Sergio Sorrentino “A Superb Musician” (The Wire)

Sorrentino is acclaimed as “the best concert music electric guitarist” (Il Manifesto) and “one of the most important contemporary guitarists” (RAI Radio Tre).

As a performer he promotes the classical guitar and electric guitar contemporary repertory. As a composer and improviser his music is based on sonic research and combines elements of contemporary classical music, minimalism, avant-garde, ambient, experimental. His CD Dream - American Music for Electric Guitar (Mode Records), which includes works by Feldman, Cage, Wolff, Curran and others, was reviewed and highlighted in the New York Times by Seth Colter Walls as one of the “Week’s Best Classical Music Moments”, defining the album “of disarming beauty”.

Philip Glass published Sergio Sorrentino’s video performance of “Orphée’s Bedroom” and “Opening” on his official channels for the #glassminutes series. Orange Mountain Music released “Orphée’s Bedroom” and “Opening” as Singles on all digital platforms earning a lot of success.

Sergio plays with the great Gavin Bryars (“Sergio Sorrentino has performed many of my works for guitar, and also my ensemble pieces that include the guitar and I have the greatest admiration for his work in this respect”) as a member of the Gavin Bryars Ensemble and he plays live and in studio with Elliott Sharp, Magnus Andersson and John King.

He released a duo album with Gavin Bryars (Gavin Bryars: Electric Guitar Works”), where he plays some world premiere recordings together with the great English composer.

With the legendary American guitarist Loren Connors, Sorrentino released “Shadow”, album based on improvisations for two electric guitars.

He has worked with important composers and musicians like Christian Wolff, Alvin Curran, John Russell, Machinefabriek, David Lang, Steven Mackey, Usui Yasuhiro, Scott Fields, Loren Connors, Tim Brady, Paul Lansky and many others. Van Stiefel wrote for him “Bound” - Electric Guitar Concerto for electric guitar and orchestra. Sergio’s recording of David Lang’s “Questionnaire” has been highlighted in the Bandcamp New and Notable section and it has been included by the historian Ted Gioia in his Top 100 Recordings of 2021. As a soloist, Sergio Sorrentino started his international concert career very early and has held solo concerts and master classes in many important festivals and venues (like Yale University, Sprague Hall in New Haven, Spectrum in New York, Festival de Música Contemporánea de La Habana in Casa de Las Américas, Cuba, Italian Cultural Institute of Paris, Sala Biala of the Wilanow Museum (Warsaw, Poland), International Guitar Research Conference/University of Surrey (UK), Vortex in London, Performance Room of Luxembourg, Filharmonia Gorzowska Concert Hall, ON Cologne Neue Musik Festival, In Situ Art Society in Bonn, Specktrum in Berlin, Nuova Consonanza Festival in Rome, Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte di Montepulciano, AngelicA Festival of Bologna, etc.).

He wrote the first book ever written about the concert repertoire for electric guitar (“La Chitarra Elettrica nella Musica da Concerto”, Arcana Edizioni) and several other books and articles about guitar history. He is Guitar Professor at the Conservatory of Cosenza.

JD Zazie is an experimental DJ, avant-turntablist, sound artist and curator based in Berlin.

Coming from a DJ and a radiophonic background JD Zazie has explored different approaches to real-time manipulation of fixed recorded sound. In her work she redefines DJ and electroacoustic activities. As a solo performer, in small groups, and in large ensembles, she works in an area which is constantly stretching the borders of what could be defined as DJ mixing, free improvisation and composed music. 
She is a member of Reanimation Orchestra, plays regularly solo and duos with Heidrun Schramm and with Henrik Munkeby Nørstebø.

She is the art director of the MuseRuole - women in experimental music festival,  a member of the Burp Enterprise collective and broadcasts monthly on Colaboradio and on Reboot.fm.

I played the guitar to the fullest and realized live broadcasting after a long time.

The concept that I say that the distance is considered though Ray Nakazawa gives a performance during infection expansion of new-style coronavirus this time. The participatory type performance which is while keeping the distance by 2 meters of red rubber string.

It's discussed about limited visitor and during infection prevention and distance. I participate in On-line live broadcasting. The contents are an exception, but 2 stages are being delivered in Orbitallink in YouTube.

Nälkäiset hyönteiset ja lisääntyvä hyönteismäärä vaikuttavat maanviljelyyn negatiivisesti ilmaston lämmetessä

Maailmanlaajuisesti tarkasteltuna joka yhdeksäs ihminen kärsii kroonisesta nälästä. Samanaikaisesti keskimääräiset globaalit pintalämpötilat ovat kohonneet ja niiden odotetaan nousevan 2-5 astetta tämän vuosisadan aikana, millä on negatiivisia vaikutuksia globaaliin maataloustuotantoon. Huomattavista kasvinsuojelutoimista huolimatta noin kolmasosa sadosta menetetään tuhohyönteisten, kasvitautien ja rikkakasvien takia. Yksin hyönteiset kuluttavat nykyoloissa 5-20 prosenttia tärkeimpien ravintokasvien tuottamasta sadosta. Miten ilmaston lämpeneminen vaikuttaa näihin satotappioihin maailmanlaajuisesti? Science-lehdessä tutkijat (Curtis et al.) arvioivat maapallon keskimääräisten pintalämpötilojen vaikutusta hyönteisten aiheuttamiin vehnän, maissin ja riisin satotappioihin. Nämä viljelykasvit tuottavat 42 prosenttia ihmiskunnan kuluttamasta ravinnon energiasta (kaloreista). Tutkimuksen tulosten mukaan hyönteisten aiheuttamat satotappiot lisääntyvät huomattavasti maapallon lämmetessä. Aina globaalin keskilämpötilan noustessa yhdellä celsiusasteella satotappiot lisääntyvät 10-25 prosenttia. Vehnän sato vähenee kaikkein eniten. Tällä hetkellä hyönteiset syövät kuvaannollisesti joka kahdeksannen leipäviipaleemme ennen kuin leipä edes päätyy pöytäämme. Mikäli maapallo lämpenee keskimäärin neljä astetta, hyönteiset syövät jo kaksi kahdeksasta leipäviipaleesta. Tällainen ruokahuollon epävarmuus voi kärjistää erilaisia konflikteja. Ilmastonmuutoksen myötä suurimmat satotappiot koetaan sellaisilla alueilla, joilla sekä hyönteisyksilöiden määrä (populaation koko) että hyönteisten aineenvaihdunta ja siten myös ruokahalu lisääntyvät. Näin käy erityisesti lauhkealla vyöhykkeellä (esimerkiksi Yhdysvalloissa, Länsi-Euroopassa ja osin myös Kiinassa), jossa pääosa maailman viljasta kasvatetaan. Lämpimässä hyönteisten lisääntymiskierto nopeutuu tiettyyn rajaan asti, joten hyönteiset tuottavat enemmän jälkeläisiä. Tropiikissa vaikutukset kuitenkin ovat lauhkeaa vyöhykettä pienemmät, koska lämpötila on tropiikissa jo ennestäänkin lähellä lisääntymisen optimilämpötilaa. Tropiikissa viljeltävän riisin satotappioiden lisääntymistä pienentääkin hyönteisten optimilämpötilan ylittyminen. Tämän uuden tutkimuksen tulokset ovat vieläkin huolestuttavampia kuin vuosi sitten julkaistussa tutkimuksessa (Chuang et al.). Sen mukaan jokainen asteen lämpeneminen vähentää vehnäsatoa 6,0 ± 2,9 prosenttia, riisisatoa 3,2 ± 3,7 prosenttia, maissisatoa 7,4 ± 4,5 prosenttia ja soijapapusatoa noin 3,1 prosenttia. Alueellinen satotappioiden vaihtelu on kuitenkin suurta. Esimerkiksi Intiassa riisisato pienenee aina 6,6 ± 3,8 prosenttia, kun globaali keskilämpötila nousee asteella. Globaalisti tutkittujen viljelykasvien sadot pienentyvät vuosisadan loppuun mennessä pienellä kasvihuonekaasujen päästöskenaariolla (RCP2.6) keskimäärin 5,6 prosenttia ja suurella päästöskenaariolla (RCP8.5) 18,2 prosenttia. Tutkijoiden mukaan satotappiot tulevat kuitenkin suuren päästöskenaarion (RCP8.5) mahdollisesti toteutuessa olemaan arvioitua suurempia, koska todellisessa maailmassa ja myös simulaatioiden mukaan suurempi lämpeneminen aiheuttanee suuremmat vaikutukset kuin vain parin asteen muutos. RCP8.5-skenaariossa kasvihuonekaasupäästöt jatkuvat nykyiseen tahtiin ja maapallo lämpenee lähes neljä astetta vuosisadan loppuun mennessä. Todennäköisesti epärealistisen toiveikkaassa RCP2.6-skenaariossa kasvihuonekaasupäästöjen hillintä kääntää globaalit päästöt selvään laskuun jo vuoden 2020 jälkeen ja ne päätyvät lähes nollatasolle vuosisadan lopulla, jolloin lämpeneminen jää alle kahteen asteeseen. Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin vain lämpötilan muutosta, mutta sen lisäksi todellisiin satomääriin vaikuttavat negatiivisesti myös sateisuuden muutokset (erityisesti kuivuuden lisääntyminen) ja positiivisesti hiilidioksidin kasvua lisäävä vaikutus (ns. hiilidioksidilannoitus), mikäli ravinteita on saatavilla riittävästi. Vaikka lisääntynyt hiilidioksidi voikin toimia kasvua nopeuttavana lannoitteena, toukokuussa julkaistun tutkimuksen (Chunwu et al.) mukaan hiilidioksidilannoituksen myötä nopeasti kasvaneiden kasvien ravintoarvot heikkenevät merkittävästi. Esimerkiksi riisillä, joka on maailmalla merkittävä ravintokasvi, sekä proteiini-, rauta-, sinkki- että vitamiinipitoisuudet pienentyvät. Vastaaviin tuloksiin on päädytty aiemminkin (Myers et al.). Ilmastonmuutokseen sopeutuminen edellyttää maanviljelijöiltä vuosirytmin muuttamista (esimerkiksi erilaiset kylvöajankohdat), uusien lajikkeiden käyttämistä ja entistä tehokkaampaa tuholaistorjuntaa vaikkapa viljelykierron (vuoroviljelyn) tai aiempaa suurempien myrkkymäärien avulla. RYORCHESTRA are bold enough to improvise in somewhat violent way while playing their own elaborately composed songs and they dare to do that even on stage. Their music shows good contrasts between construction to destruction, discipline to disorderliness, life to death or whatever opposite things comes up to one's dualistic mind.  Group's leader Ono Ryoko cuts up the songs in the middle of them and conducts other members by using cards on each of which one word is written in Japanese character like "轟LOUD","静SILENT","速FAST","遅SLOW","無NO SOUNDS" and etc. Ryoko composes most songs , sings, and plays keyboards ,saxophone and flute . The lyrics are all written by her in her own language "Ranguage" and this may people remind of MAGMA or RUINS.Actually Ryoko often plays with RUINS' drummer Yoshida Tatsuya and he once played in RYOCHESTRA in '07.  They call themselves as "Progressive-Impro-Rock band" and so far played several shows in Nagoya and Tokyo.  A variety of Nagoya resident musicians are members of RYOCHSTRA. Usui Yasuhiro is a well-known improviser and plays with many free-jazz /avant-garde artists like Elliot Sharp ,Satoko Fujii and etc. He also plays in Shibusa-Shirazu and Flyline which is a guitar duo with Kei,another guitarist of RYOCHSTRA.  Kei once played in a super-loud experimental rock group named "HANADENSHA" in Osaka for nearly 10 years. Lately he's been working with many types of music/musicians. Both Usui and Kei are running each cd labels named BAKAMO-records and COUP label. Kei and vocalist Sayuri Nishimoto are from acoustic duo names ett . They have three cd releases and on the latest one Ryoko plays saxophone. Sayaka Shiraki,another vocalist of orchestra sings jazz/pop tunes in local bands. She sings mostly the lower part in RYOCHESTRA and shows powerful performances. Bass player Yasutomo Ishigaki also plays jazz, funk and sometimes pop/rock music in other bands.Among them "next order " has just released a cd . He teaches music and bass-guitar playing in Nagoya. Drummer Masayoshi Awano is also a music teacher and plays many types of music like as Ishigaki.Though Awano is youngest among group's members, he's suspected to be an alcoholic. What makes thus musically-different musicians together is a love of music and a sense of humor. ..
