In honor of my best friend finally watching LMK, I’m doing a full re-watch with her. She only has season 5 left and I got a little behind, so I’m playing catch-up. I just finished S4 E9 and.

You mentioned family reunions were a little awkward with your celestial side, but now that you meet up with your father's side, do they treat you alright?

Well, I've only met a few of Father's brothers in arms from his reign. Uncle Macaque and Uncle Wukong are the only two I have any form of relationship with.

As for the others, we all know how my first meeting with Peng and Yellow Tusk went. Father is less eager to introduce me to his family after that incident, and I can't say I look forward to meeting more of them either.

I honestly think Peng's outfit is a bit boring compared to the others, I don't dislike it, but it's kinda hard to do much with they're body type since he's a bird demon.

(BTW, I used Erraday's (twt/insta) art of Yellow-tusk as a reference for his body type/pose because.. I literally cannot find any decent references for anthropomorphic elephant characters - at least none that fit my vision of the character)

I headcanon that it wasn’t death that made Macaque a scheming savage and a dirty player, he was always like that. But back in the days of the Brotherhood he was more shy and timid, which, combined with adoration of Wukong and (at the time) small figure, made him look rather harmless and sometimes naive.

But, sometimes, his true nature did shine through

I can go into details on why these bitches were the most toxic friend group to ever exist and I will

Not specifically someone's fault they were just really bad for each other.

-First of all we have azure who put unrealistic standards on wukong and put him on a high pedestal feeding into wukong already unhealthy ego and when wukong stopped meting those standards all hell went lose

-second we have the hypocrite bird acting all high and mighty and mocking macaque for being a "coward" when they're the biggest coward themselves running away when things get hard abounded both yellowtusk and azure in the end of season 4

-third we have the not so wise yellowtusk for someone so wise he sure supported azure delusionals from day one sure believe in your friends but it gotten out of hand and never realised it until it was too late to stop azure from going to far and becoming consumed by pain and anger

-fourth we have macaque the only one with a brain in the whole group that know actions have consequences the problem is that he doesn't like anyone there except wukong and he doesn't make his own decision and let people walk all over him and even after his fell out with wukong he still let the brotherhood make his own decision about wukong being with the pilgrims

-fifth dbk I don't know what to say about him he wasn't even there when heaven took wukong he just fell in love with pif and left kinda fucked up but good for him they were doomed anyway

-and last but not least the most unhealthy self-destructive mf in the whole world sun wukong what can I say about him from his unhealthy ego that covering up his insecurities and fears to him being impulsive and not listening to reason and being the biggest people pleaser known to god he wanted to be loved and accepted so badly and live without fear of death and lost himself doing it

For the longest time when I've rewatched The Plan Man and got to the scene where Peng is reassuring Azure, I always joke, "Oh, goddammit, Peng stop enabling him!"

But that's the thing. They're literally not doing that.

Their exact words to Azure were:

"Don't spare another thought on them, brother. Let Wukong and his little friends play at being heroes—"

They're telling him to ignore Wukong and the rest of the Monkie Kids, not the other way around. But this backfires because any mention of Wukong in any shape or form at this point would've set Azure off. This should've been made obvious to Peng when he said a second before:

"the Monkey King, the boy... they weigh on me."

But alas, Peng has zero tact.

And by this point, you may be wondering, "What am I exactly getting at here?" Well, of course, it's that Peng is a dumb jock that just wanted to cause a little mayhem and hang out with their friends.

Now onto my points.

Why Peng is even part of the Brotherhood?

Peng is the clear outlier when you look over the rest of the brotherhood's members. So, why are they even here? The easiest conclusion I could come to, they wanted to kick ass and ask questions later. And do it with a crew of people they view as just as strong as they. Leading me to my next point.

What can I say? Peng's pretty damn loyal. They've had Azure's back for centuries! Because you have to remember here. Peng meant Azure in the Celestial Realm, followed him into the brotherhood, stuck around after their rebellion, then WILLING joined back with him after being imprisoned in a torture scroll FOR A THOUSAND YEARS. The bird was committed. Speaking of which...

Commits to the Bit

When Azure becomes the Jade Emperor, Peng bows, even though they sound and look visibly unsure about this.

We later see Peng kick back and drink wine while disregarding the world literally tearing apart at its seams.

Then, as Yellowtusk is scolding Azure on this very matter, Peng attempts to make him stop, but he snaps at them, which leads to Peng looking to Azure.

After which Peng fails to read the situation (already talked about this above), and Azure teleports them all to FFM, and this is the next time we see them:

Because Peng said, "Fuck it, we ball."

Baby MK meets the brotherhood

As I said Azure Lion would love to meet lil MK, and Yellowtusk would too. Yellowtusk wouldn’t volunteer to watch MK but he’d be that uncle that would bring him little gifts or money whenever he saw him. Peng doesn’t like little MK, and little MK doesn’t like Peng. The feelings are mutual and they keep their distance from one another.
