Honestly I'm tired of this take, not because it's untrue, but because it's still missing the point. No one, regardless of how many hours they work, should be deprived of food, housing, medical care, clean drinking water, education, ECT. We shouldn't have to give up 40+ hrs of our week to survive! If we fixed the system, made sure everyone could survive, made sure everyone was cared for regardless: people would still work! Maybe not as many hours and maybe not in the same field they currently do, but people would still work! People would still have passions and things they wanted to do to make sure the world functioned and innovations would still be made! People have and will always work regardless of capitalism! Capitalism has not existed "since the beginning of time", and people still accomplished things! We need to stop trying to figure out how to make capitalism more liveable and start figuring out how to dismantle it completely. Capitalism only works if there is growth forever, and that's not sustainable. Capitalism only works if 1% of people are exploiting, stealing resources, and stealing the majority of value that your labor provides. I have talked to a lot of people recently that fully understand that this system is failing, but they will still argue against universal health care, universal basic income, increasing the federal minimum wage, ECT, and it's infuriating because they are SO close to the point and STILL missing it.

Okay, my question though: why can a mountain be called one thing for a long time, get changed to another, go back to the original, then get changed back to the other thing again, but for some reason using my pronouns and the name I chose for myself over 10 years ago is off the table? I don't want to be paranoid, but is the word "non-conformist" censored on Google. First scroll through is just connected to wifi, screen shot when connected to VPN set to Germany. Search was "what is a person who doesn't want to like the same things as other people" because of a silly conversation Involving the definition of "hipster". But now I'm a lil stressed. Also...I haven't searched anything about relationships or nonbinary people so the search results are a little confusing as well. I know Google is broken...but 😬

Digital Art Infinate Painter

My fiance has nightmares. It really sucks for them. They rarely seem to feel rested, and mornings are rough. I often wish I could do more to help. The reference pic I used was one of the first pics I took of them. We have been together just over two years now and so much has changed. I think they have more trauma. We have been through so many bad life situations together at this point. I guess this really just represents how I wish I could have prevented every bad situation. Maybe they would sleep better. Maybe we just need a better mattress. Who knows.

I think I'm trying to block out TheHorrors™️ with hobbies. In the last week I have spent hours and hours on digital art, embroidery, and regular sewing. I am sewing my rats a hammock. I don't know if full blown escapism is the way to go but here we are.

I want to tell a story to the artists and would-be artists out there.

When I was 19, I made a large oil painting of the nerd I would eventually marry. I poured all my attention and care into this painting. It's the only art I have from back then that still holds up as a work I'm proud of today.

I entered it into a judged show at the local art center. It got an honorable mention. I went to see the show with my beloved model. One of the judges came up to talk to me, and highlighted that all the judges really liked the painting. It would have placed, except, you see, the feet were incorrect. They were too wide and short, and if I just studied a bit more anatomy-

I called over my future wife, and asked her to take off her shoe. Being already very used to humoring me, she did. The judge looked at her very short, very wide little foot. Exactly as I'd lovingly rendered it. I would never edit her appearance in any way.

The judge looked me in the eye, and to his credit, he really looked like he meant it when he said "Oh I'm so sorry."

Anyways the moral of the story is that all of those anatomy books that teach you proportions are either showing you averages, or a very specific idea of an idealized body. Actual bodies are much more varied than that.

So don't forget to draw from observation, and remember that humans aren't mass produced mannequins. Delight in our variation. Because it's supposed to be there.
