Shut up this is literally the vulcan version of those movies scenes where one of the main characters impulsively kisses their love interest/partner bc:
Their realized they are very much in love with that person
Pure relief of seeing their loved one after a hardship (like in this case)
A passionate moment full of desperation and neediness
And the other person is surprised at first but then corresponds the kiss equally or even harder "Kirk returned the pressure and brought his other hand to cover Spock's". And ofc there must be the third wheel. In my mind is like "McCoy looked his astonishment as Spock and Kirk are unashamedly making out"
Idk once you know how Vulcans actually kiss and the whole touch telepathy thing it feels like all these type of scenes were written to seem just like a normal touch between friends (which is not something bad we need more male healthy friendships), but hide kiss moments that at the time were not allowed in the books or TV shows/movies.
I love this whole scene so much and a kiss would make so much sense bc Spock is realizing how illogical Kolinahr would have been since Vejur only has logic but no emotion which makes everything useless and the first person he sees is Jim, the person who he kept thinking about before the ceremony, his T'hy'la and who he'll miss dearly, and everything clicks in Spock's mind and his first instinct is to laugh and hold Jim's hand in pure joy
Fuck "This simple feeling is so far beyond Vejur comprehension" this little moments are what really get into me.
