Hello, and welcome to my blog! I'm Ainyan, and below you'll find some of the characters that I may be posting about. I primarily post about the excellent MMORPGs Final Fantasy XIV and Star Wars: The Old Republic - but I also play a lot of other games like Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Persona, Destiny, and others, and am happy to talk about them as well!

I maintain two Carrds (FFXIV and SWTOR) as well as an active if infrequently updated Archive of our Own account.

FFXIVWrite Day 1 - Envoy

In which I actually touch on how Altais is technically leader of the Steppe.

Don't know my characters? Here's a basic breakdown to help you out!

Rare is the leader who can almost forget they even lead a nation. But the Steppe was no normal nation, and Altais was an even less normal leader. What time does a Warrior of Light have to stick around and lead the Steppe tribes? It made far more sense to let the Mol, as the tribe that she fought with, handle things. Still, Altais was the Khagan of the Steppe. It simply slipped most people’s minds among all the other feats she was known for.

Yet someone clearly remembered, for Altais’s linkpearl rang as Solar made their way out of the meeting with Vrtra after toppling the Tower of Zot. She gestured for the others to continue on ahead and stepped off the path to take the call.

Cirina was quick to greet her, which wasn’t unusual in itself. While the Mol handled daily life on the Steppe, she usually called Altais about large scale action. What was unusual was the other person on the line.

“Hello Altais, this is Lucia Junius representing the Eorzean Alliance” she was greeted formally.

Altais had never actually been good at diplomacy. She had won the Steppe through her fighting abilities alone, and she was not the one Solar chose to speak on their behalf usually. She was far too blunt, far too impatient. So she could imagine Cirina cringing as she replied.

“Lucia? You’re representing the alliance now?”

Right to the point. Lucky for the Xaela, Lucia knew Altais. She was in a relationship with another member of Solar, and was familiar with all of them.

“The Alliance has asked a favor of us. They would like us to send troops to assist in an operation in Ilsabard against the Telophoroi” Cirina explained quickly.

“We’ve been dealing with them ourselves already. What are the details?” Altais asked.

Lucia was quick to explain the formation of the Ilsabard Contingent, heading north to fight the Telophoroi and aid the Garleans.

“Once the details are finalized, Solar and the Scions should be contacted to join us as well” Lucia finished.

“We’re striking at their heart then? A good plan. Give them our full support Cirina. If Solar is going, I can lead our troops myself”

“You have our thanks. I will send Cirina the details for the troops anon” Lucia said, bidding them farewell and leaving the call.

“You still need to work on your speaking officially” Cirina noted when the two of them were alone in the conversation.

“It worked out didn’t it? But don’t worry, if a long term envoy is needed anywhere you know I’d send you anyway. Or let you choose someone from the Mol” Altais pointed out.

“Except for this”

“For this they need military, not diplomacy. That I can do. The Naadam proved that”

“That I know well. We can continue this conversation when this war is won. Stay safe for now, and I will speak to you again when we’ve gathered for the mission” Cirina conceded.

“I already fought my way up a tower and survived just fine. Don’t waste time worrying about me” Altais assured before letting the call end.

She breathed a sigh of relief as she tucked the linkpearl away. Leading the Steppe was easy enough on the Steppe itself. The Xaela listened to strength and certainty and she had plenty of that. But the tact with which one needed to navigate international conversations was something she’d quickly realized was beyond her. Of course she was aware she was too blunt, and too direct, but she didn’t know how to talk in the polite indirect way most proper politicians did. She mostly coasted simply because she happened to know everyone they were in contact with personally as a Warrior of Light. Or when there was time to discuss beforehand, Altais would make decisions in private with Cirina and then let her deliver them.

Still, if nothing else her directness would lead others not to question her choices.

The call had been short enough where Altais quickly caught up to Solar. 

“Was that important?” Zelda asked as Altais fell in alongside her.

“Steppe business. You’ll hear about it soon. I won’t waste time spoiling the surprise” Altais answered.

Zelda nodded and the group continued on until they reached the aetheryte plaza where they teleported back to Sharlayan.

Only a few steps away from the Sharlayan aetheryte plaza, Zelda’s linkpearl rang.

(Xaela) It gets even funnier when you consider that this is before the brother bonding road trip. All Nox has to to explain now (cause Ardyn and Regis now have multidimensional shenanigans under their belts too) is say that it's like Dissidia. Also I can't help but think that the home team are in even /worse/ state in bby!Nox verse because, y'know, TEN. It doesn't matter that Nox regularly beats his older brother, he's still a baby and at least 1 person might think the Nifs grabbed him "back".

The home team in Bby!Nox verse are in fact way worse, because CHILD. SMALL CHILD ON THE BATTLEFIELD. SMALL CHILD IS *MISSING*. XD

Could you please tell us a bit about Talia Qestir?

Of course! I love just talking about my girls!

Even if my last drawings might fool you, she is an innocent, young girl. No real sexual experience. So if you want to know about that, and the ideas I have for her, you’ll have to head over to my NSFW blog and ask! She might be an innocent cinnamon roll, but I am not.

I haven’t gotten the chance to RP her too much yet, but to best explain her personality.. Curious, excited, mischievous, brat, naive. Skilled in the healing arts and aether infused archery, she is a person who’d help you, even if you did not wish for her help. (Talia, like all my other characters, are stubborn, so you might have to literally throw her off you if you don’t wish for her help.)Without the use of words, she uses her tail and expressions to somehow try and get her point across, but she is slowly learning she might have to be more expressive to make other understand. Her trusting nature makes her quite easy to trick and manipulate.

In short, she is just a young girl far from home, wanting to enjoy her life.

I've read many of your posts musing about foulques inspiring to be a dragoon but what about him joining the dark knights? He ran into the misfits one day and decided to take up the trade to deliver his own justice, maybe get some self-love and friends along the way. Anyway love you bye.

"Don't," Sidurgu grabs at the duskwight's arm as Foulques turns back. "Fray can handle himself. We have to get Rielle to safety."

Foulques shrugs him off roughly, snatching his arm away as he grabs for the hilt of his great sword. It still took some getting used to, finding a sword there instead of a lance as he had for so long. "You take her," Foulques hisses, "I will not leave Fray behind. I won't be a coward, not anymore; not ever again."

Sidurgu grunts at being shoved back, nearly stumbling into a fretful Rielle that stood behind him, hidden from prying eyes by a cloak that was a size too big for her small frame. "Foulques," the xaela warns, calling out to the elezen's retreating back. "He'll be angry that you didn't listen!"

Foulques ignores him. Or rather, he embraces it. For all Fray had done, saving Foulques when he had been on the brink of death—this was the least the former lancer could do. "Let him be angry, then," Foulques says, trudging his way back through the fog and to Fray. Where he had seen the hyur caught and waylaid by Ishgardian knights. "Fray has to survive at least long enough for my debt to be repaid."

"You fool," Fray gasps in Foulques' pointed ear as the duskwight slings the hyur's arm over his shoulder, practically carrying him for how much the shorter dark knight could not hold his own weight. "You didn't listen. You never bloody do."

Foulques manages a sharp little grin. Keeping the man steady against him as they narrowly avoided their pursuers by ducking into a dark, cluttered alleyway. "Better I didn't this time, else I would have lost my mentor," the duskwight says, feeling the pound of the man's heart against his side. Still beating, still alive though the man was beaten and bloody.

"I told you not to call me that," Fray says, that frosty tone to his voice that used to intimidate Foulques, but now only made him smile.

"Be quiet," Foulques says, "or they'll find us."

Fray digs his fingers painfully into the elezen's side, his voice low but urgent as he asks, "Where are Rielle and Sid?"

Foulques grunts. "Safe, of course, my mentor."

Fray glares up at him with gold eyes that glowed with life. "Good. If they aren't, I'll take it out of your hide."

Foulques presses his finger to the mouth of Fray's helmet. "Alright, fine, but will you shut up? You'll get us caught." The duskwight mumbles under his breath, "bloody brooding chocobo."

Fray punches his side, making Foulques hiss.

"I heard that."

"It's been so long since we have seen each other...tell me, do you remember what a real Xaela feels like? If not let me remind you"

My muse is blindfolded and listening. Go on anon and whisper something into their ear. 

“The feel of a real Xaela?” He muses while tapping his fingers against the scales on his chin, “Do explain… Am I the one topping or you?” His eyes searched where they could while his tail coil and whipped against the floorboards.

“Because that is the question I have… I do not recall ever having another Xaela dominating me.” Leaning forward he grinned lustfully.

“I have made kin bend over for me, but only one had been able to make me do so for them. But alas… That was years ago… A time that I willingly want to forget.”

@snow-covered-moon - Shuri Fontaye/Angura: Fem Xaela Au Ra, white hair, mismatched eyes of white and blue, scales that are always changing but unique, beautiful flowing dresses that help her to dance.

@transcendentafflatus - Listelle: Fem Raen Au Ra, Royal blue hair, blue eyes, freckles, wears lots of blue dyed White Mage outfits, always wearing glasses and a shy smile.

@traveler-of-light - Astrid Lucis: Fem Xaela Au Ra, steel blue and silvery hair, light blue eyes with bright pink limbal rings, wears her Dragoon armor a lot and her lance isn’t ever far from her, just like Estinien.

@porta-decumana - So here are the two mains I always remember:

Kaida Asagiri: Fem Raen Au Ra, Brown or Teal hair, green eyes, tiny lizard with a big ass sword, she usually wears really nice armor to match that giant sword.

Cassius: Male Garlean (elezen model), Tall, blonde, handsome man with blue eyes and seen in either beautiful outfits or not much clothing, permanent bedroom eyes.

@frostmantle - Aurelia: Fem Garlean (midlander Hyur model), Wavy Blonde hair, lavender purple eyes, wears lots of flowy dresses and flowers in her hair, always looks soft unless she’s in Gunbreaker glam, then she looks badass.

@cassandra-wol - Cassandra Wolfe: Fem Garlean (highlander Hyur model), Brown hair, light eyes, brown skin, always wears a bandana and the best pirate glams ever!

What is this anon you speak of?

Does Eli have a preferred weapon if he has to go in combat? Would he prefer not being in combat altogether?

Also, does he like tea (asking for Smol Xaela who def wants to have tea)?

Right now, Eligos prefers to bring a modified All Saints Wake prop into combat. While he typically preferred the gunblade in the past, as well as rifles, he didn't have the heart to forge a new one to replace the old one his master gave him after it broke. The scythe was chosen because it serves dual purpose in combat. It allows for a wider sweep and has a larger range, and also is very much an effective distraction from the real weapon that those that fight him need to fear: his claws.

Eligos dislikes violence, but has long accepted that he needs to fight in order to earn his paycheck, and that the swiftest resolution when dealing with, in his words, 'those who listen only to force', is to have a display of force great enough that he's otherwise left alone and allowed to continue on his mission. If given the choice between an hour of arguing or a moment to pull a trigger, he picks the trigger consistently as it's both swifter and more certain a result. For the garlean, it all boils down to certainty, and heads will roll if he determines it'd be easier to just take a few lives than wasting time trying to argue to get them to stand aside with a low chance of success.

As for tea, Eligos currently is drinking a bit more of it than normal, and he doesn't mind it in the slightest, but he's also wary of eating and drinking anything of particularly strong flavor at this moment. He'd likely agree to tea if given cause, but not be able to give an honest, truthful answer on the taste! Instead, evaluations of the taste would polite and him judging off of scent, rather than flavor.

So how does Zero see and handle Hazel's awful snoring and sleeping habits? Does it bother her or does she find it cute?

Sleeping together was actually something Hazel avoided at first for that exact reason: she was afraid of Zero’s potential reaction. She kept making excuses at to why they couldn’t, like her apartment’s bed being “too small” and paying for a separate apartment room entirely when Zero visits.

Eventually Zero cut the bullshit and proposed the idea herself, following a questioning of Estinien who would absolutely be aware of Hazel’s sleeping habits following the Heavensward Road Trip and wouldn’t care in the slightest about repercussions for providing that information. Zero would take a bit to get used to it all but would accept Hazel’s snoring and clinging as just something she does, only doing slight adjustments to Hazel’s position when the Au Ra’s clinging makes it hard to breathe.

Perhaps even down the road the sound and presence could be comforting to Zero, knowing for certain her “Moon” is right there next to her. That everything that happened wasn’t simply a dream, both her world and herself were truly saved. And if reality was this incredible then her dreams could handle a bit of extra noise, couldn’t they?

Uhhh I mostly play tank jobs (Warrior/Dark Knight) and DPS for raids (Dancer). Those are my main ones, I’m leveling a couple of others but that’s mostly for lore/story stuff rather than me investing in playing them. I’m too nervous for healing haha

(Xaela) Last question. You said bby!Nox had Grave quiet days even as a toddler, so what does his first look like? When Ardyn is still mostly operating on panic and before he meets Axis and Porrima so he's still on his own, with his itty bitty nephew who gas just pulled ALL his magic in, making him feel like he's dead. So. Much. Panic. And if you want to go even worse, have Nox flinch from him when Ardyn tries to help. Because yes, Uncle might be safe /now/ but there was a long time he /wasn't/.

WHY MUST YOU HURT MY FEELS THIS WAY.

Yes. Yes this happened. It was not long after they time-traveled and Ardyn was at the height of his Panic and Nox senses the panic and gets distressed and so goes Quiet and Ardyn flips out and Nox is startled by Ardyn’s shout to he flinches without meaning it and Ardyn’s face just- crumbles before he forces himself to take a deep breath and calm down and coax Nox into calm.

Also also, do you know who panics the most behind Ardyn and Regis?

Because he knows that if Nox EVER bites the dust while he is on the same continent, Ardyn is going to take the loss out of Titus’s SOUL.
