June Doe 2024: DAY 19- Crossover

I am so, super excited to bring this to y'all! This the first of many crossovers I have planned, and while this is only one chapter for June Doe, it will gain plenty more before this fic is done. I hope you enjoy... but don't forget to stay tuned for more...

Ride A Cyclone (We're Not in Kansas Anymore…): Rated T; Dorothy was surrounded by voices that she had never heard before… Even so, it was far from the strangest thing that happened to her today.

Ok but my knowledge of Oz before I got into wicked was actually the book and I think one graphic novel adaptation (of the book) that I got from the library when I was like 8 or something (I just somehow never saw the original movie until much later)

In the book there’s a good witch of the North and a good witch of the south, and one meets Dorothy in munchkinland, and the OTHER one is the one who tells her how to get home at the end, which makes a lot more sense. I had no idea they just merged them in the movie, and when I first got into wicked I was like “ok so is morrible supposed to be the other ‘good’ witch???”

It’s so funny that the movie made that choice and now collectively that’s what everyone knows for the most part in everyone’s mind, being that basically Glinda just didn’t tell Dorothy how to get home at first because the real home was the yellow brick road we made along the way or something.

Finally finished Godspell after starting it around Easter. I wondered why it was giving me vaguely Sesame Street, The Wiz, and The Warriors vibes, then I realized it’s because they're all filmed in 1970s New York. 😓

(Or at least originally filmed then and there, in the Street's case.)

Anyway, the movie has its problems, but the Pharisees’ design is amazing.

Push brooms for eyes, trash bags for apparel, tubing for a mouth, and rakes for arms. Very urban. They look better in the movie proper.

Sorry for the gif quality. There was like only one video of this scene on YouTube. But honestly, the rakes are way creepier than Freddy’s Krueger’s mitts and his occupation is “dream pervert.”

It reminds me that one of the things I liked about The Wiz was that it’s basically a Wizard of Oz AU instead of just being a straight remake.

Instead of the twister taking Ross!Dorothy to a village then having her travel through countryside and woods to a city then a castle, she’s still in a city setting. But it remains fantastical throughout the whole journey.

Anyway, I just love gushing about monster designs and fantasy settings and I already discussed The Wiz lol.

I was going to do this with 1939 Tin man and Scarecrow/hunk and hickory but then I realized the tin man/hickory/jack Haley actually has a super pretty eye color so now I legally can’t
