Xie Lian says he can't give his believers luck or power or wealth, but his last and most devoted believer has all those things. I know Xie Lian didn't give him that, but he inspired Hua Cheng to get those things (other than luck. I'm still not sure how Hua Cheng got so lucky). Xie Lian doesn't give anyone anything but he does see their potential and encourages them. Outside of Guzi, who we don't see grow up, and Lang Ying, I'm not touching that, all the kids he has a hand in raising became great. Hong'er became Hua Cheng. Banyue became the state preceptor. Pei Xiu becomes a god. Lang Qianqiu becomes a major god. Even Feng Xin and Mu Qing, who grew up with him, become major gods. The only person who doesn't seem to rise to greatness is Qi Rong, and he's still considered a lesser ghost king. Monster Spotlight: Slime Naga
CR 9
Neutral Evil Large Aberration
Bestiary 6, pg. 199
As if the world beneath the cities of Golarion wasn't wretched enough, what with filth-eating beasts the size of oxen and toilet-licking little goblins (whew look at those old articles! so succinct! so small! so lacking. i should retouch them), to say nothing of more mundane hazards like the ever-present Filth Fever or swarms of carnivorous vermin, sometimes things even worse come a-slithering in to make the winding sewers and filthy cesspits their homes. Slime Naga are a subspecies of Naga, human-headed snake people with powerful sorcery inherent in their very blood, but unlike most Naga, who drape themselves in finery and tend to view themselves as tenders or stewards of the magical arts, Slime Naga are vile and violent predators who gleefully feed on the easily-missed and concoct depraved schemes from their lairs deep within cesspits and sewer lines.
The book goes into unfortunate detail about how Slime Naga greatly enjoy sunning themselves in shafts of light shining into their putrid wading pools, and how their slimy, waste-colored bodies are almost impossible to spot as they slither through wastewater, but it's only in Adventure Path: Hell's Rebels: A Song of Silver where you'll find any actual lore about their goals and motivations. All naga desire knowledge, and Slime Naga in particular enjoy any knowledge that gives them leverage over another being; they'll spend hours picking through garbage and listening to the crowded streets above to find nuggets of information that could be turned into blackmail, but as soon as they've established themselves in their under-kingdoms, their need for knowledge spurs them to become kingpins of the underground, creating spy networks or even entire guilds of criminals... intersped with unfortunate lackeys pressed into service, if only to avoid being eaten by the inhuman monster.
Slime Naga are not enslaved by their hunger for human flesh, willing to use potential meals as lackeys and tools until they're only good for lunch. These poor victims are kept in line with either threats of force or the use of Charm Person, which the slime snake has access to thanks to its magical prowess: that of a 7th level Sorcerer. This gives them seven spell slots each of levels 1 and 2, and five 3rd-level slots, and they've got some goodies in there! Charm Person to stock their lairs with "willing" guests, as mentioned, Grease and Hydraulic Push to get people into the sewer soup they make their lairs in (I can't imagine the Naga's Hydro-Push as anything but a stream of mucus, sorry), Mage Armor to raise their AC from 24 to 28 alongside Invisibility for additional defense on top of that, Magic Missile for reliable, unavoidable damage... and in their 3rd level slots, Stinking Cloud for crowd control and Lightning Bolt for crowd dispersal. All of this is made worse by the fact the naga can hork up globs of sticky Spit as a 30ft ranged touch attack, gumming the target they hit and sticking them in place, leaving them vulnerable to being swarmed by the naga's minions or battered by its spells.
Fighting a Slime Naga is unpleasant, to say the least, and even getting to one is a slog as it forces its minions to build traps and obstacles to shield its lair... and calls yet more from the scum of the world into its service. Slime Naga aren't just named for their coat of mucus, but because each one of them is an Ooze Master, capable of seizing control of any Ooze within 100ft and puppeting them like a limb. Unintelligent Oozes--which comprises a good 80% of the creature type--are controlled without offering a save, but intelligent slimes can prevent the control by succeeding a DC 19 Will save, something most of the specimens between CR 1 and 10 can't succeed without some serious luck on their side. The naga has a strict HD limit to how many Oozes it can control at once, but this "strict" limit is 22, allowing it to control a veritable army of lesser goops like Giant Amoebas and enact all forms of strange plans involving shapeshifting infiltrators, mass murder and manipulation, kidnapping plots, or industrial runoff. Their love of ooze is a boon when they find themselves contending with other naga for territory, as the Ooze's mindlessness renders them impossible to deceive or control with the magic that other naga typically employ to cow others into submission, ironically making these bottom-rung naga incredibly threatening to other "behind the scenes" manipulator types that rely on mind-bending magic.
With a 22 HD limit, a Slime Naga can place Oozes posing a very significant threat to the party between itself and them, and can even control Oozes far more powerful than itself and still have enough HD left over to command smaller blobs! Note that the Black Pudding and Proto-Shoggoth, among others, can replicate uncontrollably; this would normally be dangerous for the Slime Naga, as it has a limited pool it can control over, but even intelligent Oozes cannot bring themselves to directly attack a Slime Naga. Ooze Master is unambiguous in its language: Oozes, no matter what, will never attack a Slime Naga, even if it is directly their enemy, which may yet lead to interesting conundrums where the party is sought out by an unlikely ally to remove a naga from the sewers...
Or an even more unique conundrum in which the use of a Slime Naga is the only way for a lower-level party to overcome an Ooze of a power level that's impossible for them to contend with on their own (note that all of these Oozes fall within the 22 HD limit, and none of them pass the DC 19 save automatically). Useful, since Oozes cannot resist any command given to them by the naga, even self-destructive ones... Just make sure the naga IS on your side, or you've essentially handed them a doomsday weapon!
You can read more about them here.

Analysis time! :D
What better way to make another thesis for certain parts of the last episode?
This post, I'll be talking about how strong the Power Spheres could take over its owner's mind.
As I ever mentioned it before. Even though comic book already covered the story of season 2. Again, we still need to look at the TV ver. Because whatever happens, TV shows is still the roots of Boboiboy's franchise. Whether you like it or not.
We good? Now shall we begin?
Re edit for grammar correction
See, of all every Power Spheres that had been introduced, only Kokotaim gang were not yet been "confirmed" what was their Power Spheres look like. Sure, the only elemental bot that had been shown were Hang Kasa's Crystal Bot and Retak'ka's Light Bot, but that's it.
Monsta already established two rules about the Power Sphere:
Every Power Spheres have their mind and soul. They could talk, think and feel like a living being.
Whatever happens, their contact with their first owner emended to their traits and it impacted to their next owner as well.
My first suspicion obviously came from what Gopal had said before in one of anon ask box about the first debut of Taufan and Hali in OG series.
"In the past, Boboiboy Lightning turn into Thunderstorm because he felt extremely angry. Boboiboy Wind turn into Cyclone also because of felling an absolute joy."
Another interesting aspect is from Mechamato movie. Specifically when Amato in Mecha suit mode was being locked to a flashback scene triggered by Mecha Bot uncontrollable sense of fear.
(excuse me for putting the Indonesian sub ver. :/
*translation note in order:
"Mechabot, Shoot!"
"Mechabot! What's wrong?"
"C'mon Mechabot!
From this point, I think you can guess what I would want to go from here.

As the tweet mentioned. It is interesting to note the similarities between the two. Whenever the Power Spheres' soul take over the owner's body more deeper, their eyes will glow and the scars spreads to their skin.
And by that logic, the Power Spheres consume much more energy than before. Thus the heavy drained out both mentally and physically from their owners.
Amato knew this and to fix the same issue, he convinced Mecha Bot during their final battle against General Grakakus in the same movie.
"Mechabot, close your eyes! I will be the one to handle our moves! Trust me!"
It goes back to one of my ted talks about this topic and a highlight some particular line from Kuputeri.

One of my favorite Boboiboy account also solidified his statement again about Oboi's being controlled by Power Sphere or in this case, elemental forms.

In my opinion what Oboi went through was somehow worse than any other Power Sphere wielder out there.
Not only he wields seven strongest powers in the galaxy but also might be the most unconstrained one to control them. Then again he still not reach his age of consent, but he already hold big responsibility to become the hero and most wanted target in the galaxy.
Think about it, even their original owners were a bit struggled to learn their power. Hang Kasa travel planets to planet only for learning his power with other elemental masters, Kuputeri needs to harness for at least hundreds years until she could tame Beliung/Tempest's, A small crack Ki'rana's body armor could made her went berserk due to the immense power of the Lightning bot.
In common sense, every wielder still has their Power Spheres as their own companion while Oboi hasn't. What Boboiboy only has to contain that grandiose powers? a watch. A watch that went three times modification simply because of the powers that was too strong to keep and use all at once. Not to mention how frequent Oboi uses split and now with fusion techniques is also add to the list.
He barely managed to ease his mind when transform to Beliung, Ice and Blaze worsen Baraju's conflicts with their near 3rd tier transformation, and he was lucky to be saved by 30 minutes Oakuat Juice so he could keep Rimba under his watch.
Now that we come so far, the questions still remains missing:
With how bad the elementals took over Oboi, will it possible they are gonna be the next villain for him in the future?
Does Amato knows about Boboiboy's Elementals powers? Does he also know Ochobot past before sending it to him?
Did the rest of elementals Power Spheres already destroyed after the first Retak'ka's raid or not?
I guess maybe Mechamato series might be the answer of Ochobot and all elementals Power Spheres in the past. Again we still have no clue what happened to him during the season 2 events.
And also this line up post before Monsta split the title for Dwifusion to "Gentar" and "Baraju"—

—announced the third season of Galaxy series after BM3 Gur'latan(quite close too after the movie you know?) . My only hope is that it cover the elenmentals and also other origins of Yaya, Ying, Gopal, and Fang Power Sphere.
Where were they came from? Were their Power Spheres also get destroyed like all elementals did? Are their owners still alive or not?
🤔
.
.
.
.
OOT but I just love Monsta's new thumbnail art for full ep marathon of Windara. 😎👍

When the dragons fly(book 2)
Three years have now passed. Your dear little brother had nearly learned everything, and you still wonder about your elven friend's true identity. But then, you see a troubling dream that reminds you of a certain fortune teller's prediction.
[] = High Valyrian
Chapter 13
Warnings: mentions of wars, coming battles, infections, injured throats, muteness, getting hit, Aelon getting struck hard, suspicions, nightmares, fire, burning, getting killed, and troubling predictions.
----------------------------------------------
Three years have passed.
Galloping through the forest, Maedhros returned to the village with Aelon riding right behind him. The young teen rode upon a black and white horse borrowed from the village's stablemaster for his riding lessons, having grown tall enough to handle the reins and the stirrups on his own.
"That was good, but you still leave yourself behind," Maedhros said as they came to a trot.
"Learn to speed it up a bit. That way, you don't end up being left behind or get caught by your pursuers," he added.
Aelon shook his head. "Maybe you're just going too fast for me. How do you expect me to catch up with you when you ride faster than the wind?" he asked, making Maedhros chuckle.
"Well, you need to learn how to ride as fast as the wind. You won't get anywhere if I continue going easy on you," Maedhros replied as they arrived at your house.
In a small training field that you had set up for Eweniel and Ramuel, who also wanted to learn how to shoot with a bow, you stood behind them as they aimed at the targets.
"And shoot,"
The two released their arrows. Ramuel's arrow hit a few rings beneath the dot, but Eweniel struck bullseye with hers.
"Nice!" Eweniel grinned as it was her third time in a row hitting the center of the target. "Well done, Ewe. You're exceptionally talented at this," you praised, then glanced down at Ramuel. "Ramuel, aim a bit higher. The arrow will fly farther and won't fall to the ground at the last minute," you instructed.
"Okay..." Ramuel said quietly. "Don't overthink it. It's only been a week since you started learning. You have time to master this," you reassured him, then noticed Maedhros and Aelon returning from their ride.
"This will be all for today," you said.
"When will I get to learn how to wield a sword?" Eweniel asked as she and Ramuel went to pick up their arrows. "Once your parents get comfortable with the idea. Be happy that they allowed you to learn archery," you answered.
"But I'm already so good shooting with the bow. You said it yourself," Eweniel said. "I did, but I can't go against your parent's wishes," you replied, making her groan. "Be patient. I'm certain they will eventually let you train with the sword soon enough," you tried to assure her. "But even Aelon has a real sword now. It will take ages before my parents will finally let me hold a sword," Eweniel pointed at the sword attached to Aelon's hip, a gift from Maedhros after learning all he could from him.
"Oh, don't be like that. You still have time," Aelon said while petting his horse.
You chuckled as Maedhros walked up to you, and Aelon left to return his horse to the stablemaster. Eweniel and Ramuel also left after cleaning up.
"They have become more energetic. I wonder how long it will take before Eweniel decides to train herself to catch up with Aelon," you mused.
"Well, they can become more rebellious at this age, so it's not impossible," Maedhros remarked, then observed your village as people were busier than usual.
"There seems to be more unrest than usual," Maedhros stated.
"Yes... it's about an upcoming battle. Some houses from other villages and people have been called to join a cause to fight Morgoth, or so I heard," you explained. "It was apparently some elven lord from the Noldor who made such a call," you added.
"And what do you think about it?" Maedhros asked. "It's a bit sudden, to be honest," you answered. "Morgoth and the Noldor had been quiet since the war of the sudden flames. To suddenly call to arms to fight after hearing someone steal a silmaril from Morgoth is a bit unexpected," you explained.
"I certainly hope the lord behind this knows what he is doing and has enough knowledge to pull this off," you stated.
"You do not think he might not be able to pull this off?" Maedhros asked.
"If he manages to rally all the people of Beleriand to fight for his cause, then maybe he has a good chance. I don't know much about Morgoth and his stronghold in the north, but I do know that his power is great, and he might be hiding a few tricks up his sleeve," you said, looking at him. "Who knows what he has been doing inside his fortress for all these years," you added. "So rallying an attack like this, caution should be the best course of action."
"My father always told me that the worst enemy is the one you know less about," you stated.
"You're... not wrong, but I think Morgoth will fail this time," Maedhros said, quietly contemplating your words.
You observed him from the corner of your eye. He was quiet and seemingly lost in thought.
"Anyway... Nelyo," you said, gaining his attention. "There is going to be a celebration feast soon. We had a good harvest year, and because of the upcoming battle, we decided to hold it early. If you have time, would you be willing to join us?" you asked with a hopeful tone.
"I... I'll see what I can do," Maedhros answered. "Sorry, but I must get going now," he said, then left.
You watched as he climbed back on his horse and rode out of the village. Your mind was bothered by his strange behavior. He had started visiting less and seemed more restless than ever. You were also still wondering about his real identity. He has opened up a bit to you for the past years, but there was still so much mystery around him.
"Hey, is something wrong? Did Nelyo already leave?" Aelon asked after returning from his walk to the stablemaster.
"Nothing. Let's take a hike in the mountains. We need to check on the food storage and the younglings," you said and then walked into your house, trying to brush off the suspicions you had about your elven friend.
At the mountains, Baleria was outside, feasting upon a deer she had caught for herself. Aegar and Viserya were eyeing her prey, even daring to sneak closer to try to have a bite, but the older dragon growled them away, slightly annoyed by their presence and constant attempt to steal her prey.
You were standing in front of Smoke with Samuel, trying to teach the young dragon to breathe fire upon the dead rabbit on the ground.
"[Dracarys]," You said as Smoke only croaked at you, confused by the word and why you would not allow him to eat the rabbit.
"[Dracarys]," you said again.
Smoke only crouched down, attempting to lean his head forward enough to snatch the rabbit. "Smoke..." you looked at him with a warning tone. His ears flattened against his head, and he stared at you with pleading eyes. "Don't even try it," you said sternly, causing him to hiss and pull back.
"You get to eat the rabbit. If you do the thing," you gently explained.
"[Dracarys]," you said with a commanding tone.
Smoke stared intently at the rabbit. Black smoke started to billow out of his nostrils, and his chest began to steam as he took in deep breaths, preparing to release his breath.
You and Samuel watched as Smoke released a puff of smoke, then released a blast of scorching hot air onto the rabbit, burning off the fur and steaming the meat until it was piping hot.
Samuel clapped his hands with an excited smile as you finally allowed Smoke to eat the steaming rabbit.
"He will finally be able to feed for himself from now on," you stated as Smoke swallowed the rabbit in one bite.
“How long will it take for them to breathe real fire?” Samuel asked while petting Smoke.
“Dragons should be able to breathe fire when they’re three months old, but since it took this long for those three to even learn how to produce hot air. There is a possibility that it will take many more years for them to learn, or they may never learn at all. I wonder if this is why they were abandoned in that nest,” you said thoughtfully.
Smoke then tried to chirp, but it came out as a mix of groans and croaks, which was not a natural sound from a dragon.
“Oh, Smoke,” Samuel said as the dragon looked embarrassed by the sound he produced.
“(Name). Is there truly no medicine that could help Smoke to get his voice back?” Samuel questioned while comforting the dragon. “He sounds worse each day. At this rate, he is going to sound like a lizard toad,” he added.
“I’m afraid so. That infection Smoke suffered last year left a nasty injury to his vocal cords,” you replied with a pitying look since it meant the young dragon would be unable to vocalize for the rest of his life. “I don’t think he would even be able to find himself a mate with that voice,” you added.
“Well, he doesn’t have to worry about finding a mate. He could stay with me so he wouldn’t be lonely,” Samuel smiled. You smiled in return, touched by the idea.
The sounds of beating wings reached your ears, and then you saw Aelon flying with Falconer, riding upon the saddle you finished making last year. Falconer landed on the side of the cliff, roaring like a falcon as the metal straps on his chest jiggled. You carefully observed the straps of the saddle. Since Falconer had grown larger than a house over the years, there were some adjustments you needed to finish on the saddle, but so far, everything seemed to be working just fine.
"How is the saddle for you?" you called out to Aelon as he was still on Falconer's back. "It's great! It works pretty well! But some of the straps are making funny noises, and the saddle might be a bit loose," Aelon explained, moving around on his new saddle.
"You get used to it in time. Maybe we only need to tighten up the girth," you said. "Well, whatever it is. I think I'm gonna go on another fly around the mountains if that's okay with you?" Aelon asked.
"Go for it! Just stay out of sight!" you replied.
Aelon grinned. "I will... [Fly Falconer]!" Falconer pushed down his wings, shrieking as he flew into the sky, away from the cave.
You smiled briefly before your attention was drawn by distant thundering. Turning northward, you saw a black storm lingering above the Thangorodrim and the Iron Mountains. It was a concerning sight, accompanied by the distant sound of lightning. The increased wind only added to your unease, leaving you contemplating the implications of the upcoming battle.
A black storm was usually a bad omen. While a thunderstorm might have presented an opportunity for attack under normal circumstances, but there was something ominous about this storm. You do not know why, but it felt like this storm had a will of its own or was following the will of another.
Giggling then reached your ears, and you saw Samuel playing with Smoke. The sight warmed your heart as the two have bonded over the years. You had allowed Samuel to be a caretaker for the hatchlings, and the hatchlings had grown well under his care. They had grown larger than hunting dogs, which made it impossible to keep them in the house anymore, so they now lived in the mountains with Baleria and Falconer.
"Hey, (Name). Could Smoke grow big as Baleria one day?" Samuel asked as the young dragon basked in the attention he was receiving.
“Well, that one is possible,” you then grinned. “Why? Are you hoping you could ride Smoke one day?" you asked.
"Maybe..." Samuel looked away, embarrassed.
"Well, we just have to wait and see once Smoke has grown bigger," you smiled.
"Now, come on. We need to tidy things up. It looks like it might rain soon," you stated. Samuel picked himself up and assisted you in cleaning up the stable. Together, you waited for Aelon to return from his flight, and then all three of you returned to the village.
After returning to the village, you and Aelon decided to have a quick training session with long sticks as you had started teaching him handling spears and long point end weapons. He had long learned how to handle a sword and two blades, the latter having been more challenging for him to learn. However, handling a spear seemed to come naturally to him.
"Alright, let's recall what we learned from our previous session," you said as Aelon was spinning the stick in his hand.
"(Name), you seem a bit restless. Is everything alright?" Aelon questioned.
"Everything is fine. Let's just focus on the session," you replied.
"It just seems like you're forcing yourself to be busy and all," Aelon prepared himself, holding the stick in a defensive position.
"Just some minor things. Now focus, and show me what you have learned," you ordered, and then Aelon attacked, trying to poke you with the top of the stick. You stepped back, blocking his attempts. He then tried to strike you from the side and even went for your face. You quickly moved your head to the side, avoiding the stick and then grabbing it. With a swift motion, you struck your training sword against his stomach, causing him to groan and step back.
"That was good, but you need to be quicker than that," you stated as Aelon charged again.
As you blocked Aelon's attempts to hit you, your mind was troubled by the impending battle and Maedhros's peculiar behavior. He started acting oddly ever since the day when Helena shared the news about the elven princess and the stolen silmaril. And he even acted odd today when you two talked about the incoming battle and the possibilities of pulling it off. It's like he is somewhat involved with it.
Even though he had opened up to you more about himself, being the eldest of his brothers and doing important work for his people, which he did not really clarify, like what kind of work. You still knew very little. You knew he was part of the Noldor, but there were still some things he had not shared. You had tried not to inquire too much about his life out of respect, but now, you wanted answers to your nagging suspicions.
Deep in your thoughts, you failed to block one of Aelon's attacks.
Aelon managed to hit you hard on the rib, making you snap back to reality and strike back in a reflex.
You struck Aelon's weapon away before striking him in the legs, making him yelp and fall on his back with a harsh thud.
Your mind finally realized what you did when you heard Aelon groan and saw him lying on the ground.
"Ah... Aelon! I'm sorry! Did I hurt you?!" you dropped your training sword and crouched down to him in worry.
"Ow! I didn't know you could hit him that hard," Aelon sat up before looking at you. "You drifted off. I actually managed to hit you," he stated with a confused tone.
"Yes... I did. My mind was elsewhere," you looked away in embarrassment.
"Okay, (Name)! Sit down!" Aelon gently pulled you down, making you sit against the ground before looking at you deep in the eye.
"What is going on with you? You should always keep a sharp focus during a fight," he questioned, then waited for your answer.
You exhaled, relaxing your shoulders, deciding to tell what had been weighing on your mind.
"You're right..." You started. "It's about Nelyo. I... think he's not telling us everything," you added.
Aelon stared at you curiously. "What do you mean? He's been our friend for three years now?" he questioned.
"I know, I know, but— like he doesn't know about our dragons. We don't know much about him," you explained. "We know he lives among the Noldor, but we do not know exactly where. We know he has brothers, but we do not know their names or the names of his parents, and we know that he does important work, which makes him quite busy, but he hasn't told us what kind of work it is," you listed while Aelon listened, nodding his head as he began to think about it himself.
"Do you see where I'm going with this?" you asked.
"Yeah. Now that you told me," Aelon nodded with a questioning look, thinking the same as you.
"And upon our second meeting. I noticed how Nelyo seemed hesitant to tell us his name, so there might be a chance Nelyo might not be his real name," you stated. "Or it could be since the elves could have more than one name, but it's a name we wouldn't recognize him as," you quickly explained.
"Okay... but why would he hide things from us?" Aelon asked.
"Perhaps for the same reason as how we keep our dragons a secret," you answered thoughtfully.
"For all we know, he could be an elven lord or even a prince," you said.
"What makes you think he could be a prince?" Aelon asked.
"Quite a lot of things, actually. Usually, those from a noble ground go on hunts in a large hunting party. And the way he talks and holds himself, and let’s not forget that he also gave you a generous gift, which would have been expensive for us, which means he’s quite wealthy," you listened and mentioned Aelon's sword, which he had named Dragon Tooth.
"That makes sense..." Aelon nodded to himself before turning his gaze on you. "We need to ask Nelyo if he is a prince or something!" he stated.
"Well, we just have to wait for his next visit. Now, let's get back to the session. We're losing precious sunlight," you stood up. Aelon whined before standing up to continue the sparring lesson with you.
Smoke surrounded you, blurring your vision, and heavy coughs escaped as you unintentionally inhaled it. Quickly crouching down, you covered your face and mouth with your arm, trying to see through the haze.
Confusion overwhelmed you as you surveyed the smoke-filled house. Why was it smoking all of a sudden? Was there a fire?
Your ears then heard something heavy breaking above you. Looking up, you were startled to see a burning wooden beam falling toward you. Reacting quickly, you dropped back as the beam crashed before you, scattering embers everywhere. Instinctively, you covered yourself to avoid getting hit in the eyes, then realized with horror that it was your house that was burning around you.
"Aelon!" you called out but couldn't hear anything except the burning wood around you.
"Over here!" you heard Aelon call out from the outside.
Dashing quickly toward the doorway, you made it outside just in time before your house collapsed, burning in flames.
You coughed out the smoke from your lungs, then paled when you witnessed the chaos around you.
The whole village was on fire. All the people were screaming as they were getting chased and killed by the orcs.
"Mom! Dad!" you heard Eweniel cry out, and saw her house collapse in flames. The young girl stood outside, sobbing as she watched her home burn. Her parents were nowhere in sight, leading you to fear they were trapped inside the burning house.
You then heard a woman's scream and saw the twins' mother holding Samuel in her arms, crying as there was a black arrow sticking out of his chest. Her husband and Ramuel were tugging her to run away with them.
"(Name)! Don't just stand there! Run!" Helena yelled before she was then attacked and mauled by a warg.
You were horrified by the sight and found yourself unable to move.
A loud, ear-piercing roar ripped through the sky. You winced in pain before seeing the peaks of Thangorodrim and a large shadow standing over them.
It was massive, and when it spread its wings, you beheld an enormous black dragon towering over the mountains. Its eyes gleamed red as blood, and its chest glowed with the intensity that it looked like it was leaking lava.
The dragon laid its red eyes upon you, and before you even knew it, the beast unleashed a torrent of fire upon you and the world around you.
You yelled in fright as you woke up on your bed. You felt your heart pound against your chest, and you subconsciously started checking yourself for burns.
You then heard something running behind your walls before someone opened the door to your room.
"(Name)! I heard you scream. Is everything alright?" Aelon asked worriedly, standing at the door. You breathed in and calmed yourself. "I'm alright," you sighed, then looked at him with a questioning frown. "But why are you up so late?" you asked.
"I had a bad dream. I couldn't sleep after that, so I went to get some water," Aelon explained.
“It was awful. Everything was on fire," Aelon said.
You looked at him as he started describing his dream.
"Our house and the whole village were on fire. Eweniel was standing alone in front of her house as it burned down. Someone had shot Samuel, and then I saw the mountains," he described, making your eyes widen.
"The three big ones, the I saw an enormous.." Aelon continued.
"Dragon," you finished for him. Aelon looked at you as you rubbed your brows. "I saw it too..." you uttered.
"What could it possibly mean?" Aelon asked.
"Hopefully, nothing," you answered.
"But I've seen a prophetic dream before. The one before Amdirvelui kidnapped me, remember?" Aelon sat at the edge of your bed.
"What if this is a prophetic dream too since we both saw it?" he asked, making you think of the possibility.
"If it is, then we might face something terrible in the future," you said. "But let's not think about it. We can never be sure," you added with an apprehensive tone.
"I once saw Falconer appear in my dream, trying to rescue me. And he did come when I was being kidnapped," Aelon said. "This dream felt too real just to be a dream," he stated.
You remained quiet. The dream felt too real for you as well. Your mind was still bothered by the sight of the smoke, fire, and death. They reminded you too much of your time as a commander and the things you did.
You released a deep sigh.
"Try to go back to sleep. Let's think about it tomorrow," you laid back on your bed.
"Okay..." Aelon uttered, stepping away from your bed. "Goodnight," he said as he walked out of your room. "Goodnight," you mumbled as he closed the door, and you heard him return to his room.
Your mind returned to the dream, replaying the horrid scenario again and again.
You didn't want to think about it, but you had an awful feeling that the dream might be linked to the upcoming battle against Morgoth, especially if it was the aftermath and Morgoth freed his terror all over the world. The scenario would fit all too well.
Then, The woman's prediction came to mind—the one where all the birds flee forever south, and the blue banner of the king is set ablaze.
Shaking your head, you closed your eyes, pushing the troubling thoughts away and attempting to find sleep before sunrise.

One Hell of a Love (Book 2) Chapter Ten
Sebastian Michaelis x Demon! Reader
Chapter Ten: One Hell of an Alibi
Summary: Murder in the Phantomhive Manor isn't new, and (Y/N) remains unshaken.
“He’s dead,” said Arthur, eyes widening.
“What?” gasped Woodley.
“No!” Irene’s voice quivered.
“What was with that voice just now…” Baldroy ran into the room with Finny before stopping at the sight.
“I-Is this man dead?” said Finny worriedly.
“Yes…” said Arthur. “The hemorrhage from the chest wound was most likely fatal. I can’t be certain because of how dark it is, but—”
“Hey, ain’t this room kinda hot?” remarked Baldroy.
(Y/N)’s eyes slid to the fireplace, and they nearly smirked. Yes. It is.
“Yes, it is,” said Sebastian. “I heated up the room in advance, but perhaps he had a chill.”
“I say, what on Earth is the meaning of all this racket?” said Ciel, recovering from his sleepiness as he entered with Tanaka.
“Young Master,” said Sebastian.
Ciel’s eyes fell on the body in shock. “Lord Siemens!” He exchanged a calculated look with Sebastian and (Y/N).
“I-In that case, let’s just leave things untouched as they are,” said Grimsby. “Until the Yard gets here, that is—”
“No. We should move the corpse right away,” said Baldroy somberly.
“Eh?” said Grimsby.
“I don’t wanna put it like this, but flesh decomposes faster than you might think,” said Baldroy. “Even if we douse the fire now, the corpse’ll go right off if it’s kept by the hearth.”
“Flesh…decomposes…” Irene shivered.
Grimsby steadied her. “Irene…”
“He’s right,” agreed Arthur. “I also believe that we should place the corpse in a cool, dark place until the experts can examine it.”
“The cellar would work,” said (Y/N).
Sebastian nodded in agreement. “Finny, bring us a cot.”
“But the Yard won’t be here anytime soon, now, will it?” remarked Lau. He pulled back the curtain to reveal the raging winds and rains outside. “I mean, have you seen this storm?”
“But that means we can’t leave this place, either, doesn’t it?!” said Woodley.
“You only realized that now?” Lau shrugged nonchalantly. “Anyway, it’s fine. We all planned to stay the night anyway.”
“It’s far from fine!” shouted Woodley. “A murder was just committed here—.”
“Indeed,” said Grey. “Right now, this manor is truly an isolate island in the middle of nowhere. Therefore, it’s highly likely that the murdered is still inside the manor or within the grounds.” He paused and looked around at the ground. “Or perhaps I should say…thinking it through logically, the murderer is one of us?”
Panic flashed cross the guests’ faces.
“Why must it be one of us?! What kind of sick joke is that?!” cried Grimsby.
“Yes, that’s right!” said Woodley.
And yet the truth remains is that if a murder is committed, one of the people inside is likely the perpetrator. Though I suppose some rather determined people may brave the outdoors to arrive here, thought (Y/N).
“First off, the majority of us have just met one another, and—” Arthur’s words were cut off by Irene exclaiming worriedly.
“Miss Diaz?” said (Y/N).
“When we arrived at the door to this room, it was locked, wasn’t it?” said Irene.
“Now that you mention it, you’re right. It was,” said Mey-Rin.
“Then someone could have entered the room from a window and, after locking the door to stall for time, escaped the same way they came, couldn’t they?” remarked Irene.
“But wouldn’t you expect there to be footprints if someone came in from out of this downpour?” said Grey, looking at the balcony doors. “And let’s not forget, this room is on the second floor. The window’s locked, too.”
“Then somebody locked the door from the corridor and then ran off after all…” said Grimsby.
“That is impossible,” said Sebastian. He held up a key as an example. “The keys in this manor all belong to warded locks from when the manor was first built. The keys themselves are of very complicated make, so without a master locksmith on hand, duplicated them is impossible. Moreover, the keys are stored in a locked storage cabinet, over which I, the butler, stand guard, so no one can take the keys out as they please. In addition to the warded lock, the doors are also fitted with a latch on the inside for convenience’s sake, so they may be locked from within. In a situation where the keys cannot be removed from the cabinet. It is only possible to lock the doors from inside.”
“In other words,” said Lau. “We’re looking at a locked-room murder, hmm?”
(Y/N) glanced at the expressions of the humans and struggled to keep their composure. This banquet was proving entertaining for them.
“That’s not possible…This isn’t some novel!” said Woodley.
“Indeed.” Ciel yawned. “You’d never hear the end of it from the public if an unsophisticated locked-room drama like this was ever publish. Aren’t you of the same opinion, Professor?”
Arthur blinked. “Ah! Yes, now I see…It is possible if you use that…”
“What do you mean?” said Lau.
“Needle and thread,” said Ciel.
“A needle…?” began Grimsby.
“And thread?” finished Woodley.
“As Sebastian mentioned, this door can only be locked from the inside. However, you can easily lock it from the outside with needle and thread,” said Ciel. “It goes like this. First you jam the threaded needle by the raised latch to fix it. Then you lean the room, having pulled the thread under the door. Last, if you tug on the thread carefully so it doesn’t break and dislodge the needle…the latch will fall, thereby locking the door. If you retrieve the needle and thread from beneath the door just so, you leave behind no proof. And disposing of a needle and thread is easy enough. It’s a simple and boring trick that’s been used over and over in mystery novels. But the murderer isn’t looking to write a novel. This trick serves more as a practical diversion, wouldn’t you say?”
“I do see now how you can create a locked room that way, but…” Lau trailed off.
Arthur finished the horrible sentiment. “…Doesn’t that mean it’s possible anybody could have murdered him?”
“We did no such thing! It must have been somebody else!” said Grimsby, holding Irene tightly.
“It wasn’t me, either!” cried Woodley. “You’re the most suspicious one among us! Besides, I saw your face when Siemens was flirting with Miss Diaz! You were angry with him!”
“Don’t falsely accuse me, old man!” shouted Grimsby. “Who’d murder a man over such a trivial thing!”
“Come, come you two,” said Lau. “We just need to calm down and verify everyone’s alibis.”
That is one of the smartest things he’s ever said, thought (Y/N).
“Lord Siemens was murdered after he retired to his room, or, to put it more accurately, he was killed after he rang the bell for the servants and before Master Butler and company arrived at his door,” said Lau. “Thus you only need have an alibi for that time frame.”
“Irene and I were in the billiard room,” said Grimsby.
“Yes,” said Grey. “I was there, too.”
“I as well, and Mr. Phelps, too,” said Arthur, checking on the still-unconscious Phelps. “After Lord Siemens went to bed and until the commotion occurred, we were all in the billiard room. None of us left the room in that time.”
Ciel looked at Lau and Ran-Mao. “What were you two doing?”
“Hm? We were drinking in the lounge with Mr. Woodley. Right, Ran-Mao?” said Lau, and she nodded.
“Yes! We were together until the racket began,” said Woodley.
“I and the rest of the servants were cleaning up in the kitchen,” said (Y/N).
“Yes, we were!” said Mey-Rin.
“To begin with, we didn’t even know which room Siemens was staying in!” pointed out Grimsby. “It would take ages to find him in this huge manor, am I right?”
“Which leaves…” Grey’s eyes went to the one person in the room without an alibi. Ciel.
“Forgive my insolence, Lord Earl, but what were you doing at that time?” said Lau.
Ciel’s eyes narrowed. “I am indeed the only one without an alibi, but I had no reason to murder his lordship.”
“Reeally?” challenged Grey with a smirk.
“What is it?” retorted Grey.
“You can’t say you had no reason with absolute certainty,” said Lau. “The reason for which one person murders another is typically inconceivable to other folk. People will never be able to understand another’s mind, regardless of how much research genius scholars collect on the subject. Besides, your company has a branch in Germany, right? You might have had disputes over some documents with him, a board member of a large bank…though we’d know nothing of such matters.”
“Are you implying that my Funtom is defaulting?” Ciel scoffed. “What utter drivel.”
“It is possible. In this day and age, any large company can disappear overnight,” said Lau with his usual casual tone.
“Please wait!” interrupted Finny boldly. “I don’t quite get the complicated stuff, but! The Young Master would never do such a—!”
“Finny,” said Ciel. “It’s fine. Step back.” Finny deflated.
“What I want is a guarantee,” said Grey.
“A guarantee?” said Ciel.
“A guarantee that we’ll be able to make it out of here alive,” said Grey.
“What…do you mean by that?” said Irene nervously.
“This here manor is under the control of the killer, right? And until the storm passes, we’re stuck,” said Grey. “What happens if all our lips are forcibly sealed before the storm ends?”
The dark sentiment caused the guests to shiver.
Except for Lau, who just smiled brightly. “Then what about we confine him? You know, lock him up!”
“Lock him up?!” cried Baldroy.
“Our Young Master?!” said Mey-Rin.
(Y/N) and Sebastian looked to Ciel. It was his call.
Ciel sighed in annoyance. “If that will satisfy you, then do it.”
“His Lordship’s room won’t work. An aristocrat’s quarters usually have some secret means of escape. My place has them, too,” said Grey.
“Then how about we keep watch over the Young Master while seeing to you—” began Sebastian.
“That won’t do either,” said Lau. “Any servants of the Lord Earl might allow him to get away.”
“So I believe the best alternative is to have one of the guests stay with his Lordship and keep an eye on him,” said Grey.
“You can count me out!” declared Grimsby. “There’s no way I can leave Irene along!”
“I don’t want to myself!” said Woodley.
“Me too. I have poor Ran-Mao to think of,” said Lau.
I suspect it’s more laziness on his part, thought (Y/N).
Grey looked at Ciel dubiously. “I don’t want to do it either, but someone’s got to.”
Lau clapped Arthur on the shoulder. “It’s in your hands, Professor!”
“Ehhh?!” cried Arthur.
“No one else wants to!” chirped Lau. “Make sure you keep a close watch on his Lordship so he doesn’t run off now!”
“N-No, wait a minute!” said Arthur, but no one was listening to him.
“Oh, yes,” said Grey, remembering something. “I have something useful loaded on my carriage.” He looked at Finny and Baldroy. “You there. Will you go get it for me?”
“Then we’ll break up for the night,” said Ciel. “Sebastian, (Y/N). Show everyone to their rooms.”
“As you wish, sir,” said Sebastian.
“Very well, my Lord,” said (Y/N).
l
(Y/N) was finishing preparations for breakfast the following day when Sebastian stepped into the kitchen. They turned to face him.
“You’ve finished your investigation?” they remarked.
“Not quite,” sighed Sebastian. “I know the killer—Earl Grey. However, I am not at liberty to expose him.”
“Oh?” Now that was interesting. (Y/N) leaned forward.
Sebastian sighed tiredly, almost bored. “It appears I’ve been killed.”
(Y/N) smothered a grin. “Did you get caught off guard? Getting old, are you?”
“Unfortunately, the Young Master would like this to play out longer so the Professor can gain some inspiration,” said Sebastian. As usual, Ciel was putting him through trouble.
“Ah,” said (Y/N) in understanding. “So, how do you want to proceed?”
“I will have you discover me ‘dead,’ ” said Sebastian. He smirked. “And then I shall…assume another role in this play.”
“Very well,” said (Y/N).
“And while I’m gone, please assist Mr. Tanaka is watching over the Young Master,” said Sebastian.
“I will make sure your master is taken care of during your brief departure,” said (Y/N). They smiled at him. “And you know I’ve never failed you.”
Sebastian gazed at them fondly. “I know. That is why I trust you.”
(Y/N) blinked at the intensity of his gaze, and their nose twitched. “So, how do we start?”
“I must go and stab myself again. I have made the other necessary arrangements,” said Sebastian.
“And then I mourn your loss,” said (Y/N).
“I can assure you, I would never allow you to mourn any loss of mine,” said Sebastian. He would never leave them alone. He would be with them until the end of time if they would have him. He would adore them for all eternity, worship them, treat them as the brilliant demon they were.
l
(Y/N) opened the door of Siemens room to find Sebastian positioned on the ground in a pool of blood. They knew he was perfectly alright, but at the idea of Sebastian truly being gone, every part of (Y/N) cringed. To lose him would destroy them. He was all they had in this world.
(Y/N) wouldn’t know what to do with themself if he was gone. He had guided them, made sure they had the strength to face the world as a demon. He respected them as no one ever had, and they loved him. If he were to leave, they’d lose the person they loved, the being who held their heart.
And so, (Y/N) poured all that emotion and love into their performance. And they screamed in agony over lost love as they discovered Sebastian’s “corpse.”

This is not the first fanfic that I imagine and that I start to write but it is the first that I publish!! I really wanted to share this one with you!!
Short summary (a bit important, it's a kind of intro):
Lan Qiren is overprotected by his family and the Lan clan. It is impossible for him to leave the clan and with his overly serious attitude, he has no friends (to the dismay of his brother and father). But deep down, Lan Qiren hides a big secret: a plan to escape. But a meeting will change his destiny. What will be his choice, disappear completely from the eyes of the world, or take risks for the person he loves?
CHAPTER 1 (part 1): "New Faces"
It was barely Mao's¹ time and the Cloud Ressess was, as usual, completely silent. Only the moon gently illuminated the few small animals. You could still hear the raindrops falling from the vegetation after the storm the day before, turning the earth into mud. But the quiet of the night was very briefly interrupted by a presence moving to the door of what appeared to be a bedroom.
The bottom of his white dress was stained with mud and his hair had many leaves on it, not to mention the humidity that was starting to stick his clothes to his body. A fairly muscular body but still a little small for his age. Because yes, this person was indeed Lan Qiren, then aged 15. He hurriedly changed his clothes and fixed his hair, removing the leaves, before sticking a fake moustache and beard on his face with the help of the mirror in his bedroom. Once ready, Lan Qiren approached his desk to retrieve some books and importants things before moving to the door of his room.
He always had this hesitation before giving lessons to the clan disciples. How did he end up teaching children with the same age as him, or even older?
In fact, it all started when he heard that one of the masters was sick. Freedom-loving Lan Qiren had thought that this would allow him to get out of the clan to teach in the field. Who would have thought this will never be letting happen! Not only had no one accepted this, but the worst part was that upon noticing his talent for making geniuses out of his students, the elders had refused to let him stop to be a teacher.
Lan Qiren let out a sigh. He had still been cunning this time since he had had the intelligence to disguise himself, keeping a minimum of discretion and peace. Because yes, now, he was no longer Lan Qiren, second son of the "great" Lan family, but Yao Zhufēng², a most respectful master. Certainly never in a good mood, but nevertheless recognized now throughout the world of cultivation as being a teacher capable of producing students of the same level of excellence as himself.
He was still glad that this label was not stuck to the name of Lan Qiren, the mysterious second son of the Lan family who, in his entire life, had only really been seen by his father and his brother. When he was younger, he realized that it was better if no one really knew what he looked like. By dint of effort, no one who knew his second identity really know what he look like now or what he looked like before.
And if he followed all of her rules of life, it was so that his plan to escape later would work without a hitch.
1: Mao, dawn, from 5am to 7am. In my case, it's more 5am than 7am.
2: I'm not sure about the translation so don't blame me. I wanted his name to have a very specific meaning. Yao Zhufēng : "jade" ; "pursue/chase" ; "wind" Don't try to understand right away, everything will be explained in a future chapter!!
How I loved writing this first part of chapter 1!! I don't know when I'll publish the rest though. It will be according to my desires (so maybe not the next week). It's just that it's taking longer than I thought to write a story before translating it (just with that I'm dying). But I don't plan on giving up!! Well, I hope so.
Bye!!

“Of Blood, Bindings, & Burdens Halved”
Part 2 of 2. (Part 1 here.)
Word Count: 2,449.
Warning(s): Canon-typical injuries, literal hurt/ comfort, no beta but I try my best.
Pairing: F!Rook x Lucanis Dellamorte.
Summary: Healers make the worst patients. And ancient elven gods make for the worst to ask for straight answers from.
🐦⬛Read the whole thing on ao3.
It couldn’t be right. Surely.
Lucanis kept scanning the book, over and over and over again. He was certain his eyes were tricking him somehow. They had to be.
Maybe he was jumping a line, or mixing two of them up. But then he would trace his finger from one line to the next, and they would match.
Over and over and over again.
Ma vhenan…My heart.
She had to have lost too much blood. She couldn’t have meant that. Her head had been resting against his chest. Maybe she had heard his heartbeat. She couldn’t have been referring to him himself, though. That was impossible.
Wasn’t it?
True, she had flirted with him. But Nöa had a certain way of disarming people that came naturally with looks like hers. Yes. She was beautiful. Perhaps the only thing conventional about her were her features.
Classically alluring, some would say. Lucanis would agree.
It was also true that at times he almost thought maybe, just maybe. there was something there. Between them. He was always quick to kill those thoughts.
Because it was impossible. After all, most people considered Crows heartless. And he was a very good Crow. How could anyone think of him as their heart?
How could she think of him as her heart, when her own hardly fit in her chest?
Lucanis sorted the book back in its place. He couldn’t keep looking at the page. He’d drive himself mad. Plus, Nova’s shift was nearly over. Caterina’s cane had beat far too many lessons into him, and one of them had been to always be punctual. Whether it was a contract or a social obligation made little difference.
Lucanis hurried down the winding stairs, footsteps echoing against soft stone walls.
Step. Ma vhenan. Step. My heart. Step. Ma vhenan. Step.
By the time he had made his way to the infirmary, his heart was pounding. He stood outside the door for a moment, taking a deep breath. Once he was confident he could at least feign normalcy, he opened the door.
“Thank the Maker, you’re back!” Nova said dramatically, practically slamming his hands into his hips. “She’s your problem now.”
Lucanis raised an eyebrow, pulling the door closed behind him. “What did you do?” He questioned.
Nöa smiled innocently. “Me?”
Lucanis hummed a dubious confirmation.
“Yes, you.” Nova marched up to Lucanis. “Don’t let her have her way. There’ll be no living with her if you do.” He threw his hands in the air before making his exit. “Damn master assassin and yet he caves the second my sister bats her eyelashes.”
Lucanis chuckled, watching the other Volkarin elf leave. “Did the skeletons teach him that?” He asked Nöa.
“No, that’s all genuine Casanova, I’m afraid.” She told him. “You can’t teach that kind of theatrics.”
“But what did you do?” He asked, leaning himself against the cot.
“Nothing!” Nöa insisted with a shrug.
Was that the first time she had shrugged in a week?
“I just mentioned it might be nice to get some air.” She said at length. “Maybe stretch my legs?”
“Nöa.” Lucanis drawled.
“Baba said to give it a week as long as I kept improving. Now look at me.” Nöa hung her legs over the side of the cot. “It wouldn’t be far. Just around the courtyard and back. I’ll even tell you if I get tired so we can turn back early.” She vowed. “Jumper’s honor.”
Lucanis sighed. “If you get me in trouble with your father…” He warned, raising an eyebrow.
Nöa practically beamed up at him, knowing she had won. “It’s all on me.” She assured him. “Besides, I wouldn’t lie to you.” She was already putting her feet to the floor.
Lucanis offered his hand to her so she could stabilize herself. She hadn’t been up in a week, after all, save to go to the washroom. Honestly, the fact that she waited this long before pleading to make an escape from the infirmary was a miracle.
Her right arm remained in a sling, that way her muscles in her shoulder wouldn’t be pulled while the skin and artery mended.
“I’m good.” She said quietly.
“Alright. Tell me if you get light-headed.” Lucanis walked by her, at the ready should she need him.
“I will. Worrywart.”
Lucanis smiled in the face of her harmless ribbing, moving away from her only to open the infirmary door before returning to her side. Nöa didn’t bother with the slippers she kept by the door, in favor of leaving her feet bare.
They walked together. Slowly.
The second they made it out in the open air of the central courtyard, Nöa took a deep breath, soaking in the open air. She loved the infirmary, she did. It was her space, her own little pocket of the Fade. She had chosen it as her quarters for a reason. But she had missed the fresh air.
“What do you think? Want to have a go-around?” She nodded to the empty training circle on the far side of the cobblestone yard.
“Not a chance.” Lucanis shook his head, still smirking. “How do you feel?”
“Good enough to joke with you about having a sparring match.”
He laughed sardonically.
“I’m fine, thank you for asking.” She answered a little more genuinely. “I know it got worse than you all want to say. I was the one who almost…” She bobbed her head.
“Died.”
Lucanis didn’t want to say it. He had known it every step of the way back to the Lighthouse. At one point, he thought she was gone, however briefly. He didn’t often utilize Spite willingly, but his wings had more than come in handy on that particular flight.
“Yeah, that.” Nöa said softly.
Silence lingered for a moment.
“Tired?” Lucanis asked the further they strayed from the main body of the Lighthouse.
“Are you kidding?”
“I shouldn’t have asked.”
Nöa chuckled as she led him onward. Ancient cobblestone with grass growing in between was nice and cool, spreading through Nöa from the soles of her feet to the top of her head. Every so often, when she could be bothered to wake up early and greet the dawning day, the breeze in the Fade would shift just so, and she would yearn for Arlathan.
She missed the marriage of the quiet and the chaos of the forest. But the Lighthouse made for a fine substitute. For now.
At Lucanis’ quiet insistence, Nöa took a break, resting on a stone-carved bench near the very fringes of the courtyard. The nothingness of the Fade below hung close at hand. She wasn’t going to make the attempt, but Nöa almost wondered what would happen if one of them were to fall…
“Did you say something?”
Lucanis’ eyes studied her. “I just thought you looked like you were thinking about something.”
“Nothing important.” She assured him with a quick laugh.
Lucanis almost laughed back. He settled for shaking his head, amused. “It’s good to see you…back to being you.” He said in a very guarded way, in a way that immediately caught Nöa’s attention.
That’s not what you meant to say.
She smiled anyway, though he caught the slightest strain in the look. “It feels good to feel like me again.”
“Good.” He nodded, pretending to survey the empty courtyard. He cleared his throat, but he didn’t say anything else.
“Thank you, by the way.” Nöa offered, scooting a little closer to him. “I don’t know if I’ve remembered to say that in the midst of all of this.”
How nice. She appreciates you. That must be a new feeling. Usually people curse your name.
“You have. Quite a few times.” He assured her, ignoring Spite’s nagging. “Your fever must have fogged up your memory a bit.”
“Well, it bears repeating, anyway.”
“It wasn’t a problem.” He said.
Aren’t you two precious?
Nöa and Lucanis spoke at the same time.
“Quiet.” Lucanis hissed.
“Shut up!” Nöa scowled at the demon.
Lucanis’ attention snapped to Nöa, Spite entirely forgotten.
Uh-oh.
The moment they both shot their glares at Spite, the demon cackled, and then vanished, his cruel laugh echoing after he was gone. Lucanis’ gaze remained fixed on Nöa. Nöa didn’t shirk away from his gaze, though her shoulders tensed.
“You can see him.” Lucanis said quietly.
It wasn’t a question.
Nöa didn’t answer him, but Lucanis could see the way the muscles of her jaw tensed. They both knew what it meant for her to see Spite.
“Do you want me to apologize? Because I won’t.” Nöa said firmly.
“What were you thinking?” He was almost seething.
“A demon shared is a demon halved, right?” She tried to no avail. More seriously, she said: “I was thinking that this was my chance to help you.” When he opened his mouth, she raised a finger. “Don’t you dare say that you don’t need help. You want him gone. I want him gone. I swore to help you get him gone.”
“I was ready to die to make sure that he was gone.” Lucanis shot back. He didn’t raise his voice, but he rose to his feet. “I can’t very well do that now that your life is on the line, too, can I?”
“And why is that?” Nöa didn’t back down, standing toe to toe with him. “Why are you willing to die when it’s your life, but the second it’s anyone but you, you can’t tolerate even the thought of it?”
“It’s not just anyone. It’s you.”
“And what’s that supposed to mean?” She scoffed. “Why would that matter?”
“Because I can’t lose you!”
The air around them went silent once the echo of his words faded. Deathly silent.
“What?” She said softly.
“You know.” He shook his head, at a loss. “Surely you must know.”
A terrifying reality, one more horrifying than the thought of her fate being bound to his own.
“Did you mean it?” Lucanis asked deliberately.
“What?”
“Vhenan. Did you mean it when you called me that?” His words were insistent, urgency speeding his cadence. Practically begging her to put him out of his misery.
Nöa’s eyes widened.
She remembered saying it, then. At least he knew that much. Even if her lips were loosened by the moment, she was clearly aware she had said it.
“You can’t know what that means.” She shook her head. “How do you…”
“I know how to read. And we live in an ancient safe haven of knowledge.”
He closed the gap between them slowly, until it was Nöa’s turn to fill with anxiety. He took her face in his hands, impossibly gentle for the wickedness those same hands had wrought. And yet her cheeks fit so well in his palms, and her blush-warmed skin felt so good against his fingers.
And when he looked into her eyes all he could think was…
“Anima mia.”
Those words tasted so right on his tongue.
“I…don’t know what that means.” Nöa’s words were faint, carried on a breath that smelled of coffee with far too much milk in it.
“Let me show you.”
“Oh…okay.”
Everything he felt went into his kiss, and Nöa could feel it all at once. His trepidation. His certainty. His uncertainty. His frustration. His adoration. His hope beyond hope. His fear.
It was all-consuming.
Nöa shared in every inch of it, matching his intensity with ease.
It was the sort of kiss you didn’t want to end.
Lucanis pulled away, just barely, his face only inches from hers. Her face still held safely in his hands, she laughed shakily, exhilarated.
Lucanis couldn’t help but laugh, too. “I’m sorry.”
“For what?” Nöa asked softly, breathless.
“I’m not the best at that.” He admitted. “That’s…that’s the first time I’ve kissed someone because I’ve wanted to, not because I had to. Not for a job or to get information. Just because I…”
Maker, he had wanted to kiss her for so long.
“I never thought I’d see you again.” Nöa said, leaning into him, awkward as it was to have her arm tucked between them. “At the Ossuary, seeing you again…”
“I know.” He pressed another kiss into her hair, his fingers twisting through half-curls. “I…I dreamed of you.”
“Made an impression, did I?” She half-laughed, eyes flooding.
“You did.” He answered earnestly. “Honesty is hard to come by in a world full of knives in the dark. You were honest that night, and every moment since. You were you. And you’ve allowed me to be me. I…”
What did he mean to say? That he had dreamed of her, and yet getting to know her had exceeded any dream? That he was fairly certain it was that spark of affection, that glint of hope he held onto so desperately in his darkest hours, that had been used to corrupt Spite, to bind the demon to him that she now shared with him?
“You…mean a great deal to me.” He said at last. “More than I know how to say. But I’d be happy to show you, if you’ll allow it.”
She took one of his hands in her unhindered one. She kissed his knuckles, calloused and worn. She reached up on her toes, kissing his lips again.
“I’m afraid you’re stuck with me now, Dellamorte.” She said, earning a soft laugh from him.
“I’m still not thrilled about the circumstances…but there are worse fates I can think of.”
“We’ll figure this out.” Nöa assured him. “No death required. But I’m afraid a life might still be.”
Lucanis caught her meaning immediately. “A burden shared, a burden halved, right?” And he was more than glad to share his life with her. “I leave myself in your capable hands, my lady.” He said confidently, kissing her hand just to make sure she knew he meant it.
“Maybe just a hand for a while.” She teased gently. “But they’re both yours. For as long as you’ll hold them. I told you, didn’t I? I believe in decisions, not destiny. I’ve made my decision, and I’ll stand by it.”
Decisions, not destiny.
Lucanis pressed a kiss to the center of her brow next.
“My turn.” She stroked her hand along his cheek before kissing him again.
Lucanis closed his eyes, melting into her. He wasn’t sure what decisions he had made that could have ever led him here, to this point, to this moment, to be with her…but he was glad for them, no matter what pain had made them all worth it.
She was worth everything to him, and now he knew she felt the same about him.
And for the first time since this all began, Lucanis felt hopeful.

Worldbuilding: Weather or Not
I was reading a fantasy lately (Dungeon Life 2) and noticed that the story had the seasons properly changing to winter, and more general weather like the first snowfall that sticks, as well as a massive storm that’s more plot-important later. And it struck me that I hadn’t seen weather much in recent works.
Depending on the story, that may not be a problem. It’s hard to have weather on a spaceship, or even a large space station. And sometimes weather just isn’t important to the plot, besides brief mentions of sunshine, rain, fog, or stomping mud and snow off your boots.
If you do want to get it in, though, it can add a lot of local color, and even a plot point or three. Sherlock Holmes’ London would not be the same without its infamous fogs. A story of Christmas often fits better if the kids are expecting snow, while a frustrated aunt or uncle is silently debating whether or not they should try to explain that the Victorian Christmas reflects some of the colder years of the Little Ice Age, and actual snow on Christmas would be a very bad sign indeed. Or the classic driving rain when you’re after a murderer; first you lose him in the falling drops, and then you find his trail... only to see it washed away....
One of Grace Burrowes’ mysteries (Lady Violet Attends a Wedding) uses a series of rainy days to great effect; to plant subtle clues, to keep people inside (or make it obvious when they haven’t been) and finally even to threaten a life. The weather matters.
You might not want to tie weather so tightly to your plot, but you can learn a lot about a character if he considers shapes of clouds in the wind, or if she slows down in a sunshower to watch light sparkle off the rain. I mean, if you’re drenched already....
The problem is that it can take a long time to write a book, and maybe longer to edit it. By the time you’re putting on the finishing touches, the weather’s usually completely different.
This is not an easy problem to solve.
If you’re doing a short timeframe and very distinctive weather patterns, like the lead-up to and through a hurricane, you may be able to wing it. Likewise if you’re set your story in a place like where you’ve lived, and you know the weather well.
If you don’t... research. A lot of cities and even some small towns have entries on Wikipedia with climate, precipitation, and temperatures seen through a typical year. See what you can find.
Then stop worrying about being accurate and aim for drama.
Have the rain come down in torrents when your hero’s heart is broken. Have the thunder and lightning briefly lull, just at the right moment for the villain to explain his Master Plan. Have the battle won... and the storm slowly fades, a hint of dawn sun peeking through.
Tweak the weather as needed to fit the story. Your readers will appreciate it!

sugar apple fairy tale vol 3 / episode 9-12 comparison thoughts:
-ah, so the anime totally cuts hugh meeting the workshop masters, and mentioning his history, of how he was an orphan and took on an sugar candy apprenticeship and now, twenty years later, guess who is an amazing silver sugar viscount? this guy! yeah, i can see why the anime cut this, but it does explain how hugh was such a good pickpocket enough to steal challe's wing.
-ngl, i... i kinda ship challe/kat. like. kat breathes, and challe, without any prompting, decides it's time for a cat pun. and he knows it drives kat mad!!! he's absolutely having the time of his life provoking kat, and i'm just like. you gotta be having some kind of big dumb crush on kat and can't handle it, because oh my god challe. it's way more prevalent in the light novel, and i cannot help but snicker. look, it's just. if challe disliked kat, he could easily treat him coldly, like he does with bridget, he could be polite and aloof like he tends to be with everyone else. but nooooo, challe loves making the cat puns, and kat is just!!! why!!!! why does this amuse you so!!! that cat pun doesn't even make sense! chaIle just loves winding kat up, bless him, and no one can stop this menace! so i think challe also loves kat's unchanging reactions! (it is v. v. cute!)
-they merge the meeting of anne/keith in the radcliffe workshop. in the light novel, anne briefly meets keith when he puts a stop to jonas and the radcliffe boys in book 2, nine months pass, and anne thinks he looks familiar but can't place him when they meet again in book 3. in the anime, they meet for the first time. tbh, this makes sense to save time for the story.
-also omg, anne/keith is so so cute! like i absolutely noticed how swoony keith gets, he has a couple of romantic moments in the anime, where the music swells, and rereading the novel, it's so cute how keith does naturally bring out a lightness in anne? he gets her to relax and feel comfortable and have fun, and those interactions are adorable! he respects her as a fellow sugar artisan, he treats her as a warm friend, and like, yeah, by the end i kinda do want them to have crushes on each other, they think so highly of each other! i also like the similarity of their backstory: how they're both children of sugar viscounts, and that he briefly met emma halford.
-lmaooo at jealous!challe tho. how he thinks he's selfish with anne, but also... cannot stop himself, cannot figure it out what he's feeling, what it means, so unlike his relationship with liz, but he must draw comparisons, because how else is he going to make sense of it!! ngl, i think the voice actor does a terrific voice making challe sound extra emotional when he's around anne, like it's just so good! it's warm! she's precious to him! he does not want to leave her!!!
-matchmaker!mithril!!!! stupid cute!!! i love mithril asking challe silly questions that are supposed to be for anne's benefit, but challe just doesn't get it, and tho anne is flattered at the help, it... still annoying tho... but then she tries to ask the same question herself and chickens out. anne!!!
-tbh, while i do think bridget & anne are good foils to each other, how they treat challe, i was actually kinda interested in bridget being foils with both challe & jonas this time around. bridget thinks she's in love with challe, but what she feels is nothing more than entitlement, which challe tries to spell out to her, to no avail, when she's actually in love with orlando, i think? it's been a while since i watched part 2 of the anime. but challe thinks he's in love with liz, and doesn't really get why liz says he's not, and actually he's in love with anne and can't recognize it for what it is. jonas & bridget being foils, again, falsely claiming that they're in love with anne/challe, but also being the reason anne & challe separate this time around, jonas forces anne to send anne away to create his escape from duke alburn, bridget forces challe to barter himself in order to save anne.
-oh jonas, i can never hate you. his arc has been so interesting to me, that i can't help but wonder what's in store for him, honestly! i wish i could have found out what he intended to make but alas: expulsion from the radcliffe workshop. i don't think he hates anne, despite what he says, but he can't really deal with his emotions, and it's easier to misdirect them so people don't know what he's really feeling. like honestly, i think he's ashamed of himself, and while he doesn't like anne all that much right now, he does owe her, and he doesn't want her hurt. so he just -- he's not sure what to do with himself, or how to deal with his insecurity besides leave anne alone, for most part. i think he wavers slightly more in the light novel, tbh, like he looks out for her in his own awkward way, but only barely.
-i think it's interesting how the anime changed anne&challe visiting the cathedral slightly. in the light novel, people aren't supposed to know the fairy king's name, at least say it aloud, and they get directed elsewhere if they want to know the history, and if they can read highlandian: luckily challe can, so he whispers it all into anne's ear, so no one can hear them. totally makes sense to cut some of this tbh, bc it's not that necessary, and the anime includes the important parts, but it was still a neat worldbuilding detail tbh.
-so sad that mithril driving kat (and benjamin, tho he was snoozing for most of it) insane got cut tho!!! mithril, the best wingman!! staying behind to give anne some privacy spending time with challe!! he's doing his best!! meaning that he hangs out with kat instead!!!
-also!!! i kind of didn't get why benjamin would call mithril suru-suru in the light novel, honestly? but rewatching the anime, and benjamin sleepily calls mithril... sithril...? i got it more. like i knew he was mispronouncing mithril's name, but it's easier to make sense of it in the anime because of the audio imo.
-anne and challe's separation is way more emotional in the anime, tbh? like it is sad in the light novel too, but the way everything gets animated and played out in the anime, i just get swept up in the emotion of it all. these star crossed lovers!!! how can i not cry! whereas the light novel, bc it's more interested in the aftermath of the competition: keith & anne looking forward to future competitions, anne understanding what the real/imitation meant when it happened with duke alburn, and then the slow dawning of anne & challe separating... doesn’t feel quite as sad, i think imo? anne's voice actor is really great, as she's trying to figure out why challe is leaving, and he doesn't properly explain himself beyond that he doesn't want to leave her, but he has to. the anime's visuals... tore at the heartstrings.
so, in the end, i think i'm bumping up my rating of 9/10 to a 10/10, because i do think the anime did a great job at capturing the fairy tale feeling of it all, the slice of life moments, the friendships anne forms along the way and the obstacles she overcomes. i like how the confectionery looks different to the normal graphics. it did a wonderful adaptation, and did justice to the characters, and how they're slowly falling in love with each other, and no matter what format i consume this story, it is just delightful in every way!

The Sun and the Void, by Gabriela Romero Lacruz
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ches, the god of the sun, and Rahmagut, the god of the void, have been absent from the world ever since Ches defeated Rahmagut and sealed him away. But every so many years the celestial phenomenon known as Rahmagut's Claw crosses the night sky, heralding the opportunity to seek the god's favor to satisfy one wish. Such a time is upon the land. Reina, born powerless, seeks strength through her grandmother, a powerful sorceress, but instead winds up indebted to her. At the same time, Eva wants nothing more than to rise to her full potential, but with her family suppressing her true nature she decides to take her life into her own hands. As the stories of these two young women converge upon Rahmagut's tomb, dueling ambitions will determine whether the world continues on in relative peace or if the land will be thrust into chaos.
The world building in this novel is fantastic. It's a fantasy world based on Venezuelan history and folklore, with a magic system centered around using real-world metals as reagents. There were indigenous people who lived in the land before human colonizers arrived, as well as a revolution that brings to mind the rebuffing of certain real-world colonial empires. This is the first book of a series, and honestly it's mostly set-up. But the set-up is so interesting that I didn't even care. I can't say enough how much I love the magic system. It's exactly the right balance of simple and complex.
The dual-PoV was done very well. I found the two voices to be distinct, and the characters were believable. Sometimes they did foolish things — very foolish things — but those mistakes seemed natural. The supporting characters were also excellent(Maior was my favorite, by the end). I'm not sure what I think about Javier. I feel like I know where the author is taking his arc, and I think it's going to annoy me. I'd say he's honestly the biggest weakness of the entire book for me, because he leans on tropes — the sick boy, the jerk, the master manipulator — that I'm not a huge fan of, and yet he's so central. Fortunately he's not the only relationship present, so that softens the annoyance a bit, and the fact that Maior exists almost cancels his unpleasantness out.
The author is also an illustrator and has drawn her five primary characters. They appear in the book, some at the start of part 1 and some at part 2, and can also be viewed on her website. If you're a visual reader like me, I recommend checking all five portraits before you start reading so your brain performance of the book doesn't do any odd recasting. There is sapphic rep here, though in this first book at least it's predominantly incessant longing with some small payoff near the very end. The author claims that the next book will be spicier, so I imagine it will get more development later.
The book has frequent action sequences, mixing physical combat with spellcasting. This is going to be a weird comparison, because the settings and plots are nothing alike — not to mention I trust this author more than I trust Cassandra Clare — but whenever the characters were fighting I kept getting Shadowhunters vibes. In a good way. Don't @ me, I said it was weird.

Best Water Sports Activities in Dubai
Dubai and its offerings never cease to amaze its admirers; one such activity is the water sports in Dubai. Dubai water activities include a wide range of options with various thrill meters suitable for everyone. Water activities in Dubai include parasailing, jet skiing, speed boating, kitesurfing, diving, windsurfing, and swimming with dolphins; though there are many other activities, these are the most popular. Dubai, though barren and arid, boasts of numerous activities.

Parasailing
Among all the water activities in Dubai, one must not miss the thrill and the excitement of parasailing. A boat will leisurely take you up the wind, and you will soar like a mighty eagle over the vast ocean and endless skies. The views of the Dubai skyline, along with the natural landscape, are sure to be a treat for every eye. The average cost is around AED 420, but we suggest you check the weather conditions before booking.
Jet Skiing

The power of the machine over the vast water body calls out every adventurer; the Jet Ski Dubai is a must for everyone. The visual appeal is a delight as Dubai's iconic buildings give it all a surreal feel. The ride across the mighty waves and the wind in your hair is a scene to be captured for social platforms and to make your friends jealous. The ticket range starts from AED 300 for 15 minutes to AED 900 for 2 hours. Just make sure to wear the protective gear for every activity.
Speed boating

While the activities mentioned above are solo, the thrill of having the entire family onboard a speed vehicle over the dancing waves and chasing dolphins is a sight to behold forever. While on the boat, the views will keep changing from the numerous landmarks of Dubai. The average price of a ticket starts from AED 150 for 30 mins to AED 300 for 1 hour. As you will be dancing around the waves, make sure to protect yourself.
Kitesurfing

Kitesurfing is a relatively new sport which the young Gen Z people are adoring. Normal surfing requires skill to negate the tough waves, but with the assistance of the giant parachutes, any novice can master and ride on the waves. Some of the places have dedicated kids zones, too. Though you might fall a few times, with a few lessons and a helping hand, you will enjoy the thrill. The average cost of a ticket for this beauty starts from AED 220. Always have proper guidance and wear adequate protective gear while attempting such activity.
Diving

One of my favourite activities, diving into the ocean, has a different thrill altogether. But here, that is easily attainable at the mesmerizing Palm Atlantis, which has a gigantic aquarium where you can jump in and face the wide array of animals. Get to witness the colourful corals and the marine fishes, which are sparkling with colour, get close to a shark and have some fear. At this, you can see around 65000 marine flora and fauna. The average ticket starts from AED 300, but book from official websites only.
Swimming with Dolphins

Dolphins are said to have brilliant brains and can interact with humans; this makes this species even more attractive and playful. The Dubai Dolphinarium is a must-visit for every dolphin lover. You can witness a variety of activities and help in the conservation efforts of the park. Also, they have penguins if you like; who does not? You can also swim with dolphins and as every member can opt for this sport, that makes it even more attractive. The average cost of a ticket starts from AED 40. They also have seal shows, which will surely steal your heart.
Flyboarding

Have you ever wanted to fly across the ocean? Now, it is possible. Come to Dubai and get acquainted with a pack of jetpacks under your feet, and you are good to go. The thrill is paramount and outshines even jet skiing. As for the guidance, you will be trained and monitored all the way, but with some practice, you can marvel and feel like a superhero. The thrill starts at AED 350 for 30 minutes, so buckle up and enjoy. Make sure you understand the instructions correctly before attempting.
Flyfish
The water thrill is never-ending, so here is one more to add to the list of water activities in Dubai. You will be strapped on a giant E-shaped balloon and that will ride across the ocean with speed. Ride with your partner and get the thrill of a lifetime. Ensure to capture some images as they come out very well against the water backdrop. The average cost of tickets starts from AED 200 for 15 minutes. As usual, please wear the necessary gear and check the weather before booking.
Summary:
To summarise, all the water sports activities in Dubai are top-notch, and everyone must try them as and when possible. What completes all the experience is the availability of the best waterparks in Dubai. So, it does not matter where the action is; even if the weather is rough, they have indoor options to choose from and have a blast.

Maybe We’re Not So Different (part 2)
[part 1] [part 3]
vance hopper x fem! reader
characters aged up, high school, please see pinned for explanation/reasoning
playlist || master list
reader dynamic change for plot, i was listening to deftones well writing this and it shows
DETAILS DETAILS DETAILS
S L O W B U R N I N G
words: 2060
warnings: strong language, drug use(cigarettes), vance being vance, ooc vance, “mean” reader, injuries, mentions of bruises, a n g s t, OC’s for drama purposes

That night in the park stuck like glue to both of their minds, she was different then what Vance had heard. y/n had the same thoughts in her mind, she was right, he wasn’t as scary as he thought, though she’d never tell him that.
y/n skin was still painted in colourful bruises by mondays time, having spent her weekend alone in her room she held no desire for seeing anyone that day. She was no longer seen as the harmless quiet girl, the world around her changed their thoughts of her demeanour, i guess that’s what happens when you break a girls nose.
Pushing the heavy metal doors open, people watched her every step. Once flying under the radar of everyone to being in the spotlight wasn’t something y/n was fond of.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Hours felt like decades sitting through her classes, eyes burning holes through her skin. God all the fucking eyes, watching her, looking at her like she was some kind of display drove her mind crazy. Her skin burned hot like it would melt off at any given moment.
Her pace was quicker walking from one class to the next, sure she liked attention but not like this. Dirty looks and side eyes followed her everywhere she went, her veins pumped ice cold rage through her body, feeling like she could explode any minute.
y/n walked with her head down, colliding with another body. “fucking watch out dipshit” clenching her jaw as she looked up ‘fucking great’ she thought.
Bruce Yamada, she hated him right now. there he was standing directly infront of her. “watch out, might run into the wrong person” Bruce’s eyes shifted to Vance and his goons at the end of the hall, god he made her insides boil.
“At least he doesn’t get his dreams and reality confused” y/n intended to play her favourite game, gathering ever last calm nerve in her body, her lips dropped into an innocent smile. Bruce looked at the girl confused.
Lifting a piece of her hair, twirling it between her fingers. “I can’t even imagine how hard it must be for you, having to constantly come up with lies to keep yourself interesting to others” her voice was steady and soft, fake pout resting on her lips hand dropping back down to her books “poor boy, must be so exhausting being that boring” slightly shrugging her shoulders offering up a half smile and a small wave, y/n turned away leaving him there.
Bruce was bewildered over the words spoken to him, was she right? Did he lie to people about what he did? Well yeah, but didn’t everyone? y/n words slowly sunk deeper into him the more he recalled them.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
y/n wore an entertained smirk the remainder of that day, mind tricks where her favourite way of getting back at people. Sure it didn’t have an immediate impact like fighting did, but it lasted longer.
Making people question themselves, overthink the way they did things was just how she got revenge. Nobody expects the sweet girl from their math class to mentally fuck them with a few sentences.
She took pride in the way she challenged peoples thoughts, maybe it wasn’t something she should have been so proud of, but then again if people could physically attack each other, why couldn’t she psychologically do it?
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Like any other night the girl found herself sitting in the park again, alone in the dark was when her mind spoke the most. Toxic air filling and leaving her lungs, whisked away by gentle winds.
Vance found himself drawn to walk the paths though the park again, he wanted to see her again. Never would he admit that, not to himself let alone speak it out loud. Without second thoughts that’s where he headed.
There she was, sat in a different place this time. the swings. Her back was turned to him but he knew it was her. It could have been her hair, it often fell messy down her back. Maybe it was the shoes, laces stretched and tightened endless times they reached the ground even when tied. Perhaps it was the steady steam of smoke that came from her hand.
she lived in solitary, he found that captivating.
Vance carried himself soundlessly towards the long haired girl, placing himself left of her. y/n sensed his presence before he was visible to her.
he was fervent, she found it admiring.
Without a word y/n reached in her pocket holding a now slightly squished pack of camels towards the boy. Vance’s fingertips brushed her cold fingers, pulling a dart and her lighter offered to him.
Eyes lingering to the left, y/n observed. Small sparks flickering off the flame, lighting the end of his cigarette. Fire illuminated his features.
He felt her gaze, he didn’t mind her eyes watching him. Vance didn’t smoke much but enjoyed how it felt with her. He felt at ease, silence was comforting when she sat next to him.
The world moved slower, both could breath.
“You could say hi you know” y/n spoke in a hushed tone rocking on her swing. He smiled whispering out a hello.
Smiles where strange, nobody smiled at him and he certainly didn’t smile at anyone.
y/n hummed, his fingers fiddled with the chains. Soon y/n finished her smoke standing from her seat, turning facing the blonded boy. Fingers shuffling through her pocket pulling out a crunched up piece of paper, Vance watched her confused when it was placed in his hand.
Without another word, y/n was off. vance watched her walk away till she was no longer in his sight.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Vance didn’t unfold that note right away, he waited till he was home. Sat in his bed watching his ceiling, humming coming from the stereo across the room.
His fingers once again fiddled, only this time unfolding the paper. He sat up smoothing out the crinkles the best he could.
He was confused why she gave him a note instead of just talking. Sure he understood why most people didn’t talk to him, but you were different. It was like you challenged him.
Vance sighed, his hair fell when he looked down at the piece of paper. She has pretty writing.
“words loud, actions louder, but feelings loudest. i feel sane with you”
Infatuated over simple words that held deeper meanings Vance read the lines over and over. He didn’t fully understand what y/n had meant but something inside his mind told him he felt the same.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Emily was back the next day meaning everyone was now focused on her and her bandaged nose. y/n really didn’t know how much damage she did that day. Emily’s face was bruised pretty bad.
She deserved it.
The brown haired girl often blew things out of proportion. Expanding the truth to the point it was almost a lie.
y/n was just grateful all the attention was finally off her.
y/n stood at her locker changing her books and gathering her homework.
Her body was shoved by strong shoulders into her locker, she turned to say something stopping herself seeing it was Vance.
He looked down at something on the floor then back to her as he kept walking. y/n looked down spotting a crinkled up paper of his own.
She picked up the ball unraveling it as she stood back up.
“you’re not that bad. park tonight.”
y/n smiled folding the note up neatly placing it in her pocket. She was always at that park, he just didn’t know that yet.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
She got to the park at her usual time, Vance a few minutes later. They took place on the swings again. “Hey” y/n smiled softly at the curly haired boy “Weather man said it’s gonna rain soon”
Vance nodded “Yeah i saw that” y/n shrugged handing him one of the two cigarettes left in her pack, he took it waiting his turn with the lighter.
y/n watched the cloud rolling in above, Vance watched her. Oblivious to his stare she smiled “I love the rain” he’d remember that. who liked the rain? “Why? It makes everything wet and gross”
She looked at him questioningly “I find it lovely, rain makes me happy” y/n took a deep breath “It’s like the world is washing away all the bad things.” He never thought like that.
“I guess that makes sense” he shrugged, both of them falling silent. It stayed like that till it was time for them to part. y/n stood first. “I like the silence” she smiled down to him “Until next time” and with that she left and the rain came.
Vance walked home, recalling how she thought of the rain. Maybe it really wasn’t that bad, maybe he liked the rain too.

Vance became a staple in her nightly routine.
Often times the pair sat in silence, listening to how the earth talked at night. Glancing at one another through the few minutes they shared each night. Eyes fell into eyes, like souls spoke to each other. Small innocent touches, pinkies linked with one another. The time they spent together started getting longer and longer and yet only a hello was spoken each time.
Vance dropped a note into y/n’s palm one night before he left. It wasn’t uncommon for him to do that, it was their way of speaking to each other.
“let’s talk”
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
y/n braced herself for that night, not having spoken but a few sentences to each other over the past few weeks they’d know one another. She sometimes wondered how he’d speak to her. his notes where often short, she kept each one in the top drawer of her bed side table.
She wouldn’t expect it but he too kept each one of her notes, safely hidden away in his closet.
y/n made him feel warm, Vance made her feel understood. Things neither of them had felt before.
Vance was there in his usual spot, the left swing, when she arrived that night. y/n took her place, following their routine offering him a stick from her pack in which he took.
y/n noticed his knuckles bruised and split, she looked at her own hand, hers where scared from when she’d used violence.
Over the weeks they noticed the ways the other dealt with those who pissed them off.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
y/n wasn’t always quiet, matter of fact she really wasn’t. If you knew her well she could talk for hours. she also wasn’t as nice as people believed. Like Vance she had things that sent her into a spiral. Only well vance physical hurt, y/n did it mentally. She stuck more, biting at peoples souls rather then making them bleed.
Vance didn’t understand why she chose words over pounding someone’s face in, while y/n didn’t understand why he chose momentary pain over a lasting mark.
The two of them where the same but so different, Vance made people panic, y/n made fear slowly creep into their minds.
Though not understand why one another chose different poisons, they admired eachothers effects on others.
Slowly Vance realized words would cut deeper and y/n found force would work faster.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
“Your bruises are pretty” her voice hummed smoothly with sounds of the night, he turned looking at her then his hand. He found it odd to complement the result of his violent tendencies, he appreciated it.
Reaching out he linked his pinky with hers, hands falling between two swings was comforting. “There for you” y/n looked at him brows knitting together. “How so?” Vance shrugged, eyes lifting off his hand meeting with hers “I didn’t like the way someone was talking about you”
y/n gave him eyes of awe, she’d never look at him like that. “Vance ‘pinball’ Hopper” he liked the way his name left her lips “That is the most romantic thing i’ve ever heard”
The way she admired his violence made him feel better, it wasn’t something he always had control over.
“I saw some make that girl cry earlier, what was that about?” he asked, she squeezed her pinky around his dropping her gaze. “A similar situation”
She didn’t see the way his eyes sparked. Someone speaking up for him? Vance never expected that, definitely not from you at that.

- Love Is A War Series ~ Aemond x Reader
• Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6
Part 7 Part 8 Part 9
• MAIN-MASTER-LIST
• HOTD-MASTER-LIST
Warnings: Death, mentioned child birth
Synopsis: You’re finally back with your family in Pentos. Yet it isn’t all sunshine and rainbows.
———————
With my family alas. My heart can stop jumping out of my chest when Septa’s voice loomed over me. I stood with my hands pressed against the stone ledge - not dull and ugly like the red keep. But a warm sunbathed beige. The wind kissed at my face as I stared out to the sea.
I leaned further excitement rampaging through my veins as I watched my father and mother. Caraxes flying straight up. My room being darkened as the vermilion scaled belly the flew past. I could no longer see them, but I knew they were far above me.
Carxe’s whistle and Vahgar’s heavy grunt called out like thunder in a summers sky. Green soon followed by red; rushing past my open window balcony. Their blonde hair trailed behind them. Once they were out of sight and hearing range I grabbed a book and sat on the ledge. ‘The histories of the seven kingdoms.’
Kepa had gifted it to me for my seventh name day, he would read it to me till I would drift asleep and my head would rest on Muña’s lap as my sister’s rested either side of me. The blue soon turned orangey pink and the waves slowly sloshed against the shore. The bustling in the dinning rose me from seat on the ledge, my back growing sore from the ever-digging stone.
I walked into the quaint hall. The large table set out with an array of exotic foods you would never would have found at the seemingly never-ending dinners with King Viserys and his wife. I zoned out once the annoying man’s voice began to drone on - I wish I had stayed in my room now.
“A toast to Aegon the Conqueror, your exalted forebear, who joined our cause against Volantis in the Century of Blood. On the great dragon Balerion,” I lazily held my cup in the air my arm slowly growing tired. Not missing the way my father gave my mother a look, “he flew to our aid in Lys and burned a fleet of enemy ships, thus turning the tide.”
My father stood up and we all raised our cups even higher. “Aegon the Conqueror.”
“To Aegon.” We all said our praise in unison. My perfect sisters smiling brightly at father, I rolled my eyes in hunger. My father drank from his cup finally sitting down.
Reggio’s voice rejoiced again. “This brings me to some business. A proposal I wish to make in the spirit of honouring our storied alliance.” Here we go. I gulped down a mouthful of wine and shovelled some pork into my mouth.
My mother’s soothing voice calmed my mind as always, “If your aim is to marry one of our daughters, Your Excellence, you might have said so and spared us the history lesson.”
I grew pale and just as fast as my apatite left, we left the dinner. Mother stood behind Rhaena and her soft hands pushed Baela and I along. I went into my chambers my bath already drawn. The mad undid my dress the cold biting at my naked skin.
Fully submerged. Surrounded by warm water, finally at peace. My eyes tired and droopy. My head tipped back, eyes closing just for a second. A raven cawed. The piercing noise making me jump. I stood up grabbing my robe and wrapped it around me. I put my arm out allowing the bird to hop onto my arm. I carried it inside. Taking the parchment from its beak. He flew from my arm back into the night.
I slipped on my night gown ready to go see father and mother to wish the goodnight. The parchment staring at me from where it rested on my desk as I left the room.
Finally, I found Rhaena. I knocked on the door and entered. She sat knees to her chest staring at the egg. I sat next to her watching as the fire danced iver the scaled egg. “You will have dragon Rhaena it may not be born to you, but I know you will be a strong dragon rider just as Aegon’s wife Rhaenys was.”
She leaned her head on your shoulder, “and you will be Visenya Y/n. What about Baela?”
She lifted her head and stared at me, “She can be Meraxes, but don’t tell her I said that” I whispered and smiled as the girl giggled. We were startled by our mother’s screams. “Wait here and do not move, okay?” She nodded and I ran out of the room.
“Kepa? Kepa!” I ran round the corner stopping as her screams stopped. My heart never left its place in my throat until it dropped to my stomach when I saw my father press his back to the wall. I saw the bottom of mother’s dress dust around the corner of the open doorway that led to the beach where Vahgar rested.
I ran after her. Slowing to a stop when I saw my mother. I was about to call out until a weak “Dracarys,” seeped from her chapped lips and Vahgar opened her mouth flurried swirls of fire flowed out. I felt sick. Bile rising to my throat.
“Leana!” That was my father, but he was muffled. I cried, gasping as no air entered my lungs as I ran forward. “Y/n! Y/n!” My father called after me.
“Muña! Muña!” It hurt. It hurt everywhere. I couldn’t see. My vision became blurry with tears. I kicked and screamed louder as my father snatched me from the ground (finally having caught up). “Muña! Muña.” My father pulled me away shushing me softly.
Baela and Rhaena stood in the doorway hands clasped together tears in their eyes. He finally let go of me and I fell to the floor sickened. I felt my sisters’ arms around me. Baela’s quiet voice asking father whether it was true then their bodies shaking with mine. I looked up at my father watching as he wiped his tears.
I opened the door sluggishly my warm room greeting me. I was about to be comforted by the soft sheets only for the roll of parchment to catch my eye. I got up crumpling it into my hand. I walked to the fire that illuminated the room in an orange hue tossing it in. Watching as the paper burned.
What was the point in reading it Aemond can just tell me all about it at the funeral.

Pulling at the Thread of the Day Court and the Dawn Court Pt.1 - Alchemy & Other Realms
☆ All SJM spoilers: ACOTAR, CC, and TOG ☆
I might be putting this insanity out into the tumblr wilds, but trust that I do not think anyone would ever care to read something this long. Idk if my college thesis was this long. This is a literal invitation into how my neurodivergent brain works. Expect real a to b to q to wow we've just fully veered off the road... where are we even going? energy. If you get tired along the way — yeah, trust me that's normal.
So, I'm doing my first re-read of ACOTAR!! Tbh during the first go around I struggled with the OG trio (I DNFed ACOFAS multiple times lol) and it's been well over a year since I've read them. But recently, I binged every other SJM book/series. So during my messy reread I've been picking up on a lot. And enjoying it more! But there were two fleeting moments from ACOMAF & ACOWAR that caught my eye and led me down what will become (maybe) the longest fucking theory spiral. Like multi part...
Honestly? It's been so fun. My job is very soul sucking.
In short — nothing about this will be short lol — the thread I followed brought me to Helion, his Day Court, and weird connections to both the Thesan/the Dawn Court and one of ACOTAR’s many unexplored Faerie Realms. And some realms not in ACOTAR. I also take a look at both Helion and Thesan’s powers (as well as some others) that have me questioning... some unexplored "magic" from multiple worlds. Happy to call all of it crack theory, but I will be citing as much canon as tumblr's image limit allows. This is gonna be a long and winding road!
I always add books and page numbers (and try to add any other relevant citations) to the visuals/sources I use, so check those out if you need some extra info!
Color Key: spoilers, notes from me 2 u, important, important + links, mentioned later in the post, mentioned in another post of mine or in a future post
Day Court Powers and Dawn Court Powers
Alright, so the moment that caused me to spiral was a snipe from Lucien in Chapter 11 of ACOWAR. Feyre’s plan to GTFO of the Spring Court is fully in motion, but she's freaking out about Hybern weaponizing faebane. Breezing past that, Lucien confronts her about being a big ol’ liar whilst reminding her that he has other friends, ok?
So, two things: I was trying to remember who Lucien’s friend was and thought, Oh right, the ‘Master Tinkerer.’ The friend that made Lucien’s golden eye, which is itself magical.
But then I got caught up in a different question... Like hold up, what healing powers did Feyre use in this moment he’s talking about?
Because that's the main power of the Dawn Court that's canon thus far. Especially because Lucien is pointing out that his friend’s light and Feyre’s light comes from “the same power,” which he seems to know intimately, and their “light is identical.” At first, I was just confused because who is this non-High Lord person with High Lord power? And are we all cool with that or...?
So I flip back to ACOMAF to remind myself wtf we’re talking about here… which of Thesan’s — or the Dawn Court’s — powers did Feyre use in the Hybern/Cauldron event at the end of the book? A display noticeable enough that Lucien clocked Feyre's light looking familiar — perhaps because his mechanical/magical eye might have related functions.
As it turns out we're not talking about Thesan’s powers at all… we’re talking about Helion’s powers. Which might be why Lucien is intimately familiar with how the power works — for wholly different reasons... like having inherited Helion’s powers himself.
So Feyre breaks through Hybern's wards so she can get her sisters and IC out and reestablishes her bond speaking with Rhys, but notably she still can't feel the bond with Hybern's spell crushing down on it. But she pretends she's broken the "curse" Rhys has put on her to make her like him more than Tamlin...
Tamlin... my dude... no...
And while Feyre gave an Oscar worthy performance convincing everyone that her very nice Night Husband was evil the whole time, Lucien is suspicious as hell... and so is his eye.
Lucien knew Feyre was full of shit and with “centuries of cultivated reason” he might know about some other lies *cough* who his real dad is *cough*. But his mating bond with Elain has freshly snapped into place… so his priorities shifted, one could say, and doesn’t call Feyre out.
Ok, so where are we now?
Feyre used Helion’s Day Court power - his light and his cursebreaking/spellbreaking to take down Hybern’s wards so the Night Court could get her recently Made sisters out of dodge. Lucien clocks this because he has a friend in the Dawn Court with the same abilities and the same light and also maybe because he personally knew Papa Helion’s powers were being used.
Here's a post from whitewolf-ofdoranelle: detailing some evidence about Lucien maybe knowing the truth about Helion and his powers.
About Light in the SJM Multiverse:
It's becoming more important by the second!
We have many different shades that seemingly allude to overarching people/powers/plots. Most of the time when we encounter characters using or emitting light, they/we don’t exactly know where it comes from or how it works. Which is why so much of the understanding re: our shining characters is still just speculation at this point.
But we know it's for sure important with the introduction of the Starborn Line in Crescent City and the lore that connects Midgard and Prythian (tho the stories are not identical... someone is lyinggg). We’re building that knowledge more extensively as the multiverse comes into play.
For example, when Feyre glows after the mate-a-thon with Rhysand in the mountain cabin she wonders what court's light is turning her into a 100 watt bulb...
It very well might be a different light! Helion's light has been described as healing! Of all the glowy boys — Thesan is actually the glowiest and the brightest! Are they different? Are they the same? I really don't know!!! And I'm sorry if I've made you more confused now too. Tho I do delve into Thesan more towards the end.

A thought I've had re: Helion's kind of light (I'll get more into in another post) has everything to do with Pelias... and Helion's sensitivity to the Dread Trove.
In ACOSF, Helion has to have the IC cover the mask and physically remove himself from the area... no one else has this sensitivity (at least to this extreme) and all Helion has to say for himself is this:
It's worth noting that in Midgard they don't seem to have the same distinctions regarding light powers. Like... everyone who glows (minus Hunt) is Starborn?
In Prythian we have Dawn Court light, Day Court light, Night Court shadows and perhaps this (to borrow the Midgard term) Starborn light. Pelias, the controversial figure in the lore connecting P + M in the King Fionn and Theia story, is said to be a Starborn prince. But at every turn the Princes of Hel are quick to point out that Pelias' power and his light are nothing like Theia's — who is, by their claim, the true Starborn power holder — and her daughters'. They also say Theia's daughters have starborn and shadow gifts, but that isn't necessarily part of Pelias' skill set either... I'm lookin' at you Aidas.
Anyway, I've toyed with the idea that perhaps Pelias' light powers, because Midgard lacks the distinction between light powers, could be Day Court-like. And it would make sense that the Dread Trove would ward against anyone in that lineage considering "Pelias wielded [Luna's] Horn until he died" (HOEB). JUST SOME THOUGHTS.
Check out this absolutely incredible (a comprehensive) theory post from @wingedblooms about the different kinds of light in the SJM Multiverse
But back to Lucien’s friend who has Day Court powers… who is she?
It’s Nuan! A character I was like, "She seems cool, can’t wait to get to know her.”
And then ACOWAR ended and we never heard from her again... womp. But, some might call this a loose end.
It's me. I'm calling it that.
Considering she played a big role in Lucien’s life (a former main-ish character with nothing but loose ends), provided critical help to win the war against Hybern, has a suspicious amount of power, technical skills, and connection to distant faerie realms we still know frustratingly little about… Nuan has nothing but potential! Welp, let’s get into it.
So remember how Feyre is like “What if everything I eat has faebane in it, wow that’s suddenly a huge problem for us right now on the verge of war?” And then Lucien is like, “You have my friend’s powers, you liar?” Coincidental? Cool.
When Nuan is finally introduced by name, she's shown up at the tensest High Lord meeting ever at the Dawn Court. Why? She wants to let everyone know she invented a cure for that pesky Faebane. Helpful!
There is a metric ton stuffed into her introduction and it's hard to even know where to begin, but I'll try.
Just know the “she looks kind of like Amren thing” is incredibly specific and out of nowhere.
Whenever SJM throws in an “oh, I just kinda thought that… strange” and “oh hm maybe i saw that person glowing like a 60 watt bulb but maybe not” etc etc etc… statements, they are always important. There are more of those moments to come and every series by her is full of these.
Anyway, ACOTAR has had 5 books (4 novels, one novella) and this comparison to Nuan is among one of the more specific pieces of the “who and what is Amren” puzzle we get. We’ll get to it, but we’ve got a mountain the size of Ramiel to dig through first.
Back to the Dawn Court scene: Being his usual discriminatory self, Beron aka the High Lord of Autumn is suspicious of Nuan’s miracle cure for faebane for because he's an asshole and a xenaphobe — we’ll come back to this. But she counters with her own commitment to protecting the fae from being poisoned and powerless. Go Nuan! It also seems like she's a very dedicated scientist, but that behind this science there is also magic. Makes sense when you consider the whole magical appendages gig she has!
Nuan monologues about the Mother aka higher power/god/[insert mystical lore here] situation who is suspect #1 in the whole “what are the gods?” conversation. The gods, etc. are known lore — which exists in different forms ACOTAR, TOG, and CC — and they're complicated enough to warrant their own massive post.
Anyway, Nuan explains that the Mother provides “everything we need on this earth.” Nuan simply needed to find what the Mother has provided Prythian to stop Hybern from “wiping out” their powers. Considering she applied this logic and it worked… seems legit... and important?
So yes, the way she phrased her scientific method struck me... and left me with so many more questions than I started with. Like what did you use and how did you do it and where did you find it??? What do you mean this earth?! I could keep going!!!!
However, her antidote can’t protect fae entirely because physical objects made from faebane will still have dangerous effects. Sounds like her compound is able to… dare I say… break the curse or spell of faebane? But if the physical object that makes fae vulnerable comes barreling at them… well that’s a whole different story. Kind of like how from the first scene I mentioned: Feyre could break the wards and the spell silencing her mating bond with Rhys, but she still couldn’t feel any of the physical effects of the bond with Hybern’s spell shutting her down.
Nuan, it seems, not only has Day Court-like powers as a person whose family isn’t from Prythian, or the Solar Courts, she can transform magic/power into physical objects - magical mechanical body parts and medicines, for ex. Kind of like less spooky Nesta sword versions of Made objects?
But this is apt considering she’s not just a tinkerer (a word that will always make me lol), but Thesan introduces her as an alchemist.
Let's talk about alchemy, baby
So let’s take an unplanned detour off the cliff of what tf is alchemy? VERY COMPLICATED is what it is! You may wonder where the heck are I'm going with this... patience my friend. Possibly somewhere... maybe nowhere... idk. Look, I said this would be long.
I promise we'll delve into actual historical contexts, but I'm gonna be real with you... I'm not a scholar, or a philosopher, or an archaeologist, or a theologian, or a chemist, or an anthropologist. I took courses on these subjects, but I just enjoy learning about this stuff/consuming content about it. Alchemy is very mysterious, very "lost to time," so it's hard to get it right. And just to keep it 100... my deepest and longest exposure to alchemy comes from a beloved manga and anime series. If you're like... "yup, absolutely not." Skip the rest of this post if you'd like... or skip ahead. To both fandoms... I'm so sorry for what I'm about to do. lol.
Alright, raise your hand if you too love the manga and anime series Full Metal Alchemist… If you’re not raising your hand, I highly recommend giving it a whirl. And maybe don't ruin it by reading any of this. If you think Kingdom of Ash has insane world building culminations and… pain... yeah FMA has that and emotional pain I’ve never healed from. *sobs* 10/10
Much like SJM and her use of universal mystical concepts and traditions, FMA also references much of the real history of alchemy and, by association, incredibly complex mystic religious principles. And what would ya know? Turns out FMA is a super helpful tool to explain/understand this very difficult subject.
So let’s take a quick look at the main character in FMA…

That’s Edward. He’s a rascal. He’s also an incredible alchemist who’s able to transmute — woefully basic explanation: turn objects from their original form into something else through the law of equal exchange — without a transmutation circle. That's a rarity among even the greatest alchemists. Because he can do this, at age 12, he becomes the youngest State Alchemist (he works for the government begrudgingly). Though, in the image above, that's Ed with a transmutation circle and hm... is that a star shaped rune? I digress.
You might ask... where is there an instance of a "law of equal exchange" in SJM's worlds? It might not be a perfect parallel, but... there's definitely something going on with give and take regarding magic. And that has major implications re: how much magic each world has (and how much the Asteri need to consume/wreck worlds for). I'm a broken record but... that perhaps will be its own post one day.
When Nuan talks about the Mother providing what that world needs... I feel like we're touching on something here. And as an alchemist, her work would be centered around this law of balance. Of course, we get absolutely no details from SJM.
But let's look at something we've encountered a bit more, like the Great Rite. Note: not my favorite magic tradition in these worlds... But it keeps coming up, especially where characters with mysterious pasts are concerned.
I've also made a post tying it in with Hunt from Crescent City and... idk... once I saw it, I can't unsee it.
First off, Lucien shakes off shadow hands multiple times talking about the Great Rite... please take note of that for a point below.
But we get reference of a tradition that must occur every year for their magic's cosmic "give-and-take." Sounds equal exchange-like.
High Lord becomes the Hunter (Hunt... is that you?) who needs to find the Maiden (Bryce is this what you guys are doing?) selected by the magic. Then they "couple" *sigh* and generate magic that's released back to the earth and all is well and magical for the coming year. Sure.
The Maiden has come up countless time in the references to the triunity or triple goddesses throughout ACOTAR, CC, and TOG (Also long and complicated - I am 100% doing a post on this). Short version: the triple goddess = mother, maiden, and the crone. Three-faced goddess. All the moon goddesses implicated. Witches and their goddesses... Persephone-like characters... etc. etc. etc. I'll get into it another time... this is my super bowl. But the Maiden has everything to do with the Mother and vice-versa, just as Nuan pointed out in her assessment of balance and magic within this world.
Outside of the Great Rite's Hunter and the Maiden ritual, Lucien says the rest of court takes a part in the night, "though it’s not the Great Rite, our own dalliances tonight will help the land, too" (ACOTAR, Chapter 21). Energy spent becomes energy reaped... even if they don't get the ritualistic title. Is this reminding you of science class and the first law of thermal dynamics: energy can't be created or destroyed it can only be transformed? It should.
It's notable that every Court has a Great Rite they must comply with to power the magic of the land, though we're only familiar with the Spring Court's Calanmai tradition. But in ACOSF, Gwyn mentions multiple times that when females "come of age" they can, and seem to be expected to, participate in the Rite. And we all know rituals with titles and milestones have never gone wrong for anyone... *stares in Crescent City* (The Drop). But also, we're seeing instances in both CC and ACOTAR where magic is waning... like the balance is off. Rhys tells Feyre that Starfall souls are less plentiful and well... we know the Asteri are over indulging in first light. Essentially, exchanges are not equal and there are traditions in place to keep them that way! What's changing? What does this mean?
The TikToker ahappyhermit posted her first podcast episode about Starfall and the dwindling souls and it's awesome. She's also got a lovely reading voice!
Back to FMA, transmutation boiled down also feels suspiciously similar to Aelin and co. drawing their wyrdmarks... something many SJM theories speculate will make a big return come CC3/ACOTAR5.
Alchemists even wear objects (clothes? yup! prosthesis? yup! fake eyes... eye patches? yup!) or have tattoos (Aelin and Bryce's world walking tats? TOG witches w/ the Eye of the Goddess tats?) with transmutation runes to help them attempt to do what Ed can do — transmute without crouching down and drawing out a rune.
In an attempt to try and spare you the full rundown of the science and magic of both alchemy and the world of FMA... there's gonna be metric tons of nuance I'm leaving out. The FMA fandom are effectively scholars at this point and I just want you ALL to know I know I'm watering some of this down.

Why can Ed transmute without a circle? It's really complicated, and important, but I'll do my best to summarize. First, it helps that, like Nuan, he has a metal arm - in FMA it's called automail, it's as complex as we've come to know Nuan's work is (albeit a little less magical), and basically he can do science faster/easier with it (I'm so sorry this would simply take too long to explain). And because *giant and complete FMA spoiler alerts across the board - like seriously I'm going to discuss all of the big reveals* he does some majorly taboo alchemy — resurrection of human life — that takes his leg and arm (and his brother's entire body, but not his soul leaving him as animated armor). Performing the taboo human transmutation opens a portal to the Gate of Truth. It opens, revealing a dimension of information which manifests as a shadowy void with several shadow-like hands coming out of it and a single large eye within. And this isn't just pure FMA canon, it draws inspiration from the lore of the Tree of Life.
Shadowy hands and something with a big eye watching you in a knowledge void? Hm... Let us turn to Nesta spiraling out and falling down the House of Wind steps and into her Making memories from the Cauldron. This does not include the MANY times characters, from multiple worlds, mention feeling shadowy hands (*wink* Dorian), but we saw examples with Lucien above.
The Cauldron kind of sounds like a big eye in a shadowy void that is perhaps a different dimension stacked with information, huh?
And what happens after Nesta's spiral? She comes to and realizes she's sparked and embedded her hand, and then handprint, in stone... which is also glowing.
Did anyone else find this moment/detail weird when they were reading? Cassian found it super weird!
Back to Edward, at the Gate of Truth, he meets a god, Truth. It's a whole thing. Insanely long story short, by reaching the Gate, Edward sees into the void that holds the truth of the universe. This allows him to bypasses the need to draw runes and instead channels the energy of alchemy/all the nature bending stuff he does by his own will.
Effectively, Ed seeing beyond the Gate allows him to break the rules of nature and freely wield a "different magic".
Interesting, because what Nesta has taken from the Cauldron seems to allow her to bypass the natural order of things too. No markings or weapons needed.
Throughout the series some (Illyrians) call Nesta a witch and refer to her different, powerful magic as unnatural. In fact, even the other magical beings of Prythian do not get her magic.
Hypothetically, and just pretend with me, Nesta could (she gave it back) do a kind of alchemy without the limits of nature/the laws of Prythian because she she took too much from the Cauldron/void of truth... it stands to reason that, much like using the wyrdmarks in TOG, that alchemists like Nuan are tapping into something totally different magic-wise. Like most High Fae have some magical capabilities, but the High Lords are usually the ones with the more robust skillset. Alchemy might be this secret link to why characters — multiple groups of high skilled/non royal fae/even humans in TOG — can display huge power... as well as create objects with incredible abilities like arms and eyes... and... Prythian iPods?
Helion might not have tinkerers like Thesan, but he does have piles of libraries and scholars... oh ya you can be I will be doing a post just on libraries.
Anyway so we've got some suspicious powers around, suspicious magic objects created for other purposes originally, and magical objects like body parts and medicinal powders. We've got multiple instances across worlds that implicate magic and cosmic balance... specifically that balance being off now.
Especially with magic being targeted (First and Second Light in HSOAB) as a deity food source - I think correcting the broken state of magic with alchemy could very well become... something. And I explain below an instance we already have seen where non-magical magic does just this in the SJM multiverse.
But in the next part of this theory spiral this connects (perhaps!) to Nesta and the Cauldron/Gate of Truth concept I outlined. Specifically, alchemists who see it and come back have taken too much from it. It comes at a great personal cost, but they have superior nature-bending abilities. The "great personal cost" thing is a TOG quote... just btw. Spoiler alert: witch mirrors
Ok, I promise just a few more comps using FMA and we'll move this train right along...
Finally, in FMA and alchemy seven is also big number and I get into some other instances in the real history below. There are seven Homunculi, beings with tremendous power who have their own agenda with a much bigger scope than what's happening on this sole planet/realm. And actually, there's a secret eighth Homunculus that's been hiding in plain sight for the whole show (like a secret 8th court?)... and ends up being the creator of the other homunculi... as well as being Ed & Al's dad (like said secret court being an origin point for all our favorite fae?). What is a homunculus? It refers to the medieval legendary concept of a being Made and brought into existence by certain means of alchemy and it requires the Philosopher's Stone (too complicated to even get into, but it comes up again in my Pt. II post). Also fun fact: in FMA, Homunculi all carry the mark of the Ouroboros... like that (witch) mirror in ACOTAR that people have been mighty suspicious of.
The Homunculi are aptly named after the seven deadly sins - pride, envy, lust, wrath, greed, sloth, and gluttony. Makes you think... Asteri are pretty gluttonous... Valg? Princes of the Pit? Angels? Scions? Some High Lords? Nesta? IDK?! Anyway, the Homunculi begin as villains and some change their allegiance along the way. But not all not all of them are inherently evil. Despite looking like the human characters/beings in FMA, "Homunculi are still aberrations of nature created by violating the laws of the natural universe, and as such, have no souls." It's complicated, but they're incapable of accessing the Gate of Truth or regular alchemic (read: magic) powers, because they lack souls. Some weird Valgy/TOG god/Asteri/can't get through a damn portal parallels, no?
Ok, that was still SO long, and I'm just gonna leave these many kernels of thought I have failed to really wrap up here... whilst staring into my own void... and catalog of all the characters and beings we've run into described as something else or Made or bred. I will spare you from the whole chimera conversation... FOR NOW... but I'm looking at all of the spooky murder pets our heroes have fought off... and truly every Asteri "experiment" being. Just know that.
Has Sarah watched this show? Dude, I don't know. But I do know that we both entered the world of fantasy via Sailor Moon. According to this post she even wrote wildly popular Sailor Moon fanfiction. So she has watched and loved at least one anime. FMA is wildly popular, has a rich fantasy plot that's a masterclass in world building with brilliantly researched foundations in global mystical traditions, and it's penned by a woman! So, no, I'm not 100% convinced she hasn't.
So, is alchemy real? Kind of...
OK, I swear I'll focus now. So alchemy! There was a time when people believed it was real (from the ancient past to Isaac Newton who wrote a lot about alchemy and very real science). The way I have come to understand it, alchemy exists within the crossroads of science and mythology. It's even been considered a kind of witchcraft or spellwork. However, alchemy did either lead to, or exist along side, many important scientific laws and discoveries we still hold as truths/are taught today.
So... witchcraft, eh? We've had allusions to witches in ACOTAR, but we seem to be lacking the noted presence of such beings like we've seen in CC and TOG (though we still don't fully understand their powers across the board)... unless they're hiding in plain sight dressed as something else?
Interesting... no? I am far from the first to suggest the Made Archerons are witches (and Pt. II will have more witch talk and citations to great theory posts I didn't write). But hey, they could be alchemists too...
We know from Nesta's perspective in ACOSF that she absolutely took more than she should have from the Cauldron and she is using/making tools (read: swords) right and left. Plus, Mor's description sounds suspiciously like alchemy that's... gone rogue or without equal exchange. Also, more simply, everyone calls Nesta a witch (specifically the Illyrians) and she's cool with it. But that's could be because she revels in being scary and we love her for it.
Alchemy as word reveals much about it. Like most terms that have an "al" to start (algebra, algorithm, alfalfa, alcohol, almanac...) is an Arabic syllable for “the,” and we see it show up in the language of math and science.
"Alchemy was rooted in a complex spiritual worldview in which everything around us contains a sort of universal spirit, and metals were believed not only to be alive but also to grow inside the Earth... Historian Nevill Drury, in his book "Magic and Witchcraft," notes that, "The word alchemy is thought to derive from an Egyptian word, 'chem' or 'qem,' meaning black — a reference to the black alluvial soils bordering the Nile ... We know that the Greek word 'chyma,' meaning to fuse or cast metals, established itself in Arabic as 'al kimia' — from which alchemy is derived." Live Science
"Alchemists attempted to purify, mature, and perfect certain materials. Common aims were chrysopoeia, the transmutation of "base metals" (e.g., lead) into "noble metals" (particularly gold); the creation of an elixir of immortality... The perfection of the human body and soul was thought to result from the alchemical magnum opus ("Great Work"). The concept of creating the philosophers' stone was variously connected with all of these projects." Wikipedia
There's a lot going on there, but we're speeding right along. You can ask questions at the end of class. No, seriously ask them because I'm probably not gonna dig that deep here.
Alchemy has roots in many different ancient places and sprung up independently of one another.
"[There were] at least three major strands, which appear to be mostly independent, at least in their earlier stages: Chinese alchemy, centered in China; Indian alchemy, centered on the Indian subcontinent; and Western alchemy, which occurred around the Mediterranean and whose center has shifted over the millennia from Greco-Roman Egypt to the Islamic world, and finally medieval Europe." Wikipedia
As it turns out, Sarah and alchemy have a lot in common — they love mixing a matching the myth of many places into one magical tangle. There's a lot to unpack there and I wont get to all of it here... but I will try to eventually. One thing I will definitely touch on in another post is alchemy's connection to the God Hermes who keeps coming up in my research — he has many powers, but notably he's a world walker.
So from the quote above I'm gonna dive into connections with what we know about elemental fae magic, then we get back to Nuan and Alchemy's far reaching geographic history, and how that brings us to major questions marks around Helion and Thesan and their Courts.
Elemental Fae Magic vs Alchemy
So we don't know everything about elemental fae magic across worlds, but from the recent books and leading plots... we get a ton of focus on weapons (swords) being the biggest world connections (CC 3), Nesta forging narban blades, and Rhys explaining finally what this world is and what magic/fae used to be like.
Something new, eh? Something different?
As the LiveScience quote above points out, alchemy is magical, scientific, but it's also deeply connected to the Earth and laws of the universe. So elements play a big role and, you guessed it, we get the number 7 again (if you don't get why I keep referencing 7 I encourage you to take note every time the number 7 comes up in TOG, ACOTAR, CC because it's near constant):
"The elemental system used in medieval alchemy... consisted of seven elements, which included the five classical elements (aether, air, earth, fire, and water) in addition to two chemical elements representing the metals." Wikipedia
If you're unfamiliar with the concept of aether, here's an incredibly rushed explanation that's still somehow too long:
Aether has roots dating back to ancient Greece and means, "in Homeric Greek, 'pure, fresh air' or 'clear sky'. In Greek mythology, it was thought to be the pure essence that the gods breathed, filling the space where they lived, analogous to the air breathed by mortals. It is also personified as a deity, Aether, who is at times relates to Chronus, Erebus, Nyx, Chaos and Hemera (this is its own post) in traditional Greek mythology. Aether is related to αἴθω 'to incinerate', and intransitive 'to burn, to shine'."
Traditionally there are 4 elements - air, earth, fire, water. But in the Medieval Age (read: alchemy time), scientists concluded there was a 5th element. Aether was considered the material that fills the region of the universe beyond the terrestrial sphere. Unlike the four terrestrial elements that were subject to change and moved linearly, aether was a celestial element that moved circularly and had none of the qualities the terrestrial classical elements. Aether also is tied in quite often with light. And this is significant because light is notably how scientists (have — some theories since disproven — and currently do) measure distance and travel within space.
I find aether particularly interesting because, within the SJM multiverse, we have seen magic wielders display powers that would fall within the terrestrial elements (ex. Autumn Court's fire powers, Rowan's/Whitehorns' wind powers, House of Many Waters & Aelin's mom's water powers, etc.). But then we have these outliers whose powers work a little differently... perhaps more powerfully... specifically when we're talking about light and shadow. And with the allusions to burning, shining, and breath... we've got a lot of interesting Starborn connections. Also... travel within non-terrestrial spaces??? Come on now!
Back to Elemental Fae
In the ACOSF passage above, Rhys explains that Prythian Fae magic used to be more elemental — like the elements above. He also says their kind of magic could forge great weapons, just like Nesta who creates her narban blades... and a reminder that there are the 5 discussed elements and also 2 metals (we wont get into specifics here, but just... metals ok?) to create the 7 alchemic elements.
Tons here to analyze but take a look at TikToker chemicalrosie killing it on the analysis of elemental fae magic, weapons, and connections across the SJM worlds. She does most of the heavy lifting on this point (thanks Rosie).
In Crescent City we get more hints of elemental fae magic. In fact the Houses themselves seemingly represent these elements: House of Sky and Breath (aether? Also potentially air?), House of Earth and Blood (earth), House of Many Waters (water), House of Flame and Shadow (fire... also aether?). Under the House of Sky and Breath there are even beings called "Elementals," though we don't exactly know what an elemental is yet because their mentions are limited. Am I screaming "alchemists" into the void? Sure am. If they were elemental fae... wouldn't they just be called fae??? We do know they belong in the same House as angels, fae, and those blessed by major gods (which we know can give a magical or non magical being gifts of varying levels from TOG).
We also get mention of an Elemental War, which Lehaba mentions a distant relative sprite being involved in. Though that is sort of the extent of what we know about it (unless I'm wrong and feel free to tell me I'm wrong always).
We also get another depiction of elemental fae magic forging a weapon (refer back to that TikTok above if you want to delve into who this is and what it depicts in the multiverse).
So we're not gonna get too much deeper into elemental fae magic (tho let me know if you want further digging on this because my unhinged brain knows no bounds), but let me sketch my overarching point with this.
We have multiple points of reference within the SJM Multiverse where elemental magic and its noted difference to starborn/aether-like magic is being woven into this bigger world-spanning plot. Obviously, I referenced CC and ACOTAR here, but I could have dumped a ton of TOG references in here too (and will... later!).
We also have a multiverse with magic that seems... out of balance. We do not not know why all of these element-related mentions have been baked into the plot here and there. What was the Elemental War and why are magic abilities so different among Fae at the very least — and why are they different than they were before?
We also have metal/Made/superior substance swords linking our multiverse and being forged despite that not happening in a very long time. But now that Nesta has relinquished her stolen power back to the Cauldron... and we've got a world walker stuck in Prythian who may want to leave with one more sword than she landed with... seems like special weapon forging might be a useful skill. If only there was someone who could make magical metal objects without the powers of some spooky void or magical land decree...
Oh wait... we do have that person. And perhaps she also has a whole team of alchemists like her.
That's right folks... the last part... of this first part...
Back to Nuan and Other Faerie Realms
Oh my god this is so long. If you're still reading... I think we're officially betrothed? Idk. I love you.
Ok, so Nuan is described to us as so unique looking (look, I am not saying this is a great moment from SJM) she can only compare her to Amren... a [we have no idea but lots of speculation] being from another world.
Then we get a stark moment of xenophobia from Beron during the Dawn Court-High Lords meeting... because Nuan's parents are from a Fae realm called Xian. Xian is a faerie territory located somewhere in the Continent (I will speculate a ton below) that notably supported the loyalists during the war that resulted in the wall between the mortal lands and the fae realm. That means Xian was pro human slavery and that they ultimately lost. Nuan follows this up by reminding High Lord Asshat that she is as Prythian as his sons (let's go girl).
Beron's outburst also causes Thesan to jump to her defense because (that's his girl) his mom was from Xian... actually the majority of his court is from Xian?
ALRIGHTY THEN! Where to start?
So first off, just extrapolating from what we get in this exchange re: Xian... a place like most places SJM has not explained at all to us in that we know almost nada about it. If Xian supported the loyalists... and then they lost... and then a bunch of fae relocated to the Dawn Court in search of "a better life," we might (read: I do) assume that this was a territory south of the wall. Faeries, after the war, were not allowed to stay in the southern part of the continent.
Why do I find this interesting? Why have I spent 800 years getting to this point about an alchemist from Xian? Why do I even think alchemy is worth spending this much time thinking about when this is the only time we encounter it in ACOTAR?
Well, because it's not the only time we encounter it in the SJM multiverse.
So, in TOG, there are alchemists on the Southern continent who provide really important firelances to Aelin & co.'s fight against the Valg. A magical, very effective weapon that non-magical beings can use... and it's so impressive Aelin is relieved that her waning fire magic will be supported by such... firepower.
You know what else conveniently pops on the Southern continent in TOG? Healers and their Torre Cesme... Yrene Towers ilu. Isn't it just so coincidental that the Dawn Court's powers just so happen to be healing powers? And that in the TOG world there's an entire Fae healer community that relocated to the Southern Continent, bred healing powers into the mortal population, and then just... disappears? And also like are dead in crypts that are unbreakable for Valg related reasons, but I digress.
And something else that's fun is that Thesan and Nuan aren't even the only characters in that scene to get a cryptic allusion to a familiar sounding Southern continent that is notably... not one we've met via ACOTAR.
When Feyre describes Helion (it always comes back to him doesn't it?) in, yes, that meeting of the High Lords at the Dawn Court... I swear to all these freaking gods I didn't plan this! Anyway, she "all the sudden for some weird reason" starts thinking about a place her dad (feeling like I have to do a deep dive on Papa Archeron because the more I research not looking for him the more he pops up) visited as a merchant — south-eastern kingdom that sounds suspiciously Antica from Tower of Dawn. And we know when she thinks fondly of her father's merchant days she also always brings up spices... so there's that. (worth noting that this scene with Helion is BIG in my pt. 2 post)
So, obviously we get allusions to actual empires/places within these "different realms" in the SJM multiverse. Xi'an is the name of a real province in China (and has gifted the world so much food-wise and i'm sure countless other ways but I wont rest until I have cuminy lamby noodles asap) and the Khagnate/Southern Continent of the TOG world draws inspiration from the Mongol Empire (how I feel about SJM's... useage of these empires is it's own separate convo). It also includes a lot of the territories where alchemy sprung up independently and thrived that I mentioned before.
Sadly I'm out of images I can post (holy crap), so just... google it
Cool so we've got a lot of relevant territories covered here re: their SJM multiverse parallel.
Obviously Amren is the mystery that keeps giving and tons of people have their theories about her... and I guess SJM at one point said she's some kind of archangel... personally? IDK! Do I think it's strange, in my untangling of this curious maybe from another world territory population, that Amren... a being we know is from another world chose a Xian fae body? Yup! Especially because the southern continent, as we learn in Tower of Dawn from the Stygian Spyders (her handmaidens... which is what I thought Amren could have been, but that's not my theory battle I choose to fight) that there was a big ol' door/portal/whatever that Maeve walked herself and clique through. Hm...
Also, let us not forget when Nuan casually mentioned in her alchemic practice that the "Mother provides everything [they] need on this earth." What does she know that we doooon't?
And while I know I've wanted more, more of the other solar courts — I think perhaps they've been held back because they'll play an integral role in whatever happens next. I mean in addition to everything else Thesan's got a population of winged beings that sound suspiciously like Midgard's angels and Helion's got the only flying horsies (and libraries... I cannot stress how preoccupied I am with libraries in these worlds).
Re: Dawn Court... light-filled healers in TOG (specifically Yrene) play an essential role when it comes to the Valg (who we're not 100% are also the Asteri or Daglan, but let's say they're in the same fam). Yrene can "cure" the people the Valg infect and *the biggest of TOG spoilers* she kills the big bad Valg with her powers. But before she does that... Erawan (which will always just remind me of the fancy shmancy grocery store) wants to capture her and says her powers/what she can do goes far beyond what she understands... and... at the end of the day... us too... SARAH!!!
I will be doing a verrrry deep dive into TOG-world healers because every single page I read describing... like anything about them was making my SJM insanity senses tingle. We haven't spent a lot of time with Thesan and his powers, but we know Feyre's blood can heal others so... curious to see where that one leads.
But the other thing we've got in TOG is a lot of people of varying... let's call them heritages having varied power abilities... and even humans being able to use magic (like wyrdmarks). They've also got a god city and scions and I simply cannot spend anymore time going on tangents here, but know I only have more questions... no answers... help.
OMG we made it. To recap we've got: connections to other faerie realms (whether in ACOTAR or the multiverse which would implicate some world walking), we've got alchemists/alchemy, we've got healers, we've got two light wielding courts with some magic overlap and, and at the very least, magic irregularities. We've got gods all over the place. We've got... so many questions... but hopefully some thought provoking parallels!
If I had to make my very bold "conclusion" to whatever hellscape of a hypothesis this is it's that I do believe the Dawn Court and the Day Court have some mix and matching travel/world walking situations with the southern continent in TOG and ditto for that relationship regarding more elemental fae and Midgard. And with alchemy (that I really hope either exists in this world, manifests as just witches like babes I'll take it) acting as the connecting thread between the power balances of the worlds... idk I think we're gonna get some answers there. And I think perhaps they'll be very important to connecting the worlds.
Mostly... this is my plea to SJM to bring back Nuan! Tell us about the other glowing boys (Thesan & Helion).
Seriously, if you read any of this... thank you and just know I'm sending you a little virtual kiss. Ok, let's both go touch some grass now.
Pt. II is mostly written and coming to a tumblr near you soon.

Wolves
Pairing: Kaeya x fem!Reader, Diluc, Crepus
Warning: minor swearing, cheesy flirt, dry humour
Summary: All men are wolves.
A/N: Muahaha I have came back and brought you the blatant cheesy flirt. Welcome to the first lesson of flirting with Kaeya. Lol, guess who is coming next?
Also, I’m planning to write a wind-trace fic because the game is so fun. (p/s: I waste 3 hours playing it) Guess who is in it?
Okay, the first fic for my lover boy. Please give Kaeya a lot of love!! (* ̄3 ̄)╭
Another beautiful day, another day of wasting the lovely weather to stay inside the study room, bury your head into the pile of books next to you. You let your eyes wander to the window again, gazing rays of light fleeting through the window, golden hues on the wooden floor. Tiny specks of dust accumulate overnight, fluttering around the curtain. Outside, the chirping birds bathing under the sun, casually chilling on the window. Oh, how you wish you would be able to relax like those carefree animals.
“You might burn the birds crips the longer you stare at it.” Startled by the quiet voice, your head snaps toward the blue-haired teenage direction, and you can’t help but scowl at his statement. You can’t be the only person in the room who wants to go out and play. Knowing Kaeya, he’s definitely trying to find an excuse to end the class early.
The only person who is diligent, hard-working, and does not have thought about leaving this room is the young master Diluc. The young man is sitting opposite you, eyes burning holes on the thick textbook.
Archon, how can a 16 years old overly enthusiastic person like him enjoy the excitement of reading Descartes philosophy? Maybe he is the only child in Mondstadt, no, maybe in the whole Teyvat who enjoys something torturous like that. Shivering at your own thought, you shift your chair closer to Kaeya, giving Diluc a terror gaze.
“Aren’t you going to finish the essay?” Pointing at the half-full parchment on the table, you ask. “ Diluc and I already finish it.”
“ Oh, how do I know? How am I suppose to understand Kant and Descartes theories, and then link them to deductive and inductive reasoning?" Kaeya lets his finger running through the silky blue hair and pulls them out of frustration. On the other side, Diluc shoots him a glare, annoyed by his brother complaint.
“How did you guys do it?” Kaeya asks boredly, his finger pokes the quill.
You put your hand under your chin, beaming him charmingly. “ You know Kaeya, it is something I call improvisation. Words just flow out of my tip.” Under your lashes, you can see his cheek dusting pink. Cute!
“ Just read the books, and you will get it.” Diluc unhelpful adds.
Both of you stare at red-head incredulously. Is he being serious?
Like always, Kaeya knows he can not take your advice to heart. One is a genius, and the other is just pure luck.
Suddenly, the door is burst open, and you quickly shove your feet into the shoes, eyes darting to see the intruder. Internally, you hope that person is not lady Elizabeth, your etiquette teacher. Your blood runs cold at the thought. You can already imagine her sharp tones commenting how horrendous and un-ladylike your act is.
“How is your study going?” A deep, strong voice booming from the back, and finally, you get let out a breath. Diluc looks up from his book, beams brightly at the man.
“ We are done with homework, father. These are just extra reading.” Well, for the record, these are his extra readings, not yours. And Kaeya hasn’t finished his 2 feet scrolls of essay yet.
Master Crepus nods in satisfaction. “ If that is finished, you kids can take a break. The young lady from the Gunnhildr family is here with her father. Maybe you can give her some accompanies.” The middle-aged man directs the words at you, maybe feeling guilty for leaving a young lady like you in his two sons care.
Your parents left you in the Ragnvindr care every Summer because of their hectic schedules and frequent business trips at this time of the year. In addition, your mother says it is essential for you to have good relationships with the heir of Ragnvindr and his brother. “Maybe you will need their help someday.” She left it vaguely.
“ Are you guys going to drink again?” Kaeya suspiciously questions, his eyes glinting with playfulness.
“ Hey, what’s wrong with men having a drink together?” Crepus defensively retorts, notices how Diluc gives him a disproving gaze.
“ When you guys grow up, you would enjoy it too.” The three let out opposing noises, clearly not having the same idea as him. The man waves dismissively return back the topic.
“ Let’s come down to greet the head of Gunnhildr first.” He heads toward the door, down the hallway.
“And be nice to the young lady, boys.” The master emphasizes the phrase, his eyes pinning at the guilty-looking Kaeya and the absent-minded Diluc. Finally, he exits the room, not forgetting to close the door.
“ Father says as if we don’t treat people nicely.” Kaeya pouts, right after Crepus footstep drifting away from the study. “ The workers never complain anything about our behaviours, right Luc?”
Sitting next to him, you can't help but let out a snort. He dares to say that? Kaeya raises eyebrows at you, annoyed by your shaking shoulder. The boy in red has a blank face, maybe not interested.
“ First, you guys ignore me for 2 weeks when I just came here.” You burst out in laughter, recalling back at the very first memory when you just arrived here.
“When I tried to approach, you both avoided me like the plague.” Your whole body is shaking vigorously, tears forming at the corners of your eyes. This is too hilarious! Somewhere in between, you can spot Diluc burning cheek.
“ Haha, and haha-later,” You can hardly breath, laughter bubbling up. “Adeline told me your reason is ‘It's b-because she doesn’t have a willie.' ” Dramatically air-quoting, you even imitate their stuttering childish voices. This earns you a pointed glare from Diluc and a smack in the arm from Kaeya, but a good laugh is always worth it.
Both of them freeze on their tracks, faces puff red as tomatoes, steaming almost coming off their ears. If the young heir is to wear a red suit, you are sure he can blend in well with the mansion roof.
Diluc shifts stiffly in his chair and abruptly stands up, heading toward the exit. Maybe he is too embarrassed at the mention of his dark childhood.
“Where-haha, are you going, Luc?” You are still in the middle of your giggling, noticing how Diluc is dashing to the door. Letting out a coughing fit, he quietly mumbles.
“ I'm going down to greet the Gunnhildr family.” His figure vanishes right behind the door, not letting you tease him further. Outside, the painful sound of Diluc tripping on his own feet make you almost fall off your chair. You have too many good laughs today.
“Right, I-I should get going too.” Next to you, the blazing Kaeya remembers to dig a hole and hide. His hand slams hard on the table and the youthful teenager stands up, gracefully heading toward the door. Maybe he wants to avoid becoming another joke.
" Ah, wait-" You follow instantly, but the moment you stand up, something slips, and the next thing you know, the ground is shaking, and you see the ceiling is getting further.
Your first instinct is to grab the closest object, and then close your eyes, waiting for the painful impact with your head. Clench your jaw tightly, and you hold your breath, hoping it will hurt less if you tense your body.
Right after tensing up, you feel someone just grab you by your shoulder, and your feet step on something bumpy. And then, your head makes an impact with something hard. A grunting is followed.
Heart hammering in your chest, you cautiously peek, expecting yourself to see the ceiling, but instead, greet with an unusual sight. A pair of dark colour trouser paired with leather shoes. On top of it is your feet, loosely wore low heel is stepping on that leather shoes. Shit, you stepped on Kaeya. In a panic, you rush down from his painful sore feet, but your head jams in his ribs. He just let out another woeful sound.
This time, you carefully keep your position in place, slowly remove each foot one by one, moving away from him. Craning your neck upward, you finally meet his gaze, his eyes are full of concern and uneasiness, spooked out by your sudden incident.
“Did you hit your head hard?” Kaeya asks you nervously, his voice laced with anxiety. He must have been terrified when you slip. You shake your head, hands grabbing his shirt.
" I should be asking you that. Are you okay?" You give him a worrying gaze, your fingers running along his ribs, checking if your stone head broke anything. " I didn't break anything, right?" Hesitantly, you look into his deep blue eyes, noticing the diamond shape. Has he always has this in his eyes?
Kaeya snorts inelegantly, shakes his head. " Your head is hard as a rock, but that much can't break my ribs yet." This earns him a hit on his arm.
"Hey! I'm trying to be considerate, and this is how you treat me?" You jab him, hand purposely smack his chest, but he doesn't budge an inch. How strong is this guy? This time, you put all the force on your arm, slapping hard on his chest again. The young man in the blues shoot you a shit-eating grin, clearly not faze.
"How is my chest feeling?" He pokes, his palm engulfing yours.
" Too hard for my liking." You give him a complex look, trying to escape from his tight grip but fail miserably. You wiggle your hand again, shaking off his iron clad. Why is he so strong?
While you are attempting to flee from his firm grasp, the young man leans down, face an inch away from you. Flushing at the sudden closure, like usual, you avoid his burning gaze. You hold your breath when your noses almost touch. What is this rascal doing again?
" You shouldn't be touching men like that." Kaeya opens his mouth, saying something completely out of nowhere. You tilt your head in confusion, while your eyes travel down, you notice your hands still on his chest. O-oh, so he is saying about this.
" I don't normally touch random people." You mumble defensively, your eyes lower. " I was checking for your injury."
"They will misunderstand." Kaeya cuts in right after, not accepting the excuse. But why would they misunderstand? You are just being nice, right?
Like he can understand what is going inside your mind, Kaeya reminds you.
"All men are wolves, you should be more be careful with them."
You give him a confusing look.

Eventually, he let out a soft sigh and moves back, allowing you to savour your personal space. Just right after your throbbing heart finally calms down, he brings your tight-griped hand in his to his face. Your meet with his alluring look in his eyes. It is pulling you in, telling you to give in the temptation. Plump lips brush your knuckle teasingly, he blows a warm breath on the back of your hand. He gives you a saccharine smile.
" And if not be careful." His husky voice ringing in your ears, the numbing spark runs along your spine. "They might devour you."
