I've seen non Iranians admiring the Islamic Republic national football team for not singing the national anthem. And then they were confused as to why iranians were happy that the team lost. Yes not singing the anthem might have consequences for them, but it won't change the fact that these people went to visit Raisi, the Islamic Republic president and bowed to him, posed happily for pictures while we were dealing with Kiam Pirfalak news, and said they don't care about politics and what's going on Iran in an interview, stating that they will focus on the game only. Not singing the anthem is nothing in comparison. And you might think they were under pressure. So were other athletes in Iran, let's see what they did:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Picture on the right is Elnaz Rekabi, an Iranian rock climber who was the first athlete to take off her hijab during Mahsa Amini protests to show her solidarity with people. She's currently under house arrest. she wasn't the first Iranian woman ever doing that. On the left, that's Shohreh Bayat, her story is so sad.
In many interviews I've seen of her, she always cries when she says her story. She was to referee the final of the Women's World Chess Championship a couple of years ago. While in another country she decided to wear her hijab loosely in an act of rebellion. She got warning from Islamic Republic twice and everytime she made it worse. She was asked to apologize but she refused, saying that she wouldn't apologize for what she believes in. At last, even though she wasn't ready to leave everything behind and start from scratch in a foreign country, she decided to ditch the compulsory hijab completely and never come back to Iran, because her life would be in danger if she did. Because of her choice she can't come back to visit her family anymore. her family supported her which made the authorities to force her father to resign (her father was the president of chess association in Gilan, Iran).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then we had Iranian national beach soccer team. I think they were the first group who refused to sing Islamic republic national anthem. And after they got threatened to sing the anthem, they did something even more iconic. One of the players cut his imaginary hair after he scored.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then we had these two scenes after scoring. They were recreating an inhuman thing Islamic republic did. The guy on the right is Khodanoor Lajei. He was murdered on bloody Friday in Zahedan. He was a Baloch guy. I'm going to post about Balochs and the thing that's been done to them by Islamic republic in details. For now know that this guy got killed in protests but this picture of him is for a couple of months back. He insulted a Basiji guy or something, Islamic republic police chained him to a pole in the middle of the city to make him an example for others, after beating him. When he asked for water they brought him a cup but they put it out of his reach in front of him and laughed at his thirst. (You see why we hate Islamic Republic, IRGC and Basij?!) The picture got out only after his death because Baloch people didn't think the rest of Iran would care about them enough to react. That broke my heart unspeakably much.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With so much bravery, our national girl's basketball team has been posting photos without mandatory hijab ever since the protests have begun.
Tumblr media
Last but not least, Parmida Ghasemi, iranian archer ditching mandatory hijab inside of iran. She took it out for receiving the prize and while she was being photographed.
(Btw, non of these women "forgot" their hijab accidentally. If you're iranian you learn to never forget your hijab since you're 7, the age you start school. Without a formal head wearing you won't be allowed to attend school classes. When you grow up with it, you'll get used to it. You have no idea how weird it feels to not wear a veil in public, I'm still getting used to it.)
we've witnessed many iconic brave moves by our athletes but non of them said we don't give a shit about what's happening in Iran before the game. I'm not saying they won't be redeemed one day, I'm just saying they should work to win their respect back.

Who is the Cricket World's Best Player?
Tumblr media
The question of who is the greatest cricketer of all time has been a perennial debate among fans and pundits alike. While the answer is often subjective and influenced by personal biases, there are several players who have consistently dominated the sport and made a strong case for the title. Let's explore some of the contenders and the factors that contribute to their greatness.
The Modern Era Dominators: Kohli, Smith, and Kane Williamson
Tumblr media
The past decade has witnessed the rise of three exceptional talents who have redefined the standards of batting. Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, and Kane Williamson have consistently produced match-winning performances across all formats, solidifying their status as the modern era's premier batsmen.
♯1. Virat Kohli: The Indian captain's aggressive style, impeccable timing, and ability to adapt to different conditions have made him a nightmare for bowlers. His record-breaking centuries and his leadership qualities have cemented his place among the all-time greats.
♯2. Steve Smith: The Australian's unorthodox technique and his ability to score runs at will have made him a force to be reckoned with. Smith's consistency and his ability to perform under pressure have earned him widespread admiration.
♯3. Kane Williamson: The New Zealand captain's elegant strokeplay and his calm demeanor have made him a joy to watch. Williamson's ability to anchor the innings and his match-winning performances have solidified his reputation as one of the best batsmen in the world.

♯1. Imran Khan: The former Pakistan captain's swing bowling and his classy batting made him a complete cricketer. His leadership qualities and his contributions to his country's success have earned him legendary status.
♯2. Kapil Dev: The Indian fast bowler's ability to swing the ball both ways and his useful batting made him a valuable asset to the team. His leadership in the 1983 World Cup-winning team cemented his place in Indian cricket history.
♯3. Jacques Kallis: The South African all-rounder's consistency and his ability to perform in all conditions have made him one of the greatest cricketers of his generation. His contributions with both bat and ball have been invaluable to his country.

The Timeless Greats: Don Bradman, Sachin Tendulkar, and West Indies Legends
Tumblr media
While the modern era has produced some exceptional talents, there are a few players who have transcended generations and are considered among the greatest of all time. Don Bradman, Sachin Tendulkar, and the West Indies legends of the 1970s and 1980s are among the most revered names in cricket history.
♯1. Don Bradman: The Australian legend's batting average of 99.98 remains the highest in Test cricket history. His dominance over bowlers and his ability to score runs at will have made him a mythical figure in the sport.
♯2. Sachin Tendulkar: The Indian "Master Blaster" broke countless records during his illustrious career. His ability to adapt to different conditions and his consistency have made him one of the most beloved cricketers of all time.

PREACH!!!
While I am sad, of course, that Canada did not make it to the knock-out stages of the World Cup (and yet simultaneously chuffed that Nigeria did, and that co-hosts Australia did!) I am very, very, very proud of these players! And unlike that journalist who had the fucking shameless nerve to ask Jessie Fleming what she had to say "to the people who woke up early" to watch them play against the Matildas, I don't think they have to apologize for anaything! It's sports, it's cruel sometimes! It's what's also makes it so beautiful.
If anyone has to apologize, it's the Federation, that takes Canada's talented footballers for granted and refuse to back them up with the resources they need to make that talent shine. Shame on them, and them only! CANWNT did, as always, the country proud!

Mile-High (Fluff)
Tumblr media
Btw, h/c stands for home country
N/L= Native Language
Y/n poured the soft and mellow bottle of Cristal into the polished flute and listened to the tightly-knit bubbles pop. After pouring a few glasses of champagne, she placed them on a pale white tray and picked it up before walking out towards the wide aisle. She spotted an athletic and slightly lean figure with his legs crossed in a feminine fashion. He wore tight-ish light khakis, and clean, all white shoes. His foot jostled up and down, and his finger tapped his ankle. Upon looking and walking closer, she noticed that his wrist had a silver watch on it (and there was no ring on his finger) she mentally noted before snickering at the silly remark. Y/n was used to seeing attractive men, as she was a flight attendant for a private airline, meaning there was often profesional athletes, especially those in the premier league, so she kept it extremely profesional. There had been one time in which she met an athlete she had idolized since she was a young child, upon serving him some food, he grasped her hand, before muttering something in a foreign language, then winking at her. To say she was flustered would have been an understatement, however, she simply kept her cool and smiled, before speed walking back to her colleagues to practically fangirl about the occurrence.
Y/n continued walking down the aisle and stopped once reaching the first seat. There, in the posh, leather seats, sat a man with dark brown eyes to match his curly dark brown hair. He was reading a novel, his eyebrows furrowed as if he were concentrated. Y/n wasn’t stupid, she knew this was Cristiano Ronaldo, yet still, the sight caught her slightly off guard. She could see that he was focused on his book, so she slightly squatted to place the champagne on brown table in front of him. The sound of the flared base was barely audible, yet apparently it was loud enough to startle Cristiano. His eyes darted from his novel to her as he raised his eyebrows. Y/n’s eyes widen, and she lets out a mixture of an awkward laugh and a scoff.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you, sir” she apologized, Cristiano then looked at her and bared a smile, revealing a set of white teeth. He then let out a deep and breathy laugh (which Y/n thought sounded a little funny) before assuring in a coy manner “It’s no problem, Querida.” Y/n paused while trying to remember what that meant, yet Cristino said “It means Darling.”
“Oh.” Muttered Y/n, she squinted her eyes and looked to the side, then let out another awkward laugh. “Well, thank you, Sir.” She began to walk down the aisle again, but Cristiano halted her. “Wait, sit down, could you keep me company for a few minutes?.” Y/n paused and looked around, her eyes then fell on her colleague, who was apparently listening, nodded towards her, and mouthed “Go ahead.” Before smiling and sticking out her tongue. Whilst still observing her friend, Y/n opened her mouth and stammered “Oh, yeah! Sure thing, Sir.” as she lowered herself onto the seat across from him.
“You can just call me Cristiano,” he assured, “And by the way, what’s your name?”
“My name is Y/n L/n.” She answered, “Tell me about yourself, Y/n.” he promptly requested. “Alright, well, I was born and raised in h/c. After I turned twenty, I decided to move to France as a flight attendant. I really enjoyed the idea of being able to travel, and it helped me to improve my speaking in many different languages.” She said as Cristiano stared at her, and listened intently, “I’m never really at my home in France, but I don’t mind, it’s honestly not my favorite place.” Cristiano then nodded before continuing his questions, “I love traveling too, I think my favorite place to have gone is probably Madrid. What about you, Y/n?” The sound of him saying her name sounded strange and exciting to Y/n, it felt so bizarre to converse so casually with such a notable person. “When I first became a flight attendant, one of my first flights was to Indonesia. In my opinion, the architecture and beauty is superior to any other place I’ve ever been.”
Y/n continued to ramble about the beautiful countries she had visited, whilst Cristiano observed the way she spoke and gestured so passionately. He could tell she was getting distracted and the topic got her excited. He believed that this was cute, he liked watching how fast her mouth moved, and the way her eyebrows raised and lowered frequently. She spoke in an animated sort of way, yet tried to keep her volume down in a courteous manner for the resting passengers. She’d occasionally drop remarks and jokes that caused him to bite his lip to keep from bursting out in laughter. As the conversation continued, Y/n’s became visibly much more relaxed. Her posture had shifted, and her legs had now been crossed in an awkward yet supposedly comfortable fashion.
“I recall you mentioned that you speak multiple languages, what do you speak?” He asked, “I’m fluent in English, Spanish, French and N/L.” “That’s brilliant! Do you speak any Portuguese?”
“No, but since I’m fluent in Spanish and French, I just conjugate when speaking with someone in Portuguese.” Cristiano nodded as Y/n continued to ramble about life as a flight attendant, and her education. Her words seemed almost trivial to him, as he couldn’t concentrate on what she was saying. He was mesmerized by her obvious passion and speaking skills. Most guys often said things about not wanting a girl who talks much, but Cristiano was the exact opposite. He loved observing Y/n’s mannerisms and expressions, he would describe it as “intriguing.”
After what had seemed like an hour of talking, the pilot over the intercom abruptly proclaimed after some slight turbulence: “Flight attendants, prepare for landing please,Cabin crew, please take your seats for landing. Ladies and gentlemen, we have begun our descent into Turin, Italy.”
Y/n looked up towards the cockpit and slowly got up before Cristiano paused her. “Wait, Y/n, how long will you be in Italy before you have to get on another flight?” He asked.
She quickly paused to think, “Four days.” She answered.
“Perfect,” he interjected, “after my game tomorrow, do you want to go get dinner?” Y/n felt her face heat up, and looked around. “Yeah totally.” Y/n stammered. Cristiano then handed her his phone, signaling for her to place her number in it. “I’ll call you tomorrow, Cristiano.” Y/n said with a smile as she looked down at the screen and placed her number in his contacts. After that he didn’t say much, just “Thank you.” Before grinning and shaking her hand as she got up to walk back towards her colleague, who was practically stalking the two during their entire conversation. Y/n got up and trudged back to her friend who practically tackled her with questions once she knew everyone else was out of earshot.
“You got his number? The Cristiano Ronaldo? You’re a Mack daddy at this point.”
Y/n rolled her eyes, “Okay, never say Mack daddy again, but I guess I am quite a pimp.” She said as she giggled.
“Do you think he could set me up with one of the other team members?” Her friend rhetorically asked, causing the two to burst out in laughter. “I don’t know, he probably could.” Said Y/n as she shrugged. “Okay but, you have to let me help you get ready for the date, no exceptions, you owe me one for me taking over your service duties while you were flirting with a professional athlete.”
“Alright, you can help me get ready.” Y/n confirmed. Her friend did a silent cheer and a strange dance before slapping her on the back and exclaiming: “Thank you!”
Please let me know if you have any advice or criticism :)

We are all Montiel right now.
That's what we heard as he prepared to kick the final penalty.
His mom says she never watches and he's never missed one so far. She used to play futbol for Laferrere and worked as a cleaner.
Gonzalo has an old tatoo of three stars, but it's not destiny. It's for his friends who died in a shooting. His grandfather was shot too, when he was 7. He sold fruit from a cart drawn by a horse.
Those were phased out, now people push huge carts themselves.
When he was 10 he made River's junior team. It was a 2.5hr trip each way with two connections in public transport. He eventually made the trip on his own. By 12 the family decided that he should live at River's boarding for young players.
It's less than 40km, but that's what happens when decades of latam shit mean one fifth of the population live in one huge metro area.
He has 10 titles already and jumped into a trashcan after the final 🤣
