The reason there is a question mark is because with cdramas you never know when one will be shelved forever (due to topic or an actor being in trouble) or when the makers just decide to keep it on the shelf for...reasons (there is a drama premiering on Dec 10 that was completed in 2018!). Zhu Bajie's First Wife

In JTTW chapter eight, Zhu Bajie tells Guanyin that he inherited his cave from a mysterious figure:

It's called the Mountain of the Blessed Mound," said the fiendish creature, "and there is a cave in it by the name of Cloudy Paths. There was a Second Elder Sister Egg originally in the cave. She saw that I knew something of the martial art and therefore asked me to be the head of the family, following the so-called practice of "standing backward in the door." After less than a year, she died, leaving me to enjoy the possession of her entire cave (Wu & Yu, 2012, vol. 1, p. 212). 叫做福陵山。山中有一洞，叫做雲棧洞。洞裡原有個���二姐，他見我有些武藝，招我做了家長，又喚做倒蹅門。不上一年，他死了，將一洞的家當，盡歸我受用。

I'm surprised that I've forgotten this "Second Elder Sister Egg" (Luan erjie, 卵二姐) considering how many times that I've read JTTW.

Yu (Wu & Yu, 2012) confirms that Zhu and this figure were married, for the practice mentioned above is a "colloquialism of the Huai'an region, referring to a man living in the woman's house after marriage" (vol. 1, p. 517 n. 31). This means that Zhu had a wife prior to "Green Orchid" (Cui'lan, 翠蘭) from chapter 18.

I was interested in learning more about her and found this Baidu page. It mentions that the luan (卵, "egg") part of her name is actually a transcription error, for the original 1592 edition of JTTW shows a different but similar-looking character. I checked my own copy, and found that it reads Mao erjie (夘二姐, "Second Elder Sister Mao") (see the right side of page 105 here).

Like Baidu, Pleco notes that Mao is the fourth (of 12) earthly branches, which is associated with rabbits. Therefore, Zhu's first wife could have been a rabbit spirit. Can you imagine the kids? They would be a strange pig-rabbit hybrid, pretty much an aardvark.

The Baidu page also mentions that their pairing may be an allusion to yin-yang theory since the fourth earthly branch, Mao (夘/卯, rabbit), is associated with yin wood, while the 12th, Hai (亥, pig), is associated with yang wood (i.e. they complete each other). This kind of stuff is over my head, so I don't plan to delve into it further. But this page does give an overview of the stems and elements.

On a related note, if we were to apply this yin-yang/earthly branch dating approach to Wukong, his partner would be a chicken! This is because the ninth earthly branch, Shen (申, monkey) is yang metal, while the 10th, You (酉, chicken) is yin metal.

Xiran Jay Zhao has changed my fantasy standards forever. The protagonist of Iron Widow, Wu Zetian, is beautifully unhinged and their sheer force of will is inspiring. The internal struggle of wanting to be a force of change and the brutal toll the current world circumstances have on their mental health is all too familiar to any non-man who has been involved in activism across time. I hear their screams of loss, longing, bitterness, anger, hatred, and determination beyond the page. I hear it in my soul. Iron Widow conquers hard real topics with the brutal honesty and ache I've hardly ever seen, let alone in a sci-fi fantasy romance novel.

to put a long story short: at the end of ffxiv's base game, literally Directly before the beginning of its first expansion (heavensward), there is a series of quests and story arcs that eventually snowball into an hour-long cutscene in which the entire thing comes to a head in the literal worst way possible. like, "the hero's plans all go horribly wrong and several major characters die onscreen, with others going missing (presumed dead), eventually culminating in the player character being framed for the murder of the leader of a nation-state and being Literally Forced To Flee The Country" wrong.

heavensward leads directly on from this plotline. you arrive at the major location of the expansion in the midst of seeking asylum whilst being a wanted criminal everywhere else in the world right now. it's like. A Whole Thing. the game makes such a big deal out of it all. the fandom does as well. and for good reason!! it's a really good moment!!!!!!

and then roughly 1/3rds of the way into heavensward you find out that literally none of it mattered. nobody important actually died, no changes were actually made to the status quo, and nothing comes of being literally kicked out of the country for (what is implied to be) several in-universe weeks, if not months. None Of It Mattered. None.

TLDR; the bloody banquet is a major, exciting, and very infamous twist that seems like it's going to segway into a MAJOR upheaval of the status quo and some really intriguing ramifications for the story as a whole... and then heavensward does away with literally all of that and practically writes the entire thing off as a waste of time.

I Ching Reading: Adorning

Adorning is about beauty and attractiveness. It's physical characteristics that are enjoyable. However, adorning can also be an attitude.

The I Ching writes about etiquette. It's about adorning the good - or acting with good intentions to benefit yourself and those around you.

Moving Lines:

1st:

Acting with the best intention for yourself and those around you requires knowing your position. The I Ching symbolizes a commoner avoiding entering a carriage because it's not his place. While this social structure is outdated, the symbol is still applicable.

It's only sometimes right to take an opportunity. Especially if you know it will lead nowhere good. Curiosity may pull you, but it'll only result in hardship. Fortunately, this line signifies that you successfully walk away from these temptations.

3rd:

Another element for adorning is being steadfast in your beliefs. Flakiness tends to be frowned upon, but the most detrimental kind of flakiness is with your own beliefs. If you constantly shift back and forth regarding your beliefs, it portrays you as someone with no moral foundation. How can anyone trust a person like that?

Fortunately, again, this moving line depicts that you're grounded in your beliefs and don't let the whims of the world around you shift it.

Falling Away:

While the gifts of adornment are beautiful, they don't last forever. Slowly but surely, adornment falls away, just like the leaves in autumn. You cannot control it, but you can react to it.

As you master the art of adornment and do what's right for you, life around you will fall apart. It's natural for things to change as you become closer to your true self. With such a change comes difficult times. Unfortunately, those around you may no longer want to be around. While this is painful, if you remain true to yourself, things will get better again.

He already is, in meta, in character, in theming. Him and the joker. He is so very built upon what Gotham is made of, and Gotham builds from what he needs in turn, the setting of his story.

What if that is the reason he can take damage that would permanently ruin a physical career and come back? What if that's how he's managed to maintain his no-kill streak to such an extent? What if that's how he manages to maintain such high maintenance and all consuming identities?

For the heart and soul of a city containing all extremes, the richest nobility and the lowest of the poor, the cruellest villains and the most compassionate heroes, orphaned children and ancient lineages, a city rooted in fear and madness and grit-teeth determination and hard won kindness, what better choice could you find than Bruce Wayne?
