I think it's so funny that people are behaving as though all the Disco Elysium spiritual successors are effectively equivalent.
Cause Dark Math's press releases are all along the lines of "We're making a super cool edgy detective RPG. It's gonna be just like Disco Elysium, except with less words and more bullets, because who likes reading, am I right? Anyways, it's gonna be sooo cool and way more fun than Disco Elysium 😎"
And Longdue has said "uhhh yeah we're not really ready to talk about specifics yet. There's probably gonna be some weird psychological dream stuff going on. Idk. It's gonna be fun trust us"
Meanwhile Summer Eternal has hardly done any interviews, and if you read their manifesto and blog entries they're all like "Capitalism and insatiable corporate greed have irrevocably damaged the infant medium of video games. Workers in our field are treated as commodities at best and entirely disposable at worst. We intend to do everything in our power to create an uncompromised, complete, and unapologetic work of art, or we will do down trying. This isn't about making the next Elysium, this is about making something entirely new and revolutionary."

How Things Work: If the coop model can succeed in Minneapolis, that would significantly undermine the power of Uber and Lyft's threats to pull out of other cities in the future. Do you interact directly with those companies at all? Do they view you as a threat? Do they try to actively hold you back, or do they mostly leave you alone? What's your message to regular people about why they should use you, rather than those ubiquitous apps?
Forman: We're somewhere between the "first they ignore you" and "then they laugh at you" phases. People should use us because on average, we're a little cheaper than Uber, and drivers make 10% above the minimum wage. And it's worker-owned. We're building lasting power in this industry in a democratic, worker-controlled organization.
How Things Work: For people who can see the logic of a driver's cooperative, what's the best way to help—in Minneapolis, and also in cities that don't have such a thing yet?
Forman: For people who want to help—please download the app and share it with friends. We just created a new feature where you can see how many drivers and riders have been recruited in your area, and you can easily share the app with a QR code and other tools. Also, we certainly need funds to get this done. If you can, donate a bit to the effort to build a co-op in Minneapolis.

I wish we got more non-humanoid species as regular starfleet crew members. I know that budgetary constraints are real. And I don't want to take away from, or hide the performance of human actors starring on a TV show-- we want to show human diversity and excellence. But I feel I have to suspend my disbelief to trust the Federation welcomes all peaceful sentient life when almost everyone on the bridge is some kind of Hominid Biped.
I want to believe that there are some civilizations that find encountering a Starfleet vessel 'ridiculous':
You break down in space and your distress call is connected by an evolved dolphin. She has somebody place a BLÅVINGAD at the chair every time she remotely covers this station.
The captain comes on screen and he's an 80 year old furry. He is standing slightly to the side because the conn officer's giant Aurelian bird wings get in the way of the forward screen camera.
You explain your situation about your busted engines. The captain nods and asks a dinosaur in a onesie about how much time the crew on duty has available. This is his first officer.
After consulting the lead engineer (a goth), it looks like if 'everybody' wants to attend the rave on board tonight this is a two-day job.
As a compromise and a show of goodwill, the captain invites you to the rave and also throws in free health care. A giant non-anthropomorphic spider beams aboard your ship. She's the chief medical officer.

Decided to make a diagram of evolutionary & cosmetic changes made over time using one of my photos as a base. PA stands for Post-Anthropocene, not their system for measuring time but useful for contextualization.

I woke up today with a weird unbalanced dizziness and literally can't walk in a straight line? I walked almost directly into a wall after getting up because my steps were veering so badly to the right???

Our convention will be sponsored by Start Coop. http://Start.coop is a nonprofit organization that helps people start and grow worker-owned businesses!
Also, you can find a sneak peak of Chiarra's keynote speech for the convention here.

cons of going to a “good schoolTM”: insane workload, unbearable classmates, next to no support when you have any kind of extenuating circumstances Including literal hospitalization, etc
pros of going to a “good schoolTM”: the 9-5 lifestyle is genuinely a major improvement
#taylor.txt#the extenuating circumstances point was not me btw. i know someone who had his degree delayed an entire year because of two weeks in psych#we’re in a co-op program or else maybe it wouldve just been one semester but. lol#i hate it here…i hate it#but hey…at least i have the world’s shittiest health insurance!#some of my classmates say they dont feel like working full-time is easier than going to school full-time but it so is#for me. anyway. even when i fumbled my time management bad on the field and make no mistake i was incredibly busy plus i chose a field#notorious for Unpaid Overtime and Taking Your Work Home. even then. it was still easier than this#i would never do undergrad again. i loved everything i learned. i took interesting and awesome classes#but i would never ever do it again. miserable overworked spent most of it friendless until i got on the field#i have a friend who keeps being like idk how you did 4 physics classes this sem and im like girl we are education students…thats an average#semester for a physics major. how must THEY feel#also i have to say just you know. generally. ive worked full-time while living with my parents#AND while living alone. and 50 hours a week was incredibly manageable in the former arrangement. i even wrote and edited an entire novel#in the beginning stages of a pandemic while working 50 hours a week of retail and fast food hell. 40 hours full-time with weekends off#while living alone though? thats hard. i still managed to go to the gym almost every day#currently? i cant get out of bed in the morning. i am putting in 12 hour days and then goinng to bed unable to sleep because im so stressed#i have dreams about school. tangentially theres a really good marxist poem i read last year about this phenomenon in workers#ANYWAY. i have just 8 more days 4 exams 1 research paper and video project#i think i can pass and then thats it. my next semester is hell but just because scheduling the actual classes will be easy#and then i get to go back on the field and actually want to wake up every day. lol#and 8 days from now i will have my christmas shopping done and my apartment will be clean and i will be a fanfic writing machine#also my friends and i booked a demolition room so im sure that will be beneficial kfldjfldndks

The Corner Cup is a queer-owned, cryptid-themed coffee shop in conservative Shelley, Idaho, that is in the process of converting to a worker-owned co-op model of business. It is the only explicitly queer-welcoming space in town, let alone Bingham County, and is one of very few when counted alongside the neighboring city of Idaho Falls. We serve coffee made with locally roasted coffee beans, drinks with or without plant-derived energy infusions, iced and slushed lemonades, Sunday brunch, and scratch-made baked goods made by yours truly. We're even working on developing an artisanal syrup line for use in the store and for sale, and hope to work with our wholesale roaster to craft a custom blend of the finest beans.
We've been open for going on two years, and it's been hard, I'm not going to lie! Our founder opened our doors during the pandemic during 2021 and has been working hard to keep things perfect. Unfortunately, we're facing problems common to most, if not all, beverage and dining shops, foremost being: we need more money to keep the doors open. We have equipment in need of repair, a new and increased rental agreement coming up, cost of supplies/inflation affecting our overhead (who isn't affected by this, ugh), and other issues. We could use your help.
The Corner Cup is being proactive about our needs. We're changing up our approach by expanding our hours and hiring a couple of temporary employees, changing up our menu and offering, applying for grants, and fundraising for more substantial things like servicing and repairing some older pieces of equipment, expanding our accessibility within the shop, putting into place an employee fund to guarantee wages for canceled shifts, starting an outreach effort to further entrench ourselves in our local community, and the big goal: installing a new central air cooling system (because Idaho gets flipping HOT in the summer!).
But we need your support to make this happen. We're hoping to reach at least $15,000 in donations in order to address the more immediate issues, with stretch goals of $25,000 and $50,000. Please, check out our GoFundMe and see if you can support us in our work to stay open, even if it is just by sharing this post!
Thank you very much!
