#Yang xiao long (human barbarian)

Fucked Stupid 7C: After failing a wager she’d made in a bit of drunken fun, Yang finds herself at the mercy of the orc that she challenged and close to losing her whole self…
In hindsight, perhaps jumping into a drinking game that she only barely knew the rules to wasn’t the best of ideas—but, in Yang’s defense, she was already a bit tipsy when she’d decided to jump in, and it really hadn’t seemed that hard at first. Toss a silver into a mug at the end of the bar, and every time you miss you had to take a shot. Surely it wouldn’t be too difficult—and even if she missed a bunch, she bragged that she’d still drink him under the table.
Thirty minutes later, and a heavily inebriated blonde brawler finally dropped in defeat…and the still mostly sober orc flashed a tusky grin, scooping her up off the bar and carrying her to his room to cash in on her drunken bet.
“You said I could do anything I wanted to you if I won~” he chuckled over the groans of pleasure and lust that tumbled from Yang’s lips. He grinned down at her, his hands clenching and squeezing roughly at her doughy backside as he held her pinned to the bed, his hips bucking and rutting roughly into her as he drilled down into her. “Then I’m going to make you my personal whore, you dumb blonde bimbo~ get used to this being your nightly routine~”
Yang groaned at his words, but it was the only response she could really give. Too drunk to resist when he’d ripped off her clothes the second they’d stepped into the room, and now too aroused to deny it. Every thrust was remolding her in ways she could not recover from—her eyes rolled back as she bit at her lip, whining and groaning with wanton desire. “Ohhh fucking goddd~”
The orc chuckled and gripped her hair tight—coaxing a sudden gasp from her lips as he tugged her head back, and leaned over her pinned and prone form. “There’s no gods in this room, Blondie~ just me~ so if you’re gonna pray to anyone, pray to your new master that he’ll treat you like the good slut you are~”
And with a lustful chuckle, his lips dropped to hers in a breathtaking kiss—Yang moaning more desperately as she leaned back and kissed back harder, melting as she gave in to her new fate.

The Emperor-Verse: RWBY: Saints of Remnant, a reimagined AU(More details in Keep Reading!)
Tumblr media
Once there was a world by the name of Omnibus. Created by the supreme deity The Author Allfather through the mysterious entity The Storyteller, this world was composed of four holy and mighty kingdoms, ruled by The Author’s Patron Saints whose reign protected the people, human and faunus alike, with their mighty armies, hunters, and their own holy powers from barbarian hordes, and the hordes of The Grimm who were the incarnations of hatred of the fallen seraph Grimmel The Black and his fellow fallen angels
In the dreadful world-shattering war of Ragnarök, the glorious age of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty, and the days of Romance, Heroism Adventure, and Eucatastrophe came to a tragic end.
Now all that remains is the world that is Remnant
But there is a prophecy made by Ozma The First Time Wizard before his death at the hands of The Witch-Emperor, that one day the bloodlines of the original Patron Saints and the families betrothed to them will return to take up these powers, rally armies of the righteous, vanquish the darkness and restore the holy kingdoms and Omnibus and reign over them once more.
Sinners will become Saints
Legends shall be restored and new Legends will be born
And what was a Remnant, Shall Be Whole Again.
But until then, the Hunters lead a struggling battle against the Grimm while the modern kingdoms suffer under corruption of all kinds, both to the benefit of darker forces who have horrifying intentions for the world.
Cue Ruby Rose and her older half-sister Yang Xiao Long, they are about to enter Beacon Academy after being approved by the eccentric Professor Ozpin Pine along with the heiress Weiss Schnee and the introverted faunus Blake Belladonna forming team RWBY
Ozpin has also enrolled a few other students and transferred others.
The former forming team JNPR, and the latter being Team SSSN of Haven Academy
Ozpin seems to have his eye on all of them, but what for?
Heavily inspired by CS Lewis's series The Chronicles of Narnia
Main Ships Contained:
RoseGarden
BlackSun
Iceberg/Arctic Water
Arkos
Renora
and some other ships
Also will contain unorthodox reimagining such as Adam Taurus(He's an initial antagonist turned good) and the White Fang and Jacques Schnee and the SDC with their Canon!Counterparts replaced with substitutes among other things
Currently the concept is in the works in a series of notes.
Details of the Emperor-Verse
Now I'm sure there's some questions you probably are all asking which I assume are the same questions as my blog
“Why are you using your Religion?”
Mostly due to it being a strong foundation, notably theology, for most of my stories, there are many strong foundations of storytelling, religion, history, you can even fantasize science if you put the imagination, time, and effort into it.
After doing some soul searching and listening to the Narnia books on Audible, it became another important element in making this au and I might include elements of CS Lewis’ Space Trilogy
This AU is set in my fictional Multiverse The Emperor-Verse which Narnia is implied to exist in, or I should say had existed in(its set after The Last Battle)
“Isn’t this kind of entitled and disrespectful?”
Disagreement isn’t necessarily malicious, and entitlement is not inherently bad if its your opinions and subjective feelings which people are entitled to.
Tolkien was heavily inspired by his distaste for how Shakespeare handled certain concepts, such as the Ents when he was upset and dissatisfied that there were no walking talking trees in the Enchanted Fortest of Macbeth, and the Valar Aule the Smith and the origin of the Dwarves make him something of an Anti-Prometheus
Not to mention Philip Pullman, the author of His Dark Materials Trilogy, made it out his distaste how CS Lewis made the Chronicles of Narnia and his overall beef with Christianity, and nobody seems to take issue with that.
I’m not saying the direction RWBY went with V3 or Pyrrha and the rest of the cast potentially ending tragically in some way or another is objectively bad, it was just not my taste
And I am not saying every normal RWBY fan/RWDE person who liked it is an elitist about it nor are all of them trying to insult me and attack me personally or say my ideas are bad
Nor I’m not trying to change canon or its “trajectory” , nor am I doing this to spite Monty, especially when I never knew the guy. This is a difference in handling ideas and concepts.
I’m doing my RWBY AU, which will most likely be revamped into an original story since it takes a whole different directions with the characters and world, but it's mostly because with post V3 and now in retrospect I saw what this world, characters, ships and other ideas could have been all in a story I believe is worth telling. And I was disappointed that it wasn’t.
I mean yeah it's also due to personal tastes and preferences and subjective feelings, at least I’ve been told, but I also try to integrate that in a meaningful way.
So I hope you all enjoy what I have to offer, which will most likely be put on AO3 and FanFiction.Net, and who knows, I might get a few artists to commission to redesign some characters or illustrate some scenes if anyone is up for it.

#57: Yang Xiao Long [RWBY]
Tumblr media
[Art Credit: izumi_sai] ---
Let me explain:
The request to build a D&D version of everybody's favourite punny brawling bombshell, Yang Xiao Long, came from an anonymous reader as the most recent one. However, I have decided to make this a priority since the requestor mentioned they have a campaign coming and they wish to play as the iconic character from RWBY. If I'm too late, I am so sorry... but I will at least go out with a Yang! ...Eh? Eh?
Tumblr media
Next Time: Back to our regularly scheduled program with Doctor Liao and the origins of Skynet!
Now then, let's see what we need to past this Hunter exam!
One Punch Gal: Yang is a master of hand-to-hand combat, but she's also quite proficient with her gauntlet guns, the Ember Celica, to attack enemies at a distance... with her fists.
Uno Reverse Hulk: Yang absorbs the kinetic energy from attacks directed at her (but keeps the pain) to reinforce her own attacks and protections.
One Woman Army: Early on, Yang's battle tactics were simple: walk in and own everything and everyone. As the problems in the world of RWBY evolved, so did her approach to resolving fights, but she still remains the strongest member of the team and its chief frontliner.
---
As far as we know, Yang is a human; we will, however, use the Aasimar from Mordenkainen's Monsters of the Multiverse to represent her ability to use Aura and Semblance. We get a +2 and a +1 to two abilities of our choice (Constitution and Strength respectively), speed of 30 feet, Celestial Resistance to radiant and necrotic damage, Healing Hands ability that allows us to, once per long rest, heal a number of Hit Points equal to [our proficiency bonus]d4, and the Light cantrip.
Yang is a rather famous Huntress, known for her physical prowess, so we're gonna give her the Athlete background. We gain proficiencies in Acrobatics and Athletics, one language of our choice, proficiency with land vehicles (which means we can get our Bumblebee before we get the... other Bumblebee) and the Echoes of Victory feature; whenever we arrive at a new location, there is a 50/50 chance we will find a fan of ours, who is willing to share information or provide a shelter.
ABILITY SCORES
Strength will be our primary focus; we need to be able to effectively punch anything ranging from random bar thugs to giant nightmare werewolves. Constitution will be next, the other half of being the frontliner is the ability to take a hit. Dexterity is after that, Yang learns to evade and position herself a bit later in her career; plus, we need to take care of the physical stats first.
Charisma is next, her puns may be awful but Yang herself is rather charming (and quite intimidating when she needs to be). Wisdom will be on the lower end, because she still gets a good advice every now and then, and we're dumping Intelligence.
CLASS
Level 1 - Barbarian: Let's start with a solid base. Barbarians get d12 as their Hit Dice, [12 + our Constitution modifier] initial Hit Points, proficiencies in light armour, medium armour, shields, simple weapons, and martial weapons. Yang does not wear armour, and we will not use weapons (but we still are gonna get the Ember Celica, trus me) but can grab something simple just in case. Our saving throws are Strength and Constitution, and we get to pick two class skills from the list (Intimidation and Perception).
Barbarians start with their signature ability, Rage. As a bonus action, we enter a state of furious, gaining the following benefits provided we do not wear a heavy armour:
Advantage on Strength-related checks and saving throws
A +2 bonus to damage rolls of our Strength-based melee weapon attacks
Resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage
While raging we cannot cast spells or concentrate on them. Rage lasts for 1 minute or until we're knocked unconscious. It also ends if we do not attack/take damage from a hostile create for one turn.
Tumblr media
We also gain Unarmoured Defense. When unarmoured, our AC equals [10 + our Dexterity modifier + our Constitution modifier]. We can still use a shield and gain this benefit.
Level 2 - Barbarian: We awaken our Danger Sense. If we're not blinded, deafened, or incapacitated, we gain an advantage on Dexterity saving throws against effects we can see, such as traps or spells. We also learn how to make a Reckless Attack; when we attack for the first time, we can declare it reckless and gain an advantage on melee weapon attacks for that turn. Unfortunately, all enemies have an advantage on attacks made against us for that time.
Level 3 - Fighter: Time to get some technique to our fists. Multiclassing into Fighter gives us proficiencies we already have, so we can skip those. We get to choose our Fighting Style, and it's a no-brainer to grab Unarmed Fighting for Yang. We can now deal [1d6 + our Strength modifier] bludgeoning damage with our unarmed strikes. If we do not use any weapons, the die changes to 1d8. We also get Second Wind, which allows us to heal [1d10 + our Fighter level] Hit Points as a bonus action once per short or long rest.
At this level, we also gain the racial ability Celestial Revelation. As a bonus action, we can unleash our celestial energy Aura and transform for 1 minute. With the Radiant Consumption option, we emit a bright light for 10 feet and a dim light for another 10. Until the transformation ends, each creature within 10 feet of us suffers radiant damage equal to our proficiency bonus, and we can add the same amount of radiant damage to one target whenever we attack it.
Level 4 - Fighter: We get Action Surge, which allows us to once per short or long rest take an extra Action on our turn in combat.
Level 5 - Fighter: We pick our first subclass, our Martial Archetype. We will focus on the power behind Yang's punches and pick the Champion Archetype. With Improved Critical, our weapon attacks score a critical hit on either a 19 or a 20.
Level 6 - Fighter: We finally get our first Ability Score Improvement. We need to increase our Wisdom and Dexterity by 1 point each.
Level 7 - Fighter: We now get Extra Attack. We can now make two strikes during a single Attack action.
Level 8 - Fighter: Our next ASI. We can finally put two more points into Wisdom and jump classes to refine our technique.
Level 9 - Monk: Unfortunately, once again we have to pass on some multiclassing benefits. Additionally, here is where we could gain Unarmoured Defense, but the one from Barbarian's side of the build is a bit better for us. We do, however, gain access to Martial Arts. While unarmed (or wielding a monk weapon) and unarmoured we gain the following benefits:
We can use our Dexterity or Strength when using unarmed strikes and monk weapons
We can roll a d4 in place of the regular damage dice for unarmed strikes and monk weapons; that Martial Arts dice changes as we level up.
When we use the Attack action unarmed or with a monk weapon, we can use our bonus action to make another unarmed attack.
Since Yang uses the long-ranged Ember Celica, we can replace that (for now) with a set of monk darts (or, you can ask your DM for a hand-mounted small crossbows)
Tumblr media
Level 10 - Monk: Halfway through the build and we unlock the Monk's key feature known as Ki (hah!). We gain a pool of Ki Points that we can spend in order to gain some extra features. We start with three of those:
Flurry of Blows: Spending 1 Ki Point lets us make two unarmed strikes as a bonus action if we make the Attack action.
Patient Defense: Spending 1 Ki Point lets us take the Dodge action as a bonus action.
Step of the Wind: Spending 1 Ki Point lets us the Dash or Disengage actions as bonus actions, and it doubles your jumping distance for the turn.
We also gain Unarmoured Movement. As long as we're not wearing armour, our speed gains a +10 feet bonus.
Level 11 - Monk: We learn how to Deflect Missiles. When targeted by a projectile, we can use our Reaction to reduce the damage by [1d10 + our Dexterity modifier + our Monk level]. If we manage to reduce the damage to 0, we catch the projectile and can use the same Reaction to make a ranged (20/60) attack with it.
Here, we also pick our third subclass - our Monastic Tradition. We can now activate our Aura with Way of the Sun Soul. We can now fire off even more devastating bolts with our Ember Celica. With Radiant Sun Bolt, we gain a new way to use our Attack action: a special spell attack with the range of 30 feet, we are proficient with it and add our Dexterity modifier, the damage type is radiant and the damage die is our Martial Arts die. We can also make those attacks as our Flurry of Blows technique.
Level 12 - Monk: We finally get another ASI. Let's put two points into Dexterity to increase all the important stuff. At this level, we also learn Slow Fall - we can reduce our falling damage by [our Monk level x5]. Additionally, since we didn't get anything from multiclassing into either Monk or Fighter, I personally would allow to take the optional Quickened Healing feature, but discuss it with your DM.
Level 13 - Monk: Our Martial Arts die becomes 1d6 now. We also gain a new Ki option - Stunning Strike. When we hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, we can spend 1 Ki Point to attempt to stun it. The target must make a Constitution saving throw or become stunned until the end of our next turn.
At this level, the Monk would've gotten the Extra Attack. Since we already have it from Fighter, we wouldn't stack it. That being said, I would allow it to evolve, since this is around the time you would get Extra Attack Upgrade as a Fighter, and we do need to make Yang more punchy. Once again, discuss it with your DM.
Level 14 - Monk: With Ki-Empowered Strikes, our punches now count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistances and immunities... which means you can punch ghosts now. Also, our Unarmoured Movement bonus is not +15 feet.
We also gain a subclass upgrade. With Searing Arc Strike, we can now spend 2 Ki Points as a bonus action immediately after an attack to cast Burning Hands. We can spend more Ki Points to raise the spell's level
Tumblr media
Level 15 - Monk: Time for some strategic positioning both physically and mentally. With Evasion, we now take no damage if we succeed on an area-of-effect Dexterity saving throw (if we fail, we take half damage when we would normally take full damage). With Stillness of Mind, we can use our Action to end a charmed or frightened effect on ourselves.
Level 16 - Monk: Time for another ASI, and we're going to raise our Strength by two points to... pack more of a punch? ...Eh? Eh?
...Well, they can't all be winners.
Level 17 - Monk: With Unarmoured Movement Improvement, we can now run across liquids and vertical surfaces without losing our foothold (as long as we have enough movement).
Level 18 - Monk: Our Unarmoured Movement bonus is now +20 feet. We also explore more healing properties of our Aura with Purity of Body; we are now immune to all poison and disease.
Level 19 - Monk: Our Martial Arts die is now a 1d8. It's also time for another subclass upgrade; with Searing Sunburst, we can create an orb of light and hurl it at any point within 150 feet. Every creature within 20 feet radius has to make a Constitution saving throw or take 2d6 radiant damage. While it doesn't seem like a lot, we can spend some Ki Points to increase the damage (1 Ki Point for extra 2d6 to a maximum of 3 Ki Points).
Level 20 - Monk: Our capstone is Monk 12, which gives us an ASI. While we could max out our Strength, let's put two points into Constitution for better AC and extra HP before the big final fight with Salem.
Tumblr media
---
And that's the Goldilocks Berserker. Let's see how we did:
First of all, for someone who exclusively uses her fists, we've managed to compile quite a roster of damage-dealing. At our absolute maximum, in one turn we can punch twice as a standard attack for 1d8+4, add two more attacks with Flurry of Blows, and then use Action Surge to do that whole thing again for the maximum of 48 damage. And if that doesn't work out, we have some Ki-based Kamehameha shots and if it seems like we're getting too much damage we can easily heal.
Our unarmoured AC is 17, we have a +3 to our Initiative, 50 feet of ground speed, and the average of 181 Hit Points.
While we have a rather decent physical ability spread (18/16/18), our mental side is rather abandoned. We are also a single-purpose character: we need to punch stuff, and the few skill proficiencies we have are also geared for that.
---
And that's Ms Xiao Long. That was fun, though I did not expect to make her so similar to the previous build. Anywho, to the anonymous person who requested this - I hope it meets your expectations and your campaign turns out to be fun. Enjoy!
-Nerdy out!

RWBY AU: Looking for talent for a think tank!
"Moved with music--measureless the waves'  Joy and jubilee. It is JOVE's orbit,
Filled and festal, faster turning  With arc ampler.
From the Isles of Tin  Tyrian traders, in trouble steering
Came with his cargoes; the Cornish treasure  That his ray ripens.
Of wrath ended  And woes mended, of winter passed  And guilt forgiven, and good fortune
Jove is master; and of jocund revel,  Laughter of ladies. The lion-hearted,  The myriad-minded, men like the gods,  Helps and heroes, helms of nations  Just and gentle, are Jove's children,  Work his wonders.
On his white forehead  Calm and kingly, no care darkens
Nor wrath wrinkles: but righteous power  And leisure and largess their loose splendours  Have wrapped around him--a rich mantle  Of ease and empire." - CS Lewis, The Planets
Once there was a world by the name of Omnibus. Created by the supreme deity The Author Allfather through the mysterious entity The Storyteller who brought in people from The Other World to inhabit and are whom the humans and Faunus are descended.
Omnibus was composed of four holy and mighty kingdoms, ruled by The Storyteller's Patron Saints whose reign protected the people, human and faunus alike, with their mighty armies and hunters from barbarian hordes, and the hordes of The Grimm who were the blight of the world and extensions of the will of the fallen being Grimmel The Black and his fellow fallen angels
In the dreadful world-shattering war of Ragnarök, the glorious age of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty, and the days of Romance, Heroism Adventure, and Eucatastrophe came to a tragic end.

But there is a prophecy made by Ozma The First Time Wizard before his death, that one day the bloodlines of the original Patron Saints and the families betrothed to them will return to take up these powers, rally armies of the righteous, vanquish the darkness and restore the holy kingdoms and Omnibus and reign over them once more.
Sinners will become Saints
Curses will be broken
Legends shall be restored and new Legends will be born
And what was a Remnant, Shall Be Whole Again.
But until then, the Hunters lead a struggling battle against the Grimm while the modern kingdoms suffer under corruption of all kinds, both to the benefit of darker forces who have horrifying intentions for the world.

Ozpin seems to have his eye on all of them, but what for?
Inspired by CS Lewis's works, The Chronicles of Narnia and The Ransom Trilogy,
The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe and That Hideous Strength in particular, as well as the book Planet Narnia by Michael Ward(which I highly recommend to all Narnians)
This reimagined RWBY AU takes the world of Remnant, puts it into the Narnia multiverse, new directions with it's ideas and concepts to tell a different story
A story of faith, hope, courage, re-enchantment, the passing of the sorrowful winter and the coming of the joyous summer.
I'm working on this project, and as I have many ideas and a big picture, I am stumped. So I'm opening a think tank!
Looking for writers
editors
Artists(character, vehicle, background, and architecture designs, concepts, scenes, weapons, etc.)
The format will be a visual format, and audio drama with static images akin to Fixing RWBY by Celtic Pheonix, something akin to a visual novel if that's a good comparison
This project is rated PG-13 for It will have intense violence, brief strong language, partial nudity, and mild drug and alcohol use.
All who apply will be given access to my discord.
Audition for me either with the link if you have a CastingCallClub Account or DM me here on Tumblr!

What would each Antares character play as in a tabletop RPG like Dungeons and Dragons? What races, classes and builds? Why? What does it say about them as a character?
now this IS a fun one. I'm gonna go with standard D&D because I know it well enough, though there is actually an in-universe dungeon-crawler tabletop RPG called Grimmlings & Grottos. But anyway! Let's do some breakdowns. Let's just set it tentatively at the beginning of the story, because what the characters might play at the end would be very different. But lets just stick with early days for now. I'm also gonna stick to the people, so far, who might currently have played in Ruby's hypothetical D&D game, so thats mostly her family and friend group. Beacon Era, even. Or else this would be VERY long.
First of all: Ruby is the DM. No question. She wants to tell stories, make homebrew stuff, and gets to play all of the monsters and NPCs. done deal. If she had to be a player at all she'd probably want to be something she can do a lot of fun roleplaying in, and also probably be really rules-lawyering and try to swing it all in her favour. Which makes me think that her go to is a Stout Halfling Dhampir (its a lineage that goes on top of a base race) as an Arcane Trickster Rogue or something ("yeah DM sneak attack is once per turn"). But yeah Ruby is the DM. As for why? She likes storytelling, and she likes having a measure of control over things around her, she's not ever been a 'go-with-the-flow' person, she thinks and plans and even as leader her worries were 'what if things get out of control and I can't handle that' rather than 'i'm too young for this'. And, well, Ruby is all about fairytales and grand adventures, what suits her better than making that grand adventure?
Which is to say: when the players go off script she gets grumpy about it. She'll roll with it but she'll complain. "Yang I gave you eight seperate story threads and you picked PIRACY? that wasn't one of them do you know how many crew member NPCs I have to roll up now?"
I like to think that canonically the Xiao Long-Rose-Branwen household has played at least one session with Ruby DMing and Yang instantly picked the highest damage output possible and built an Orc Barbarian (Path of the Beast). Backstory? What's that? "Her name's Ember and she's killed twenty people, lets go kill monsters'. I think this should be quite self-explanatory to Yang's beginning characterisation. She wants to skip ahead to the cool fight scenes where she can describe how badass her character is.
Taiyang and Qrow (they're mostly here to support Ruby's interests and don't actually get what's going on but they have a great attitude and Ruby's patient with them) both individually saw 'Bard' and Taiyang saw 'well that looks fun, I can make up lil rhymes' and Qrow saw 'I can be a sex, drugs, rock-and-roll guy that's the epitome of cool' and drummed up a bard duo called where one is an aging punk rocker Tiefling based on all Qrow's fav emo bands as a twenty-year-old and Taiyang saw 'gold dragonborn' and blacked out. They both picked College of Eloquence because it looked easiest. Not much to say about why beyond 'parental support and really trying to understand their kid's interests' which is why Tai is the best parent in Antares and why Qrow- well, sometimes he hits the mark.
Weiss has no fuckin clue what any of this is aside from 'nerd stuff for plebians that I suppose I must join for team building'. Basic first options on the list, human fighter, basic stats, doesn't really get into it for a couple of sessions but once she twigs that the dice is like a numbers game it really catches her interest and she starts looking into it more. She snags Eldritch Knight as her path for access to spells and ends up having a good time. Its a microcosm of Weiss's 'defrosting ice queen' plotline. Once she gets into to she gets into it.
Blake actually read the players handbook for more than half a second and decided she wanted to be creative and have a bit of fun while also quickly making the connection that the party was very tanky, so she decided to create a Water Genasi Sorcerer with the path of Lunar Sorcery, since she thought the options it had were fun and she absolutely did extra reading to decide. Mostly this ties into Blake's early character of, though not looking like it, actually genuinely really wanting to get along with her friends while also rediscovering her interests. She also decides to play an optimist, just to try and have that bit of escapism she so desperately wants. Oh- play as a Tabaxi? No, why do you ask?
Onto JNPR, Jaune has the distinction of Acutally Having Knowledge of This, he strikes me as a 'oh I love D&D podcasts I've always wanted to play it'. His dicerolls are, obviously, fucking horrendous at all times, but he ends up playing as a dwarf paladin, I think, good ol Oath of Devotion. He just wants to do a bit of wish fulfilment as a hero, but he doesn't really push it to the point of being a pure 'must follow all the rules' type of paladin roleplay. He just wants to enjoy having friends and mostly tries to keep things chill at the table.
Pyrrha has no idea what she's doing either but she's trying really hard even though she can't wrap her head around any of it. She picked a Cleric because it seemed nice, she could be the party healer. Life domain, Ruby threw her a softball and said 'that's the healing one' and Pyrrha went 'yep'. She just wants to be a normal girl who plays games with a friend group and also be useful in a way that will keep them from ditching her. Gotta please everyone, and healing- it's nice. Useful. They'll invite her more to play.
Nora wants to be a barbarian too, specifically a Goliath with path of Wild Magic for the chaos because she wants to try derail the campaign like she heard about, but Ruby plays favourites with her sister and tells her to pick a new one so Nora goes sulking through the book again for something else, sees the words 'blood' and 'hunter' next to each other, and goes feral. Order of the Lycan is an instant follow-up. Race? Oh- yeah, still a Goliath. Nora just wants to fuck shit up and be with her friends, there's no underlying deeper character issues. Possibly height envy, maybe.
Ren, similarly to Blake, reads the handbook cover to cover, does his own research, and gets super into the idea of Roleplaying as well. However, he goes full 'how dark can I get away with' and creates a warlock, specifically with a Great Old One as patron. A haunted man, troubled by shadows and loss of the past long before being cursed with a treacherous deal that leads to the nightmares and madness of the present, desperately struggling to hold onto sanity as their patron eats a piece of their mind with every spell he casts. Yanno, standard Lovecraftian horror. Ren's really trying to be dramatic and hoping for a tragic end, where his character is twisted into the secret main villain, and Ruby thinks that would be really cool and is pushing for it if only the rest of the campaign wasn't trying to power of friendship this. Ren's just trying to lowkey work through some stuff, it's fine. It's totally fine. Oh- and he picked Pact of the Tome, he wants more cantrips.
Sun got invited along and was like 'gnome ranger lets fuckin go'. Epitome of 'holy shit I can have a pet dinosaur this game RULES' as a player. Mostly coasting on dice luck but can pull out one HELL of a bit of roleplay when he wants to. It's beautiful. He really wishes this campaign could go on forever, it's easier when the bad guys are just figurines on a table.
Penny is ready and waiting to play but she never gets the chance to join a session. Her schedule just doesn't line up, unfortunately. And she hasn't decided her class- she'll see what everyone else needs for an effective party balance first and then she'll pick one. So she doesn't get to pick a subclass. But she'd really like to give it a try if she could! She'd play a standard human character. No there's no other meaning in her wanting to be a human character when she could be something way more interesting, not at all.
Ruby offered to Sun to bring Emerald along for a session but Emerald said no. F in the chat for Emerald (one day).

The Chinese Cultural Inspirations for Dragon Ball Z and Super
Journey to the West was only the beginning.
Tumblr media
A lot of people are vaguely aware that Dragon Ball was inspired by Chinese culture and Hong Kong Kung Fu movies and novels, but are unaware of how deep and long lasting it goes. The Japanese spent the 1980s fascinated by China, which opened up from being a closed society for decades in 1978; the most famous human being in Japan in the 80s was either Michael Jackson or Jackie Chan.
In fact, a lot of people commonly believe that the Chinese action movie and Kung Fu novel cultural and media influence on Dragon Ball ended very early on. This is untrue. Sure, we started to see qipaos and cheongsams less frequently when they headed to West City, but it absolutely did not finish, because there’s tons of influence to see even as impossibly late as Dragon Ball Super. Interestingly, I don’t think any of these point of inspirations have been pointed out before, mainly because a lot of Chinese adventure novels are simply not available in English.
The Piccolo/Gohan plot was inspired by the Chinese action novel “Heavenly Sword and Dragon Sabre.”
Tumblr media
Okay, tell me if you’ve heard this story before: a truly demonic, weird looking monster villain is defeated by a martial arts hero, but by circumstance, is forced into training his greatest enemy’s young son. The villain trains the young boy, the son of his enemy, in martial arts and over time, becomes like a second father or uncle to him and his family, putting the boy in his “evil” sect, and thanks to his love of his rival’s son, this baddie turns over a new leaf and goes from evil to just…grumpy, and becomes a loyal, though gruff, ally of the boy.
Tumblr media
Of course, the events of Heavenly Sword and Dragon Sabre are a bit different from Dragon Ball in details. The Lion King becomes Wuji’s teacher because they are both stranded together on an island after a shipwreck, for instance, and he is blinded and made vulnerable. Also, the Lion King wasn’t so much evil so much as he was misunderstood by the orthodox martial world. However, in broad outlines, this trajectory for a face turn (becomes friends with his greatest enemy’s son, and becomes like a second father to him as he trains him, causing the villain to become a gruff good guy and ally) is essentially from one of the most famous Chinese novels ever written in the 1960s.
Tumblr media
Oh, and while we’re at it, Gohan is likewise inspired by another character from a Louis Cha novel: the Prince of Dali Duan Yu in the Kung Fu novel Demigods and Semi-Devils. The Prince in that novel is a naïve, pacifistic scholar who prefers books to fighting, and who was raised to be timid and avoid combat, absolutely out of step with his family, all of whom are martial artists and warriors. In fact, the beginning of the story is the prince gets incredibly lost in the wilderness, where the hopelessly naïve prince is utterly out of his depth, with all the robbers and scary beasts, and needs to be saved by real martial artists that protect him like fairy godparents. He spends the first part of the story running away from everything, scared as hell. However, by circumstance, he has naturally high power he cannot fully initially control, and eventually realizes that even scholars and others who hate fighting have to sometimes become fighters to protect those they love.
Tumblr media
The Duan Yu part of Demigods and Semi-Devils was made into a film, the Battle Wizard, which was reviewed by PewDiePie. The Dragonball similarities went over his head because, honestly, PewDiePie does not strike me as a perceptive person.
Hit was based on the screen persona of Chow Yun Fat.
Tumblr media
Chow Yun Fat was a Hong Kong cinema superstar who was to director John Woo what Robert de Niro was to Martin Scorsese. There are three giveaways that Hit was based on Chow Yun Fat. One, he’s an assassin, same as Chow Yun Fat’s character in the Killer, and is even given a sequence that’s a John Woo homage with an assassination in an office building with guns pulled on an empty elevator in an act of misdirection. Second, he’s wearing the single piece of clothing Chow Yun Fat is associated with, a black trenchcoat (fun fact: in Hong Kong today, trenchcoats are called Brother Mark Coats, after Chow Yun Fat’s character in John Woo’s A Better Tomorrow). Third, his power is essentially bullet time, a visual technique refined by John Woo in Hong Kong in the 80s and 90s in his gunplay triad movies starring Chow Yun Fat (what, you think the Wachowskis invented it?).
The Goku/Vegeta relationship is from “Legend of the Condor Heroes.”
Tumblr media
Here’s a story you might have heard before. It’s about two rivals, but by circumstance, one is raised in the wilderness beyond civilization, where he becomes an honest and goodhearted, though overly naive bumpkin, martial arts prodigy. The other is raised a wealthy prince by a conquering enemy, who grows up to also become an armor wearing martial arts expert, but also a cunning, arrogant, emotionally distant sociopath.
Tumblr media
The similarities go into their love lives, too. The unsophisticated bumpkin hero is betrothed to a daughter of a powerful bearded barbarian king against his will, while the one hint of vulnerability and loss of emotional detachment in the otherwise sociopathic prince, the crack in his smirky arrogance, is that he loves a girl he otherwise pretends to hate, and even fathers a child with her who becomes a main character later.
Tumblr media
This is Guo Jing and Yang Kang from Legend of the Condor Heroes. The most fascinating similarity, and proof that female psychology is the same all over the world, is that the fangirls love the emotionally distant, arrogant, and sexy/evil prince (remember when Rhonda Rousey said her first crush was Vegeta?). Girls everywhere love bad boys and sexy villains, and oh boy, do they love Prince Yang Kang. I think you can probably guess who all the fan art is about for Legend of the Condor Heroes, and what ship is the most popular.
Tumblr media
I have to emphasize that Legend of the Condor Heroes, which came out in the 1950s-60s, is possibly the most widely read novel by the most widely read novelist on earth - the sales on that dwarf Twilight and Harry Potter. It’s probably not an exaggeration to say nearly every Chinese person, even if they never read it, knows who these characters are. In fact, Yang Kang and Guo Jing from Condor Heroes are basically repeated over and over in Asian, Chinese, and Japanese culture. Does the unsophisticated but gifted martial arts prodigy bumpkin hero, and the glib, arrogant wealthy prince rival remind you of….another duo of rivals?
Gohan/Videl comes from Little Dragon Maiden
Tumblr media
One of the most important and influential Martial Arts novels of all time is “Return of the Condor Heroes.” A sequel to Condor Heroes, this time, the main character is the teenage son of one of the main characters from the first novel. It gets even more familiar from there.
Tumblr media
“Return of the Condor Heroes” was about a martial arts couple who are also master and student, the same age but vastly different in experience and skill so one somehow seems “older,” and they fall in love because the circumstances of training together requires they spend lots of time together and become intimate. The training story and the love story are exactly the same in “Return of the Condor Heroes.” The dead giveaway one story inspired the other is that in both, the most significant training sequence is one where the master teaches the student how to fly (though Return used a chamber of sparrows for lightness Kung Fu).
Tumblr media
There are some differences of course – obviously in Return of the Condor Heroes, the genders of teacher and student are flipped from Gohan and Videl (it’s the Little Dragon Maiden who is a powerful teacher, and the boy who is the student). It was the girl (Videl) who was a rebellious delinquent in Dragon Ball Z, when it was the opposite in the novel, true. But it was obvious this story was in the back of the creator’s mind as a way to combine Kung Fu with the love story, by making teacher and student lovers.
Tumblr media
Addendum: hey, remember that awesome movie Kung Fu Hustle, the one Hong Kong movies normies have seen? Well, remember the landlord and landlady? The landlady was named Xiao Lung Nu, or Little Dragon Maiden, and her husband was named Yang Guo – the same as the main characters in Return of the Condor Heroes. It was a joke that went over the heads of Westerners, by giving these names of attractive and naïve young people in love with each other to a surly, bitter, arguing and chain smoking middle aged couple who don’t give a damn.
Going Super Saiyan comes from “Reincarnated” aka “Bastard Swordsman.”
Tumblr media
Stop me if this sounds familiar: a terrifying warlord tyrant prone to killing underlings who displease him has achieved a level of skill and cultivation so tremendous nobody can stop him. But there is one, and only one, thing he fears and that can defeat him: a long-lost legendary skill that nobody has achieved in recent memory, that includes a supernatural combat power transformation that turns the hair light to indicate it worked.
Tumblr media
This is “Silkworm Skill” from Reincarnated aka Bastard Swordsman, a novel and TV series from Hong Kong in the early 1980s. Of course, there are differences. To get the power boost and new hair color, the hero has to jump in a cocoon he weaves himself. In fact, the scene is so well known that they actually have it on the poster.
Tumblr media
(To those saying “Super Saiyan turns your hair blonde, not white” my response is that it turns hair white, or uncolored, in the comic book.)
Tumblr media
The idea of your hair turning white to indicate a new supernatural combat transformation or martial state wasn’t created by Bastard Swordsman, though – though it is the best example and probably the one most familiar to a 1980s audience due to the hugely popular books and TV series. For an older example, a famous Chinese movie based on a folktale is “Bride With the White Hair,” about a bride who’s hair turns white when she is betrayed, in her anger, she becomes less a woman and more a supernatural creature of vengeance (interesting that anger should be the means to unlock it).

Bored, so I’m giving RWBY Characters D&D Class and Subclasses
Ruby Rose: Obviously a Ranger--her entire motivation for the first few seasons was just to hunt monsters, so of course she's the class that is dedicated to monster hunting. Since she uses a Sniper/Scythe, I'd say her weapons of choice would be a Longbow for range and a redesigned Glaive or Halberd for close combat. Unfortunately, Rangers don't get Great Weapon fighting as a Fighting Style, so she gets Archery as her Fighting Style--however, she should get Polearm Master, Great Weapon Master, and Sharpshooter as Feats, though probably Mobile as her Variant Human feat, increasing her base speed by 10 feet. As for Subclass, while Hunter would certainly fit her aspirations, the magical bonuses and spells from Monster Slayer fits her Silver Eyes way too much. In addition, going with the variant Ranger feature Deft Explorer, her walking speed would increase by five feet, which in conjunction with Longstrider would bring her up to 55 feet--and, if she were Hasted, 110-165 feet. If only Haste were a Ranger spell...
Weiss Schnee: Weiss is a Wizard--which seems obvious, but it can be a bit difficult because of how varied her skillset is. For one thing, her focus of choice is a rapier--a weapon that no wizard has access to--and for another, her Semblance offers her a ridiculously wide array of powers. However, both of these can be eased a bit if we allow for races--at which point, we could claim Weiss is a High Elf, and as such could be allowed to use a shortsword or longsword with some ease. As for Subclass, Weiss is a Conjuror--yes, she has some evocation skills here and there, but the bulk of her actual Semblance's abilities is in conjuring creatures she's defeated in battle. I don't have as many feats for her as Ruby, though I do think she should pick up War Caster for the buff on Concentration checks, and maybe Defensive Duelist to give her a buff to her AC in combat.
Blake Belladonna: Blake is a Rogue, obviously--and, since we gave Weiss a race, we have to give Blake one--especially considering she's the only one whose race affects her in-canon character. As fun as Tabaxi would be for the cat faunus, I'm actually leaning towards Dark Elf, since it would allow her better Darkvision than even elf!Weiss, and would be a fun nod to the contentions between the Schnees and the Faunus in a D&D setting. For subclass, she has to be Arcane Trickster--her Semblance of Shadow Clone fits too well with spells like Silent Image, Blur, and Mirror Image to pass up the chance for her to use them. I'm not sure what Feats I'd give her, though I'd probably consider Dual Wielder since she does use both the blade and sheath of Gambol Shroud quite a bit, and probably Skulker.
Yang Xiao-Long: Now, this was a bit tricky for me, because while Yang is characterized by her rage, pure Barbarian didn't sit well with me. So, Yang is our first Multi-class character, picking up at least a few levels as a Monk to take advantage of both the Martial Arts fisticuffs and Flurry of Blows. I do think she should probably aim for at least 11 levels in Barbarian, since the Relentless Rage fits in well with her Temper Tantrum Semblance. For Subclasses, it's a no-brainer--Berserker for Barbarian, and Open Hand for Monk, really getting the most we can out of the hand-to-hand combat we're getting. Again, not sure on Feats for her, but I'd hazard she'd make good use of Tough, Savage Attacker, and Sentinel.

The Character Forge: How to Play as Yang Xiao Long in DnD 5e
Tumblr media
When it comes to RWBY, Yang has always shined. For this build, we want to get as close as we can to showcasing Yang’s canon abilities. Yang’s weapon, the Ember Celica, can’t fit in DnD. Shotgun boxing glove gauntlets is just a little too out there for 5e. But that doesn’t mean that Yang can’t still get the general benefits of the item.
Tumblr media
The Makings of a Heroine
As an Anime character (yes, she was made by an American, but country of origin means shit, RWBY is an American anime) I will label Yang as a Variant Human, giving her +1 STR and +1 CON. Yang frequently uses her gauntlets to launch herself into a fight, so Charger is a good feat for her. Otherwise, feats like Durable and Tough are good options for further boosting her CON stat.
Yang is a bit of a carefree loose cannon, only choosing to become a hero as a consolation prize for her real goal of travel and adventure. So, she’s pretty clearly Chaotic Good.
Yang is a trained huntress. A huntress is a government sanctioned soldier and protector of others. She could be a Soldier because huntresses are basically military. She could be an Urban Bounty Hunter because huntresses hunt down Grimm and criminals. She could be a Knight of the Order because she’s a soldier in the order of huntresses. She could be a Mercenary Veteran because huntresses pick up missions whenever and wherever they can. Yang has PTSD, so this could make her a Haunted One. She could be a folk hero because she’s a huntress that protects the innocent. And huntresses also patrol looking for trouble, so she could work as City Watch.
Tumblr media
Powers and Abilities
Everyone in RWBY has something called an Aura. It’s an invisible force field of magic that dampens damage, effectively working like a health bar in a video game. Yang’s Aura is a large part of how she can take such brutal punishments, including being punched through a solid concrete pillar used to hold up a highway bridge and still getting up.
In the world of remnant, people have what’s known as a Semblance, a unique super power. Yang’s Semblance is called Burn. When angry, Yang’s hair ignites and her aura radiates with fire. When Yang takes damage, her body stores it as potential energy which she releases as kinetic energy in her attacks. In other words, the more damage she takes, the stronger she becomes.
Yang’s weapon is the Ember Celica, a pair of shotgun gauntlets. Yang fires rounds of Dust. Dust is a magical natural resource that has elemental properties. Yang’s dust element of preference is Fire dust. When she punches, she fires off a round of fire ammunition, launching literal fire bullets and allowing Yang to punch from across the room.
Tumblr media
Stay Classy
Barbarian     Desert Storm Herald: Yang is known for her temper and being wreathed in fire when she becomes angered, which fits perfectly for this build. Taiyang even directly comments that Yang’s Semblance is basically a super powered temper tantrum.
Fighter     Battle Master: From season 4 on, after training with her father, he reinforces the idea for Yang to fight smart instead of relying on her Semblance as much.     Champion: The Champion focuses on raw power and physical strength.     Monster Hunter: The primary function of Hunters and Huntresses is to fight the Grimm.     Sharpshooter: Shooting fire bullets is a primary component of Yang’s fighting style.
Monk     Sun Soul: The Radiant Sun Bolt is a perfect parallel to Yang’s rounds of fire dust ammunition. If the DM will allow it, you can also change the Radiant damage of the Radiant Sun Bolt into fire damage to better suit Yang’s fighting style.
Paladin    Heroism: Although Yang became a Huntress primarily for fun, excitement, and adventure, she does take her duty as a hero seriously.    Vengeance: Yang is downright aggressive against those she perceives as her enemies.
Sorcerer     Draconic Bloodline: While she’s not literally a dragon, her father does refer to her as “My Sunny Little Dragon”, and she has strong Fire associations.     Phoenix: Like the Phoenix subclass, Yang’s fire tends to wreathe around her when her temper explodes, so this could work nicely for her.     Pyromancy: This subclass boosts her resistance to fire damage and strengthens the damage she deals with fire spells.
Tumblr media
Stats and Proficiencies
Yang’s highest stats are going to be Strength and Constitution. She’s extremely strong and durable. Yang’s also fairly good with Dexterity and Charisma, with Intelligence and Wisdom being a bit lower.
Acrobatics Athletics Intimidation Persuasion

On a failed save, that creature takes 16 Fire damage, or half as much on a successful save.    Reckless Attack: Advantage on attacks using Strength, but foes get advantage on her as well.    Relentless Rage: If your HP drops to 0 while raging, make a DC 10 saving throw to be reduced to 1 HP instead. Add +5 to the DC with each subsequent use until  you rest.    Storm Aura - Desert: When you rage, all creatures within your aura take 5 Fire damage.    Storm Soul - Desert: You can touch a flammable object not being worn or carried by someone else, and set it on fire.
Tumblr media
I initially had Yang as a Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer to boost the damage of her fire, but the need to boost her Charisma stat weakened her Radiant Sun Bolts and gave her more spell slots than there were fire-focused spells, so I decided it was best to just focus on Yang’s martial classes. Would you build Yang differently? How would you make her? And as always, I’ll see you guys next time here at the Character Forge, where heroes are made.

hey Ryder, how was the first session of H&H? (the dnd game)
//I think this is gonna be a series … and one I’m going to have a lot of fun with//
Ryder gave a rather nervous chuckle at the setup Ryuka had put together. He had expected to play with around four or five people. Instead, a sizable number of his harem had decided to join in … possibly with Ryuka’s convincing.
However that wasn’t what made Ryder nervous. Instead it was the large rather ornate looking table obviously from Salem’s castle, that had  1x1 foot panels that flipped up revealing the play area. Ryder made a mental note to ask where Salem had gotten this. Add all the cameras and streaming devices, and Ryder was just about set to wet himself with how nervous he was.
“Ryuka, sweetheart…~” Ryder groaned nervously. “D-don’t you think this is a bit much…?”
“You’ll be fine~” Ryuka said soothingly, while placing her lips to Ryder’s cheek. “A lot of people here are new to the game~”
“Well … who’s our DM?” Ryder asked, before Salem walked past.
The Grimm Queen seated herself at the head of the table, answering two of Ryder’s questions. Salem would be running this session, and yes she had played this game many times before. Especially since they were using a play table that had clearly come from her castle.
“Is every-oh~” Salem smiled, before pulling Savanah into her arms. The young girl was clearly very interested in what was going on. “Oh, you like Mommy’s play table?~”
Savanah nodded eagerly, making Salem’s smile grow. “If you like it now, just wait~ Now everyone, please take your seats and we can begin~”
As everyone sat, Salem snapped her fingers which began their stream. “Now everyone here has created their character, and has assessed their role. But please, tell us who you are, and the name and class of your character~”
Salem gestured to Seras, indicating she should start with the introductions.
“O-oh, well I’m Seras Victoria. And I-i’ll be playing the Half-Elf Gunslinger: Killian.”
Next in line was Yang, who brought her fists together in her signature combat stance. “I’m Yang Xiao Long, and I’m the Orc Monk: Aielister.”
“V-velvet Scarletina, I-i’m a Drow Samurai: Rain.”
“Cinder Fall, I’ll be playing the roll of the Human Necromancer: Quiet.”
Blake’s ears twitched excitedly. “I’m Blake Belladonna, I’m a Tabaxi Rogue named Kei.”
“Sun Wukong, and I’m playing a Half Orc Fighter: Drax.”
Pyrrha gently squeezed Ryder’s hand in reassurance. “I’m Pyrrha Nikos, and I’ll be playing an Amazon Paladin named Dianna~”
Ryder, feeling a small sense of relief wash over him when Pyrrha gave him that small affectionate gesture. “Well, my name is Ryder Argent, and I’ll be playing the role of an Orc Bard named Cedric The Entertainer.”
Sir Integra softly kissed Ryder’s cheek. “I knew you would pick that love~ Anyways, I am Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing. I will be playing the role of a Tiefling Sorcerer I’ve named Meliena.”
“I’m Lie Ren, and I’ll be playing a Human Wizard called Riddle.”
“Nora Valkyrie!~” Nora exclaimed giddily. “I’m a Dwarf Barbarian: Balrog!”
“I am Ryuka, and I’ll be playing the Dragonbon Fighter: Shor.”
“And I’m Kali~ I’ll be in the role of a Tabaxi Cleric: Nyna~”
Salem smiled. “And I am the Dungeon Master for this game~ My name is Salem, and this is my young daughter, Savanah~ Now that we have introductions out of the way, we can begin~”

A Different Sort of Fairy Tale
RWBY D&D AU Muse Masterlist
As a note: All of the characters detailed below will be written as being at least eighteen years or older—there are no minors on this blog, and no sexualizing minors allowed.
Ruby Rose (Human Ranger/Rogue) Born the daughter of a rather well-known adventurer, Ruby was raised on the stories and legends of her mother’s many incredible feats. She was inspired to become a great monster hunter herself, setting off at a young age to prove herself to be worthy to stand in her mother’s shadow. Her idealistic view of the world begins to break down, though, when she learns of the cult that her mother had fought against, and the twisted being that may have been behind her death.
Weiss Schnee (Half-Elf Lore Bard) After years of being treated like a priceless china doll that had to be absolutely perfect, Weiss bucked the expectations of her father and traditions of her mother. Drawn to music and the way that it can bend the very weave of the world around her, Weiss began studying the Bardic arts, and set off once she’d learned enough to stand on her own. She follows in the footsteps of her older sister, blazing a trail for herself in the wild world, and looking to master her craft.
Blake Belladonna (Cat Faunus Assassin Rogue) Blake’s journey has been a complicated one. Once a proud freedom fighter standing up against the bigotry and abuse of her people, the world beat her down until she learned to harden her heart, abandon her morals, in the name of what’s right…until she realized that what she’d given those up for was nothing but a group intent on destruction. Snapping to her senses, she now sticks to shadows, trying to do good to atone for the wickedness she’d assisted.
Yang Xiao-Long (Human Barbarian/Monk) The older sister of the idealistic Ruby, Yang views the world like one big party, and her the star of the show. After her own mother walked out on the family, and Ruby’s mother passed away, Yang grew up with a cavalier and devil-may-care attitude about the world, people she doesn’t know, and herself from time to time. Still, she is driven by one goal—the intent to track down her no-good mother and give her the ass-kicking of a lifetime for walking out on her and her father.
Jaune/Jeanne Arc (Human War Cleric) Coming from a long line of proud and honorable knights, Jaune has lived his life with an incredible weight resting on his shoulders—especially considering the fact that he shows no talent for combat himself. Still, that didn’t stop him from setting out on a quest of his own, intent to do right by the Arc family name, and attempt to fill the role of the next Arc family knight. If only he wasn’t so much better as a cleric than he was at playing paladin…
Nora Valkyrie (Dwarf Storm Herald Barbarian) Life was never easy for Nora growing up—a fact that is hard to believe when you see the absolute bright and beaming optimism with which she sees the world. Nora grew up to never take a loss lying down—she bounces right back onto her feet with a smile every time, and laughs as she turns around and gives life all the hell it tried to give her first. Life’s too short to sweat the small stuff, after all, and she’s much too excited to see what else the world can give.
Pyrrha Nikos (Human Champion Fighter) For years, Pyrrha has been the rising star of the arena fighting pits, a gladiator like no other—the Invincible Girl, some had come to call her. Her skill in combat was unmatched, and she easily bested opponent after opponent…but they were all hollow victories. Her destiny called her elsewhere—out, into the real world, into the wild frontiers of the land, to truly challenge herself. There, she would face the forces against which she could truly call herself a champion.
Lie Ren/Rin (Half-Elf Shadow Monk) As a child, Ren saw his parents murdered before his very eyes, the town he came from ransacked by horrible monsters and beasts. For years, he trained in silence, in isolation—save for the ginger dwarf who insisted on staying by his side. For years, he trained, to become the sort of warrior that could defeat those monsters. Over the years, rage tempered into control, into a calm, honed blade, and he set out into a world steady and ready for whatever it threw at him.
Coco Adel (Human Artillerist Artificer) Coming from a life of wealth and comfort was decent enough for Coco, but from a young childhood she knew she wanted more from life. She had a bright, sharp mind—a mind for inventing and creating incredible inventions, and the moment that she was able to, she set off to study under the best gnome artificers in the kingdom. She has since set out to test her inventions out on the unsuspecting world—all while looking utterly flawless, too, she might add.
Velvet Scarletina (Bunny Faunus Kensei Monk) Though meek and quiet, Velvet is not one without a means of defending herself—her father was one of the townsguard in her village, and she would often watch him and tag along as he protected the walls of their home. When she grew old enough, he taught her in every weapon he knew—and the weapons he didn’t know, she taught herself. She became an expert in every weapon possible, with the pure intent to protect the people that she knows and loves.
Sun Wukong (Monkey Faunus Sun Soul Monk) A charming rapscallion, Sun Wukong is little more than a traveling nuisance to most people who cross his path—his business is in adventure, but his pleasure is in pranks, and messing with people who need a good reminder to stop being so serious. He lives life for himself, seeing all the world that he can, with the eager anticipation to meet back up with his own father one day and share all that he’s seen with him.
Penny Polendina (Warforged Artillerist Artificer) There are few people in this world with as much joy and delight in the simple wonders of the world as Penny. Though, when you are an artificial being who is barely more than a year old, it is easy to find oneself in awe of everything around them. Despite appearing mostly human, Penny is delighted by the pursuit of humanity—of learning what it means to be human, and find her purpose that is uniquely her own in the world.
Summer Rose (Human Hunter Ranger) The mother of Ruby Rose, Summer was every bit the skilled and powerful huntress her daughter remembered her to be. Bright and warm, kind and honest, a bit of a goofball at times, but serious when the moment called for it. She spent her life defending the world from forces of darkness too terrible to describe, but when the chance to settle down came…she felt there was still more to do. Just one last mission, she’d told herself. One last mission, and then I can rest.
Taiyang Xiao-Long (NPC, Human Open Hand Monk) Once a member of a proud adventuring party, Taiyang has learned to take life slow and to savor the soft and gentle things. Kind and gentle, he serves as a protector for the small town he and his companions settled down in—the town where they first met up in and saved years ago. Despite the bright smile and a cheerful personality, there is a quiet grief behind his eyes—the kind a man can only have after losing not one, but two of the loves of your life.
Qrow Branwen (Human Beast Master Ranger) While Taiyang has settled down to a humble life in the town where they first met, Qrow never did rid himself of the wanderlust of his childhood, and continues to travel the wilds of the world in search of new adventurers. There are still monsters to slay, after all, and can he really trust the fate of the world to a bunch of kids? Besides, though he may try to deny it, a there is a small part of him that hopes that one of his treks will take him to his long-lost friend—not dead, just missing.
Raven Branwen (Human Rogue/Barbarian) The older twin sister of Qrow, Raven was always aloof and distant, focused on the mission at hand. She was often sent ahead to scout out the dangers they might face, and report back with the details. Perhaps her disappearance so suddenly was because the danger she found was too great, and she retreated back to her old life as a bandit. That’s certainly where one can find her now—Bandit Queen of the Shrieking Nighthawks, one of the most feared bandit packs in the region.
Winter Schnee (Half-Elf Devotion Paladin) While her younger sister devoted herself to the study of the Bardic arts and to ancient tomes, Winter had set off with a different pursuit in mind. Following in the footsteps of her grandfather—a proud and honorable knight—she devoted herself to the art of combat, and early in life set off to devote herself to the service of the kingdom her family lived in. She fights not for country, though, but for family—to improve her family’s name, and protect them best she can.
Willow Schnee (High Elf Noble NPC) Once the daughter of a kind and proud elven warrior, Willow has withered somewhat as the years have gone by—especially since she’s learned that the handsome young man that she fell for in her youth did so just to get access to her family’s wealth, and that he cared nothing for her. The high elven noble spends her days wasting away in her once lavish family manor, drinking her woes away and counting down the days to her human husband’s passing.
Jacques Schnee ne Gele (Human Noble NPC) A swindler and cheat all around, Jacques has succeeded in lying and cheating his way into a life of luxury and power. He is the current owner of the Schnee Trading Company which handles most imports and exports in the kingdom—a duty that should’ve gone to his wife, but a bit of sweet-talking and some under the table deals, and he’s secured it for himself instead. There is a bit of a problem regarding his choice in laborers, of course, but surely it will solve itself in time.
Ghira Belladonna (Cat Faunus Village Elder NPC) As the father of Blake Belladonna, Ghira cannot help but blame himself somewhat for the way his daughter’s life has gone. He was one of the founding heads of the organization known as the White Fang, and though it started as a peaceful organization, things quickly spiraled out of his hands, and he stepped down—an act his daughter called a betrayal. He continues to strive for equality when he’s not leading their village, and hoping for any news that his daughter is alright.
Kali Belladonna (Cat Faunus Entertainer NPC) After her daughter went missing, Kali fell into a bit of a depression herself—she had hoped that her daughter would come to her senses after a few days, years have passed, and she hasn’t seen her since. To deal with the grief and heartache, the dark-skinned feline decided to return to her passion from when she was younger, and began moonlighting in the local nightclub as a dusky exotic dancer. Before long, word began to spread of the lovely Lady Nightshade.
Glynda Goodwitch (High Elf Arcanist NPC) While forces of darkness and destruction spread strife through the kingdom, there must be someone who at the very least keeps the kingdom running—in Glynda’s case, that would be her. She devoted herself to the study of the arcane arts, learning to build and construct works of wonder with her near fathomless magic…yet now, she has been reduced to a political leader and council member, and the one doing all the work, as well.
James Ironwood (Half-Orc General NPC) While Glynda handles the internal affairs of the city, the imposing and powerful James Ironwood devotes himself to handling the protection and defense of their city and kingdom. Though appearing cold and dispassionate on the outside, James is a man of incredible kindness and gentleness, despite the firm hand with which he handles his forces. He is willing to make the hard sacrifices to succeed, though those sacrifices may break him in time.
Roman Torchwick (Human Criminal Mastermind Antagonist) While the protectors of the city try their best to keep their affairs in order, one certain individual thrives in the growing chaos. Roman Torchwick has built his business in the chaos of mundane life, sneaking away important shipments and selling off the wares for ridiculous prices. Occasionally, he’ll stage a major heist, but really, what he’s most interested in is ensuring that he will survive to see the next sunrise—because, gods, if that isn’t something beautiful to live for.
Neopolitan (Changeling Assassin Antagonist) Most frequently taking the form of a halfling with two-toned hair, the cute mute serves as the loyal lapdog of the criminal mastermind Roman Torchwick. Though not one for many words, her attitude speaks loud enough to make clear her every thought, and she isn’t shy of letting people know when she dislikes them, and just how affectionate she is of her darling Roman. Makes one wonder what might happen if she were to lose him…
Adam/Eve Taurus (Bull Faunus Battle Master Antagonist) When Ghira stepped down, and the direction of the White Fang took a more violent angle, Adam began to grow and relish in the destruction he wrought. Driven by rage and hatred for the people who had scorned him (and his people, but more importantly, him), he grew ever more bloodthirsty and intent on causing harm. His growing aggression pushed his former lover Blake away—though, of course, he lays all that blame at the feet of the humans he despises.
Cinder Fall (Human Warlock Antagonist) As a child, Cinder was at the mercy of a world that seemed to hate her—that spurned and scorned and abused her at every turn. She felt helpless…until she made herself known to her. Until her dark, twisted light enveloped her, and showed Cinder another path, another way. She did not need to be weak and helpless, no—she could be the abuser, instead. She could be the one with all the power. And if it meant the whole world would burn…then so be it…
Emerald Sustrai (Human Arcane Trickster Antagonist) For years, Emerald lived by barely making ends meet—stealing her way through poverty and keeping herself off the streets by just the skin of her teeth and her duplicitous talents…talents that eventually drew the attention of Cinder. She was offered a chance at a new life, one where she would never need to worry about surviving again. Such a tempting offer…how could she say no? Now, looking back on it…she wished that she had…
Salem (Warlock Patron Antagonist) Born from the blight that has slowly spread across this land—once human herself, but cursed to walk a land she now hates with a broken heart. There is no justice in this world, none but what she can take with her own hands. And if this world will not be just to her, then she will leave it in dust, and finally find her rest. She just needs the forces to make this happen—those willing to serve a being of pure wickedness, with pure desire to destroy…
~RWBY OCs~
Russet Vulcan (Dwarf Battlesmith Artificer) Russet did not have an easy road to hoe in life. Born malformed, he was abused for many years, before his family home went up in flames, and he the only survivor. In the years since, he has moved on, learning the art and skill of tinkering, and creating his own mechanical limbs to replace his malformed and now amputated ones. Still, beneath his grizzled visage is a kind soul.
Hozukimaru Wukong (Monkey Faunus Barbarian/Monk) Eldest of the Wukong family and the patriarch were there enough members still around to give that title any meaning, Hozukimaru is a bold and brash adventurer who travels the world seeking thrills, and eagerly shares his tales with his son from time to time. His love of adventure is only outstripped by his love of women, of which he has more than a few to love late into the night.
