If you're going to date an immortal, you must understand that there are two kinds. There are immortals who live in the moment, pursuing their own bliss, doing whatever and whoever as the spirit (which is them) moves them and their bits. Good for a fling, bad for a long-term arrangement especially if you yourself are not immortal.

Then there are the immortals where forever is forever.

Yin Feng, the Bluestone Immortal and Banished God, is the forever kind of immortal.

Don't take that to mean Yin Feng moves fast; Yin Feng is willing to put in the time, especially if you need to learn the ropes. If it will help you, Yin Feng will spend millennia reading you sutras until you can cultivate a human form. Yin Feng will spend centuries following you through mortal tribulations to protect you to the best of his abilities.

The problem comes if your feelings begin to change, which may be inevitable if you aren't immortal or are a significantly younger immortal than him.

Really, it's the changing part that's the problem. Aside from pursuit of further divine enlightenment, Yin Feng would prefer it if you didn't, please. He can work with amnesia, but if you fall in love with another man when you've forgotten him, he won't handle it well and doesn't understand how to rebuild a relationship from scratch.

Yin Feng doesn't mind doing the work, but he doesn't want to do it a second time when you might be thinking about another man and he doesn't really understand that if he kills the other man in front of you it will not, in fact, make you think of him less. Immortals aren't very good at understanding cause and effect.

Mortals may also find Yin Feng's disinterest in the mortal realm, mortal morality, and mortal lives a turn-off.

You probably shouldn't date Yin Feng.
