Yingxing has his own private forge in the manor so he can work on his own things and also so he wouldn't have to stay in the Artisanship Commission all day to work on things. The problem is that now his commute from his home to a forge has been cute, he can spend more time on personal projects.

He becomes a ghost, just meandering the halls for food and water before returning back to his work. He is gone for so long that Yanqing misses him. He's also a bit scared since his father looks like he died inside.

Yanqing would absolutely go running to the other two about it. He's too young to understand what's actually happening to his dad but something is wrong and he doesn't like it. Dan Feng is displeased due to his inability to take care of his health but also the distress it is causing Yanqing. Jing Yuan is more concerned as to the lack of care Yingxing is participating in. While Yanqing just wants his Baba to get better and play with him again.

Yanqing waited patiently at the door for what has been 30 minutes now. In his hands was his white lion plushie sporting a very noticeable tear on its ear, a result from a play fight with Mimi. On the other side of the door was his father's private forge- a place for the Furnace Master to pursue his private projects. Yanqing was never allowed in without permission lest his father accidentally pour molten near him or accidentally harm him with tools of the trade.

He had knocked quietly to request his father's aid and was told to stand outside quietly for a bit as his father cleaned up the forge. Yingxing had looked tired and a bit frazzled. His usually neat hair was knotted and messy and he had bags under his eyes. So engrossed in a project after getting his hands on some rare materials, he had forgone daily care and even the pleasures of life. He ate when his stomach growled louder than the sound of his hammer and he drank when he would develop pounding headaches and his vision would get blurry. He would sleep on his chair so that he may continue his work when the sun rose.

Yanqing was quite distraught upon laying eyes on his father. He hadn't seen him in a week and a half and did not dare to call for him, not wanting to disturb his important work. So there he stood until 10 became 20 which became 30. His feet started to hurt and he couldn't help but feel upset. Did he forget about Yanqing?

Yanqing wanted to go and knock again, but he was always warned about disturbing his father in the forge. So he settled for the next best option. Running down the courtyard, he made his way to the archives where his other 2 fathers engrossed themselves in a book that was gifted to them.

Walking up to Jing Yuan, Yanqing tugged on his clothing in an attempt to get his attention.

"Yanqing? What are you doing here?" Jing Yuan picked the child up and put him on his lap.

"Baba is really busy. I asked him to fix my toy and he made me wait outside for a long time."

"Oh, did he now? Doesn't he know its wrong to make Yanqing wait at all?" Jing Yuan teased before tickling his son, causing the boy to squirm.

"But I haven't seen Baba in forever and when I saw him, he looked really scary?" Yanqing exclaimed.

"Scary?" Dan Feng inquired

"Mhm, he looked like a zombie! Like those monsters in that movie you watched!"

"I see. Do you miss Baba?" JIng Yuan asked.

"Yes! Baba hasn't played with me in a long time." Yanqing said leaning into his father's hold as he observed the High Elder exchange a look with the General.

Dan Feng reached patted Yanqing on the head. "Why don't you go to the kitchen for a snack? A-die and I will get you Baba to play with you, okay?"

"Really?" Yanqing beamed.

"Really, now run along." Yanqing hopped off his father's lap and raced to the kitchen.

Yingxing was fast asleep when a heavy weight landed on his chest. He quickly shot up to see Dan Feng peering over him, his eyes cloudy with annoyance and a bit of anger. Jing Yuan stood next to him, an amused smile present on his face as always.

"What was that for?" Yingxing exclaimed.

"Playing dumb doesn't suit you. You know exactly what it was for!" The tail swished back and forth, threatening an even harder hit if he asked another stupid question. Though it seemed that sleep and lack of care was making Yinxing's brain run extra slow today.

"You're doing it again." Jing Yuan jumped in, saving him from another whack. "No eating, drinking, and barely any sleeping. Yanqing hasn't seen you in over a week."

Yingxing's slowly connected the dots.

Yanqing...Yanqing...

"Oh! Is he still waiting outside? How long has it been?" Yinxing pulling out his phone to check the time.

"No, we told him to go to the kitchen for snacks. You should join him for some, and maybe for a nap as well. He misses you."

Yingxing rubbed his eyes and slowly collected himself, exhaustion still very present. "Yeah, I'll definitely need a nap after."

sypnosis. [ 0.5k words. fluff. ] — Every weekend, the three of you would go out for groceries. A small bit on what it's like.

“Yanqing?” you called out from the kitchen, “Are you dressed yet?”

The pitter patter of footsteps coming down the stairs was heard moments later. “I'm ready! I'm ready!!”

The little boy, not older than seven slammed into the side of your legs for a hug, “Are we gonna go now?” he asked, looking up at you.

You give the boy an affectionate head ruffling, “Go get your Dad, then we'll go,” you say as you use your other hand to pack sandwiches into his backpack.

Yanqing nods repeatedly and then runs off to find his Dad. You hum a little song as you zip up the bag.

The little kid comes back running to you, tugging your arm and running back, you walk to the office as he starts saying what happened.

“He's sleeping with Mimi, Mama! He's sleeping!”

You let out a chuckle, Yuan did say he was going to take a nap. You let yourself be pulled in by your son.

Lo and behold, when the door opens, Yuan is there lying down on his fluffy rug, Mimi, ever the napper, is beside him.

You grow a smile on your face at the sight and snap a few pics as Yanqing is still fussing over why he's still asleep and you sigh in content as you sit down next to your lover's sleeping figure.

You run your fingers through his hair, his resting face as beautiful as ever.

“Mamaaaa!” Yanqing complains, “Stop appreciating Dad's face! We have to do the groceries!”

“I know, I know, I'm gonna wake him up now, kiddo,” you tell him and shake the man below you.

“Yuan, wake up,”

The general rises sleepily without a second to lose and rests his head on your shoulder.

“Mama, that's a cool trick, you have to teach me that,” Yanqing says in awe, “He never wakes when I do that! I even sat on his chest earlier…” he trails off.

You laugh at the kid then place a hand behind the snow-haired man's head.

“Best get dressed quickly, xīngān, no?”

He nods against you, then goes to stand.

You turn to Yanqing who beams at you, “Okay, how about we eat a snack before Dad comes back?” you tell him.

The rapid nods were all you needed to know.

Jing Yuan took about thirty minutes to get dressed and tie his hair up, he found the two of you in the kitchen eating cinnamon rolls and cheesecake.

“And then, the stars moved like this! Like this- Dad!”

You whipped your head to look at him.

“Ready?” you ask as you raise your fork, urging him to open his mouth.

Your lover leans forward and takes a bite of the cheesecake.

“It's good,” he says and kisses your cheek.

“Come now, you two, groceries,”

The day was spent just like that, the three of you roaming around the Exalting Sanctum and the Central Starskiff Haven.

I feel like for Jing Yuan to not visit his past lover nor have her contacts, she'd have to already be a bad partner. What I mean is, Jing Yuan seems like the type to even after a break up, not want it to affect his relationship with the other person UNLESS said other person was toxic. If that makes sense???

But anyways, I don't know if that mattered. Let's assume that a friend of said ex partner went to Jing Yuan for help. Explaining her situation in hopes Jing Yuan would be willing to help.

He is, much to the delight of the friend. However he underestimated just how bad the situation is, as when he went to check. The house is in shambles.

Dirty dishes building up in the sink, trash on the ground it's hard to move around in, there's a kid and aeons it smells like such dog sh-

Jing Yuan stares at you, you stare at him. It's just...silence. Despite everything and how long it may be. He knows that you're his kid. And after getting over the initial shock. He gently calls you over, but you refuse. Shaking your head and even creating a bigger distance.

He lets out a small sigh, unsure on what to do but just decides to look for your mother again. Telling you to please stay put, and once he does find the mother. Passed out on the couch with alcohol bottles around, he gets an even better view on what you seem to have went through.

Things have been dealt with, the mother is gone and in jail for child negligence which leaves you with your biological father who is more than happy to look after you.

At the same time though, your mother had both neglected your needs. Giving just the bare minimum to keep you alive and had fed you lies. The man in front of you may be your father but you can't help but believe the harsh words your mother told you.

But to your surprise, he's nothing like how she described. He's...gentle...patient...and never raises his voice at you. Even when you make a mistake and start tearing up ready to apologise, he's already brushing it off. Saying it's fine, not to worry.

Jing Yuan isn't bothered by your behaviour at all. He understands and knows. He takes a few days off work, to just ensure you're all better. You get new clothes, a big meal prepared for you and a new room. It's such a...new feeling.

Jing Yuan doesn't force you to do anything, doesn't force you to hug him or be near him. All he asks is that you stay safe in the house. He doesn't outright ask for you to trust him just because he's your father, he gains your trust. No matter how long it'll take for you to be comfortable around him.

Even when he needs to go back to work, he asks you if you're more comfortable to come with him to work and he can set up a place where you can relax and do whatever you wish. Or if you'd rather be at home. If you choose to just stay at home, he'll order some guards to ensure your safety and if Yanqing has gained your trust in this time. He'll ask the young boy to be your babysitter even if your age difference isn't that large.

Overall, Jing Yuan is definitely surprised to find out he has a child but that surprise turns into unhappiness when he finds out how you've been treated. He ensures your mother gets put in jail for her negligence then takes you in. He doesn't force you at all to trust him, he slowly earns it and whether or not you do end up trusting him eventually. He doesn't mind either outcome.

Because in the end, he doesn't care if you actually trust him or not. What he cares about is if you're healthy and happy. That's his main priority at this moment and time.

If/When you are finally ready, he's there with open arms. Happy to have you see him as a father figure and happy he can heal whatever damage his ex partner ever did to you.

He's happy because you're happy.

aventurine already has three cat cake critters and he loves them, but when you bring home a puppy, asking him with pleading eyes if you could keep it (he swore the pup was also giving him puppy eyes), he couldn't say no.

he'd be so enthusiastic with pets, like he'd buy matching accessories for the critters and your puppy. he wouldn't hold back in buying essentials like the best food and most comfortable beds

aventurine is the type that would send you numerous pictures of your pets, especially when he catches them sleeping in the cutest positions or doing the silliest things

he'd be worried at first if the critters would adapt well with the addition of the puppy, so imagine how happy he is when he sees them all buddy buddy

he bought them their own beds and all, but he'd still allow them to sleep on your shared bed with the both of you. you once had to hold yourself back from laughing when he pouted at you, your puppy sleeping between you two which didn't let him cuddle with you. he ended up cuddling with the puppy anyway

whenever none of you could stay at home due to work, he'd hire only the best pet sitters in town to take care of his babies and he'd ask for updates almost every hour

ratio, straight up, the ‘keep that dog away from me’ but is so close with the dog after a few weeks type

like, when you first brought the dog home, you had to convince him that you should keep it and that you could take good care of it, promising that it wouldn't get in the way of his work

he's reluctant, even nagging you that you'd have to be extra responsible with the animal, but agreeing nonetheless

you didn't know how it happened, but it just did, ratio’s now closer to your dog than you were for some reason. it'd sleep by his feet whenever he was in his home office reading or grading his student’s papers, which was news because he initially forbid the dog to go anywhere near his office

for someone who claimed to not want the dog, he's quite hands on with taking care of it. he'd make a schedule for when it should eat, sleep, and play even though it wouldn't be followed most of the time

he'd also discuss with you about which food is best for the new member of the family like it was some sort of research paper, he'll make sure that the dog will have a good and balanced diet and that it stays healthy

he’d be the type to keep a close eye on his dog when he takes it to a pet salon, making sure the staff doesn't hurt it or make it uncomfortable

jing yuan isn't opposed to having pets, he's got mimi. plus how could he resist the whines and coos from the puppy you held?

he'd introduce your puppy to mimi ever so gently, making sure they got along so you'd have no problem with the two coexisting in the same house

puppies are more often hyper than cats, but it must be jing yuan's influence rubbing on them, because him, the puppy, and mimi could often be seen napping together

like, it'd be so cute to see jing yuan sleeping with a soft smile, leaning back on the white lion and holding the puppy to his chest like it was his child. you have several pictures of them three just sleeping in your phone

yanqing loved to play with the puppy too. whenever the boy’s practice was over, he'd play with it, running around the general’s backyard with the puppy in tow as he led it like a general leading his soldiers to battle

whenever you’re both busy, he'd volunteer to take the puppy to his office so it'd be a common sight to see the general briefing some of the cloud knights while a puppy playfully bit and tugged at his coat

when he's out on a mission, he'd subtly ask about the puppy and what it's up to, ignoring the snicker he received from silver wolf at the way he intently and fondly watched the video you sent him of his puppy

he's so chill with his dog but the moment someone tries to hurt or look at it badly, he'd give them a deadly glare to make them back off

Jing Yuan was heartbroken beyond belief. For once in his long life, he felt like truly ending it all. There was no point without you in it. In the end, he had no real choice in your execution. And what's worse, was the fact that you still were kind to him, until you took your last breath. It destroyed him in ways nothing else could.

And just as he was truly about to give up, it was revealed that he had a son. A son you hid from him out of fear. If Jing Yuan wasn't heartbroken by now, then he was certainly soulless at this point too. The fact, that the betrayal wasn't even true and you were all innocent hurt enough already. But the realisation that he had a son now, made things even worse.

Yet somehow, he found the strength to slowly come back from the pain. If not for himself, then for Yanqing. Jing Yuan never revealed to the boy however, who he really was to him. And most importantly, who you were. He didn't do this for any malicious reasons, no, in fact it was to protect the boys innocence. But also, because Jing Yuan didn't feel worthy to be his son's father, even if he still stayed in his life despite everything.

He always wore your red ribbon in his hair too. It was his way of punishing himself in a way. Everytime he even as much as glanced at himself, he'd be reminded of you and what he had done. He deserved it, truly. Yet every year on your birthday, he'd still take the day off to spend it with Yanqing and spoil the boy.

Ofcourse, as he grew older, Yanqing began asking questions and becoming suspicious of the answers he received. Jing Yuan knew, that one day he'd have to tell him the truth. And it secretly scared him deep down to do so. He didn't want to lose his son too. But then again, he figured he'd deserve it, right?

For now however, he'll say nothing and just enjoy whatever time he had left with his son, before the truth inevitably came out. He didn't believe, that he deserved forgiveness. But he still hoped you could see them, whenever he spent time with Yanqing and be happy about it.

And if he ever meets you once more in another life, he'll make sure to never lose you again.

YEAH DIDNT TAKE A LOT FOR ME TO TALK ABOUT MY OCS...Also ignore how Anya has some eyebrows in it, they were there for comedical effect....ANYWAYS!!!! OHHHH THESE TWO, GODDDD, i love them. i love them so much. I love how they end up being a mirror with each other (with nikita being considered a "god" as he grew up and Anya being considered a monster) but how both of these views on them from a young age made them have kinda of the same trauma and problems with not knowing who they actually are, and how this made them so close to one another.

Also idk the idea of Anya being the normal one despite it all is very funny to me, points for them being platonic soulmates

Ok now I need to know after reading Yanqing’s first word, what was everyone’s reaction when he started calling them Ba, Baba, A-die and auntie? And Mimi of course

Yingxing- When Yingxing got called Baba, it was when Yanqing wanted didn't want him to go to work. Yingxing had put on his coat and getting his phone when Yanqing reached out his arms and said "Baba" with teary eyes. Yingxing was silent, unsure how to process what happened. "Baba!" Yanqing said again. Yingxing did not say anything in response, instead picked up Yanqing and clung to him. He was also an hour late to work and there was a rumor amongst the household staff that he had cried.

Dan Feng- He absolutely cried when Yanqing called him "Ba!" They were strolling through the garden at the Alchemy Commission. Yanqing loved the water and the cool air despite the fact his father was more concerned with keeping him warm. Yanqing had patted his father's face and horns and shouted out "Ba!" Dan Feng went on to brag to everyone at the Commission about his son's accomplishments.

Jingliu and Baiheng- While Jingliu did not care much for what Yanqing called her, knowing it would be "Master" once Yanqing was older enough to pick up a sword, Baiheng cared a lot. "Say Auntie! A-un-ti!" Baiheng put a lot of work in after the "Cat" incident. That work did pay off a month latter when Yanqing, with his big eyes and chubby cheeks, "Ah-Ti" to Jingliu when asking to be picked up. Jingliu, of course, did not say or show any emotions but Baiheng could tell she was happy. Baiheng, on the other hand, was ecstatic that her plan finally worked and sent the video to the group chat.

Jing Yuan- Jing Yuan was called "cat" for the longest time. This was likely due to his hair looking like Mimi's fur. However, one day when Yanqing was on his father's lap while the general was looking at reports, he wanted to show his father the white lion plushie. It had came with no warning, just "A-Die!" Jing Yuan had paused and looked down, his eyes resembling an owl. All it took was another "A-Die!", a wave of the plushie, and a gummy smile to get Jing Yuan to abandon his work for the day.

Mimi- Mimi was called "Cat" for the longest time but she didn't care. She didn't need to be called over by Yanqing, she came over when she wanted to which was all the time. It wasn't until Yanqing was over a year old that he finally started calling Mimi by her name after hearing people say it for so long. Mimi continued to not care and still did as she pleased.

husband #1 — the guard in the drabble! as I said in the tags he’s reader’s childhood friend. Swore himself to her Long before they got married lmfaooooo and part of that oath actually means that he can’t talk to anyone except her and her husbands 🫣 He’s the most physically intimidating of all the husbands, genuinely massive man lmfaooooo but honestly fairly reserved, frankly shy but it comes across as stoic more than anything. Wicked smart and very devoted to reader (obvi) so he’s def kinda her main confidant but she’s v close w all of them

husband #2 — was a political marriage!!! Offered himself in exchange for the continued support of reader’s people. She accepted and they genuinely intended for it to be platonic but he ends up falling for her eventually. He’s actually kinda nerdy LMFAOOOO a historian turned military strategist on his homeworld, now retired from said military and working part-time as a professor at a university on reader’s planet

husband #3 — an admiral; old military family type, kinda a stick in the mud. But he was actually very persistent in pursuing the reader and won her over eventually even tho they rlly butted heads at first (came from a v patriarchal homeworld so it was inevitable tbh). Was kinda arrogant and assumed she was into him and then realized he was kinda into the dismissive thing…….. this one was a VERY slow burn she left and came back to his planet many times before he finally literally begged her to give him the time of day

husband #4 — the problem child…… a rebellion leader on his homeworld who did NOT get along with reader or her three husbands when they first met despite the fact that they were allies. And then all four of them got stuck on a remote moon for a year annnnnnnd the rest is history. Definitely a spitfire, v much a street dog type of guy, and very charismatic. The only one who had a partner before reader; another rebel who died in the battle before reader showed up. He’s still a little hung up on it but happy to have something to dedicate himself to that doesn’t make him think of them

All of them rlly like Jing Yuan LMFAOOOOO and as I say in the tags she’s only married to #1 when she meets him so she marries the other three during this “once every few years I make a trip to the luofu and try to convince the general to marry me” stage pfft. But he actually met #1 before her!!! Jy saved him from an enemy camp and he’s been a lil infatuated ever since 🫣 reader thinks it’s the cutest thing. Jy is also the first person she introduces a new husband to which he always says isn’t necessary but she’s just like :) I mean I gotta make sure ur compatible :) like introducing a new cat yk JDNDKDN

While their home is on her planet w her they’re often offworld doing their own thing!!! #2 is usually off on his own on mostly educational trips, #3 and #4 bicker a lot bc of personality differences (and the difference in their upbringing—they’re from different worlds but remind each other of respective opposing bodies) but honestly spend much of their time together. They’re kinda traveling adventurers and tbh I imagine Jing Yuan just kinda slotting in with them mostly bc he says in canon that when he retires he’d like to travel around 🥺 but also playing diplomat w reader a lot bc they r v much two of a kind jdnfkenr #1 is always with her bc of his position but they all travel together a lot too esp when it’s beneficial politically to portray themselves as a solidified unit

All I Want Is To Get This Right

" oh boy! what a happy landing!" was the first thing yanqing heard upon his eyesight returning as he held his sword in hand. there was no visible sign of danger yet at it could still be lurking in every corner of this alleyway. you could the hear the yawn of the bellboy followed by him stretching out before noticing the distress that being pulled deeper into the dream had caused yanqing and was quick to walk over to him, ignoring the blade as he somehow knew that the lieutenant wouldn't hurt him nor did the bellboy fear death. one couldn't really die in a dream anyway.

" it's alright. the coast is clear now." misha spoke in attempt to assure yanqing that they were safe, placing a white gloved hand on the area where the taller boy had just been stabbed in the back to showcase that no actual physical harm came to him while those yellow ember eyes only looked misha for only sign of injury. there were none.

with the hand on back, yanqing eased down and soon carefully scathed his sword. even if it would be just a mental cut, he wouldn't want to hurt misha intentionally or not. the two boys just stood there, locking eyes while white gloved hand gently stroked up and down the warrior's back until misha knew the taller wouldn't suddenly attack someone out of fear or suspicion.

clockie awkwardly stood to the side and watched as this went on. not interfering on this moment between the two boys.

the other white gloved hand of misha's reaching up and taking yanqing's as he moved himself to the other side of the taller boy so they could walk together hand in hand once again while starting to explain to yanqing what just happened.

" you remember that claw stabbing you?" asked misha as the two walked through the alley together towards what appeared to an elevator shift in the distance. walking down freights of stairs then flat ground then stairs then back to flat ground with rows of buildings on each side of them with posters, graffiti and lights while cables of light bulb ran from one building to the other similar to march's fairy lights.

you could see a rushedly drawn image of clockie in white graffiti that was lit up by some light below with an arrow draw in the same graffiti above it's head pointing towards an archway.

" of course. how could I?" yanqing couldn't help but retort in reply as the bellboy just found his remark rather cute and continued on, " well, that was the memory meme everyone's been calling about. sleepie doesn't actually kill anyone though, just carries them here from different dreamscapes and even from one to another- like a ferry! of course there used to be a much easier way but.. the family closed it up."

" they seem to be closing up a lot of things and I remember the handbook states that the hotel in the dream has been going through renovations recently, right? an entire building.. that seems odd, don't you think?"

" oh! we tell guests that so they don't go exploring it. it's not quite up to code just yet. some of the dreamjolt troupe members have.. some issues, let's say. I'm sure you'd do fine in there! I can snuck you in for a sneak peak if you like." breaking the rules wasn't something that misha normally did. the bellboy of the reverie who followed the dream regulations but it wasn't exactly his job to hold up them. he simply had to give a smile and welcome guests into the dream.

with the company of clockie and yanqing, misha wanted to see this new experience would lead him and if that meant getting into some trouble then all the better. the bellboy was ready for an adventure and he could tell that yanqing felt the same. stopping to look up at the massive clockie.. broken down and in need of repair. almost looked forgotten and abandoned. perhaps he was in time-out. how long this time out of his had gone on for is undecided as soon misha led yanqing over towards an old elevator that looked almost like a cage that opens up for them upon taking a step near it and waiting for them to get in." this will take us up to timesplit square and then I can show you the plaza- it has the best view!"

" is this place.. dreamflux reef? where you said that you lived." yanqing spoke as he had taken his first step into the elevator with misha leading the way excited to show him around." hmhm! home sweet home! and now that you have time to 'kill' since people think you're dead, I can show you around. ooohh! and it gets even better!" the elevator closed up once more before eventually starting to move upwards with clockie tagging along.

misha looked at yanqing with pure excitement and enthusiasm that our beloved excitable lion couldn't help but match it. two boys full of energy and ready to go as they held hands. not even that small room could contain all this excitement. yanqing gave up a bright smile, nodding as an indication to keep going. " I just got a three day vacation! so out of the blue! I was thinking about seeing one of the other planets on one of those days. I texted stelle and she recommended this one called jarilo-vi- it’s all frozen over. said I should take photos and sent me a photo of the place. here, look!” misha rambled on while yanqing cling to every single word before the bellboy pulled out his phone and showed the photo stelle had sent him.

yanqing looked at the photo, already knowing what planet he was talking about before looking back up to see if he had more to say but when he didn’t, the lieutenant decided to speak with just as much enthusiasm and excitement. “ oh my gosh! that’s the planet my māmā lives on!” with a point to the image as yanqing paid no mind to the affectionate term that came out of his mouth while misha looked at the other like he was the most precious thing in the world. “ really?? how cool! I can meet your mom! uhh.. umm.. because I will be there.. and she will be there.” he started with a blurt out of words so excitedly before realizing the implication of what he had just said and tried to correct it. he wasn’t going to go look for this mystery woman/man/person but if he happened to run into her during his vacation- all the better, right?

it became awkwardly silent for a few seconds until the doors opened up though neither let go of the other’s hand even after stepping out of the elevator with misha still leading the way while clockie followed along, telling them to wait up for him because he had such tiny legs. his yellow ember eyes looked up at the floating building in the sky had a ray of light beaming from it that resembled a snowflake or star. it was eerily beautiful and alluring but - at least in yanqing’s eyes - it didn’t come close to how beautiful and alluring misha was. he had almost thought that he had died at first and part of him still did because there stood an angel in a bellhop’s uniform. when misha stood in a certain way with his head blocking the floating building with the continuing rays of light that surrounded, it made him look even more like divinity.

misha took yanqing on a tour through his home, showcasing all the best parts and places to hang out. yanqing would have to stay in dreamflux reef for awhile afterwards though, staying put until the general finally catches up and finds him here. it wasn’t all that fun to stay in one location for so long and even hanging out with misha started to grow tiring but he kept up the smile if only to see the bellboy so happy and keep his mind at ease. it would seem that arlan had tagged along on misha and yanqing’s escape ride on the ‘ferry’ but was able to go back and forth because nobody actually saw the security guard get ‘stabbed’ by sleepie.

it felt like several centuries went by until eventually the unexpected came when misha returned from his three day vacation looking upset and it would appear to have been directed at yanqing. the bellboy wouldn’t yell or scream at first as the lieutenant tried to find a way to calm him down but misha did snap as the two were hanging out together in the shorter boy’s house located in slumbertown. “ stop lying to me! and don’t even try to avoid it, I know you’ve been lying. why haven’t you woken up yet? it can’t just be because of me.” a straightforward and direct approach. something that yanqing uncharacteristically had been avoiding in fear of worrying or upsetting misha but his lies seemed to just upset the bellboy even more as it only made it appear as though yanqing was pushing away- and perhaps in a way yanqing was. this was new territory for yanqing but it didn’t seem to be that way for misha.

it came as a shock to the system when yanqing heard misha yell at him but he also knew that he had it coming. it was very well deserved after all the lying. if one were to take anything away from this situation, it would be to never listen to the advice of a gambling addicted loser like aventurine. always listen to your gay parents and never piss off misha who currently looked ready to beat yanqing up with just his mop and a bucket of memoria. maybe that would clean up yanqing’s act. “ okay, okay. I will explain.” he started up as the two of them stood in the living room. yanqing kept a table in between them for the moment as it looked like a fight was going to happen- be it with classic cartoony violence or with words. “you know that I was looking into the watchmaker’s legacy, right? well.. I was given some advice and intel from the ipc’s aventurine. he told me not to trust anyone and to keep my cards close to my chest.” yanqing would feel the soaked brushes of a mop hit him on the head as a signal from misha to quit talking like the gambler and get to his point already. it was warranted and deserved, “ I was.. kinda doing that. you, my dear bellboy, are definitely an important ‘card’ but that’s not why I’m still here. you said it before.. people think I’m dead right now and that includes my dad. he will come looking for me and staying here will make things easier for him.”

misha listened and took in the words, knowing them to be true before his mop vanished from his hands and he gave a nod in reply causing yanqing to let out a sigh of relief as he had been spared by the aeons. “ okay. that makes sense.” he stated as the two boys soon moved to sit together on the coach with hands slightly touching while the bellboy still appeared a little bit upset. “ you know.. I really was thinking that I had somehow done something wrong. you don’t lie. you could have just told me you were waiting for your dad, I would have understood.” the two boys sitting down and having a real conversation with each other. the air had been so tense but slowly it was starting to become less so until misha was laying his head on yanqing’s shoulder again.

“ no, it’s not you.” yanqing shook his head in reply before laying it atop of the other’s, “ I’ve just never been in this.. situation before. liking someone as much as I like you and I really like you. I just.. don't want to mess this up somehow. considering I've been on a losing streak recently."

" I just.. I just want this to last, that's all." misha curled himself up beside the other. a love that lasts. was that too much to ask? his grandfather left him here alone so many years ago. pulled away from him and didn't talk to him. yanqing hadn't been talking to misha and therefore misha thought he was planning on leaving him too. he knew that yanqing never promised to stay here forever and misha wouldn't ask that of him but the bellboy only really ever had himself at the end of it all.

it was just nice to finally have someone to come home to and would welcome him with such warmth and love. misha knew that yanqing would have to go back to the luofu but a part of him didn't want to ever let yanqing go now that he was holding him so close. he knew it was selfish. " I can't stay here forever, misha." yanqing pointed out only for the bellboy to cuddle up into him even more, " I know. can-can I just have this moment?"

" of course."

yanqing would wake up, cuddled up and laid out on the couch with misha. who knew a person could fall asleep in a dream, am I right? but that’s what had happened to yanqing as he currently didn’t feel like moving as he looked at misha and soon saw that the other boy was awake too. it had been a good four or so days of knowing each other that felt like so much longer but yanqing didn’t really know how to define this relationship. were they dating now or was it too early to decide on that? perhaps they needed more time. " .. what time is it?" he whispered to himself, pulling up his phone and checking the digital clock on there, " we slept for.. eight system hours. so, I've been here for a hundred and four system hours." he noted more to himself than to misha.

" hmm.. you arrived at the reverie a good forty-eight system hours before that. so I would say in total you have been on penacony for a hundred and fifty-six system hours." misha sleepily added in.

" and I spent the most of that hundred and fifty-six hours.." the boy sat up and stretched out, " with you!" before looking down and seeing that sweet adorable face of misha's looking back up at him. misha couldn't help but smile in response, feeling so special yet at the same time feeling like he might have wasted the lieutenant's time. misha and yanqing silently agreed to not talk about the future right now- as both preferred to simply live in the moment and take things one day at a time or rather one system hour at a time.

they did however agree to never lie to each other but that pact of no lying would soon imply to arlan when the two headed out into town to spend some time together before misha had to head to work. seeing who had landed in was the most fun part of any day spent in dreamflux reef. robin had already been there by the time yanqing arrived and was waiting for her brother to show up. in the meantime she taught the local orphans how to sing while yanqing opted to teach them another way to 'sing' via self defense techniques. they'll thank him when they're older.

yanqing didn't see any sign of the astral express crew yet. perhaps they were running a little late and needed to catch up with everyone. after listening to all the different people's thoughts and gathering intel on the family, yanqing had been proven correct about his early suspicions. there was no way everybody in a family could get along so easily or rather as often as the family implied. there was bound to be internal fighting and arguments but it would seem that the watchmaker had been the black sheep of the family so to say.

the legacy of the watchmaker couldn't really remain such a mystery for long when you're dating the grandson of the previous watchmaker. those stones with names on them? apparently they are what the short-lifers would call tombstones. yanqing had only learned this tidbit of information from arlan and misha when they met up in timesplit square.

" you.. keep the dead bodies on broad? that's a definite bacteria issue you have on your hands. not to mention, a heliobus could possess that thing." noted yanqing after arlan explained the concept to him.

" of course not but we have all sorts on the herta space station. while how they say goodbye to their loved ones is entirely up to them, we definitely don't keep rotting corpses just laying around." answered arlan, " besides, heliobi are only native to your flagships in particular."

" the xianzhou alliance does a voyage type of thing, right? kinda similar to vikings. you put the body inside a starkiff with all the things that person liked and send it off into space." misha mentioned.

" usually yeah but last time we couldn't find the body, so all we could do was put the things she liked as well as certain gifts people never got to give her." stated yanqing.

the topic of death was quite heavy, especially after the misunderstanding of sleepie. memory memes weren't viewed as monsters here in dreamflux reef. it was quite similar to how jing yuan and yanqing viewed mimi. a creature most would view as dangerous and needing to be locked up or shot but with enough training and love, a lion or a memory meme or even a dreamjolt troupe member could make for a good companion. " soo.. anyway! we should talk about something else. misha and I-" yanqing started in attempt to change the topic but then was interrupted by arlan, " are dating? yeah. I got that."

" p-please don't interrupt like that! I think he was talking about something else." spoke misha who didn't look embarrassed by the notion at all, only his usual shy nature poking through. arlan looked between the two of them in utter silence, waiting for one or the other to say something. yanqing and misha looked to each other as if they were talking telepathically but really just were reading each other's expressions and body language.

" right. we talked. you are our son now- wait, no, that wasn't it either. what I was trying to say earlier was that misha and I were talking. about lies and the hunt for the watchmaker's legacy. I don't think any of us three really consider it a mystery at this point but we think we should be more open about our discoveries. be honest." yanqing explained to arlan.

" yeah. and what I discovered is that you two are clearly head over heels for each other. that ain't a mystery." replied arlan, " also you can't adopt me without the proper paperwork first."

" the real watchmaker's legacy was the friends we made along the way." mused misha, " .. and illegal adoption."

" must you really encourage him, misha?" asked arlan a little irritated.

yanqing checked his phone while misha and arlan had their little banter. the three were almost like a close knitted family now. " oh.. half a system hour before you have to clock in." he reminded misha, expecting only a nod or a 'thank you, yanqing' but instead received a kiss on the cheek from the bellhop as thanks. yep. they were dating now.

10,000 Post Tag Round Up!

Phew. Sorry things have been quiet here, I’ve been really overwhelmed by my day job, and also I had some maintenance/bookkeeping stuff I wanted to do with the blog, and trying to find time to do it was really messing me up. It’s done now, though, so...

1. I’ve overhauled how I tag, or rather, how I organize those tags once they exist. I’ll tag just the same, but my master posts of tags will now only include tags used 10 or more times with a few exceptions - all trigger warnings remain, and all primary character tags, and all primary ship tags, even if they’re not at 10. However, most other things, there need to be ten. I’m hoping this will simplify my updating and save me some time, and relieve some psychological pressure too (knowing that every single time I created a new tag, I’d have to add it to the list, was a lot of work and stress for me.) All the tags still exist, though, and now when I do the tag wrangling for these summation posts, I’ll update the master tag lists too with anything now over ten.

2. As always, I’m expanding tagging and adding tags as needed to help people find the art they might want to see from the collection.  If you have a trigger or squick that I am not currently tagging, and you’d like me to tag it, please let me know - anon asks are fine - what you’d like tag, and if you have a preferred tag that you already blacklist. my latest fic idea, wherein jiang cheng leaves the jiang sect to become a rogue cultivator

ok so canon-compliant au where jc has enough of jfm’s shit, cuts his hair, and leaves the jiang sect 

i am currently in class and very tired but this is something i saw on twitter and it has not left my mind since so lemme break it down:

some time after the indoctrination at qishan but before the attack on lotus pier

y'all know that scene where jfm tells jc that he doesn't understand what the yunmengjiang motto means 

yeah that got my blood boiling because i am a #1 jc stan and fuck you jfm 

so maybe instead of taking it, jc just. snaps. goes off on jfm for being a shite dad for making him feel like he was never worthy, never enough, never good enough to be acknowledged by his father etc etc. and he just. walks out

cue silence. madam yu is especially surprised and tries to call him back but he ignores her point blank

he goes to his room, packs his things, leaves his bell on the bedside table

now as yall may know, back in the day cutting your hair was a no-no because of parents and stuff and how its a link to your parents etc etc

jc stands in front of the mirror, takes his hair down, unsheathes sandu, and just when wwx and jyl walk into the room, intent on comforting him, he cuts the hair at shoulder length

cue silence pt. 2

he hugs his sister, says sorry, tells wwx to not be an idiot and take care of jyl, and walks out

cue crying

he is no longer Jiang Cheng, heir of YunmengJiang Sect. he is just another face, another cultivator

madam yu, is, understandably distraught and angry and tries to convince him to stay on his way out

he apologizes, brushes her off, and with one last glare towards his father, he walks out of Lotus Pier. 

he travels for a few days before hearing that lotus pier has been attacked by the Wens

(jfm and jyl stay in lotus pier in this instead of leaving and yzy

of course, he rushes back home to see the place in flames, disciples dead and his family missing

Jfm is dead. Yzy, jyl, and wwx are missing

Jc is torn between the need to murder wc and wzl and find his family

He decides to find his family

Wwx has been caught and un-golden-cored and is now missing 

Yzy is not in the best shape

she gives him zidian 

jc uses his connections with lxc and nhs to get lwj over here immediately because ‘i have to find my brother and you're basically a bottom magnet’

Meanwhile yzy and jyl, with the help of the lan and nie sect, take back lotus pier

Yzy dies, big sad

Jyl is made the clan leader of yunmengjiang

Sunshot campaign happens 

Oh btw wwx was tossed into burial mounds and is now: demonic cultivator

and jc is wandering the world, hunting demons, teaching his daughter about cultivation (demonic and otherwise because in this why would he hate it) and he occasionally goes home to yunmeng to see his sister and his nephew and jyl dotes on a-qing and at the end of the day he has no responsibilities and nothing to fear, and even though his father called him a coward and told him he wouldn't survive a minute alone, he knew that he had proved him wrong and attempted the impossible, and succeeded.

3. Happiest Moment: Everyone always says, “what about when Sizhui remembers who he is?” and yeah, thats a happy moment. It’s also overdone. Lets remember my PERSONAL happiest moment, when Wen Ning finally regains his consciousness after becoming a fierce corpse and he had his whole family surrounding him, and he was so happy. Gets me RIGHT HERE.

15. Any Ship You Like Besides WangXian: SongXiao dlfkdsh. I’m boring.~ But I also kinda prefer NingXian to WangXian, just a little. It’s about the DEVOTION, babey. I’m also XueYao trash. If they’d just fucked it out a couple of times a lot of bad shit probably would have been avoided imo. Also YanQing. Give Wen Qing the hot girlfriend she deserves!

21. A Fanon You Like: I cannot remember who originally posted it, but someone headcanoned that Nie Mingjue’s mother was into art and poetry and other “traditionally” feminine things and it was Nie Huaisang’s mother who was hardcore into training and saber cultivation. I was like YES and latched onto it and now I can’t picture it any other way. 

35. Who Is The Biggest Disaster: depends on your definition of disaster. Who’s the biggest chaotic disaster? Xue Yang, by a landslide. Who’s the biggest overall disaster? Jin Guangyao. I mean, I’m sympathetic and I understand why he felt he had to do what he did, but bby... you dug yourself in too deep and couldn’t climb your way out. What did you THINK was gonna happen? Biggest gay disaster? Lan Wangji. The whole first half of the series is just him HORNY FISTCLENCHING and not acknowledging his feelings. 

36. Character You Would Have Liked To Have More Background/Screen-Time: Jiang Yanli. DEAR GOD, Jiang Yanli. Let her be something other than uwu wwx’s mommy who makes him soup. Let her have some background time with her son before shit hits the fan! Let us see what her happy domestic life with jzx was like! Let Yanli actually confront her complicated feelings wrt jzx’s death instead of her having to bottle it up for wwx’s sake! There’s no way she wasn’t angry with him! Let her be upset! Let her be her own person! I’m so mad she’s basically just another sadboy plot device.

Jing Yuan was unbelievably happy to hear that you were pregnant with his child. It was like a dream come true and he was so excited to have a new addition in the family soon. He spoiled you with gifts and affection, before practically announcing it proudly to everyone that could listen. Soon enough all generals and important people of the Xianzhou alliance were informed and happy to hear the good news.

But that left you with only Yanqing to tell, who until then, was blissfully unaware of the approaching doom that was Jing Yuan, who had agreed to tell him about the news himself. You were too worried of what his reaction would be, as you didn't want him to think that you were replacing him. And so, your dear, perfect husband took it upon himself to tell him, since no one could do it better than him, the man who raised Yanqing since he was a boy.

Now, if you weren't so happy and swooning over your husband's act of bravery, you would've maybe noticed the evil grin on his lips, as he went on his way to tell the poor unsuspecting boy the great news. Finding Yanqing was relatively easy, as he was calmly resting at a bridge near the training grounds, after a long day of refining his skills.

He greeted Jing Yuan like he usually did, but stopped himself, when he saw that grin. He immideatly knew that whatever came next would be life altering. And so, he slowly turned his head to stare off into the distance, whilst his mentor made himself comfortable next to him. It took Jing Yuan a moment to get to the point, but when he did, the silence that followed was absolutely deafening.

The older man turned his head to the boy, just to receive the biggest side eye in all of history. To say that Yanqing was not amused, would be an understatement. Sure, he was extremely happy and excited to finally have a sibling... but he knew that he'd never find peace again with the older man now. And he certainly didn't want to admit to defeat either.

Yanqing asked him if he was serious and when Jing Yuan confirmed it, the boy simply hummed and took off his swords, before neatly placing them against the bridge. And then, he unceremoniously swung his leg over the railing and attempted to just jump off the bridge out of spite.

First he took away his mother, then his allowance and now he dared to be smug? Yeah, Yanqing will see to it, that he stops playing with him like that. Jing Yuan let out a yell of surprise, as he grabbed onto the boy's collar and stopped him, as he flailed around and tried to escape.

Meanwhile, you happily clasped your hands together and smiled in awe at the sight of them "bonding" over the great news from where you were hiding. It seems like Yanqing can't wait to be a big brother to his new sibling!
