well, kind of stupid,”
Bentley said nothing, but watched Crow do another chest-neck-head trio of shots, dropping his cylinder and replacing it with another while dodging a blade with some kind of flip-spin-thing. Three huge Fallen down, twenty-ish to go.
“I’m reading the Tower! It’s faint, but it’s there! Probably only a few more minutes before I can get you there!” Sevyn announced.
Crow released more rounds and dropped two more Fallen, dodging strange orange projectiles and blades like he was nothing more than a shadow. The aliens, big and strong as they were, seemed to be no match for an agile Hunter like him.
(Bentley wished the Commander would let him learn how to fight like that.)
As if on queue with Bentley’s thoughts, Crow got struck in the shoulder by one of the strange orange projectiles with a ding! sound against his armor. There was no blood, and he didn't seem to be in pain. There was a tiny metal machine stuck to him instead, and orange electricity suddenly exploded out of it with a loud, crackling vengeance.
Bentley heard him cry out, collapsing and convulsing when the electricity pulsed through his body. The nearest Fallen grabbed him by the cloak and lifted him as though he were weightless, slinging him into a nearby cliff with a crack.
Bentley flinched, but before he could even move, Sevyn announced: “Don’t you dare get yourself seen! I mean it, Guardian!”
Crow’s Ghost began to materialize next to him, but he must’ve told him not to, because he waved his hand and the robot never fully appeared. The group of up-teen massive, scary Fallen were crowding where he laid, and like he was being tortured, Bentley had a line of sight directly between the aliens. Directly to Crow.
(He’d never seen another Guardian — or anyone — die before. Did he even want to watch?)
Sevyn answered that for him. “Don’t look, Guardian.”
Bentley couldn't look away.
Instead, he watched Crow flick his hand, summoning three sparks of fire that turned into flaming knives that he launched into the two nearest Fallen. One of the aliens caught two of the fiery blades in the face, stumbling back with a terrible screech. The other blade lodged in another Fallen’s throat; it went limp on impact.
The other seventeen closed in on Crow like a swarm of vultures.
Bentley saw him lift his hand up toward the sky like some sort of last stand — reaching for the final beams of fading sunlight. The Traveler was up there, too, the huge, white orb hovering over the planet like a second moon. Bentley wondered if it ever responded to Guardians… after all, it was what gave them their power, their Ghosts.
Bentley’s eyes drifted back down to Crow, whose hand was still outstretched — and the fleeting beams of sun came down to meet him.
With a loud whoosh and a flash of light, Crow’s entire body was engulfed in Solar Light, setting him on fire from the crown of his head to the soles of his boots without as much as singing his armor. In his outstretched hand formed a pistol made of pure flame — a rapid fire revolver like the one he carried.
Bentley flinched when the ablaze Hunter fired a fan of six shots into the crowd of Fallen with loud, almost deafening bangs, much much louder than Hawkmoon. The bullets, blazing with a fiery rage, incinerated the massive Fallen on impact and then continued to the ones behind, blowing fiery holes larger than a shotgun slug through their bodies and disintegrating them into piles of ash. A wave of heat washed over Bentley all the way from where he was, staring in shock and awe. Not an alien was left standing.
He’d never actually seen a Guardian do that before — channel all of their Light into a mega-magic-assault capable of destroying entire hordes of massive aliens. Vanguard slang called them supers, the most violent offense a Guardian could have in their arsenal — a final call to the Traveler’s magic for help, a last stand, an unleashing of all the power left within. The one Crow had just performed, Bentley had learned over the years, was referred to as The Golden Gun.
Crow then slumped back against the cliffside, the flames that had swallowed him fading, still convulsing and jerking thanks to the orange electricity coming from whatever little machine was stuck to him. Glint materialized next to him, frantically fluttering about, and Bentley shifted.
“Don’t! I’m still picking up Fallen signals inside the-“
Bentley ignored Sevyn’s orders and sprung to his feet, jogging across the now-empty canyon and little creek to Crow’s side.
“Crow!” He exclaimed, dropping to a crouch next to him. He eyed the little metal thing on Crow’s shoulder that was creating the electricity, and then he reached for it.
“Bentley, no!” Sevyn exclaimed, and Bentley cried out and flinched away when the strange electricity jumped to his hand, not only electrocuting him, but leaving his skin and muscles burning and tingling like he was holding his hand inside a extremely hot fire.
Sevyn materialized next to him in a blink, shining his healing light on it, immediately cooling it and staving the pain. “Need I teach you not to touch strange alien electronics?”
Bentley glanced from Sevyn back to Crow, who was jerking and writhing on the dirt under the influence of the electricity. His features were contorted into an expression of agony, and Glint was floating about, lost, watching as though Crow's pain hurt him, too.
Bentley eyed the little metal machine on his shoulder again.
"Bentley..." Sevyn started, glancing between him and Crow. "If you're thinking-"
Before Sevyn could continue his likely long-winded protest of his Guardian's impulsiveness, Bentley moved as fast as he could, biting his tongue and shooting his hand forward, ripping the small machine from Crow's shoulder in a blink.
It felt like he got struck by lightning, and he couldn't help but shout in pain when the electricity seared and stabbed its way up his whole arm. He threw the little machine to the side as his muscles tensed and tightened under his skin in response to the electric pulse.
"Sevyn!" He managed, shaking out his arm like it would help; tears immediately springing in his eyes at the strange numb-veins-filled-with-lava feeling it left him with.
"Geez, stop taking after the reckless ones!" Sevyn all but scolded, moving toward Bentley's arm and shining his healing light there, too. In his peripheral, Bentley could see Glint doing the same, moving methodically about Crow's body, starting at the worst of it and moving on from there.
"Will he be okay?" Bentley asked softly as Sevyn finished healing his arm for the second time, the small robot hovering close by his head. Crow seemed practically unconscious -- though Bentley didn't blame him. He probably would've blacked out on the spot, had his entire body been electrocuted like that.
"Of course he will. It'll just take me a bit to patch him up. What were you doing out here, anyways?" Glint questioned, still floating about Crow's battered body. Bentley shrugged.
"Just wanted to... do something. Other than sitting in the Tower all day,"
Glint hummed in response. "Ye old person-isolated-against-their-will-breaks-out-and-nearly-dies act. I could have assumed. No hate, of course -- I'm not one to talk. Crow and I spent a long time living under someone else's will, too."
Bentley's eyes trailed down to the ground he was sitting on, and Sevyn bumped himself against his shoulder supportively. "Chin up, Guardian."
Suddenly, the ground shook again, and Bentley, along with the two Ghosts, glanced around the canyon.
A second ship just like the first swooped down toward them, and a horrendous amount of dread blossomed in Bentley's stomach at the sight of the bottom opening up, mechanical arms extending outward.
He inhaled shakily, shifting on the ground. "Glint?"
Crow's Ghost was now working frantically, beeping in a weird pattern that indicated anxiety. "I'm working as fast as I can!"
The robotic arms reached into the ship and came back out with more Fallen -- the same, massive ones whose bodies were littering the floor of the canyon. It dropped two with a thud, and two more after. They were all carrying the terrible electric blades -- all but one, who had a gun that resembled a sniper rifle whose barrel was glowing orange.
There was a whoosh of Sevyn disappearing. "Hide, Glint!" He said from nowhere.
Crow's Ghost kept working despite Sevyn's words, bathing his Guardian in Light. "I'm almost done!"
"If you get sniped, you could cost Crow his life!"
Bentley barely heard the two robots bickering -- instead, he watched in silence as the huge Fallen zeroed in on him and Crow, clicking back and forth like they were communicating. The ship sped off into the distance and left the four aliens there, alone, with Bentley and two panicking robots; and the only one there that could defend them was hardly conscious.
Bentley blinked, and stared at the aliens, the strange realization that he was actually about to die washing over him and leaving him feeling oddly cold. (Didn't getting revived after make it okay...? Why didn't it feel okay?)
The Fallen with the rifle lifted it and pulled the trigger, a beam of orange electricity arcing through the air right toward them -- though it didn't hit Bentley; It was aimed at Glint, who narrowly dodged it by ducking to the side. The beam cracked loudly against the cliffside behind them.
Bentley reached out and grabbed Crow's Ghost by his eye, getting him out of sight the one way he knew how -- by holding him behind his back.
"Whoa, kid!"
"Bentley!"
Bentley looked forward, and all four of the massive Fallen were staring at him.
(He was about to die.)
But the Fallen didn't rush to take him down, no -- the one with the gun even stowed it, pulling out blades instead. They moved forward at a slow, menacing crawl, clicking back and forth, eyes trained on Bentley like they were mocking him. He stepped backwards until the heel of his boot nudged Crow's leg.
"Tiny Guardian," One in the front said -- it's voice sounded vaguely female, raspy and layered. It swiped its blades across one another with a shnnnnk. "Thought Lightbearers were bigger, yes?"
Bentley said nothing as the four of them moved closer like animals stalking their prey, eyes bouncing between the four of them. Their glowing, empty eyes, creepy, lanky statures. Part of him wanted to run and never stop, but the thought of leaving Crow there vulnerable and in the open made him feel vaguely sick. The fact that he could be brought back to life wasn't good enough to make Bentley's feet move. Glint wiggled around in his hand, fighting against his grip, but he didn't dare let him go.
"The Great Machine makes bad choice, yes," One of the others replied, a lower baritone. Did they mean the Traveler? "Yes; tiny Lightbearer smells of fear. Fear of death. Tiny Lightbearer has not met her yet."
Her? Her as in death?
Bentley cleared his throat, and the four of them glanced back at him with their glowing eyes, curiously. "I'm... right here, you know. Gossiping is bad."
Sevyn made a strangled noise in his immaterial state, likely revolting against Bentley's audacity.
The one closest to him -- that sounded vaguely like a girl -- made a few clicks, coming closer. "Tiny Lightbearer speaks, yes. Has attitude. Reminds Avix of her own son."
Bentley flinched with a gasp when she sprung towards him on all-sixes, crawling across the ground and rising back up mere feet from him. He scrambled backwards until he thudded into the cliffside next to Crow's unconscious form, keeping Glint hidden behind his back.
The alien stood, and stared, tilting her head back and forth with a few clicks. Bentley could practically feel his heart trying to escape his chest.
"Tiny Lightbearer is... harmless, yes." She said, turning to the other three and clicking. Then she looked back at Bentley, holding out one of her three-fingered hands. "Give Avix Little Machine -- then run, yes?"
Bentley tightened his hold around Glint, exhaling shakily, staring at her hand. "Uh... n-no."
He gasped when the giant Fallen -- Avix -- moved forward, forcing him backwards until he was pinned between the cliffside and her, Glint pinned tightly behind him. She reached forward at the speed of a cobra's strike and grabbed his face with her giant, gross hand, squeezing lightly. Bentley let out a sound akin to a squeak, his other hand coming up in an attempt to bat her's away, a burn already threatening to surface behind his eyes.
"G... get off," He said, but it wasn't threatening in the slightest.
Avix kept getting closer, crouching down until her face was mere inches from his own, her glowing eyes staring right into his. The crackling of her electrified blade came from one of her other hands, and his eyes flicked to it momentarily.
"Look at me!" She shrieked deafeningly in his face, and Bentley couldn't help but jump out of his skin, forcing himself to lock gazes with her again. The burn behind his eyes got worse, and his vision started going watery -- he didn't want to die.
"Tiny Lightbearer cries, yes. Has not met death. Smells of much fear, yes, much fear," She stammered, shaking his face when he glanced at the blade again, forcing his eyes back on her. "Give Avix little machine -- Tiny Lightbearer will not meet her. Avix says so. Avix is leader, yes. Others will not kill what Avix does not kill."
Bentley glanced back at the other three Fallen, who were staying in the distance, weapons drawn, lurking here and there in the now almost pitch-black canyon.
The odd feeling of Glint de-materializing between his fingertips made something in Bentley relax.
Carefully, he lifted both of his hands to the giant alien, palms out and open, revealing that there was no robot there.
Avix jerked Bentley away from the wall to check behind him, and when there was nothing there, she made a loud, unidentifiable screech and shoved him into the stone with a thud so hard it seemed to rattle his bones and leave his head foggy. With a few clicks and hisses, she stalked her way back to the other three and turned on her heel.
“Tiny Lightbearer dies,” She growled, and the one behind her pulled out its rifle again. “His body comes with Avix, yes. I have plans for when Tiny Lightbearer rises. He will not disrespect Avix again, yes, yes.”
They were going to kill him? And then take him with them?
Bentley glanced at Crow, who was still unresponsive.
“Sevyn?”
“It’s now or never, Guardian! Channel the Traveler’s Light! Call on it! I’ll help you the best I can!” Sevyn exclaimed from nowhere.
“I can’t use the Light!” Bentley replied, and a wire of orange shot from the rifle, zinging right past his head, only narrowly missing thanks to a well-timed duck.
“Now would be a great time to learn!” Sevyn shouted. “Just imagine yourself destroying all these Fallen using the Light!”
With no other options, Bentley ducked behind one of the massive Fallen bodies and closed his eyes, hoping and praying the Traveler would help him.
“Feel the Light inside of you, Guardian. It is in you, whether you believe it is or not. You can do this,” Sevyn mumbled. Another zing! went past Bentley, and he flinched. “Focus — Concentrate. I have my eye on the Fallen.”
Bentley tried. How was he supposed to feel the Light now when he’d never felt it before? He’d heard stories — that most Guardians found their Light in times of dire trouble, and he was pretty sure getting kidnapped by aliens counted.
“Tiny Lightbearer!” Avix’s enraged voice came, growing closer to him. “Hiding is futile when Avix knows where you are, yes!”
Bentley focused really hard on his own body, imagining the Light like Sevyn had said. How did other Guardians do this so easily, so fluidly?
“Tiny Lightbearer will make Avix good pet, yes! Fun to watch squirm!” She shouted, her voice drawing nearer and nearer.
Bentley suddenly felt… strange. Not in a bad way, though — strange like something simultaneously cold and boiling was pooling in his fingertips. Like something was moving through his veins, like gasoline -- cool, but also ready to explode. He peeled his eyes open to glance at his hands, and-
They were surging with bright, glowing Arc Light, white-blue bolts of electricity sparking from his fingertips and crackling across his skin, though it didn’t hurt. It felt like his whole being was buzzing, vibrating in anticipation. He felt… empowered.
“Now, Guardian!”
At Sevyn’s mark, Bentley stood up and turned, extending his electrified palms outward. An unknown, never-before-felt power surged inside of him. Electricity seemed to burst out of his entire body, crackling, striking, bolts of lightning crawling across his skin and cracking atop his clothes. It illuminated the entire canyon in the nighttime with a blinding, luminescent glow.
He felt his feet leave the ground. Avix and her three minions were not too far from where he was, now, blades and rifle drawn to attack.
Bentley cried out when power exploded from him, a solid beam of screaming electricity shooting from the palm of his right hand. It slammed directly into Avix’s chest, knocking her backwards maybe six or seven yards, boring a charred hole through her chest and disintegrating her entire body not a second after. Bentley made a sound of surprise as the smell of charred flesh and static electricity filled the air.
“Keep going, Guardian! You’re doing it!” Sevyn encouraged, sounding probably the giddiest he ever had. At his excitement, Bentley turned his sights to the other three Fallen, and the beam of electricity followed where he led. He raked it across the final trio of aliens and it blitzed right through them, severing their bodies in half before incinerating them completely.
As soon as the four Fallen were dead, Bentley’s power, as well as all his remaining strength, fled, and he fell a few feet before crashing hands-and-knees in the dirt. His whole body was still buzzing, his arms and legs tingling with the remnants of leftover power. Everything around him seemed to be swimming a little, sounds muffled and vision swirling around his head. He felt like he could go to bed and sleep for a year.
There were two little whooshes next to his face.
“You did it! You casted a super! Bentley, you’re a Warlock!” Sevyn all but screamed, hovering up close to his face, tapping himself gently on his forehead over and over. “You’re a Warlock! A Warlock!”
There was a small sound of Glint finishing his healing process, and Bentley heard Crow groan, sitting up a few yards to his right.
“Ugh. That was unpleasant,”
“While you were down, Bentley casted a super! Chaos Reach!” Sevyn screamed at him. “He’s a Warlock, Crow, a Warlock!”
With a grunt of effort, Bentley pushed his vibrating body off of the ground and onto his feet, teetering a bit on reaching his full height. Black dots danced around in his vision, but didn’t fully take over -- like they were taunting him. He couldn’t even seem to process the words Sevyn was screaming right in his face.
In the blink of an eye, Crow had come up next to him, both Ghosts hovering by his side.
“Yeah, he sure looks like he casted his first super,” Crow said with a snicker, and Bentley felt his gloved hand land on his left shoulder. He looked up at the older Guardian, but he couldn’t really focus on his pale blue face.
“Yep, there you go,”
Bentley didn't even realize he’d fallen over until he was hoisted limply up into Crow’s arms, settled against the soft front of his cloak.
“Mm… Sorry,” He hummed.
“Nah, you’re doing great to stay conscious at all. I passed flat out as soon as I came out of my first super. In the middle of a horde of Taken, no less,”
Bentley didn’t know anything about Taken besides the fact that they were aliens, but he also didn’t have the willpower to ask.
“I’ve gotcha, kid. Glint, Sevyn, to the Tower please,” Crow ordered.
“On it!”
Bentley’s world proceeded to fade to black, but his hearing remained just long enough for him to hear Crow inhale and exhale deeply.
“I'm so dead for this.”

THE OUTSKIRTS OF THE LAST CITY, OLD EARTH, SOL SYSTEM -- 6:16PM
--
YOU SEE, ASTEN WAS A TOUGH KID. Tougher than most. Growing up homeless on the outskirts of the Last City presented him with no shortage of things he had to endure in order to merely survive — muggings, beatings, high-stakes chases, a life of thievery, actually getting stabbed, twice, flashy guns waved in his face, really bad habits, and lots of time spent cursing his existence into the wind. He’d survived more things than he’d like to admit in all his sixteen years. Forcing himself to fight with a knife in his shoulder and still coming out on top, having a Guardian called on him and watching it's Ghost scramble to resurrect them nearly six times before they ever got close enough to put a hand on him. In his mind, he was invincible — or at least he could be, when he needed to.
That invincibility seemed to have fled on this particular day, because he’d woken up having apparently caught the Black Plague. It was hard to move, to think, to breathe, to see, to hear — he felt trashier than a full dumpster from the Fallen District, and given he’d managed a stab wound and cauterization with half as much suffering, he knew he’d be down for the count, and soon.
So, he soldiered through it in his incredibly Asten way, willing himself to fix it before it killed him. He forced his way to the nearest pharmacy, walked in circles around it for about an hour, almost passed out twice, before he was able to form some semblance of a plan within his muddied brain.
And of course, it had backfired. Now, he was in a fenced-off back-alley of The Last City that he often used as a hideout, with a small pack full of stolen medicine, an entire platoon of security searching for him, and about as much will to move as a blade of grass. (Running at full-speed for a solid ten minutes away from the pharmacy hadn’t been the most brilliant idea for a kid sporting a fever so high he could practically hear his brain frying.)
Any other night after stealing something big like a bag full of expensive medicine, he’d be watching his surroundings extra carefully — moving to different hideouts methodically until the initial search was over and security gave him room to breathe… but tonight he wasn’t. Tonight, he was barely hidden from view by various dumpsters and trash cans, curled up, shivering on the cool concrete. It was mostly quiet there, and he could hear the wind whistling through the city. The only things that accompanied him in the dark, gross alley was the trash, a chain-link fence, and the walls. That was all.
While the air was pleasantly cool for the other inhabitants of the city, for him, it was an icy cold that made his skin tingle. He was shivering despite his blackish-blue hair and first layer of clothes being drenched with sweat. The strong smells coming from several different establishments and sewers were only working to make his head hurt worse and his stomach turn unsettlingly. Which, for him, was strange. Usually, the very prospect of food would have him climbing through vents or breaking open windows if it meant he wouldn’t have to go hungry for another day, but right now, he couldn’t bring himself to feel anything other than disgust at the very thought.
The stars shone brightly above the Last City. He would usually be staring at them, watching them move with a nonchalant air about him, going from here to there and sending guards to the wrong places over and over again. But tonight, he didn’t really have the willpower to open his eyes. Right now, he didn’t even have the willpower to take any of the stolen medicine.
He winced as his head throbbed with a newer, sharper pain than it had all day, probably in response to pushing his body way farther than it should’ve been pushed. He coiled up tighter. He was really glad no one really traveled those alleys, because he must’ve looked more pitiful than a crippled puppy. His arms and legs were aching in a way that made him want to weep, feeling like they were tied to cinder blocks he had to drag around with him. His head felt like it was full of cotton, hazy and blurry and a feeling a little bit like it might explode, like it had too much of something in it. Every organ in his body was revolting its very existence, and he swore he’d rather have a knife in him again than feel like that.
He’d made doubly sure his trusty sniper-rifle was within grasp — an old thing, dropped by a guy in a fight long ago — which, naturally, had led to him clutching onto the faithful firearm like other kids would a stuffed animal. It was smushed against his torso, safety on, because he had his arms wrapped securely around himself as to not upset his body anymore. It wasn’t the best weapon for close quarters fighting like running from security in the city, but it was all he had. He was pretty good at hip firing the thing anyways — not that he was looking to blow anyone’s head off anytime soon.
Even when he was wholly convinced he was dying, vague thoughts still pestered his mind — like the fact that most security knew about this particular hideout, and that most security definitely knew what he looked like, blue hair and all. He would’ve ditched his clothes and hid his hair after a normal heist. Instead, he pressed his burning forehead into the cool concrete beneath him and grimaced.
He drifted in and out of consciousness for a while. Sleep seemed like it would be a sweet release from the terrible state his body was in, but he couldn’t actually seem to fall asleep. Not while he had to keep one eye open for security. When they got here, he’d run, he kept telling himself. Just five more minutes. When he heard them, he’d go.
Those five more minutes turned into an indecipherable amount of time loathing his existence on the ground before a pair of voices flitted down the alley and made his head hurt worse.
“Are you sure this is where they said he went? There’s nothing out here!” Said a small voice — quiet, and somewhat… robotic? “They said he’d been stealing for years, surely he'd have a better place to hide!”
“I’m pretty sure hiding somewhere unsuspecting is the point, Glint. Run a thermal scan,”
Asten immediately forced his heavy eyes open as a realization dawned on him — that the first voice had been too robotic to be a human’s, overlaid with something mechanical. The second, too calm, too unbothered to be a guard on the City outskirts where sketchy people lurked and bad things crept in the shadows.
This wasn’t a pair of security guards — this was a Ghost and a Guardian.
They’d sicced a Lightbearer on him, again.
He felt his heart rate pick up as he pushed himself upright, the entire world spinning there for a few seconds before he was able to right himself. He fumbled for his bag and his rifle, forcing himself onto his feet only to careen into the alley wall thanks to the black dots dancing in his vision that had invited their friend violent vertigo to the party.
Last time they’d sent a Guardian out to pursue him, the Titan had been so brutal with his magical-superpowers and epic-hand-to-hand-skills that he didn’t let Asten breathe until he couldn’t move. Until he was beaten and battered and had lost enough blood that the huge Titan was able to drag him through the city streets by the collar of his jacket without a single sound falling from Asten’s lips except soft, nearly unidentifiable sobs. He’d been thirteen then. He wondered if all Guardians had a knack for torturing children who were just trying to live.
Something cold and mean blossomed in his chest when he realized that, in this state, he wouldn’t be able to survive a beating like that again.
Instead of deciding on something rational, like turning himself in, or simply begging for mercy and letting them know he was the sickest he’d ever been in his life, his first instinct was to grab a magazine from his belt and jam it into the bottom of his sniper rifle.
This Guardian was not going to touch him.
“I’m picking up a heat signature in the next alley,” Came the Ghost’s voice.
Once the vertigo had mostly subsided, Asten forced himself to move even though it made him feel like passing out and throwing up and maybe even dying on the spot. The chain-link fence on the opposite end of the alley would do little to keep the Guardian out, but maybe it’d give him just a little head-start. At this point, he’d take what he could get. He pushed himself out the back end of the alley, between the old buildings and the the city walls, and went to the left. Forced himself to move quickly and quietly even though it felt like torture, watching buildings pass as he went.
Once he reached a reasonable distance away, he turned back and shouldered his sniper rifle, sliding the lever with a click-click so it loaded a round. Bringing the sights up to his face, he let the reticle rest just on the mouth of the alley he’d left.
He wouldn’t feel bad for killing him. He wouldn’t. He’d just come right back to life… like Guardians always did. Better that Ghost have to work than Asten be reduced to a pretty little stain on the concrete. A pretty little stain on the concrete that didn’t have a Ghost to bring it back to life.
Not two seconds later, a Guardian broke the threshold of the alley — a Hunter, it looked like, for a long cape flowed behind his back. He looked strange, dawning white armor that sort of looked like scales, or feathers, maybe, with pale blue Awoken skin and no helmet. He had a large, shiny revolver in his hand that reflected light right in Asten’s eyes.
No helmet — a rookie mistake.
In one fluid, mechanical movement, his heart thumping wildly in his chest, Asten held his breath and took the shot.
BOOM!
Even though he was crouched, the recoil nearly knocked him over in his weak state, the boom leaving a piercing ring in his ears that threatened to crack his skull. The Guardian’s head exploded in a mist of red.
At the sight, Asten’s entire body twisted — his mind, his conscience, his morality, his guts — and his response in his sickly state was to gag. The ringing was still present in his ears, and he let the sniper rifle fall to brace one hand on the ground, staying crouched in the back-alley. Black dots came into his vision and danced around some more.
He let out a string of curses he barely heard, forcing his eyes back up to the body of the Hunter. His Ghost was hovering over him, glowing, its segments split wide open and spinning around a ball of bright Light.
Asten knew Ghost mannerisms well enough to know the Hunter was about to be resurrected. And he couldn’t be here when he was.
With that realization, he grabbed his rifle and forced himself onto his feet, again, still not hearing or seeing very well, his entire body screaming at him to stop. But he didn’t; instead, he forced himself forward and past a few more alleyways, only taking a right turn into one that he knew contained a fire escape. He fell into a wheezy, barky coughing fit that left him breathless and hardly able to stay upright; The only thing keeping him off the concrete at this point was pure adrenaline.
He reached for the medicine bag to make sure it was still on his shoulder, a terrible ache settling in his chest after the bout of coughing — a kind of soreness in his lungs that made even breathing painful. He wiped at his involuntarily watering eyes and pushed himself up the stairs of the fire escape, settling on the first platform and jerking on the lever of his sniper again, loading another round. The movement sent more pain streaking through his chest, and he coughed and coughed until he was seeing stars, felt unbearably hot, and thought his lungs might splat on the fire escape.
Luckily, they didn’t. Unluckily, the violent coughing made his lava-filled stomach churn, and he knew it wouldn’t be long before it demanded to have his undivided attention.
Despite the fact that his whole body felt like it might cave in on him, he crouched and lifted the rifle to his shoulder again, settling his eye on the scope. His arms proved too weak and shaky to hold it still, so he rested the barrel on the railing and aimed at the mouth of the alley.
“-this way!” The Ghost’s voice echoed in his head.
As soon as the white-clad Guardian rounded the corner, Asten wasted no time, a second shot from the sniper rifle ringing out and leaving an explosion of blood and another limp Guardian in it's wake. His Ghost appeared hovering over him — a little crimson robot with a worried air about him.
The recoil from the shot jolted Asten’s entire body. He saw stars again, heard nothing but ringing — a dagger of pain shot all the way through his torso, his shoulder, lungs, stomach, so sudden and sharp that it made him cry out. He reached for his thin jacket in an attempt to stave the pain — a terrible mistake, for his sniper rifle tipped over the railing and, even though he reached for it, his reflexes were botched. It dropped to the ground below with the telltale clatter of concrete on metal.
He looked up at the Ghost, the stars slowly fading from his vision; the little robot was staring at him.
He stared back.
And it dawned on him — now it was a race.
The Ghost immediately turned back to its Guardian and opened up frantically, expelling a bright light. Asten, with all his senses shot, conscious from nothing more than mere spite, forced himself to stumble back down the metal stairs. He had to focus all of his remaining energy into his legs just to keep from face-planting. And then-
And then another round of ultra-violent coughing sprung forth from inside of him, completely halting him in his tracks. His chest rattled and constricted with a vengeance, putting him in so much pain he actually considered crying. He had to completely stop moving just to keep from hitting the ground, and the coughing continued and continued and continued until everything he’d eaten in the not-so-distant past was displayed on the ground for the Ghost and Guardian to see. He had to move for a wall to stay upright, bracing himself against it and taking a moment to breathe — a painful action that sounded more like horrific wheezing.
Thankfully, his outburst seemed to have distracted the Ghost, who was back in one piece and blinking at him in surprise. For a moment, he thought the little thing might even try and speak to him — instead, it turned and opened up again, to raise its Guardian.
Asten glanced at the sniper rifle laying about a dozen feet from him. Moving for it, reloading, aiming, all while hardly able to make his body obey in the first place would take too long — the Guardian would be awake by then.
So he lunged for the Ghost instead.
The little robot shouted: “Ah!” When he grabbed it by its eye, and in a blind moment of adrenaline, he fumbled around on the concrete until he found the Guardian’s dropped revolver, pressing the cold barrel against the Ghost’s center.
“Oh, not again!” The little thing pleaded, writhing in his hand. “Let me go! I’ll contact the Vanguard!” It threatened.
“And I’ll blow you to bits and leave your Guardian to rot,” Asten hissed. He sent a glance to the Hunter, though he didn’t look for very long since a portion of his head was missing thanks to a bullet he'd let fly.
“Raise him,” He ordered at the Ghost.
“No!”
“Raise him!” He repeated, louder, though his voice was hoarse now, and his mouth tasted vile. Not that he had been very threatening in the first place. He pulled back the hammer of the revolver with a shrill click that echoed in the quiet alley.
“Okay, okay, okay!” The Ghost murmured, sighing heavily. It opened up, eye still held tightly in Asten’s hand, shining a bright light on its Guardian. For a split second, Asten’s hand that was engulfed in the light cooled off and he felt… okay.
And as soon as the Ghost closed and his Guardian sat up with a groan, Asten felt like a heaping pile of death again.
It took a few seconds for the Hunter to comprehend what was going on, his orange glowing eyes flicking around and then coming to rest on his Ghost.
“Crow…” The little robot begged, wiggling in Asten’s grip. Crow must’ve been the Guardian’s name, he guessed.
The Hunter — Crow — popped off of the ground, reaching for his holster that had no gun. His glowing orange eyes flicked to said holster, to the revolver in Asten’s hand; to the sniper rifle on the ground behind him.
“Hands up. You move, he dies,” Asten ordered. Crow obliged, lifting his gloved hands — though Asten knew he could blow him sky high with superpowers if he really wanted to. He just kinda hoped he… didn’t really want to. Or that he was threatening enough to dissuade him… maybe.
Crow and Asten stared at each other for a solid ten seconds, the former sending a glance to his Ghost. He shifted uncomfortably, like seeing the little robot — what had he called him earlier, Glint? — in such a dire situation physically pained him. Asten knew the relationships between Guardians and Ghosts were insanely intimate, like having a part of their soul manifested in physical form to aid them.
That’s why he kept the barrel of the gun pressed firmly against Glint’s eye when he growled: “Leave me the hell alone.”
“Look, I… I know you're scared. And I wouldn’t have chased you like that if I knew you were just a kid-” Crow moved, maybe to step forward, maybe to reach for Asten, he wasn’t sure -- but he squeezed the Ghost’s eye hard enough to make the robot squeak out a pained sound. The noise all but glued Crow’s feet to the concrete below them, and he stretched his hands out, a desperate look on his face. “Please, let him go. I’m not going to hurt you.”
“Bullshit,” Asten murmured. “I’ve been burned enough to know that's a half-assed lie. At least be more original.”
He tried to make it sound venomous, but given that the force he had to put into the words sent him into another moment of rough-sounding coughing, it probably came across more like an angry toddler.
“All I was told was that I was chasing perp with over a hundred robberies and years of stealing under his belt. I didn’t realize you were…” Crow trailed off, really taking in Asten’s appearance for the first time. He was pretty sure he looked like death incarnate, given he felt like it. His hand that was holding the revolver was shaking from the effort, but he didn’t dare let it move from the Ghost’s eye. “Well, I’m guessing you didn’t raid that pharmacy just for fun.”
“Just get the hell out of here, superhero. Once you’re out of sight, and once you promise not to follow me or come after me again, I’ll let your little pet go,” Coming up with and forcing out words was starting to become way more of a task than it should’ve been, and Asten’s head started getting foggy, everything feeling a little bit… off. More off.
Crow watched him intently with his glowing eyes. “Maybe I shouldn’t leave you out here.”
“Like hell you’re taking me anywhere,” Asten hissed, the sudden, loud words sending a burst of pain through his head that made him wince, though he thought he hid it pretty well under a scowl. “You’re-”
A few quiet noises emanated from the robot, and Asten glanced over with an appalled expression when it shined a bright light up and down his face, like it was scanning him.
“What the f-”
“Internal temperature is one-hundred-four-point-five degrees,” Glint announced, as though he didn’t still have a gun pressed to his eye. “He’s very… well… he’s very unwell, Crow. He threw up on the ground right before you woke. Hardly-”
“Don’t talk about me like I’m not here,” Asten forced out, gritting his teeth at the pain it sent rippling from his head, down his neck and into his chest. He coughed a few times, muffling them by keeping his mouth closed. His voice was completely and utterly gone when he rasped out: “I just want you to… leave.”
“Sent out to take medicine from a sick kid. Why do I get stuck with all these jobs?” Crow muttered, mostly to Glint, but also to himself. “Look, what’s your name?”
Asten scowled. “Not-stupid-enough-to-answer-that-McGee.”
Crow breathed in and out, visibly irritated, though he pushed it back and kept his composure, trying a different approach instead. “I know you feel like shit -- flu’s been going around the City like no one’s ever seen. Lots of people have been hospitalized. The Vanguard even has Guardians helping out in some of the medical establishments around.”
Asten didn’t reply -- because, what was he really supposed to say to that, anyways? Plus, he was starting to feel nauseous again, so he didn’t really want to open his mouth.
“I spent a long time doing… bad things just to keep myself alive. Worse than stealing someone's food or robbing a place,” Crow started, holding a hand out to him. “I know how hard it is to trust people, to trust Guardians… I spent the first while of my Risen life getting murdered by them over and over again. Like they were playing a game with me.”
Asten vaguely wondered why the other Guardians would murder one of their own, but he didn’t give it much thought. He couldn’t; not really. Not when he was focused solely on not hurling. “Go away. Please. I’ll let him go, just… leave.”
“I want to help you,” Crow tried, stepping closer, daring to edge his hand nearer. Part of Asten yearned for the idea of help. Of letting someone else make sure he didn’t die for once.
The rest of him was revolted at the proximity he was allowing the Guardian to gain on him.
“No,” He breathed, voice still squeaky and wheezy. “I don’t want your pity help. The last Guardian that talked to me like this dragged me through the city half-dead. Like I was some kind of trophy.”
“And I’m so sorry one of them treated you like that,” Crow apologized, and Asten searched his face for a lie; all he saw was dangerous, dangerous sincerity. Sincerity that made the teenager want to cave. “Please let me help you. I won’t let anyone hurt you. You won’t get in trouble. I promise.”
When had someone last spoken to him like that? He wasn’t sure anyone ever had. And every single expression, movement, mannerism led him to believe Crow was being wholly genuine.
And it made him want to cave so damn bad. A Guardian, of all people.
“Asten,” He croaked.
Crow cocked a brow, his glowing eyes searching his face. “What?”
“My name,” He replied. Part of his conscience was kicking him over and over for giving him his real name -- the rest was whispering for him to give in.
“Asten,” Crow tried the name out, deciding it sounded about right. “How old are you?”
Well, since he was on a roll… “Sixteen.”
He heard Crow curse under his breath.
“Listen... I’m sorry if I scared you, I really am. You’re an incredible shot,” He started, eyes scanning him repetitively, forcing this little, quick smile on his face. “Please, let me help you. You… don’t look so good.”
“One-hundred-four-point-seven,” Glint chimed in.
Asten just stood for a moment, staring at the Guardian ahead of him. His words bounced around and around in his head. Promises for help, that he wouldn’t get hurt, that he wouldn’t die from the plague. That he wouldn’t be in trouble and thrown into confinement again. It all sounded too good to be true, and most of him knew that. But there was a little voice in his head that was rejoicing because someone actually… cared. In all sixteen years, someone actually…
Oh, shit. All those fancy promises about help and rainbows and butterflies was starting to-
“No,” Asten tried once more, his already gone voice breaking slightly in the middle of the word. He wasn’t sure why, but his eyes began to water. He chose to believe it was the fever and delirium and the fact that he felt like death making it happen, but part of him knew that wasn’t really the case. “Just… stop. Go away.”
(He didn't say stop because he really wanted him to stop, though — he said stop because he was caving and he knew it.)
Pity rippled across Crow's features -- sadness. "If you really want me to, I will. But I don't think that's the case."
Asten said nothing, but bit the inside of his cheek hard, forcing the wetness in his eyes to subside. Of course, it didn't really work.
"Why are you crying?" Glint questioned innocently. His little robot voice was doing that same thing Crow's had -- going soft, quiet, gentle.
"I'm not crying, you little shithead," Asten snapped, blinking rapidly in an attempt to ward the tears off again.
Crow opened his mouth to speak, but with a sudden and violent intensity, Asten’s entire body seemed to go on strike; He threw up all over his own feet, his hands slipping from both the Ghost and the gun to slink around himself instead. The revolver clattered on the concrete and Glint whirred up to his Guardian’s side, turning to look back at him.
His leverage was gone.
That was about when he realized darkness was not only dancing in his vision, but threatening to take in entirely, his whole body going into a strange, numb feeling that Glint seemed to catch onto before it fully took over.
“Catch him, Crow!” The Ghost shouted, before Asten was even falling.
But then he was — his legs gave out beneath him not a second later. Only, for the first time in his life, he didn’t hit the concrete — instead, Crow scooped him up like a small child, and he let him.
“Glint, take us to the Tower,” Crow ordered.
Oh, Asten was so going to die.

Tears of the Kingdom, emotional distress edition. Thoughts and speculation based on all Geoglyph memories.
My baby my sweet girl noooo ;_; Was literally sobbing watching that last memory, especially when Link came out of it surrounded by Zelda's signature Silent Princess flowers, oh my god.
She fully expected she was sacrificing herself. She might have still been 'alive', but she knew she would no longer be Zelda. She'd just be... the Light Dragon, Restorer of the Master Sword. And that'd be okay, because she's ensured the Sages of Wind, Water, Fire, and Lightning would still be around. She's arranged something with Mineru. And Link would have the Master Sword. If they don't have her, well, that's fine in her mind.
(I suspect that, since you need all the geoglyph memories for the True Ending, and you only get the dragon memory once you get all the others, the True Ending may be restoring Zelda to herself. Otherwise I will park myself outside Miyamoto's office and cry until he takes pity on me, tbh.)
Mineru has to be involved somehow. There's that little blue flame thing that goes into the slate she's entrusting her with - could Mineru, as the Sage of Spirit, have been able to separate out a little bit of Zelda's spirit to remain in the slate? If she can ensure that the slate ends up in Link's hands, which we know it does via the Steward Construct, then maybe Mineru will be able to restore Zelda's spirit to her body.
I strongly suspect Mineru will be involved, actually, because hers is the only stone still unaccounted for. Wind, Water, Fire, and Lightning are nice and straightforward. Four original Sages, they have descendants, they build their Temples and keep their stones there for their descendants to claim when they awaken as Sages in the present. Sonia's stone was the one claimed by Ganondorf. Rauru's stayed in his hand for all that time, went to Zelda, travelled back in time with her (so the same stone existed twice), and now it's. Well. In her.
But what about Mineru and her stone? There are no Zonai in modern Hyrule, so no obvious descendant. Her descendants could have been Hylian, of course - Zelda is descended from Rauru, after all - but there's no immediately obvious successor. And Mineru's power was to separate her spirit from her body. What if she doesn't need a successor because she's still around in spirit form, her original body long gone but her spirit persisting?
I suspect that once the four basic-element Sages have been awakened, we'll move on to Mineru. She's very prominent for a character who only appears briefly in a few memories - the other Sages are fully voiced, sure, but they're not even named, whereas Mineru is a) the one who brings up Draconification in the first place, b) the one that has that interesting ability, and c) the one Zelda specifically mentions before swallowing her stone.
Yeah, Mineru has to be involved.
For now, I'm distraught how are you :D After the memory I just kinda. Hurled Link to the nearest tower and went to sit on Zelda's head for a while. (Tried to pull the Master Sword too, didn't have enough stamina, alas.) Just. Damn. Damn.
(That's not even getting into all the other memories, namely Sonia's death and Rauru's reaction. Ow my heart. This game is going to emotionally ruin me.)

Unfortunately this somehow took 3 days but I did it! I made the reference sheet. I’m trying a lot of new things that seem to paying off, I’ve never never drew a tattoo before until I made this oc and tbh I’m not disappointed with how it came out!
But allow me to explain who the izila are a little, I will make a sheet about them and everything else that is important before actually starting the AU but a little early insight never hurt anyone, right?
The izila Are a tribe of people and monsters forged 253 years before the Great War, the people of the tribe believed in one god. The god that lived amongst the stars, Sun Wukong who here was The first Demi-Human. A Demi-human is a hybrid between monster and human who can have the potential the shatter the limitations of ones usual magical capacities, sun was one of those Demi humans, his magic burns with the heat of a thousand suns, his flame undying and his body eternally hot to provide his people heat when it was cold. Sun was allegedly the most powerful being to ever walk the planet, his Demi-human make up allowed for the izila monsters and humans to be more accepting of one another and therefore their tribe thrived all the way up until the Great War. By the time of the Great War sun had passed after living 137 years of a great life, as not just a divine icon but a hero and friend to his people. He’s carried them on his shoulders for years, For the next 116 years they needed to figure out life on their own. And they did. However once the war came about the izila had a great divide those who still followed the word of sun and worshipped ‘The God of the Sun’ and those who were straying away from it due to the ‘Gods’ passing.
two tribes known as the Keżzi-Kürt and Aadamei never had appreciated the existence of the monsters and would do anything to prove humans superior, this tribe would actively go out of their way to torment other tribes and especially Demi-Humans, and monsters. Anything between cutting one’s life short or forcing them to do manual labor until it becomes too unbearable. Due to the tribes constant competition for food eventually there came a era called “Starved” people were starting to starve due to the lack of food, The izila were getting ready to move on and travel to another land but during their preparations the Keżzi-Kürt tribe had corrupted the Izila who strayed away from their teachings, convincing them that the they’re only struggling because with monsters around the population was far too high, they preached that the monsters consumed a much higher volume of resources than humans and other lies and like the foolish lost sheep that they were the former izila members turned on their people to join the Keżzi-Kürt. And so the Great War started. The Keżzi-Kürt were a large tribe who were also supported by the aadamei and almost half of the Izila. These numbers easily overwhelmed the Real izila, the humans in the tribe who stood with the monsters were struck down along side them and Demi-humans. In the end the remainder of the Izila had took their kids and went into hiding in fear of extinction unfortunately leaving the monsters to fight the battle on their own, in the end they all were sealed away. Now 11 centuries later only 20 members of the izila remain along with 3 Demi-humans, one of which being nova.
because of their religious beliefs their names are often related to stars, fire, plasma in general. Such as Nova or his sister Star, their last names casaflame which means “cast a flame”. Their fathers name is Agni which means “fire”, their mothers name is Astra which means “Star” as based on the belief of their god of the sun, they still believe that even after his death Sun still watches over them.
Anyway, story time over! Reference sheet time ✨
credit to the inspirations!💛
INSPIRATIONS!!!!✨
First of all! this design for frisk comes from the design of I believe classic frisk from jackei’s underverse series, on the chance you don’t know where to find their YouTube is JackeiHazen. You should go and check it out if you haven’t already all I did was make the shoes.
Secondly, the design for nova came from Cassynova well- really just the hair. The face, Tail, teeth, scars, body type and tattoos, those were all my ideas. I decided to give him a tail since the izila God is Sun Wukong.
LASTLY!!! The tattoo, the tattoos were inspired by Joshua Samuel Fatu, his brother Jonathan Solofa Fatu and his cousin who wear and show their tattoos to represent their culture, I like the design and I wanted to make something like it.
welp- that’s all I have to say here, I hope you guys enjoyed if you made it this far 👍

AHAHAHA we’re linked up fr can’t leave out those hair wax jokes but omg him finding reader with Barou’s corpse first has me crying /sad I love how you actually thought out the usability of the teams though because when I played I DEFINITELY just went with whatever pokemon I liked regardless of typing and stats LMAOOK
Karasu screaming at her is so real LMAOA reminds me of him yelling at people during the bowling/Shibuya outing chapter LOL I’m trying to think of a rare water type pokemon but atp I’m just gonna google because I definitely didn’t read the dex entries in depth the first one that comes to mind is feebas though but tbh thats kinda just in the same boat as magikarp so er (clampearl maybe….? Or maybe skrelp idk dragalge seems pretty cool comparatively so) ok wait while I’m looking at water types anyone know the lore behind phione and manaphy why am I just realizing they aren’t related evolution wise pause im now realizing that it didn’t have to be a rare water type which makes more sense i somehow read somewhere that “reader fishes out a rare pokemon (from the sea) and trades that” but if that were the case she could’ve just kept it to fulfill the water type requirement idk what i was thinking going w this uh
REAL the evil govt secretly silencing the voices of anyone who disagrees…guys the world is building fr we just cracked the code behind the champion situation too (reps dad being bribable is so real)
LMFAOOOO IM CRYING “yeah we got bored and went to the moon nbd”
LMAOAO the “i know a guy” trope is so real and so iconic im crying they go find hiori and he’s like “oh yeah my bad that’s my pokemon the size of a small sky scraper she’s harmless” (id imagine its in aurorus form for this to be funny) last time i remember aurorus was from the show and from what I remember of it trying to protect amaura i can also imagine it being protective of hiori and almost freezing mc’s teams asses off LMAOOOO (“it don’t bite” “YES TF IT DO”) you’re getting me too invested in this first it was oaeu now pokemon au i fear this cooks too hard….
You see my first thought was also Barou but for logistical reasons that’s a no here pause gagamaru cooking (literally)!!! Imagine he starts making them just like in the forest or out in the tall grass so people think it’s sketchy (kinda like some food trucks yk) but turns out his stuff is all natural AND fire (ness having low nutrient poffins is so real)
AIKU GARY HAHAHA that just reminds me of Gary’s cheerleaders and the cheer/chant they had for him I’m crying imagine aiku had one
OH SHDGSHSHS I never had an aegislash jn game so that explains why idk the lore LMAO (I did have a friend who swore by it and constantly hyped up its stats though, fr doing like aegislash promotion) Nagiy/ns number one shipper aegislash!!! LMAOO stop this could actually cook as a pokemon anime season wtf someone get game freak and whoever animates pokemon in here rn….reader jumpscaring Nagi in their next battle with aegislash is so funny
I’ll never not be amazed by how much content you can churn out wtf I usually see people writing like three fics just the time you’ve done fifteen and as we’ve already discussed your fics are LONG I’m fr imagining that Justin Bieber gif rn (I’m not even kidding I think of the phrase “doing gods work” and then that gif and audio pop up so congrats you’ve definitely been cemented in with that LMAOO) but SAME love our yap sessions!!
- Karasu anon
RIGHT IT’S LITERALLY PERFECT FOR HIM brooo ponies specifically always have the cutest names…the pony i learned to ride on way back when i was like 11 was named sugar 🥹 and then the ponies i learnt to jump on were named candy and penny like TELL ME THAT’S NOT ADORABLE 😭😭😭 horses usually don’t have such cutesy names sadly but some of them are mad majestic (i’ve known horses named zeus, palermo, arctic, rhea, and heathcliff to name a few like why do they all lowkey have aura)
LMAOO it’ll be the same mfs buying both tiers too like don’t let yourself be treated like the random unnamed girl who got grocery store cookies and was cancelled on so otoya could play video games with reader 😭 only accept the man who plays video games with you so you didn’t walk to his house for nothing and buys you gourmet fancy ass cupcakes for literally no reason 🤩 nah because tbh bfb otoya as a concept cracks me up he’s just so ridiculous with everything he does like there’s zero reason for him to be doing all of that (i remember i kept telling you that karasu’s bfb would be less crack-ish and you were like otoya’s wasn’t that bad?? but now that you’ve read karasu’s version i hope you see what i meant 😩)
rough and tumble yukimiya would’ve been AMAZING…something about how he turned to religion as a way to repent for some of the bullshit he pulled in his childhood + he felt like him getting scouted just for being handsome was so lucky it HAD to be an act of god + him feeling like if he acts out god will punish him (maybe he views his failing eyesight as a punishment for his past sins??) and send him back to where he came from hence his mega kind and polite personality which is a facade for his more selfish NEL personality + him and kaiser getting along because of their backstories but also butting heads because of the diff ways they dealt with things (kaiser forsaking any notion of god to care about himself vs yukimiya trusting anyone BUT himself in search of some kind of solace and reassurance that things will stay as good as they now are) + isagi showing yukimiya another way of being yourself while still not being a bad person and showing that it’s alright to make mistakes (yukimiya perfectionism flaw??) as long as you learn from them…CUT THE CAMERAS DEADASS kaneshiro better give me custody of yukimiya in just three ask responses i’ve taken his canon info and given him a way more compelling and deep backstory that would guarantee him to be a fan favorite 🥱 honestly it’s kind of sad because i could never write this version of yukimiya as he’s just divorced enough from canon that it wouldn’t make sense in a fic but he will ALWAYS be in my mind now i think he’s 1000x more compelling than canon yukimiya without (i believe) compromising his core character traits and in fact actually adding continuity and building off of them (if rough and tumble yukimiya was given enough good panels [which considering he’s in an au with less players and therefore more focus on each character he probably would have a decent amount] he would def have that kaiser vibe to him like i can see him being popular and people posting abt his tragic backstory and how hot he is etc etc)
YESSS YUTA MADE IT lowkey it was so random though like last chapter there was the whole “we need to save okkotsu” cliffhanger and now he’s just here and chilling hello??? also how is HIGURUMA still around 😭 and this shit with the elders and all of that like where did that come from…is gege trying to set up a sequel or smth 🤔 idk i’m very lost i think i just need to see how it ends so i can move on from it for a while
i think aiku as a future rival would’ve cooked so hard maybe he drops some “you guys reminded me what it feels like to have an ego” (as a callback to his striker past) type of line and barou’s like “oh so you have an ego now 🤨 good because that means it’ll be even more fun to crush you 😒” and that specific game is focused on them and their rivalry (it could be a good place to add more barou backstory into the main manga too as well as aiku lore)
i never understood stats or anything but i always took typing seriously!! as well as moves and whatnot (if a move didn’t do damage though i never let my pokémon keep it) RKFHSJSJ no because it’s so sad karasu’s the one who goes back and finds her (after nagi tells him to because at the end it’s nagi and reader before reader goes on alone to fight barou…nagi leaves to evacuate everyone but he’s like “yo karasu please go check on her”) and it’s just her and her houndoom lying with barou and his houndoom (who are both dead UGHHHH the angst is insane)
HELP waits actually yk what’s funny is reader does actually end up with a dragalge on her team so at some point she catches a skrelp ig?? but she doesn’t trade it away (lowkey dragalge isn’t one i’ve put much though into like it and donphan are just kinda there but they don’t yet have the plot relevance that houndoom aegislash gyarados and galvantula do)…HAHAHA yeah she catches a non water type to trade!! i’m thinking it’ll be like a pikachu or something because then everyone reading will be like “oh of COURSE she has a pikachu 🙄🙄🙄” but then she trades it away for a magikarp LDFHSJSKSK anyways yeah if you put manaphy and a ditto in the daycare you’ll get a phione egg!! not sure what the lore connection is but yeah that’s the in game mechanic (i got a manaphy during one of the mystery gift events and i used to spam breed phione’s and put them on the global trade center so people would give me their legendaries in exchange LMAOAAO i was kinda diabolical with it)
no because the world is so deep i’m so invested now!! REO’S DAD BEING CORRUPT AND BRIBABLE JUST MAKES SM SENSE lowkey maybe that’s why reo’s traveling alone/with mc trio instead of training at home with his dad!! like he wants to actually be a proper champion and is too idealistic to realize the government will never let him do that with that mindset…okay wait and instead of going the stereotypical route maybe reader defeating barou and the evil team isn’t enough for them to fix things because the root of the problem (the government) hasn’t been fixed so then in order to get justice for barou she’s like “well ig i have all 8 badges” so she (along with nagi as her rival, tullia who’s just been doing random shit this whole time and has the team for it, and reo who wants to be champion for a diff reason) decides to join the championship conference and makes it through until the end (again considering galvantula alone swept through half of barou’s team it’ll make sense) where she’s told by the government that she has to throw the match and she seems to agree (unlike barou) but then instead of doing that she beats mr mikage and exposes the government on live tv before they can cut the cameras…and then the gym leaders + elite four + elite four candidates (isagi kaiser bachira kunigami) are like “aight might as well” and reveal they’ve been planning a mutiny against the government for a WHILE (another reason why isagi is always so secretive around them) and barou was involved too but it wasn’t supposed to happen for a while however with reader’s actions they decide there’s no time like the present and execute a (much better planned) mutiny while reader and co + mc trio watch in awe (you KNOW karasu is so mad yayoi never mentioned anything to him) so it kind of avoids that “kids doing everything while incompetent adults just sit around” trope while still having reader and co + mc trio be integral parts of the ending??
HAHAHA mc trio could have their own spinoff fr…episode nagi pokémon au KFJDJD they randomly find a crashed spaceship full of clefairy and clefables and somehow chigiri and/or reo are revealed to have mechanical expertise?? plus nagi’s just randomly a genius fsr so they manage to fix up the spaceship so the clefairy and clefable can go back to the moon (lowkey i think smth like this happens in one of the original eps of the anime but it’s bllk au so it’s funnier) and they leave an egg with nagi as thanks (specifically nagi because according to reo’s [at the time] kirlia they like his hair as it reminds them of the moon even though lowkey nagi did the least for them) or like do you remember that one episode where it was like a competition for only fighting type pokémon?? imagine reo has been SET on evolving his kirlia into a gardevoir but when he hears about the competition he’s like “time to switch gears” and while reader and co are having the fossil arc with hiori, mc trio is just running around completing various side quests trying to find a dawn stone so reo can evolve kirlia into a gallade instead…bonus points if reo misses the registration date because he doesn’t find the dawn stone in time so now he just randomly has a gallade (who he loves very much don’t get me wrong LMAOOO he was just building his team around eventually having a gardevoir and now he has to switch stuff up)
HELPPP because okay realistically hiori’s team is super super intimidating if you think about it…like you look at him and he seems so sweet you think he’d have a team like otoya’s (#otoyaslander) and then he releases his first pokémon and it’s a metagross 😭 his pokémon are def all super protective of him too…they probably HATE reader in particular because between donphan and galvantula (aka the goat…lowkey i’m surprised at how much it actually carries every confrontation) alone she’s destroying his team 😩 considering donphan is a ground type so it’s strong against aurorus and luxray, galvantula is bug-electric so it’s strong against metagross (psychic is weak to bug apparently??), swanna, and kingdra, so that only leaves nidoqueen with a type advantage…until you factor in that gyarados is not only a water type (so strong against her ground typing) but also flying so it’s immune to her ground type attacks 😭 and this is completely ignoring houndoom who is metagross’s perfect counter, aegislash if she has it at that point, and dragalge 😰 it took me so long picking a team with type coverage for basically every type but i’m still always amazed whenever i match reader up against other characters and realize she absolutely cooks them
HELPPPP GAGAMARU AS A POFFIN FOOD TRUCK WORKER IS SO REAL i can see him having an ursaring and they just drive around selling poffins and he doesn’t have a phone number or anything so if you want them you have to hunt him down 😭 the REAL reason yukimiya has an alakazam is so he can just teleport LMAOAO meanwhile reader and co have to fly on flying pokémon (reader and tullia borrow karasu’s and otoya uses his altaria) to find him wherever he is if they need him
nah because you’re so right aegislash has to be a shipper there’s 0 reason for it to throw the romance subplot in except for some drama JFKSKS to be fair it was probably rlly bored while waiting for a trainer to show up 😭 it’s kind of rude even once it’s captured but then houndoom beats it up and it behaves after that 🤩 no fr it’s a role reversal of the cleffa incident like reader and nagi both pull up with new pokémon and nagi throws out his cottonee (side note but cottonee/whimsicott is such a peak nagi pokémon tbh) meanwhile reader whips out her aegislash and nagi’s just like WHAT THE FUCK (reo and chigiri are just like “😃❔” because they have no clue why nagi’s tripping meanwhile nagi’s trying to process that he did in fact have an isekai romance arc with reader and now he has to face her after he literally asked if it’s okay for him to rizz her up “for the plot” when she’s dating karasu (she is NOT dating karasu) (karasu has no idea why nagi keeps looking at him awkwardly) (tullia and otoya ask chigiri and reo if nagi is into men/karasu) (chigiri and reo can honestly say they have 0 idea)
HAHAHA no it’s not even just 15 since may because that’s not counting the jjk requests i got OR anything i wrote for myself (both versions of bfb, freaky friday, hollyhock and peregrine chapters) i fear i am quite prolific in the summer…fall is always lowkey the mira hiatus era where i rlly slow down and then suddenly come december i go crazy and cook until the next fall

2112's Rant Time #7 (Review Special FINALE): We're gonna need a plumber for all these LEAKS. (SPOILERS FOR DOCTOR WHO: THE GIGGLE INBOUND)
It's time. This is the FINAL special rant time. After this one, the rant times will be actual rants again, and these special ones will become their own thing. I'll be going into more detail about how that's gonna go later, but for now... It's time for
The Giggle
This is the last of the 3 Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials, and honestly....
It's my most favorite out of all of them.
It starts with a man named Charles Banerjee. He's working with John Logie Baird, the man who first demonstrated the idea of television in 1927's London. Charles walk's into NEIL PATRICK HARRIS'S TOY STORE, as he is looking for a puppet to use for the television demonstration (as using a human test subject would cause injuries, since the lights are so bright they could cause fire). He finds one named Stooky Bill. Neil Patrick Harris says that by purchasing Bill, Charles is leaving Bill's family behind, which makes Neil very sad. Charles pays for the puppet, then goes set up the demonstration with ol' Johnny boy. The puppet starts to burn, it's jaw drops (because it saw that Doctor Who was genuinely good again), and a laughter- sorry- GIGGLE is heard. Intro rolls.
Off the track for a bit, but this did actually happen (well, sort of). The first proper demonstration of the television DID involve an actual puppet named Stooky Bill. As for why a puppet and not a human, according to a nice convenient article (that just came out today) from the Radio Times, the main reason (apart from the extreme heat of the lights) for using a puppet was due to humans having bad contrast. However, due to Stooky Bill's painted face, he had way better contrast (and could withstand a few pesky bright lights with nothing more than a charred face). The article, written by Morgan Jefferey (I believe) is a pretty nice read. If you wanna check it out for yourself, you can find it right down here ↓ (Yea I cite my sources. My mother's very proud).
Anyways, let's talk about-
NEIL PATRICK HARRIS AS THE TOY-MAKER
This was probably my favorite part of the episode tbh (apart from a think I won't talk about right now because SPOILIOPS). Neil absolutely KILLS it as The Toy-maker. I'd love to say more, but what else is there to say? Neil was fucking GREAT.
Anyway's, The Doctor and Donna are trying to figure out what's going on, as U.N.I.T. drops in and takes them to HQ. There, they meet up with Kate Lethbridge-Stewart. Then The Doctor catches up with 6th Doctor companion Melanie, who is now working for U.N.I.T. The story goes that 2 days ago, a signal from god knows where is broadcasting someone's GIGGLE. This giggle is infact Stooky Bill's laughter, which had apparently infected all TV/Digital displays. iPads, iPhones, computer monitors, smart watches, you name it. If it was a screen that display images and videos, Stooky Bill was there (as The Doctor gracefully showed). They suspect that it's coming from a Korean (I think) sattelite. The Doctor Gives permission to shoot it down. After this, he asks Shirley (the wheelchair girl from The Star Beast) to find out when all this first went down. She tell's him, and The Doctor and Donna go on one more adventure.
They go to 1925, and spot Neil Patrick Harris's Toystore. They go inside, and The Toymaker makes a balls joke (really classy stuff). The Doctor recognizes The Toymaker, and then he walks into his curtain of dematerialization as he disappears. A Scooby Doo ass runaround occurs, as The Doctor finds a room with our old friend Charles. He had apparently played a game with the toymaker, and was turned into a puppet. We see a giant Neil Patrick Harris in the sky, holding up ol' Chuck by marionette strings. As The Doctor looks back at Charles, he sees himself as the puppet. The Doctor runaways in fear, Donna beats up some other puppets, they find eachother, and BOOM! The Toy-Maker appears before them. He fills Donna in on the different companions that've been with The Doctor since he wiped her memories, specifically the ones who died (so no chibnall companions). And each time he states cause of death, The Doctor corrects him.
They then play the first game: a simple game of higher or lower with a cut deck of cards. The Toymaker wins, though The Doctor argues that since he won first they should go best 2 out of 3. Then The Toymaker travels to 2023 where their next game will supposedly take place.
This scene is absolutely perfect, and I teared up a bit when The Toymaker mentioned Amy, Clara, and Bill.
Our Tardis duo returns to present day, and they warn U.N.I.T. that Neil Patrick Harris is coming, an- Holy shit he's already here and
OH MY GOD NEIL PATRICK HARRIS IS SERVING SERIOUS CUNT
The Doctor and crew then spot the toymaker outside manning the BFG 10K as he threatens to kill everyone or something. The Doctor then says that neil's fight is with him. Neil Patrick Harris then shoots David Tennant in the chest. He starts to regenerate, as Donna and Mel grab on to his arms.
The regeneration energy disappears, as The Doctor feels funny. It's going different... too different. ..
So um... remember the split regeneration "leak"? Yea um...
.
.
.
It was real
youtube
Yea split regeneration was real, though it didn't turn out as bad as I thought it would. So David and Ncuti Gatwa (who's in his pants and no one seems to point it out... what?) challenge The Toymaker to one final game: the first game: a game of catch. The Doctors win and 14nant's prize is him casting Neil Patrick Harris out of existence. He turns into cardboard and is dropped into his toybox. Afterwards, 14nant is sad because he doesnt want to part ways with the tardis. So Ncuti, with the remaining power of the toymaker, grabs a big clown hammer and smacks the tardis, creating a second one. They part ways, and Ncuti Gatwa goes into the wild blue yonder. 14nant and his new family of the Noble-Temples have dinner which makes me cry GOD DAMMIT THIS EPISODE WAS SO FUCKING GOOD DOCTOR WHO IS FUCKING BACK.
So yea. This was one of my favorite episodes in a LONG damn time. I loved pretty much every second of it. 10/10.
Tune in next time for... um... well before I go, actually, about these review rants becoming their own thing. Let's talk about that.
These review type posts will now be called
2112's Journeys
In these, I'll be talking about my experiences with different multimedia franchises (books, movies, shows, games, etc.). I'll mostly talk about individual entries, giving my thoughts/reviewing them, and maybe even a bit of history on them. This was something I've wanted to do for a while, albeit in video form rather than text form. But I can't really write for shit and I don't want to make a shitly written video, so I feel by doing them in text form here first I could improve on my writing skills, which would then eventually lead me to adapting those written posts into video form.
So yea that's it, see ya next time for

my thoughts on the fnaf movie as i rewatch it
bro the security guard we see at the start of the fnaf movie is SUCH a fucking loser. like dude you are being SO loud ofc you're gonna get caught. idiot.
real talk- why didn't they have william's fake name be dave (like in the novels)? who tf is steve??
what tf did mike even do to get fired from so many jobs so quickly? i mean like there's definitely some ableism in there cuz mans is Clearly neurodivergent...
matthew lillard is such a good actor, like the expressions he has and how he talks esp when he sees mike's last name? so good, so realistic. mwah. the trailing off, looking up at him, squinting, leaning forward, the awkward non sequitur
josh hutcherson too honestly, they're both so good
mike is such a good brother like actually. he handles it all so well and never yells at abby
poor mike blames himself for smth that happens in like the thirty seconds he isn't looking at garrett bc he went to pick up someones frisbee. and he immediately noticed something was wrong and spotted him like right away. its not even close to being ur fault babe
bro aunt jane really acts as if its weird for abby... to be a kid. like drawing a lot and having imaginary friends is just smth kids do. ur the weird one.
the therapist and mike exchanging looks like "can u believe this bitch?" is so funny to me. also poor doug is Not There someone help this man. is he okay??? jane is like "my Lawyer will take you to court" and mike looks at doug like "this guy? rlly?"
tbh max didn't deserve that :( she was a good person but obviously needed the money yk? but she was good to abby and did geniunely help mike by babysitting her. and like she very clearly doesn't want to hurt abby and mike but doesn't seem to have a choice
i hope after aunt jane dies doug tells everyone that she literally paid ppl to get mike fired and probably a bunch of other illegal shit
vanessa: you've been acting suspicious since the moment i arrived mike: *stressed, sleep deprived, and wary of her bc shes a fuckin cop* oh sorry
vanessa: *literally sees mike lock the doors which are obviously unopened meaning the robbers got in another way and it's not even his fault anyway bc it happened during the day and he only works nights* *still blames mike*
bro if i saw that cupcake open its fucking eyes i would slam the door shut immediately, that guys death is on himself tbh
still upset they cut the line where max asks the freddy kid if he's okay and is like worried about a child being there.
mike: you wouldn't understand (UR RIGHT KING TELL THAT COP)
josh hutcherson is so so so pretty ojh mu dhod
god, mike, you can't just ask if they're dead (ref)
how tf do the kids know exactly what happened to garrett when its implied garrett was the first victim????
mike: *literally tells abby the animatronics might be dangerous just due to the fact that they are. giant metal contraptions. and wants to tell her some 'ground rules'* / vanessa: *completely ignores him talking about abbys fucking safety* / also vanessa: *gets mad abt abby getting hurt and blames mike, even though he literally tried to keep her safe and asked vanessa for help since she Knows stuff (like not to touch bonnie's guitar) and she ignored him*
lol vanessa definitely acts like an afton. i imagine michael would be pretty similar to her personality-wise
do u think mike has a moment of "is that my fucking career counselor?" when he first sees william's face lol
abby: "can we visit them sometime?" girly... the building is structurally unstable. parts of the ceiling literally fell down. ily but no.

How did it feel outside today? I didn't go out, but in any case to my surprise it was cold all day – I haven't turned on my fan at all, and right now I even have my blanket around me without anything running. I don't know if this is still one of those rare good days in the year, or if it could already be the start of the Christmas weather.
Are there any animals in the room with you? Nopes. I'm in my room; the dogs sleep downstairs.
How did you spend yesterday afternoon? I was just working and had been in a couple of meetings as well.
Are any of your siblings taller than you? They both are. I'm the smallest sibling and also the smallest in the immediate family, haha.
Name a song that reminds you of a past relationship: Sparks by Coldplay. Thankfully I associate Coldplay so much more with BTS now because I love the band and it would've sucked if I had to stop listening to them.
When did you last have a nightmare? I feel like it was just recently, but I can't remember exactly when.
What's the goriest thing you've ever seen? TRIGGER WARNING: DEATH, BLOOD. Either photos of actual corpses on the internet, or select wrestling matches that are known for having been extremely bloody. I have a very specific memory of watching Vince McMahon's forehead literally pumping out blood cos his cut went way deeper than it should have.
Have you or do you attend pep rallies regularly? I haven't. I know my university had those as an annual thing but I never was able to attend any because I could never find anyone who wanted to watch it.
Have you ever seen a building on fire in real life? I haven't, but seeing massive clouds of smoke from a distance from burning buildings is something I'm fairly familiar with. The last time had been in July when we were staying over at a hotel and could tell there was a fire going on at some province all the way south, like in Cavite, from that giant-ass cloud of smoke we saw from our floor.
Have you kissed anyone and their first name started with an F, D, or L? No, I haven't.
Have you ever been in therapy for anything? Nope, haven't been to therapy.
Do you think clowns are creepy? They can be but they aren't the creepiest things in the world for me.
If you had to write an essay about a popular song... what would that song be? Let's go with Gangnam Style by PSY.
When did you last have some fruit? Every day I was sick in the last week my mom fixed up this drink for me to consume and I'm pretty sure it had some kind of fruit in it; I'm just unable to identify which.
What's something you have to look forward to? Getting to head out again after finishing my quarantine. I completely forgot that the local Audrey Hepburn exhibit is only running until the end of the month, so I really need to book a visit within the next weekend as it'll be gone by the 28th.
Is there any part of your sexual/romantic history that you have not told your current significant other about or that you will not tell future partners about? There is a small part that I probably would have to mention, but it's too personal to discuss in detail here.
Have you ever developed feelings for someone whose sexual orientation was incompatible with yours? Nah.
How many relationships have you been in that actually got sexual? Just one.
Who performs the most random acts of kindness out of everyone you know? Probably Bea. Girl always has surprises up her sleeve.
Are any of your pets “overweight”? Cooper may be slightly overweight, but it's not like alarm bells level and we definitely watch how much we feed him so that it doesn't start becoming an entirely bad health issue.
Who’s the most romantic person you ever went out with? I've only gone out with one person.
Last person to tell you that you smell good? My sister.
Last person you told that they smell good? That's not really something I tell people and tbh the last time I remarked they smelled nice it was to my dogs hahaha.
What shows do you watch? I gravitate towards sitcom the most since I prefer easy watching, so shows like Friends, The Big Bang Theory, Brooklyn Nine-Nine...I also started on The Office earlier this week. Every now and then I'll watch something a bit heavier as I can only enjoy a good drama; most recently I finished DP.
Is there anything you are craving right now? I'm feeling pretty full right now actually so I'm good.
Think back to the last person you kissed, how many times have you laughed with them? A million times and more.
What are five Halloween costumes that you’d like to wear in the future? RJ of BT21; Diane Nguyen from BoJack; Joey Tribbiani from that scene where he wore all of Chandler's clothes at once; a bottle of peach soju; and the dude from the 'A child' Vine hahaha.
Who did you have your first kiss with? Do you remember what color his/her eyes were? My ex, yeah I do.
Whose Facebook timeline did you post on most recently? I don't post on anyone's feeds. I think only older people do that anymore.
Have you ever had a restaurant dish that was made with bugs? If not, would you even want to try one? I haven't, actually; I didn't even get to try any bug dishes in Thailand when I was there – our itinerary was so packed we didn't have time to look for restaurants or stalls that had them :( But yes, I'm adventurous when it comes to food so I'd definitely try.
If anything, I went to a Thai tasting menu event a couple of weeks ago and I took up the owner's offer to try one piece of cricket. It tasted like chicharon, just a bit more savory.
Which edible flowers have you tasted? I don't think I've tried flowers before.
Who was the last non-relative woman you spoke to in person? Fern.
What was the last video you added to your favorites on YouTube? I don't really do that. The most I do is just press like on videos.
Who was the last person that apologized to you? I think Coleen.
What comes to mind when you think of pregnancy? Expenses.
Do you prefer bar or liquid soap? Liquid.
Do any of your family members have an upcoming birthday? It'll be one of my cousins' birthday on November 3rd.
What is your favorite flavor of Jolly Ranchers? I've never had a Jolly Rancher.
Is your favorite animal endangered? No.
Are you better at writing fiction or non-fiction? Non-fiction. I have absolutely zero luck with fiction; I've just never figured it out.
Have you ever dated someone one grade/year above or below you? Neither.
What is the middle name of the last person you texted? I have no idea.
Have you ever come close to drowning? Yes, when I was 9.
So… remember Girl Scout cookies? Any favorites you had/have? No I don't. We don't have those here.
Why did you ignore the last person you ignored? Because it was a work-related person messaging on a fucking weekend and they should know to leave me alone.
Which cartoon character would you want to keep as a pet? Pluto :) If I could have Baymax in dog form too that would be so fun.
Do you like chocolate milk? Just Chuckie. I'm not too fond of everything else.
What is something you hate, but wish you loved? Hiking and more outdoorsy activities. < So real. I wish I could love hiking but tbh it is the worst thing in the world.
What’s the cutest thing your S/O does, but denies it’s cute in any way? I don't have one.
Who have you hugged in the past month? Idk, I wanna say around 10-15 people? I've seen a good number of friends this month so far.
Last bad news you heard? Family death for one of my co-workers.
Have you ever dined alone at a restaurant? Yup, several times.
Have you seen a baby being born in real life? I have not.
Do any of your exes know each other? I only have one.
What’s an opinion you find impossible to take seriously? Continuing to be supportive of the Marcos regime.
Have you ever changed in front of the last person you kissed? Uh, sure.
Do you have any goats? I don't own any goats, no.
Do you hang out with your sibling’s friends? Nah, they like to keep to themselves and that's fine by me.
Have you experienced any severe side effects of medications? Well, I've been bruising this last week but I'm not sure if that's simply because of my weakened immune system or the meds I took.
On Facebook, do you have people listed as your siblings who aren’t really your siblings? No, never did that.
Have you lost any close family members to cancer? One.
Do you know anyone who doesn’t have a middle name? I've met people who only have one first name, but they're very rare.
How often do you check your emails? For my personal email, at least once a day.
Would you want your kids to have your hair color? All Filipinos have black hair so I don't really have a choice lol.
Have you ever had a big YouTuber reply to a comment you left on their video? Nah. That'd be cool, but also I never comment so HAHAHAHA
Have you ever given a lap dance? Nope.

Halligan and Lowry may have some sort of a rivalry going on, but think about this: Steve doesn't change his pose to a normal, "human" one when Brent enters his office, which means he's perfectly comfortable with Brent watching him floating above the chair. Brent doesn't comment on it either. I feel there's something more to their relationship than it seems. 🤔
I enjoy the idea that Steve is something more than human, and that he needs to keep up an act. Honestly, looking at him, he very well could be. I suppose it's just a bit of potential-druid/mythical-creature/deity + ND/Druid solidarity thing going on here. I guess there isn't much point in hiding how out-of-the-norm you are when the other person also is that way, but the fact that Steve doesn't wish to uphold that facade with Brent, despite being an individual who normally seems to wish to uphold all kinds of social norms -based on his demeanor and supposed "disdain" for Brent-, it could be said that there's something profoundly personal about their supposedly impersonal rivalry. I think he likes his audacity, and refuses to allow Brent to see anything other than his "truer" facade self. I suppose that maybe after pretending to be his "ideal" persona like that for so long, he perhaps finds the idea of Brent's more "unnaceptable" imperfection to be kind of irresistible, and can't help but let his guard down a bit with him in an unspoken way that Brent wouldn't really point out because he's Brent? Brent is quite daring in how he speaks to Steve, after all, but he doesn't comment on this at all.
Not only that but once again the floating itself. The fact that it was the later update really does raise eyebrows.
Sorry to bring up this picture again, but look at him. I mean really look. Does this look normal either to you? Based on test-runs I did myself, no, probably not. He looks like a dead shrimp with that pose. Perhaps this version really was the error, and the later one the correction. Lowry here looks like he's about to slip right off his chair and fall on his ass. But the later one? Truly more confident, and his hands do not phase through his knees...I think. He's revealing himself a bit more to his tense rival, and he knows it.
I feel like their rivalry is actually a lot more tension than fighting and they don't admit it. Does Brent have something towards Steve? Maybe, it could also be one-sided, but either way this pair does make you question the heterosexuality orientation of more than one party, which is really saying something when one is wearing purple and gayly floating above a chair. Note that funnily enough, despite their banter, Steve never once calls Brent anything other than Halligan, while Brent actually does call him Steve twice in the game, yes, I checked, I'm completely certain. Enjoy that nugget of information.
They get into really heated arguments. But it is pretty peculiar that for all his threats, Steve is surprisingly lenient towards Brent. Although there are definetely lines where he sounds like he wishes to reach out of his throat and puil a very Brent move on him (by sustained choking), he never lays a single hand on him, in a bizarre act of respect and, something repressed perhaps? It makes sense that he wouldn't want trouble. But a little bit of violence, or even a grab by the collar would be acceptable in the department, presumably. Steve never stops just playing with his thumbs, almost nervously, the entire time. Does he entertain himself like this when he's angry, or is this actually something that happens when he sees Brent? We cannot know, because our only point of reference is Brent himself, and what he sees, so this question is most intriguing. Does he perhaps know that if he were to reach out and touch Brent for even a moment, he wouldn't be able to help himself? Can you blame Steve? Of course not; there's a reason one of my first MOTD posts ever was Halligan's eyelashes-
Whether or not that's an agreement or something Steve himself has decided, there seems to be a mutual understanding that they're not meant to go too far, or even touch each other. Even when there's venom in their voices, it's very clear that at all times at least one of them is partly enjoying the interaction. Even at his wits end, Steve never actively attempts to stop Brent from entering his office, much less interacting with him, or talking to him. If you do get on his nerves enough, he stops letting you ask him things, but he not once stands up to stop Brent. He remains a completely passive observer and you're free to do what you please otherwise. For all of the verbal agression, there is very little action involved, and everything else is a lot subtler. Even one of the milder actions he could've taken against Brent, would have been to take the scissors back from him. Brent has coat pockets and little else, at least canonically since he of course has videogame-character-with-infinite-space-on-their-persona-syndrome. He knows that Brent has his scissors in one of those pockets. But he makes zero moves to get them back, despite his earlier determination to "not lose anything to anyone again, especially not to [Brent]" (perhaps he realizes it's futile, for he has already lost here, against Brent, all the time. Despite his toxic "masculine" facade, he can't help who he is, and this goes unspoken). He just asks him what else he wants, and then tells him to get out, again, just spoken word. Brent is free to stay if he pleases.
This gets interesting when you consider an inocous detail in the game that no one knows how to answer: The fan. Why can you, as Brent, turn on the fan? Perhaps the detail of the fan, even, was meant to represent how this is their dynamic. Steve won't even comment on it, won't even care, because despite everything, he's not as bothered by this as he pretends he is. And perhaps even enjoys someone actually treating him this way for once, with dominance instead of fear. He finds Brent a bit threatening, and he enjoys it. Turning on the fan could disturb his work. It could make his papers go everywhere. This game takes place in the fall. It's presumably a bit chilly, so it could also cause Steve some discomfort, assuming he's not warm, and giving that they don't appear to have telepathic communication (unless they do), I highly doubt that Brent is aware of his current bodily temperature unless he supposes his presence is rising it. That or given that Brent is aware that Steve is floating, he is hoping that if he turns on the fan he will float away from the Yard, but that's neither here nor there.
Whatever their relationship is? ...It is definitely not just your standard rivalry. It is ADVANCED. There is something going on here. I don't know what it is, or what the hell any of this answered, to be honest.
...I'm gonna go get some coffee.
#This is half a joke#half truth#WTH WHY DID I WRITE SO MUCH WHAT HAPPENED#I'm so sorry all of this is mildly funny to me but this is probably not that funny.#one time someone pointed out that I make long-ass messages out of literally anything even on chats and I've been self-conscious ever since.#There is so much about this ask I adore I don't even know where to begin.#You actually went from their last names to their first names which is fire tbh-#STEVE X BRENT FANFICS WHEN#See it sounds so much worse that way#MOTD#MOTD asks#my asks#MOTD meta#Long post#Steve Lowry#Steve X Brent#Brent X Steve#Halligan X Lowry#The Mystery of the Druids#Brent Halligan#Mystery of the Druids#Lowrigan? okay so i just saw Secrets of Dumbledore and I am... emotional... I’ll put my spoiler thoughts (mainly about grindeldore... tbh ALL about grindeldore) under a cut if anyone cares but first I just want to say... wow... the heart of this movie really WAS a gay love story and... it was far more gay than I even expected. Jude and Mads carried this movie on their backs. They are perfect. Jude is my favorite iteration of Albus Dumbledore and Mads really brought out a humanity and also a strange... gentle cruelty in Gellert that I am absolutely in love with... more thoughts (SPOILERS) under the cut.
my thoughts might be all over the place, but I’ll try to keep it as organized as possible.
1) The Restaurant Scene - God. I knew it was the first scene but... what a way to start. I’d seen the scene in clips online already obviously, but somehow seeing it in the theater in full... it was even more... I don’t know if romantic is the word I would use, but you could FEEL how much Gellert and Albus loved each other and had missed each other over the last few decades. Jude and Mads’ chemistry feels like they’ve been working together since the very beginning of these movies. I BUY that they’re in love with each other.
I enjoyed how Gellert almost seemed to... beat around the bush over what they were to each other, almost as if he wasnt’ sure if he should say it out loud, especially around people (even if those people are lesser being muggles, of course), but Albus was just like “no. I was in love with you.” and finally then Gellert was just like “yes”. I also liked seeing both of them just... allow themselves that brief moment of basking in each other’s company for the first time in what probably feels like forever to them before they get down to why they’re actually meeting.
I really do get a sense of Gellert feeling betrayed by Albus through this movie (and I’ll speak more on that at the end as well). He loved Albus as well and Albus turned his back on their plans (and tries even to brush off how it was HE who originally said that it was their birthright to rule). Albus doesn’t quite put all the blame on Gellert, yet at the same time, he still wants to deny just how much he played a hand in it because he never went through with their plans--and yet, as Gellert points out, they were his plans.
2) Albus, Newt, Theseus - I really just want to say again how upfront Albus is about his feelings for Gellert. It makes me wonder if certain scenes were rewritten from the novels, if Albus would be less... ashamed of himself in the future. Maybe not though. I know Harry was important to him and he was afraid that Harry would think badly of him if he knew so maybe that’s where the difference is with Newt for instance? Newt is clearly important to Albus, but not quite to the level that Harry was. Ofc, Harry was also a child, whereas Newt is a full grown adult. But who knows.
And on a slightly related yet unrelated note, the line “You must trust me. Even if every instinct is telling you not to.” was so good. I loved it. Jude DELIVERED that line and it really made me go “wow... This is Albus Dumbledore” because... yes, Albus is a kind person, but he can also be manipulative. I know Albus has a lot of haters (i’ve never been one of them and never will be), because he IS so manipulative... but he is manipulative while having the *best intensions*. Also, his HUMOR. Like for the very first time, I felt Albus Dumbledore from the books. Not that they didn’t do a GREAT job as Albus in the HP movies (minus that DID YOU PUT YOUR NAME IN THE GOBLET OF FIRE?! instance which absolutely was not the fault of the actor), but I never felt the same humor from the *writing* in the HP movies as Albus had in the novels. But I absolutely feel it here.
I do have one request tho. Can we PLEASE get Jude Law in some purple????
3) Albus and Aberforth (& the tale of the battle of 1899) - I’m sorry but seeing Albus and Aberforth together was one of my FAVORITE things from this movie. Like it was absolutely HILARIOUS seeing how different they are and how they interact and its basically exactly how I imagined it in my head. Albus trying to be nice (even when he’s kinda exasperated over Aberforth) and Aberforth’s passive aggressiveness (the talk about Ariana’s favorite dish. “she used to beg mother to make it” “yeah i lived in that house too. i KNOW what went on”.
And before I get to THAT specific line from the tale (you know the one if you saw it), I just wanna talk about the actual battle first. So does anyone else feel that they slightly changed it? Or maybe just Albus didn’t say the full thing? Cuz up till now it’s been Gellert started torturing Aberforth and Albus tried to defend him and Ariana “wanted to help” or something, but Albus said “Aberforth raised his wand which was foolish. I raised my wand which was even more foolish. And Gellert sat there laughing because he was the only one who knew that Ariana had come downstairs.” So from this it makes it sound like the killing blow to Ariana HAD to be either Albus or Aberforth. Albus didn’t even mention Gellert torturing Aberforth in this version of the story (and I kinda like the idea of Gellert literally just sitting there laughing his ass off as the brothers fought, but it also makes me wonder how the aftermath of that would turn out and how it’d end between Albus and Gellert). Also one more point about Aberforth... I much prefer Aurelius being teenage Aberforth’s love child than their brother. Like okay, I buy that (Albus and Aberforth were BOTH getting down that summer...), but does anyone else think that they literally retconned Aurelius being their brother just because novel fans threw a FIT over how much that’d fuck the original time line??? lmaooo I do. And finally that line - “We were going to leave together.” “We were going to leave together.” “WE WERE GOING TO LEAVE TOGETHER.” guys they were going to leave together.
Like they never said this before. Originally it was always Gellert was mad because he thought Aberforth and Ariana was “holding my brilliant brilliant brother back”. We were left with the feeling that Albus was somewhat bitter (even if he DID choose to take on the responsibility) that he’d have to stay home to care for his siblings, literally forcing Aberforth to return to school even though Aberforth offered to drop out to care for Ariana. This is the first time that we hear that Gellert actually managed to talk Albus into leaving with him.
Holy shit.
They were going to leave together.
Also I can’t quite remember which scene this was in but “the summer we fell in love”........................ the summer WE fell in love. WE FELL IN LOVE. THEY FELL IN LOVE! TOGETHER! WE! THE TWO OF THEM! TOGETHER! WITH EACH OTHER!
4) The Battle of Hearts - I almost don’t know where to start. This scene broke my heart. The moment the pact broke and the two of them started to battle... and we could see the pact slowly falling in the background. They were so desperate, yet at the same time, the battle felt so half-hearted. You could FEEL that they didn’t want to do this, even though they both moved at the same exact time. They got closer and closer until they grabbed hold of each other... the way their hearts beat as one. Their hands over each other’s chest--they could feel and hear each other’s hearts. The way they were staring at each other was just... SO HEART-BREAKING... like there is no other word for this scene. They both love each other. They love each other so much, but their sense of responsibility (both so different, two opposite sides of the spectrum) is too great to ignore. they are on opposing sides of the war. Albus wishes he didn’t have to fight Gellert, and Gellert wishes that Albus were still by his side.
The way they stare at each other as they grab one another, their hearts pounding, the spells from their wand fading as neither of them can bring themselves to casting the finishing blow. Either one of them could, but both clearly didn’t want to... and the way they let go of each other and turned away from one another at once was so... powerful. Like... my god. Anyone who doubts Gellert’s feelings like.... just absolute denial on their part. If Gellert didn’t love Albus as Albus loves him, he would’ve cast the final curse to take Albus down. He could’ve, because Albus couldn’t, and that’s the whole story--we know this. Albus couldn’t bring himself to face Gellert. He avoided it. And unless they screw with the timeline, Albus will continue to avoid it until 1945 and Gellert’s threat is too great. The blood trot was an excuse to avoid it; no longer does Albus have that excuse, but here... he had the perfect chance to defeat Gellert, just as Gellert had to defeat him, and he couldn’t take it.
Neither of them want to fight each other.
And then Gellert’s yell; “Who will love you now, Dumbledore?” and it’s such a pointed use of “Dumbledore”. I think Gellert knew that Albus would never be by his side again, but he could almost pretend otherwise. Using Albus’ surname here was Gellert trying to break their bond further. Their bond is already broken. The blood trot is on the ground, shattered into 2, but that trot was just a pact--in the end, it didn’t change their feelings. As I said, the trot was an excuse, now there isn’t one. They still can’t defeat each other, but Gellert tries to toss their broken bond in Albus’ face with the use of his surname. They once had each other. Now they don’t. Now Albus is alone as much as they both know he still loves Gellert.
“I was never your enemy. Not now. Not ever.” This is to the entire wizarding community... but i sorta take it as almost being mostly to Albus. What they had wanted was to be together. Gellert the moment he met Albus and fell in love with him, he wanted to rule by Albus’ *side*--and it was Albus’ idea after all. They weren’t enemies, but lovers now torn across the battlefield.
5) The Wedding - this isn’t really about the wedding but... Albus (and I once again applaud Jude Law here) had so many feelings coming from him in this scene. There was a happiness, of course, for Queenie and Jacob. But there was also a wistfulness and a sadness about him. Jude said so much in this scene without saying anything at all. I could feel that Albus was thinking of his one time lover, of the life that they had once dreamed of having together. Albus is a lover of love. We knew this through the harry potter books and now it’s even more prominent since the heart and soul of this movie was a love story between him and Gellert. He gave his entire heart and being to Gellert. Gellert is his soulmate in so many ways, and Albus knows this. And it makes me think of how Albus really is alone, right up until he dies. Of course, he has important people around him, but he never loves again. How can he love again when his heart still belongs to Gellert? I truly don’t think he ever even considers giving it away again. I think that’s for multiple reasons.
Obviously, because he still loves Gellert, but perhaps he even feels betrayed by his own love and heart. His heart had chosen someone... who had so much darkness within him and though Albus once thought of ruling “for the greater good” we know Albus and we know that he’d never want to go to the levels that Gellert does. It’s not in him, and he knows he shouldn’t, but his heart still loves Gellert. That’s not something that’ll ever just... go away. So perhaps Albus through his life thinks its almost better to not let himself love. He has people he cares for, but he always keeps them at a length, never letting them get too close.
No one ever really got to see the real Albus Dumbledore other than Gellert Grindelwald when you think about it.
And seeing Albus watch the festivities from outside, in the cold snow, happy and wistful and sad, but never letting himself join in... is just another heart-break on top of the heart-break from the battle.
We know how this story ends for the both of them and though the world might get their “happy ending”, the tragedy of it is that the hero of the story, Albus Dumbledore, never does get his... his happy ending, when you think about it, might not have ever existed at all.

*cackles* I was ABSOLUTELY picturing a woman tbh.
And now all I can see is this lil (5'6 is good, puts her a solid whole person shorter than basically everyone but the hobbits and Gimli there) scowling person (now an elf again maybe? just NOT in Feanor's body bc that was too long ago, souls got a different picture of itself now) stomping up to Nerdanel and being like, "I AM SO SORRY!"
And Nerdanel- Nerdanel's eyes meet fire and, the color is wrong, a warm brown, not blue but, 'oh. Feanor.' "I don't know if I can forgive you for their deaths."
And this person, (you know what i dub them Rose bc RED and PRICKLY and very flammable) makes like 10 different faces in quick succession, "Oh no yes, I do get that. Not asking you to. But that's not what I'm talking about. SEVEN CHILDREN. SIX PREGNANCIES. I AM SO SORRY."
Nerdanel. Blinks. And- laughs. Fully and long, tears of mirth in the corners of her eyes for the first time in- far too long. "I rather did like the results, though the effort was long and hard."
Nardenel's eyes, drift over them catch on the wild tangle of nearly black curls wrestled into a bun on top of her head and pinned in place with a stylus of some kind, an odd shift of airy fabric dyed in odd swirls with a strangely proportioned leather jacket over it, and equally strange heavy soled boots that looked to have been hastily slipped on, laces loosely stuffed in the tops. It was nothing her husband would have looked twice at except to sniff derisively and certainly nothing he would have worn.
Well then. Nerdanel sits on the bench behind her, laying her skirt out with the ease of long (long long) practice. "My name is Nerdanel Mahataniel, I am a master stone worker and sculptor. I was once married to a prince and a fool, but he died a very long time ago now. Might I know your name?"
Brown eyes blink at her, hope bleeding into them like the sun over the sea. Then lips quirk in a familiar slow smile. She falls into a seat across from Nerdanel. "I'm Rose Barnett. I don't really have a, a craft? I was going to school for- well , something that doesn't actually have an equivalent here. Lore keeping, maybe. Sort of. And, well, as Rose I've never been married, or even in a relationship really. See, I kept looking for someone, and was always very disappointed when I never found them."
Nerdanel smiles.
(Well HECK, that's almost part of a FIC isn't it. *pokes it dubiously* I picked Barnett bc it's a last name that means 'a place cleared by fire' which, c'mon, PERFECT foreshadowing name for someone who finds out they used to be Feanor. She was in school to do something with computers, I think. Databases maybe? She gets twitchy about the idea of destroyed knowledge and UNSHAREABLE, paywall blocked knowledge. No idea why that could be.)
It is almost part of a fic and I LOVE IT
I also love that we both think that this lady has stompy boots. I thought of lady reincarnation of Feanor and my mind went ‘she needs stompy boots.’
Also i love the name don’t mind if i just-
-
It’s weird.
There is no other way to say it. Arriving in Tirion with her - former? Current? Estranged? Why are relationships so HARD - wife is weird.
Everyone is taller than her, everyone is bright and glowing in a way that Rose knows that she isn’t - a part of her reminds her that she was once that these streets were hers and Rose promptly shoves that part of her back into the mud - and Rose can’t help but feel inferior in a way that she’s used to, being a woman in tech doesn’t exactly get you any brownie points with the bros, but that makes her itch and want to rant at something.
It doesn’t help that everyone is taller than her by a good margin. Even Nerdanel who is a lovely darling woman who stays close to Rose as they make their way through Tirion’s streets is taller than Rose.
(Rose is going to deny that her first thought upon seeing Nerdanel was ‘Oh I’m VERY gay’ followed immediately by a sense of regret and longing for something that once was.)
Still, no one interrupts them on their way to what was Fëanor’s house in Tirion. Rose knows the layout, she knows every arch and structural support in the building and still when she and Nerdanel walk up to the gate Rose has to bite her lip to stop from swearing.
“Okay, I know we lived here,” Rose says as they pass through the doorway, “But this is-“ She gestures a bit helplessly. “-a little much?”
Nerdanel’s lips quirk into a smile as if Rose has said something amusing. Excuse you! Rose is being reasonable! She’s coming from a seven hundred square foot apartment! She’s allowed to be a bit shocked!
“You were a Prince,” Nerdanel reminds her.
“Yeah, right,” Rose says and does not make off color jokes about guillotines.
There’s noises from a door in front of them and Rose recognizes it as the family room and Rose stops. There’s a mess of feelings in her stomach guilt and love and regret and self loathing all at war inside her.
Her sons are behind that door and she is not who she once was. She is not their father anymore. Not in a way that they would know.
But she loves them still. Loves them with a fierceness that scares her. They are hers.
She might not be theirs but they are still hers, and if they don’t want her now, after all that has been said and done, Rose will understand.
It will hurt like a bitch.
But she’ll understand.

actually i changed my mind i'm doing liner notes while fic is stlil fresh in my brain
i wanted so so badly to title this "how could i ever be so dumb to believe i'd be the one you would adore" but it was too long. heartbreaking. this would still have been such a baller title. i did consider "the one you would adore" but i think the title i settled on was better lol
i also wanted to use smth from no love in february which is also pretty dyssol for this exact scenario u kno. wnating sol to have reached out to him and hten not getting it <3 "where were you when i needed to hear you say / turn around i'm right behind you!" all that shit its soooo good for htem tbh
originally sym emerged "from the shadows of the forest" and my beta was like "there's no forest this is the ridges, the whole point is there's no forest" and i had to pull up the literal in-game text that has him emerging, quote, "from the shadows of the forest." they were so angry it was immesnely funny. i did cut it tho bc it's technically inconsistent w/worldbuilding LMFAO
i kind of wish it'd come up more but part of this sol is characterized by being unaugmented. real fucked up that people just give u extra kudos for not being augmented lmfao i do think abt that as the perk a lot
this sol's also super poly. i wanna go into this in another ficlet maybe but she was genuinely really vibing with dys's crush on sym from the start (which is part of the reason he was confused abt whether or not she liked him, lol)
originally this run was gonna be ot3 but i fucked up the timing of sym's last event but honestly? ive mentioned this before but hinge poly sol/dys/sym? does vibe. tfw ur boyfriend is clearly in love w/ur girlfriend who shes not dating also and u jsut ahve to deal w/that
a lot of the convo ended up rearranged from canon to better flow, and some stuff got cut. im still SO sad i couldnt work in dys droppign his entire dinner in the fire thats like one of my favorite parts. dyssol is best when they are both STupid <3
also sad in retrospect i had to cut the whole "where were you" but again it did not fit. i just wanted them yelling stupidly at each other tbh LAKHSGLKAHSLDKG
so i wrote this entire fic out of order starting with "you absolute spacehead, i am in love with you" which means when i wrote the part where sym cuts in my beta, who never got this scene, went SYM WAS JUST THERE? and i was like. yeah. thats canon btw thats part of the canon scene. and they lost it
"i am so stupid into you, i love you more than anything or anyone in this whole dumb universe" as a dramatic love confession is fun i think. simultaneously very like...... desperate and aching and also kind of stupid u kno. very nineteen of her. one of my fave lines from this in general tbh
the funniest possible note from my beta on the middle of the kiss
"i want all those kids tammy and i picked out dumb names for when we were nine" is another personal fave lmfao. again. dumb teens trying to talk abt the future and what they want
it was really important to me that sol didn't look pretty while she was crying. snotty + wet-faced and kind of ugly about it u kno. dyssol are a little gross and they love each other about it! it's aprt of the love
ive always thought abt dys not having anyone to find him on the spaceship (if hes not sols childhood friend) and connecting that to him disappearing on the ridges. the vibes. impeccable. of course he goes home with sol then if they ask, it's the first time anyones come looking. god. (thinking abt dyssol) GOD
dys: hey does anyone think its weird youer both just dating me now. no? just me? okay
i mean obviously the polyam negotiations DO come but again. this sol+sym in general are both just like. sweet more people to love dys
i didnt tag this as marz+dys or utopia+dys but it is immensely importnat to me that he has multiple people who love and worry and care for him. marz fucks up a lot as kids but i like how if u try to bully dys in her 10 shes like :/ no you moron im trying to KEEP him from dying :////
"clinging like he's five years old" This One Was On Purpose
originally at the end there was a joke sol made abt jumping him but it didn't fit tonally. i do think its immensely funny conceptually still tho
WOW THESE GOT LONG LMFAO anyways i lvoe ridgefic the whole ridge confession really did smth to my brain. enjoy the fruits of my disease
#what do i normally tag liner notes as shit i havent written any in soooo long#how do you writing#teenexo stuff#i was a teenage exocolonist spoilers

Now Listen Here Sad Bitches - Stop Being Sad
Pairing: Yan!Xisuma x Reader (idk if it's rlly yan tbh)
Request: If you’re up to it can I get yandere nHo hcs? Bc I’m desperate for nHo content, But if you don’t know enough about the nHo boys can you do a continuation of your yandere xisuma fic? bc it was really good👀
Word count: 5k words
Warning: Falling, Depression, Death, Yandere (?)(just a bit posessive/protective at the end), Bit of confusion/memory loss, Mention of Running Away
This is a Part 2 to Ugly Fuckling
If this EVER looks funky or glitched, here's a link to it on Ao3.
_______________________________________________________
A methodical ticking echoes around the room, the only indicator that time was passing. The room was nearly a blinding black, yet a ray of moonlight made its way into the room. From that, you were able to see Xisuma. Without his helmet covering his face, he looked much more welcoming and soft. It wasn’t like he wasn’t soft and welcoming anyways, he just looked so much softer and approachable. A real person - man what were you even thinking?
Mentally shaking off that train of thought, you let your mind wander onto a different topic. Since Xisuma stopped you from following through with your impulsive decision to leave, he hadn’t exactly let you out of his sight. A few of your activities were free from his supervision, but otherwise you were with him.
At first you felt like an absolute bother to him, but his insistence that it was all fine made things better. Minimally better, if you were to speak honestly. It didn’t alleviate your feelings at all. He was being so nice and attentive to you and your needs. And what were you doing with that? You were being the little debbie downer that you are and not getting better. Come on, this was all for you. That meant you had to get better for him since he was putting so much effort into making you get better.
He made you all of your favorite foods, cuddled you any time even a tear fell from your eyes, asked about what was worrying or saddening you and trying to talk you through it to feel better, and so much more. All around it was everything you needed, really it was. Everything was getting better, yet you weren’t.
This had been going on for days, and you were still thinking of leaving. Though technically you did. Maybe the entire server moved with you. Maybe that fact could be ignored. Maybe. Everyone gathered up and went to a new server not too long after your most recent “escape” attempt. You weren’t sure if it was the unsaid yearly move to a new season or what, but it seemed a little too convenient if you thought about it. But thinking was a laborious and bothersome task. So no thoughts - only depression. Yea, that’s how things rolled for you.
The thought of leaving was far from leaving your mind. It was always on the backburner, but became a prominent thought whenever you weren’t with anybody. Especially Xisuma. Voices whispered to feed your insecurities, giving a source for your depression to grow off of. And boy was it growing. Adding in this new move made you question a bit more.
You knew you wanted to leave the server because of how icky, disgusting and disappointing you were, but now you were truly realizing where the issue lay. Wel, you knew before, but it just became more evident. It wasn’t the server itself. The issue lay between you and the hermits. So that feeling of not belonging? Still rather prominent. Even with their fresh new start where everyone had the same resources, said “resources” were nonexistent since everyone started with nothing, it was rather evident you still didn’t belong.
Grian was the only one who didn’t build a “starter house” immediately. That made two hermits you knew who didn’t make a starter house. The two hermits being you and Grian, so that made you feel better. Until you found out the reason he didn’t make a house was because he went to defeat the Ender Dragon and get loot from end cities. Yea that really didn’t make you feel better. And these “starter” builds the others made were no joke. They weren’t even starters, in your opinion. These were whole builds in and of themselves. Like things you’d be building late game, if you even got around to making anything that could compare.
Once again, your mind cemented that you were very alien to this group. Alongside the “new fodder” that you had, which was really recycled thoughts, memories, or insecurities, you started to cry. Stifling your sobs without being able to cover your mouth with your hands is a very hard task. All remaining strength you had went into calming your breath and being as silent as possible. You still allowed the tears to continue their route down your cheeks with no intent to stop them. If you only allow tears to flow with no noise, you can get your emotions out while not bothering Xisuma. A win-win.
Time was illusive, slipping through your hands like sand. One moment you were crying next to Xisuma in bed then a blink later you were waking up in an empty bed. The ever annoying sun was flaunting its energy and jovial beams into the room and blinding you with it. Man, how you envied the sun. It was able to get up every day and do its duty. And not even the duty it was exactly made for. One that it conveniently worked with. A necessity to life.
Still, you layed in bed. Too lethargic to move on your own; there was no will or energy to move. Well, there was one reason; you wanted to search for Xisuma. Where could he have gone off to? He wasn’t in the bed. Somewhere else in the house? Out on a project? Who knows. The likelihood of him being gone was high and that, along with the thoughts, kept you in the bed.
The day passed. Maybe you slept. You were still very tired and very sad, so it really made no difference in the end if you did actually sleep sometime that day since nothing changed. Snuggling into the blankets for warmth and comfort, you awaited for Xisuma’s return. Though you don’t remember him saying that he was going anywhere in particular yesterday. Did he? Memories blurred together and multiple days became one mushed memory. Many memories of him mentioning future projects to you or other things came to mind. How recent were those? Mulling over your memories, you tried to pinpoint when they happened based on some other memories. You referred to them as your “time reference memories”... They had a different name, but the name eludes you. But that was their purpose, so that name shall stay.
Soon a plethora of other memories came to mind as you quickly sorted through them. So they obviously didn’t take place in the same time area-frame thingy as when you joined the Hermitcraft server. That was months ago- clearly off the table. Then did they happen around the time you were building the trash on the server? Also a big no- that’s way too early. Oh dear- all the memories that were popping up were far too early. Crap- think. Think, think, think. Come on, more recent. What about when you tried to leave? Well it happened after that, but much closer.
A flash of memories pass behind your eyes yet you can’t decipher all of them. It was obviously some memories and you could faintly see some things, but it was all a blur of colors. You didn’t have the time for this right now. After you figure this out, you could reminisce on them. Now you had to figure out which memory out of the blob you had was most recent-
Staring at the ceiling did nothing to help. No new spark of memories came up, even with your mind scrambling for any scrap it could get its little grubby hands on. Great- now you were stuck going off of his appearance and what the house looked like during those times. Now the dilemma was “which came first”. Almost every memory took place in the house.
Wait! He didn’t have the diamond armor in all of them! Only two of them had diamond armor involved. Specifically on Xisuma. You didn’t have anything on this new server. Well, compared to him or any other hermit, anyways. To say you were behind or “lagging” was an understatement. Having iron armour isn’t really a flex. Especially when it goes missing. Like who just up and loses armor like that? You do, apparently.
That isn’t the point. Stay focused! So he had armor, what did the house look like? Or anything outside the window?
Finally a lightbulb went off in your mind. Of course! He talked about a fire last time. Yes, you were sure of you. Not sure why but you were very sure of that fact. He mentioned that some gravel on a mountain was on fire and he wasn’t sure why. Then he talked about a building in the next memory… Everything was starting to add up! Oh you felt so smart right now. So good.
So what mountain did he say he was going to? It was a villager hall, right? Or was it the future place for a build… No, villager hall because he mentioned villagers and trading. Obviously not another build. But what if it was? Now you were conflicted because you were so sure but at the same time doubt pranced around your mind obnoxiously. Your anxiety was getting ticked off more.
First the disappearance of Xisuma and now your worries are getting to you? Really, it was the opposite order. More of an Oreo, but that wasn’t important.
Taking a deep breath, you try to get your thoughts under control again. Regain you cool. Alright. If you find Xisuma then you can calm everything else down. That was your biggest worry right now. The longer you didn’t know Xisuma’s location and condition, the worse your mental state became. From there, it was obvious how everything would decline.
All you had to do was go to Xisuma. Right. Go to Xisuma. Who is outside. Out of the bed. Debating on whether or not to leave the comforting confines of the blankets or search for Xisuama was definitely something. It was hard but also wasn’t all at the same time. Because yes, staying in bed and being warm would be amazing. The preferred option. But you were worried about the lack of Xisuma’s presence. That took precedence over comfort.
Grumbling, you slowly start to drag yourself out of bed. More accurately rolling out and only turning to properly get out of bed and onto your feet. Same end result really. Slowly, as to not cause a dizzy spell, you get up and walk toward the door. Said dizzy spell still hits you like a baseball gets hit by a bat, but there was an attempt. Black overtakes your vision for a second before everything goes back to normal. Boy you didn’t miss those pounding headaches with dizzy spells. Damn vertigo.
Shaking your head, you steady yourself for the journey to the outside. It was going to be perilous. Well not really, but your mind tried to come up with the worse case scenarios. Like some Dream SMP members coming for you to drag you back. Or pillagers near or at the front door. Or some other nasty mob. Oh the possibilities were nearly endless. But you had to do this.
Hyping yourself up, you mentally prepare for what you could think of. Aka prepare for something bad like pain. To be fair, pain would be better than a Dream SMP member but pain still hurts.
A noise of annoyance leaves your lips as you once again try to get yourself back on track. You hated how easily distracted you got sometimes. Though it did help in some situations. Admitting to that wouldn’t be too helpful in any regard so back to ignoring it you go.
Soon you’re back on track and continuing your journey. The only thing standing between you and the outside world stared at you. The front door. It wouldn’t be for long. All you had to do was open it and then start the other leg of your journey and- wait.
The door greeted your face with a nice hearty slam as you walked right into it. Confusion was just written all over your face. You grabbed the knob, did you not? Taking a step back, you peer down. Low and behold, you were holding the door knob. Your brows furrowed as you twisted the knob. Nothing happened. Trying with more strength and vigor or whatever might do something? Maybe it’s just stuck. Unlikely but hey! Delusions are much sweeter and easier to swallow. Plus being more violent with an inanimate object makes it work! Usually, anyways. Beat a banana and you get mush so not always. That’s besides the point because the darn door still refused to open. Huffing, you try being a little harder with the door. Though that leads to nothing but you fearing it breaking. One creak escapes the poor door and you’re off of it like a puppy squealed rather than a door.
Anxiety started to bloom in your chest for the uptenth time or whatever. It’s happened a lot and that’s all that matters. Deep breaths. In and out. In and out. It’s just a door. If it breaks it can be replaced. Also it’s a door. It’s probably fine. Though you didn’t exactly want to test that. Who knows when the door is going to just say “nope! I’m done” and just break?
Leaning against the door, you slide to the floor as you think of another plan to leave. The door was locked, right? This is a brand new door we’re talking about. Rust couldn’t have shut it already, right? You were by the sea though so who knew what the salt and water was doing to it. That ruins doors, wood, and mentals, right? If only you were a builder or someone more fluent with stuff like this. Someone who knew how stuff like that worked. Because wow, you were beyond dumb on that subject.
You curl up in defeat. Bringing your knees to your face, you wrap your arms around them to secure them. To feel safer and smaller. Block out the world. All you wanted to do was stay there, just like that. Not that exact position, but you want to feel comforted and safe. A craving for belonging and love. Although something you craved, whenever it was just handed to you or offered, you turned it down. Nobody actually likes you. They just want to use you.
Everyone has used you in the past for something.
Tears started to form in your eyes. As you lift your head from the curl, you take a deep breath. This is annoying, tiring. Crying is useless right now. Nothing is going to be fixed this way.
As you subdued the tears, you looked around the house again. There had to be another exit, right? Maybe. Half of the houses you’ve lived in only had one entrance or exit. The other half either had a secret exit or another doorway. This wasn’t one of the latter, though. It was one of the former; you were only informed of one way to exit or enter the house. Xisuma didn’t mention any emergency escape. Well there weren’t any holes in the house besides that- OH WAIT!
Smacking your forehead, you scramble to your feet and look directly at the closest window. If it had the ability to, it’d probably be sweating out of fear or anxiety. Either or, that window wasn’t going to have a good time. Fortunately for you, though, the window couldn’t judge you. And the window is very easy to climb out of.
Walking closer for inspection, it didn’t seem like it’d be too hard to open. Just flick a latch or two and just lift the bottom. You’re home free after that. The latches weren’t an issue. Grabbing the bottom of the glass, you silently pray that it won’t be as stubborn as the door.
Some deity was feeling nice today because the window opened without much trouble. A little elbow grease but that was a small price to pay. Now started the awkward maneuvering to get outside. This was one thing you didn’t miss from your past.
First a leg, then the other, and slide later, you land ungraceful into the outside world. Either you were going to land on your face or bum and you didn’t want any of that. So instead you did a nice little dance.
Okay so dance would be the fun way of stating it. What happened was you stumbled around for a bit, waving your arms around in a desperate attempt to regain balance. But you get to stay on your feet, so the trade off of your dignity was well worth it. Plus nobody was around to see it.
Once balanced, you were in awe of the builds that were just a wall away. How much has changed since you last came out? How long were you inside? You only remember the comically tall portal and the partial build of the portal tower being around when you came. Besides the starting house and a few other small things, of course. But now there were two completed towers. The dark one was obviously the portal tower because of the color scheme. What was the other than? It was colored like a lighthouse with the red and white bands encompassing it, but you didn’t want to say anything definitely. After all, it was somewhat hard to tell.
The coloration indicated a lighthouse, along with the silhouette, but it looked a bit too artistically done. And when something is artistically done, it could be anything. So you’ll call it tower two! Tower two was rather pretty!
Xisuma wasn’t around though. Right. The mountain wasn't around here, was it? Where was it, anyways? It must’ve been pretty far away.
With the prospects of a long walk ahead of you, your shoulders slump. Dear lord, this was more work than you wanted to go through. Who knows how far it is! But it wasn’t just some walking for fun, it had a purpose.
Gathering your remaining energy and grit, you start the laborious, long, and treacherous journey through the continent for Xisuma. Hiking wasn’t your strong suit and keeping an eye out for Xisuma too? This makes everything so much harder.
You were only able to get off the island and back onto the mainland, where you started to scale the mountain before you heard a ruckus. Progressively, it got louder and more discernible. Yelling. Sounded like words. Gibberish, but it slowly grew clearer.
“Oh my gosh,” danced with the wind by your ears. “Oh no.” A cry of your name, or something really similar. Were those words? Those couldn’t be words, right? Whipping your head around, you see Xisuma running your way frantically. Okay, so those were most definitely words if the scene before you proved anything.
Excited, you start your descent back to the ground. Step by step. Is it step by step when you’re climbing? Your focus is on Xisuma. Pretty much entirely. It really shouldn’t have as you misjudge the next step. In the blink of an eye you went from viewing rock to viewing sky and a scary feeling building in your chest. The feeling grew exponentially and it didn’t take a genius to know what was going on.
A scream ripped its way from your chest as it tightened more. Said scream doesn’t last long for it ended as quickly as it came. No air could move, no noise could come out any more. Air was stuck in your throat, unable to reach your lungs. Fear paralyzed your muscles, eyes shut for there was no difference in the view. Everything was blurred and the black was more welcoming and comforting.
Too fast. Time wasn’t even a consideration. A social construct thrown out the window as soon as your fingers lose contact with the rocks.
The ground had to be near by now. It felt like hours passed now, but at the same time everything seemed to be zipping by.
Contact is made, and you expect it to be the end. You grunt as all remaining air is forced from your body. Another noise came from beneath you. Gasping for air, panic made you feel so cold. Is this what death felt like? No air was coming in and you definitely hit the ground. Were you going to die because you slipped up?
Black was encompassing your vision once again. Frantic attempts to regain air were barely rewarded for your lungs remained mostly empty. Everything still felt paralized, but now your chest felt worse. It hurt so much.
Something was moving beneath you. Pink entered your failing vision. It shifted you around, moving your head and body. More accurately, it moved. Your head was placed on a soft surface while your body was on something else.
Slowly your vision ebbed back to reality. Or you did. Everything still felt wonky. But an axolotl helmet came to greet you. That was a nice thing about your vision clearing, you guessed. Pretty pink axolotl.
“Are you okay,” the axolotl shakily asks. It’s hands were shaking and it sounded masculine.
“Yea,” your voice felt and sounded weird. Very airy, frail, and kinda delirious. You know, the “I don't feel right” type of delirious. Is that delirious? Oh wait you were talking! “Yea i’m good.”
“Are you sure,” the axolotl keeps persisting. It seemed to be looking over you for any injuries. How nice of it! “Double sure? Triple sure? No scrapes? Nothing hurts?”
“I’m absolutely sure,” you assure. Man this was a comfy place and you wanted to stay here longer, but you need to get standing. With shaky arms and legs, you unsteadily get up, stumbling or leaning a bit too much at times. The axolotl panics and helps you to your feet, never letting go afterwards. You thank it for its help and try to walk away, back to Xisuma’s house. Though it assists you, staying by your side as if it were attached with cement.
“You need to stop doing stuff like this,” it begs, leading you by the elbow. “It’s like everytime i’m gone, you purposely go get yourself into trouble, get hurt, or try to leave. I don’t get it. Why do you keep doing it?”
To say you were confused would be an understatement. What’s it even talking about?
Suddenly a thought hits you like lighting and everything starts to line up. This is literally Xisuma. How did you forget that? He changes skins with every new season. Wow you either hit your head, panicked and forgot every important detail ever, or you really needed the oxygen for those brain cells because they finally got what they needed to function.
“Sorry,” you really are sorry. For half of those things, if not almost all of them. If you were simply allowed to go back to the Dream smp in peace, you would be completely fine. Not a bother to the hermits, not a walking hazard to society, and you wouldn’t feel inadequate anymore… Actually that wouldn’t go away no matter where you went or what you did. “I didn’t mean for any of that to happen.”
Xisuma doesn’t reply to your words and you start to panic again. “You weren’t in the house and I got really anxious, okay? I didn’t remember where you said you were going and I just… I needed a hug. I know that sounds stupid or childish, but i wasn’t feeling good. And you said that if I needed something, I'd just have to go to you. Oh who am i kidding, this was the dumbest thing ever. I’m so so sorry for bothering you-” Tears started to well up in your eyes, blurring your vision entirely. You were thankful that you weren’t walking alone while like this. Who knew what else you’d get yourself hurt on.
Not only were your words stopped, but your whole body was too. Jerked back by Xisuma, your teary eyes look directly at his visor which only reflects back your pitiful face. Though you don’t see it for long as you’re pulled into a hug by Xisuma. This only causes you to cry harder.
“Hey hey hey,” Xisuma’s voice is a low murmur, a comforting rumble from his chest. “It’s okay. It’s alright. Did I not tell you where I was going before I left?”
Shaking your head, a tiny “no” escapes you between sobs. Xisuma just hugs you tighter and you snuggle closer. That’s if you can, but you still try.
“Oh i’m so sorry,” he starts to pat and rub your back in a comforting manner, repeatedly apologizing for forgetting to tell you. And other things. Though you can’t exactly tell what they are through your sobbing.
It takes ages for you to calm down. You don’t really have much to go off of, besides the sun. What was once a noon sun glaring down on you was a peaceful sunset over the ocean. When you finish crying, only shaky breaths and tear stains remain to show off the previous crying fit. That and the red eyes.
The sunset is pretty, so you focus on that. Positioning your face to not have it smooshed into Xisuma’s chestplate was a struggle since he was holding you so tightly. But you managed. Soon your face wasn’t full on smooshed into his chest plate, only the side. Your cheek was definitely doing that pancake thing which smooshes out like a flat tire.
Everything’s so peaceful and quiet. Only the waves and sea life disturb it, but it made a great background noise. Xisuma soon adds to everything with some light humming. Rumbling from the chest is so comforting. Why was it such a forgettable yet amazing thing? It felt so nice.
With the humming came some rocking. Going side to side, humming a nonsensical tune. Not long after, you join in as well. Yours was definitely less consistently though, for it was broken up but little giggles. The longer you two went on, the more you giggled.
His arms unwrap themselves and you feel disappointed and saddened by the loss. You needn’t wait for long though, as on both sides of your body, you suddenly feel a tingly sensation. Bursting out into laughter, you try to struggle away from the tickle attack Xisuma has launched on you. But he’s relentless, keeping up with your retreat. It’s only when you’re out of breath, on the ground, and playfully yelling your surrender at him, that he stops.
You two start to calm down again. Laughter slowly ebbed away to chuckles or silence. Not an uncomfortable or awkward silence by any means. A safe and comforting one.
“Come on,” Xisuma prompts, getting up from the crouched position he had to be in for his attack, giving out his hand when he was properly on his feet. “Let’s get home before mobs start to spawn.” You’re more than happy to take his hands. With a pull, you’re brought back to your feet. But you two don’t let go of each other’s hands.
Together you two finish the trek home, and rather quickly too. With the sun setting, it was just a matter of minutes before danger would appear. Luckily you two made it to safety without any issues. The beginning area Xisuma had set up was well lit, safe from the dark and the dangers it harbors.
Being back in the base area made you feel more at peace, calmer, less endangered. Whatever you wanted to say, but you felt safer. And everything looked so pretty at night! You really need to come out more with Xisuma. Staring in awe at the builds in a different light, you and Xisuma dawdle on home.
Everything was perfect again. Just like before. You were happy, Xisuma was happy, what else could you need.
Xisuma walks ahead of you to unlock the front door, to which you say a little “thank you” out of habit and slip on by him and into the house. You do mean it, but still, it’s a habit drilled into you.
After getting back into the house, with some idle chit-chat, you start to get things fixed up in the house. Some dinner was in order for the two of you. After all, you just tried to climb a mountain to find Xisuma and who knows if Xisuma actually ate today. Plus you haven't had anything to eat yet. Whoops.
Leaving Xisuma to his own devices, you continue your conversation as you prepare a meal.
You don’t notice him locking the door and windows, or the dark look he has when he sees the window open, or him putting the keys in his pocket after locking all of the other windows. When he doesn’t reply immediately, though, you turn toward the last direction you heard him from, only to reveal an empty house. Perplexed, you look around a bit, but are stopped by a tap on your shoulder.
Jumping, you whirl around to see Xisuma without his helmet on, chuckling at your reaction. Laughing along with him, you give him a nudge with your hip. He returns it, laughing harder when you’re bumped away from him. This goes on for a while as you cook dinner, with Xisuma helping you.
The night goes on like this. Full of gentle, playful antics and a loving atmosphere. The love you felt was immense. You hadn’t felt happier in months.
Xisuma hasn’t been so scared in months either.
He should’ve secured the house better. Made sure you were fine before he left. Locked the windows before he left.
Now he knows to lock windows. You’d try to use them in the future. Better a situation where you went looking for him than you leaving him. But now he knew.
And all was good again.

Hi! Loved your posts. I wanted to ask you about Jon resurrection. How would be Jon resurrection different from others? Will Mel use some kind of magic like Thoros and Beric or it would involve blood magic like Drogo? Personally I would not like some innocent death to resurrect Jon because it will create more guilt and trauma.
Ciao anon!,
I have understood the assignment, I shall begin working on the whole resurrection series since it seems to come up pretty often!, and tbh I have been working on it on and off for months, so maybe it's high time I actually put some more mindful work on it to bring it to completion so that I can actually give you a honest, well thought and complete answer; and not just some half-cooked blurting out of chaotic thoughts I have not yet organized in a good manner.
Consider me up to the task, tho it might be a while before I actually post it, since the new semester has begun and this first semester of my second year of master does look pretty busy.
I will answer solely to your questions and not go into the specifics because as of now I've not yet organized all of my thoughts on the matter, still I hope it will satisfy you until I manage to post the whole, complete meta series, as always feel free and welcome to send me as many asks pertaining this you want because they are super helpful to me, and they aide me in actually writing my metas! So, thank you in advance for your questions because they are invaluable.
Now, onto your questions:
What differentiates Jon from the other resurrected characters?
First things first. Of all the characters that have been resurrected or will be resurrected (Beric, Lady Stoneheart, DT and Jon Snow) only one of them had a fully developed bond with another creature.
Beric Dondarrion had no creature whatsoever he was bonded with, so his soul possibly went on the next plane (might it be nothingness or some hell or heaven) and from it he was dragged back by Thoros' magic/prayer.
Similarly Lady Stoneheart, Catelyn Stark, had no bond with any of her children's direwolves, she had no bond to any kind of magical creature. She had been dead far longer than Beric was before being called back from death, when the river washed her to the riverbanks and she was found by the Brotherhood without banners. Which would explain, coupled with the tragic losses she experienced and was experiencing as she died, how feral and inhuman she actually returned to be.
Now, onto the realm of interpretation, I do believe that during the blood sacrifice DT also killed herself, offered herself thus four lives were sacrificed (Drogo — Mirri — Dany — the stallion) and four returned from it (Daenerys Targaryen and the three dragons). Why do I believe she died? Because a) Martin did say that what happened to her (survive the fire) is not something normal even for Targaryens (as they were only resistant to it, not immune to it) and that it was a una tantum thing which had something of miraculous (by her POV); b) Until the last few chapters in which Daenerys slowly comes to the choice of making the blood sacrifice she rarely refers to herself as Daenerys Targaryen, but as Dany. A shift in identity as we will see happens to all resurrected characters so far. c) the quote of “The frightened child who sheltered in my manse died on the Dothraki sea, and was reborn in blood and fire. This dragon queen who wears her name is a true Targaryen” (Tyrion II, ADWD) d) also a couple of wording choices pertaining the whole rite itself (the fire dying out, the air coming alive with the songs of dragons, etcetera). DT is a sort of limit case, because she is both the caster and the casted of the rite/blood magic, she is aware of what she's doing deliberately and she does have some kind of preternatural bond with the dragons (Drogon) inside the eggs, but it is not fully formed, it is not even half-formed. It's a potential. A bond in divenire, as we say in Italy, something that can happen and will happen, but it has not happened yet. And it doesn't finalize until ADWD when she rides Drogon for the first time, finally bonding completely with her dragon.
Jon, differently from all of them, has a fully developed and complete bond with Ghost, a bond he has nurtured since the beginning of AGOT, since the moment he advocated for the pups to be spared. Jon has been having wolf-dreams since the moment he was awarded Ghost by the Old Gods, as Ghost was a gift by them (carrying their colors as well) because of his selfness in taking himself off the count so blatantly so that the trueborn Starks could keep the pups. He suspects/knows he might be a warg as well, even if only with Ghost, and as he dies he wargs into his direwolf and there he stays (still in this plane) as his body lies dead into the snow at Castle Black. That, in itself might make the difference. His bond with Ghost is not half-formed, it's not something in divenire, it's there fully formed and nurtured for all the books. That is, imo, the best guess as to what will change Jon's case irrevocably for the others. He never actually died. Not his soul anyway. His body did die, but his soul remained in this plane (the same way Orell remained in his eagle after death) differently than the others. And that might mean the world of difference for him.
Also, the very fact that Jon is warging into Ghost means the Old Gods might have a hand into his resurrection, or the way it will be different than the others.
Now, onto the next question:
Will Mel use any kind of magic or rite?, will it involve blood magic like Drogo?
Good question. I have several theories pertaining how Jon might actually be resurrected. But before that, let me specify on a point, I never consider Drogo in the list of characters who are resurrected because Drogo did not die to begin with. The blood rite was done to avoid that he died, and he didn't die, though he was vegetative, he was somewhat responsive (could walk when helped, enjoyed the sun on his skin and ate when helped) and that makes the difference imo.
Now back onto Jon.
We know Mel has a soft spot for him and thinks him instrumental to the Lord's plan, so it wouldn't surprise me if she tried to resurrect him. Though I am more convinced it will happen disjointly from Mel's will.
Thoros, for example hadn't meant to wake Beric up again from death, he was merely doing a funeral rite and it brought him back. Instead Beric gave Lady Stoneheart the Last Kiss with the intention of giving her his life force.
I've seen theorized Jon might stand up from the fires of a funeral pyre and whilst that would serve the purpose of showing even starker the antithesis with Daenerys, I don't think that is how Martin will play it. As she walked willingly into it, whilst Jon will walk willingly out of it leaving the flames and ashes behind.
What I think might be more probable is that Mel might bestow on him the Last Kiss, a funeral rite (the same one Thoros used on Beric, Beric on Lady Stoneheart and the fire on DT, as she is bride of fire and the flames kiss her skin) and that might, in a first moment serve no purpose further than cleanse him for death.
Then, I fear some part will have both the death of Shireen and the death of Stannis. I know neither has yet happened in the books, but sadly Martin has told us that Shireen will die at the stake as a blood sacrifice for her kings blood. And it is brutal, but it does hold up with what we've been told of the red magic used by the red priests and the blood magic of Asshai.
Whilst the Last Kiss could wake Jon up, and force him from his place inside of Ghost's mind, I am afraid Martin is going to use either Shireen's sacrifice or Stannis' death as propellent for the blood magic to take.
Which replies to your, will it involve some kind of blood sacrifice?, and tbh, for how much I hate the very idea, I'm afraid it might be very much probable.
It could also be that Mel had been trying to resurrect Stannis and in the attempt actually did the opposite, and ended up resurrecting Jon. We know, as Mel repeats, that kings blood has power. Stannis has kings blood, but so has Jon, only, Mel doesn't know of it.
It would be terrible if Martin had the blood sacrifice of Shireen and later Stannis' death used to actually resurrect Jon. It's always blood magic, after all, a mistake possibly told by Mel's POV. It's also possible that Mel might try to use Jon's death and Shireen's to resurrect Stannis and instead ended up using both (Shireen and Stannis) to wake Jon up, only because, differently from the other two Jon is still in this plane so easier access for the magic of the rite to latch onto than the two dead Baratheons.
It would also serve the purpose of Martin to prove that “sorcery was a sword without a hilt. There is no safe way to grasp it.” (Jon VI, ADWD — also notice how this is something Jon recalls Dalla has told him whilst realizing that Mel has power, and he tells it to Mel who replies that Dalla was a wise woman) the fact that Mel's magic might lead her astray and wake Jon up instead of Stannis (who she believes to be the Lord's champion) might bring to full circle the subplot opened by this conversation (also linked with the girl in grey and Jon's sister, so to speak).
I dislike very much the idea of blood sacrifice as well, and tbh I kind of keep hoping Martin might change his mind and have Shireen survive and sit on the Iron throne, maybe beside Bran or as his heir apparent to appease to the lords of the continent as she is the last Baratheon — a Stark boy and a Baratheon girl — (tho I know that is not how it's supposed to end, sadly 😔), but it does hold up with what Martin has created of this world of perilous and dangerous magic, so I am afraid it might be more probable than we'd like.
Not only it would create more guilt and trauma. Jon possibly had nothing to do with either death, so it will cause also rage. As we saw in the show when they had him exile Mel from the North when he discovered her part in the death of Shireen, since he still owed her his life, he didn't kill her (which is unbookJon of him but I digress). Jon does all he can to save children from the stake.
He swaps Gilly's baby with Mance's, only so that because if Mel comes around demanding to use him for a blood sacrifice since he has kings blood he can come clean and say ‘sorry, boy doesn't have any kind of kings blood. He's not Mance's boy’ and save both and that a child's death might be used even unwillingly to resurrect him would give him the hives, would make him rageful and furious, especially if he's more feral because of the time spent inside of Ghost' conscience.
He will possibly feel unworthy of it (he considers himself a turn cloak, a bastard and a oathbreaker and Shireen was kind and good, soft, a princess which would remind him of his own sisters) and even more furious about it.
More trauma on Jon's shoulders, which would be terrible, also will possibly swarm him down into some sort of depression as we see in the show (until he meets Sansa that is) and that would also explain why he would attach himself so feralitly on Sansa's safety. He died to save a sister (only to discover it wasn't his sister to begin with), may find the other in need of help and with what happened to Shireen? He might grow even more protective.
It's all very tragic and traumatic and bittersweet, because let's face it everyone wants Jon's back alive, but not at such a price. Still I am afraid it's what we're going to get, sadly.
Sorry if this saddened you, it saddened me as well (because before your questions I had not considered the involvement that Shireen's death or/and Stannis' death might have in Jon's resurrection), but it does make sense, sadly.
Hope I have replied to all you asked!, stay tuned for the complete meta. I swear it will come! I wish you a very nice day and as always sending all my love. ~G.

So Nightwing 83 is out;
Pros and Cons of it?
I experienced so many emotions while reading that. I need to take a fucking walk holy shit. I'm buzzin'. But, okay, pros and cons. Let's gooo.
I'm still not sure if I'm really all that stoked about Melinda actually being Dick's sister, but I like that Dick still doesn't trust her. I want him to look for more evidence behind what she's saying before he really decides to partner with her though.
Dick's exchange with Audre about him breaking in was kinda funny. "Oh, yeah. I suppose I did."
The helicopter scene was cool even though it looked stupid for him to launch himself right into the line of fire where he could've easily been riddled with bullets (and somehow wasn't).
I don't like that Babs is still wearing that shirt. I actually forgot she was wearing that, so seeing it so suddenly when she was rushing to help Dick was like, "Oh, yeah. There's that thing I hate."
I thought it was weird how Babs casually told Dick that he had been asleep for two days. Like, hellur. Dick got kicked in the head so hard that he blacked out, and he was also hit in the head again prior to that. You're telling me Babs wasn't at all concerned about the reasoning behind him sleeping for two days being brain trauma related? If I knew someone who had been hit in the head so hard that they went unconscious, and if they showed no signs of waking up after a normal amount of sleeping time had passed after said event occurred, I would be freaking the fuck out and calling an ambulance. Just saying.
"Tim's been patrolling for you." You been reading fanfics, Taylor? Ha, I'm kidding.
Dick wearing Converse made me 😂.
I do like that we got to see Dick consulting people in his social circle. I like that he went to his friends for their opinions because that's what we all do irl. We ask our friends for advice and ideas. It also continues to show us that Dick will use his personal connections to help him achieve something.
I gotta admit, the Dick and Clark scene really fucking got me. I'm a sucker for scenes between them. This interaction reaffirmed that Dick did indeed get the Nightwing name from Clark, and it also reaffirmed that Dick is an extremely respected person in the cape community.
"You're a lot like him, you know?" Okay, thanks, Clark. I didn't need my heart today.
Tbh, the thing that really got me was Clark asking Dick to look out for Jon, and Clark thinking of Dick as the ultimate role model. That... speaks so much about Dick's character. Like just think about it. Superman thinks that Dick is the best possible person that Jon could grow up to be like. And it's not just Clark who thinks this either. Oh, no. Slade fucking Wilson thinks so too (at least to some extent) which is exactly why he wanted Rose to adopt Dick's values (via Rebirth Deathstroke #19).
This issue just proved that DC editors sure ain't working hard enough because there was a damn typo during Dick's speech. It should've read, "Too many good people have fallen in Bludhaven," instead of, "To many good people have fallen in Bludhaven." Like come onnn. I betcha they're using the same editor who approved the "Romani smile" line. Yeesh.
The things Dick wanted to do with The Alfred Pennyworth Foundation made me laugh because when Dick was talking about his plans with Clark, Dick was like, "I'm worried it's too small," and Clark was like, "It's not small, it's focused." Focused? It sounds like Dick is trying to tackle a pretty hefty amount of social, economical, and environmental issues. I mean, okay, so he's focusing on Bludhaven mostly. I'll give him that.
Tim's text to Dick made me laugh because, well, yeah. Yeah. Jason texting Dick is... interesting. I have mixed feelings about Jason's current place in the family dynamic, so part of me is like, "Cool," and the other part of me is like hmm... that's a little fanon-y.
Either way, I just think it's funny to imagine all the bats stopping what they're doing to watch Dick talk on TV. You do have to kind of think of them as the Kardashians in a way when stuff like this comes up. Because, yeah, they've seen each other on TV before so it's not like they'd all be rushing to the nearest TV while yelling, "Hurry up! Dick's on TV!" but he is important to them, and they do want to support him still (even though I am questioning said support a bit because writers haven't built up Steph and Cass's relationship with Dick enough so this whole thing feels a little too "perfect family" for my tastes).
Also! Damian texting Dick! We have to assume that Damian is tracking his family (or, at least, tracking Dick specifically) on the web. How else would he have known to watch Dick's speech? Unless someone texted him about it. But uh... that kinda doesn't make sense with Damian running away from his fam and everything.
Heartless referring to Dick as "my first." Hm. Okay. I feel like I need him to be more intimidating or something. His whole aesthetic reminds me of that kabuki mask-wearing dude from Big Hero 6. Yokai/Robert dude. But less ominous.
All in all, I definitely appreciate some of the relationships that were shown in this issue. I still just find the massive support Dick is suddenly getting from all of his friends and family to be a little... off-putting. Specifically, because this arc takes place after the amnesia arc where we got nearly none of that same support. It feels like two large, opposing extremes. The amnesia arc wasn't enough, and in comparison, Taylor's arc almost feels like overkill because of it. As if he's trying to compensate for the lack of support by being like Look At All The Support Over Here! And If You Look To Your Right, Guess What You'll See? More Support!!
I guess it's weird to complain about Dick getting loved on but, narratively, the degree to which it's occurring compared to the last arc just doesn't feel right. There's a lack of build to a satisfying balance.
