Whenever someone says Wish is the worst Disney movie ever, I'm gonna remind them of Chicken Little, Mars Needs Moms, and the fact Pocahontas is a whitewashed, glorified, and romanticised version of real historical events.

Don't get me wrong, you're allowed to not like Wish, but it is not the worst thing Disney has produced.

The standard is Disney's other movies. That's what it's being held to. It's not unfair to ask it to meet that standard; it's still the same studio. It doesn't measure up to its own history, while claiming to be a love letter to that history.

Imagine criticizing people for wanting more than a "cute, sweet little movie" from a studio that was built on and promised more than "cute, sweet little" movies.

with all the negativity Disney's wish has received lately it genuinely feels like people are just looking to hate one something. Disney gets critiqued for not making original stories. So They make a princess fairytale movie. Disney gets critiqued for not having evil Disney villains. They give it an evil Disney villain. Disney gets critiqued for having overcomplicated plots. They make a sweet little movie about wishing on stars. But then it's "too safe" the villains evilness is "forced" and the movie is "self indulgent" for all its references even tho it's literally Disney's 100th anniversary movie.

Do y'all just not know how to enjoy things like a classic Disney fairytale movie without only seeing what you'd rather it be? Wish was a fun, sweet, cute little movie but because it's not the greatest film they've ever made it's a "disappointment"? Idk it feels like Wish is being held to a way higher standard then all of their other films from the last 5 years and after seeing the film I just don't see what's got y'all this upset.

Cuddle pile!!! Once, Peri brought home a stray Furby. It brought the entire house into chaos as the Furby went feral on them. It took sacrificing Cosmo to it for the Furby to calm down.

It spat him out eventually, but the house was a wreck afterwords. Wanda refused to let Timmy or Peri keep it as a pet, thinking (rightly) that they're not ready for one. Cupid took the Furby off their hands afterwords.

sometimes i regret ever telling my parents about my low empathy and intrusive thoughts/impulses because even though i explained that i work hard to behave acceptably in public and just wanted recognition that i do have to put in the work to do things that they might consider automatic and effortless, they still sit me down for a Talk every time we're going to have guests over to stress the importance of "being polite" and "reading the room" and "not acting out for attention" because they're so worried that i'm going to make them look bad out of spite. i guess it's not really something i can complain about because it's a reasonable concern when you have a strained relationship like ours, especially regarding how i present myself to the world and my interests, but it still feels so infuriating to be reminded that they consider me a bit of a disappointment and an embarrassment and would prefer me if i was someone else entirely.

Nevermos obv are free to criticize the rampant racism, misogyny, queerphobia, and general shityness of the church and its actions, but keep in mind that not every exmo is going to be okay with you coming in like “oh I hear they all wear magic underwear and still do polygamy lol that’s so crazy lol” like you all do so often

hey. I know everyone is feeling a lot of things right now and most of them aren’t great, but it’s okay to still acknowledge that at its core, the QSMP was a good idea. it may have been managed poorly and my heart goes out to all the admins that worked so hard for nothing in return, but they worked so long and so hard for a reason: they truly loved and believed in the concept. even if you no longer feel comfortable engaging with the project or content about it going forwards, we owe it to all these people who worked so hard to acknowledge that the stories and characters and builds and puzzles they created were AMAZING. I wish they were able to create these things under better conditions, but I’m not going to go back and say everything about the QSMP sucked.

the whole goal of the QSMP was to bring communities together, and translation software was well developed to do so. we now have an extension that right now is allowing Portuguese speaking and Spanish speaking chatters to watch and enjoy their favorite CCs compete in Liar Liar on the Tubbathon, even though they are speaking English. it’s led to so many English speakers being inspired to learn a new language and to watch non-English speaking streamers, and so many friendships across language barriers have formed. we can and should discuss the problems with the server, but we can also reflect on all the good that has come from it.
