Everything I do, I do for her

A/N: I'm taking a quick break from Trollhunters as I'm starting to get burnt out with it, and don't want to get sick of it, so I watched Moana for the first time in 5 years and decided to make this.

Warnings: Angst, swearing, mentions of death, no gore, angst with no comfort

The night was dark and silent over the ocean. On a small canoe, Moana and Maui sat silently as they sailed over the sea.

Maui had taught Moana a great deal that day, and was exhausted, so he sat at the front of the boat while she steered, making sure to keep her under close supervision.

With little else to do, Moana began to look over his tattoos, which the moon illuminated on his back, as she steered.

She glances towards his shoulder, stopping at one particular tattoo that stood exactly where his heart was.

It was of a girl, standing in the ocean, the water going up to her knees as she holds a large bouquet of flowers in her hands. Her smile was wide, and she was obviously very happy, like this was her favorite place to be.

Moana stares at the tattoo curiously until Mini Maui notices her staring. He jumps over Maui's shoulder and waves with a smile.

Moana smiles faintly and waves back before gesturing to the tattoo curiously.

Mini Maui's smile immediately falls into a frown as he looks at the girl, not daring to approach her or interact with her, so she stayed exactly as she was.

"Which one are you looking at?" Maui's voice breaks through the silence.

Moana didn't answer, not wanting him to know she had been staring.

"You're terrible at hiding it, princess." Maui says, glancing back at her. "Which one?"

"The girl." Moana finally responds, her voice quiet. "On your back, where your heart is."

Maui sighs as he glances at his chest, where the exact same tattoo laid over the front of his heart, like it had bled through his body.

"Her name was Xenosa. She was the kindest mortal I've ever had the pleasure of meeting." He explains, his voice heavy, though he tried to hide it. "All of my achievements, everything I did, I gave to the humans. Keep the rep, you know. But everything I did, everything I do… I do it for her."

Mini Maui leans against his boulder with a sad look, letting out an inaudible sigh.

Silence ensued once again, save for the lapping of waves against the side of the boat.

It wasn't exactly tense, but the feeling in the air made Moana know he didn't want her to ask anymore questions. But, of course, she did anyways.

"Have you seen her? You know, since she took your heart?"

"No more questions." Maui says softly.

"But-"

"No. More. Questions." He repeats, looking at her with a warning glare.

She looks at him with a bit of surprise before glancing at Mini Maui. His fingers traced the boulder aimlessly as he stared at the girl with longing. There was so much emotion behind his eyes. Longing, admiration, love, sorrow.

The way Maui had said it… she remembers when she had pushed him to tell her about his backstory, how angry he had gotten, but it wasn't anywhere near the amount of rage she felt radiating off him right now.

"Okay." She says softly, finally dropping it and turning her attention back to the ocean.

Maui sighs softly, glancing at the tattoo one last time, touching it gently with his hand before turning back to the water.

"Eek! Maui!"

Maui laughs as he looks at the now drenched woman in front of him, spitting the sea water from her mouth as she walks onto the beach.

"You jerk!" The woman says, shoving him.

Not that it did much besides make him laugh more.

"Oh lighten up, water lily." He says, ruffling her wet hair.

The woman huffs angrily, glaring up at him before storming off.

"Whoa, whoa!" He says, quickly stopping her.

She glares up at him, water still dripping from her hair and clothes.

"Okay. You're right. That was really insensitive of me to just toss you into the ocean like that." He says. "I'm sorry."

The woman's gaze softens as she looks up at him before she sighs.

"It's alright. I can't stay mad at you, you knucklehead." She says softly, hugging him around his midsection resting her head on his chest.

He smiles slightly as he wraps his arms around her.

He chuckles slightly as he squeezes her.

"I could squish you so easily." He comments.

"I could kick your ass so easily and you know it." She says, making them both laugh.

"You moron." The woman says as she sits with Maui on a rock, his foot resting on her lap as she picks out coconut fibers from his heel.

"Hey! It's not my fault!" Maui says defensively, yelping as she pulls out another fiber. "Your favorite Hibiscus flowers were on the other side of that clearing. They were practically begging to be picked! How was I supposed to know that that clearing was home to an active minefield of exploded coconuts? Yipe!"

The woman gives him an unamused look as she pulls out another shard.

"While I appreciate the gesture, you're still a knucklehead." She says, making him chuckle.

"Aw, come on. You know you love me." He says, leaning close to her.

"Please. The last thing you need right now is to have your ego stroked." She says.

"I can think of something else that needs to be stroked." He says, his smirk growing.

She stares at him for a moment with an unamused expression before standing up, making his foot fall off of her as she begins to walk away.

"Hey! Where are you going!" He calls. "My foot still needs tending!"

"Bandage it yourself!" She shouts.

"You took the bandages!" He says.

He grunts as a roll of bandages suddenly smacks him between the eyes before falling onto the ground.

"Aw, come on! I was kidding!" He says.

She shakes her head as she walks back.

"So inconsiderate. I'm sitting here, in the hot sun, tending to your wounds that you got from your own stupidity, and you don't even say thank you!" She says dramatically, a playful smile on her lips.

"Ya know, you're right. That was really rude of me." He agrees, the same smile on his lips. "If only I had thought of some way to say thank you." He continue, reaching behind his back.

She jumps slightly as he pulls out a bouquet of purple and yellow Hibiscus flowers, all tied together with a string made of bark fibers.

She smiles slightly as she takes the bouquet, looking down a them before smelling them.

"They're beautiful." She says softly, sitting beside him again. "Thank you."

"Anything for you, Buttercup." He says, gently pressing his forehead against hers as they both close their eyes.

"Okay, give me your foot." She says, setting the flowers aside as she goes back to mending his foot.

The woman pants heavily as she and Maui hide inside of a small cave of a small island.

The woman was covered with relatively small cuts, but still looked banged up nonetheless.

"It won't be long until the Kakamora surround the island." Maui pants, looking around the entrance of the cave and surrounding forest.

"What do we do?" She asks, looking up at him.

Maui grabs his chin in thought before smiling.

"Wait here." He says.

"What? Where are you going? Maui!" The woman shouts in a whisper as Maui walks into the forest.

She sighs as he disappears into the vegetation, laying against the wall of the cave.

The minutes ticked by slowly, and eventually, the woman grew bored of sitting and doing nothing, so now, she was pacing the length of the cave, trying to keep her mind occupied

"Guess who." A voice says as a pair of hands go over her eyes.

"By the Gods, Maui!" The woman exclaims, turning to face Maui, who was covered head to toe in a red liquid, that smelled like sweet berries, that made intricate designs on his skin.

"What are you covered in?"

"The solution to our problem." Maui smiles. "The Kakamora aren't very smart. So, we'll disguise ourselves as them!"

"Are you insane?! Would that even work?!" The woman asks. "And what berries are those? Did you take the time to see if they're poisonous?"

Maui hesitates slightly before looking down at his body. He then shakes his head slightly.

"There wasn't time. Look, it'll be fine. Now let's get you dressed up." He says.

He sits in front of the woman as he dips his fingers into a bowl full of the red juice of the berries, gently drawing on her lips, face, collarbone and stomach.

As he continues, she begins to squirm, making him huff in annoyance.

"Quite moving, or I'm going to have to start over." He says.

"You know I have a hard time sitting still." She mumbles.

"Yeah, yeah, I know."

"It would be quicker if you let me do it myself."

"The Kakamora have very intricate designs. I've spent my entire life fighting these murderous little pirates, and have every detail memorized. If you do it, they will recognize you." He says.

She huffs again as she sits still, allowing him to continue.

After a few more minutes, she looks at him with a slight smile.

"You know, in some cultures, painting on each other's bodies is a sign of marriage." She says.

Maui stops for a moment to look at her with a smirk.

"You tryna say something, Buttercup?" He asks.

She shrugs innocently, a dorky smile growing on her lips.

"Okay, okay, slow yourself." Maui chuckles, painting on her again. "Maybe, if we survive this, we can talk about marriage."

She sticks her tongue out slightly before giggling as he paints her arms.

Maui walks up behind the woman, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind as he buries his reddened face in her neck.

"Maui?" The woman asks, looking down at him. "Are you okay?"

"Better now that I'm with you." Maui says with a large, dorky smile on his face.

"Oh by the Gods, Maui, are you drunk?" The woman asks, smiling faintly.

Mini Maui nods his head as he looks at Maui with an unamused expression.

"Ua haʻi aku au iā ʻoe i ka nani o kou mau maka?" Maui asks. (Translation: Have I ever told you how beautiful your eyes are?)

"What?" The woman asks, looking at him.

He chuckles as he presses his forehead against her shoulder, kissing her shoulder blade gently.

"Ke hoʻomanaʻo mai nei kou mau maka iaʻu i ka mālamalama o ka lā i loko o ke aniani whiskey. ʻOi aku ka nani ma mua o nā mea a pau e ʻike ʻia." He continues. (Translation: Your eyes remind me of sunlight shining through a glass of whiskey. More beautiful than all that can be seen.)

"I can't understand what you're saying, asshole!" The woman giggles.

"I fucking love you, you moron!" Maui says irritably, making her laugh.

"I love you too, you dork." She says, kissing the top of his head. "Now, let's get you to bed before you collapse on top of me again and trap me." She says, leading him towards their boat.

"I'm sorry… There's nothing we can do…" The village healer says softly, sorrow and sympathy heavy in his eyes.

"No… No! There-There has to be something!" Maui shouts, a fearful expression on his face.

"Maui, her fever has gotten too high. She's too far gone. I'm afraid she only has a few more minutes to…"

"No! Don't say it! I won't allow it! I can't allow it! I-I-I'll hunt down a cure. I'll pray to the gods! I'll-"

"Maui!" The healer says firmly, making the frantic demigod look at him. "There isn't time." He says, both firmly and sadly.

Maui looks at him before falling onto his knees, covering his eyes with his hand as he let's out a silent sob that shakes his body.

The healer kneels beside him, gently rubbing his back. Mini Maui hugs his arm to the best of his ability, his own eyes filled with sorrow and regret.

"You know she's going to want you with her when it happens." He whispers.

Maui looks at him before nodding, wiping his eyes and standing up.

He walks towards the back of the hut, where two guards pull back the curtains for him.

He stops in the doorway as his heart drops into his stomach at the sight in front of him.

The woman laid on a cot, a blanket draped over her body.

Her face was mostly flushed of color, except a bright red blush covering her cheeks. Her breathing was shallow and irregular, her eyes shut loosely.

As soon as the light reaches her, she slowly opens her eyes and turns her head towards Maui, smiling weakly.

"Hey there, knucklehead." She whispers, her voice weak and barely useable.

Tears began to fill Maui's eyes, but he put on a tough face as he walks into the room completely, the curtains falling behind him.

"Hey, Buttercup." He whispers.

He slowly walks up to her and sits beside her, brushing a strand of hair from her face.

She smiles slightly as she lets out a half hearted chuckle as she stares up at the ceiling.

"I'm not leaving this hut, am I?" She whispers.

Maui closes his eyes for a moment, trying to keep his tears from spilling.

He takes a slow, deep breath in before whispering, "No…" in a shaky voice.

"So much for getting married, huh?" She asks softly, turning back to him.

He smiles faintly as he takes her hand.

"It's not too late, you know." He whispers.

"What do you mean?" She asks.

He looks down at her for a moment before climbing onto one knee, still holding her hand.

"Maui, what are you-"

"Xenosa, will you marry me?" He asks in a soft voice.

She smiles faintly as a few tears begin to trickle down her cheeks.

"Yes, of course." She whispers.

He smiles slightly at her before leaning down and pressing his lips against hers in a slow, passionate kiss.

She releases his hand to cup his cheek as she kisses him back.

After a moment, her hand suddenly falls from his face and lands limply at her side as her whole body goes slack.

Maui slowly pulls away from her, noticing her eyes were still closed.

"Buttercup?" He asks softly, clutching her hand tightly as he cups her cheek.

He clenches his jaw when she doesn't respond, the final bit of color draining from her face.

"Xenosa?" He asks again.

He gently presses his forehead against hers with closed eyes as tears begin to slip past his eyelids, dripping onto her cheeks.

He lets out a shaky sigh as he holds her body close, his own shaking as he takes in the last little bit of heat she would ever give him.

"Xenosa!" Maui gasps as he shoots up from the deck of the boat, looking around in a panic.

He looks towards Moana, who had fallen asleep on the other end of the dock, and was still sleeping peacefully.

He looks around realizing she had anchored the canoe to sleep. They weren't sailing towards Te Fiti, or anywhere.

The stars still glistened above, telling him it was still late at night.

He had fallen asleep… it had all been a dream. A nightmare, of both the best and worst moments of his life.

He sighs heavily as he looks at his tattoo of Xenosa, which had formed mere moments after Xenosa had passed. Mini Maui looks at it sadly as well before glancing up at Maui.

"Oh, the gods hate me." He whispers, laying back down, trying to ignore the stinging of his tears.

Dragonoid's - Encanto Au

Ok I know there already has been a dragon au, but I was listening to the HTTYD soundtrack and when inspiration strikes, I have to take it-

So, in the world, there are two types of dragons. Normal ones you see flying around with "violent" tendencies. And the second kinds are called dragonoid's. Dragonoid's are a sub type of dragons. With every different type of dragon there's a dragonoid to follow.

As a dragon-oid you are either looked at as a Zoo animal, bad omen, or something to kill for money. Dragon scales and just skin in general is very valuable. Just one scale or slither of skin could have you set for life. 

Eggs are even more valuable because the shell is like a crystal. For example:

Plus, dragon eggs have children in them. If you have one, you can have a constant supply of money. (I'll let you figure that entails on your own)

Dragonoid characteristics. 

So, the obvious, scales! 

Scales start from the fingers and slightly pass the cubital fossa in a gradient like fashion. Same for the legs. The scales Start from the tip of the toes and slightly pass the knee. Claws are retractable but are still sharp and noticeable. 

Their skin is also bioluminescent so they have tons of beautiful spots and patterns that light up in the dark. 

Sclera can be a variety of different colors and so can the iris. So when a dragon needs to hide out in the open they need to wear a cloak, as well as gloves. 

If you have horns it’s best to shave them down or find a group to stay with. When you live in a group others can bring in much needed necessities for you. Also, horns can be a variety of sizes and can stretch far. So it’s usually mandatory to shave them down so you can lay down properly.

Alma has smaller horns that are about three inches tall so she doesn’t need to worry about shaving them down. 

Tails are always gonna be long, about five feet in length  for an average adult. But thankfully they are somewhat thin (only 4-five inches thick) and can easily wrap around a dragon's leg as a way to hide it. 

Some have wings, some don't. So, others have to rely on climbing or running/walking. Some can breathe fire, spit out lightning, acid, and some can’t at all. Those that can’t usually rely on their claws and strength. 

And yes, every single dragon has a fondness for shiny things and are semi-hoarders of anything shiny and glittery. 

Typical places for dragon groups to live are far away areas in forests or crystal caves. Crystal caves are the most common places to live and other dragons will fight other dragon groups for it.  (Dragonoid's are smart resourceful people with astounding intelligence, but I didn’t say they weren’t feral, especially when they need safety.)

Alma lived in a pleasant little dragonoid village. She was happy, which is an oddity when you are considered poaching material. It was hidden within the mountains and WAS a safe haven for dragonoid's AND regular dragons.

The story starts out the same, and you know how it ends.

The encanto is one big underground crystal cave mixed with a jungle..sort of? Kind of like this for reference (Yes, it's from HTTYD, BITE ME!)

There’s even a water part for more aquatic dragons. Speaking of which, the underground sanctuary has smaller caves inside fit for families to live in. These smaller caves have large holes in them that work like bedrooms. 

However, as an egg and even a baby, you sleep inside your parents' room until you're at least five years old.

Ooo wait are your thoughts on the two boboiboy movies?

Wah, Nice one!

I've had nostalgic memories when I rewatched movie 1. Particularly because it was the last entry I followed before I went on hiatus. ... 8 years ago I think?

Whereas I watched the second one during my marathon session this year.

Due to 'my messed-up order of watching' this series, I ended up knowing big spoilers about The movie 2 and I forced to give up my 'anti-spoiler' act before I watched it. Kinda of a bummer for the general view, but you know what? It made the scene more fascinating to watch!

"Oh this is Retak'ka? THE Retak'ka?"

"No wonder why Adudu is so into martial arts now."

"So that's how Ice got his bow eh?"

"Oh Fu-Yes! The debut of Fusion Elementals!!!!"

ehem.

From a general technical standpoint, they stepped up their game drastically. Of course, it's for movies after all. They went bold for expanding the areas, improving the graphics, increasing action scenes, and also adding more music as well.

At the same time, they also upgrade Boboiboy and Kokotiam gang's power so it's making it a 'bit' op for the sake of spectacle. It's not that bad in a negative way, I understand that because the enemies themselves were hella strong as shit. (the first one used a black hole and the second one used all-in-one power hunger fest that could also destroy the galaxy. Logically the earth's supposed to be gone by now :/).

I loved what they did to the lighting and hue for both movies. it's like watching smash bros ultimate but in the movies(weird reference I know but hope you get the idea :/)

The details! Holy- IT'S SO PRETTY~~~

Both of them were also establishing the expansion power of elementals and what they can do about it. The first one was the fight with all elementals showcased and the second one was the alternative way of fighting by combining two elementals.

Alsoooo both finally managed to properly introduce the one and only .... Boboiboy Hatless! :D

I'd say they had a fair share of hiding it perfectly well. Cleverly teasing the audience to grasp 'Why the hell do they keep hiding his hair with that particular angle?' Because... If I'm not wrong, Boboiboy was one of the characters that falls in the same category with Upin&Ipin: limiting the haircut for animation efficiency during the first production.

So when his hat does let off, It is always an impeccable scene to watch. That trick never fails to amaze me. (like Professor Layton's hat case :3)

Now I wonder how much screen time his hat is off for the movie 3? I'm sure it takes a lot more than the previous one since his 3rd tier is pure hat off(and dyed hair).

If I want to say from my opinion. Movie 1 has its standout over Movie 2 and vice versa. Both have ups & downs yet they are equivalent to each other. For instance: the timing to add their theme song was a bit out of place in movie 1 so the latter fixed that, whereas the Fang and Ying banter in their language was lacking in movie 2 when the former had this iconic scene (sound on recommend) :]

Oh speaking of Music, my god their theme songs are epi~~~c

I remember how hyped I was when one of my fav local band, D'masiv, created a credits song for Movie 1 AND Galaxy season 1. But heck all movie themes in order are wholesome af!!! 'Masih Disini' - 'Dibawah Langit yang Sama' - 'Fire & Water' are in my repeat playlist recently. So overwhelming that I actually cried? The montage during Fire & Water played was not a sad moment but heck I cried because it's soo touching for no reason.

Oh yeah, I forgot it's a family movie so they have rights to not make any deaths scene. I can understand why yet I'm still disappointed.

I cried. HARD when I saw Tok Kasa collapsed. It portrayed emphatically well and worked for new characters that was introduced a bit short.

Then, not long after that, we got this

So... There's my review. Honestly I don't know what goes on for movie 3. It could be anything after season 2. But if I may guess...

It's between father and son now...

Dragons: the nine realms—final thoughts (Full series spoilers ahead)

Genuinely, I’ve become quite fond of this show over time. It definitely needed to grow into what it actually wanted to be, and with only 7 or 8 episodes a season it took half the show to get there, but even so I think it really found it’s footing as it went on—some somewhat forced-feeling team drama in the penultimate season notwithstanding.

In terms of the characters, I grew quite fond of Tom, Alex and Jun, and even managed to come around to D’Angelo later on—probably later than the writers intended though, haha. Eugene less so but they surprised me by giving him some genuine emotional moments , particularly in the last two seasons, and most of them hit right. It never felt like the show was just repeating what people already saw, Tom isn’t Hiccup, Jun isn’t Astrid, and D’Angelo isn’t Fishlegs. The closest direct parallel would be Eugene to Snotlout frankly, and that’s about it. These characters feel like their own characters, not a cheap attempt to continue the popularity of what came before.

Also, Alex is pretty autistic coded, but never confirmed. Jun kinda is too honestly. I appreciate that the things that we might call their special interests are never devalued within the show, both turning out to be incredibly useful many, many times. Alex is an introvert who spends most of her time on her tablet, and even as she makes friends and socializes more that never changes. Jun has interests many dismiss as “weird” and she has genuine trauma around being referred to as such that is taken seriously.

The supporting cast of parents and other crew members of the research station the majority of the show was based in or below were pretty strong, with even some much less significant cast members getting fun moments, and also add a nice sense of diversity to the world.

The bonds with their respective dragons also always felt well established and strong, and I was genuinely sad when the riders had to let their dragons go in the last episode.

Dr Sledkin and Buzzsaw as villains never hit the heights of Viggo in RttE but actually think I prefer them to the human villains from HTTYD 2 and 3—definitely liked them more than Drago from 2 at least. And i actually felt like Buzzsaw’s change of heart at the end of this final season didn’t come out of nowhere. We had seen, in particular last season, that he is a man starving for genuine connection, so when his dragon—the only creature, dragon or human that it could be argued ever genuinely seemed to accept his presence—was actually at risk it makes sense his ability to put up a bold front would crumble.

World-wise, while the titular realms themselves couldn’t be realized as the kind of beautiful environments we got from the films or even RttE, I think there was some really great usage of the modern day setting for the conflicts that drove the characters and the story alike. There was also great use of the established stories from the HTTYD series. Even though we as the audience knew a lot about Hiccup and co, imo they managed to make Tom discovering that history meaningful. He is a direct descendant of Hiccup, yes, the finale makes clear the fact that Tom being very much a blend of Hiccup’s ability to connect to Dragons and love of exploring and Astrid’s more blunt, action-focused impulses was always very much intentional. I think that’s a smart play, and the legacy of Hiccup proves a source of very compelling drama for Tom’s expectations of himself.

I’m also particularly fond of how the final two seasons really reconnected to the Norse mythology that has almost never been brought to the forefront outside of aesthetics by introducing the World Serpent who has a name I’m not motivated to look up how to spell right now. Regardless I think the way they tied the world serpent and ragnarok into the story was quite well done, and the built in fear of the world serpent being the reason dragons freak out at snakes is a fantastic bit of retroactive lore.

If these characters were brought back aged up, with a bigger budget for new stories I would watch it. This is by no means a masterpiece of a show, but there’s a lot to appreciate.

Btw, it’s not finished, but here’s a carrd I made for Tatake (some of the info I’ll probably change). The backstory tab should give you enough context to know about Tatake’s life:

Currently, the barebones plan I have for her post EW is that the Shifters go home back to Sylvane, never to set foot in Etheirys again. I’ll probably write it out at some point, but when Fandaniel finds out Tatake is one of the Shifted, he bruteforces his way into Sylvane, where he sends hordes of blasphemies to attack. The casualties are…really bad, to the point where the Shifted agree to cut off all contact with mankind once the Final Days are averted.

Now I haven’t done any post EW content yet, so once I do them I’ll work around how Talia goes around to doing that. Either way, I’m thinking to timeskip a year before post EW begins.

(I’ll make the timeline on the carrd at some point, but in my WoL-Verse, ARR to EW takes place over 3 years. As a frame of reference, Alphinaud and Alisaie turned 19 inbetween post SHB - start of EW. I’m too lazy atm to even figure out the logistics of the time bubble in SHB LOL)

Anyways that’s what I have in mind rn, we’ll see if it even gets executed in the end </3

— okay so pre-fusing the elytra is sort of. brittle. not fully but like regular durability you get in normal minecraft; it wears down after a while and this is because of a couple factors

1.) still adjusting to the host, hasn’t gotten the proper intake of blood and nutrients in its wings to fully sustain itself for the while yet so it’s trying to run off what it currently has (which tends to be very little resulting in them damaging over time if not fixed)

2.) it doesn’t wear down post fusion because the mutations and genes mixing in with the host lets it sort of stabilize by itself and become a part of the host entirely; once the “magical” properties of it are slowly simmering and is replaced with blood, skin, bacteria, etc (on that note the tendrils inside the host’s shoulder blades etc also sort of melt and become new veins/paths for blood circulation to take) (dont ask me how that works uhhh magic and minecraft stuff idk)

“Are the wings something you yourself can feel once they’ve fused with you, or is it more like… a neurological thing, where the elytra just know what you’re thinking?”

— OKAY when the tendrils slip in you’ll feel some generous amount of discomfort but pulling them out hurts more than letting them sink in

— new elytra users need a small bit of time to adjust to the wings and get a grasp on how they feel. its sort of different for everyone but at first it feels like a very strange version of pins and needles- you can move the wings around but it feels weird.

— although yeah the parasitic-ish parts of the elytra kind of do. connect with your brain (DIY lobotomy /j) in order to both A.) get the brain to move the wings around and B.) to do all the increased reaction time and instincts shabang (these stay permanently after fusion)

“Could you feel them as an extension to your body? If they get hurt, would you be able to feel it as if it were your arm or something, or would it be numb?”

- new elytra users get a numb sort of sensation when the elytra gets damaged via an arrow or something

- older (fused) elytra users get the similar sensation to the webbing of your fingers being sliced or punctured (owie)

- also at first they do feel like weird body extensions before eventually adjusting and them becoming literal body parts aisnfwidhfjfk

“If you run out of durability on fused elytras, is that something you could ever fix?”

— yes actually!! healing potions + usually phantom membrane is an efficient way of patching up deep wounds— depending on the type of wing it might just require a lot of healing potions and bandages, but eh its different for every user

— although if a massive chunk of those wings is like torn off then oooh. ouchie thats like having ur arm torn off. yeah that probably wont heal

^ — however . you can get fixes where they attach like a leather-like wing and hollow light silver(?) rods onto where the bones end to make a makeshift wing repair (leather is typically dyeable and able to be decorated)

— kkkkkkind of? the elytra by default looks like a weird mix of dragon and beetle wings all in one. good flight but also not infinitely durable like mentioned

— the shape of the wings, however, changes to fit the user from what the elytra can gather from their brain

(for example, Sage’s wings are based off night furies and peregrine falcons — fast speedy creatures due to Sage’s own history of enjoying fast speeds/being thrown or spun around and also from the lack of any fear of heights/falling)

— this is sort of tricky to answer because like. the elytra chooses what form of wings suits you best.

— mutations, though? Like having the elytra change from the dragon-beetle-ish look to having feathers and bright colours? That’s still achievable!! Theres even the possibility to mix and match different biological materials from the desired creatures however if you add in too many the elytra might like. kill you by accident or something (im talking more than like 5 or 7) (usually people opt to have only one or two main repair materials) (3 is teetering on the edge slightly i imagine because of like. neurological effects with all the mutations both physically behaviourally and mentally etc etc)

this also kind of raises the question of “how do you get bug wings” and i’ll be honest w u i have no idea. I imagine there’d be *some* strange way to achieve it? go ham many methods for elytra repairing

(Her way of flying is very similar to toothless in the first two movies. shes sleek and elegant in that cat-like fashion but she also does dive bombs and spins and rolls and is overall extremely confident, nigh cocky with how she flies. a lot of control too!! ,,,, most of the time has definitely crash landed several times) (not to mention speed,,,,, in certain situations when she picks up enough velocity you can hear a whistle coming from the air being sliced by her wings . no idea how to explain but you get the idea)

Apologies for the late response, I wanted to make some quick doodles for this at the least!!! It's so fascinating to me! A sidenote before I forget-- what do you think about rocket-propelled elytra flight? Would that be possible at all, or do we pretend canon isn't there for it? It's very silly to think of, but I don't think it'd be very safe, lol.

Here's a rough gif of how I think it might work! (emphasis on might). The 'elytra' (used to refer to the parasite in this sense) feels like a bug to me... like a palm-sized ladybug, sort of. Just the right size to fit on the small of your back pretty easily. Once you set it there, it'll like... pinch/hurt a bit as it sets in its initial veins & whatnot to connect to you, but it just chills there otherwise. I feel like for pre-fused elytras, trying to take one off would feel kinda like a tick? Gross, but hey

I also use "elytra" in the literal sense-- the hard, chitinous sheaths that cover bug wings-- here, so I could draw it in my head. I think that wouldn't be very comfortable to sit back on, to be honest, if you were in a high-backed chair or something. Anyways, like bug wings they'd unfold and the blood that goes through them would fill them up to full size like you said! It'd likely happen in a matter of seconds for long-time users, but take up to a couple minutes for first-timers.

I've also got a couple post-fusion drawings here, under the cut bc it's kinda veiny and a little gross, so if you're averted to that thing, look away!

Again, bonita drawing, but just to get it out of my head. The main "body" of the elytra would start to stretch down your back to get further up along your spine, where all the good veins are! Eventually, the body of it would be more vestigial than anything, because it no longer needs it to look for a host (do you think elytras in end cities would be able to wander freely before fusing to someone? Kinda funny to think of someone just getting like. hit in the face by a stray elytra buzzing around).

I do have this as bug in my head, because my brain loves making sense of things, so it's struggling to figure out how other wing types would work. I know it's magical, so whatever goes, but hmm... maybe the customization just comes after fusing, when the elytra doesn't need to expend the extra energy on needing to find a new host, and can instead divert it to making different, sturdier wings...?

I like the makeshift wing repair with lightweight metals or leather and whatnot, it'd be neat to explore that! Just like toothless :). Color & style customization, too! Do you think anybody gets wing jewelry or piercings just to show off? Like irl vultures with wing tags?

I wouldn't be surprised if long-term elytra users were hunted for sport if they had a particularly unique wing type... Wall decoration, for sure, I think hunters would enjoy them! Also good for food in dire situations, as human meat is probably a lot more gamey than any other available source. Feathers or membranes would also be valued for use in repairing of other elytras, in clothing, ceremonial stuff, etc. Kinda neat!

So the premise was that, y'know how in HP there's dragons and a couple are Scandinavian? Norweigen Eidgeback, Sweedish Shoetsnout. And Denmark has a magical government. Finland the personification also probably has some magic because of the whole santa thing, and just becuase tou can't see norway's trolls doesn't mean you don't know Hp magic cuz even muggles can see that stuff. So let's assume countries could see HP magic, just not always do it themselves. And i would hope they know about their magical governmwnts except maybe America who is in denial. Actually maybe Germany doesn't know either but you canMt tell me the Nordics don't know about theirs, not when Norway is right there and Iceland literally has A TALKING BIRD and can probably dk magic if he wanted to and Sweden is up in the air (i like the headcanon he's very much in need of a new glasses prescription) but i want to say he does because finland + isn't durnatrang somewhere up there and potentially in Sweden? And Denmark, well he's besties with Norway sooooo

Finland is filmin but soon joins Sweden on his Sweedish Shortsnout. Iceland will keep his feet on the ground thank you very much he does not like flying, when his whole thing is boats and water and fishing.

well before he knows it, the Nordics have a new paatime: professional dragon riding. And professional HTTYD-type fighting. Cuz wizards love old stuff like that.

Iceland just has to talk to each year, because five days = mornings + afternoons = ten slots for this little guest series and if they give years 1-7 one of those slots each and then some extra time for the COMC class and then pne more day for doing whatever like demos or stuff or in case of a delay, it works out peefectly! Iceland as the one not riding gets deemed "the lresenter" but its fine he leads tours of his home all the time anyways being in tourism buisness.

and anyways they're using Norway's usual ruse of "my name is Lukas Bondevik, heir of the Ancient House lf Bondevik" and Sweden pulls out his "my laat name is Oxenstierna" card whoch Denmark stares and gapes at. While sweden snickers, and Iceland just triesbto figure out s family tree to explain that one because seriously you guys one day the public will realize something's up idc if the both governments muggle and matic said it's fine-

anyways he always starts his spiel to the children with with "don't try this at home dragons are DANGEEROUS, yes rhe hirncolor is natural, and for the older ones "no i am taken i am not single" (he's refering to having a life partner in a bird as his one truest friend btw)

and iceland is just kinda done by the end lf it, cuz he's on the ground and the nordics are showing off more and more and finally on the laat day after telling everyone he doesnt fly for pwrsonal reaskns he loses it at Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland teasing him and oop now he's flying and the others are scrambling a little because it's Iceland that knows things the wizards want to know, and Denmark is trying to keep it together while Norway takes pics and Sweden is flying because kh gosh iceland gkt on NORWAY's dragon and Finland is laughing. Okay… I have something to say.

Fans of Tuffnut were shocked that in the third part he left his sister in a burning Grimmel shelter. They say that this scene is disgusting because it is not at all in the nature of a Ruffnut.

 I agree that the act is just a nightmare. But the fact is that…

  It's in his nature.

  I see hundreds of arguments from the rtte series being born in your heads, which it is impossible to argue with, but please let me explain everything. 

We all watched the same show, and we know that almost always the Tuffnut behaved, if not as an exemplary, then as an unambiguously loving older brother: he saved the Ruffnut's life and defended her honor, was ready to do anything for her. Naturally, when you think about all the cool moments between the twins, you can't help but start to resent how much the last movie didn't match that. But in fact, it wasn't the third part that didn't correspond to the show, and the series didn't correspond to the third part. 

Believe me, I also don't like all these conversations in the style of "rtte is not canon". I LOVE rtte, I LOVE the way the Tuffnut, Ruffnut and other racers were portrayed in this series. But we have to take into account the fact that Dean Deblois did not rely on the show when he created the third part. No matter how wonderful rtte was, not all HTTYD fans watched it, so there can be no question of any references to it (except the most veiled ones). 

Yes, the behavior of the Tuffnut in the third part did not correspond to the show, but it corresponded to the two previous films – the very basis of his personality: 

In the second part, Tuffnut never tried to save Ruffnut: neither when Eret shot her with a net, nor when Ruffnut accidentally slipped off the dragon (in the end, she was saved by Snotlout and Fishlegs). In the first part, the Tuffnut ran through it at all to escape from the Zippleback. 

And yet, this does not mean that Tuffnut is bad. It's just that we have to swallow this bitter pill that he has his flaws. Along with Hiccup's stubbornness, Astrid's arrogance and Snotlout's sycophancy.

So I was today years old when I found out that there’s lesbian rainbow dragons in a special of Rescue Riders: the How to Train your Dragon spin-off for notably younger kids (in which the dragons talk because the kid protagonists were raised by a dragon and thus understand dragon speech...though it's also probably a nod to the original HTTYD books where the dragons talk.)

So there’s this dragon species called Songwing which are colorful dragons with beautiful voices. Their song has a relaxing and hypnotic effect on other dragons and they use it for self-defense if threatened (the more mature Race to the Edge series included a little similar dragon called Death Song, but that one eats the dragons it attracts.) The Songwings always live in pairs they themselves refer to as “song mates.”

So one Songwing named Melodia acts as an antagonist in the story by hypnotizing dragons to stay with her and act as her friends and singing companions, kind of like some weird chill singing cult. But it’s revealed that she has lost her song mate and was hypnotizing everyone, because her species really can't stand loneliness. And then the protagonists help her to call for her mate and she hears their voices and the lesbian dragons are reunited and there’s a happy ending. Cute.

I really like antagonist(ic) characters with hypnotic powers, and it's a good way to create urgency in a show for young kids as it doesn't need to get violent. I also think Melodia makes an interesting antagonist, because her species appears to be naturally pacifistic (they normally only use their power for self-defense, even though they could rule other dragons if they wanted to) and while she isn't a vegetarian as far as I know her more flat-looking teeth and bill-like mouth give her a more harmless look.

And yes, the blue male dragon is voiced by Zach Callison.

I am more active on Wattpad and have more works there, so I'll be referring to Wattpad and not AO3; the only fan-fiction I have on AO3 is Keeper's Arena, and it's not as updated as Keeper's Arena on Wattpad.

1. How many works do you have on Wattpad?

I have three published. A Bad Batch fan-fiction, a HTTYD fan-fiction, and a one shots book for Bad Batch fan-fiction. I have multiple books (some non-fan-fiction ones, too) in the works.

2. What's your total Wattpad word count?

Quite a lot, that's for sure. To do the math for the three books I mentioned above, that's roughly 100,000 words published for readers to enjoy, and there's much more to come.

3. What fandoms do you write for? 

Back in the day I wrote Marvel (we do not mention my old fan-fiction *shivers*) and Ninjago (which was a tad bit better), but now I mainly write Star Wars (specifically Bad Batch) and HTTYD fan-fiction. I am invested in multiple fandoms, but I limit myself with fan-fiction in order to have time for my original fiction. Some of my original fan-fiction will remain "secret" until I begin the process of wanting to publish it, once I'm through with college.

4. What are your top five fics by votes?

I'm going to do top three, since I only have three published.

Just about 99% of the time, yes. It really makes my day! At the very least, I'll like it or will have seen it.

Well, seeing as Keeper's Arena is the only one finished as of right now, let me evaluate. I suppose it's a bit angsty, because the epilogue does raise new questions and concern. The final chapter, however, is mostly hopeful but with a hint of reality... that in life, you don't always get what you want. It mostly fits the criteria, I think.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Traitor Among Them will probably have a "happier" ending than Keeper's Arena, but I can't spoil anything. After all, Keeper's Arena may feel incomplete because I am working on a second book for that "series" that I never intended to make, lol.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Not really. I try to think outside the box to avoid that, honestly. I've had my writing read and reviewed by my siblings or by my peers or professors in college, and I would not call constructive feedback hate, because I appreciate constructive feedback in the sense that it builds someone up. I am prepared for hate, especially if I publish my original fiction, and am well aware that my writing doesn't always fit what is fast becoming "normal" in society, but I don't care. As long as I'm writing truth, the hate does not matter to me.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Absolutely not. I also do not read books that contain smut; I personally believe it is unnecessary and hardly advances the plot. I'm not a huge fan of romance books, either, but some romance can be done well, especially if the characters are acting in a mature manner.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

Occasionally, but not very often, and it normally never gets anywhere.

11. Which fic are you proud of but wish had gotten a bigger response from your readers?

My HTTYD fan-fiction, Traitor Among Them. Granted, it's not finished, but I am extremely proud of the plot. If you know anything about my writing, you'll know it's not a Hiccup/MC romance, either, which I see a lot of in Wattpad.

I don't think so.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I've never done this, but I think it would be fun to do, especially if I find someone who's as invested in a fandom as I am!

14. What's your all-time favorite ship?

Honestly, I'm not very good at this. One couple that comes to mind is Newt and Tina in Fantastic Beasts, which I re-watched recently. They're not an official couple, but they have the sweetest friendship (in the movie) and really could be if they wanted! There are plenty of couples in books and movies that are already a couple or eventually become a couple and are so sweet together, like Hiccup and Astrid or Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy (Jane Austen knows how to do romance right), but I can't think of any other not-really-a-couple-but-they-could-be-if-they-wanted ones.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I love my babies too much; most are put on the back-burner to come back to later, but maybe some original fiction bits that I started but don't have a full plot for.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Expressing emotion and detailing action (I've done too much research) and description. I also love making original characters with complicated personalities, strengths, and lots and lots of weaknesses. As for plot, well, I've learned to stick to a main idea and carefully evaluate the ideas that rush into my brain to decide if they're worth it or not.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Remembering to stay true to a character's personality through dialogue. Most characters should sound or talk in their own unique way, and it's so easy to speed through instead of saying dialogue out loud to make sure it makes sense. Also... editing and proofreading. I am not the best at grammar, though writers can break some rules. Finally, committing to a work I'm not sure about and getting through the entire thing before my perfectionist self attempts to hijack my brain.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

As in... my opinion? Well, if it's used sparingly. If it's a key phrase readers need to understand in order to make sense of the plot, it probably shouldn't be worded in a different language. As an exclamation, name, or even insult (that leaves the MC wondering), then it makes more sense and I don't mind it.

Marvel, many, many years ago. Again, we do not talk about my old fan-fiction *shivers* and I've learned my mistake, ok? Lol.

20. Favorite fic you've written?

Keeper's Arena. The MC has a complicated personality that is put to the test when the plot thickens, and it also follows basic story structure with the protagonist wanting something and the antagonist preventing the protagonist from getting said want. There's action, movement, and sad moments. It's a very non-traditional fan-fiction, as it could be a standalone without the fan-fiction aspects, and there is no romance, but I had a lot of fun bringing in some of my favorite characters from the Star Wars universe.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I've bounced some ideas off of fellow writers, but nothing official

14. What's your all-time favorite ship?

Oof this is a tough one. I really love Tech and Phee, but then there's also Pixal and Zane, Jay and Nya, and a few others. Right now, I'd probably say it's Gambit and Rogue in X-Men '97. It's so heartbreaking and sad but it's so good.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Probably Healer's Family–Modern AU. It's definitely something I want to write, but probably not until I finish my OG series

16. What are your writing strengths?

Writing how a character feels and how it changes the world around them. I also enjoy multiple povs.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Ending sentences. I dont care if its switching to another pov, ending a chapter, or ending a book. I hate that last sentence almost every time

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

The only other language I've written in is little snippets of Mando'a here and there, so as long as there's a translation I don't mind

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Ninjago, but I've been making OCs and AUs since before I knew what those are. I was very little. For TMNT 2012 especially

20. Favorite fic you've written?

Healer's Hands. It's the first one I've written with an OG backstory and a completely orginal plot with canon characters. I'm very proud of it and it has my favorite OC

Thoughts on TNR now that it's out? Personally, I really like it, though it's obvious this season is just to set up for the future. I wish we woulda seen more original species, or see the kids find old dragon manuals or cave art about different species, and have a character that's as destructive as the twins, but all in all, it's a pretty solid show so far.

So Impression/review time!

Yeah, It's good/decent. Not the "Omg Super good and unexpect that warrent it existance!!" but it's not bad. I think it's on par with the feeling I got from Rider of berks in its early days.(ROB early days animation is also rough like this) Albeit ROB has a leg up in being something we're similar with with the beloved characters. As well as having more episodes to extablished itself more instead of just 6. If you watch ROB because you love the characters of Hiccup and Toothless then I'm not sure how you'd feel with this show but if you like me and watch for the 'Meet Dragon of the week!" Type adventure. Then NR does scratch a itches good! If anything you can turn your brain off and watch it casually as another show. Should it in the first place tho? eh....Will I continue watch it and looking forward to future episode? Yes.

-Allow me to bring up Rescue Riders for a bit, but this is quite different from that show. While RR made itself pretty clear that it's it own seperate thing, a bubble that can exist seperately. NR make sure you know it's connect to Httyd. A lot of theme and leitmotif being reprise, Recaping Hiccup's Adventure in the first episode. For some it is a good thing, for some it will be a bad thing. For me personally, I think this is a problem that does happen to all most any spin-off in any franchise. The show feels insecure and doesn't seem to brave enough to stand on its own yet, reference particulary everything; Hiccup and Toothless sharing food, Saying goodbye to dragons, "This is for everything else". Of course this is just the first 6 episdoe. practically a pilots. I hope when it got more episode it will start exploring its own thing.

There's only 6 episode, 2 are the pilot two parter, 3 are the character introduction of the main gang and 1 is a dragon battle climax akin to a green death. Like last point, this seem over all like pilots and doesn't get a time to explore anything else or get to the meat of the story yet.

-The characters: Tom is a little bland but there're some endearing quality that differentiate him a little from Hiccup. I like how quick it establish who Tom is by the "Trying to tame a polar bear in the zoo" Backstory. As oppose to Hiccup who want to prove himself, Tom's just overly curious that end up constantly breaking rules and get into trouble, He also not particulary friendly or seeking out for friend, that job belong to Our astrid; Jun. Jun is a mix bag to me personally. I think she's too much like Astrid in being this courageous strong girl character but like Tom, there're quality that I like and differentiate her from Astrid too. for one she's a geek if that's the right word. She's like 'dragon!!! I have to tame them!' and like mention is the one bringing in friends more than Tom

My favourite out of the group got to e D'angelo and Alex. D'angelo you'd get an impression that he's gonna be the snotlout but he's such a sweet kid and just here to have a good time. Alex is very much definitely in some spectrum.

I also like the adults characters, and I like the healthy relationship between Tom and his mom

-Representation: Woooo this show has it all!, Autistic coded character? All POC in the main cast save for the main one? Disable Character? Canon explicite LGBT Couple!? you name it.

-The music: To me I think it's more memorable than ROB,DOB,RTTE music but that might be because NR is blasting it main theme every 5 sec, you'd know right away which is the main theme. it may get a little repetitive.

-The dragons: a section for dragon enthusiastic such as myself

Thunder: You know how I and most people feel about Thunder but I think I get use to it over time. Ironically despite the show animation not being the best, Thunder do look better in motion, a bit stiff but having seen him in different angle and sound is better than seeing him in still image in bad angle. Personality wise, I do feel he's too much like Toothless albeit a little more friendly.

Wu and Wei: I'm not sure I don't have much opinion on this dragon really. It's my own preference that I don't like two headed dragon or dragon with the face shape like Monsterous Nightmare, Timberjack, Changewing, Bone/Armorwing or Typhoomerang much. I do like the wing tho! not the marking but the way it shapes and connect to the body....hey wait a munite, it's the same wing as Zapplejack! The dragon is practiacally a Zapplejack! also. Todoroki's dragon.

Plowhorn: Still my favourite designs out of NR, seeing it a lot tho and I do feel it's a little more simple than I first though. like putting a beetle feature on something likely inspired by bluedog but I still like the face and the horn. Persoanlity wise she's like tougher less energetic version Meatlug. The meatlug is for that bullgod quality.

Feather: Feather is definitely a sleeper hit/Dark horse for me. To me and a lot of people she seems the most like RR dragon....whatever that means. But I end up really liking her. She's so cute and there's not a lot of intentionally cute dragon that works for me. I like the energetic overly curious can't keep still quality of her. She's like gecko! Got really cute noise and Mimic voice ability, heck yeah, parrot talking dragon! Feather my beloved.

Faultripper: ehh, sorry fam, still not a fan at all. It looks so generic.

TLDR; Good/Decent. Will continue watch future episode

Honestly they could be really cute together

I love the concept of Fishlegs realizing that he likes Hiccup and then proceeding to be incredibly flustered and awkward everytime he's around him

And Hiccups just clueless about it

They do the typical 'getting trapped in a small area with your crush' and Fishlegs is just dying :p

Overall could be a really cute and wholesome ship, but all of the fanfiction I've seen about them is smut soooo....

Itd be so sweet, none of them are interested in each other romantically, but they care about each other so much

They got so used to living together in the Tree Hideout that they all just move in together

Hiccup and Fishlegs are generally pretty snuggly and they usually just share a bed

Bith in part to them having PTSD and a bit of seperation anxiety due to the fact that they both though the other Died at one point

Camicazi has her own room because Bog Burglars are Though and Strong, but she will also share a bed with them from time to time

Again due to the PTSD

Overall, ah so cute, so sweet, they all love each other so much 💞💖💗

Hiccup/Thuggory 10/10 I ship it

Honestly this is a ship I came up with

I've never seen anyone ship them but think of the POTENTIAL

Thuggory was cool with Hiccup pretty much as soon as they met

And in book 9 he tells one of the other boys "See I told you, he's surprisingly cool"

He was sticking up for Hiccup just because

In book 10 he was the first to get the Dragonmark, standing up and agreeing with Hiccup in front of SEVERAL people who would have killed him for that

Awkward Thuggory trying to figure out how to ask Hiccup to go out with him

He asks Fishlegs to help him and Fishlegs is very confused but yes he'll help

It leads to a whole bunch of shenanigans where Thuggory it going what Fishlegs tells him and trying to be subtle about it but Hiccup does NOT get the hint

Eventually they end up alone together and Thuggory finally just Awkwardly and Bluntly asks him out

On top of that Thuggory seems like an 'I love my wife!!' guy

He would think Hiccups the cool one in the relationship

Some guy asks him 'Why he's with a loser like that', referring to Hiccup

And Thuggory just respond with 'Honestly he doesn't know, Hiccup really should be with someone far cooler that he is. He is indeed a Very Lucky Guy'

Overall it's got so much Potential guys, think about it, it could be so CUTE
