Prince Flame au (+Cherrylime)

In this au, Flame is Vermilion's unplanned child. Avalanche (in this au, she was a countess) took Flame's egg with her to ToP, hoping that her child would be able to stop the war. Flame eventually learns of his origins and becomes very angry at his mother for ruining his life as a prince. However, when Flame gets to the castle, he feels like an outsider and begins to learn everything from the rich skywings.

All the rich skywings (and not only) wear wreaths made of plants, which most represent them. Flame wears a wreath made of castor oil plant. This is an extremely poisonous plant, and Flame wanted to scare others with it. However, despite its poisonousness, castor oil plant has secret healing properties, hinting that Flame is not so callous inside.

Also in this au, Vermilion and Chameleon are lovers, so their children are literally siblings.

I finally finished reading legend dragon slayer, which put an end of the Wof book series, i had a lot of fun reading it im excited for book 16 when it came out next year!

Dargon Slayer was an interesting book that shows the perspective of the human instead of the dragons with an interesting prologue. I wonder if Tui is still going to follow through with that story

I'm going to become the #1 Sky fan out of nothing but pure spite if I see even one more baseless take about how he's "an infantilizing stereotype" or "written like a toddler." Sorry guys, wof fandom says that if you're a generally cheerful person and/or you like little animals you're essentially a toddler 😔

I was ranting to a mutual about this yesterday, and I think that it hit the nail on the head by saying, "As someone who gets really excited about small things seeing that as childish is literally part of the problem."

Adults can and are able to like "childish" things. Adults can and are able to be optimists. Disabled people aren't "acting like toddlers" if they fall into either or both of these categories. People are allowed to enjoy life however they want, and it's not up to you to decide if they're acting like how they "should" be.

I think that even talking this way about a fictional character can have harmful consequences. It's already hard enough for people to feel like they can express themselves, but if we talk about things like this and immediately equate it to toddler behavior then it'll just make things harder.

I saw a cardinal outside when I got home today. I gasped in delight upon seeing it and talked to it for a moment, and that's because I just always enjoy seeing animals whenever I can. I'm also aroace and nonbinary, so if I was a fictional character would I be an infantilizing stereotype of those groups? Apparently a good chunk of the wof fandom thinks so, because it would be wrong to headcanon Sky as such according to them.

And honestly, I can relate to Sky on the basis of having had a sheltered upbringing. A lot of the time I feel like I'm a lot younger than I am and that I'm out of my depth due to it. Maybe it's not Tui's intention, but seeing Sky being allowed to be himself brings me some joy. And I'm sick and tired of people acting like the mere existence of this side character is a sin because he's a touch too silly for them.

I realized something

In the WoF community there was speculation that either Peril or Sky was actually Trans because they are identical twins who hatched from the same egg. I like Trans headcanons but personally I don't think this one holds much water. Queen Scarlet is a huge bitch and I doubt she is a trans ally especially in a matriarchal society, she never would have supported Peril identifying as a girl if she was born biologically male. While it's true when twin reptiles are born from the same egg, they should always the same gender, Wings of Fire adds a fantastical element of "Fire Scales" and the gender of reptiles can also be affected by temperature. Cooler nests tend to hatch Males, while Warmer nests hatch Females. Peril hatched with too much Fire and Sky hatched with no Fire at all, sounds like Hot and Cool development.

Woke: Due to reptilian biology either Peril or Sky are trans because twin reptiles always share the same biological sex.

Quick recount:

Peril: Alive ✅️

Chameleon: Whereabouts unknown but presumably alive ✅️

Sky: Survived the fall as a dragonet and lives on as Peril's brother unbeknownst to himself or anyone else ✅️

Literally all of Peril's biological family is alive except Kestrel.

They almost had the worst family dynamic in history on their talons. They were THAT close.

Heyyy guys, funny story: my tablet broke two weeks ago and I haven't been able to do digital art 🥲

Tried out some water colors on a sketch of Sky to fill the void. I don't really like the way his character is written after Dragonslayer, but I like drawing him! I imagine that his snout and talons have a lot of tiny scars from looking in bushes for snails.

PinkLemonade: Cobra Lily x Sunny. I imagine Cobra Lily following Sundew along to visit Tsunami or something, and meeting Sunny. Instant connection, they hit it off. They start sending letters, and eventually dreamvisiting, after Lily leaves. Maybe in a few years if new animi hatch and build a tunnel between Pyrrhia and Pantala they'll have a system where they spend one month in Pantala and one in Pyrrhia, switching monthly.

Cyclone: Tsunami x Peril. I want to write about them begrudgingly going on a journey together and going from enemies to friends to lovers. Something I think would be delightful to put them through would be ending up stuck in the Ice Kingdom together, the only way to stop Tsunami from freezing being for her and Peril to sleep beside each other in a lake.

Maybe Tsunami stops hating Peril as much over their quest or whatever, and Peril quickly gets more comfortable around her. Once they both admit to themselves that they're okay with the other dragon and all the beef is over with, I feel like they would be really good friends and then admit they like eachother. Imagine the rest of their friends when they leave hating each other and when they come back Peril is sleeping in the river every night so she can sleep next to her girlfriend without burning her.

Snailshell: Sky X Umber. I don't know I just fricking love them so so much. Sky and Wren meet Sora and Umber while they're runnin from the law and Sky helps em out. Maybe it's through Umber they learn about Peril and the twins reunite. Imagine Umber's flustered gay self "i-i-i. uhm. I found you a- a snail...,"

Sky sleeps directly next to Umber, completely ignorant to the fact that he is not feeling platonic feelings and that Umber's heart rate is very dangerous right now

Anyone else think that Peril and Sky are similar in the way that they both can't experience mild emotions, but for Peril it's mainly some form of negative emotions and for Sky is mainly some form of positive emotions. I know it's never stated for Sky but I can believe.
