Eugenics is explicitly tied to the view of children as "things" that someone owns and controls, and until we do away with that idea, we can never be truly free of eugenics.

On both sides of the community, no one (hyperbole) can ever settle with a middle ground or have any sort of grey area. it's always extreme. it's always "thomas is the worst person ever & all of his actions r terrible" or "thomas is the best person ever & all of his actions are good", when in actuality human beings are complex and cannot be contained in one absolute or another.

Some TSS critical fans focus on things that absolutely do not matter or have the most wild takes I've ever seen. I was one in a sasi critical discord server awhile back and everyone was complaining about Thomas' posting his clothed ass on instagram ... he quite literally underpaying his employees. i think one of these is more important than what he does with his own body.

and the thing is there are some things that he does in regards to his body that IS weird, such as: why is he posting sexually as velma, a teen character, on his patreon which (at the time, idk if it is still now) is not age restricted.

but him posting himself in a spiderman suit where if you look REALLY hard you can "see his underwear" is not the biggest issue in the world. or him not wearing a dance belt in the same costume. sorry, but actually i think you're the weird one if you're focused so heavily on how his genitals look in cosplay! the way you guys talk about it is lowkey leaning towards sexual harrassment, and I don't know if Thomas has an opinion on it or not, but's its incredibly weird regardless.

just saw your anti booktok post from june 11 2023 and yeah. the way white authors write self-insert fantasies clearly for only white people. The way white audiences will eat it up because it has them as the mcs. the way fae fantasy/fairytale retellings only really focuses on white women. Hi anon! I assume you are referring to this post and yes, yes I wholeheartedly agree. There’s another post on here about the politics of escapism, and I feel like that really applies to booktok. Who gets to escape in fantasy? Who gets to read about characters that look like them go on adventures and fight monsters and ride dragons and practice magic? Who is included in their world? And who isn’t? Who is relegated as always to a servant, a competing love interest, a jealous ex, a side character in someone else’s story? Who can turn they brain off and ignore all the racism in fantasy and sci-fi—and who can’t because we live with that stuff day in and day out in the real world and it jumps out at us when we see it in our entertainment too?

And it’s so painfully apparent because whenever the same shallow writing is used but with a person of color as a protagonist, or even when the writing is solid and intense but a person of color is the protagonist, white people struggle to relate to them or argue they “have no personality” and couldn’t connect with the character (and even with side characters of color as well). For example, I recently read Blood Scion by Deborah Falaye and it was brutal and intense and a wonderful look into the psychology of child soldiers and how they are broken and what they will do to survive all from a fantasy perspective. But a lot of the (white) reviewers on goodreads say they can’t relate to Sloane, the mc, or that she’s nothing more than a cardboard cut-out who is ~traumatized~, or that the plot makes no sense, etc. The book is objectively well written, but it only has a 3.5 star rating on goodreads and people are much more critical of every aspect of the book than they are of, say, Sarah J Maas’s books when almost of these criticisms are even more applicable in her case. The double standard—the increased scrutiny of and disconnect with and dislike of characters of color—jumps out in booktok in particular because of how low the standards are for white-led and focused books and how much higher they are for POC-led and focused books. And for those of us who want to see ourselves in fantasy, it’s hard.

How do you feel about season 4

Bad. I feel reeeeal bad about season 4. LOL I hate it, actually-hate what they did to my boy.

Yes I'm always focused most on Five as a character, but I will say as a whole, the season is just...just a mess. They took away a lot of particular traits from the characters in order to sort of give this...shock value? Not sure that's the word, but in order for us to see how differently bland and miserable everyone's life is this time around, and to do that, they also just, sucked a ton of their characters out right with it. We also have no catharsis, no proper conclusion to the relationships and events of s3, and even though they carry that over, they don't actually give resolution.

The plot also just-and the ENDING-I...okay I need to round back to Five for a second. I'm going to ramble rant about Five for a bit PASSIONATELY so SPOILER ALERT AHEAD, don't read below this if you don't want to see me lay down a quick wall of text about The Boy:

It's not like I don't understand the 'why' of it.

Imagine spending the majority of your life in an apocalypse, eating bugs and learning how to harden your heart and kill as a child, all for the CHANCE at getting back to your family.

Throwing him back into that scenario is like...the mere THOUGHT of that makes me insane with all of the character exploration we could have had and then DIDN'T GET ANY.

Like I can't even fathom the sheer trauma he was going through once they got lost in that subway for more than a couple weeks. He's essentially in his personal hell all over again and this time it's without that hope of his family he had before. Of course he's going to cling to the one person who is there, of course they both would, it's been years. Trauma bonding exists and they both have a lot of it and yes, they are like with their rough edges and independence. So sure, I can understand the 'why' and 'how' of this happening (even if I hate it and it lowkey gives me the ick)

But we didn't even GET the character parts of that. We didn't get any trauma, didn't get any PTSD, didn't get any look into Five's mind and heart there in the subway. This really would have been a perfect opportunity to finally crack all of that wide open, because it's always been brushed off before. But nope.

Instead, an affair with Lila. A rushed sloppy timelapse and then they're a thing now and that's...it? Like the whole point of that was just for them to have this weird relationship and then they came back??

There's a time that he even SEES a younger version of himself in the same apocalypse and he reacts like he isn't even there.

This character who becomes lost without a purpose and is still searching for it, whose flame is uncharacteristically dimmed of the usual fire? Yes. I would like to explore that.

Like I said it's not even necessarily the issue that it could have happened in the beginning but it's his attitude after that really got to me. The entitlement he had to square up to Diego?? The entitlement he had to continue to cling around her when her family is there and the way he's acting...it's like it's just terrible to me.

When Five loves he loves with his whole heart, he devotes everything he has to the people he cares for but once upon a time that used to be his family and like hell if I think he would fist fight Diego for LILA. Diego his brother...Diego whose eyes warmed with such love and relief in the second season when he saw Five at that hospital. Five who sacrificed himself numerous times over to keep them safe.

I get the point is that Five is lost. That his family clearly can't give him what he needs and he's just in some ways given up trying for it. He's-tired and he just wants to rest and have something or someone that he can call his own...but that's definitely not going to be the wife of his brother???? rihgqoirgoais

I just can't swallow this attitude by him in the after bits-and I definitely can't come to terms with the fact that they basically planted him back into his personal nightmare and all that came from that was a rushed love affair. It puts a bitter bitter taste in my mouth he deserved this character exploration, he deserved to actually have his family go try and save him for once-fight for him-show him that they care as much as he's cared for them.

(There is NO slander being thrown to people who like this ship before or after s4, you guys like what you like and that's fantastic. I just have issues with the way it was all handled and I must rant passionately.)

It drives me kind of crazy how often I see you having to argue the same points over and over with people. It seems to me as if I should just be able to scroll your blog a bit, get a good idea of your feelings on things, and then know everything I need to know about how you'll answer. How do you deal with this strange, perverse popularity you've garnered? How many times do you think you'll have to tell people that an unborn baby is a person and entitled to all the protections any other person should be? Every other 'gotcha' and nice and narrow circumstance that someone could possibly ask about abortion should be a 'don't make me tap the sign' moment, right? Yes, aborting a child conceived of rape is bad because the baby is innocent. Yes aborting a child because the mother's circumstances changed is bad because the child has a right to life too. Yes, when you fuck someone you're consenting to the risk of bringing a new life into the world, and you don't get to revoke that consent later for any reason. I can't help but think these people keep trying to mental-backflip their way into a position where their beliefs aren't barbarically monstrous has to be coming from some feeling of guilt. At some point in their lives they coerced someone to kill their baby, or maybe they killed their own baby, and if they confront the idea that they took part in killing an innocent person they will burst into flames or something. They're desperate to try to convince people that they're actually a good person, that they're not monsters, and that they don't need to repent for the lives they've ended.

I'm convinced that most people are motivated by compassion, but it's so devilishly easy to trick and coerce people in misdirecting that compassion towards evil means. Change the lens and perspective on a situation and you can find someone gullible enough to believe what they're advocating for is good and righteous. When compassionate people are confronted with the notion they've been tricked and used for evil, I think they tend more often than not to break. They have to twist themselves back up into a deluded mindset to defend their minds and souls from the pain of admitting they were used, and in the process they only perpetuate more evil...

Anyway, I think you're great. The only thing we seem to be able to do with these people is to be a wall they can't break down or climb over. We have to be like concrete, so when they slam into us they only cause themselves pain. There can be no bending or breaking in the face of people that will take any sign of weakness as an indication they are right. If there's any chance of them coming back from where they are, then walls like you need to help guide them along the right path as they seek to slam through you.

I think you are pretty much right. Some of it might be guilt, some of it's misguided and warped "compassion" and some is just straight up indoctrination. That's why for the majority of them, once they make their initial argument they can't engage with you in an intellectual discussion after you challenge it. All they know is the line but they can't rationalize it because they surround themselves in echo chambers where they don't have to rationalize things. They're not used to engaging in discussion with people who don't just nod in agreement with them or don't accept what they say at face value.

And, like, yeah it does get a little tiring to have to say the same things over and over again when it's not hard to find my answer by taking a quick glance at my blog. I've literally addressed every single pro-abortion argument in existence at this point I think lol. But on the other hand I don't mind especially if it seems to be someone who I haven't interacted with before and is genuinely curious (even if it's something I've answered before) versus someone who keeps asking me the same things over and over again and is just completely ignoring my answer or thinks if they slightly change the scenario my answer will be different. And sometimes it's hard to differentiate between those two types of people lol.

For whatever reason, they just can't accept that there's never a time where you have to kill a baby. And that might be where a little bit of the guilt comes in. They see me and others say that and they immediately start trying to invent scenarios (some completely outlandish) where it's necessary to kill a baby. Because if they can't find an exception then that means they have actually been advocating for something truly horrible this entire time and none of them want to admit they've been doing that.

Hello, I hope this doesn’t come out as hate or anything, but sometimes you sound a little judgy when you keep saying that your MC has self-respect because she didn’t forget Ethan for leaving to the Amazon without telling her. And that’s super okay because it’s your HC(and your personal opinion), but there’s people who HC their MCs forgiving him even if he didn’t tell them and they’re also self-respected people who have a happy relationship and walk through life with their head held high. I don’t think they have to be mutually exclusive, and I think there might be people who wouldn’t forgive the things you put your pairings through (HC or not) and that’s also okay, it doesn’t take away anything from you or your MC. I'll start this off by saying both my feelings about Casey's reaction and my thoughts on if I'm being judgemental are, well, subjective. They're my opinions, and I'm entitled to mine as much as everyone else is to theirs. If someone is offended by my expressing my thoughts, to me, it says the reader is of the belief that their POV is the only one that can be right. Otherwise, how could a contrary opinion be offensive?

I never think anyone has to have the same POV as me, especially in the world of fanfiction where, really, none of this matters. It's not influencing policy, law, or human rights - it's fanfic.

Canon is murky on how Ethan left/if MC knew. All we know is he didn't contact them while he was there, so it's up to us to decide how we think it happened. Many have expressed moral outrage their displeasure over my thoughts on Casey not forgiving Ethan, and, honestly, not to be mean, but I don't care. I'm not forcing them to feel the same way; I don't judge them for feeling differently. But it's my HC, my POV, and I'll stand by it. In the same way, I hope they'd stand by theirs.

In my T/C world, if Ethan had shown he had real feelings for MC (he did), crawled out of their bed just weeks before (he did), told them they'd "work it out" (he did), and then hopped on a flight and without so much as a heads up, letting her find out like she was just any other resident, like she was nobody. Then, yes, my MC absolutely would have the self-respect to say, "OK, this is not the kind of man I want to be with. I deserve to be treated better than this." It's ascerbated by the fact that he would have months away to think about it and reconsider his choices. Did he even call and say, "Look, we can't be together, but I handled this poorly, and I owe you an apology." He didn't. So, at best, he's not emotionally mature enough for her. At worst, he's callous, and she deserves better. I won't back down from that. This is how I'd react. This is the advice I'd give my best friend/child if they were in the situation. (Oh, keep in mind this is in HC, in AUs - anything goes. lol)

Everyone has their own lines in the sand... for their characters and in real life. Some people find jealousy appealing. To me, anything more than fleeting jealousy is an unhealthy emotion that is destructive and indicative of a problem that needs correcting. To some, cheating is forgivable. To some, it's not. To me, it's not forgivable in almost all cases, but there are exceptions, and it's a very, very personal choice. Will everyone agree with me? Nope. Do I care that they think differently than me? Nope. They're entitled to. Their differing POV is not a threat to mine, and mine shouldn't be to them.

I read and enjoy other OTPs that are very different from mine. I'm not threatened by them. You'll never see me telling someone their idea is stupid or wrong. I'll never criticize them or tell them my way is superior to theirs (it's just different). I'm not going to tell them they're crazy or should seek help because they view a fictional character differently than I do. That's just crazy talk.

Yeah, I love that in my T/C world, Casey told Ethan to take a walk after he treated her horribly. If I see someone with the same POV, I may say, "Good for you!". But I'm not sitting here telling others, "OMG, You're such an idiot because you had your MC forgive him. OMG, she's weak and pathetic. OMG, you must need help if you feel that way." In a single post, you have successfully integrated sexism (demonizing men to be precise), transphobia, stereotyping and a complete lack of basic human understanding despite the original post literally spelling everything out for you and decided "yep, this is fine." But to actually counter all your claims-- yes, all of them-- it is very much dehumanising to call trans girls "biological males" in the same way simply calling women "females" is. Both completely strip the person down to their sex and nothing more. It's a term you use to describe anything, not just a human. There's a woman called Raven J. James on Medium that said it best so I will regurgitate her point: Let's say you said "I saw a female today". Well, a female WHAT? A female dog? A female duck? It's a word best used to described something, like "a female friendship" or "a female team". It's not a term you want to use to identify a person. That would be woman. The same goes for "male" as well. Don't call men "males" either. They're men. It's grammatically correct, but fundamentally wrong. Calling trans girls "biological males" is a different flavour of dehumanising. Not only are you stripping them down to their biological sex and using words to describe object and animals rather humans, but you also eradicate their gender identity in one quick swoop. Their dysphoria, their gender, all the things that make them them, discarded in your blatant attempt to widdle down their personhood as much as possible to paint them as a threat. These aren't "biological males", they're trans women. Someone's AGAB doesn't and should never determine their gender.

On to the next point that are all teenage boys are sexual predators, sex addicts and threats to their female peers. I don't think a lengthy explanation is really required for this one. You're just a man-hating loser. Not only does you argument imply that women themselves can't be predators, but it's a downright demonizing stereotype to be pushing on the opposite sex to begin with, let alone TEENAGE boys. Being a sexual offender has nothing to do with your sex. Whether you respect boundaries or not has nothing to do with your sex. Very brief (or I'll try to be), but homosexuality and transgenderism, despite both falling under the queer umbrella, are two very different things. One is a sexuality and the other a gender identity. Someone being trans means that their gender identity doesn't match up with their AGAB. If someone is trans, it doesn't automatically mean they're gay. Straight trans people exist too. So here's the scenario: Everyone in NRC was getting tired of reader's snarky attitude. And they all complain to Ruggie how reader is being a brat to them and begs him to talk her into being nicer. He understands and tries to talk to her later on. But, due to reader's very high ego— she doesn't listen to him and they begin arguing. With Ruggie having enough with her attitude, he snaps at her and ignores her for a few days. A spoilt rich girl like you who gets what she wants on her fingertips and a poor guy from the slums like him who works multiple jobs a day.

What attracted him to you was the way you treated him. You had a soft spot for Ruggie and you treated him like he was in the same financial level as you.

Many people were truly surprised how someone like you and someone like him were even possible, but they carried on with it.

Everything was going fine...until Ruggie heard a knock on his door.

"Yess I'm cominggg"

He opens the door only to find a raging red Riddle Rosehearts, visibly breathing heavily, next to his dearest girlfriend, who had a collar on, huffing in annoyance.

"Yes? Y/n what did you do?" Ruggie asks with a sigh.

"I'll see what I can do. Could you just please remove the collar? I promise she'll learn something." Ruggie asked.

Riddle hesitantly removed the collar, glared at you and took off. Ruggie invited you to his room.

"NO!" You pushed him off his own bed. He eventually had enough.

"Fine!! Get lost for all I care!! Im done sticking up for your spoilt behaviour!!" He yelled. You were shocked, but you just rolled your eyes, opened the door and slammed it shut.

The next day you were slowly starting to miss him. You go to your class corridors and see Ruggie there, looking sort of frustrated.

"HI wuggiee!"

No response.

"Wuggie?"

He didn't even look at you. He was on his flip phone, possibly ignoring you. He walked away to his magic history class, without saying a word.

'Is he giving me attitude?? Fine then!!' You thought. You grumpily walked away to your own class.

2 days passed since your fight and you didn't get any text messages from him either. Not any "I love yous". No "Good morning/Good night". The only response you got was 'seen' to your recent messages.

You wanted to talk to someone. You tried approaching Yuu to talk about this but they just ignored you(plus grim stuck his tongue out to you). You were finally understanding your mistake.

"Im sorry Ruggie" You messaged him. Once again, 'seen'. That was when an idea came to your head to apologize for him.

The next day, Ruggie went to class to find an envelope on his desk. He opened it to find some money and a letter.

"Meet me on the Courtyard at lunch. I need to talk to you about something. It's important so please be there."

Ruggie's first thought was that it wasn't you. Was someone was trying to confess to him now that he hasn't been talking to you? Did they also think money would help (it would lmao). But he decided to go anyways.

He went to the courtyard only to find you, sitting there. He was about to go back but you grabbed his sleeve.

"Im actually sorry!"

He didn't face you, but he stopped trying to walk away. You continued.

"I realized what I did wrong. I let my ego get the best me. I treated you like you weren't special. I know you didn't like that. Over these three days, I was so heartbroken and...and I felt so lonely. I fixed things up with many people by getting them something from the cafeteria...and I made something specially for you. Just follow me please?"

Ruggie turned to face you with a stoic face.

"Go ahead."

You took him to the woods and showed him a perfectly layed out picnic, with all of his favourites(which is everything that isn't rotten). Your man was drooling.

"I hope you like it." You said. The next thing you know you were being hugged and lifted off the ground.

"This- This is a week's worth of food!!"

"Really? For me this is only lunch."

Ruggie ignored your comment and snuggled onto your neck, giving slight kisses here and there.

"Your apology is accepted! But...please be a bit nicer. I'd really appreciate it."

"Alrightt! Anything for my Wuggie!!"

Ruggie just cringed.

"Look I missed you alot...but I really did not miss that nickname."

You laughed.

They ARE friendlier with the super adults than other adults cuz at least the supers are trying to do /something/. But they are on 'thin fucking ice' as the team likes to remind them.

And they have this horrible uncanny way if whenever one person on the team delivers a devastating verbal blow, they all(if theyre in the same room) stop what they're doing to glare accusingly at whatever adult has accidentally revealed how much of an irresponsible asshole they are.

One day a member of the team brings home a reporter and everyone is pissed because SERIOUSLY THIS IS OUR HOME HOW DARE YOU- why is that child wearing a fedora with a feather and holding a tiny dinosaur notepad? The girl explains she is a serious news reporter for the Wasatch Elementary Times newspaper. From then on they only do interviews(newspaper AND tv) if the reporter is a literal child(or teen). When adult reporters ask for their time they are liable to A. Not receive a response or B. Get brushed off in an indifferent way

They have an app for kids to report adults breaking laws. They mostly get reports about school rules being racist/misogynistic/homophobic/capitalist behavior (yes capitalist behavior is a selection in the app, but you do have to further specify about said behavior) and they help the kids organize walk outs and sit ins and protests and petitions. They give the kids all the tools and skills and financing they need to.

The gun control movement finally starts picking up momentum when a team member does an in depth presentation about how easy and ethical gun control would be and the tv reporter is quiet for a long moment and then looks from the last slide of the presentation to the team member and says in a quiet voice 'why won't the adults help us?' The team has asked and asked this question to each other, to adults and there are a million answers. And there's only one. 'I don't know.' They respond finally. Out of sheer exhaustion. 'Maybe they just don't care.' The reporter suggests, the look in their eyes is slightly disconnected. And then its not a reporter and a team member. Its two kids, terrified and traumatized, just sitting on live national TV, contemplating the idea that adults couldn't care less whether their own children lived or died. 'Its just that. At the end of the day.' The reporter says, clearly only barely keeping their composure. 'Their actions speak louder than their words.' The super kid presses their lips together and looks away. They knew that the adults actions are damning. Super kid just wishes they weren't. Couldnt just one simple wish come true? Just this one? 'I think most of them do care about us.' The reporter decides. 'They just care about money... MORE.' And to many children, that was as close to comfort as they would get.

You never know if you're gonna get a silly one liner or a lecture on poverty.

Hey! I don't wanna be rude, but shipping real people is unacceptable. I saw someone asking a question the other day, if you think Michael and David have ever messed around sexually. You said, you think they have. Really? Michael was in a relationship with SS at that time. I know they're no longer together, I don't why. BUT!!! David has a wife and kids! Do you seriously think he would cheat on his wife? Plus, Michael is with Anna now, and they have a child. So try to be respectful.

It’s funny, there’s actually a strange sort of irony to the last sentence of your message, because several people have mentioned how respectful they think I’ve been when it comes to the Michael and David/RPF stuff. Of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but what this tells me is that you haven’t read any of the other posts I have made under the #discourse tag, because if you had, you would know this is something I have addressed multiple times previously.

As a point of clarification, when asked if I thought Michael and David have messed around sexually, what I said was “Maybe. And maybe something didn’t happen.” They have had plenty of opportunities to be alone together and such a clear and obvious attraction to one another that it seems impossible to rule it out entirely. I also said that there is no way any of us can know whether something happened between Michael and David, because they’ve chosen to define that part of their relationship themselves privately, while keeping things delightfully ambiguous publicly. So like I said, I am not at all completely sure that something did happen between them, but it’s interesting that you seem pretty sure something didn’t.

Also, relationships are not simple things, Anon. Relationships are not all as black-and-white and straightforward as “[Person A] and [Person B] are together/married/happily ever after. The end.” Being in a relationship or marriage doesn’t stop someone from having feelings or attractions--that is part of being human. And people do cheat, Anon, all the time. But I never said that David cheated on Georgia. Relationships are like ice cream, in that they come in all different flavors and varieties, such as Polyamorous Peach and Open Marriage Orange. Sure, some folks prefer to stick with Monogamous Mango, but that’s not everyone.

If someone isn’t prepared or ready for pregnancy, they should not be having sex. I don’t get why that’s somehow controversial, but it is a fact that the only birth control that works 100% of the time is abstinence. If you saw the post from earlier, I had to delete it. There were things I forgot to discuss and things that didn't get saved into my drafts. Sorry if you have to see this again.

I've been WAITING to talk about Glee. Not in the good way either. There's so much wrong with the show, and it's sickening. Yes, I've watched the show last year. Against my will, but that's because of other people refusing to put on anything else besides Glee. I can say that I hate Glee with my entire being. (My initial reason for hating it was because they covered "SING" by My Chemical Romance and turned it into a slow, patriotic song when it's a song about rebellion. NOTHING about "SING" is patriotic. I hated the show since I first heard about it...for that very reason. I was like thirteen or so at the time when I first heard about Glee? Despite it being out since 2009.

Though it's been over for several years now, it's a show that many people have mixed feelings about. From what I've seen, you either love Glee or you absolutely hate it. There's no in-between that I've seen. (If you can't already tell, I hate the show.)

The show is a literal dumpster fire, the characters are all fucking awful people and all of them are poorly written, the script pisses me off, it literally makes me feel disgusting, and don't even get me started on the covers. Most of the covers aren't that good. A lot of them sound like nails on a chalkboard to me. The pacing of the show makes NO sense in certain areas (like when Blaine was initially made to be a grade above Kurt, but was then changed to be like the same grade as him so he'd stay). It just feels like everyone in the show is either a Mary Sue, a Gary Stu, their whole personality is just that they're from a minority group or they're EDGY AND HARDCORE DELINQUENTS BLEEEEHHHHH, creepy as fuck, bigoted as all hell, or they're just background characters who occasionally have the spotlight.

Let's start off easy. The characters. It's easy to tear them apart. At least the most problematic ones.

Rachel, the Main Character™️, is textbook definition of a Mary Sue. Instead of calling her Rachel, I'm gonna call her Mary Sue for the whole post. She's almost completely perfect (like too perfect), her flaws are minor if anything, she gets all the special treatment....you get the picture. When Mary Sue does anything fucked up or she says anything fucked up, it either goes unnoticed, people make up excuses for her being a shitty person, or it gets twisted so it looks like Mary Sue is the hero! (I hate her. So much. I cannot stand her.)

Aaawwww, Mary Sue didn't want some OTHER GIRL (Sunshine) to steal HER spotlight, so she SENT THIS GIRL TO A CRACK HOUSE. A FUCKING CRACK HOUSE, OF ALL PLACES. A PLACE WHERE THIS GIRL COULD HAVE BEEN PUT IN SERIOUS DANGER. THIS GIRL COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED AT BEST AND KILLED AT WORST. Yes, I'm aware not all drug houses are the same, but still. It doesn't matter what this girl did. What Sunshine did is irrelevant. It's not okay to send people to strange places where they don't know anyone, and are put in danger, even to the point of either getting injured or killed. But it's okay, because at least it's not an "active" crack house you sent Sunshine to, RIGHT, Mary Sue? You still sent some poor girl to a place where she could have been put in serious danger, even to possibly get injured or killed, all because you didn't want her to steal YOUR spotlight. You fucking disgusting, entitled, bratty cunt. You don't need the spotlight all the time anyway. THAT'S HOW THEATRE WORKS. YOU DON'T ALWAYS GET THE LEAD ROLE. YOU DON'T ALWAYS GET THE ROLE YOU WANT. There are other fucked up things Mary Sue has done, but this is the one thing I could find anyone talking about. If I remember correctly, she hurt her Gay Best Friend™️ Kurt in some way. All I remember is that Kurt was mad at Mary Sue about something. Mary Sue is annoying as fuck. What else can I say about her?

Next, we have Finn, who's textbook definition of a Gary Stu. I'll call him Gary Stu throughout this post. I hate this fucker too. He's the Main Character's Boyfriend™️, the Hot Quarterback™️, and The Good Guy™️. Yet....he's not a good person. He's treated like he's a good person, but he's really not. His flaws are fairly minor and excused (and any major flaws aren't even talked about much), he's almost completely perfect, and every fucked up thing he does is ignored or is justified in some way. Like how he outed Santana as lesbian in the hallway WITHIN EARSHOT OF EVERYONE. HE DIDN'T EVEN APOLOGIZE FOR THIS.

As a woman who has struggled with her sexuality growing up, this really brought back shit I went through. I "dated" boys when I was younger to cover up the fact that I'm only attracted to other women. I wasn't happy with these guys at all. I acted like I did so nobody would suspect anything. I felt nothing for them, except for in a platonic way. I've been outed twice. Once when I thought I was bisexual with a strong preference for other women (by my dad's girlfriend at the time), and when I came out as lesbian (by my brother). It sucks to be outed. The people who outed me in real life could have put me in danger. They could have made it so I had no place to go back to. They could have had me get hurt. It's a scary feeling. Like, it doesn't matter if you're supportive or if you're in the LGBT community. You don't fucking out people without their explicit permission. You especially don't out people to their abusers or to people they don't trust, let alone out them publicly. That's what happened to me. I don't wish this on anyone.

Or how about the fact that Gary Stu made fun of Kurt's voice because he's gay? Gary Stu apparently has ✨anger issues✨ and that's pretty much the excuse they use to justify him doing fucked up shit to people.

They treat the characters who are from minority groups (i.e., BIPOC, AAPI, LGBT community, disabled people) like absolute garbage, put them through all this horrific shit, or they put them on a pedestal simply for being in a minority group. The teachers and other school staff are either written to be total bigots (Sue), or they're total pr3dators (Mr. Schue, the school nurse, and another teacher who I can't remember her name off the top of my head).

Sue pretty much only exists to be a poorly written villain who's a bigoted bitch just to be a bigoted bitch. Yes, there were some things she WAS right about (like how "Blurred Lines" wasn't an appropriate song choice for the Glee Club™️, but Mr. Schue The Pr3dator™️ downplayed it). Other than that...that's all I can think of. Because everything else that came out of her mouth was bigoted bullshit. Like these right here, for example:

She boiled them down to their race, sexual orientation, their disability, and their appearance in general. Second, SHE DRUGGED, BLACKMAILED, AND DATE R@PED SOMEBODY. I don't think I need to explain how that's bad. The evidence is right there. Third, she said she was committing "sue-icide" by overdosing on multivitamin gummies. (Yes, you actually can OD on vitamins in supplement form, and it can cause serious symptoms and even death. Specifically with vitamins A, D, E, and K, and Iron. Vitamins A, D, E, and K are fat-soluble. They're a lot harder to remove from the body. The B vitamins and vitamin C aren't as severe if you do OD on them because they're water-soluble, but still be careful. You can't OD on vitamins and minerals you find in food. If you take supplements, vitamins, etc., only take what's on the bottle.) As someone who has su1c1d@l thoughts on and off, this is extremely insulting. Yes, I do use humor and I joke about my own experiences to cope, but this? Nah. Nothing about this is funny or cute in the slightest. Enough said.

Do I need to explain how fucking terrible it is to make light of a serious topic like this? It was never funny to see Britney Spears' mental health be at that low of a point in 2007. It was never funny to see the abuse the paparazzi inflicted on her. How the fuck was this ever okay? You can dislike Britney Spears all you want, but this was never it.

Daenerys Targaryen Rant

Look, I'm new to the GOT fandom and being on Tumblr overloads with you a lot of information at once. This fandom, is like the definition of toxic and for what? Ships? I have to laugh.

I'm only gonna address one thing but believe me, I've got a list so let's do this shit.

One thing I've noticed is the overwhelming hate against Daenerys Targaryen, for her cruelty and impulsiveness in some of her actions. In no way do I agree with all of them but I refuse to reduce her complex character and story buildup to that of a villain or a mad queen.

Daenerys has simultaneously figured out to be loved and feared all at once by her people which is fucking amazing. She was not born with the same training to rule as other highborns. She was not given some handbook on how to be the perfect fucking queen for the people and herself. She makes mistakes and acts impulsively but not at all times and the times she has, she's paid for them greatly and if she hasn't learned from them now, she will. Its trial and error with her, it's the only path of ruling and conqueror she has.

By no means do her mistakes outweigh her good deeds. Daenerys has done questionable things for her claim to the throne but honestly at this point, who hasn't? (Jon isn't aware of his claim so just don't)

She's not just some benevolent and perfect ruler who shows mercy to all and does nothing wrong. You wanna know why? Because that ruler doesn't exist. No real person is capable enough to do that because real people are flawed and since GOT tries to reflect real people in their characters, Daenerys is flawed too.

Those flaws do not make her incompetent enough to rule nor do they take away all that she fought to overcome and gain (screw anyone who thinks that shit was just handed to her, her name didn't mean shit. The Targaryens had been discarded before her and the name and entitlement can only get one so far, look at Viserys for example if you need to)

A lot of people want her to be more compassionate and empathetic with her enemies and people who pose a threat but why should she? Her enemies have never been compassionate and empathetic with her. Daenerys was raised with cruelty, she was only shown cruelty by all those who were supposed to love her which is why I believe she has no problem being cruel to those who pose a threat. It's all she's knew, the cruelty others for a very long time. As much as you wanna discard her backstory, its integral to shaping the person she is.

We have seen her ability to grow as a character and show more than the death and destruction that Targaryens have left behind. She cannot learn all the capabilities of a kind and good queen when she has rarely known kindness and goodness herself. But she is growing, her sacrificing a dragon who she considered a child of her own in an effort to help defend the north against the white walkers (without Jon bending the knee first) shows her ability to put people before her own political even fucking personal interest. (Another impulsive action that she paid/ will pay for and fucking learned/will learn from. Also can we acknowledge the fact that instead of holding animosity towards Jon for the death of her dragon like she could've, she empathizes with him and instead wants to help him destroy the night king BEFORE he bends the knee all while grieving her fucking child! Dany had no indication that he would bend the knee if she helped him, none. Yet she still wanted to help him destroy the night king and protect the north and it's people regardless!)

A lot of people have ridiculously high expectations of her even though when she started the show, she had no political experience, no good social experience, no military experience, no experiences one needs to rule. Yet she gained them (she wasn't given some wise person along her entire path to help her do it either) and she gained a council of people to advise her and that she trusts with her life to become a better fucking queen and to give her knowledge when she lacks it because she knows she doesn't know everything about ruling. She's aware of almost all of her flaws and she's worked to improve on them. She's not the second coming of Robb Stark (we all wish he was still here) but she is Daenerys motherfucking Targaryen and that means something and not because of her ancestry.

Do I want her to receive the iron throne? Fuck no. I hope its destroyed along with the wheel.

Do I think she doesn't deserve to be a queen? Fuck no, she's earned it.

So stop discrediting her and fixating on her bad qualities when there is so much more of her to see.

And for fucks sakes, stop pitting her and Sansa Stark against one another. They both are remarkable fucking women who have coped with terrible shit to become who they are and they're situations as rulers are rarely the same. Most of y'all are hating on one of them because she gets in the way of a ship and its pathetic.

Sansa helps protect and maintain the north as ruler and was born a Stark which means something there and gives her some kind of respect. Dany is a fucking ruler and conqueror and the Targaryen name held nothing but negative connotations of destruction, failure and death in GOT society before her, she is consistently judged by the sins of her family. She's not familiar with every land she plans to control but she wants to be, wants to be a voice for the people and those who are oppressed just as she was. Conquering and ruling a new kingdom and ruling a well established one that you grew up in (therefore she's familiar with customs, the people and ways of life in the north) is nowhere near the same thing.

I'm not discrediting Sansa, I love her and she's an amazing ruler but she had some aspects afforded to her that Daenerys doesn't.

I know she's got an ego but shit, if I had done the things she did and overcome the things she has, my head would either be too fucking big to fit through my front door or I would've offed myself before Dany gained her first dragons (I honestly don't know if I would've had the strength to get past that point).There is no question about her strength and resilience because she's got a fuck ton of it.

One more thing, after Jon bends the knee and she says "I hope I deserve it!" THAT SHIT! THAT NEEDS TO BE FUCKING TALKED ABOUT! Dany isn't as collected as she paints herself to be, she doubts her actions just as everyone does theirs but she does it in secret. She's just not in a position to be open about her insecurities and doubts which is why she doesn't show them to anyone. She's never really been. Dany has never had family who genuinely and unconditionally loved her like the Starks have their entire lives. She has never had the comfort of confiding in someone like they have or trusting someone the way they do. Even now, the people who love her mostly love her for what she can offer them and what she represents, not who she is. She's always relied on herself for that which is probably why she's not as open and vulnerable as people would like her to be. It could even be said without all she represents or her dragons or her power, no one would love her.

She's grown up without it. Abuse taking its place, she would have no one without her claim. The starks would have each others which is why I think she holds onto it and enforces so much. Her claim has given her people who love her, the things she can offer have given her the people that love her. That sucks but it what it is.

Her questioning her ability to rule, her insecurity shows that she will not let her pride and ego get in the way of being a good queen if she gains the seven kingdom. Just because she exerts confidence does not mean she is overconfident or stuck in the belief of her entitlement to the throne. She worries she will not be the queen the seven kingdoms need which is exactly why she could be. Because those thoughts will keep her vigilant and attentive to all the shit she's needs to get done once she's no longer prioritized with conquering.

And to address her motives, or what I believe are her motives, Dany likes power. Why is that a bad thing? For a long period in life, she was considered weak and powerless, a pawn for those with power. She knows what it means to suffer (the death of her family, her husband [Stockholm syndrome but let me not start because she did love him], her only child Rhaego, and her dragon who she loves like a child, being raped, etc.) She knows it and she will never allow herself to be powerless again, she will never allow herself to be weak (I'm pretty sure she associates vulnerability with weakness at this point) in the face of threats, potential allies and the suffering of her, her people or both.

Why is that a bad thing? For her to be powerful, because that's what she equates it with strength. Power keeps her from weakness and I think it's why she strives for as much as possible so that she will never know that feeling of powerlessness again and so that her people who depend on her will never know suffering at the hands of the powerful again. It's not because of her "selfish belief that she deserves it." She wants it and forced herself to belief she's entitled and deserves it because while on the throne, she can secure protection from those who would do the horrific things she's endured and seen with that power to those without it.

She may result to cruelty when needed but that does not make her an evil person/ruler (yes I know about the Tarlys who refused to bend the knee for her. She made a power move, seeing as there were witnesses and the men who witnessed could see her not delivering on her threat of death as a weakness and eventually try and move against her, and she killed them. Now they all know she means fucking business. Also the Tarlys betrayed House Targaryen and Tyrell and were responsible for the death of thousands of Tyrell men. This is all Daenerys know of them, why do ya'll just ignore that. You act like Dany killed an innocent or someone she had a strong emotional attachment to but that's not the case. Her action was a strategic, political move and they chose to defy her when she gave them a choice) It wasn't right but it instilled fear, she cannot rule with just love. You can love someone and still plot against them, if people fear the consequences of what could happen if they fail, it'll hold them back. She needs both fear and love to rule. Loved enough to fight for her, feared enough to not move against her.
