bruised heart
summary: you overheard a conversation that your boyfriends were having.
pairing: xavier thorpe x reader x ajax petropolus
âŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠ.
at first, people at nevermore found the relationship between the three of you weird. but over time, they had gotten used to the dynamic. you didnât care about the other people witnessing your relationship because you had the boys. they were the sole reason on how you found out your love languages were physical touch and quality time.
âbye yoko! iâm leaving to meet up with xavi and jax,â you waved to your roommate who you were really close with. principal weems decided to pair the two of you up because you guys were both vampires and yoko was able to help you, showing you the ropes of the school and managing being a vampire better.
you sneak your way through opheilla hall to go to the boyâs hall. looking around twice to make sure youâre in the clear before you were gonna open the door to xavierâs room. xavierâs room was always the spot because he had a single dorm and nobody would interrupt your time together. you go to place your hand on the doorknob as your enhanced hearing began to kick in.
âdude, i think sheâs a little clingy,â you heard ajax say and it made you frown. you never thought that they had a problem with that.
âsheâs also always right up under one of us,â xavier replied to ajax. they both shared a laugh making your heart drop to your stomach. how come they never told you? now theyâre laughing at you, you felt stupid. stupid enough to trust your heart with not one boy but two of them. you let go of the doorknob quietly and back away from the door.
you didnât want to stay for the rest of that awful conversation. so, you turned to sneak your way back to opheilla hall with tears that threaten to come down. once you made it back to your room, you walked in with your head down.
ây/n, youâre back early. did you get caught?â
âum no. i- uh i just wasnât feeling good,â you bit your lip to keep it from trembling any more than it was. the sound of you wavering voice made yoko look up from her phone. she saw you fiddled with your fingers and your posture was slouched.
âare you okay?â you finally look up to face her and a tear slips out. a sign that you definitely were going to start sobbing.
âi walked up to the door and uh overheard them talking about how clingy i was. you donât think iâm clingy right?â your eyes and cheeks glistening with tears while voice began to crack.
âno, i donât think youâre clingy at all. why donât you get changed and iâll be right here to hold you.â you nodded and changed into your pajamas. you walked over to yokoâs side of the room and immediately started crying more when she wrapped her arms around you.
-
the next morning you felt like complete shit. your body ached from the crouched position you slept in, eyes slightly burned from all the crying and your head was killing you. you take a quick shower and do the rest of your morning routine before dressing in your uniform.
âyou ready?â
âas much as i can be, i guess.â you and yoko start your journey together to the quad for breakfast. problem was everyone shared one big table meaning you couldnât avoid your boyfriends if you tried.
you kept your eyes trained on the ground as you took your seat next to wednesday after getting your food. everyone glancing at each other knowing that your normally sat next to ajax every morning while xavier sat in front of you guys. so the two of them took a seat across from you.
âwe missed you last night honey. is everything okay?â xavier was the first one to break the silence between the three of you.
âi wasnât feeling well,â you whispered as you picked at the plate in front of you.
âwhy didnât you tell us? we wouldâve stopped by your-â
âajax i clearly didnât want to see you guys! leave me alone,â pushing the plate away and grabbing your things you walked to your first class. which just so happens to be fencing, a class you shared with the two boys. the table was quiet and nobody moved, it was unnatural to see you guys like that.
âdid she just call me ajax?â
âis that not your name, idiot?â enid is quick to slap wednesdayâs arm and sending her a look.
âitâs not the same wednesday, she always calls us by nicknames,â ajax rubs the back of his neck in attempt to stop the embarrassment. although, through tears last night you made yoko promise not to say anything that didnât stop her from sending glares their way.
-
the whole school day, you managed to avoid them even in the classes you shared. itâs not like you wanted to ignore your boyfriends but it hurt you to even hear a conversation like that. you didnât know how to express your feelings to them, so the best bet was to avoid. the knock on your door pulls you out of your book that you were reading on your bed.
âcome in!â the door slowly opens and in comes your boyfriends who looked like kicked puppies. you rolled your eyes and crossed your arms to your chest.
âbaby, we just wanted to talk,â xavier takes slow steps towards your bed with ajax following right behind.
âwhat is there to talk about?â
âwhy are you avoiding us?â
âmaybe just maybe i truly donât want to talk to you guys. have you ever thought about that xavier?â the boy scoffed at you and shakes his head.
âdonât do that.â
âdonât do what?â
âhe means donât shut us out babe. just talk to us, tell us what happened.â you huffed at ajaxâs words and stood up beginning to pace back and forth.
âhow come you never told me that i was being clingy? i-i wouldâve stopped but no my boyfriends decided to talk about me behind my back. so much for fucking communication, right?â you couldnât stop the tears from falling down your face.
xavier and ajax shared a look now knowing why you were acting like that. they felt guilty because it wasnât their intention to hurt you. ajax closed the distance to grab your cheek wiping the stray tears that fell.
âsweetheart, we love that youâre clingy! we didnât mean it a bad way. in fact, if you stayed longer, you wouldâve heard us agree on how cute we think it is.â
âajax is right. we absolutely love that youâre open enough with us to even be like that. we know about your past and weâre so grateful that you trust us.â xavier was now right by your other side making you cry even more. you had been wrong about the situation.
âiâm sorry, i just thought of the worse and i didnât even stop to talk to you guys,â you spoke in a hoarse whisper.
âcâmon i think weâre in need of a date.â
âjax right now? i look like shit,â you sniffled and gestures to your outfit. you were wearing some sweatpants and a hoodie you stole from xavier.
âi think you look perfect sunshine. put on your shoes, weâre definitely going out.â you pouted playfully at xavier who grabbed your sneakers and gave you a pointed look.
âthis isnât necessary! we could just stay in and cuddle for the rest of the day.â
âwe can do that later. me and xavier need to make it up to you,â ajax grins as you put on your shoes.
you grabbed your book and put it in your tote bag. once you checked you that you had everything, you raised your arms giving both of your boyfriends a small smile, âtada all done.â
âbeautiful. absolutely beautiful,â xavier was the first to wrap his arms around you pulling you into a much needed hug. his embrace was warm and even after only one day, you missed the feeling of being in his arms.
âstop hogging up our girlfriend! i want a hug too,â xavier pulled back to place a kiss on your lips and immediately ajax throws his arms around you. you laughed as the boy hugged you tighter.
âpromise not to shut us out next time?â you nodded your head with a smile at ajax.
âi promise,â ajax kisses your lips and grabs your waist pulling you to the door where xavier stood waiting for you both.
âglad thatâs out of the way, now letâs go to weathervane!â
you were so lucky to have two people that really cared about you and your feelings. although, xavier and ajax called themselves the lucky ones being that they were able to have you in their life.

experimental
pairing: xavier thorpe x fem!reader
summary: due to an influx of female students, you are roomed with xavier thorpe as a sort of experiment. what happens when you become plagued with a frightening nightmare?
warnings: kinda enemies to sorta lovers, cuddling bc duh, there are some things that aren't answered or brought back up so i guess there's a possibility for a part 2 that gets... intimate??
a/n: itâs a cliche and iâm a sucker for it. we're gonna pretend weems never died bc that was a disgrace.
when you found out you would be paired with a guy you thought maybe that meant more storage space for yourself, maybe even youâd get some nice eye candy to look at. but nope. you got xavier thorpe. respectively, he is nice to look at, but heâs also a total jerk.
it started when you first got to nevermore a year ago, before the murders happened. you had been partnered with him on a few projects and he consistently ignored you when you tried to spark a conversation. each opinion you asked him for, he always gave you the shortest answer possible.
you don't think he knows of your involvement with the hyde. you knew of his involvements and interactions, the accusations. you were best friends with enid before wednesday came along. admiring the way wednesday and enid had some sort of magnetic connection, you gave them some space for whatever they had.
what you didn't expect was for her to call for your help the night of the attack. with your ability to manipulate nature, you would be quite a big help in a forest. neither you nor enid could anticipate the ricochet of a tree ripped from its roots being thrown at enid. luckily, you got there in time to knock enid out of the way. unfortunately that meant that you got hit by the tree, rendering you unconscious and in a coma for weeks until weems announced the early ending of the semester.
that night still haunts you in dreams, somtimes while you're still awake when it's been a long day.
regardless, you thought he was petty and maybe just a douche but what tipped you over the edge was when you heard him making fun of you with a few of his friends.
âshe just keeps trying to talk to me!â there was no emotion other than frustration that you could detect in his voice. the people surrounding him began laughing. âis it not completely obvious as to why iâve been ignoring her?â you heard the venom in his scoff, and you became happy his back was turned to you, sure that the look on his face was nothing but smug and smiley.
âdude, youâre screwed,â another person piped in with a laugh. you had heard enough. you swiftly walked away, sure not to disturb anything so you wouldnât grab any attention.
as a result, you treated him as he first treated you. you gave him attitude, short answers, and on occasion some nasty looks.
when you saw xavier thorpeâs unwelcoming face as weems led you to your new room, you were beyond disappointed. you could tell he was too as his eyes widened before his brows rose in an obvious look of discomfort.
âwelcome to your new home for the next semester, ms. y/l/n,â she pat your shoulder before leaving abruptly, allowing you to settle into the room.
âlook,â you sighed as you heard her heels step down the hall. âi know thisâll be more than difficult for the both of us, so letâs just stay out of each others way as much as possible?â
he rose his hands in defense before nodding, âwhatever you want,â he pressed his lips into a fine line.
you rolled your eyes before plopping your bags down beside the bed, letting yourself lay down on it. you could get through this. sure, you wouldnât have a safe place to go to when you needed it. you wouldnât have a quiet place to do homework. but you had a place to sleep and to shower and that was fine.
within a couple of weeks, you had made a schedule. you took into consideration his tendency to sleep in and stay out late. in spite of his best efforts, you did know about the art shed.
everyone knows he loves to draw and he doesnât do it as often in his own room nor in an art room. sometimes he wouldnât even come back at night, which meant he had to have another place to sleep.
one day, you may have gotten a bit worried as to where he was and simply watched which way he went into the woods. after searching for a short amount of time, you found the shed.
bathroom time:
AM
6:00-7:00 ~ y/n
7:00-8:00 ~ xavier
PM
7:00-8:00 ~ y/n
8:00-whenever ~ xavier
you proudly posted the schedule on the window where he often tapes up a few of his pieces, that way he was sure to see it. it wasn't you trying to be snooty and righteous, it was merely just so you could avoid any awkward interactions.
"seriously?" he scoffed late at night, or more in the morning. you sat up in your bed with a roan, making a noise to ask what he was talking about. "you made a fucking bathroom schedule?"
"it's-it's," you took a sip of water that sat by your bed before rubbing your eyes and checking the clock. 3:53. "it's just so we don't accidentally walk in while the other is showering and shit. basically, i can shower from those times and you can do the same."
"so you just want to dictate my life now?" he scoffed as you heard the rustling of clothes, probably his jacket being discarded.
"no, thorpe," you sighed as you threw your head back on the bed. this boy just wasn't getting it. "look, i took into consideration the fact that you like to sleep in. classes start at 8, so you can shower at 7:30 or whenever because you never wake up earlier than that," you sat back up once more and threw your blanket off of you. "and you stay out all night at that art shed of yours, which is fine! but since you're not even in here at 7 i figured it would be fine to just say that the bathroom is reserved during that time, alright?" you were angry now. it's been a while since you've gotten enough sleep, or uninterrupted sleep. and now he's ruined it.
"i didn't know you thought about that," you were able to make out his figure sitting down on the bed. "sorry," he said it so quietly it was almost as if he didn't want you to hear.
"just turn on the light," you instructed him. "i'm not gonna get any sleep tonight anyway," you huffed before grabbing a book from your nightstand, flipping your lamp on to illuminate the room.
"look, i am sorry," he turned towards you with a soft face. "i know how hard it can be to actually get a good nights' sleep," when you made eye contact you didn't see a face of pity, but of understanding.
"it's fine," you turned to your bookmarked page and began reading, although you weren't really taking in any of the words on the page.
"i uhm-i visited you," he added as he now walked over to his desk, rummaging through his sketchbook. you looked up at him with a questioning face. "when you were hospitalized after everything. enid did too, but i just wanted to make sure that someone was there when you woke up."
"you weren't," you shook your head, your focus on the book now dead. "you weren't there when i woke up. nobody was there."
"i went to get something to eat," you heard the smile on his face. "it's so stupid. i missed you waking up because of food. but you hadn't woken up in weeks and nobody knew when you would. i figured i'd grab something and come back and just keep drawing or something while you sleep. but you were awake."
"i didn't think anyone really cared," you shrugged, looking down where your book lay closed.
"i'm sorry you were alone when you woke up, nobody should have to go through that," when you looked back up, he was at the foot of your bed with a sheet of paper. "this is one of the many drawings i made when you were asleep. you should have it."
it was one of you in a coma, but instead of a hospital bed you were in a field of flowers. the nose cannula was replaced with vines, flowers growing from each tendril. you even had a bouquet of flowers in your hand, a crown of them on your head. you didn't even look like you were dying, or close to it. you looked ethereal.
"wow."
"if it's too much, i-"
"no, no," you interrupted with a smile growing on your face. "i-i don't think i would have ever described myself as beautiful, but somehow that's the only word that comes to my mind when looking at this. thank you."
"thank you," he grasped the end of your bedframe before walking back to his own. "i think i'm gonna shower, keeping with the schedule and all."
you nodded, "alright," you were glad he walked away. he couldn't see the tears form or fall from your eyes.
-
you never went to sleep that night. you set the drawing beside your bed and attempted to continue your book, even when xavier got out of the shower. the last thing you wanted was to start to even remotely like the guy you've sworn to hate. if you can't protect your mind, all you can protect is your dignity at this point.
now, three weeks later, everything is going rather smoothly. the bathroom schedule is being kept and respected, your grades are looking good, no nightmares. the thing with your nightmares is that the longer you don't have one, the worse the next one might be. last time you went four weeks without a nightmare, you woke up screaming in a hot sweat. it had now been around six.
not even to mention the horror that would happen if xavier were actually in the room when it happened. you would be humiliated. he would probably yell it to the whole school, how scared you are.
you had been readying yourself. now supplied with essential oils, doing yoga, meditation, and many other fail-safes, you thought you were almost exempt from any sort of nightmare creeping up on you.
another thing you had started doing to help calm yourself was to go on runs. through a distinct path in the woods, the smell of pine and slight floral would calm you.
though, this run felt different. at a certain point, your body felt rigid. the stiffness in your muscles told you something was off on this run. the crunching of the leaves felt less like a welcome home and more like a warning.
after feeling like you were being followed, you turned around to see xavier walking out of his shed. you hadn't realized you were out that far. you stopped abruptly, laughing at yourself for being so afraid.
"god, you scraed me, thorpe," you held your hand over your heart as you took a deep breath.
"oh, sorry," he smiled as he made his way over to you. "what're you doing out here? i thought you'd be in the shower by now."
"wanted to clear my head, so... went on a run," he nodded in understanding. "you planning on coming back to the room to sleep tonight?"
"i guess we'll see," he smiled as he took a step closer to you. his hands found your waist, holding you softly as if you were fragile. maybe you were.
"i guess so," your arms were thrown over his shoulders as he began to lean down, his lips almost connecting with yours before you heard something behind him.
you stopped in the motions, looking behind him to see the hyde making angry steps towards you. you pushed xavier to the side and told him to run. as stupid as guys are, he decided to look behind him to see what was happening.
"xavier, go!" you urged him as you threw a gust of wind towards te hyde, one that would normally knock an army over. "it's not safe!"
"i'm not leaving you!" he stood by your side as the hyde began to launch objects towards you. he had terrible aim.
then, the moment came. a tree that had been uprooted, that would have knocked the hyde down, was now being hurtled your way. with the way it was travelling, it would hit you dead center.
xavier got in front of you, holding your shoulders, "you're alright, y/n! i'm here!"
"xavier!" your body jolted upwards in a panic, your limbs shaking.
when you finally regained your vision, you were met with a frantic xavier. his eyes were looking at you panicked, his hands cradling your waist and face.
"hey, you're okay," he was holding you so soft. you felt safe. "i'm right here, y/n," you realized you were sitting in your bed, him sitting where your legs weren't tangled.
you didn't realize the hot tears trailing down your face until xavier wiped them for you, "you were... you were gonna die. you stood in front of the-in front of me and it was-and we were," he guided your face into his neck as he brought you into a hug.
"it was a nightmare; you're safe now," he pressed a kiss to your hairline as you sobbed into his chest. arms wrapping around his middle, his own arms tightened on your body to make you feel more secure.
you sat there until the sobs subsided. xavier's hands began to trace your back. at some point, your legs became wrapped around his body with you in his lap. it wasn't in a sexual way. it was in a comforting, needing to be near to him kind of moment.
his smell was oddly comforting. it was a mix of the woods he was always in, paint, and sage. you were scared to close your eyes again, to see him being killed. maybe spending so much time with him has made you a bit fond of the guy. maybe more than fond...
"i'm scared, xavier," you sighed into his chest, clutching tighter to his shirt.
"i know you are," he pulled back to look at your disheveled state. "you wanna try to sleep together? i mean like-like in my bed with me. not like sleep together with like... yea. i wouldn't take advantage of you like that. i'm gonna shut up now," a blush washed over his face, turning it as red as you could see in the dim light.
"i would like to," you nodded as a smile creeped up on your face. "if that's alright?"
"of course, of course," his hands raked through your hair, smoothing it down from a probably incredibly messy state. "here, hold on tight," he gripped your thighs as he rose to his feet, walking over to his bedand sitting down.
you rolled over to the side of him and let him get underneath the covers before you followed suit. "can i-can we like... cuddle?"
"why else would i carry you all the way over here?" he opened his arms for you to roll into. you rested your head on his chest, your hands wrapping around his middle once again as his went around your shoulders.
you waited a beat before you fell asleep before admitting, "i think i like you," almost immediately succumbing to the frightful state of sleep
xavier waited until he heard your breath even out, "i've always liked you."

distracted, xavier thorpe
xavier thorpe x reader
summary: xavier couldnât help but do what he wants to do
warnings: itâs literally just fluff, use of baby?
a/n: first fic, please be nice. Apologies for any grammer mistakes oops
â
You could feel his eyes on you every now and then, alternating between his homework that he held up with his hand and you whoâs sitting across from him. You didnât bother to look up, putting all your focus on the essay you had to write as homework.
The library was quiet, only the sound of you and Xavierâs pen scribbling on paper and the occasional sniffing. You and Xavier would always go to the library to finish up the homework you two have for the day. It was your routine even before you and him started dating.
Unfortunately, Xavier isnât the most responsible student. He would often goof around, trying to distract you and would do anything but his homework.
Today was no different.
âAnd⊠done!â You sighed, dropping your pen onto the table and leaning back against the chair. You let your eyes relax for a moment before peeking to see Xavier still focused on his homework. âAre you almost done?â
He bit his bottom lip, ignoring your question, too wrapped up in his work to answer you.
âMaybe we can swap our essays and spot if thereâs any mistakes?â You asked, pursing your lips as you wait for Xaviers response.
He hummed absentmindedly, his eyes never leaving his notebook. You smiled, admiring your boyfriends pretty features when he concentrates. You were proud to see that he was actually putting in effort on his work.
Xavier finally stopped writing, placing his pencil down and picking up his notebook and admired it before giving himself a content nod.
You bounce eagerly, âCan I read yours?â
His eyes finally met yours, a hint of mischievousness behind those eyes. He smirked, clearing his throat as he sat up straight and swapped notebooks with you.
You were practically gleaming with excitement, excited to read his essay and actually feel like you have a real study partner to learn and point out mistakes with.
Until your eyes landed on his notebook.
Your smile has never dropped so fast. Your shoulders dropping, and you couldnât contain the gasp that left your mouth.
A snicker came from the man you were about to murder.
âXavier Thorpe I swear to fucking godââ
ââI love you, baby pleaseââ
ââAll this time I thought you were writing the essayââ
ââYouâre so pretty I couldnât help itââ
ââAnd you were drawing instead?!â
You stared at him incredulously, your nose flaring at him due to how pissed off you were. He was enjoying this, his cocky smile still plastered on his face as he laughed at your reaction.
âIâm sorry, baby. In my defence, I did try to write the essay. I just got distractedâŠâ Xavier said, his hands holding yours as his thumbs rubbed your hands softly.
You blinked at him, sighing as you look down at his notebook to see at the top right hand corner he did wrote a few words before giving up.
âAs much as I want to scream at you right now, this drawing is beautiful,â you sighed with a small smile, studying his artwork.
It was a drawing of you reading your textbook, you nose scrunched and your hair a mess. He managed to enhance your best features, capturing every little detail about you. He was truly talented.
âThank you. Please donât be mad, iâll start on the essay right now,â he said softly, ensuring you arenât upset with him.
You playfully rolled your eyes at him, sighing loudly. âYou better do it or no cuddles for you tonight.â
You ignored his protests as you get up from your seat to find a book to keep you company. Safe to say Xavier was diligently doing his work with a determined face, and within thirty minutes he was done and started begging you for a hug and a kiss.

Period sex with Xavi? Sorry if itâs too much commit hormones are going crazy đ€
warning: 18+ minors dni, smut, period sex, soft sex, blood
towels were laid over the bed, xavier being as gentle as possible.
"is that good baby?" he whispered in your ear, his forearms on either side of your face, holding onto his weight, as his hips rocked.
his lips were all over your skin, pressing kisses on your collarbone down to your breast.
"mhmm." you were the one to suggest it, saying it would help with your cramps and you were right, your legs wrapped around his waist, wanting him to go deeper.
"slow down." he breathed, his hand coming to caress your thigh, "i don't want you to feel any pain."
all the pain had been gone at point, replaced with pleasure. you were moans were soft, constantly repeating in a mantra.
"cum for me." his hand slid between your bodies, rubbing your clit, adding the extra stimulation, finally sending you over into an orgasm.
such as gentle as he was when the two of you were having sex, he was just as gentle during the aftercare, cleaning the two of you up and running a bath.
"feel better?" he asked.
"yeah, might have to do it again though?" you smirked.

he brought you your matcha to your table as you both saw xavier and wednesday walk in.

you heard a knock on your door and opened it, revealing tyler in a white suit.
âhey, ready to make xavier jealous?â he gave you a smirk
âdamn right i amâ you say
-
you two walked in and everyone was staring at you two.
xavier was with wednesday but he couldnât keep his eyes off of you, and wednesday started to notice.
you and tyler went to get drinks, mostly vodka. you had 9 shots already and you were already drunk.
you and tyler went to the dance floor and started to dance to the music.
the music stopped and tyler went to get a drink from himself, you waited for him until you felt a hard grip pulling you outside.
âokay, y/n. can you tell me whatâs going on? whyâd you go with tyler?â
âand whyâd you go with wednesday? stupidâ you giggled and almost fell at his chest but he caught you
âare you drunk?â he furrowed his eyebrows
âno.. you areâ you say
-
he took you to his dorm and laid you down on his bed
âokay, can you atleast tell me why you went with tyler?â
âi tried to make you jealous because you havenât talked to me since wednesday has arrivedâ
ây/n, i was working on a case with herâ
âwell.. i didnât know thatâ
âokay- i have liked you for about 2 years, or more, i want you to be mine only and i want to be yours only. i hate seeing you with other people and it drives me crazyâ he rambled
âcan i kiss you?â you ask
before he could answer you kissed him on the lips and he pulled you closer, the kiss felt so delicate, you have always wanted this and you finally got it.
you broke the kiss to catch breaths and smiled at him.

OKAY, LISTEN, JUST LISTENâŠ
In the quad:
Enid and you arrive to sit with the main group
Enid: âGuys, you will not believe what Y/N just told me!â
Wednesday: âEnlighten us.â
Enid: âApparently she was like, attacked last night!â
(Now at this point everyone is literally confused at what sheâs saying)
Ajax: âExcuse me if Iâm hearing this ALL wrong, but she was attacked?â
Enid: âYep, she came back last night with like a million band-aids on her throat andââ
Xavier: âShe was with me all night.â
Enid: âThen why would she be attacked?â
(Youâre just sitting there, hands in your face as you avoid eye contact with anyone.)
Yoko: âDid she say by what?â
Enid: âNoâŠâ
Ajax: âIf she was with you all night⊠Oh.â
(You give a death glare at Ajax when he starts letting a whistle, patting Xavierâs back.)
You: âShut the fuck up.â
Enid: âI donât get it.â
Wednesday: âYou all disgust me.â
Yoko: âHoly shit, Thorpe. Who knew you had that in you.
(Xavier âs face contorts in confusion before connecting the dots, face turning crimson but smirked in your general direction.)
Xavier: âOh, I know what attacked her last night.â
Enid: âWhat is it?â
Xavier: âA tortured artist.â
You: âXav. Lovingly, shut up.â

Mission accomplished- (x.t)
Pairing: Xavier Thorpe x fem!reader
Summary: You only had one mission. That was to get Enid and Ajax to ask each other to the Rave'n. But you couldn't achieve it without a particular tortured artist's help.
Warnings: fluff. some cursing. (Please let me know if i should be aware of anything else)
Word count: 2k
Is there such thing as too much fluff? with me, never. Feedback is always welcomed! (Itâll make me feel better about spending the whole day on this writing) enjoy friends!
Tortured artist hmâ you thought to yourself. Why was he known as a tormented and mysterious guy? What was his story? The entire quad blurred, and the only thing you appeared to focus on was the tall brunette boy concentrating on his mural. It was beautiful you must admit. He appeared to be completely immersed in his painting. It wasnât the first time you saw him completely fixated on his work. And it definitely wasnât the first time you noticed him.
âUm hello⊠earth to y/n!â You heard snapping as you focused on Enid rather than the boy who had suddenly become a fixture in your mind.
"Yes yes, I heard you. I think you should definitely ask Ajax to the Rave'N" you weren't entirely paying attention to your best friend's 10 minute rant about reversing roles and taking pride in asking a guy to the dance for a change, but you picked up a few things here and there before your mind wandered elsewhere. Something to do with feminism? You weren't sure, but it seemed like a good idea.
You knew both Enid and Ajax had feelings for each other. In fact, everyone knew but they seemed to be the only ones who couldnât see it. Isn't that cliche? The boy likes the girl. The girl likes the boy. They were naĂŻve to the fact that their nerves were standing in the way of everything.
As Enid's best friend since the day you started at Nevermore, you were well aware of her crush on Ajax. It was adorable. She stared at him as if he were the only one who could complement her loud personality. She couldn't get enough of him, so you made it your goal to ensure Enid gets a happy ending. You knew she deserved it the most.
You werenât thrilled about this RaveâN dance the school was hosting. As an outcast in your old normie school, you never got to experience these kind of things. You weren't planning to start now, no matter how much Enid pleaded.
"Are you sure it won't make me look desperate? I donât want to ruin things with him.â Her brow wrinkled in intensity. You knew how much this meant to her.
"I don't think so, E; I think he'll be glad!" You reassured her while comforting her shoulder. "You have two and a half days to gather the courage to ask him," you said, smiling as you collected your books from the table and tossed them into your book bag.
------
The school bell rung, indicating the end of the day's final class. It also marked the start of your master plan. Mission: "Get E and A in the same room... alone."
âPsst hey, Xavier!â You really had no idea why you were whispering in the hallway. There was no one around you anymore as you tried to catch up to the tall and lanky boy. Xavier glanced around, a puzzled expression on his face. Sure, your two best friends were madly in love, but that didn't necessarily mean you and Xavier had to be friends. Acquaintances? Sure. Give each other a quick smile and a nod as you pass in the hallways? Fine. Meet in an empty corridor after class? Never.
"Hey," you finally got to him. Breathing heavily. Your gaze wandered over the attractive boy in front of you as you attempted to recover your breath. Man, he sure was perfect - even from up close. His sage-colored eyes drew you in. His long brown hair had been pulled back into a low bun. Free of imperfections, you thought.
"Did you have a question for me?" The 6-foot giant catches your attention by waving his hands. You shook your head, hoping to clear your mind of your thoughts of him. You were on a mission and were losing sight of it.
"I'm sorry." You took a second look around to make sure the coast was clear. "Enid has been dying for Ajax to invite her to the Rave'n. We all know Ajax is too pussy to ask her. So, I'm thinking we could finally force them to ask each other. tonight. The night shade library. Tell Ajax to meet you there and Iâll do the same with E. This needs to work or I'll spend the next few days listening to her overthink. So, what do say?â Repeating the plan out loud did sound crazy but you didnât care. You wanted to see your best friend happy.
For a few moments, the boy was deafeningly silent. Perhaps you did sound a little insane.
"I'll do anything to stop hearing Ajax talk about his massive crush on her. I canât take it anymore. I'm glad to hear that you're in the same boat as me. How does 7:30 sound to you?" Your expression brightened as your scheme began to take shape. Half of your grin was caused by the fact that this was your longest conversation with Xavier.
You two exchanged phone numbers to ensure the success of your plan. You both decided on the excuse you'd give and the time. Everything seemed to be going according to plan.
It was now 7:15 p.m.
From x.t- 7:15 A and X headed to nsl
With these code phrases, you couldn't help but chuckle. He was taking his role seriously. Gosh, he was so stupid.
To x.t- 7:16 Copy that, x. E is wrapping up and weâll be headed your way
You continued his silly game and stuck your phone in your back pocket.
âHey E, just wanted to say thanks for coming with me to the library. I really need that book for an essay, and I was scared to go alone," you continued your lie, resting against the bathroom door frame.
âOf course! What are best friends for if not to scare monsters away with their colorful claws?" Enid remarked, extending her sharp claws of various colors. She'll forgive your lie once she realizes what the night has in store for her.
After slipping out of your dorm room and into the hallway, the two of you discussed the latest school gossip.
To x.t- 7:28 Â E and I are about to enter. remember our plan.Â
You hit send as the Edgar Allen Poe statue came to vision. Enid snapped her fingers twice, causing the statue to recoil and reveal a stairwell leading to the library. To Enid's surprise, she found herself face to faceâno, face to chestâwith Xavier.
âWhat the heck are you doing here?â She inquired.
"What exactly are YOU doing here?" You were amused by Xavier's stab at reverse psychology. He didn't even wait for the blonde girl to respond before walking away and vanishing into the quad.
"God, he's always so weird," she sneered as she walked down the stairs. You weren't following her down again, much to her dismay. Instead, the statue had been closed. Keeping the poor girl from fleeting.
"She'll thank me later," you reasoned as you dusted your hands. The rest of the night was up to them; your work here was already done. You started walking back to the quad and immediately jumped up in fear as you turned the corner.
âDid it work?â The towering boy emerged. He stuck around to see if your plan was a hit or miss.
You smacked his chest for inadvertently scaring you. "Yes, scaring me worked." You shrieked as you placed your palm over your heart, hoping to slow its pulse.
The giant laughed at your theatrics, revealing his perfectly white teeth. You realized that was the first time you'd ever seen him laugh. He was sexy when he wore the mysterious "bad boy" look, but this was a new look for him that you admired even more. His laughter had to be contagious. You started to laugh at this point, causing your cheeks to grow a crimson pink.
âYes, E and A are both in positionâ you joked with a stern voice. Xavier nodded and walked up to a picnic table in the quad. You didn't fall far behind. He sat on the table, staring up at the sky. The quad possessed a glass ceiling, making it ideal for stargazing. You sat in the typical student seating rather than where your meal should have been put.
âYou see that bright tiny circle up there?â Xavier gestured to the dark sky. You squinted your eyes and followed the path of his finger.
âIs that a star?â You questioned. "It's Venus," he explained. âBecause Venus's orbit lies closer to the Sun than the Earth's, it tends to get lost in the Sun's glare. It's only visible for a few months of the year- when it's the furthest away from the Sun."
You stared at Venus in awe. It made you smile since it gleamed brighter than the other stars in the night sky. You returned your attention to Xavier, who was still gazing passionately at the planet. The fact that he was so familiar with the topic warmed your heart.
"Did you know it gets its name from the Roman goddess? It's the planet of love, beauty, and art," he says, his attention now fixed on you. When his gaze fell on you, you swore your heart skipped a beat. For a split second you wondered if you were dreaming. Or if this was a scene from The Notebook.
âHow do you know all this?â You inquired. Moving alongside him on top of the picnic table.
Xavier shrugged his shoulders and turned to face Venus. "I know little about everything. I can't really tell you how I know things." The mysterious boy spoke up. Tonight was unexpected. Surprising was a better word to describe it. You never imagined it would turn out this way. You and Xavier talking, let alone star gazing. It was all strange and yet soothing at the same time. You felt safe next to him.
âAnyway, are you going to the Raveân?â He leaned back on the table and ran his fingers through his hair, clearing it from his face.
âMe? nah, that's only for the pretty girls who have guys lining up and begging them to be their date. My mission was just to convince Enid to go." You stated the truth. You had no intention of going. Regardless of how much Enid tried to persuade you. You knew it was only a competition for guys to show up with the hottest date and for girls to show up with their finest dress. Not your scene.
âAs a pretty girl yourself - Iâm a little surprised you donât have guys begging you to be their date,â he said standing up. You lowered your head to keep him from seeing the flush on your cheeks and the faint smile that threatened to leave your mouth. Did he call you pretty?
He stood in front of your seated body. Hands shoved deep in the pockets of his hoodie. You could see the cheeky smile he was now giving you as you raised your head.
âWhat?â Your brow wrinkled as you questioned. Small smile still trying to poke through.
"Well," he said, looking behind him. "I guess I'm first in line."
You drew your brows even closer together and tilted your head. You didnât understand.
"Would you be willing to go with me to the dance?"
Yup. Definitely like a scene from The Notebook. You eventually cracked a smile, and you didn't care if he could see the blazing red hue on your face. Although you weren't interested in these events, how could you refuse Xavier Thorpe? THE tortured artist.
"I'd - I'd enjoy that, X," you murmured, giggling slightly. The smile that made your heart sink reappeared on his face.
âYou guys are assholes!â A familiar voice came from the opposite direction. You focused your attention on the gorgon and the blonde girl approaching you. âI was absolutely shitting myself when you left me alone in thereâ Enid playfully tickled your sides when you found your way off the table you were previously sitting at.
Ajax had his arm around Enid's shoulder. You and Xavier exchanged a quick glance as you realized what must have happened. Knowing that your mission was successful.
"Soooo. . ?" Xavier pressed, seeking the answer we already knew.
Ajax chuckled and lowered his head. âYes man, I asked her to be my girlfriendâ
A loud squeal escaped your mouth as you hugged Enid. The two of you were jumping up and down like girls in middle school when their crush passed by them in the halls.
"Wait," Enid said quickly, turning to face her partner, "does this mean we're going to the Rave'n together?" You three were laughing at her. Of course, it meant they were going together, but to be fair, she was excited and couldn't think straight. Her boyfriend nodded while rolling his eyes and returned his arm on her shoulders.
"Well, I guess we'll see you there," Xavier said, his gaze melting you.
"Wait, wait, wait, you two?" Enid extended two fingers in the direction of you and Xavier. Her expression was priceless.
"Are you going to the Rave'n? Together?â Ajax added. If you didn't know any better, you'd think he'd stoned himself based on the shocked look on his face.
Both you and Xavier nodded your heads, a silly grin on your faces. It was now Enid's turn to shriek and draw you in for a hug.
âOh. My. Goodness. My bestest friend and my boyfriend's best friend? We're going on a double date? I can't believe this! I've got to tell Wednesday, she called it from the minute y/n transferred here."
Enid couldn't stop raving about this "double date" for the following two days. You and Xavier joked at the fact that your mission was accomplished, but it came with a new never-ending topic to annoy you with.
Authors note: Quick! guess my favorite planet and why! I started this december 11 and got tired of packing last night so i finished it so i can feed you girlies before i leave on my trip.Â
As alwaysâ requests are always open! Share your thoughts! Talk to me! Get something off your mind! âš

GIRL CRUSH - XAVIER THORPE
DESCRIPTION IÂ you have a crush on Xavier but sure he likes Wednesday, so you take the opportunity to taste him on someone else's lips
PAIRING IÂ Xavier Thorpe Ă fem!reader
WORDS COUNT IÂ 2,3k
A/N IÂ in case it wasn't obvious already, I have a crush on this man and after listening to girl crush, I decided to try and write for him. I hope it's worth it đ
You felt stupid. Stupid. The stupidest person in the world.
It already wasnât easy living in Jericho. It was worse to not have any power when you were living so close to Nevermore. And the worst part was that most of your friends came from the school, meaning you had to deal with all their abilities. While your only ability was to make good coffee. Ugh.
But all of this wasnât enough for you. Of course not. You had to fall for one of these outcasts, as they call them. You wanted to scream at that thought. How could you been so stupid to let your heart guide yourself there?
Deep down, you knew it wasnât entirely your fault. Like, you couldnât blame yourself for Xavier Thorpe being this nice, right?Â
It all started when Xavier started coming at the coffee. He was the one taking command for all his friends. You noticed how he was always drawing some stuff on the recipe you gave him. Some were darker than the others. The situation was the same every single time: Xavier was too lost on his drawing and his mind that he only looked up when you came back with all the drinks. Then, he managed to grab them all and let the paper on the counter, forgetting about it immediately.Â
But you didnât.
You kept all his drawing. It was art and you would feel terrible throwing them away. You always put the one in your apron and, most of time, forgot to take them with you when you were leaving.Â
After a few meetings, you started to talk and discovered some things about each other. He learnt where you were going at school and which majors you wanted to do after that, and you learnt how he was putting his hair behind his ear when he was getting nervous and how he had the most precious smile you ever seen. Among others important things, of course.
âShit, [y/n] can you give me a pen and some papers please?â You were talking when Xavierâs phone starting rigging. You had no idea who was calling him and for what, but it seemed important enough for him to need to write it down.Â
Of course, you looked in your apron to give him what he needed. And, of course, what you took out was all the drawing you kept with you. To say you were red would be a euphemism. Xavier looked at you with an amused expression before taking one of the already used paper to write the information he needed. You were this close to run away before he finished his called. âSoâŠyou kept them?â he asked you.
You looked innocently, like you didnât understand what he was asking. When he started to laugh, you immediately looked down again. You felt stupid. But when Xavier slowly put his hand on your check and encouraged you to lift your face up, you didnât feel anything anymore. âIâm glad you liked them.â He said softly. He then brought his face closer to yours, which almost made you faint, to whisper in your ear. âAnd they come with a little surprise.â
That was how you discovered Xavierâs power.
Not long after that day, you started to hang out with his friends. They were allâŠpretty amazing, you had to admit. You hated the fact they were all magic and everything and you were just⊠you. But they all made sure that you never felt inferior, or not that much at least. And they did a really great job for that. Being with them was entertaining and interesting and you got to spend more time with Xavier, so yeah, no complaining.
Except for one thing. You really thought there could be something with Xavier after that day at the coffee. Especially when he started to offer you his drawings directly and to imply that he was thinking about you when he was doing them. You could tell it was less dark than before.  And you thought it meant something.
But then you saw how he was around Wednesday. He looked at her like he would protect her against everything. You quickly noticed how he was always by her sides. When he wasnât beside her, he was always making sure he could see her.Â
You liked Wednesday. She was a great friend. You liked how she was never pretending to be someone else and was always honest with you like she was with the others. You really, really, appreciated her.
But you were still jealous.
And there you were. At a party surrounding by everyone. And watching Xavier talking to Wednesday like he always did. You were almost leaving when Enid stopped you. âWeâre going to play some game, come here!â and it wasnât an invitation. It was mostly to tell you where she was taking you since she grabbed your hand and made you follow her through the room.Â
And they were all here, sitting on the floor in circling. You had a bad feeling about this. âIs thisâŠsome kind of truth or dare?â you asked.Â
âExactly!â Ajax answered. âExcept we can know if you lied.â You sighed at that thought and sat at the only empty space free: right in front of Wednesday and Xavier. She kept looking at you and you offered her a gentle and sincere smile. You couldnât not like that girl. You simply wished she wasnât stealing your crush.
The game started and it was pretty entertaining watching magic people play that. But of course, as a human, your dare ended up being prettyâŠordinary, you had to say. âKiss the person you find the prettiest in the room.â Bianca dared you.
You knew why she did that. But you couldnât do what she was excepting. You couldnât risk revealing your feelings to Xavier and being rejected in front of everybody. And losing him.
So got up. And walked. To Wednesday. You grabbed her face and kissed her without overthinking it. You heard some gasps but only focused on her lips and the way it took her a few seconds before she put a hand on your neck. It didnât last long but it did mark the night for sure.
âThat wasâŠunexcepted. But interesting.â She said, thinking about your kiss while looking at you. Like they were doing right now. Including, Xavier who seemed more confused than ever.
You couldnât handle all these eyes on you and run away from the party for good this time. You could already feel the tears growing in your eyes from the stupidity on your action. You had to stop for a second, just to check where you were going. And it was enough for Xavier to catch you. âHey, where are you going?âÂ
You could hear the amusement in his voice which made you pushed him away. âLeave me alone.â You mumbled, already walking back. But it wasnât like Xavier was going to let you leave like that. Not after he saw how upset you were. So he took your hand slowly this time, but with enough strength to make you stop.Â
âTalk to me. What happened there? Why did youâŠwhy?â he couldnât contain the little laugh at the end because it still seemed unreal to him that you kissed Wednesday. Not that she wasnât attractive or anything, he would be lying if he said anything like that. But he was 90% sure to know who you were going to kiss. And it wasnât the girl with the black hair.Â
âI donât know, ok! I mean. I do. ButâŠI donât want to tell.â You tried to cross your arms on your chest but since Xavier was still holding you, you just brought him closer to you. You loved how he was caressing your wrist slowly, making you feel protected. You almost gave in. Until you remembered why you were in that state. âIâm sorry for kissing your girlfriend, ok?â
âMyâŠwhat? No!â Xavier was confused and amused at the same time and damn you hated him for having such a beautiful smile. âWednesday is not my girlfriend. Sheâs just my friend.â At the same time, he wondered what could have made you think that he was dating her. Was he that bad with girls that you imagined things like that?
You sighed. âThen why are you always with her? Youâre always next to her like youâre scared for her, like you need to protect her like sheâs your girl! You always have an eye on her andâŠI donât know, I think like I donât exist when sheâs there.â You hated opening your heart like that, specially because you were sure you sounded pathetic. Xavier was going to laugh at you and said you were miserable and leave you alone, right?
Instead, Xavier put his other hand on your check like he loved to do and started to caress your skin with so much tenderness you almost melted. âI like her, sheâs one of my closest friends here. So yeah, I want to protect her, and I always will. But if you had paid more attention, you would have known that I was always looking at you.âÂ
âNo, you donât.â you replied, frowning. You were looking at Xavier way too much to know that. You would have notice, right? Or were you too concentrate on your jealousy to see it?
âYes, I do.â He laughed, pinching your wrist which made you groan before laughing too. And just when you thought everything was back to normal and you could get away with your stupid idea for that kiss, something seemed to light up in Xavierâs mind.Â
âWaitâŠdid you kissed Wednesday because you were jealous and thought that I was with her?â
You knew it was pointless, but you tried to run away, again. But again Xavier just pulled on your arm to bring you to him. This time, you ended up against his chest and as comfortable as it was, you had to look up to spill the truth. It was almost like the words didnât want to stay in your mind.Â
âIt sounded better in my head, ok? But I thought that I couldnât kiss you because it would have been too obvious that I like you too much so I decided to kiss her so I could taste your lips on hers andâŠâ you didnât get to finish that sentence.Â
Because Xavier gave you exactly what you were looking for during your kiss with Wednesday: a taste of his lips. He was just like you imagined him to be, soft and dominating at the same time. Like he was controlling every little second of that kiss, from the way his lips were moving on yours to how his tongue made in his way into your mouth and his hand was holding your neck to keep you close. But he was soft too with the way his hand was still brushing your wrist or how you could feel a smile growing on his lips like he just realized what he was doing.
Once he was done, he gently put his forehead against yours and brought his hand from your neck to your check. âYou could have asked; I would have given you a taste earlier.â He had this sweet, charming voice. And behind that flirty smile, you could tell he was sincere. You should have asked or be confident enough to kiss him. You wouldnât have lost any time overthinking his interactions with Wednesday. You could have used that time being in his arms earlier.
You put a kiss on his nose which made him laugh softly. âI know for next time now.âÂ
âWhen is next time?â He asked, frowning. Because if your first was quite chaotic, but memorable, what you didnât imagine was that Xavier was dying to kiss you for weeks now. He had tones of drawings reminding him of you in his room until you started talking to each other. He dreamt about you so many nights that he guessed some people from school you knew about it. And, well, Wednesday was the perfect annoying friend reminding him that he still hadnât try to get you and that he might lose you if he never does.Â
If it was up to him, he would be kissing you all the time. But he guessed now he had all the pleasure to make up for the lost time.Â
âWhat about now?â You offered.
You stayed like that for a few more minutes, just flirting together and kissing each other a lot. You couldnât resist Xavierâs perfect lips. When a moan escaped his lips the one time you hold his hair, you knew you had so many things to try with that boy. Just like you felt his hands exploring your body with fineness, like he wanted to remember your curve to draw them.Â
In the end, you decided to go back to your place. You didnât want to ruin the party more, even though Xavier kept telling you that you werenât ruining anything. âJust tell Wednesday that sheâs a good kisser and itâs not her fault I didnât chose her.â You laughed, but still wanting to make sure you didnât lose a friend in the process. And then you started to walk home, your head full of thoughts about a guy with long hair, a beautiful smile and magic hands.
âOh, and by the way.â You turned around to look at Xavier. He was standing against a tree, his arms crossed against his chest. You wanted to run and hug him one last time, but you stayed there, appreciating the picture. With his messy hair and the genuine smile on his face. âI like you too much too.â This time you couldnât resist and went to steal one last kiss from him.
Maybe you were stupid. But at least you were stupidly in love with the most wonderful guy you knew and that was worth it.

summary:Â you and xavier were rivals through and through, but when you find out that he wants to talk to you about 'feelings', you do everything you can to avoid him
âââ -ËË *.·:·.â.·:·.* ËË- âââ
Being able to temporarily transform objects into other objects was fun for the first day or two, but the novelty wore off fast. All in all, it was a pretty pointless power, in your opinion. It was great if you had a bowl of soup and only a fork because for five minutes, you could turn that fork into a spoon, and then you had soup. Sadly, that situation had only happened once. You had no real need to use your powers for anything else, so you usually just didnât even acknowledge them.
That didnât stop your parents from classifying you as an outcast and sending you to Nevermore. The moment they realised you werenât ânormalâ, they wanted you out of their hair. Your very existence challenged their picture-perfect lifestyle.
However, with a power you rarely used, you never felt like you fit in much at Nevermore. Enid really tried to make you feel like you belonged, and as much as she would deny it, so did Wednesday, but everyone else mostly ignored you.
Everyone, that is, but Xavier Thorpe. You werenât sure what exactly had happened on your first day at Nevermore that had triggered the chain of events. Maybe it was just because you were both having a bad day. Maybe Mercury was in Gatorade or whatever. All you knew was that you locked eyes, and that was it; you were rivals.Â
It was a particularly active rivalry, not like the rivalry between Wednesday and Bianca when Wednesday first joined Nevermore. It was subtler than that. It consisted of a lot of knocking one anotherâs things on the floor, eye rolls, purposely bumping into one another as you walked by, and glares from across the room. People wouldnât notice it if they didnât care, and most people didnât care.Â
When part two of your powers suddenly emerged one day, you werenât all too thrilled. In all fairness, being able to shapeshift yourself into another person was a lot more useful than shapeshifting objects. Of course, it lost a lot of use if people knew about it, so you told no one.Â
It was your intention for no one to know so you could do more, but the world clearly had it out for you, and one day, Enid walked into your shared dorm and caught you shifting into someone. Naturally, when Enid knew, Wednesday also knew. You managed to buy their silence with the promise that they could utilise your powers for their own gain.Â
That was how you had found yourself one afternoon, shapeshifted into Ajax as you rifled through his room and took pictures of all of his hats. It wasnât exactly the direction that you had imagined your life would take when you were a kid.
Ajaxâs birthday was coming up, and Enid was hellbent on making sure her friend got a good gift from her. Scratch that. Not just a good gift, but the best gift. She wanted to crochet him a hat, but she wanted to make sure it wouldnât look anything like the hats he already had. Hence why you were now rooting through every hat he owned while taking pictures.
You had kept tabs on his movements for a few days to make sure you knew when he or his roommate, Kent, would be off doing other things, leaving their dorm room free. Fortunately, their extracurricular activities mostly lined up, so they would be off at their respective clubs right after class, giving you the perfect time to strike.
After a couple of minutes, you had taken about 28 pictures to make sure Enid had all she would need and would be satisfied. You didnât feel like having to repeat this process if she wasnât happy with your work, so you went with what you would consider to be above and beyond.Â
You closed the drawer and darted towards the door, phone in hand. Internally, you celebrated your achievement. Unfortunately, that celebration ceased as karma evidently had it out for you. When you opened the door, you came face to face with Xavier Thorpe. It was a bit of a shock to be face-level with him, but it reminded you that you were disguised as Ajax, so you needed to be careful with how you behaved around him.
âGood,â Xavier smiled, recognising you to be his friend rather than the rival you actually were. âYouâre here!â
âUh, yeah!â You desperately tried to recall how Ajax spoke. You didnât spend as much time around Ajax as you had with your other friends, usually because Xavier was usually close by if you did, and as much as you appreciated Ajax as a friend, it wasnât enough to put up with Xavier. âSorry⊠dude⊠Iâm actually on my way out.â
âI just need to talk to you real quick,â He pleaded, blocking the way so you couldnât leave the room. âItâll be two seconds, I swear- is that⊠why do you have Y/Nâs phone?âÂ
Shit.
You considered trying to hide it and lying to Xavierâs face in hopes of gaslighting him into forgetting you, as Ajax, were holding your phone. But that wouldnât go down well. As much as you hated to admit it, Xavier was smart. Youâd just be digging yourself into a deeper hole, and you were already almost 6 feet under if you couldnât get out of the situation soon.
âThatâs why I have to go!â You lied, pulling the explanation out of thin air and hoping for the best. âI found it and need to return it to her.â
âRightâŠâ He didnât sound like he entirely believed it but didnât push for any further information, such as where you had found the phone. âSheâs actually why I wanted to talk to you.â
âWhat happened this time?â You echoed the words Enid would use whenever she saw you with that sour look on your face that only Xavier could be behind. You figured Ajax and Xavier had similar conversations regarding you since, as far as you could tell, Xavierâs thoughts towards you mirrored yours towards him.Â
âNothing this time!â He protested. You scraped your brain to see if you could remember anything yourself but came up empty. Things between the two of you had surprisingly been okay for a few weeks. You werenât all buddy-buddy, of course, but the glaring was at an all-time minimum. You made a mental note to glare more if it meant you didnât risk having to talk to him. âI just⊠I think Iâm finally going to tell her.â
âThatâs⊠uhâŠâ You hesitated as you were about to say âgreatâ but realised that you had no idea what he was talking about and that maybe Ajax would consider it to not be great. âWhat exactly are you going to tell her?â
âDude, donât make me say it,â He groaned. You kept quiet, simply shrugging in response. After a few seconds of silent pleading, he gave in. âIâm gonna tell her how I⊠feel.â His words got quiet until he finally whispered the last word.
You were at an absolute loss. You had no context for what he was saying, but you couldnât push any further, or heâd get suspicious. For all you knew, he was hinting at telling you that he felt like he was coming down with a cold, although why he would feel the need to tell you that was another issue. You had no idea how Xavier was feeling, and you didnât really want to find out.
âThatâs⊠cool!â You nodded, trying to seem as chill as you could while you panicked internally, looking for an excuse to get out of the situation before your powers wore out and you turned back into yourself. âBut maybe you should wait for a bit?â
âWait?â Xavier looked at you like you were crazy, and you realised youâd messed up. âYouâve been pushing me to do this for months, and now you think I should wait?â
âThat was⊠a test!â You shrugged as nonchalantly as you could. âTo see if you were really serious about this or if you would chicken out.â
âI seriously think that I should do this now before I chicken out,â He sighed, almost dejectedly. You couldnât quite put a pinpoint in on his emotions. Nor could you figure out what the hell the conversation you were participating in was even about.
âI should really go and return this to Y/N before I forget,â You held your phone up and waved it around slightly. âYou know how she can get when sheâs lost something.â
âIâm still cleaning up my studio after she lost her notepad and accused me of stealing it,â Xavier groaned. You almost slipped up by arguing with him that you had barely moved anything, and you were completely valid in your belief that he would have stolen it. Fortunately, you caught yourself just before you blew your cover, and Xavier continued to talk. âWe can just go together.â
âTogether?â You echoed, trying desperately to dig yourself out of the hole youâd created. âWonât that be⊠intimidating?â
âY/N? Intimidated?â Xavier scoffed at the idea, and you werenât sure if you should take pride in it or be offended. âA bear could point a gun at her, and she would laugh in its face.â
âIt probably couldnât even pull the trigger,â You noted, earning a strange look from him. âYou know, because of the paws and claws- never mind. Not important.âÂ
âRightâŠâ He nodded hesitantly. âLet's go.â
You had no choice but to follow as he led the way to your room, halfheartedly responding to whatever he was mumbling about without truly listening to anything he was saying. You were worried the powers would wear off at any moment. You considered ducking away, but with the glances back that Xavier was giving you as he spoke, that option was, at best, a risky manoeuvre and, at worst, a terrible fucking idea.
So, you helplessly trailed after him, hoping that the real Ajax wouldnât appear around each corner you turned. Fortunately, you made it to your dorm without any issues and let Xavier knock. Enid opened the door within seconds, her natural smile dropping and her eyes wide as they darted in between you, trying to assess the situation.
âWeâre here to speak to Y/N,â Xavier told her before she could ask any questions.
âI have her phone,â You held it up, trying to communicate to Enid through facial expressions that you were you, not Ajax.
âSheâsâŠâ You watched as Enid struggled to lie. âIn the bathroom.â Your eyes widened, and you shook your head, thankful that Xavier had taken the lead and stood in front of you so he couldnât see your face or small gestures. If you were in the bathroom, Xavier might insist on staying around until you were done. You saw that going in two directions, either your disguise would fade, or Xavier would think youâre in the bathroom for an alarming amount of time. Both options sucked. âUh⊠No! Sheâs not! That was⊠earlier! Sheâs actually in the library right now.â
âOkayâŠâ Xavier nodded slowly, clearly not quite believing Enid but not enough to call her out on it. âWeâll head there then.âÂ
âEnid! Didnât youâŠâ You hesitated for a second, trying to pull even more lies out of thin air. âDidnât you want to talk to me about that super important thing? Like⊠right now?âÂ
âYes! I did!â She nodded along, reaching her arm out to pull you into the room. âIn private! Bye, Xavier!â
âSorry, man!â You managed to call out as Enid slammed the door behind you, right in Xavierâs face. You held your breath as you heard him groan loudly before his footsteps echoed away from the door. You felt yourself morph back into your normal form and allowed yourself to breathe a sigh of relief. âWhat just happened?â Enid asked, her hand on your shoulder as she assessed you.
âI opened the door, and he was just⊠there!â You sighed, practically falling into Enid to give her a hug of relief and thankfulness for helping you scramble your way out of that mess. You pulled away and carried on talking. âHe saw me with my phone, so I had to lie, and then he just started talking to me, and I couldnât figure out how to get out of it.â
âWhat was he even talking about?â She asked, allowing some laughter to slip out. âWhy did he want to come and talk to you?â
âI donât know!â You threw your hands up. âIt was a blur, and I was panicking! I think he said something about telling me about how he feels and-â
âHow he feels?â Enid interrupted you, her mouth wide open in shock. âHow he feels?â She repeated the words as though she was making sure she was getting them right. âYou know what that means, right?â
âItâs not-â You could see where her mind was going. You hadnât even considered that to be an option, and you still didnât. âHow he feels is probably something like⊠hatred! Or⊠loathing! Maybe he just wants to declare all-out war?â
âI think he wants to declare that heâs in l-â You cut Enid off by throwing your hand over her mouth.
âAnother word and Iâm shapeshifting into you and dancing in the quad in the pyjamas your mom sent you that you made me promise I wouldnât ever mention again,â You threatened. You watched her eyes widen again. âI know you kept them in the box under your bed even though you said you had thrown them out.â You pulled your hand away as Enid licked it, wincing and wiping her slobber back on her sweater.
âFine! I wonât say another word!â She held her hands up in surrender, dropping them slowly with a small, knowing smile. âBut do you know who will say another word about it?â
âNope! Iâm avoiding him!â You shook your head in protest. âMore so than I already do. Iâm double avoiding him. Maybe even triple avoiding him?â
âYou wonât be able to avoid him forever,â Enid shrugged, a smug smirk on her face.Â
âWatch me!â You challenged. She didnât respond. Instead, she slipped your phone out of your hand and unlocked it with ease to scroll through the pictures you had taken of Ajaxâs hats. You werenât sure when sheâd added her face to your phoneâs face ID, but your mind was too preoccupied to be annoyed.Â
You had to avoid someone you had been trying to avoid for over a year. It would be easy.
âââ -ËË *.·:·.â.·:·.* ËË- âââ
It turns out that trying to avoid someone when they are actively trying to seek you out was a lot more difficult than avoiding someone who was avoiding you just as much.
Xavier was more persistent than you had anticipated. You had spent the past few days hiding around corners and running out of class with a speed you didnât know you possessed. Wednesday had opened the door to your shared dorm to find him there a few times, but she knew better and just shut it in his face. The one time Enid had opened the door ended up with you climbing out the window and scaling down the side of the building using the water pipes. By that point, Enid had decided you were taking it too far and had decided to actively try and sabotage you. Sheâd point him in whatever direction you had run off to.Â
That was why you had spent an hour and a half hiding under a desk in the library, 28 sudokus in, 7% battery left on your phone, and a dead leg. In an attempt to hide yourself from Xavier as fast as possible when he had reared his annoying head around the corner, you had left your bag on the table. He had spotted it and apparently decided that you would inevitably be back for it and had sat at an adjoining table to the one you were hiding under. Eventually, you admitted defeat and tried to time your escape for when he had his head turned.
In your head, you were in an action movie, army crawling out from the desk, completely undetected. However, the image in your head was a lot more fantastical than the real-life image of you awkwardly shuffling out from under the table, pressing yourself to the floor in an attempt to become invisible.
âI was wondering when youâd give up,â Xavierâs voice alone sounded sickeningly smug. You peered around the leg of the desk to see that he was looking directly at you. âIâm impressed you stayed under there for so long.â
âYou knew?â You groaned, peeling yourself off of the floor, wiggling your limbs to breathe life into them again. You winced at the feeling of pins and needles in the leg that had been dead for five minutes. âWhy didnât you say anything?â âAt first, I was just going to leave you under there for ten minutes, but I wanted to see how long you would last,â He had stood up from his seat to pick your bag up from the desk. It instantly registered in your mind that he was holding it hostage so you couldnât run and escape again. Not that your leg would have allowed you to escape, as it had gotten to the overwhelmingly fuzzy part of pins and needles, and you couldnât put any weight on it because it felt too weird. âEnid and I had a bet. I thought youâd give up after twenty minutes, but I guess she knows you better because she hit the nail on the head with an hour and a half.â
âUnlike you, sheâs my friend, so Iâd hope she knows me better,â You huffed. âThough at this rate, she wonât be my friend for much longer⊠Can you please just give me my bag back?â
âCare to explain why youâve been avoiding me first?â He held the bag up and away from you, though you hadnât taken any steps towards him, so it hadnât been within your reach anyway.
âI havenât been avoiding you,â You lied with a shrug.
âYou just hid from me under a table for over an hour,â Xavier pointed out, looking at you with a sense of disbelief.
âBold of you to assume I was hiding from you,â You fired back. âMaybe I just liked it under there? Maybe I make a habit of hiding under desks?â
âReally?â He didnât believe you for a second but played along. âSo why havenât I seen you doing it before?â
âFirst off, I donât appreciate that your wording insinuates you watch me often, you creep,â You pointed accusingly at him. âSecondly, thatâs the whole point of hiding. I wouldnât be doing a good job of it if people saw me.â
âSo what changed today?â He challenged. âAre you just not on your A game? Or maybe⊠maybe you wanted to be seen?â
âMaybe you should shut up?â It was a childish comeback but the best you could muster up. âItâs hard to hide from someone who is apparently hellbent on finding you.â
âThis is a library,â The librarian had appeared next to you without you realising. She seemed to have taken Xavier by surprise too. âPlease continue this⊠loud discussion outside so as not to disrupt everyone else any further.â Looking around, you realised that the library was empty. There was no one to disrupt. You were about to challenge her on this, but Xavier had grabbed your arm and started pulling you towards the door before you could so much as open your mouth.
It was strange for Xavier you be making any sort of prolonged physical contact with you. But what was stranger was the fact that you werenât physically repulsed by it. Thatâs not to say you were happy or even just fine with it, but you were allowing it to happen, and you werenât sure why.
You expected to continue the conversation outside the library, but before you could register what was happening, Xavier was pulling you through the halls and outside. Not a word was shed between you during this time. You knew exactly where he was heading.
Within minutes, you were at his shed or, as he insisted everyone call it, his studio. He unlocked the door with ease and pulled you in, finally letting go to close the door behind you and lock it from the inside.
âIs this a kidnapping?â You joked, unsure what else to say or do. âI warn you now; my parents arenât going to pay a ransom for me⊠Actually, come to think of it, they might pay you to keep me.â
âYouâre free to leave whenever you want,â He turned back around to face you. He seemed nervous, which in turn, made you nervous. The issue with that is that whenever you got nervous, you tended to talk⊠a lot.
âYou say that, but you just locked the door, and youâre also standing in between me and the door, so I would have to try and dodge past you to get to the door, and you have very long limbs, and this shed- sorry, studio- this studio isnât very big, no offence but also I donât really care if I offend you or not so Iâm not sure why I even said no offence in the first place. No offence is such a terrible thing to say because it just means you know whatever youâre about to say or have already said is offensive, yet you still chose to say it, and you have just openly acknowledged that what you said was offensive, so you canât even try and pass it off as though you didnât realise that the words you were saying were offensive and-â You rambled on and on until Xavier finally saved you from yourself by interrupting you.
âSpeaking of words, youâre saying a lot of them,â He teased. The smile on his face directed towards you was a foreign one. Usually, you were met with a scowl that mirrored your own, yet now your expression mirrored his as you felt the corners of your mouth betray you as a smile graced your face. âIâm pretty sure I was the one who wanted to talk to you, and you wanted to avoid that.â
âMaybe this was all part of my master plan?â You shrugged playfully. It felt strange to joke around with him, but not unpleasant. âIf I talk enough, youâll never get a word in. Eventually, Iâll bore you to sleep and then I can escape.â
âYou could never bore me,â The words felt like they got stuck in your chest once youâd heard them. There was a foreign tenderness in them. âYou could talk for hours, and Iâd listen to every word.â
âSounds like a challenge,â You turned around in a feeble attempt to hide your face as you had felt your cheeks flush. âIâve never spent any time in here⊠Itâs nice⊠quiet.â
âComing out here helps me clear my head,â You could hear that heâd stepped closer to you, looming over your shoulder as you assessed the variety of paintbrushes on his desk. Some looked significantly more used than others. âSometimes Nevermore is too loud.â
âI feel that,â You agreed, picking up one of the more used brushes to assess it closer. The logo of the company that had made it had once been printed in gold ink on the side, there was still some residue left, but it was barely legible. âSometimes the clicking of Wednesdayâs typewriter is too loud⊠And Enid⊠donât get me wrong, I adore her, but sheâs a lot sometimes. It must be nice to be able to just get away for a while and focus on something you like.â
âWhat do you like?â Xavier was even closer than he had been before. You could practically feel the body heat coming off of him. âIâve never actually seen you doing any hobbies.âÂ
âPromise you wonât laugh?â You asked, placing the paintbrush back down and turning around to face him again. He was even closer than youâd expected him to be, which was a bit of a shock. âSeriously, promise you wonât laugh.â
âI promise,â He held his pinky finger out, barely having the room to do so with how close he was. You hesitated briefly but linked pinkies with him quickly.
âYou know that means I can cut your pinky finger off if you break the promise, right?â You smiled as he nodded. âI play dungeons and dragons with people online.â
âWait, seriously?â He asked. You nodded in confirmation. âTell me about it.â
âWhat?â You took a step back to look at him properly, trying to see if he was genuinely interested or if he was just teasing you. You barely managed to stop yourself from falling against the desk behind you, scattering some of the paintbrushes instead. You winced as you saw from the corner of your eye that one had splintered into two parts upon landing on the floor, instantly recognising it as the one you had just picked up. âShit! Iâm so sorry!â Xavier was already picking the others up as you bent down to pick up the broken one, holding the two pieces in either hand. You looked up, expecting to see rage on his face, to get thrown out of the studio there and then. Instead, you were met with a smile and a shrug.
âThat one was on its way out anyway. Probably would have broken in my hand the next time I used it,â He took the pieces out of your hands, throwing them in the nearby bin without a second thought. âNow, tell me about your character.âÂ
âTheyâre uhâŠ.â You hesitated, but his smile was oddly calming. âTheyâre a halfling rogue- uh, a halfling is basically-â
âHalflings are like short humans with pointy ears, right?â You nodded, impressed that he knew anything about them. âAnd rogues are kinda⊠sneaky thieves.â
âExactly! Mine is a pirate, so the whole rogue thing fits in really well with that!â You smiled as you spoke, excited to share this with someone, even if that someone happened to be the person you considered to be your rival. âTheir whole thing is that theyâre trying to find their missing friend Penelope, but last week I rolled really poorly doing a perception check on an old man. I got a nat one, so it was a critical failure, and our DM said that I am now 100% convinced that this old man is actually my missing best friend, and sheâs been cursed, so now I have to guard this man with my life, and Iâm dragging him around on our quest, but he has like⊠7 hit points because heâs just a little old man who has to be along for the ride.â
âI want to place bets now that the little old man is the big bad,â Xavier grinned as he listened to you.
âI will literally cry if he ends up being the big bad,â You groaned at the realisation that Xavier could be right. It would be so typical of your DM to make the little old man youâve become emotionally attached to turn on you.
âIâve never seen you cry,â He noted.
âOh, I donât let anyone see me cry,â You shook your head. âDoesnât matter where I am. I will find the most secluded area to cry. Iâve hidden in a tree once so I could cry by myself.â
âI fully believe that,â He laughed softly. It was strange to hear him laugh but more so to know that you were the cause.
âI feel like Iâm gonna regret asking thisâŠ.â You took a deep breath in. âWhy⊠Why have you been trying to talk to me for the past week?â
âPromise you wonât laugh?â He repeated your own words back to you. You smiled at held your own pinky out to once again pinky promise, though it was your pinky finger at stake this time. âI realised that-â He was cut off by the sound of his phone ringing from his pocket.
âYou have the sound on your phone?â You snorted. âGross. Use silent mode like everyone else.â He rolled his eyes playfully as he pulled the phone out.
âOh godâŠâ He groaned before answering the phone. âWhat do you-â
âWhere is she? What have you done with her?â You recognised the voice as Xavier held the phone away from his ear, wincing at the volume.
âEnid, Iâm here. Iâm fine,â You sighed, talking louder than usual so she could hear you over her own yelling. You assumed Wednesday wasnât in the dorm, or else Enid would have been silenced before she even started with a single glare.
âIâve called you like 70 times!â You werenât sure if she was exaggerating or not. With Enid, it could go either way. âWhy havenât you picked up?â
âMy sweet, you know my phone was on 7% battery because I was doing sudokus to pass the time and texting you updates the entire time,â You shook your head as you remembered the part she played in Xavier tracking you down and waiting until you crawled out of hiding. âIt was in my bag. It must have run out of charge.âÂ
âOr maybe you just didnât hear it because itâs on silent mode?â Xavier teased. You shot him a glare, but unlike every other glare you had sent his way, it was playful and not full of malice.
âYou shut your face hole,â You stuck your tongue out at him, causing him to do the same to you.
âHave you two ki-â Enid started talking, but you watched Xavier hit mute on her before she could finish whatever she had been saying.
âOkay! Bye, Enid!â He hung up before you had a chance to say goodbye to her.
âI should probably go before she tracks me down by scent,â You were only half joking at that, having once caught Enid on all fours, fully in her human form, sniffing wildly as she tried to track down Wednesday. It was as funny as it was terrifying.
âRight⊠yeahâŠâ Xavier seemed a little dejected, a sentiment which you strangely found yourself feeling as well.Â
âIt was⊠niâŠâ The words felt wrong coming out of your mouth. âNice⊠to⊠Bye!â You darted past him, not being able to bring yourself to actually complete the sentence, no matter how true it was. You fumbled with the lock for an embarrassingly long time, no doubt adding to the flush that had returned to your cheeks. Eventually, you managed to unlock it and ran through the door, blocking out whatever Xavier was calling out to you from behind.
âââ -ËË *.·:·.â.·:·.* ËË- âââ
Despite the admittedly nice time you had spent with Xavier, no matter how short it had been, you returned to avoiding him immediately afterwards.Â
It had been three days, and you were facing a dilemma. You nervously fiddled with the ribbon that tied the small gift bag together as you weighed the options. You could leave it outside his dorm room, knock, and run. You could break into his studio and leave it there. You could disguise yourself as someone else and give it to him that way.
Eventually, you landed on the plan to break into his studio. It was the best way you could get the gift to him with the minimum risk of having to talk to him.
You had laid in bed awake for hours the night after your talk. Everything ran through your head over and over and over, and you couldnât figure out why. It was 3am by the time you opened your phone and did some online shopping. It had taken around half an hour to find the exact paintbrush you had broken and a further hour researching the various other brushes the company provided and deciding which other ones would be best for Xavierâs art style. The brushes werenât exactly cheap, so you couldnât go wild and get one of each, but you ended up with six in total, including the replacement.Â
You knew when Xavier would be in archery practice, so you decided that was the best time to strike. It started to rain just as you reached the secluded studio. You tried to cover the gift bag as best as possible, so the rain didnât ruin it. Once you were by the door, you realised the flaw in your plan. You had no idea how to pick a lock.Â
Silently, you cursed yourself for not asking Thing to accompany you, knowing he could pick locks with ease. Seconds later, you openly cursed yourself as a familiar voice called out your name from behind you. Slowly, you spun on your heels to face him, hiding the gift bag behind your back.
âDecided to stop avoiding me?â His smile was as calming as it was infuriating, knowing the subtle smugness behind it.
âArchery ended early?â You phrased it as a question, though you clearly knew the answer, or the conversation wouldnât have been happening.
âIt started raining,â He glanced up at the grey sky, blinking as the rain splashed his face. âLetâs get inside.â
âIâm not here to stay,â You admitted as he walked past you to unlock the door, turning around so you could continue to hide the gift behind your back. Despite your words, your legs betrayed you as you followed him into the studio.
âWell thenâŠâ Once inside, he turned to face you. âWhy are you here?â Realising that it was now or never, you pulled the gift out from behind your back and thrust it into his chest. âOkay, bye!â You turned around to run away as fast as possible, not wanting to see his reaction or give him a chance to ask you why you had bought him the paintbrushes, as you werenât sure why you had done it yourself.Â
âNice try,â A hand landed on your shoulder, gentle but firm. It was just enough to stop you from running off. Slowly, you were manually turned back around to face him, but you kept your gaze on the floor.Â
You heard the bag rustle as it was being opened, a small gasp of acknowledgement following shortly afterwards. You just wanted the floor to swallow you.
âThis isâŠâ His voice sounded happy, but you didnât dare to check his face to confirm it. Your eyes were locked on the floorboards, tracing the wood grain pattern and the paint splatters that littered it. âYou didnât have to.â
âI know I didnât have to, but I did it,â You shrugged quickly. âNow I leave.â Quickly, you turned back around and managed to take two steps towards the door before two arms snaked around you, and you were pulled back slightly, so your back was flush against his chest. It took a moment to register that he was hugging you.Â
âThank you,â His head rested on your shoulder, and you could feel his breath on your back as he spoke. As soon as it had happened, it was over, and you werenât sure how to feel about it. He released you, but you made no move to leave again. âI actually have something for you.â
âWhy would you-?â You turned around, confused, as you watched him pull a small velvet bag out from his desk. He held it out, and you gently took it, opening the bag and carefully pouring the contents into your hand. Your breath caught in your throat as a dice set tumbled out. Bringing them up to your face to study them, you observed the sand suspended in a blue resin, specs of glitter and small skulls carefully placed to look like they were resting on the sea, the numbers inked in gold. They were pirate themed. He had listened to you talk about your character and gone out of his way to seek a set of pirate-themed dice within days, and you werenât sure why.
âI hope theyâre okay. I just-â You caught both him and yourself off guard as you clutched the dice in your hand tightly and jumped forward, almost headbutting him in the chin as you pulled him in for another hug. He returned it immediately like it was second nature, and he didnât have to think about it at all. âI wanted a peace offering. From the start, all I wanted was to get your attention, but I think I always just came off wrong, and before I knew it, you hated me.â
âI didnât hate youâŠ.â You mumbled. He pulled away and gave you a sceptical look. âOkay⊠Maybe just a bit⊠But surely you had better ways of getting my attention than knocking my bag on the floor?â
âI went over to offer to carry your bag to class, but I was nervous, and I knocked it off, and then I was too embarrassed to talk to you,â He explained. You noticed that the red that had taken over his cheeks had also reached the tips of his ears. âAnd then I wanted to nudge you to get your attention in the next class, but you moved your arm, so I ended up elbowing you in the stomach, and you looked like you wanted to kill me.â
âYou knocked the wind out of me!â You protested through a smile. âI took that as you actually attempting to kill me, so I think my reaction was valid.â
âYour reaction was very valid,â He agreed. His light laughter was infectious; you found yourself echoing it without a second thought. âBut it made it so much harder for me to tell you I like you.â
âYou what me?â Your eyes widened as the words registered in your brain.
âI like you,â He repeated, looking completely unfazed. You felt your heart flutter as somewhere, a part of you that you had spent a year repressing felt the same way.Â
âThatâs what you meant when you said you were going to tell me how you feel,â Your mouth was agape.
âHow did youâŠ?â Xavier seemed taken aback a little, and you realised the error you had made. He thought he had told Ajax that. The lighthearted fluttering you felt turned to anxiety as you weighed your options. If you lied, the truth would come out at some point, and it could cause devastating consequences in the future. However, if you told him now, and he reacted poorly, you wouldnât have lost as much.Â
âWhen you went to talk to Ajax the other night, that wasnât Ajax; it was me,â You confessed. The words suddenly started tumbling out of your mouth faster than you could control them. âI recently found out that I can shapeshift, and I donât do it often, but I realised it would be more useful if I told no one about it, but Enid caught me once, and I had to bribe her not to say anything, so I will occasionally shapeshift to help her out, and Ajaxâs birthday is coming up, and she wanted to make sure the hat she crocheted him wasnât like any of the hats he already owns, so I had shapeshifted into him to take pictures of his hats without anyone getting suspicious, and then you appeared at the door, and you caught me with my phone, and I had to lie, and then I couldnât get away from you, and you said the things about wanting to talk to me and tell me how you feel, and I assumed that you were going to just pick an argument, so I avoided you, and Iâm really sorry-âÂ
You werenât sure if he had just gotten sick of your talking or if he wanted to show he forgave you, or if it was a mixture of the two. Either way, his methods worked, as you couldnât continue to talk when his lips were pressed up against yours. One of his hands gently cupped your cheek, while the other remained on your waist following the hug. Your eyes closed as you relaxed into the kiss, fully accepting it. You were almost embarrassed at the way your head craned up further, and you lifted yourself onto your tip toes to try and chase the kiss as he pulled away.
He studied your face as you tried to remember how to breathe properly in a last-ditch attempt to come across as calm and collected as possible after what had just happened. His gaze was focused and curious as it scanned each of your features, committing them to memory as though he was worried it would be the last chance to before you realised what was happening and pushed him away.
But you didnât push him away. Instead, you reached up to pull him back in for another kiss. Somehow, it was even better than the first. The first had been slow and steady, both of you just testing the waters. The second was more like a dive directly into the deep end.
Your hand ran through his hair, it felt so soft between your fingers, and you wondered how you had ever gone without doing it before. His hand squeezed the flesh of your waist, pulling you even closer to him.
When you finally had to break for air, he trailed soft kisses down your jaw before nuzzling his face against your neck. His voice was muffled as he said something, but you couldnât quite make it out.
âWhat was that?â You asked, pulling away slightly so you could hear what he said. However, as soon as you had pulled away, he pulled you back in. Fortunately, he had lifted his head just enough for the words to sound like actual words that you could understand.
âWill you go out with me?â Xavier asked, burying his face back into your neck when he was done, pressing another trail of kisses there.
âIt would be an honour,â Something between the two of you had shifted, and you couldnât be happier.

pairing: xavier thorpe x gn!reader
summary: readers never had a new years kiss and xavier wants to change that. (VERY SHORT and sweet :)
warnings: a kiss? i think thatâs literally it. itâs so short but i wanted to get this out of my system for the new year
a/n: a teensy tiny little blurb about new years. definitely mostly just abt the new years kiss w xavier and reader
can we also just imagine if you were the one kissing him like this?!??!?
you had never had a new years kiss, learning to not even expect one as each year came to a close with the promise of a new beginning.
sure, you had flings and small romances, but none of them were serious enough or stuck around long enough to be that special kiss to kick off the new year with.
this was no different as your friends from nevermore gathered on the rooftop of tallest tower in the building. it was intimate, only involving you, enid, wednesday, ajax, yoko, bianca, kent, and xavier.
everyone knew enid and wednesday would seal the deal of the new year by each others side. ajax had yoko, bianca and kent would merely hug as friends, and you assumed xavier wanted to do the same with you.
ây/n,â xavier waltzed your way as the clicked showed one minute on everyoneâs watches. âi was wonderingâŠâ his voice was wavering, nerves clearly getting to him.
âxavier?â you turned to face him weather than the beautiful starry sky. âyou alright? if you donât wanna hug or anything itâs fine, i-â
âitâs not that,â he assured you as he reached to hold both of your hands. âi wanted to do more, actually. would you mind if i-if we-â
you were interrupted by the infamous countdown of the night, everyoneâs voice joining in unison. â10âŠ9âŠ8âŠâ
xavier still hadnât finished asking whatever he was going to ask or say. but, you brought your hands to his shoulders as you began to join in counting.
â5âŠ4âŠ3âŠ2âŠâ
before you could get to one, xavierâs hands went to cup your cheek and waist. now, youâve been kissed enough to know when someoneâs about to kiss you, and you were overjoyed by this. he leaned down to connect your lips, which were smiling.
one of your hands went to hold his that was holding your face, the other cupping his neck right below his ear. as much as you loved how often this guy made you smile, you really hated that it was nearly ruining the kiss.
regardless, you couldnât help the little groan of excitement that left your throat. with a chuckle, xavier reluctantly pulled back, connecting your foreheads to one another.
âhappy new year,â he now pressed a kiss to your forehead before resting his there once again. his breath was minty as if fanned over your face.
âquite the happy new year, indeed,â you nodded as you swung both arms around his neck. âis that what you were so scared to ask me about? to be your new years kiss?â
âwell, i donât want it to just be a new years kiss,â he shrugged as you somehow ignored the fireworks going off all around you in the sky. âi want this to be real with us. iâve always wanted that.â
âi would love nothing more than to spend the rest of this new year with you.â

Rumor has it : Xavier Thorpe x F!reader
request: can u do enemy!xavier getting into a fight with someone bcs they've been slutshaming reader and reader pulls him out of the fight and cleans him up?
Let me tell you: Xavier is NOT a fighter.
warning: slut-shaming, a bit innuendos, brief mention of blood and injuries, school drama , oblivious school staff
âEnid! Do you know what they say about your roommate?â Ajax noticed the blond she-wolf in the quad and approached her immediately
âWednesday? Yes, I heard a lot of stories, but I can assure you none of themâŠ..â
âNo, not the new one. I meant Y/n.â
âY/N? What can they say about her? Sheâs one of the kindest girl I know.â
âYeah, well, maybe sheâs a little bit too kindâŠ.â The gorgon scratched his head, or rather his beanie, awkwardly.
âWhat do you mean?â Enid frowned eyeing her boyfriend carefully, not understanding a word coming out of his mouth
âRumor has itâŠ. Um⊠itâs a bit embarrassing to say it.â
âYou donât need to. I wonât force you. Itâs like you said â itâs just a gossip, right? Nothing to believe in?â
â Sure.â
âThen how aboutâŠ.â She started, but stopped in the middle of the sentence âoh, who am I kidding? Of course Iâm going to force you. I need to know! And besides, Y/N is my friend so if anyone is trash-talking her I swear I will wolf out on them. Even if I canât really do this. Now, talk to me.â
âSome peopleâŠ.â
âBoys or girls?â
âBoth in fact. They accuse her of being âŠ. How do I put it? A soft touch.â
âWHAT?â Enid could not hold back the disbelief and surprise in her voice. And some pain on the account of her friend. âY/n? Are we talking about the same person? She sticks to the rules. She respects herself. She would never!â
âI know. And you know. And a lot of people know that. But you know, one fake word and itâs spreading around the school.â
âLetâs hope this word do not reach her ears. I canât imagine how much pain and suffering this will put her through.â
âWhat is going on with you, today?â Thera, one of the sirens, who was her regular partner stopped in her tracks seeing how shaky her opponentâs hands were and how it was almost impossible for her to  hold her skewer âIâm not going to fight with you.â
***
At the same time, the girl in subject was in the middle of the fencing class, not really doing well. Despite Enidâs wishful thinking she already was finger-pointed by some of her classmates, for reason unknown to the her,  and it caused  girlâs absent-mindedness and distraction. It was not normal for one of the most skilled fencer to make the rookie mistakes. Normally no one would pay attention and most would even enjoy her slipping, but in addition to that she was also extremely sad and anxious.
âAre you giving up so easily? Scared I will beat you? Again?â
âIâm showing you mercy.â She scoffed, but still kept all the dignity of her kind. âHonestly, it would be degrading for me to fight you in this state. Get yourself together girl.â
âLook whoâs talking.â Y/n spat at her
âUm, excuse me?â Thera scoffed, her face expression changing from condescending to angry.
âYouâve been a mess ever since you broke up withâŠ.â
âOh, donât you dare finishing that sentence!â siren came right at the other girl, taking her by surprise and causing her to trip over her feet and fall down to the ground. âNow, that is better. Being on the ground seems more natural to you, doesnât it?â she smirked
âWhat are youâŠ.â
âOh, Iâll tell you what.â Thera crouched on the ground next to Y/N, leaning into her ear âbeing under someone is your natural state, am I wrong, slut?â
Oh, that hurt. Y/N heard some whispers on the corridor this morning as she was walking by. Whispers about a girl with bad reputation. She turned a deaf ear to them, mostly because she was never into gossip, but also because she knew Enid would let her in the news, but now? Now it was all becoming perfectly clear.  She was that girl. A slut, apparently. But why? Obviously this was a lie and Y/N never gave anyone any reason to call her like that. Quite the opposite, actually. Always sticking to the âno boysâ policy. Focused on her duties and school obligations. Avoiding romances, flirting and giving anyone any pretence to accuse her of doing something wrong. In the matter of relationship she was much like Wednesday Addams, cut the death glare. So why would someone disseminate such bullshit? Why would someone want to hurt her? Hundreds of questions started spinning in her mind, most of them starting with âWhy?â, because she felt overwhelming unfairness of the situation. She was so vulnerable and just as the tears was about to flow down her cheek the fencing master finally got his head around what was going on. One of the students shaking on the ground, completely defenseless, the other with foil in hand and vicious smile. Not good.
âDo we have a problem here, ladies?â he asked approaching the girls
âNo, no problem, sirâ thera smiled widely showing all her teeth and it came out predatory rather than charming âY/N tripped and I was just helping her upâ
âAll right then. Y/N get back on your feet, you still have a duel to finish.
âIâŠ. I donât really feel very well sirâŠâ y/n muttered, holding her tears back, but not wanting to spend any more minute in this stupid class. The only thing she wished for was getting back to her dorm, covering herself with blanket and pretending nothing was happening.
âI noticed.â Oh, now he noticed âvery well then. I will assign you an easier opponent today. How aboutâŠ..â he turned around the class, searching for the right person to match Y/Nâs impaired skills âMr. Thorpe. Come forward.â
âWhy me?â he muttered
âWhy him?â Y/N hissed at the same moment. This unison in mutual reluctance made both of them look into each otherâs eyes. Auch! It was like the electricity run through their veins, forcing them to turn the gaze away. Everyone at school knew that Xavier wasnât exactly the greatest fan of Y/N and the other way roud. Of course, for the sake of their common friends (Enid and Ajax included) they were forced to deal with each other from time to time, but it took a lot of effort. They were never paired in class before and the rest of the students held their breaths in anticipation. This dead silence made both Y/N and Xavier regain their common sense.
âYou know what, Iâm goodâ Y/N shrugged casually keeping her cool âopponent like any other.â
âYou took the words out of my mouthâ Xavier smirked.
The teacher nodded and went on to observe other student dueling, not paying any more attention to Thorpe â Y/L/N dynamics.
âAre you all rightâ Xavier asked before putting his mask on. Clearly he noticed her being blue and those treacherous water in the corner of her eyes
âWhy do you care all of a sudden?!â she hissed, not wanting any more attention âweâre not friends, stop acting like you care! You only bare with me because of Ajax. And maybe because you want to get close to Wednesday.â
âIâŠ.â
âYouâre not the only observant one in the room. I noticed how you look at her.â
âYou do realize you just admitted to being sad?â
âOh, damn it!â she secured her face with mask âare you gonna fight me or what?â
âGladly.â He mirrored her action and inflicted a blow.
***
The situation was getting worse. Now she was hunted by the words. Slut, bitch, easy girl. Sometimes it was impossible to get out of bed. Y/n wanted to stay hidden from the whole world, pretending like she didnât exist as some sort of self-protection. She couldnât even walk her way towards the classroom without being chased by pitying looks, smirks and damning words. Or worse, offensive propositions from some of the more courageous boys. Most of the time she had to walk to class with Ajax or Enid or both just to make it intact. Playing cool and acting like she didnât care was taking all her energy and on Friday she woke up crying.
âI donâtâ Enid interrupted her âAjax doesnât. Kent and Divina doesnât. And Yoko. And hopefully, WednesdayâŠ..â
âY/Nâ Within seconds Enid was by her side, holding her hand and hugging her âplease, donât cry or I will.â
âHow can I not?â Y/N sobbed âeveryone thinks Iâm a âŠ..
âI donât. I dealt with bullies before. I can give you an example of how to retaliate on them.â
âUm, thanks Wednesday, but lashing piranhas on people is not really my style. Besides, I still donât know who started this.â
âAnd you donât need to know.â Wednesday stated blankly âwe can just get rid of everyone who repeat it.â
âWednesday!â Enid was appalled by her attitude âthat is not the answer!â
âYouâll do what you want, but donât say I didnât give you an easy solution.â
âRight.â Y/N sobbed again âI think Iâm gonna skip classes today. Please, tell Thornhill I wasnât feeling well. Honestly, this is not even a lieâŠ..â
*** Â
Instead of attending botany class, Y/N decided to take a little walk at the lake. Being around water always made her feel better, even despite the fact she wasnât a siren and it was pretty unusual behavior for an airbender. Most of the time her kind avoided the opposite element., but not her. As she was enjoying the little breeze coming from the water, some laughs and catcalling sounds came from behind and she was forced to turn around as a strong hand fell on her arm starting her.
âOh, there you are, little one. Waiting for another boy to take care of you?â one of the boys mocked
âGo awayâ she muttered flatly
âOh, sweetheart, donât be like that. I bet we can have some fun.â The other chimed in.
âYeah, Tom said you can be a lot of fun. Airbender, huh? Bet that add some spice.â
âTom?â Y/N eyes went wide and suddenly she knew who was the reason behind her torment. The boy she turned down. She refused to get together with him, so to humiliate her and avenge his broken ego he came up with completely made up stories. Well, as much as it hurt, it worked. âThat piece ofâŠ.â
âShh. Keep that pretty mouth shut.â The first boy came right at her grabbing her chin forcefully
âThat is, as long as we tell you to. Those lips may actually come of use later on and âŠ.â
âLeave her alone!â sudden male voice captured everyone attention
âOh, shit!â Y/N though. The last person I need. What it Thorpe doing here?!
âYou know, you can always join us. If what they say about her stamina is right, sheâll be of use to us allâŠâŠâ
He did not get to sat another word as a perfectly aimed punch threw him off guard. Honestly, the only good one since Xavier Thorpe was not exactly a good fighter. Soon he lost his balance and the cards turned on his disadvantage.
âStop it!â she yelled and surprisingly they all listened turning the gaze on her âIâll⊠Iâll go with you, just, just let him go. â she looked upon Xavier whose lip was busted and whose nose was bleeding and already started to swell. âLet him go, pleaseâŠâ he wasnât a friend but surely she couldnât let him get beaten to pulp because of her he was an idiot.
âY/NâŠ.â Xavier muttered in a warning tone. Donât you dare.
ânow, pretty one. Isnât that better and easier for everyone?â three boys approached her once again but when they got close enough she made a wind so strong it caused a huge wave and wetted them all from heads to toes.
âRun!â she rushed past the assaulters, helping Xavier on his feet and before the boys realized what happened Y/N and Xavier were halfway to the school.
âWhat the hell were you thinking?!â she lashed out on him as soon as they reached the quad
âYou know, a bit of gratitude would be nice. I was trying to defend you after all.â
âDefend me!â she scoffed âLook where it got youâŠ.â her eyes saddened as she looked on his bruised face.
âY/NâŠâ
âDonât Y/N me! Just ⊠just show me, thatâ she cupped his cheek forcing him to look at her and she froze at the spot. What the hell was happening. âI owe you.â she moved a feet away âso as thanks Iâm gonna patch you up. Stay here, Iâm gonna get some bandages.â
âWhatever.â
She was there and back in a couple of minutes, which made him wonder whether she was running.
âSuch a hurry for me?â he smirked
âYou must have hit your head pretty hard during that scrimmage. I will never run for anyone. Waste of air in lungs.â
âAnd thatâs coming from the air master.â
âAirbender.â She corrected. âNow stop talking. I need to clean your face.â
He listened and the silence that fell between them was a bit uncomfortable. Here they were. Two people, who were never close, in the middle of an empty quad, not saying a word to each other even if the situation called (or rather screamed) for some explanation.
âWhy did you do this?â she asked pulling away after disinfecting his wounds âwhy did you got involved.â
âBecause you didnât deserve it.â
âThat is not a good enough reason to get oneself beaten up.â
âLook.â He rubbed his forehead âregardless of what you think I am not your enemy. And I donât consider you to be mine. I was just wondering. Maybe we can start our acquaintance again? Not because of Enidâs or Ajaxâs or Addamsâs sake. I just⊠I just think we may benefit from it.
âIâm Y/N Y/L/Nâ she smiled and reached for his hand.
âNice to meet you Y/N. Iâm Xavier Thorpe.â He shook it and reciprocated.
Maybe there was something good coming after all. Â Â

What about an Xavier head canon with a reader who loves crystals and she puts little crystals like rose quartz in his pockets or his room to show that he's hers
CUTE CUTE CUTE (and so me</3)
thereâs no mistaking the fact that you adore xavier thorpe. youâd kiss the ground that boy walked on if he asked you to.
and the way that you express that adoration is one of his favourite things about you.
originally, it started out small. a rose quartz slipped into his blazer pocket before classes, one on his nightstand, another dropped into his bag as you sit next to him.
then it progressed. you tailored the crystals to his day to day needs. tigerâs eye for luck on a test, carnelian for confidence when he needs a boost. at this point, xavier can be tracked by the rattling of stones in his every pocket.
if another girl so much as glances in his direction, youâre quick to skip towards the tall boy and take his hand, pressing yet another crystal into his palm.
âyou forgot this, xavi.â
âoh, thanks, baby.â
he knows what youâre up to as you latch yourself onto his arm, tucked under him as though youâve been settled there forever; itâs not like you spend your time anyplace else. heâs more than happy facilitating your scare tactics towards the other girls; heâs yours.
he needs to have one of your stones close to relax, now. it grounds him, having a piece of you to cradle in the palm of his hand.
he still prefers it when you sneak into his dorm to spend the night, though. warm and soft, snuggled under his arm, in his bed and his clothes. youâre his every daydream rolled into one.
and when you sneak out of a morning, you leave a crystal in your place, tucked under his pillow safely for him to find<3

can i pls request something abt xavier and op who can see people's auras?? like shes new to nevermore and sees everyone's auras changing according to their humor but she just?? cant see xavier's and that bothers her, so she tries to get emotions from him, anger, happiness yk, then idk maybe they go to the raven together and at the end of the night when they finally kiss she can see a bright pink aura around him :]] or whatever way you feel like writing it (you can write reader as GN if you want as well!)
i donât get it?
pairings: xavier thorpe x reader
summary: you saw everyoneâs auras except xavierâs, who knew a kiss could change it
warnings: reader is an asshole, swearing, idk i think thats it
a/n: im sorry this was really shitty, i am more focused on school mostly rn, and this is NOT PROOFREAD, REBLOGS HELP A LOT!
nevermore.
at first you thought you were gonna be an âoutcastâ at an outcast school, but you made a couple friends, enid, her aura was a bright yellow, probably because sheâs always smiling and full of joy, and wednesday who had black, âcause she was so mysterious, and had strength. you could see all of your friendâs auras except for xavier, the guy you like, of course it has to be the guy you like.
you were at the quad with ajax, so you told him about it for some help, maybe he knows what to do.
âi just canât see his aura! and, of course i have to have a crush on him, for godâs sake!â you whined
âmaybe, try getting some emotions out, make him happy, sad, whateverâ the gorgon said
âthats a great idea, ajax! i owe you for this one!â you say
ây/n- please, donât go too far on him- hes kinda a sensitive kind of guy, okay?â he says worried
âiâll try, iâll make sure hes okayâ you gave him a smile as you left the quad
âgoodluck!â he screamed
you decided to make xavier happy, the easiest one first so you couldnât cause any harm, so you decided to do one of his favorite things he does with you, the carnival. good thing it was a friday, so no school tomorrow which is perfect.
classes were finally over, so you could finally try to find xavier.
you ran to him when you saw him in one of the hallways, âxavier! hi! do you maybe wanna do something tonight?â you say
âsure! what do you think we should do?â he looked down at you
âwanna go to the carnival, maybe?â you smiled
âokay then, itâs settled! be there at 6:30 sharp, y/nâ he gave you a big smile and patted your head
âsee you there, xav!â you walked away and blushed because he patted your head, you kinda felt bad you were kinda forcing him to show emotions.
-
you were scrolling through social media while in bed, seeing your friendâs posts and enidâs new gossip about the school, until you checked the time, it was 5:24PM, so you decided to get ready for your plans with xavier.
you decided to wear pants with a chase atlantic shirt, and you brought a jacket just in case.
âoh my god! y/n, do u have a date?!â enid, your roommate squealed out of excitement
âitâs not a date, idiot, im just hanging out with xavier at a carnivalâ you say
âjust admit it, it is kinda a date, y/nâ she smiled
âwell i guess- but itâs like a friends kind of date?â you say
âwhatever you say, y/nâ the werewolf gave you a wink
you rolled your eyes and looked at the time, 5:59PM and decided to text xavier
y/n: hey, is it ok if i come right now? im a bit too early
xavier: uh yeah sure, meet me by the ferris wheel
at the carnival
you walked up to xavier, âhi! what do you wanna do first?â you gave him a smile
âphotobooth?â he questioned
âyes!â
you two walked in the photobooth, getting ready for the camera, you both did some funny poses and one where he was looking at you but you were too busy posing to even notice he was looking at you
you guys walked out and grabbed your photos, and saw that he was looking at you in one of the photos, you smiled.
âwe look so cool!â you say
âwanna do balloon darts?â he asked
âokay!â you gave him a slight smile
-
you kept missing every dart and it was getting kind of annoying.
âidiot, let me help youâ the blonde boy said and grabbed darts
he popped almost every one of the balloons and won a stuffed bear for you.
âthank youâ you say.
it was the next day after u hung out with xavier, and you still didnât see his aura that time. you sighed and saw ajax come up to you.
âanything yet?â he asked
âno, i tried making him happy by hanging out with himâ you whined as you covered your face with your hands
âmaybe you just need to kiss himâ ajax teased
âshut up!â you whispered as you hit him lightly on the hand
âspeak of the devilâ he gave you a mischievous smirk and walked away when he saw xavier walking your way
âwhat-â you got cut off by a tall boy behind you
ây/n! last night was fun, do you maybe wanna go to the weathervane today? we could study there, or i could go on my own?â he gave you a light smile
you wanted to say yes so bad, but you decided to make him jealous today, or mad.
âuh, sorry, no. i have a date with tyler today, maybe tomorrow?â you say nervously
his smile faded when he heard you say the last part, he didnât really have a good relationship with tyler.
âright, have fun, y/n.â he says and walked away from you
did you go too far? you sighed.
but he mentioned about going to the cafe on his own, and tyler was there. so you decided to go there aswell to meet up with tyler.
at the weathervane
you saw xavier sitting in one of the booths and walked past him as you felt his eyes on you.
you rang the bell and waved to tyler and hugged him.
âhi tyler!â you say energetically
âhi, y/nn!â he says
you could see xavier fuming at your peripheral vision, perfect. but you still couldnât feel his aura. you looked over to xavierâs booth and saw that he was gone. i guess it really affected him.
2 weeks later
it was 2 weeks after the whole weathervane thing, you didnât really talk to xavier much because of his jealousy and if you were being honest, you kinda regretted getting xavierâs emotions out of him just so that you can see his aura.
tomorrow was the raveân, so you and your friends went shopping for your outfits.

Word Count: 2.9k+
Characters/Pairing: Faye!Reader x Xavier Thorpe, Mentions of Principal Weems, mentions of Tyler
Prompt: simply that Y/N feels like the biggest Outsider amongst Outsider, but Xavier is there to prove her wrong and let her know that sheâs just a one of a kind.
A/N: Reader is similar to Maleficent, but without the horns. :) Has magic and those giant wings that I freaking adore

Y/N had been found on the outskirts of the forests in Europe before she was sent to Nevermore. Principal Weems was the one who originally found her anyways, so she thought it was her duty to take care of her and give her shelter, not just because she was an Outsider who was hated by half of humanity, but because she was one of the rarest creatures she had ever laid her eyes upon.Â
That was when Y/N was 12, until she was brought to Nevermore she had spent her time as a child hiding in dense forest areas that no one could possibly get to, secret caves that held her own hideaways far from the Normies of the world. When she was brought to the school for Outcasts, she felt like a freak. Everyone at the school was pretty, popular, they all looked semi-normal, but not Y/N.
No, Y/N had to have fangs, longer and sharper than any vampireâs, naturally long nails that should have counted as talons, and ginormous black wings that shrouded her body. Y/N was, in her eyes, a human bird.Â
From the moment she stepped foot onto campus all eyes were on her. At that young of an age she was scared, she scared herself and everyone else, but as she grew up she turned that frightened little girl into a power to be reckoned with. As everyone at school watched her grow into this confident young lady, they also became less scared of her. She had her times where sheâd lose her temper and lash out, her magic uncontrollable as sheâd stomp away and wreck everything in her path, but they knew she was just like them in that sense. Unable to control how they felt because there was not a single person in the world that understood what it was like to be an Outcast.Â
By the time Y/N was 16 she had learned that it was just better for her to stay on campus at all times than to go into town and try to be normal with everyone else. The Normies may be able to hide their hatred for the Outcasts at least somewhat decently with the others, but with Y/N she could always see the look of disgust on their faces from a mile away. Every time sheâd try to go into town with a few people from school she was always picked on, bullied, and it wasnât even just the Normies who did it. Sheâd be invited out as a joke several times, it wasnât until the third time she was made fun of and abandoned in town that she realized no one would ever truly except her for what she was.Â
Outreach day was approaching and Y/N was dreading going, but Principal Weems was making Y/N volunteer this year by having her paint a mural of Nevermore and the town of Jericho together in harmony. The thought made Y/N gag. Why would she want to celebrate such a stupid day that obviously had no meaning to anyone in the long run?
If this wasnât mandatory then Y/N wouldnât be going and setting herself up for embarrassment. Rude comments ran wild in her head as she mocked what some people in town were going to say as she showed up to celebration.Â
She packed up her painting materials in a duffel bag and then headed to the Quad, where all the other students would be getting their assignments. When she walked into the Quad everyone had already begun hoarding together in their cliques, so Y/N just stood next to the wall and waited till they were all dismissed. One thing about having these giant wings was that she couldnât ride on the bus with everyone else, instead she was going to have to fly herself down the town.Â
Y/Nâs eyes scanned the crowd of students, watching as they opened their assignment letters. Some students were happy but others seemed upset about what they got. One of those people was Xavier, someone that Y/N admired from a far but would never confront face-to-face. He mustâve been upset about what he got, the same going for his friend Ajax.
Feeling as though she had intruded on peopleâs private conversations, Y/N picked up her duffel bag and headed towards the front of the school. Little did she know that as soon as she walked away from the bustling students who were rushing towards the busses, Xavier had looked up from his assignment card and watched as the black winged beauty turned away and walked away.Â
Xavier didnât see Y/N again until everyone was in the town square to listen to Principal Weems and Mayor Walker go on about how important the day was and how they created a new statue in honor of the town embracing the Outcasts.Â
It was complete bullshit and everyone knew it. Y/N mustâve gotten bored listening to their speech, because once they were all dismissed to go to their jobs for the day, the Faye was no where in sight. Xavier sighed as he trudged over to the Weathervane for his assignment. Working in the same cafĂ© as Tyler, his tormenter, was not how he wanted to spend the day.Â
When he walked into the cafĂ© his eyes landed directly on the winged beauty. She stood in the corner awkwardly looking down at her phone as she waited for her order name to be called. Once she heard her name called out she went to grab her drink quickly and bolt from the small building. Y/N didnât even look up as she brushed past Xavier and out into the open.Â
The taller boy watched as she walked with her head low, going to the designated area for the portrait she was to draw. It was the same wall that Xavier had painted on last year, on this exact day. The thought of her putting all this effort into a portrait and then possibly having it destroyed just like he had done to him, angered him more than it should have. Taking in a deep breathe he walked over to Tyler, who also didnât looked too amused that he was in this situation as well. Â
An hour, maybe two at most had gone by before he saw what Y/Nâs painting looked like. It was amazing, to say the least. The wall Y/N was using as a canvas was a mirror image of the town on that exact day. Both the town and itâs people joining together with the students of Nevermore in celebration of Outreach Day. The thing that pulled it all together? The heavily detailed painting of Joseph Crackstone in the center of the town. It was perfect for that day, and exactly what Principal Weems wanted out of the feather winged girl.Â
As Y/N stood a few feet away from her painting, admiring it and criticizing it, she could hear the words that the towns folk were saying.Â
âWhat a freak.â Some mumbled.Â
âWho let the little birdy out of her cage?â Some would tease menacingly.Â
âIf there were a contest for being the biggest freak of all the freaks, sheâd for sure win.âÂ
One would think that on a day like today, these small minded people would put their snide comments to the side and at least pretend to be decent, but no, in fact they were even worse. Usually she could handle those harsh words, but for some reason today was just the day for her to snap.
Bawling her fists she began to pack up her painting supplies, anger consuming her as she thought about all the horrible curses and spells she could use on these lesser people. Y/N was so overwhelmed with anger that she began to shake which caused her to drop some spay paint.Â
Before she could reach over and grab some asshole had to kick it so hard that the can busted open, spraying Y/N and ruining the bottom half of her painting. With tears blurring her vision and anger blurring her judgment, she stood up quickly, her hands glowing a bright green as she threw the Normie against the wall opposite of her. She growled lowly, her eyes glowing the same green as she began to close off the personâs airway with her magic. If it werenât Xavier to snap her out of her trance, Y/N for sure would have murdered the man.Â
Y/Nâs eyes stopped glowing, along with her hands, her gaze moving from the man she was choking to Xavier who was standing in front of her with a very concerned look. For a split second Y/Nâs eyes looked at the man, her growl scary enough to send him hurling around the corner and down the sidewalk.Â
Without a word she took a step away from Xavier and turned back to her supplies. She through the busted can into her bag, zipped it up, and then tried to walk away. As she was a few steps away from the tall blonde, he reached out and gently grabbed her wrist. Y/N stopped and turned to look at the boy, confusion grazing across her face.Â
âWhat? You gonna make fun of me too?â Y/Nâs words were harsh, but Xavier knew that she was still angry.Â
Letting go of her wrist he lets out a soft sigh, âI was going to ask if you were okay.â He said looking at her and watching her expressions.Â
Y/N looked taken back at his question, as if no one had ever asked her that before. âIâm fine,â Y/N huffed. She was clearly lying, but why on Earth would she open up to someone she barely knew, so easily? Xavierâs look on his face was basically saying, âreally?â He knew she was lying and was hoping she would just talk to him a little bit, even if this was their first time really talking.Â
Letting out a huff of frustration, Y/N let her walls fall down as she looked away from the boy. âFine, no, Iâm not okay. Iâm pissed.â She paused and waited for a response but only got a nod telling her to continue. âThis is all just so stupid, it bullshit. No one cares about today, they just care about the money they get from this stupid day.â Y/N rolled her eyes as she looked up at Xavier. âNo one actually cares, they never will. We will always be the freaks and outcasts to them, they will never see us as equals.âÂ
Xavier could practically see the steam rolling off her skin, seeing how angry she still was. He knew there was nothing he could say that would make her feel better, so instead he gently took her duffel bag from her and offered to take her to the Weathervane. It took a moment for Y/N to consider the offer, thinking that this was just going to be another joke, but once she realized that Xavier meant no harm she agreed and the two began the short walk to the coffee shop.Â
It was a good thing that the cafĂ© was slow that day, or else Y/N and Xavier probably wouldnât have been able to talk as much as they wanted to. The other great thing about it being slow was the fact that wasnât a lot of people around to gawk at Y/N and make rude remarks about her looks. The only other person in the building was Tyler, but he could care less what the Nevermore students were doing, especially Xavier.Â
Xavier and Y/N sat at a booth close to the counter, both of them feeling the tension as they squeezed into their seats. Well, Y/N squeezed into her seat because of her wings, Xavier was fine.Â
It was quiet at first, the two just looking around and avoiding each otherâs gaze for the first few minutes before Xavier decided to speak up.Â
âYour painting looks great, by the way.â He smiled softly, hoping that sheâd realize he was here to talk to her and not belittle her. âThe detail in it is amazing.â
Y/N was a bit taken back by the compliment. She wasnât used to people saying nice things to her, let along talking to her at all. âThanks, though Iâd rather see that stupid statue burn than to paint it, thanks.â Anyone who was listening to their conversation would know that she was joking, she was being serious.Â
Xavier chuckled a bit and nodded in agreement, âTrust me, I know how you feel.â
Y/N snorted at his response. How could someone like him? Someone who looks normal, understand how she felt? The only odd thing about him was his father, and the face that he could make his artwork move or come to life. Xavier looked confused at Y/Nâs slight harshness and watched as tried to lean back a bit in the booth, crossing her arms as she looked at the wall.
âHate to break it to you, pretty boy, but you most definitely donât know how I feel.â Her words were harsh, and completely true. While Xavier could have anything he wanted and grew up only being know as the son of a famous Outcast, he would never really know what itâs like to feel like Y/N. To be tormented for how he looked. Itâs never a problem that he has ever had to deal with. Â
Silence filled the space between them once more, both of them unsure of what to say next. Xavier studied Y/Nâs face, memorizing every curve, mark, and point there was. To him, someone she barely knew, he thought she was the most beautiful and unique person on this planet. Even though he didnât really know her all that well, his heart wanted to know more so he could get closer to her and learn to understand her.Â
Y/Nâs eyes unfortunately wandered over to the window where she could see the townsfolk pointing and gawking at her. The anger that had slowly started to subside started to come back stronger than before, her eyes starting to glow that vivid green color. Xavierâs eyes followed hers and once he noticed what, well who, she was staring at, he immediately when to calm her down. Without thinking or hesitation, his hands grabbed hers softly, like she was made of the finest porcelain and he didnât want to break her.Â
âDonât worry about them,â he said softly, his thumbs rubbing small circles into the backs of her hands. The action startled her at first, but then she found it calming. Her eyes stopped glowing, her heart went back to normal and she no longer felt like ripping out those peoples throats.
âWhy do you care so much?â Y/N asked with a tilted head, âYou donât know me, so why do you care so much?â It was a genuine question she wanted the answer to, but Xavier wasnât sure if he could really tell her why he cared.â
The boy gulped, trying to find a way to word his thoughts in a way that didnât sound creepy or stalker like. There was a long pause before he said anything, it was when she went to pull her hands away from him that he sputtered out the truth. âIâve always liked you, thought you were the most mesmerizing being to ever lay my eyes upon. Iâve watched you, since the moment I started going to Nevermore, I- I just didnât know how to approach you. I was nervous.â
Y/N raised an eyebrow at him, thinking he was joking and was put up to this as a joke. âYouâre only saying that to say it, you donât mean it.â Her eyes averted downwards towards her lap, trying desperately to focus on anything but the feeling of her hands still holding his. âNo one thinks that of me, Iâm a monster.â
Xavierâs gentle squeeze on her hands was enough to pull her Y/E/C eyes back up to his blue eyes. âI donât think that.â The warry look on Y/Nâs face was enough to tell him that she really had never been told that in her life, âI promise, if I truly didnât think that, then I wouldnât have said it in the first place.â
The shaky sigh that Y/N let out worried him. Had he gone too far? Did she find him repulsive now? Was this all too creepy? Â
âI donât think you understand how much that means to me,â When their eyes met he finally saw the tears that brimmed her waterline. Carefully, he reached up and swiped away the stray tears that managed to slip down her flushed cheeks. The soft smile that Y/N let Xavier see was something heâd remember forever. Heâs the only one whoâs seen her cry, whoâs seen her smile, whoâs been so kind and genuine to her.Â
This was the beginning of something new, for the both of them. It would be rocky in the beginning for sure, but both teens could tell that theyâd let out the best of each other in the long run.

over his body. please
you didnât mean to, really.
but your boyfriend just looked so cute.
your lipstick smeared and transferred all over his skin as you kissed him lovingly, the boy laughing as he tightly held your waist.
âbabyâŠâ
âyouâre so cute, xavi.â
you hadnât realized how much the makeup went onto his pale skin until you finally pulled away. a deep blush sat on his cheeks.
you laughed at his flustered face. grabbing your phone, you snapped a picture of xavier as he stared up at the camera with big doe eyes.
âmy handsome boy.â you kissed his lips once more.
the door to xavierâs room opened and there stood ajax with some other boys.
âwhoops, didnât know xavier was getting some action.â ajax teased.
âwear protection, lover boy!â another yelled as ajax shut the door behind him.
xavier blushed deeper as he grabbed your hips, forcing you onto the bed.
you fell with a squeal as xavier began kissing your skin.
