today's hot take for dog people: management is not the same thing as training.
#dogblr#unpopular opinion: a lot of the current flavour of dog 'training' is actually just management#does your dog know how to make a good decision? does your dog know what a good decision even is?#or is your dog under such heavy management that they never ever have to make a decision on their own?#YES set your dog and yourself up for success!!!! absolutely!!!!#but (unpopular take) errorless learning is detrimental to overall wellbeing#stress is a part of life and of your dog crumples when they experience A Stress then you have a serious problem#teach resilience as a skill#dont misunderstand this on purpose#im not saying let your dog run wild unruly unmanaged#im saying train your skills and then trust your training#when it is safe to do so let your dog make a decision#(this is not in response to anyone on here#i am casual irl acquaintances with a service dog handler and i do not respect her handling/training/management#i am very frustrated with the lack of nuance between training vs management#and the beautiful space where they overlap#people who are here from Not The Dog World#management is setting up your environment so your dog makes the decision you want#eg using a long line so your dog has no choice but to come when called#training is teaching your dog to make the decision you want them to make#ideally you would use both (management while training) but the current flavour of dog training#tends to put all responsibility on you as the person#to manage your environment so the dog never has the opportunity to make a mistake#instead of training your dog so they understand what the 'right' choice is and WANT to choose that most of the time#i am braced for the deliberate misunderstandings that are likely to come out of this post#THERE IS NUANCE PEOPLE

omg wait yeah a notif tag about the "isopods are cringe" thing just reminded me: you ever see that post on here with an addition where someone shyly tagged it with, "I know possums are "out" but-" what do you mean out they're an animal 😭 don't let people who twist themselves up trying to be unauthentically different to stay on trend make you insecure, none of this matters
#I think a problem this site has is that#despite people who move exclusively in circles of adults insisting this place has no children on it#it absolutely does. social media/blogging platforms have a Huge youth userbase#and sometimes one of those users - still self-conscious about their place in the world#because they're still in a judgemental school environment and that's how people act - will post something like#''lmao ok can we all admit now that [x] was never good''#then it gains traction around all ages. and people who should really know better start going... is this cringe?#oh no I don't want to be cringe! I'd better move onto this new trend instead!#without registering that this is the opinion of a 14-year-old who had a bad day that broke containment#now if this mentality actually originates from an adult that's. embarrassing lmao#(slightly older adults. 20-21 is still acceptable to be a bit like this)#but you shouldn't care about their opinion either. it's exhausting to be someone with an outlook like theirs

on one hand I totally understand tropes are popular but on the other hand I think Amos is a lot more compelling as a middle aged woman trying to figure out her life after a loveless relationship than a mother figure ya know
#it's like. oh has anyone read price of salt? It's like carol. she's in a mess trying to figure things out#and dragging anyone close to her into that mess#bc she spent so long in an environment where she is both not getting enough attention from one who she wants#and getting attention from others who are 'below' her. not that she conciously sees people as below her but i think society#would tell Amos that she has a higher role on the hierarchy as Deca's lover than anyone else in mondstadt#...now i'm imagining an old mond rebellion where the original goal was something like 'tear down the walls reform deca' and then Amos joine#went 'no I'm gonna kill him' and the rebellion went '....okay that doesn't sound like a terrible idea he IS the one keeping the walls up'#nb's goal after all was to break down the walls and see the sky right not explicitly to kill a god#.......puts this idea in my pocket to maybe play with#saying that my initial idea of her was also viss er one / eva anim orphs based but sim idea. middle aged woman#upper class middle aged divorced woman amos who has her hands full dealing with the fallout of her own life and making it everyone's proble#i just really like Problematic Woman#saying that carol did kinda really mother therese but also their relationship was uhhhh unequal. Just a Bit#also viss e r one and eva are also both defined by motherhood in a way#except eva is 'long left the role behind bc the world thinks she's dead and her body isn't even hers anymore'#and vis ser one is 'she should NOT be a mother she is a whole empire's tactician for a reason'#anyway don't mind me waking up and starts rambling about Opinions bc my dream supplied me Stress of Snakes#<- thinks snakes are cool but has a healthy respect of them irl idk Where that dream came from#genshin talk

#hatake kakashi#kakashi hatake#manga screencap#ch.008#& sasuke#& naruto#& sakura#fascinating how in naruto world you can break the rules but not too much. stuck in this perpetual environment where#you gotta be a good soldier for the good state but also the cast is full of people Standing Up against vague Authority#but the state is still good#dont break the rules too much but also u gotta break them dont let people tell u waht to do.#more of a writing issue than any given character flaw imo but it is interesting to take in a like. character level i guess#esp bc as it goes on itjust draws more and more attention to itself#knowing that an underdog character is more likely to be likable vs doing anything with it. I guess.#anyway you arent here for Some Cunts serious opinions on naruto the most youre here for is me cooing over sasuke in the tags#that being said im sure its no surprise ihave the opinions i do. given that i see sasuke and go (points) beautiful baby boy baby

as a huge spyro year of the dragon fan i Hate the reignited trilogy they took all the charm and nostalgia out of it BUT ... spyro's walking/running animation ? they perfected that.
#qktalks#world's most satisfying animation i could watch him hop around like that for hours. he's so ........ noodle-like#but they also took away his slow wing-flap animation from the original#like the one that's used when he's just standing there. he flaps his wings out very slowly in a constant rhythm#they took that away too. garbage game 0/10 /silly#they also made hunter .......so fucking ugly ?? whyd they do that to him . he didn't deserve this#for people unfamiliar with spyro look up spyro 3 original hunter vs reignited hunter you'll wanna vomit#idk i feel like reignited just didn't need to be made ?#a port of the original woulda been fucking BOMB. im of the opinion that old games don't Need to be remade#they just need to be ported/remastered or Whatever. and maybe tinkered with a Little if some aspect of the game was horrid for any reason#but also im of the opinion that u CAN do a good remake. if ur careful.#i don't think spyro needed all those graphic upgrades or that cartoonish realism#yeah the environments r pretty and they did a fine job w that i don't have an issue with the environments i have an issue w the characters#overall i think ?? bianca was done pretty well. she looks similar enough in face-shape to 3's original design#can't rly pinpoint anything in particular that's strange abt her. maybe her eyes? but idk what they coulda done differently#the sorceress is fine ... i kinda wish they made her head a little wider and kept the gradual change in scale color intact but#she's okay too#the fairies look bad<33333#spyro himself .... he looks okay ?#there's something Different about his face shape i kinda wish they'd kept everything a bit .... smaller? idk how to describe it#but it doesn't bother me that much i think they did a good job. lord knows they did better than skylanders .............#i also have an issue with the animations in general#idk how to explain it but the Way the characters move ............. it irks me#it's just so unnatural ? how they move and gesture when they talk? it's not Bad Animation it looks rly good graphically speaking#but idk. this isn't a spyro thing in particular it's just that animation style that i dislike#playing reignited just makes me sad. playing the original comforts me. playing reignited makes me sad that im not playing the original#u can remake an old game made of approximately 18 polygons and make it look good AND make it look like the original#u just have to be careful about the geometry and the level of detail and the eye shapes

Fuck it I feel controversial:
Thomas Barrow is Izzy Hands written right.
#an angry queer man caught in a time period & environment that doesn’t appreciate his intelligence or loyalty#taking it out on the entire world by being a manipulative asshole and generally unpleasant person to be around#who eventually grows as a person though being in an environment & with people who facilitate growth & kindness#while still remaining kind of an asshole but everyone kind of accepts it cos he’s THEIR asshole#but Thomas actually had the time for this arc to develop & be believable#and is forced to face the consequences of his actions and directly rectify them#hot take#controversial opinion#downtown abbey#thomas barrow#our flag means death#ofmd#izzy hands#character study#character archetypes

Need your noir charden thoughts Im begging
unfortunately theyre als messy and jumbled as all my thoughts are but i think they have a deeply passionate „forbidden“ love affair. they keep ending up on the opposite sites of a conflict but dennis wants charlie sooo bad (normal charden accurate) he doesnt even really care and keeps betraying his own interests. the sexual tension is insane i think. dennis goes to charlie alone and charlie is like „where is ur guard dog“ and dennis goes „i left him in the car“ and then charlie bends dennis over the table in the back office and fucks him and eats him out until hes trembling and then they step out of the office and dennis rights his hat and goes „pleasure doing business with ya“ or whatever people say in noir movies and charlie watches through the window as mac opens the car door for dennis and asks him if everything went according to plan and dennis just chuckles and says „it sure did.“ and twirls his toothpick around and mac is too nervous to notice the slight wince as he sits down. anyways
#asks#i also think dennis should seduce charlie in a pretty nightie with red lipstick etc but thats hust my personal preference running wild#i think charlie calls dennis doll and because his gender is still wacky in noir verse dennis blushes so much u can see it in the grey filter#or u could if it was an episode. it would be fun if everything in their world was actually monochrome with only red#noir is a hostile environment for mac but i think dennis keeps him clueless to retain his loyalty#dennis alternates between sucking dick and smoking a cigar. who said that#regular dennis has an oral fixation (source my opinion and im always right) but noir den is always chewing on that toothpick. im just saying#guy that constantly needs something in his mouth

the more i think bout it, the more i realize i didn't really like scp-6001. besides the bland references to previous scps, it just felt way too idealistic, especially with all the groups of interest coming together to one big organization, with one group specializing in one thing (paraphasing and remembering off the top of my head).
i think the reason why it didn't work for me is that the "twist" is that there really is not much wrong with the society, like it's not a crapsack world in disguise. and im actually glad that wasn't the case! but it would've been nice to see at least some problem within 6001 actually be explored in a section. maybe it could be overpopulation or occasional government incompetence, but it would've been nice to have a message that even 6001 isn't completely perfect, that it still has it's own problems but is handling them relatively well. from what i can remember the only problem that i saw was dragons, which could've also been nice to explore, but alas.
and if i remember correctly, the entrance to 6001 is in Japan. this seems intentional, and seeing as how 6001 is a near perfect place, the placement of the entrance to 6001 being in japan implies a correlation. but japan also has its own batch of problems, be it in its work culture, judicial system, or- as i said before- government incompetence from time to time. this isn't to say the author had to be aware of shit like that when writing, but the placement specifically being in japan just feels over-idealized, from the eyes of a tourist. and maybe that's the point, since the main protag is technically a tourist being guided by the cat scientist.
but hey, it was still better than scp-6000
#scp foundation#scp#thats just my opinion tho#despite everything 6001 is just boring. that's my overall opinion of it#the discussion page for 6001 on scp ru wiki pretty much encapsulates my overall opinions#the scp is worldbuilding incarnate which isnt bad but worldbuilding involves looking into consequences and problems that arise#from culture; environment; or otherwise#also the condescending superiority of the world is annoying sorry

my take on starscream and windblade is i genuinely think their dynamic by the end of the series rocks. when starscream is incredibly fond of her and respexts her and sees her as not only an incredibly capable leader but a fundementally good and better person. and windblade is like 😬 starscream? well shes dead now so we never ever have to unpack all that. so uh. lets move on.
#SHE DOESNT FUCKING LIKE HER.#like i think if stsc had lived windblades general opinion wouldve been girl im proud of you and your#growth or whatever but like can you retire or something. stay away from me.#like i think wb meant it when she said she wanted stsc to get better and believed she could. but i dont think theyre ever going to be#friends. im of the opinion that death + the haunting is the best ending for starscream#and that its really the only environment for her that is conducive to fully truly healing and being at peace#like idk i think she was miserable and there would be no future in which people let her 'escape punishment' nor one where shes interested#in doing that even with bee and windblade in her corner. and i just idk#i think she needs space to be alone out from the public eye#and away from all the pressures that kept her spiraling over and over her whole life#and i just. the way exrid was set up i just dont think there was room for her to do that on cybertron#but i dont think shes healthy enough to realize that and leave#and i think 'noble sacrifice that returns her dignity and gives her comfort'#and 'true freedom to be herself no more and no less with the company of someone who actually likes and cares about her with no#responsibility or risk to her physical or mental health'#is like. really the best of both worlds i think it was good for her.#fix its where she gets brought back are cute and all but honestly i dont know. would she even want that. it would change everything#when shes finally for once comfortable and at peace#yk sometimes death is a GOOD THING IN NARRATIVES and she DIDNT EVEN REALLY ALL THE WAY DIE so like i thibk its fine.#i miss her tho. god i miss idw.

#oh boy#was in a social group zoom thing this evening#and we were reviewing the guidelines for fair conduct and all of that whatnot which comes with being in a talk-based group#and someone took issue with the use of and definition given for the word ‘crosstalk’#saying that they’re in a 12 step group and ‘well ackshually ‘crosstalk’ means this’#to ‘well ackshually’ a ‘well ackshually’#the definition they gave is just what you generally see in zoom step groups *these days*#there is no definition of ‘crosstalk’ as handed down from the world service office#in other groups I’ve been in that aren’t 12 step#the general notion of ‘crosstalk’ is talking over the top of one another#or interrupting#usually to disagree or add an opinion or offer unsolicited advice#it doesn’t mean ‘you can never comment on what someone else said’#or ‘you can never add to the point someone made in the the thing they just shared’#maybe it does in that person’s particular step group#but it really depends on the individual social group of any particular flavor#the group itself must decide how to phrase the concept of ‘being a rude pushy dolt’#and for a lot of groups the word which sums it up best—esp in environments where talking over each other is made very easy—is crosstalk#i have no problem with them making a point or sharing the definition that they’re familiar with#but it’s not law handed down from on high by Bill Goddamn Wilson#fortunately someone else with some experience of in-person groups from the ‘90s was able to give their opinion#yes i said something but in more of a ‘here’s my experience and here’s what other groups I’m in have to say about this concept’#but I’m happy to report that i didn’t roll my eyes#12 step principles and conduct is my trigger to deal with#and so I’m dealing with it here by writing a fucking essay in the tags because buhhhhh my gaahhhhhd#okay#the 12 step hater is laying down the microphone gently as to reduce the feedback and squealing and not hurt y’all with my personal issues

people calling Wuthering Heights a romance has me tweaking, genuinely.
#i will fight people on this i'm so deadass#it is a story of cyclical domestic abuse and codependent relationships#does it have quotes that are very romantic? yes it does i will not deny that#some of the things that cathy and heathcliff say are very beautiful but when you look at it through the lense of-#two children who were abused by the people meant to take care of them and whose bond changed in a very unhealthy way-#as a way to cope in an unsafe environment the perspective starts to shift.#when reading it i read cathy as someone who never really fully grew up and heathcliff was just horrible to both cathy and literally everyon#when you look at his background it's very understandable and I can see how that could have happened#he was abandoned as a child and was very malnurished before the start of the book i can hardly imagine what his life was like#and he experiences more trauma afterwards however he treats others so horribly that it can't be excused#his relationship with cathy was unhealthily codependent i mean bro literally dug up cathys dead body to lay next to it#there is no world and no context where that is healthy#i have similar opinions on Jane Eyre i was tweaking near the end i swear#forgive my yap session

sorry for ryan pete posting to main they make me sick what was their deal
#ryan was eighteen when they first met he was!!!!!! a BABY!!!!!!! my sweet summer child. ... . ..#truly truly insane how young the members of panic were when they shot to fame and how. I get the impression at least. the label/scene they#were a part of was NOT the healthiest coming-of-age environment. Not to mention insane teenage fanbases#hell. hell!!!! but they were young no doubt vulnerable + impressionable what other choice did they have.!#again i know technically they were legal adults but in the grand scheme of life (and as someone whos currently 19 LOL) getting soo famous s#fast even at 17/18/19 i would still consider at least somewhat on par w the hell child stars go thru...obv being a legal adult gave them#a bit of freedom to do what they wanted instead of having their career decided by their parents/adults. but its still so young and to have#the Whole World (or at least thousands of teenagers) keeping their eyes on you seems so. 😟#like let me be a messy young adult in seclusion thankyou#oh this rambling veered SO far from tge main post LOL#whatev#i havemany thoughts & opinions#cowboy posts

The valyrians salted the burning wreckage of old ghis to make sure nothing could ever grow again and in turn the wreckage of their empire is so inhospitable to life that anything that goes near it dies and aegon the conqueror put a blood curse on the burning wreckage of harrenhal so that nothing could ever survive there and in turn King’s Landing is going to be reduced to absolutely nothing. But when Daenerys the very last Targaryen leaves the world there won’t be a Targaryen on the iron throne and there might not even be dragons anymore but there WILL be a thousand thousand people who were able to build a home and plant a lemon tree in front because of her❤️
The most compelling thing about daenerys targaryen to me really is that she is the very last one of them. No restoration no encores the prince the targaryens destroyed themselves promising is a little girl who cannot look back so the only home she can return to is the one she makes out of the world for everyone else with nothing to return to. That’s everything…
#even in rainy cold environments where it seems implausible that citrus fruit could grow there. trust☝️#asoiaf#and that’s my dany opinions. she is the return of magic to the world and she’s the very end of her line. it’s so much.#I wish I liked reading her chapters more but Jorah keeps showing up

one of the best decisions i've ever made was to stop arguing.
i'd always been an arguer. i was defensive about everything and mindlessly contrary. it wasn't all my fault; i was (and still am) talked down to and patronized a lot, and when you live your life that way, you become kind of a raw nerve and dedicate a lot of energy to trying to prove yourself. someone even told me once, "it's just fun messing with you. you get so upset."
at 23, i was working in an environment where about a half dozen middle aged conservative men were always telling me what to do and explaining things to me. i either argued with them when they said heinous things or stewed about it for hours or even days. and so my new year's resolution one year was simply: no arguing.
it felt a little like defeat at first, like i was no longer standing up for what i believed in, even though no matter how right i was or how much proof i had for my claims, no one had ever been swayed by anything i told them. part of that was because they had no respect for me and didn't take me seriously; the other part was the simple truth that arguments are almost never productive. when someone says something and you immediately reply with, "you're wrong and here's why," a wall goes up and nothing can go over it.
i couldn't just let these men talk at me though, so i started asking questions. not leading questions, not with an intention to prove a point or walk them into a corner. i genuinely wanted to understand how they came to shape the opinions they held. i realized that understanding and agreeing are two different things, and just because i seek to understand doesn't mean i condone.
a truly fascinating thing happened: these men walked into corners all by themselves. it turns out nobody had ever actually tasked them with speaking their opinions aloud to a neutral audience. no one had ever been sincerely curious about them and their views. sure, their loved ones probably asked, "how are you doing?" all the time as a show of affection, but that's much different than, "what do you think?"
knowing what i know now, i think that's true of everyone. how many people ask you for your opinion and listen to what you have to say without speaking their opinion back to you? without judging you? how many people actively and intentionally try to understand you?
it's been over ten years since my resolution and i think i can count the arguments i've gotten into on one hand. one finger, even. it's amazing what happens when someone tries to rile you up, pick a fight with you, and your only response is, "can you elaborate on that?"
you can work someone into a very open and vulnerable state when you ask questions. they eventually run out of their usual talking points and move into the personal. when i do this, it's not like therapy; i'm not trying to help anyone. and it's not like teaching; i'm not trying to educate anyone. i just want to understand how people reach the conclusions they've come to. even after all these years of asking questions and not arguing, it still amazes me how few people in this world feel understood, and how easy it is to get them to open up when you say, "i want to know what you think."

I think everyone should turn off the internet for like at least a year I think. Humans are not supposed to be exposed to the World Wide Web for 35 constant years. We need gap years.
#truly humans are not supposed to be exposed to a constant stream of opinions from all over the globe from sunrise to sunset#because like#thing is i could say something completely applicable to the world near me yet someone from another place entirely will read that and#subconsciously assume it's made to be apply to them and their environment#and therefore causes confusion and outrage#everyones so snippy with each other because we're constantly defending our own opinions even if its just in our heads#i know we're all casually addicted and its making us cranky but peace and love everyone. remember peace and love?
