Proving It (Part One)
Based on this request:Â âLoki x fem reader where she's the firstborn of Hades, and she's the Goddess of Bloodlust? Maybe they all underestimate her, but when they're in a tight spot, she gets all cocky and shows them exactly how she got her title?
masterlist / part two
Loki tries not to lose his temper as he walks through the halls of the Avengers complex. Technically, he shouldnât have to be here at all; itâs his off day, and he should be free to do whatever he wants, which usually includes finding a place without Tony Stark or any number of the other Avengers, and staying there until heâs bored or is forced to leave.Â
Instead, Loki is striding briskly through the narrow corridors beside Tony, only half listening as the man gives him an update on the scant few things that have changed since Loki was here last, which was yesterday. Loki is not entirely sure what was deemed so important that he had to come in that instant until Tony gets to his final note, which is the latest addition to the Avengers team.Â
Loki has held the title of Avengers newcomer for quite some time now, an honor he finds rather amusing. How is it that all of these other mortals can call him inexperienced at their job when heâs been alive for centuries longer than their grandfatherâs grandfathers? Heâd been taking lives far before S.H.I.E.L.D. was founded, even before New York was more than a settlerâs dream. How then could he be less adept at missions than some of the others, who barely started at all this a few years ago? Thatâs practically a blink in the eye for a god such as himself.Â
Needless to say, Loki doesnât entirely mind that someone new has joined the ranks of the Avengers. Perhaps now the others can stop eyeing Loki like heâs an explosion about to go off in their faces, or perhaps that will never go away, no matter how many fighters join the team. Thereâs no way for sure of guessing until it happens.Â
Tony pulls a crisply folded report out of his folder and snaps it open with a flourish, mouth souring slightly as he begins to read. âYou might like our latest recruit, actually. You and Thor are no longer the only gods.â This, more than rumors that he wonât be the black sheep any more, piques Lokiâs interest. âWere not? Whoâd you get, Sif?â That canât be right, sheâd never deign to stay with mortals, not like Loki and his brother have. Sometimes it surprises even himself.Â
Tony makes a face. âSheâs not one of yours, Odinson. You ever heard about the Greeks?â Lokiâs only minorly preoccupied with the fact that Tony called him Odinson instead of Laufeyson that he almost doesnât notice the last part of the sentence. âThe Greeks?â Tony nods sagely. âAncient Greece, those gods. Zeus, Poseidon, Athena, and the rest.â
Loki frowns. âI thought those were just stories.â If thereâs a rumble of thunder overhead as he says this, Loki thinks that heâd rather blame it on his brother instead of the possibility of someone else. Tony just chuckles. âWe thought you were just stories, too, but look how that turned out. Norse deities, walking beside me and wearing leather.â
Loki shoots the guy a look, but Tonyâs too busy laughing at his own joke to notice. âSo which one is your recruit? Which god?â Tonyâs smile starts to fade away as he considers the report once again. âHades, the god of the dead, had a firstborn child. She goes by Y/N L/N up here. They call her the Goddess of Bloodlust. Her father was merciless but fair, at least. They say sheâs worse than that, far worse.â
Loki raises an eyebrow. âHow bad is she, then? And why the hell is she on the team if sheâs more bloodthirsty than the god of the dead?â Tony shrugs. âFury vetted her and he seemed fine with it. Anyways, no one knows how bad she is, because honestly, she doesnât seem like anything special.â Loki blinks. âSheâs the goddess of Bloodlust. How could she possibly not seem that bad?â Tony just shakes his head. âYouâll see when you meet her. Honestly, Iâm starting to think that the whole âgoddess of bloodlustâ thing is just a rumor or a gift from her dad.â
Thereâs a lot that could be said about that, but Loki decides to hold his tongue for once. Itâs a good thing that he does, too, because Tonyâs already reaching for the door that leads into the main living/working center of the Avengers complex. Thereâs a woman inside, one who turns when she sees Loki and Tony enter.Â
Loki knows that this must be the new recruit before anyone says a word. Who else could it be? When she locks eyes with him, Loki swears that he sees her eyes flash scarlet just once, the same shade of dark red as blood. When she flashes a grin, as quick as a wolf, and starts to walk closer to the two of them, Loki can feel his pulse thundering through his veins. He wants to fight or run or do something, anything. Y/N raises an eyebrow, as if she can tell exactly what heâs thinking. For a moment, itâs as if the entire world has been blocked out so itâs just the two of them, and Lokiâs fairly sure that he wants it to just be him.Â
Then it hits him- this is fake. Itâs an illusion, an aura of Y/Nâs powers. Some of the Avengers had mentioned feeling something like this around him, like how he can tell when Thor enters a room without looking up just by the crackle of sheer electricity in the air. Loki takes a breath in and out, and just like that, the feeling is gone.Â
Y/N cocks her head to the side. âYou must be Loki.â A flash of her eyes, and Loki feels that same urge again, but he fights it back. Heâs used to it now, seeing it like itâs one of his own lies. âThat would be me. You would be Y/N, then?â A smile touches at the corners of Y/Nâs lips. âIndeed.â
Tony claps his hands together, startling Loki for a second. âWell, Iâve done my job. You two are introduced. If you need me, ask someone else.â Tony waves one more time before disappearing back down the hallway. Loki watches him go, then turns back to Y/N, whoâs watching him with an interested smile. He feels that he ought to say something, so he does.Â
âItâs nice to meet another god. Usually I just speak to the ones from Asgard.â Y/N inclines her head. âI would agree. Usually the other Greek gods donât come down to my fathers realm. It tends to creep them out, so to speak.â Loki has the vague impression that he is prey being eyed down by a hawk or something with terribly sharp claws. Y/N continues. âAlthough I have to say you seem fine. Evidently not all spells work on the Avengers.â
Loki manages a chuckle. âIâm a trickster, darling. I tell enough lies to keep them straight, even when theyâre not my own.â Y/N laughs at that. âMakes enough sense. Youâre the only one whoâs been able to do that, though. I let it go after a while just to see what happens, and thatâs when the others go from being scared of me to thinking itâs all just an act. I donât think your Tony Stark believes in me all that much.â
Theyâve started walking through the Avengers complex, a tour without needing to explain anything. âTony Stark doesnât believe in anything he canât create himself. I donât think he accepts that Thor and I are gods, either. Maybe just very tall humans.â A fleeting smile appears on Y/Nâs lips. âWell, I suppose I have that to look forward to. You donât mind showing me around, do you?â
Loki very much does not, although he says this in slightly better wording, something that will make him seem more impressive. Heâs not sure why he already cares about what this goddess thinks about him, only that heâd like to learn a little more about her, and this is the best way to do it.Â
And, as it turns out, this is exactly what happens. He ends up staying for a couple hours at the complex that day, all to talk with Y/N. Over the next few months, she quickly becomes one of Lokiâs closest friends on the team, if heâs ever allowed himself to call anyone here a friend at all. He learns what makes her laugh and what doesnât make sense to someone whoâs spent a great deal of time in the Greek Underworld, her favorite style of fighting and what she does in her free time. Loki takes it all in and doesnât forget a word of it, just in case.
Thereâs one thing he doesnât understand, though, and that is her title. Sheâs supposed to be the Greek goddess of bloodlust, the most wild and fearsome child of Hades. Yet Loki doesnât get any of that from her, except on the first day. He almost gets the feeling that sheâs holding herself back, pulling her punches both in the training room and in missions. Loki has tried to discreetly ask about it, but Y/N changes the subject every time. If there is truly something there, itâs not something she talks about.
Loki isnât the only one to notice this, either. A few times, when Y/N has been away on a solo mission, the other Avengers get to talking in the way that they always do. A few hours in, a few drinks gone, and Steve is carefully asking how Y/N got on the team on the first place, or Thor is assuring Nat that most gods are able to easily outfight mortals, even if some of the Avengers seem able to hold their own against Y/N whenever they train side by side.
Loki doesnât say a word, choosing instead to sit and take it all in. After the Avengers are sure that no one is coming for them, they open up a little more. Tony leans back against his chair, mentioning how the stories must not be true because thereâs no way that Y/Nâs actually all that powerful. Are they sure sheâs even a goddess at all?
After a while, Loki excuses himself to leave. For some reason, it all leaves a sick feeling in the back of his throat. Sure, heâs spread his fair share of rumors, but he doesnât like the way theyâre all ganging up on Y/N when sheâs not there to defend herself. If he wanted to, Loki could take a stand, talk about the sheer power he felt when he first met her, how heâd known that the strength of her aura alone rivaled even Thor and Lokiâs.Â
But he stays silent. Itâs like thereâs a voice inside him telling him to wait, to pick his battles. Y/N has never liked it when someone else fights instead of her, and Loki knows enough about her to learn that she has that same streak of pride as every other Greek god, or at least as far as she says. Heâs spent many nights listening to her talk about her uncle Zeus or cousin Ares and all of the trouble they cause. Sometimes, they share stories into the early hours of dawn, comparing Asgard to Olympus or Hela to Hades. Itâs one of the only times Loki has truly felt at peace.
Besides, heâs got enough to think about as is. Lokiâs started to hear rumors of a new mission coming up, one thatâs got even Thor shaking his head and frowning into his cup of mead. In all the time Loki has spent on Earth, heâs noticed one thing for sure: if the mortals canât seem to reach the heavens, theyâll create their own gods themselves. Thereâs been a rise of inhumans as of late, and a report just came out that a group of about a dozen of them just escaped from a HYDRA facility.
The hope is that theyâll either die off or defect to S.H.I.E.L.D., but Loki has a feeling that this wonât be easy. All the Avengers can do is wait for the order to roll in, the one thatâll ship them out to wherever the inhumans have fled. Then, theyâll do their best to take them down, and hopefully not get too injured trying. From what Loki has heard, these guys arenât the usual easy targets. Itâll be hard, even for a group like the Avengers.
As it turns out, Loki is right to be wary- barely a week later, Fury sends a message to the Avengers saying one thing and one thing alone: Itâs time. The Director doesnât have to clarify, everyone else already knows. Thereâs nothing else it could mean, anyways. Loki shows up at the complex, greeting Y/N, who arrives around the same time as he does. The team prepares and ships out without another word. In the end, not even pleasantries among friends can save you from having to go to war.
They find the inhumans soon enough. They look a little rough around the edges, likely due to being on the run from both HYDRA and S.H.I.E.L.D., but that doesnât stop them from being absolute powerhouses. One of them uproots a nearby tree with a flex of an arm, lifting an oak taller than a two-story building as if it were a dandelion. Another raises her hands, and the ground around her erupts into flames the size of a car. There are many more, too, each with their own little gift. Loki grimaces to himself. This might hurt.
This, as it turns out, is an understatement. Despite the Avengersâ best efforts, theyâre only able to take out three or four before getting backed into a corner. Tony Starkâs suit got hit badly and heâs down, Steve is getting an injured Clint to safety, and Thorâs busy trying to do battle with an inhuman who seems to have the power to control storms. Lightning strikes against lightning, and Loki can barely see through a hail of rain.
Nat calls over to them. âGuys, we need backup now! Either we go or we need more people to show up, but weâre not winning this by ourselves.â Tony shakes his head. âWeâre not risking any more lives. This was our fight, we have to end it.â His voice is heavy as he says it; everyone knows that the Avengers arenât winning this. It was too many at once, and thereâs no way everyone is getting out alive.
Or, that was what Loki had thought until Y/N walks up. She has a hand pressed to her earpiece, as if sheâs talking to someone on the other end. At first, Loki thinks sheâs calling for backup, and then he hears what sheâs saying. âPermission to stop holding back, Director?â Her voice is almost sarcastic as she speaks, like the whole question is just a bit of etiquette. A moment later, and she grins. âThank you.â
Loki frowns at her. âWhat was that about?â Y/N turns to him, and for the first time since he met her, Loki feels afraid. âItâs time to fight.â A bolt of lightning flashes across the sky, and Loki swears that Y/Nâs eyes turn a brilliant blood red. When she grins again, her teeth flash like a wolfâs. Somehow, Loki gets the feeling that something very bad is about to happen, but only for the inhumans.
Y/N turns back to the enemies, and raises her hands, palms towards the splitting sky. All of a sudden, Loki is hit by this sensation that heâs about to die. It takes everything in him to not charge into battle, to do something even if it gets him killed. Thatâll happen anyway, wonât it? All that matters is going out well.
This same feeling must hit the inhumans, because they turn from pursuing the other Avengers and start to run towards Y/N instead. Loki steps forward to call out to Y/N, for surely she canât take them all on at once, but sheâs grabbing the two swords at her side and starting to fight. Loki falls silent as he watches.Â
She kills the first one with a single stab through the heart, the second by a clean decapitation. Another inhuman screams out a battle cry, and Y/N whips her head around to stare at it before throwing a sword directly through it, impaling it to the ground where it slumps, unmoving. Her free hand extends towards the nearest inhuman, and amidst the sickening sound of ribs cracking and muscle moving, she rips its heart from its chest.
Y/N holds the still beating organ in her hand for a second, heedless of the blood dripping through her fingers to the ground, and laughs. It is a terrible sound, one that crashes around Lokiâs ears like the call of some monster. Y/N drops the heart, where it falls to the earth beneath her feet. She drags her thumb across her mouth in one brief motion, like slicing through someoneâs throat, and her lips turn red from the blood.
It takes barely a few more minutes for the remainder of the inhumans to die. They all charge towards her in some sort of frenzy that clouds their judgment and makes their swings wild and useless, a madness that infects all who come near her. When it all ends, Y/Nâs swords are dripping red, so much red that Loki doesnât know if heâs ever seen a color other than it.
At last, Y/N turns, and begins to walk back towards the other Avengers. They shrink away, but for some reason, Loki stays. In fact, he strides to her. Y/N raises an eyebrow when they finally come face to face. âWell?â She says it like a challenge. How many times has she frightened people away like this?
Loki, however, is not willing to let her powers scare him off. In fact, if he didnât know better, heâd say that it excited him. âI think I need to ask Fury why youâve been holding back all this time.â Y/N flashes him a grin, and it is just as electrifying as any one of Thorâs lightning bolts. âOh, it wasnât my choice. That was just one of the terms and conditions of my acceptance into the team.â
Loki shrugs. âWell, Iâm hoping it ends now.â Y/Nâs grin settles into a satisfied smile. âMe too.â The other Avengers are staring, Loki is sure of it, but after a while, they begin to pick themselves up and head back towards the Quinjet, stepping around the fallen bodies of the inhumans. At last, itâs just Loki and Y/N. Heâs not sure that heâd want it any other way.
Lost in the silence, Y/N looks up at him. âWhy arenât you scared of what I can do?â She says it simply enough, but Lokiâs lost for words. âI donât know. I should be, I think. But if you can trust me enough to ask despite the thousands of lies Iâve told, maybe I can love both you and your battlefield.â
He doesnât mean for that word to come out, love. To be honest, he wasnât even sure it was true until he said it. It is true, though, truer than most things Loki says. Whatever it means, Y/N smiles again. âWell, maybe I can love both you and the lies.â Loki feels his heart start to beat a little faster in his chest, but this time it isnât just because of the battle-fueled adrenaline rush that still hangs around Y/N, heavy as a cloak. Before he can think of something to stop himself, Loki leans forward and kisses her.
Loki can taste the copper tang of blood on her lips, but he doesnât care. The rain still beats down around them, but for once he doesnât mind. When he and Y/N finally head back to the jet, Loki thinks he might finally have met his match. The Trickster God and the Goddess of Bloodlust. Who would have guessed it?
Maybe, Loki thinks, it would be him.

Title: A Party and a Spy
Pairing: Loki x Goddess!Reader
Summary: Story set nearer the Viking Age. You were a Greek sea goddess who crossed paths with the god of mischief. Continuation of previous chapter. Loki is forced to return to Asgard to unwillingly participate in the festivities honoring Odin and Thorâs victories in Alfheim. He ends up drunk and in a piss poor mood that he then wants you to help relieve. Your secret meetings also finally attract an unwanted visitor. Super brief cameos here by Sif, the warriors three, and Thor, as well as Heimdall again.
Warnings: Semi smut possibly, but no real sex this chapter. Sorry to tease, will be some next chapter. Here is just mentions of arousal, grinding through clothing. Mention of masturbation. Also some animal abuse, but a magical animal who will be fine I guess. The princes are just jerks like that.

ââââââââââ
You still felt warm, your head just poking out from under the blanket as you stretched a little. Your hand ran out across the mattress after a moment though, contacting nothing to your surprise as you then opened your eyes.
As you quickly sat up, the look on your face must have said far too much as you heard a chuckle from nearby.
âNo, goddess, I havenât left just yet. My, you are expressive though.â
As you turned your head towards the voice, you saw Loki now sitting in one of the two chairs at the small table opposite your side of the bed.
He was still dressed only in a pair of pants you also quickly noted, yourself still so unused to seeing this much of him as your eyes lingered on the lean muscle and pale skin.
âWhat?â He asked, not missing that stare either, though the sly look in his eyes told you he knew damned well what you were now distracted with. He just wanted you to say it.
âAsgardians really do wear too many clothes, if you are any proper example anyway.â You replied simply though. Why hide so much all the time?
He raised an eyebrow, but was smirking as he taunted a little further. âOh I can assure you, there is no one in Asgard like me. And youâd prefer this not be reserved just for you then?â
You tried not to look caught off guard. Even if he were only teasing, the implication that heâd still be keeping this type of intimacy for you alone was something that made your stomach flutter slightly.
âCome here.â He said next though, snapping you back to attention, though you still hesitated. Was that a command or a request?
He only rolled his eyes after a moment though. âOh, donât waste time trying to be proud now. I do have to leave shortly, it will already be late morning in Asgard by now.â He extended a hand to you. âSo come, sit with me.â
You eventually acquiesced, standing from the bed then, though intending just to walk to the other chair. Yet the very moment you were close enough, he only grabbed you by the arm, pulling you down to sit on his lap instead.
He was surprisingly fast and strong when he wished to be, his arms already around your waist as well before you could think to try and stand again.
âThere. That wasnât so hard was it?â He spoke lowly against your ear as you shifted.
But to your surprise he didnât touch you any further, even though one arm did stay around your waist to keep you steady as his other hand just went back to the table.
âI have a job for you.â He added, then moving his hand oddly as a piece of parchment paper and a writing quill appeared abruptly from thin air. âAt least I think it may work. Iâm sure the majority of these animals are illiterate. Iâm hoping at least the clan chief has some shaman or someone of the sort that understands these runes. Itâs the only written language Iâve ever seen in this land.â
But even as he started to write on the paper, your mind was still only fixating on what youâd just seen as you asked abruptly. âHow did you do that?â
He seemed focused on whatever symbols he was now putting on the page, but he still answered. âHow do I do what? Theyâre just runes.â
âNo, how did you conjure the pen and paper?â Controlling the elements, moving objects by will, or casting illusions was one thing. But forming a very unnatural, man made object from essentially nothing was different than the typical kind of magic you were used to.
Loki paused a moment then, like trying to digest what youâd just said before he glanced back up to look you in the eyes.
âThe woman can move the seas themselves and is astonished by a piece of paper?â He mocked incredulously.
Your eyebrows lowered. âListen, I know good and well Iâm no sorceress. Thatâs why Iâm asking. How do you create something like that from nothing?â
He shook his head. âGods, they really just give magic to anyone these days.â
A joke clearly, as everything you had you had been born with, though learning to control it had taken time. And to be honest, was still an ongoing learning process. But you still wanted an answer as you looked at him pointedly.
He sighed under your gaze. âI really donât have the time for this. But I know you wonât let it go.â He had continued writing though even as he kept talking. âI didnât make them, goddess. I brought them with me. You are at least correct in that nearly all instances of magic, nothing can be made without taking of something else. Iâm sure when you make those little whirlpools of yours for instance, youâre drawing the latent energy from the water. The currents, the temperature differences, what have you. To truly make something from nothing...well, that would be chaos magic. Which, may or may not even exist depending which of the ancient magesâ tomes you most believe in.â
You could tell he did take pride in his studies and the principles behind them clearly. If he wasnât already concerned about returning to Asgard, you could probably get a whole lecture on this subject right now. But you couldnât help but point out again, as you just responded. âYet you still havenât really answered my question. If you brought them with you, where were they before?â You glanced down at his pants as if to reaffirm your doubt that anything other than himself had been hidden there as they were relatively tight.
Yet he still smirked at your continued insistence. âOn the scale of the things Iâm capable of, my dear, thatâs just a parlor trick. And if you really care so much, I can teach you at some other time.â
At that, he paused writing again though, placing the quill down momentarily as he then moved his hand again for a long dagger to abruptly be held in his palm. âYou see? There are far better uses to this trick.â He flipped the knife just as quickly though, letting the bladeâs point stab into the table as the dagger then stood on end.
And as it did so he made sure to look to see your reaction, also asking you, âDo you really just depend on your servants to follow you around at all hours with any weapons you may need?â
Yet you just looked from the dagger, then back to him. Surprised surely, but not actually frightened. âAnd do you have so many enemies as to always need that at the ready?â
âOne never really knows do they?â He answered smoothly, just grasping the daggerâs handle again before it disappeared once more.
It didnât seem like a threat really. But you felt he still wanted you to know a bit more of what he was capable of. You quieted afterward as he went back to writing for a few more moments.
When he was done, you could tell he glanced over the letter briefly, as if proofreading before he rolled the paper tightly and folded it.
He spoke rather business like then, an odd thing honestly as you still sat so intimately on his lap. âIf it wasnât already obvious, Iâd like you to carry this to the village leader while I return to Asgard. I donât have the time to deal with the mortals right now, and besides, theyâre your pets.â
âExcuse me? Have you forgotten whose idea this whole âprotectorâ role was to begin with?â
âOh, I was willing to let the lot of them be wiped out if youâd chosen not to save them. Iâd only need to spare whichever the nicest home was from burning as the marauders moved through, and we still would have ended up with a place to meet regardless.â
The sad thing was, you were actually sure he really meant that too. But he just continued.
âYet you pitied them, and now here we are. And as the beasts held up their end of the bargain, I agree itâs fair at least to give them some recognition for their work. A pat on the head and a âgood dogâ essentially, thatâs what this letter says. So you see, Iâm not wholly ungrateful.â
âA thank you letter?â You asked dryly. Relatively sure it likely didnât read completely as such.
âWell, essentially. But with a reminder on the rules as well.â
âRules?â
âOur privacy must be respected. Iâll put a green flame at the end of the trail nearer the village when weâre present. During the night, this place is also solely ours. If during the day thereâs no flame, then they can come up and clean and maintenance this tiny wood hutch like good help should.â
âYour staff at your palace must just adore you.â You mused sarcastically. âThe mortals are not our slaves, Loki.â
âItâs really an odd thing how you fancy them.â He retorted, though with an air of someone just humoring another person they already thought irreparably deluded. âBut I suppose you have nothing else fulfilling to pass the time when Iâm in Asgard. Some people like to paint, others like to craft things...you, you have your pets.â
Arrogant god you thought. As if suddenly you had no other purpose outside of him? Surely he saw that insulted look in your eyes as well, because you could see the entertained mirth in his own before he pulled you closer to kiss you suddenly.
And this one was rough again, briefly reminding you of that night in the cave as you felt his hands move down to your hips. His tongue was already in your mouth before you could even consider pulling away.
From last night when heâd only held you, to now seeming so hungry again, the sides of him could change so quickly you were learning.
His hands didnât move beneath your dress though, even though you thought his fingers may be grabbing you hard enough to bruise as he twisted you to be fully facing him. Straddling him actually with each of your legs now on either side of him as he rested against the back of the chair.
He kept kissing you, and it wasnât long before you felt that distinct hardness against you even through his pants. As always though, you wore nothing beneath your dress, a matter of practicality really for as often as you were in the water. Who would want any undergarments constantly rubbing and chaffing where you were most sensitive? You liked sheer and loose material in the dresses you wore, so that it moved easily as you swam and dried quickly when you were on land.
But he knew all this by now of course, as he just ground his hips then, that rough seam of his pants then moving between your legs as he drug it back and forth.
He was intentionally trying to work you up. You sensed the trap, but still found your own hands moving across his bare chest soon enough.
Your newfound lack of willpower was really astounding. Finally though, you pulled your head back to break the kiss and warn him. âIf youâre just doing this with no intention to actually follow through...â
âIf you wanted it so badly, you could have taken it last night.â He retorted though. âIâve already stayed too long.â
âWhy canât I want both?â You answered, meaning it as well. It wasnât just sex, nor was it just being in his company. Neither by itself was enough anymore. Each had its own place.
He looked frustrated himself though as you felt him thrust against you reflexively, that bulge in his pants wasted even as it scraped against where you were now becoming wet. âIâm telling you, Odin is back at the palace now. I have to be calculated in the times I come and go. There is some damned ceremony today, likely starting any moment by now for their victories in Alfheim. If Iâm not there, theyâre going to come looking for me.â
As much as you knew he liked to bend the truth. It wouldnât make sense for him to deny himself this right now unless it was actually for good reason.
âWell youâre the one who pulled me into your lap and kissed me.â You relented, though your own body now fully flustered and urging you to return to him even as you stood up and stepped away.
âWell you shouldnât have slept so late.â He grumbled back. Pulling at his pants in some discomfort as he stood as well.
But you watched as his armor manifested then, horned helmet and all as his magic washed across him. What you guessed would now be his attire for the ceremony heâd spoken of. You assumed that clothing and armor had been in whatever void the pen, paper, and dagger had been.
At least with his illusions he could also conceal his arousal if it hadnât faded on its own by the time he reached the palace though, you thought with some amusement.
Yet, even as he walked for the door, he taunted to you as if sensing your enjoyment of his current predicament. âYouâre welcome to get back in the bed you know. Think of me while you self soothe, goddess.â
So crude. But you just fired back before he could close the door. âAnd is that what you do at night in Asgard? Think of yourself as well to finish things off?â You were trying to mock his evident self importance of course.
Yet he didnât even miss a beat at the intended insult. âWhy be myself when I can just be you? Then I never have to forget how you feel.â
And just to prove that he could, you stared in disbelief as a perfect likeness of yourself then smiled back at you lewdly, thin dress and all before shutting the door unceremoniously.
Gods. That was just unnatural. And you had to sit down at that, arousal now paused at least as your bodyâs resulting confusion was almost palpable.
âââââââââââ
Asgard, not long after
Loki was back to his normal appearance, hurriedly stepping into the small grouping of warriors heâd recognized at once in the rest of the crowd at the palace ceremonial hall.
Sifâs head turned in immediate surprise and annoyance as those golden horns entered her peripheral vision. The irritation was evident even as she tried to keep her voice low with so many others still around them. âAnd just where have you been!? Thor was looking for you everywhere!â
âI was in the library, did he think to look in the library!?â Loki spat back immediately, knowing that even if his brother had checked there, Thor knew the layout of it so poorly, he could always have claimed to have been in another section.
âYet why are you breathing so hard, chap? Were you actually running?â Fandral asked as well, also looking Loki over.
âAnd why pray tell would I have been running?â Loki shot a glare to him next. Could they not mind their own damned business for once?
âBecause you were late?â Volstagg offered in that simplistic, yet matter of fact way that was always beyond annoying even on the best day.
âWell Iâm here now.â Loki huffed, though not missing the way Hogun was also staring at him critically. âAnd do you have something to add?â Loki grumbled at him.
But only Sif answered. âWell if you hadnât been lost in the library,â Her tone made clear how little she believed that excuse, âYouâd know that Thor chose you to give the congratulatory speech before-â
âThe what?â Loki stared at her, that odd mix of horror and disgust then abruptly clear on his face.
ââââââââââ
âSo what more can I say of Asgardâs favorite son?â Lokiâs public speaking voice boomed richly through the great hall, the throng of happy faces sickening as he smiled right back at them. What fresh Hel was this really?
âAlfheim counts her graces I am sure to have such noble saviors defend her-â By the gods he didnât even know what Odin and Thor had done there the entire time. He assumed thereâd been skull bashing and the normal heroics. But if theyâd been working out peace treaties instead the last few weeks, who knew. Heâd been looking for hidden portals to Midgard still on the days theyâd held the main debriefings.
âAnd with peace secured in the realms once more, please join me in giving thanks to the noble Allfather and the mighty Thor!â Loki wasnât normally one for alcohol. Not in comparison to most Asgardians anyway. He thought it dulled the mind too much. But by all the mages in all the realms...he so badly needed it now, as he took a large swig of the strongest Asgard had, before throwing the glass down to shatter it as was custom. âAnd let the feasts commence!â
The crowd erupted in cheers. And on any other day, that would have been something he obviously would have wanted. But Loki knew that not one voice was for him as he suddenly felt a large hand and arm go around his shoulders, shaking him roughly before his brotherâs voice joined the yells, yet right in his ear.
âHUZZAH!â Thor cried, one arm still around Loki as his other lifted Mjolnir triumphantly.
âââââââââ
And it was so many hours later before Loki had finally escaped. Time and time again as heâd tried to excuse himself from the endless barrage of drinks and food, it was as if his brother had somehow sensed it.
Then there would be Thor again, telling him any one of those same stories over and over as heâd somehow corralled Loki back into the feast room. If heâd had to hear one more time how with one hand forced behind his back, and Mjolnir still in mid air, that Thor had kicked one of the enemiesâ bombs right back into their own garrison, taking out an entire enemy troop as more of their stored artillery then exploded...Loki may have finally vomited.
As it was now, he wasnât exactly walking a straight line either though. Just carrying his own helmet in one hand, his head already throbbing as he made his way slowly through the corridors. His other arm reaching out occasionally, grazing the walls for balance.
He couldnât remember the last time heâd drank so much. Well, more like been forced to drink so much, just to try and maintain his sanity in what was essentially just another gathering of his brotherâs sycophants.
Honestly did Thor even see it? Did he really think all those hanger-ons were truly his friends? Perhaps there was some argument for Sif and the warriors three. As thick headed as they all were, they were about cut from the same cloth. And that was not a compliment.
But all the others? Itâd be almost pitiable really if it werenât so damned annoying. Yet maybe it was the alcohol there as well, making Loki linger on so many of these feelings again.
By the time he reached the entrance to his quarters, he was frowning as he pushed the heavy doors open. He still made sure that they shut fully behind him though as he waved his hand to lock them doubly with a spell.
It was not without precedent that in some true late night madness, either Thor, or Thor, Fandral, and Volstagg may still force entry to try and get him to accompany them on some additional drunken adventure while they were still riding so high on their accomplishments.
âIdiots,â Loki grumbled to no one though. Still stuck in that sour mood as he moved across the dark room, losing clothes as he did so before finally ending up in his elaborate bed. The silken sheets were then the only thing against his skin as he laid there in silence, though the room still feeling like it was moving slightly in his lingering vertigo.
But he just wanted to sleep. That and to will this headache and the thoughts that worsened it away.
But instead he only laid there. His drunken thoughts churning louder and louder as the minutes passed, alone in this extravagant, luxurious, and also very empty bed.
Scattered across the palace now, he could only imagine all the couplings likely occurring. Not necessarily in the full sense of the word. But he knew how these types of festivities normally ended.
Thor was likely in an archway somewhere with Sif, pawing at each other with all the finesse of a pair of schoolchildren. Fandral and Hogun would still be at a table, Fandral now showing off his sword to a couple maidens simultaneously with only thinly veiled euphemisms of how it compared to the hidden equivalent. And Volstagg would have his actual wife and children there, somehow still not bored of them yet as they all laughed together.
And thatâs what it really was, laughable.
Loki rolled onto his side, glaring towards the balcony and the stars dotting the black sky beyond it. No, he didnât need any of that farce of companionship. Not just for the sake of it anyway like all the others. He took what he wanted, when he wanted surely. Pleasure was one thing after all, but it didnât control him.
You didnât control him actually. Because no one controlled the god of mischief.
But the longer he lay there in silence, the more he could then imagine your fingers soon running through his hair, or the warmth of your lap to lay his aching head in. Heâd had bad days before, many times retreating to this very room alone. But he didnât have to be alone tonight. He didnât have to be alone at all anymore did he?
âGoddamnit.â He finally hissed. It was foolhardy, dangerous even after just returning from Midgard already once today. But he wasnât going to sleep tonight otherwise. Not until he had what he really wanted.
ââââââââââ
Loki certainly wasnât going to be walking all the way to the bifrost gate. Not at this hour, and not in this condition. So heâd taken a form that at least no one would have second guessed if theyâd just happened to look up as heâd passed quickly overhead.
One of Fatherâs ravens, or the rats with wings as he preferred to call them. And as heâd landed near Heimdall, then regaining his normal form, the older god just looked down at him, unimpressed.
âSheâs returned to the ocean. She already sleeps.â Heimdall spoke unprompted.
Yet Lokiâs eyebrows rose mockingly, even if his words took a little more effort right now. âOh? Making a habit of watching herâŚeven without me then? Thatâs a bit perverse.â
But the gatekeeperâs expression hardly changed at the insult, still so difficult to goad. âI saw you coming, and your questions to her whereabouts are becoming predictable.â
It was true. Loki had already come here several nights, yes. Mostly to check whether the mortals had finished that structure or not. And itâd finally been a pleasant reward just the other night when Heimdall had confirmed it already done and you there waiting.
âI donât care where she is.â Loki retorted though. âIâm going to Midgard. Open the gate.â
âYou are inebriated.â Heimdall warned.
âAnd you have a severely itritating penchant for stating the obviousâŚopen the gate.â He commanded more forcefully.
âAnywhere in Midgard particular?â Heimdall answered.
Loki paused though, hearing that slightest change in the guardianâs normal stoic tone with those last words. âAre youâŚattempting to make a joke?â
âI did not wish to assume or state the obvious again as you said. And you also say you do not care where she is. So do you not care where you should land tonight then?â
He was! He was mocking him. Loki growled, pointing his finger for emphasis. âNow listen hereâŚit has been a god awful, long day. Quit trying to dissuade me. Send me to the village, gatekeeper!â
âAny village?â
Gods. âMy village, her village, whatever you want to call it. But do it or Iâll use the damned sword myself!â
With one last cheerless look down at Loki, Heimdall turned the sword then, opening the gate even as he warned a final time. âDo not fall from the bifrost, Prince. The universe is vast and does not suffer the careless well. Do remember as well that all things done have consequences in the end.â
But Loki had no time to search for deeper meaning in the words, just ruffling more as he walked towards the light. âIs that a threat?â
âOnly a truth and a caution.â Heimdall again answered, just before the other disappeared back across the bridge.
ââââââââââ
And as the light left him again, Loki was once more in that dark forest. Yet, the ground far lighter colored than normal as to a little of his surprise, his boots now found fresh snow. Winter had finally arrived to this part of Midgard apparently.
He cursed, realizing it would have been far smarter to have told Heimdall to deposit him directly onto the beach this time as heâd now had to navigate back down the hillside and to the trail that led between the cliff face.
It had started snowing again as well as he walked, the large flakes sticking in his black hair by the time he reached the oceanâs edge. He should have told you just to stay at the cabin this morning. But he didnât expect to be standing here again so soon either.
Loki didnât care about the water at this point though, the waves rushing up around his feet and over the top of his boots as he trudged forward to call out. âHear me, sea beasts! Hear me and bring your mistress to me!â
And it didnât take long of course before he saw two feminine looking torsos rise just where the waves were breaking in the distance. Not quite human, but expressive enough that he could see the skepticism in their body language.
âSheâs asleep!â One called back over the waves.
âThen go and wake her!â He only hissed back as if scolding an insubordinate child. Why did everyone feel the need to test him tonight?
But the two nymphs just looked at one another. The other then speaking. âWhat is so important? Are you claiming injury again?â
He scoffed at the jab, voice easily sliding into its darker range then, even in his continued drunken state. He did not have time for this. âDo not forget your place, water sprite.â
And as he made a move as if to step further into the water, he was pleased to see them both shrink back at that. When they disappeared not long after, he knew all he now had to do was wait.
âââââââââ
You didnât fully know what to expect. Why was he back so soon? Not that you should complain, but heâd made such a point about having to return to Asgard this morning, and heâd never come back so quickly before. Even though it was now dead of night.
The nymphs also said heâd been acting strangely, even a bit ruder than normal. They insisted you bring your spear, and so you had as you broke the surface only to find him sitting at the waterâs edge. Though not even far enough onto the beach to stay dry as the water now ran around him and then pulled back with each successive wave. His pants and cloak were clearly soaked, snow also dotting all over him to your surprise.
âLoki?â You asked, concerned but cautious. Normally the rare sight of snow would have distracted you in its own right had you not been so focused on him. The north was still unique to you for all its differences.
âThe cold doesnât bother me either.â He said abruptly, seeing that worry in your eyes. But he didnât stand out of the water. âYou really should reprimand your servantsâŚâ
âItâs not quite that kind of a relationship.â You replied, though not defensively as you still tried to realize what was wrong with him. âAre you alright?â
âNo.â He said simply.
If it was just another trick, it was a good one. But you felt you had no real choice but to behave as if he was sincere. You only laid your spear down in the water as you then moved to sit down beside him.
He looked over at you as you did, and you could see how tired he looked even in the darkness. So close to him then, that was finally when you smelled the scent of alcohol, impressively strong even over the salt smell of the ocean.
He was drunk.
âLokiâŚâ You said again, unsure at all what would have driven him to this kind of excess. âDo you want me to help you to the cabin?â
He leaned closer though, as if to either kiss you or lay his head against yours. He did nuzzle your face slightly though as he whispered in your ear. âI want him to get closer first.â Before you could react though, heâd then grabbed your chin to keep you from looking away from him. âHe canât hear us over the noise of the seaâŚbut donât look away.â
And he did kiss you then, that heady taste of the alcohol almost as distracting as the nonsensical words. His hand was moving up your thigh as well as his other moved around to your back. It all seemed like only the beginnings of foreplay before just as suddenly, he then pushed you down beneath him. His hand that had been on your thigh pulled back simultaneously to throw a dagger violently out into the darkness.
You heard a distinct sound of a hit, a creature screech, and then chaotic flapping in the sand and snow somewhere near the cliffâs base.
Loki was now laying on top of you, your back still pressed into the wet sand as the water rushed back up around you both. He glanced back down at you then, ignoring the confusion in your eyes as he kissed you roughly several times more before finally pulling back again. âWeâll have to get back to that tomorrowâŚâ He all but purred, mood shifting suddenly to satisfaction as he stood once more and offered you his hand.
Utterly baffled, you still took it, letting him help you up before he let go of you to walk off towards the distressed sounds you still heard near the cliff. You only hung back long enough to grab your spear before hurrying to follow him.
You didnât know what kind of beast to expect from all the noise, and only found yourself more surprised as a pitiable looking black bird finally came into view. It flapped even harder upon seeing Loki, but with one wing clearly mangled and blood spattering the snow and sand around it.
âOh, you over dramatic twat.â Loki fussed, snatching the hapless creature up with little fanfare as his other hand reclaimed his now bloody dagger, disappearing it again with his magic. âAnd which one are you?â He asked, holding it roughly near his face as it now continually tried to bite him in defiance.
You didnât know what he was looking for, and you were about to say something about how harshly he was holding the poor animal before Loki smirked in recognition.
âWellâŚMuninn, you little vermin. You saw me leave the palace didnât you? Did you really think I was your other half? Couldnât leave well enough alone could you?â
What? So this was one of Odinâs ravens? But, Loki had just stabbed it! Was this not treason? Treason that you were now a party to? You had so many questions as your inner panic began to grow.
But Loki only kept smiling, talking with condescension to the injured bird. âYet, for you to be here so quickly, then youâve found my door for me. Thereâs a rift between Asgard and Midgard somewhere nearbyâŚand for that you get to keep your other wing tonight, you little spy.â
âââââââââ
As you passed back up the trail to the cabin together, you saw Loki had indeed kept his word about signaling to the mortals when you were here. A green flame floated, ethereal in midair at the edge of the tree-line.
It had a haunting look to it, but you said nothing, still so focused on Lokiâs rough handling of the injured raven. And by the time youâd entered the woods, you could no longer contain yourself.
âPlease donât hold him by the chest like that. It makes it too hard for them to breathe. Youâre going to suffocate him!â
At your outburst, Loki seemed to have a genuine moment of surprise, looking over at you before his normal superior expression returned. âJust because you can become a birdâŚ.doesnât mean you should give a damn about this one. Donât waste your time on kindness. Despite your bleeding heart, his loyalty lies only with the Allfather. Heâll snitch you out regardless.â
âBut, he has lost a lot of blood. We canât let him die, LokiâŚâ You still kept on, worried the alcohol had truly made him lose all sense of judgement.
Again he just gave you the oddest look before outright laughing though. He shook the bird a little, making it squawk again, before continuing. âThis rat and his brother are imbued with Odinâs magic. They cannot perish so easily as long as Odin still lives.â
Yet, that was still not comforting to you in the slightest. In what possible way could torturing a favored pet of the Allfather end positively for the two of you?
But Loki didnât miss the way you still stared with disapproval, just rolling his eyes as you finally made it to the cabin. âDo you know how long weâve dealt with these little pests? When Thor got his first slingshot as a boy, what do you think he practiced it on? When I learned my first spells, what did I test them on? There is nothing new to thisâŚâ
âThatâs awful.â You grumbled, though watching as Loki did this odd movement with his shoulders, his magic shifting over him so that he was suddenly dry again.
As he walked inside, you had to shake the snow off yourself the old fashioned way. Your dress and hair still damp from that and the ocean combined as you followed him inside, leaning your spear against the wall before closing the door. âSo you could do that the whole time,â You commented as to his drying trick, though not really surprised by anything else right now.
He smirked a little, knowing what you were thinking. With a wave of his hand a couple of the candles also lit. âOh, I didnât do it that night in the cave. You were supposed to take pity and ask me to take off some of my wet clothesâŚof course they ended up off anyway didnât they?â
You crossed your arms, just frowning as he unceremoniously opened the chest on the floor next, tossing the injured Muninn into it before slamming it back closed.
âIâll deal with you in the morning,â Loki threatened in response to the resulting angry squawk, giving the chest a light kick before the noise inside silenced.
When he turned to look at you again, he only offered a dark smile. Though still looking tired as he started to remove his clothes.
You tried to keep your disapproving look strong even as you realized he was using no magic at all, removing his vestments piece by piece as if to taunt you into further watching.
But looking away would have just goaded him too wouldnât it? Letting him know the sight of his body still did things to you. You couldnât win either way as all of his clothes finally laid piled on the floor, no neatness this time as he went lay nude in the bed.
You stood there a further moment, really not knowing what to do. He didnât deserve to be rewarded right now in your mind. But were you just supposed to walk right back out the door? You didnât have the willpower for that either, not anymore.
He watched you lazily too, waiting. His voice was quieter now though as he did speak again. âIf Iâd wanted to sleep aloneâŚI would have just stayed in Asgard.â
Your shoulders lowered a little at the softer words, but you didnât know how much you really believed him. You finally did approach the bed however, removing your wet dress, and not missing the way his eyes moved across your body before you climbed in under the blanket beside him.
But you could also tell he was in no condition for love making, even as you felt his hand encircle one of your wrists, himself then pulling your hand up so your fingers fell into his hair.
He gave you an imploring look, making his intention clear even if unexpected. It was so strange, but you complied, starting to rub your fingers through his hair and along his scalp gently.
The way he clearly relaxed into the touch reminded you so much of a placated animal truly. And he even closed his eyes as you just continued stroking, letting the black hair work repeatedly between your fingers.
To drunkenly cross the vast breadth of space just for this minor affection, also risking exposure by his Fatherâs informants, was it telling you that he really was so reckless after all? OrâŚwas this becoming a real need for him?
Were you becoming a need in his life?
You felt him line up his body with yours, flesh to flesh as he got further comfortable.
âThank you.â You heard him say at last. Surprising you enough that you could find nothing to say in return.
You just kept on with your soft touches though, comforting the troublesome prince all the way until he finally fell asleep in your arms.

Trouble Sleeping (Loki x reader)
I swear if this deletes for a third time Im gonna cryÂ
KINDA A SLOW BURN BOIS
also I didnât finish reading it over for mistakes bc Iâm lazyÂ
summary: y/n and Loki used to be very close friends and sometimes when she had bad nightmares heâd use his magic to calm her mind, a few years have passed and theyâve grown apart. Her nightmares come back and hesitantly she seeks Lokiâs help againÂ
word count: 3,592 wahahahaha
y/n leaned over one of the balconies that overlooked the kingdomâs private garden. The weather was perfect, the temperature ideal, sky blue, and the plants were all thriving feet below her. Despite the scenery however y/nâs attention was fixated elsewhere.Â
Down in the depths of the garden, propped up on one of the fancy golden benches was the youngest Asgardian prince-Loki. His dark raven hair was combed back as he turned to the next page in his novel, the cover matching the shade of green displayed on his clothes. y/n couldnât help but sigh as she watched the handsome prince, they had once had an unbreakable bond. It was always Loki and y/n-best friends, one wouldnât be seen without the other. But somewhere among their late teenage years, Loki had become more cold and distant towards y/n-leaving her alone in the giant halls of the castle to wander alone. Thatâs when her and Thorâs relationship grew stronger-she had always been friends with the God of Thunder but after her and Lokiâs relationship crumbled to pieces he was there to cheer her up.Â
âOh there you are!â Thorâs voice boomed-pulling y/n from her daydream. y/n glanced once more at Loki before turning her attention to her tall friend. âI was looking for you!â He beamed.Â
âWhat can I do for you, your highness?â y/n asked with a playful voice.
Thor smiled, putting his hands together before continuing, âI was hoping that you would join me and-â his words faded as he glanced down to the gardens and caught sight of Loki. y/nâs attention soon turned to the railing in front of her as she traced her fingers along itâs smooth surface. âYou still watch him.â Thor told her, his normally enthusiastic voice was now dry and serious. âHow long have you been thinking of him?â
y/n furrowed her eyebrows, playing with her fingers. âI never stopped.â She confessed, âI know itâs foolish but I canât help it, I..miss him more than I can even begin to explain.â
Thor was silent as he watched the girl glance back down at the gardens then to the sky. âLetâs go...horseback riding.â He suggested, getting y/n attention. âTo lift your spirits, we can go with Sif a-â
âNo.â y/n blurted out, ânobody else-I donât want to embarrass myself again by falling off my horse.â
Thor chuckled, ânobody is going to think low of you-â he looked at y/n once more sensing her silent plea âvery well then, just us.â He agreed, making her smile.
âThank you.â She laughed, giving him a hug. It caught Thor by surprise but he then loosely wrapped his arms around y/n in return. âThank you for everything,â y/n whispered, âreally, I donât know whatâd Iâd do without you. Iâm blessed to have a friend like you.â
âOf course.âÂ
Neither of the two friends noticed that down in the gardens Loki clenched his jaw, snapping his book shut and silently retreated to his room-they also didnât notice the pair of blue eyes staring through the window at them, when they returned laughing on horseback.Â
_____________________________________________________________
There was fire everywhere, thick black smoke made it impossible for her to breath. She was choking-desperate for air. She fell to the ground as the fire closed in quickly-itâs heat trapping her in the room. There was no hope, no help was coming and it was impossible to escape, with a loud crack the ceiling caved in leaving her trapped screaming out as the furious flames burned her alive.Â
y/n woke up with a start, beads of sweat lined her forehead although her room was cool and she found that her hands were shaking. Realizing it was just a dream she lied back down, covering her face with her hands as she tried desperately to fall back asleep. She got no more sleep that night.
The same thing happened again in the coming days and three days later while in training, y/n who was running on less than four hours of sleep was doing rather well. In one quick movement she jumped up-kicking the sword right out of Fandralâs grip.Â
âVery good!â Volstagg commented from across the room.
âYes.â Fandral agreed, âshow me that move and Iâll show you some of mine.â He winked.
âJust give me a time and place.â y/n responded playfully, earning a laugh.Â
âImpressive.â Fandral commented at her response. (she normally responded to his joke flirting with an eye roll)Â
âYes impressive.â Loki commented from behind Fandral. âThat y/n can apparently chase after two men at once.â He said this while staring casually at Thor. Sif went stiff inder the tension and Thor opened his mouth but y/n spoke first.
âIâm sorry?âÂ
âWell by the looks of it, you canât seem to decide between Thor and-âÂ
âBrother thatâs enough.â Thor warned, taking a step forward.
âIâm just putting out a warning, you do know what they say about these sort of things.â Loki remarked, not meeting her eyes.
âYou know full well that I am not chasing after anyone.â y/n said, growing aggravated.Â
âIt sure seems that way.âHe then opened the door to the room and left.
âYou know what?â y/n responded, dropping her sword to the ground with a loud clang âI am tired of this.â
ây/n I think it best if you ignore him.â Sif spoke up, ânobody is accusing you of anything, we all know you arenât that sort of person-â
âThank you Sif, but I am not taking this.â y/n exited the room in pursuit of Loki, who was a few paces ahead of her walking calmly.Â
âI donât like being followed.â He simply called out to her, because his room was only about a minute walk away from the training room he reached it fairly quickly.
âWhat is your problem?â y/n asked him, putting her foot in between the door and itâs frame as Loki was about to shut it.
âI donât have a problem, now if youâd excuse me Iâd like you to leave me alone.âÂ
âThen leave me alone.â She huffed, âhold your silvertongue and stop acting as if youâre above me because youâre not.â
âIs that all?â He asked her calmly, âyouâre done with your childish tantrum?âÂ
âOh you are so-â y/n narrowed her eyes.
âSo what?â Loki asked with an eye roll.
âTerrible.â y/n blurted, earning a cold laugh from the God of Mischief.
âSo Iâve been told.â He stated bored.
âNo, I mean youâre really terrible and for so many reasons.â
âSuch as?â Â
âYou want a list?â y/n asked with a bitter laugh, âok well you think youâre better than everyone and youâre not, you poke fun at other people because itâs amusing to you and-and everyone-I mean everyone thinks that youâre a snake, ever since we were younger, and I canât believe Iâm just now realizing that..theyâre probably right.â He swallowed hard furrowing his eyebrows, âyou used to be my best friend Loki, Iâd defend you from peopleâs accusations when you werenât around and..I wasted my time because you are everything people say you are and worst.â She saw the look in his eye, she hurt him-good now he understood how it felt.Â
Loki glanced away-looking down at the girl again. âIs that all?â He asked, trying desperately to remain collected. y/n scoffed. âYou may think you know me but I know you much more, donât forget, Iâve been inside your head. People may think Iâm a bad person but I can live with that, you on the other hand canât stand the fact that someone might not like you, so much so that youâll break down about it. Youâre a weak fighter, youâre not as clever or as witty as you seem to think, and frankly I donât understand the fascination Thor seems to have with you, youâre nothing special.â Â
y/n pulled her foot from the doorway. What happened to us? She was about to cry and she did not want him seeing that. âIs that all?â She asked, reciting his previous question.
âYes.â He spat coldly.Â
âGood.â She turned to walk away as Loki stayed in his place trying to keep the impression that he didnât care.
Late at night y/n tossed and turned in her bed, trying to fall asleep after waking up from a particularly realistic dream-she had thought that by laying still sheâd trick her body into falling asleep but that didnât happen. She knew that she had been able to power through the last few days with almost no sleep-but sheâd certainly crash if she didnât get any sleep soon. The thought of making a visit to Loki for help came to her mind, but she really didnât want to give him the satisfaction of knowing she wanted/needed his help. Screw it. She thought after another couple of hours, her clock read 2:35 as she swung her legs over her bed and slipped on her slippers and robe.Â
The halls were dark and empty except for the occasional guards, which she was careful to avoid (she didnât want to raise any suspicion). Thank God her room was only a three minute walk from Lokiâs. It was once she was already in front of Lokiâs door that she started getting second thoughts, but she was there already and the worst that could happen was getting the door slammed in her face or no answer. She raised her cold knuckle, letting it hover over the doorâs fine wood before knocking. âItâs y/n..â She announced barely above a whisper, âtrust me I really donât want to ask for your help but I see no other option an-â
The door opened a small crack. âyou do realize what time it is, right?â Lokiâs annoyed voice asked-he didnât sound like he had just woken up, maybe he was having trouble sleeping also.
âI know.â At her response Loki opened the door wider, revealing himself in a pair of emerald colored pajamas. âLook I know-â at the sound of approaching footsteps (guards) Loki stepped aside, giving her a cue to get in. She did, turning to face him one he closed the door again-his back facing the door he put his hands on his hips.
âWhat do you want?â
âI canât sleep.â She said sheepishly, âI just-Iâm getting the same nightmares again and I thought that maybe just this once you could, you know..â She put hands up, wiggling her fingers to imitate magic.
Loki rolled his eyes, âfirst off thatâs not at all how magic looks, second why should I help you?â
âJust this once!â y/n practically begged, âplease. Iâve have not been sleeping at all I just need one hour. I wonât make you sleep on my couch like I did when we were younger, you can just...alter my thoughts or something and Iâll leave and-âÂ
âFine.â Loki agreed, grumpily. He walked back over to his bed, getting in between the covers on the left side. âWell?â He asked when she stared blankly at him. He rolled his eyes again, âObviously if you go back to your room I wonât be able to sense when I have to alter your thoughts and youâll just come back to make a racket when you have another nightmare.â y/n nodded slowly, making her way to the right side of the bed. âBesides itâs a big bed, just stay on that side-away from me.â She laid down, hesitant at first as she tightened her robe around herself. Loki leaned over, placing a finger and thumb over her temples to enter her mind.Â
When she woke up she was in the same exact position that she was in when she went to bed and Loki was standing directly above her looking annoyed once again. It was still dark outside as he looked down at her from where he stood. âItâs about time, Iâve been trying to wake you up for the last two minutes.â
âWhat time is it?â
â6:05..the castles about to start waking up, you should leave before more people get uo to avoid being seen.â y/n nodded in agreement.Â
âOkâ she walked to his door, turning to watch as he laid back down in his bed. âAnd Loki..â
âWhat?â He sighed.
âThank you.â She said softly, leaving the room right after. Loki was left surprised.
âLook I know I said just once-â y/n whispered that night outside of Lokiâs door, it was past 2 a.m. again, but surprisingly Loki let her in again.
âThe faster you stop pestering me, the better.â Loki told her harshly. He had woken her up at 6 a.m. again like he had done the the last time. The time after that Loki woke her up at 7 and the time after that she had woken up past 8 to see Loki sitting in a chair some feet from her sharpening his knives-when she had asked him why he hadnât woken her up he had simply reminded that he could just teleport her back to her room, that way nobody would know she had spent the night there.
Flash forward a month later, y/n tiptoed to Lokiâs room in her nightgown again, the nights were getting hotter which had led to her to leave her robe behind. When she had reached Lokiâs room she didnât need to knock, since he now left it unlocked for her.Â
Once she laid down on the right side of the bed (more towards the middle now rather than all the way on the edge) Loki laid down about a foot from her. They didnât go to bed right then however, since they had formed a habit of talking before falling asleep. âHave you been sleeping better?â Loki asked the girl beside him.
âyes.âÂ
âGood...â
y/n rolled onto her side to face Loki, âThank you again.â He nodded. âYou know for someone who hates me, youâre actually quite kind to me.â The corner of Lokiâs mouth folded up slightly,
âI donât hate you...â He rolled over onto his side to face her, âbut what I do hate-â he then had explained the entire plot of a book just to express his hatred for one detail in it.Â
y/n woke up in the middle of the night with a start, her nightmares had came back. As it turned out Loki wasnât in the room but when he got back with a glass of water he noticed she was off right away. âIâm sorry.â He quickly apologized, sitting beside her, âI was just-I didnât think-â  Â
âI know, itâs fine.â y/n told him, but his hand was still on her shoulder and his blue eyes still held worry in them. âIâm just-Iâm going back to bed...â Loki nodded, watching as she laid down again.Â
âAre you sure youâre alright?â She nodded.
As she began drifting off she felt Loki take her hand in his. Later on in the night y/n woke up randomly, but she wasnât facing Loki anymore-instead she was facing his dim window, she felt warm but not from the covers and to her surprise she realized that the princeâs arm was around her waist, keeping her close. Their legs were tangled mess at the bottom of the bed and she could hear his slow breathing as he slept peacefully. She looked around slowly, trying to figure out a way to move away to avoid the embarrassment when he wakes up-but just as she began to shift around she heard him speak up. âWhat time is it?â up.Â
âSorry...â She apologized growing red, âI donât know how-â Â
âItâs fine.â She heard Loki whisper.Â
âIt is?â
âThis is quite comfortable.â He whispered again, then he moved slightly closer-resting his head on her shoulder and he fell asleep again-she assumed that he was half awake and didnât fully process what had happened. She decided it didnât matter and fell asleep again, after all he wasnât wrong-it was comfortable. Â
There was a loud noise that woke y/n right up, making her jump. Now she realized that she was facing Loki again, her arms were wrapped around his neck like in a hug, his head was nuzzled in the crook of her neck-their legs still a tangled mess. Bang! Bang! There it was again, she lifted her head, looking towards the door as it came again-bang! Bang!Â
âLokiâ She whispered, gently shaking his sleeping form. He ignored it, pulling her closer in response instead. âLoki, someoneâs at the door.â She whispered, trying not to laugh. He sighed looking up towards his door.
âJust ignore it, theyâll go away itâs probably a servant or-â
âLoki!â Thorâs voice came from the other side of the door, âLoki, I know youâre in there! Open the door.â Loki rolled his eyes, standing up to make his way towards the door.Â
He opened the door a few inches, âwhat do you want?â He hissed.
âI-â Thor paused, âare wearing your nightwear?â
âWhy is that of any importance-what do you want?â
âer, Loki is there someone in there with you?â Thor asked.Â
y/n held her breath, afraid that somehow Thor would hear her from the doorway. âI-no!â Loki snapped, âWhat are you talking about?â
âAlright, alright I apologize. Iâm here to ask if you have seen y/n? Iâve been searching for her, sheâs normally turned up somewhere at this time itâs past 10.âÂ
âNo I donât know where she is, I havenât seen her. Check the garden, sheâs most likely wandering around there.â He shut the door, turning back to y/n.Â
âPast 10?â y/n asked, covering her mouth, âI shouldâve been awake two hours ago.â Loki shrugged. âCan you teleport me back to my room, I should go to the gardens since Thorâs looking for me.â Loki looked at the ground with an unfamiliar look in his eyes before nodding. âThank you.â
The girl had spent more time with Thor training than she had expected that day, leading her to take an extra long shower at night to get clean. She hadnât realized until she looked at her clock that it was past 10-normally sheâd already be at Lokiâs room by now. Quickly she dried her hair and changed into her nightwear.Â
She was about to leave and opened her door and unexpectedly Loki was there with his hand raised looking like he was about to knock. They stared at each other for a moment before she spoke up, âLoki? What are you doing here?âÂ
He glanced to the side, not wanting to meet here eyes as she awaited his response, âI thought..â he said glancing at the ground before back to her, regaining his composure âthat you-â
âWerenât coming?â She finished for him, he nodded.
âSo I came to see if you were ok, Iâll leave.â
âWait, no.â She told him, grabbing his wrist and taking him by surprise, âI was just coming it was just taking me longer, but you can sleep here if you want since youâre already here...?â He nodded in agreement, stepping into her room.
He settled himself into the bed, opening his arms for her to crawl into which she quickly did. The two laid there for a moment, listening to the quietness as Loki slowly brushed through her hair with his fingers.   Â
âremember the other day when I said that you were terrible?â y/n suddenly asked, getting Lokiâs attention. He stopped running his fingers through her hair.Â
âYes, why do you ask?â He responded cautiously.Â
âI was just mad at you. Iâm sorry.â
He took a moment to think to himself, âI didnât mean what I said either."
âCan I ask you something?â y/n asked after a while later.
âWhat?â
âWhy did you push me away?â She asked, shifting herself to meet his eyes.
Loki sighed-only it wasnât from being aggravated this time. He backed up a few inches from y/n-staring straight up at the ceiling. âItâs because..â
âBecause what?â
âI had noticed that you and Thor were becoming closer and decided to..abandon you before you did me. I thought itâd hurt less that way.â
âWhat do you mean?âÂ
âWell, everyone always seems to choose Thor over me, I just assumed you would, in time, do the same.â He confessed, still not meeting her gaze.Â
âLoki...â she set her hand on his shoulder waiting for him to look at her. âI would never abandon you for Thor, sure Thor is my friend but so is Fandral, so is Volstagg, so is Sif and Iâm not abandoning anyone for them.â
He nodded.
âAnd tonight..â y/n spoke up again, âwhen you thought I wasnât coming-â
âI assumed you wouldnât need me anymore, especially after you had spent so much time with Thor.â
âLoki!â
âWhat?â
âDonât be like that!â y/n told him, sitting up, âI do need you! Iâll always need you, I need you donâ t doubt that, and not just because of stupid nightmares, because I care for you and I love you, ok?â
Loki smiled to himself, âyou love me?â
âYes you stupid-â she stopped talking because Loki had leaned in, capturing her lips in a kiss, taking no time to hesitate she leaned into him further deepening the kiss. After about a minute they pulled apart-resting their foreheads together.Â
âI love you too.â

Terrigenisis Series Masterlist    Divider by @firefly-graphics
You lounged on the lawn furniture in the back of the compound watching Dizzy run in joyful circles as Redtail made loops overhead. You had brought a tennis ball out and Dizzy was adorable as she ran around with it in her mouth. Occasionally, sheâd drop it in your laugh and youâd throw it out into the expanse of lawn. You laughed as she leapt into action each time the ball was thrown. Redtail would swoop down every now and then to tease the dog.Â
The rest of the team was out on missions or meetings. Sam, Steve, and Bucky had been sent on a mission yesterday afternoon and you were enjoying some down time. It felt like it had been some time since it had happened. You stretched lazily, basking in the feel of the sun on your skin and the feeling of contentment.Â
You hear footsteps approaching and turn to see Loki walking towards you. He had been in a meeting with Thor, Tony, and Maria Hill when you had checked earlier.Â
âHi. Howâd the meeting go?â You greet the god.Â
âIt went well. Nothing of grave importance,â Loki takes the chair next to you, âWhat are you up to?â
âRelaxing in this glorious weather,â you see his eyes take in your tank top, jean shorts, and sandals. âYou know, Iâve never seen you in anything except the leather. Is there casual wear on Asgard?â
âSimple tunics and robes but, as prince and warrior, I do not wear them often.â Loki raises an eyebrow at you.Â
âI see. What about for Tonyâs party this weekend? Will you wear this?â you motion to his attire.
âI plan to wear a suit.â Loki chuckles.Â
âI look forward to seeing that. Isnât the leather hot though? Itâs 80 today.âÂ
âI could strip for you if youâd like.â Loki smirks playfully.Â
âThatâs okay,â you hold your hands up in defeat.Â
âIs this better?â Lokiâs form shimmers for a moment before revealing him in bermuda shorts and hawaiin shirt.Â
You grin, âI like it! You look ready for a beach vacation.â You stare at Loki for a moment, wondering about his personal life. He knew a lot about you but rarely revealed much about himself. âCan I ask you something?â
âOf course, darling. Anything.â
âDo you have⌠someone? Here or on Asgard or⌠somewhere?â you stammer through the question.Â
âYour two lovers are not enough for you?â Loki chuckles.Â
âTheyâre plenty for me. You donât talk about yourself much, Lok. I mean, you donât have to tell me anything you donât want to but Iâm curious about you. Weâre friends and so I wonder, is there someone? Are you a player? Are you a monk? You know my story. You havenât given me much of yours. Have you ever been in love?â
Loki studies you for a moment and then nods as if deciding something to himself, âI suppose I would be what you Midgardians refer to as a player.â
âLove âem and leave âem?â you giggle.Â
âI suppose. Thereâs only ever been one person whoâŚâ Loki trails off.Â
âWho what?âÂ
âWho I thought I could fall for.â
âWhat happened?â You question.Â
âShe belongs to another.â Loki says as he looks away.Â
âShe belongs only to herself.â You counter.Â
âOf course. Sheâs engaged to another.âÂ
âIâm sorry.â You tell him.Â
âThank you.â Loki pauses to contemplate before asking, âAre you happy? Youâve been through a lot in your short life.â
You smile at the statement, âIâm not that young, Loki.â
âIâm over 1000 years old.â Loki deadpans.Â
âTrue,â you laugh, amazed at the lifespan of Asgardians, âYes. I am happy. This isnât what I imagined my life to be. Terrigenisis tore my world apart but you make the best of what you have. I have a family in the team, lovers in Steve and Bucky, friends, a purpose. This is⌠home.â
âAnd Iâm your friend?â Loki asks.Â
âOf course you are.â
âArenât you afraid Iâll betray you at some point? I mean, I am notorious.âÂ
âI trust you, Loki. I think I know your heart, but understand that I live by the statement, âFool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.â I may let someone make a fool of me once but I wonât let them a second time. Once you lose my trust, itâs gone and would take a great deal to earn it back,â you explain.Â
âIâll keep that in mind.â
âI have to trust you. Iâm letting you play with my brain.â
âThank you.â
âFor what?â
âGiving me a chance. Trusting me. Seeing me as something other than the villain that I was.â
âYouâre more than your past. Oh!â you exclaim when a slobber covered ball is dropped in your lap. âHi Dizz.â you laugh and throw the ball for her.Â
âShe has you well trained.â Loki smirks.Â
âThat she does. Speaking of training, are you up for another session?â you ask.Â
âSame time as always, darling. Iâll see you then.â Loki gets up.Â
âSee ya later, friend,â you watch as Loki walks back to the building, dropping the glamour to reveal his normal outfit as he walks. He sends you a brief wave before walking into the building. Your attention is pulled away when Dizzy drops the ball in your lap again. Time to play.Â
--
You get to the training room early to do some climbing and ended up in the rafters as you were known to do. You were just about to climb down when Loki entered with Thor trailing behind him.Â
âDrop it, brother,â Loki grouses at him.Â
âJust tell me you arenât playing at anything with her and I will,â Thor demands.Â
âMortals are your weakness,â Loki rolls his eyes at his brother.Â
âLove is not weakness, Loki.â
âI do not feel that way about her. She is a friend. Much like Sif is to you.â Loki says pointedly.
âThatâs all I wanted, brother,â Thor smiles.Â
You clear your throat loudly, âGood afternoon, gentlemen.â
Loki looks up at you in amusement, âHow long have you been there?â
âWell before you came in,â you wink at him.Â
Thor looks at you sheepishly, âIâll let you two get to your training.â
âOkay. See ya later,â you are holding in your giggle as you make your way to the climbing rope and jump to it. When you slide to the floor, you look into Lokiâs mischievous eyes and you both burst into laughter. When itâs spent you say dramatically, âLoki! I can no longer control myself. I must swoon into your arms!â You pretend to faint against him and he catches you.Â
âYouâre ridiculous.â Loki narrows his eyes at you.Â
âYup! And you, my friend, are stuck with me!â You stand back up.
âYou know that wonât be the last time someone will make the insinuation.â Loki says quietly.
âPeople have a hard time believing a man and woman can be just friends,â you shrug.
âThat is true. Can I ask you something?â Loki asks.Â
âOf course.â
âHypothetically, would you have been able to fall in love with me ifâŚâ Loki trails off.Â
âI donât think I would let myself fall in love with any Asgardian,â you admit.
âWhy?â
âHow old are you, Loki?âÂ
âA little over a thousand years.â
âExactly. Asgardians live for around 5,000 years, right?â
âYes.â
âThatâs why. Humans live maybe 80 years. Thatâs a blink in comparison. Iâve lost a lot of people who are important to me in my life. I donât think I could purposely put someone through that. Falling for an Asgardian, letting them fall for you, would mean making them watch you die while they live on for millenia. I donât think I could do that to someone, ever. Itâs difficult enough being friends and knowing that. Being lovers, it would be unbearable.â
Loki nods, âI couldnât have said it better myself.âÂ
You smile at him, glad he understands. âHow about we get to work?â
âLetâs go, darling.â
Over the past week, you had worked up to slipping into Lokiâs mind without the unbearable pain. It still caused a headache but you were able to see through his eyes and communicate in a similar fashion to how you did with animals. Today, you were attempting to take control of Lokiâs movement. It wasnât easy. Just lifting his hand took a toll. You drop the warg after a moment.Â
âWhatâs wrong?â Loki looks concerned.Â
âItâs difficult. The pain is worse,â you explain.
âWhy donât you warg and Iâll do some magic? Just play around a bit.âÂ
âOkay. Sounds fun,â you warg back into Loki. He begins doing some simple tricks and you watch in delight. You try to concentrate on the motions he makes, the feel of the magic flowing through him, and his thought process as he works. A picture flashes in Lokiâs mind and you catch a glimpse of a beautiful face before he forces it away.Â
âDoes she know?â You ask in his head.
âWhat?â Loki hedges.Â
âDoes she know?â you drop the warg.
âNo.â Loki says.Â
âThen sheâs not.â
âNot what?â
âSheâs not lost to you. How do you know she doesnât feel the same way?â you push.Â
âShe⌠I⌠I donât⌠She couldnât-â
âOh, Iâm gonna stop you right there. She could. She really could, but if you never told her how you feel, whatâs she supposed to do?â
âSheâs engaged.â Loki insists.
âSheâs not married, Loki. You should tell her. Wouldnât it be better to know?â
âWhat?â
âAt least then youâd know. Either she doesnât and you have closure to move on. Or she does and you two can figure it out. âBetter to have loved and lost than to never have loved at allâ, right? Better to say it and know than to spend the next few millennia wondering,â you needle.Â
âIâŚâ Loki falters with a far away look in his eyes.Â
âJust promise me youâll think about it.âÂ
âI will.â Loki nods.
âGood,â you see Lokiâs concentration is completely gone, âWhy donât we leave it for today?â
âOh. Yes, good. Iâll see you later.â Loki walks away lost in thought.Â
âLater, loverboy,â you whisper with a chuckle to yourself.

the walk to the lake-Loki Laufeyson x reader (daisy series-part 1)
hi people! i've been wanting to write a series for a while and i finally got some insparation to do it so here we are, i hope you like it as much as i do. happy reading!
my main masterlist is here!
series masterlist is here!
"y/n, are you ready?" Sif knocked on your door while you put on your shoes, ready to go out with your small group of friends.
"Yes, come in!" you answered and she opened the door, closing it back immediately after coming inside.
"Are you okay?" you looked at her with a questioning face, wondering why she seemed so... nervous?
"Yes yes, i'm fine. I'm just, excited for today." Well that was new. There wasn't anything particular to be excited about today, you were going to go to the garden with the princes like you did nearly everyday and chat.
"Can i ask why?"
"It's just, you know, it's the king and queen's anniversary next week and Thor still doesn't have a date. I was hoping he would maybe ask me today." she grinned. Oh yes, the fierce Lady Sif, one of the best warriors in Asgard, had a crush on the golden haired prince. A big one.
"Well i hope he does, i'll make sure to leave you alone with him for a while. We'll just say we're going to get drinks or something with Loki." you suggested with a smile making her jump in happiness.
"Thank you soooo much y/n, you're the best friend in the world!" she hugged you tightly making you chuckle.
"Well i try to be. And there's nothing i'd like to see more than two of my dear friends being happy." you both smiled as she let go of you.
"Okay, now we should go. They said they'd be waiting outside for us." Sif pulled you out of your room excitedly from your hand making you chuckle.
"Calm down Sif, you're going to trip over something." You walked to the garden together, hand in hand, and waved at the boys when you saw them talking about something which seemed important from the looks on their faces as they sat on some soft cushions. Loki had a really serious face on but his expression softened when he saw you. He waved back at you while smiling before turning back to his brother and telling him to talk about whatever it was later from what you heard.
"Hey boys, i hope we didn't make you wait for too long." you smiled as you pulled your hand out of Sif's grasp and sat down next to Loki. I guess you could say he was your favorite prince, the raven hair that was always carefully styled and the beautiful green eyes had an impact on you from the second you first saw him years ago when you were just a child.
"It's fine, it's only been like half an hour so no, not for too long." Thor smiled and Sif sat next to him with blushing cheeks.
"I'm glad." you put your head on Loki's shoulder, it was something you guys always did so he didn't even care, he was used to it.
"Your shirt is soft." you commented looking up to see Loki's face.
"Well mother did say she had it made from the best fabric." he smirked.
"You had to show it off didn't you?" you smiled and his smirk only grew wider. You heard Thor clear his throat before he spoke.
"Did you guys want to do something special? Mother said dinner would be ready in a few hours and she expects to see you ladies there too. We can hang out until then." Thor first looked at you and then Sif.
"It doesn't really matter, we can just chat here. Did you have anything in mind?" Sif asked.
"We thought we could walk to the lake together. It's really nice there, i want you to see it too." Loki answered her question and Sif's face lightened with excitement.
"Yes of course, we'd really like that. Right y/n?" You nodded, confirming you wanted to go there too.
"Sure, let's go." you smiled and Loki stood up, offering you his hand to help you get up. You smiled and took his hand kindly as Thor did the same gesture for Sif making her blush even more. You walked to there chatting about anything and everything.
"So, uh, are you guys bringing anyone to mother and father's party next week?" Thor asked out of nowhere when it was quiet for a bit. You turned to Loki and made a gesture like 'let's leave for a while' and he nodded.
"I just remembered, mother asked me to bring some flowers with us when we get back, we'll just pick them up with y/n. You guys talk, we won't be away for too long." Loki smiled and put a hand on your back, softly pushing you to the other side of the road where the flowers were more.
"Okay, be careful, i heard there was an insect on the flowers for the past few days." Thor warned and you nodded before turning around and leaving him alone with Sif.
"Why did you want to leave?" Loki asked after there was enough space between you and the other two where they definitely couldn't hear you.
"Sif told me she wanted to go with Thor to the party this morning and i wanted to give them some privacy." you smiled and he furrowed his eyebrows in a surprised way.
"Sif wants to go with Thor?" he asked, and you nodded.
"Of course, have you not seen the way she looks at him? I'm surprised she hasn't started drooling over Thor." you chuckled. "Oh wait, you didn't want to ask her did you? I'll be so sorry if i ruined your chance." you furrowed your eyebrows this time but he shook his head immediately.
"No, don't worry. You didn't ruin anything." he smiled and you sighed in relief.
"Okay, that's good." you smiled and turned around to look at the other two. Sif had a happy face which was a good thing. Loki cleared his throat making you turn back and look at him.
"Do you want to go with someone particular?" he asked looking into your eyes.
"Uh, no." you lied, you'd actually quite enjoy keeping his company as something more than a friend. Like you'd ever admit that to him.
"Then would you like to go with me? We don't have to call it a 'date' if you don't want to, we are good friends after all, there is nothing weird about attending an event together." he talked really fast like he thought you were going to say no.
"Loki, stop. of course i'll go with you." you smiled. "And yes, there's nothing weird about it." Did you just accidentally friendzone him? Even if he understood it like that, which seemed like he did based on the sad look on his face, it was too late now. It could sound weird if you said something about it.
"Alright, i'm glad to hear that." he smiled but he still seemed a little hurt and you wanted to punch yourself for being the cause of it. There was always some tension between you, at least you felt like there was, but neither of you ever acted on it. You had attended previous parties and celebrations together before and there had always been some flirting but every friendship has that, right?
"Which flower does your mother like the most?" you asked trying to change the subject.
"Those pink ones look alright." he pointed to them and you nodded, walking to pick some. You'd feel weird if you'd just bend down while he was behind you so you put one of your knees to the ground and picked a few flowers, trying to choose the ones with big leaves. When you turned back and didn't see Loki there you wondered where he went but your question was answered with a tap on your shoulder.
"Can i?" he pointed to your hair, he had a daisy in his hand, one of your favorite flowers.
"Sure." you smiled and nodded and he put the flower on your ear.
"You look cute like this." Loki smiled. "Not that you look any less adorable without it." he thought to himself. There was a silence between you two for a while after his comment, a comfortable one as you looked into each other's eyes. You never minded being silent and just sitting (or standing in this situation) with him, it was always relaxing. Thor's voice interrupted you and you turned to him not before noticing the slight blush on Loki's face.
"Are you guys ready to go back? I think the dinner's already ready by now." Thor asked putting his arm around Sif's waist. You looked at her and she was smiling brightly.
"Yes, let's go." you smiled and started to walk back to the palace.

The Servant - Loki x Reader - Words: 4,568
A/N: Sorry for the late posting today, I had some personal issues this morning so I haven't really been online. Hope you enjoy it! đđ
You were orphaned at a young age, never even knowing your parents. The only thing you did know about them was on your 1,000th birthday you would receive a gift from them. Something they had planned to give you even before you had been born.
Growing up was, of course, difficult but thankfully, by your 800th birthday, you'd climbed the social ladder enough to be accepted as a servant in the palace. Surprisingly enough, after almost 50 years of working there, you still had not met the royal family. You chalked it up to working mostly night shifts and didn't give it much thought.
On the morning of your 850th birthday, having had the previous night off, you had planned on sleeping in some and then making the most of your day. However, you were quite rudely woken by 2 young maids, who you were somewhat friends with, rushing into your bedroom.
"Y/N!" They exclaimed. "Get up quickly! The queen has requested to speak with you!" You blinked a few times, not believing what they'd said.
"Did I get full last night and forget about it?" You muttered. They pulled you out of bed and selected your best dress from your closet. "What does she want to see me for?" You asked as they helped you dress. Suddenly you were feeling quite nervous and very sick to your stomach.
"We can't tell you," The one girl, Alexandria, said. "But I promise you it's all good things. You'll be very happy!" The other girl, Hildegard, didn't say anything but smiled knowingly.
Before you knew it, you were being shoved through a set of doors and staring at a table full of the most delicious breakfast foods you had seen. "Good morning," A voice greeted. You looked up at the speaker and realized Queen Frigga had been sitting at the table all along.
"Oh! My queen!" You gasped, curtsying quickly. "My apologies! I didn't-"
"Do not fret, Y/N," She smiled kindly. "Please, sit with me and eat. I'm sure you're hungry."
"I-" You paused, smiling gratefully. "I am actually. Thank you." You sat down and served yourself a small amount, not wanting to appear greedy. The Queen was surprisingly easy to talk to, asking about how various things in the palace were doing while in turn she allowed you to ask different questions about palace life. You found yourself smiling and laughing with her as you both ate.
"Do you know why I called you here this morning?" She asked.
"Not the foggiest," You admitted, shaking your head. "This is quite nice, of course, but I am a bit curious."
"Today is your 850th birthday, is it not?" You nodded quickly. The Queen took a sip from her glass, before continuing. "One of my sons is in need of a new servant. The previous one just got married to a young man from Alfheim."
"How nice for her," You smiled. Your brain, however, caught up with what Frigga was implying. "Wait. You mean you want me to be a servant to the princes?"
"Not the princes, dear girl. A personal servant to one. They each have a personal servant to care for their daily needs. You are not only qualified in skill and ability, but also in age. We never assign maids that are too young to the princes. They can be," She paused, chuckling quietly. "They can be a lot to handle. However, I think you will be just fine." You were speechless, staring at the Queen in shock.
"I-yes! Of course, your majesty. I would be honored."
I have not told you which prince you will be working for," She said, raising an eyebrow in mild surprise at your immediate acceptance.
"Does it matter?" You asked. "It is an honor no matter to be working for your family directly." Frigga nodded approvingly and smiled.
"Then you will not care when I say the position is working for my son Loki?"
"My Queen, as I said before, it would be an honor. I have never heard any ill spoken of you or your sons. So why should I care who I am to be serving?"
"Your attitude and innocence will either lead to your success or your quick demise. I wish you all the best. Now come, I will show you to your new quarters."
You and Loki became fast friends. He treated you more as a peer than as a servant, especially since you came to find out the two of you were the same age. You were surprised at how easygoing the young prince was. Working directly with the royal family, you did start to hear palace gossip about them and you were disheartened to find most of it was about Loki.
One day, when you'd finished with the daily chores you had in Loki's room, which was more like an apartment, Loki walked in and flopped down on the freshly made bed.
"Loki!" You screeched. "I just made that!" You ran over, trying to stretch the quilt where he was not laying at least. Loki smirked at you and your eyes widened. "No, no, no! Loki! I know that look! What are you up to-eeee!" You squealed as he pulled you onto the bed, officially messing up all the sheets. You both laid there for a while, laughing and simply enjoying each other's company. "Why are you back so early?" You finally ask.
"Thor was feeling sick today and-" He paused, looking away sadly. "The others had better things to do."
"They didn't want to fight with you?" You asked. He shook his head and you scoffed. "You are a far better warrior than all of them combined. They should consider it an honor to fight you."
"Y/N, love, you are too kind. But-" He was interrupted by someone opening the door.
"Prince Loki, your mother requests your presence," A young girl said. One of Frigga's maids you recognized.
"Of course," He sighed. "My apologies for messing up the bed," He said, turning back to you.
"It's alright, Lo-Prince Loki," You replied. It was sometimes difficult to remember to add the honorifics on his name after becoming such close friends. But the girl was watching and you didn't want to appear disrespectful.
It took about 2 weeks for you to finally figure out what was going on. Ever since that day in Loki's room, the other servants, with the exception of your friends Alexandria and Hildegard, had avoided you like the plague. But today it all came out. You were in the laundry about to fold the clothes Loki had asked you to wash when you heard two maids talking a few tables away. One was Frigga's maid and they were obviously unaware of your presence in the room.
"They were in bed together!" She whispered scandalously.
"No!" The other gasped. "Tell me more!"
"The sheets were quite a mess. You could tell there had been quite a bit of," She paused briefly, smirking. "Activity." The two of them laughed quietly. "And that isn't even the worst! She almost called him by his name without a title! And he even called her âloveâ!"
"Oh my!" The girl gasped. "I suppose it makes sense. She is Prince Loki's personal servant. And I suppose she should serve him personally," She winked. "Although I do not understand why he would be interested in a thing like her?"
"A whore does not have to be pretty to be talented," Frigga's maid replied. The other girl hummed in agreement.
Hot tears fell down your cheeks. You bit back a sob and hurriedly gathered Loki's clothes in a basket. You ran out of the room and straight to Loki's quarters. As much as you wanted to hide away you had to finish your chores but you couldn't stay there. When you reached his room you placed the basket on the bed as it was the best spot to use like a table. Looking at the bed though, you burst into tears, falling to your knees beside the bed.
"Norns! I've never wanted to stab someone so much!" Loki yelled, bursting into the room. You gasped, standing up quickly, trying to dry your tears.
"What happened?" You asked, turning away from him so he couldn't see your face and trying to keep your voice even.
"Odin! Blasted Odin! He dared to imply that-argh! That man, he dares to call himself a king much less a father-" Loki yelled. He was so angry he couldn't even finish a sentence. You patiently listened, trying to finish folding his clothes.
"What did he say?" You asked quietly.
"He implied things," Loki said vaguely. "About my behavior."
"Has he not done so before?" You asked, slightly confused as to what made him so upset today. Loki shook his head.
"Not like this. He-" Loki winced slightly, hesitant to explain. "He wasn't just talking about me in this instance."
"Ah," You said. "So who's honor has you so upset? Lady Sif's perhaps?"
"Why would I be upset over her?" He exclaimed, finally looking up at you. Rushing over to you he grabbed your hands, pulling you closer to him. "Darling! What happened? Why are you crying?" You pulled away quickly, wrapping your arms around yourself.
"Please don't call me that!" You cried. "I-I'm sorry, Lo-Prince Loki. I am not feeling too well. Could I be excused to my quarters? I will send someone to finish with your laundry." Loki nodded slowly, very confused, and you ran off.
As you ran down the hallway, you collided with someone and you both fell down. "Y/N! Where's the fire?" Alexandria laughed as she got up. She reached to help you and saw your tears. "Who hurt you?" She asked.
"I'm just not feeling well," You lied.
"That is a pitiful excuse. What is wrong?" She ordered. As you walked to your room with her, you explained everything. "Oh honey! I'm so sorry that happened! You stay here. I'll send Hildegard to bring you some food and I'll go take care of Loki's laundry. Ok?" You nodded sadly and laid down as Alexandria hurried out. A few hours later, after you forced down part of the dinner Hildegard had brought you, there was a light knock at your door.
"Come in," You said, voice hoarse from crying. Slowly your door opened and a raven-haired man peeked in.
"Y/N?" Loki said, stepping in carefully. "How are you doing?" You wanted to scream at him for coming. You wanted to tell him to leave. But you were tired.
"Sadly, I am alive." Loki chuckled lightly and sat on the edge of your bed.
"For that I am very much glad," He smiled, resting a hand on your arm. "Alexandria told me what happened." You stiffened at his comment, every worst possible scenario rushing through your mind. "That's actually what Odin was speaking of earlier. He said that I was of age now and, well, he said there would be no consequences if I chose to find, how did he put it? Comfort? In one of my maids?"
"I see," You said slowly. "That-that makes sense," You continued, sitting up in bed, hands in your lap. "After all you are the prince and you have more important things to worry about than where to sate your needs." You looked away, nervous at what his reaction would be. You would be lying if you said you didn't want to be with him. But you definitely didn't want to be an object. Something he simply used and then ignored when it was no longer needed.
"Oh my dear friend," Loki sighed. "Do you truly think so little of yourself? Why do you think I was so upset earlier? After my meeting with Odin?" He brushed the stray strands of hair out of her face, ones that had fallen out of place while she slept. Turning her head towards him he smiled at her, eyes brimming with tears. "You are far too precious to be treated like that. I would never want to treat anyone so,â He crinkled his nose, searching for the right word. âSo insignificant.â
"I appreciate that, Loki," You replied, blushing slightly. "But that doesn't change what they think. I'm so sorry. It's not your fault. Perhaps I should go away. At least I wouldn't hear any of the rumors they have to tell."
"No! Please don't go!" He immediately said, reaching out to hold onto you as if you'd take off right then. Running one hand through his hair he sighed. "Perhaps this isn't a good time to tell you."
"Tell me what?" You asked, reaching out to touch his hand but hesitated slightly, nervous as to how he would react. Loki stared at you, watching your movement. He took you hand in his and chuckled dryly.
"I care for you deeply, Y/N. You're my closest friend but," He paused. "But I wish for more. I love you. Very much. If you don't feel the same way I understand. If you want a transfer or want to leave I can have that arra-"
"No!" You yelled, interrupting him. "No! I don't want to go! I-" You gasped. "I love you too!" You laughed happily. "I just never thought you'd feel the same way!" Loki grinned, hugging you tightly.
"I promise to love you till the end of time," He whispered. Stroking your tear-stained cheek gently with his thumb he smiled sadly. "I know things will not be easy for you with the other servants. And I will try my best to make things right. But please come to me, darling. I never want to see you suffering alone."
"Okay," You said, smiling gratefully. He leaned forward and kissed you softly, chastely.
"If I am going to court you, we're going to do this right," He said. "I shall speak with the Allfather and Allmother today."
To your great happiness, they allowed Loki to court you. However, to your surprise, they never agreed when he asked to marry you. 1 year turned into 10. 10 into 100. Soon you had found yourself having courted Loki for over 200 years. They had gone by in the blink of an eye it seemed and, though you both wished to marry, you were happy as long as you were by each other's side. Loki had asked for your hand so many times that Frigga and Odin began to answer him before he even asked. He never stopped asking though.
One day, as you neared your 1,000th birthday, you woke in the middle of the night to a loud clatter in the hallway followed by a curse. You giggled, recognizing Loki's voice, and ran to open the door.
"Loki!" You whisper-yelled. "What are you doing? It's 3am!"
"Y/N!" He exclaimed. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you. I simply knocked over a-"
"Loki, it's ok," You chuckled. However, you noticed he was unusually quiet and wouldn't look at you. "Loki? Is something wrong?" He slowly looked at you, a cool expression taking over his face.
"I was leaving you a note on the door. You'll have a new assignment in the morning."
"Oh! Loki! Did they finally say yes?" You asked excitedly, running towards him. He quickly backed away from you, shaking his head vigorously.
"No," He said. "I-I think it best we don't see each other any more. Therefore I asked for a change in your assignment."
"I don't believe you," You replied. Loki's expression contorted into one of anger.
"If you don't believe me then go read the note I left you! After all this time you don't even trust me?" He yelled.
"Loki!" You hissed, grabbing his arm before he could back away. "I trust you with my life. Don't make this into that argument. We've been over it already. I meant I don't believe what you're saying. I don't think you truly wish our relationship to end. I think someone or something has gotten to you or threatened you and I think you're trying to 'make it easier on me' by making me hate you before you go. Well guess what? It's not going to work. We promised each other to be in love till the end of time and I, for one, am keeping my end of the bargain so if you don't get in here, sit down, and explain to me what's going on I'll go to Frigga myself and ask her."
"Okay," Loki agreed, suddenly looking tired and defeated. Following you into your room he sat on the edge of your bed, fidgeting with his hands. "Your birthday is coming up," He said.
"Yes, it is," You replied, sitting next to him. "What does that matter?"
"Recently, my mother told me that your parents left you a gift for your 1,000th birthday." You nodded, wondering where he was going with this. "I am," He paused. "Familiar with a custom of certain families, usually ones of higher ranking, that they give their daughters a husband on her 1,000ths birthday. And-" He took a shaky breath, looking away. "I fear that is why we've never been allowed to marry. I think Mother knows what your gift is."
"Oh," You said. "I-I never thought of that. I never dreamt-" You started to cry, suddenly afraid of being taken away from the love of your life. Loki pulled you into his arms and kissed your forehead softly. No more words were exchanged. Loki and you eventually fell asleep reclined on your bed, you cradled protectively in his arms.
The day finally came. You were 1,000 years old by Asgardian terms and you were terrified. One of Odin's servants came to you with a request for your presence at breakfast and an excuse from all your duties that day. You bit your lip nervously. Not having to work today meant you had no real excuse to see Loki before breakfast. You hoped he would be there at least.
"Good morning, Y/N," Frigga smiled as you walked into the dining room. You curtsied and forced a smile back.
"Your highness," You greeted. Odin walked in the room and nodded at you before taking his seat at the head of the table. You curtsied again and then heard Thor coming in with his usual ruckus. Turning around you saw Thor physically dragging Loki into the dining room. The latter quickly walked in on his own when he saw you already there.
"Y/N!" Loki exclaimed, running up to you and hugging you tightly. You giggled and hugged him back. Odin cleared his throat pointedly and the two of you quickly pulled away. Frigga shot her husband a glare and then smiled softly at you and Loki. You all sat down, you and Frigga on one side, the two Odinsons on the other side, and Odin at the head, while the servants brought out the food. You tried to help them but Frigga tapped your arm and motioned for you to sit.
"You're a guest today, my dear girl," She said. You nodded, feeling awful for not helping. Eventually, the meal was finished, though you ate very little, and Odin stood up.
"Today is a special day," He boomed, smiling at you. "I will skip over a long and flowery speech since I care for those very little and I'm sure you are anxiously awaiting your gift." You looked away, a bit embarrassed that it was so obvious. "Do not be upset," He chuckled. "There is nothing wrong with your excitement." You looked up at him again and smiled slightly. Loki was right all these years, it was odd to see Odin happy. Somehow his cheerful attitude doubled your nerves.
"Are you ok, brother?" Thor whispered to Loki on the other side of the table.
"I'll be fine," Loki snapped. He shot an apologetic look at Thor and nodded. "Just worried," He added. Thor nodded and patted his brother's shoulder firmly.
"This paper, a letter," Odin said. "Was written to you, Y/N, by your parents shortly after your birth. As you can see, it is sealed with my seal and has not been opened. I, myself, as well as the Queen were present at it's writing." He broke open the seal and started reading.
"Our dearest Y/N, our love, our daughter,
You may not get to see it until much later, but to us, your parents, your eyes hold a bright future. You've yet to say a single word but you've got us wrapped around your little finger. We can't wait to see what a beautiful woman you'll become. We have lain a path for you before birth and now that you're here, it is time to take your first steps in this new and exciting world. No matter what, you will always have our love and support whenever your life shall lead you. Whether we're far or near, we will always be there with you, every step of the way.
As we said, we have something planned for you. Something that will allow you to fulfill your greatest dreams and something that we hope will give you all the happiness in the world.
Many moons ago, your father saved a man's life in battle. The man promised to repay that debt. It was agreed that our families would be joined by the future marriage of our children. The man later had a son, and we, of course, had you."
At this point, hot tears were streaming down your face. As happy as you were to hear how much your parents cared for you. You now knew Loki's fears were correct. This was why you'd never been allowed to marry him. Each word suddenly became as a stab to your heart. Loki, for his part, was not faring any better as he listened.
"That man was our wonderful King, Odin. We hope you, our lovely Y/N, find all the joys you could ever hope for in your marriage to his son.
We want you to know how much we love you and we wish you all the happiness possible as long as you live.
Your parents ~"
Loki's chair screeched as he stood abruptly. Your head snapped up to look at him but he was already storming through the dining room doors.
"Father?" Thor said uneasily, looking quickly between Odin, you and the door through which Loki had left. "What's the meaning of this?"
"Well, my son," Odin said with a wide smile. "It means that Y/N has been promised to-"
"No!" You exclaimed, standing up. "Thor," You said, looking at him. "I love you like a brother. You'll be a fine husband one day but I'd rather die before I marry you." Turning to Odin you saw a frown painting his face. "Throw me in the dungeons, kill me, whatever you wish, but I will not marry Thor. I love Loki and I could never hurt him in such a way."
"My child-" Odin started to say but you ignored him, running out of the room. "Guard!" Odin yelled, calling for one to go after you.
"Husband," Frigga said softly. "Let her be for now. Perhaps there can be a solution." Odin reluctantly agreed and Frigga sat beside him to reason with him. Thor quietly slipped out, feeling rather awkward.
He wandered out to a secluded part of the gardens, a spot he knew Loki loved to hide in. He smiled sadly when he found you curled up in Loki's arms at the base of a willow tree. "I won't do it," You sobbed, gripping his shirt tightly as you cried into it.
"You have to," Loki said, running his hands soothingly over your back. Although his was just as upset, he was trying to be strong for you. "It's been decided," He whispered. "At least you'll be safe and cared for. Thor may be my oaf of a brother but he'll treat you well."
"No I won't," Thor said walking up. "Well, not that I would-" He sighed frustratedly. "I mean that I won't take her." Loki looked up at his brother in surprise.
"Brother, what-"
"Loki," Thor said, sitting down beside his brother. "She refused me already," He chuckled. "Father was not happy but I believe Mother is trying to change his mind." He clapped Loki's shoulder and smiled. "She's yours. I would never dare take that away from you." The three of you sat in silence for some time before Frigga came and found you.
"My children, please come back to the dining hall. I have spoken with Odin and we've made a decision." Reluctantly you followed Frigga, holding tightly to Loki's hand.
As you walked into the dining room, Odin stood up and smiled at you. It was a forced smile, but a smile nonetheless. "Y/N, you have refused to marry Thor, correct?" You nodded immediately. "And Thor, you have refused to marry Y/N?"
"I cannot take her away from my brother, from their happiness." Odin nodded thoughtfully.
"Well then, here is my decision," Odin said. Frigga cleared her throat pointedly, shooting him another glare. "Our decision," He corrected. "This letter was written a few months after you were born, Y/N. Although we'd made the agreement before your birth, it did not go into effect until it was written." He sighed loudly and looked back at the paper. "And by this time Loki was already in our lives." Loki looked at you hopefully, squeezing your hand lightly. "And the letter does not specify which son you are promised to. So it is my great pleasure," He said somewhat sarcastically. "To give you to my son Loki as a bride. Will that be acceptable?"
"Yes!" You exclaimed. "Yes! Oh thank you!" You were nearly screaming in excitement. Loki was frozen in surprise, having never expected his father to give in to their wishes.
"Really?" He asked in almost a whisper. Frigga nodded at him and hugged her son. "Thank you!" He said. Turning to you he smiled widely, hugging you tightly and spinning you around. You laughed as he spun you, happy beyond your wildest dreams.
"Oh Loki!" You cried as he put you down. "I love you so much!" He grinned, kissing you earnestly.
"I love you too, my queen," He smiled. You blushed brightly, looking away.
"Enjoy your day together," Frigga said. "Tomorrow we can make the announcement and start making plans." You both nodded and hurried off to the gardens again, this time much happier.
"And to think all this started because your previous servant got married suddenly," You mused as you walked through the gardens arm in arm.
"Oh it wasn't sudden at all," He said. You stopped in your tracks, staring at him in surprise. "We'd been planning for her departure for some time. I had seen you working and quite liked you but you weren't old enough to be a servant of the royal family yet." Your eyes widened with every word. "I made mother wait to find me a replacement until you had your birthday."
"You chose me?" You gasped. He smiled, turning to face you and brushing a few stray hairs away from your face.
"I will always choose you," He said, smiling widely. "For all time."
"Always."

Loki x Sylvie Post-Finale Fanfiction (Angst, Rated Teen) Part 2 of 2
Part 1 is here:
She never knew it would hurt this much when the person she loves is right in front of her, but she can't reach out and touch him; when she is still her, he is still him, but everything else has changed, like an invisible lever in an old theatre changing the scenery in the background, bringing them both to the part of the play where they are hopelessly lost.
All it took was one single moment, one single decision, and everything feels irrevocably broken now. It makes her contemplate on the true nature of relationships, how fragile they are, and how easy it is to shatter them- and her.
The smoke is slowly clearing, and all that seems to be left is a man who is doing his best to keep his distance from her, physically and emotionally.
She can tell from the way he stands with his arms crossed, or his fists clenced when his hands are by his side, that he really doesn't want to hold her hand. How can something so simple as the touch of his fingers be so vital to her existence that it feels like something has been ripped out from inside her?
She wants to reach out and touch him, but she is scared that if he pulls away outright, any hope of reconciliation that she still has left will shatter into pieces.
And she really needs this hope. It's the only thing she still has left. It's the only thing that keeps her going.
---
He looks like a man with a mission.
They spent quite a long time together, running from the TVA, running towards the citadel at the end of time, hoping to achieve their goal of bringing down the one behind the curtains.
But that was her mission, and he was there for her. She was the one behind the wheels, he was the one keeping the sails afloat.
Now it's different. Now he has a defined goal, a glorious purpose.
She's seeing him in a whole new light now, and not just because he has switched to Asgardian leather and metal armors.
As far as she is concerned, she is better off doing it all alone. One woman army, nobody to get in her way, nobody to screw up her plans. Nobody to blame her if it all goes to shit.
Or so it was, until two months ago, when Mobius decided to enlist her help in fixing the multiversal madness.
She has never really worked with people before, and it's weird, to say the least. She never considered herself a team player, but she is finding herself hating the idea less and less lately.
And she swears it has nothing to do with him. Not the fact that they are working together, and seeing his face first thing in the morning brings her a sense of calm that she quite can't explain. Or the fact that their rooms are next to each other and it makes her feel secure enough to finally get some rest at nights. Or that this whole arrangement has kept them on talking terms, when they had gone their own separate ways otherwise.
Nothing to do with that at all.
---
Humans are stupid, and the biggest evidence of this is how they decided that two extremely powerful Gods skilled at magic, enchantment, and defeating an evil extra dimensional cloud that swallows everything it touches, should be delegated to the role of research. "You're clever. You're good at reading people. You can put yourselves in the shoes of the bad guys, no offense", they said, but really, what they meant was, "We can't trust you out in the field much." She knows it, he knows it. She just doesn't know why he's complying.
That's how they find themselves researching every single day.
She likes to think he's not the only reason why she's studying in the library instead of in the comfort of her room, but that'd be a lie.
At first, he chooses to sit at a separate table. But she keeps going over to his to "get his opinion" on something in the file she's reading, and finally, he gives in. Their current arrangement consists of him sitting in the chair in front of her, to the left, prim and proper, while she hoists her feet up on the table.
He falls asleep on the desk one night, face smacked against a file, the tiniest bit of drool forming at the corner of his mouth. It would be a hilarious sight, if her heart wasn't feeling what she can only describe as longing.
They should probably talk about it, like mature adults, but neither of them know how to do that.
All she can do right now is gather the courage to run her fingers through his hair. The touch is hesitant at first, as if one wrong move would make him wake up and push her back to square one. Slowly, she relaxes, letting her fingers dance on his scalp.
He stirs in his sleep. "Please Sif. I'm sorry. Don't cut off my glorious locks, please."
Now this is a story she must hear when things are better.
If things are better.
---
Doctor Strange joins them very briefly, very rarely, but the tension between him and Loki is hard to miss. It's worse than the current situation with her, and that's saying something.
"You don't really like Stephen, do you?"
Something inside him seems to shift, but he masks it behind a non-chalant look immediately and just arches an eyebrow at her. "He's Stephen now, is he?"
"Well, that is his name." She shrugs. "What do you call him?"
"Strange", he spits the word out with an amount of irritation that indicates there definitely is a story there. "That is his name", he mimics.
She can't help the smirk that spreads across her lips. "What did he do to you?"
"Nothing", he lies, ignoring the horrifying flashbacks of thirty minutes of endless falling. Not a single soul must ever know a mere human got the best of him. "What can he do to me? I'm a God among those mortals. He just irks me because he is so pompous, and arrogant, and he ceaselessly uses magic to toy with others."
She pretends to think deeply. "Now where have I seen that before?"
He scoffs. "You mock me, but I am nothing like him. For one, I am not rude."
"He seems fine to me", she declares decisively.
It's the first time in months that he gives her a cheeky grin. "That's because you're rude too."
---
They are still just containing the threats to their world, instead of finding a way to fortify the barriers between worlds and stop the threats from coming.
"Shouldn't we have a plan to seal off the other worlds from ours?" She asks him one day.
"They are working on it." He tells her, and then with a look of worry, adds, "I hope."
There are debates on what to do at the Avengers tower and at the TVA. Nobody seems to agree on what the best course of action is, but everyone seems to be following the general instructions of Doctor Strange.
During one such meeting, a Minuteman makes the mistake of voicing out loud how she wondered if things would be better if they were running according to their old boss's plans.
Sylvie feels the guilt wash over her once more.
"No", Loki tells them all firmly. The determination in his voice takes her completely by surprise. "Evil is evil. Lesser, greater, middling, makes no difference. The degree is arbitrary. The definitionâs blurred." She catches him steal a glance at her direction. "We couldn't have left a dictator in charge just because it's convenient. Listen, I'm the bad guy. I've done horrible, unspeakable things. I thought humans needed to be ruled. I wanted to rule. But even I know that it's not right to take away a person's life completely. These are innocent people. You are innocent people. You have families back home, parents, children", a pause and a softening of his features, "-love. A whole past, a whole future. That man had no right to take it away from you."
His powers of persuasion are foreign to her, and it's mesmerizing to watch. Her enchantments cannot hold a candle to how he is able to just talk people into doing what he wants, thinking what he thinks, seeing what he sees.
"He who remains had a plan. One, singular plan, from one, singular man." There is absolute conviction in his voice. "It's not the only way. We'll find another way. A better way."
She has never known what it is like to have someone see you for who you are- broken and flawed, and defend you- even your well-intentioned actions that yielded different results than what you expected and hurt them in the process. She suspects it has been the same for him, a lifetime of not having anyone have his back.
The warm feeling inside her is brand new. What is the name of this? Comfort? Relief?
Happiness?
---
This will be their first time out in the field in a long time, and she feels a little sick to the stomach.
He notices. "Are you alright?"
The concern in his voice tugs at her heartstrings. She nods. She has faced way worse, she shouldn't be so nervous about this, but she is. "I've never done this before."
"We can always just kill him and blame it on the Chitauris", he suggests with a serious face.
"I heard that", Peter yells from the other room, where he is doing whatever it is that teenagers do to prepare for battle.
She shakes her head in disbelief. "I can't believe we're babysitting."
"I've done this before", he assures her, and it surprises her to picture him being entrusted with such a serious task. "The trick is to conjure up illusions that keep them distracted enough to not cry."
She laughs. "You're thinking of infants. This one is a little older."
"I'm over a thousand years old, Sylvie. They're all infants to me."
Peter joins them, mask covering his face so that he doesn't reveal his identity. "So what do I call you? Loki and Loki? That's confusing. How about Loki and Lady Loki? Or is that offensive? I'm not suggesting women are inferior, because they're absolutely not..."
"Does he come with an off switch?" She whispers in horror as Peter rambles on.
Loki grins. With one wave of his hand and a flash of green, Peter's own webbing shoots out and seals his mouth shut.
---
Things are fine but not fine at the same time. He's right there beside her, but not there at all. They have their banters, they have their stolen glances, but they haven't had a meaningful conversation since that first day when she got back. She's been putting it off for a long time, but she knows they really do need to have the talk.
She corners him in his room one evening while he's tinkering with a temporal collar. She takes a seat in the chair next to his bed and rests her hand on the table, leaning her head against her palm, before switching position and crossing her arms and legs. Everything about her posture screams uneasiness. If he notices- he probably does- he doesn't say anything.
"You defended me that day."
He briefly looks up from the task at hand and gives her a soft smile. "Of course."
She blinks. "I don't understand." Her hands involuntary rise up to rub her temples. "If you can justify my actions to them, then how can you still be mad at me?"
"I'm not mad at you", he says without missing a beat.
"Rubbish", her words come out angrier than she intended. This frustration is the result of the months of status quo they have had. She has to know now, one way or the other. "You're distant. You're guarded", she accuses. Then her voice breaks, as she feels a part of her break all over again with her next words. "You don't hold my hand. Why? Tell me."
He abandons the collar and focuses his full attention on her. Staring straight into her eyes, he answers her. "You know why."
"I wouldn't be asking if I did. Look, if it's because I chose the mission over you-"
"-Of course it's not that." He says decisively. Then a sad smile clouds his face. It's the same look he had when she accused him of conning her to gain the throne. "Do you think I'm the type of man who would want a woman to abandon her life-long ambitions just because she has met someone?"
She knows he isn't. But it still doesn't answer why he is so cross with her. "What is it then?"
He pauses for a moment, trying to decide whether he wants to bare his soul out to her once more or not. There are two ways he can go from here- choose to not let her in again and save himself from the hurt, or trust her again and open himself up to potential pain.
Who is he kidding? Pushing her away- keeping her away- doesn't hurt any less.
There were a thousand things that had to go wrong to bring two Lokis from two universes together. A connection like that, it doesn't just happen.
And it doesn't just go away. The pain is constant, it's a part of him, pounding like a second heart every second he has to stop himself from reaching out for her hand.
This has to come to an end.
He takes in a deep breath, bracing himself. "You didn't have to send me away, Sylvie. I wanted to stop you from making the same mistakes I did. But in the end, I didn't care what you chose. I just wanted us to do it together."
She never even imagined this could be the reason for his hurt. All these months spent thinking he hates her for her choices, and now it turns out he is hurt simply because she chose to do it alone? "I'm sorry." She says sincerely. "I just wanted you to be safe."
"And I just wanted to be there with you till the end." He confesses. His eyes shimmer with the emotions he has kept bottled in for so long. "You go, I go."
She doesn't know what to say to that. She has never been good at articulating her feelings. Tears stream down her cheeks at the realisation that even after everything, he is still there for her.
She didn't cry even back at Lamentis when they thought they were going to die. She doesn't let anyone see her cry when she is sad or scared. That's all she has known her whole life. She's used to it by now.
This is new. These are tears of relief. Comfort.
Happiness.
Tentatively, she crosses over to the bed and sits by his side.
It's quiet for a few minutes. But unlike the months of tension so thick she could cut it into splices with her daggers, this is comfortable silence. The kind they had before it all went wrong.
"Did you even miss me?" He whispers.
"What kind of silly question is that? Of course I did." Her shaking hands grab his, and oh how she missed this.
He intertwines their fingers. His eyes draw closed. Bliss. That's the only word for this feeling.
He opens his eyes again and studies her. She's staring back at him, teary-eyed, but with a hopeful smile. "Really? Because you have a really unique way of showing it. You didn't even come looking for me."
"I didn't know how to face you", she tells him honestly. No tricks, no enchantment, no treachery. Not with him. "I didn't know if you even wanted to see me." Her voice grows quieter, dropping to a timbre that perfectly encapsulates her deepest fear. "I thought you hated me."
"Hate you?" He is shocked that she thinks that is even possible, specially after seeing him these last few months. "Sylvie, I'm working with the Avengers. The Avengers. Do you know how much I hate them? They are my nemesis. They're self-righteous, condescending, and so completely dull. Every second with them makes me want to rip their hearts out. Why do you think I'm here with them?"
She thinks she knows. But she needs to hear it anyway.
"It's because of you." He lays it all out on the table. All cards on deck, win or lose. "You've been running away. I have been the one who has been here, trying to hold down the fort, working to fix everything. Because that is what one does when one loves-"
Shit. The word slips out before he realises it.
Their eyes go wide in unison.
"Sylvie, I-"
"-Don't you dare take it back now." She warns him. "I-" She doesn't know how to say it either. They make such a great pair, both equally daft at saying how they feel, like they are teenagers, not Gods who have lived for centuries. "I've been running because I didn't think I could bear the burden of knowing I found you and then I lost you. I don't want to lose you. Not now, not ever."
He kisses the back of her hand, before letting it go. He cups her face, gently caressing her cheeks with his thumbs. "I don't want to lose you either."
She leans in closer, until their foreheads touch. She can feel his breath on her face, warm and soft. That is exactly how she feels inside. "You won't", she promises. "You go, I go."

A Drop of Poison - Ch. 4: An Invitation
A Loki fanfiction!
Previous Chapter --- Next Chapter
Full Chapter List
-----------------------------------------------
âYouâre late!â Valkyrie said, stuffing a pancake into her mouth as you approached her table in the Great Hall. âAnd you look like shit.â
You could feel the papery dryness of your eyes. Each blink felt grating. âI didnât have a great sleepâŚâ you said, hoping that your face did not give away the perpetual embarrassment you felt every time you thought about what happened the night before.
âWas it the dream again?â Valkyrie said, handing you a plate she filled with hash browns and eggs.
You took it gratefully. âNo, I...went to the restricted section of the library last night,â you said, looking down at your plate. An image of Professor Laufeysonâs bare chest flashed before your eyes and you nearly dropped your fork.
âWhat!â She spoke so loud that several of the people surrounding you and at the other tables glanced at you both.
âShhh! Donât be so loud,â you whispered.
âYou went without me,â she said, stuffing a mushroom into her mouth.
âIt couldnât wait, but I didnât even find what I was looking for,â you said.
âAnd what was that?â
You were about to speak when you saw Professor Laufeyson enter the Great Hall. You nearly choked on your hash browns when he glanced at you. âI have to go,â you said and ran out of the hall.
You did not look back, and you did not stop walking until you realized you were back at the library. Your subconscious seemed to have a sense of humour that you did not find particularly funny. As you stood at the door like a deer in the headlights, someone nearly body checked you to the side as they entered the library.
âOut of the way, mudblood,â he said. His blue hair was striking in the daylight.
âWatch it, Talon,â you said.
He turned to you with a glare, then he smiled coldly and walked on.
You nearly rolled your eyes straight to the back of your head. Talon, the one person you would not mind using one or two of the unforgivable curses on. Just a bit of the Imperious to make him wet his pants in class, maybe? Nothing too awful. You still remember the way he laughed when he stuffed you and one other student into a Shrinking Shed in a pawnshop in Knockturn Alley. It was only your second year, and you berated yourself for trusting any wizard that said they âhad something cool to show youâ since that day. The poor boy you were stuck with broke his arm and may have broken the other, lest Professor Heimdall had not come by the shop; by that time the shed was half the size of a fridge. You still hated confined spaces from that day onwards.
He walked towards a blonde Slytherin girl trying to finish her homework at a large table. She looked less than pleased at his interruption. You rolled your eyes and moved on.
Your thoughts drifted back to the previous night as you headed to the back of the library. And just like that, it transported you into a completely different head space. Professor Laufeyson. You thought about his smooth skin and the way the moonlight glinted off the sweat on his body.
Thinking of him like that put you in a sort of daze, where you were so embarrassed you thought you might die but also so intrigued that you could not stop yourself from wondering. You paused where you were and gazed at the restricted section. From there, you could see the table where he had...relations with Professor Sif. You remembered her panting and writhing in pleasure. The entire night you had thought about only one thing. What did that feel like?
You knew how your own fingers felt, and despite how wonderful that was, you had always been curious about something more. Valkyrie had described it to you in visceral detail several times. She had said that if the person knew what they were doing, that it could be amazing. Higher than high. But if the person only cared about themselves, it could be quite awful. From the looks of it, Professor Laufeyson knew what he was doing.
Something about him felt different. Enticing. The way his lean muscles flexed as he gripped the edges of the table and the way his eyes glowed. Heat coursed through you, and the muscles in your stomach tightened. You had not been this bothered in all your life and had a fleeting thought of whether there was a way to quit Potions class. You rubbed your eyes and face. The book. That was what you came here for.
âAre you alright?â A sweet voice said.
You opened your eyes; it was Pom. She was carrying four large textbooks and placed them on a study table between the aisles.
Putting on your most convincing smile, you said, âIâm fine, I was just looking for a book.â
âOh? What one?â she said, her eyes lit up.
Pom did frequent the library. Perhaps she could be of use. âItâs about cats, common spells for cats.â
She gave you a look.
âNo, Iâm serious! I just really love cats,â you said. It was not a lie, though you preferred reptiles.
âWell, where is it supposed to be?â
You thought about how to put it. âWell, thatâs the thing. I was informed that it would be in one place, but itâs no longer there. And I donât think anyone checked it out.â
Pom thought about it for a moment. Then her eyes lit up. âMaybe itâs a switcher!â
âSwitcher?â
She nodded with an excited smile. âIâve only ever encountered one of them. But there was once a book that my brother and I were looking for. I heard it was the journal of a student who created their own spells. And I think we found it, but right before Ken could pick it up from the shelf, it faded and disappeared. About two months later, I saw it again, on the other side of the library. I reached for it, but it disappeared. I talked to one of our senior prefects and she told me thereâs a rumour about books in the library. Apparently, some of them like to disappear and reappear. Nobody knows how to catch them, but thereâs a theory that theyâll come to you if you need them.â
You raised your eyebrows at the thought of disappearing books. Of course the book you needed to find was evading you. âSo if I need it badly enough...I might find it?â You said.
Pom nodded with an unsure smile. You thanked her as she picked up her pile of books and wandered off to study.
A bright pink guide on potions stood out as you looked at the shelves. Flora and Fawna for Beginners. You sighed. This was going to be a long day.
So you roamed. You roamed the bookshelves for hours, reading every title, every author name and every little scroll in the cabinets. It was tedious beyond belief and you stopped to rest a few times. After your third hour of wandering the library and receiving strange looks from the students you passed by for the thirtieth time, you sighed and sat right on the floor, in between the Magical Creatures and Astrocentric Religions sections. Your stomach rumbled from hunger and you wondered if it was time to give up yet. So much for your investigation. It felt quite less glamorous when you were at the start of it and all you could muster up was sitting on your bottom with an empty stomach and dry hands.
You looked out the window at the end of the aisle; the day was overcast again. It has been raining non stop this season. You got up, defeated, and ready to find some food. Suddenly, there was a sharp bang on the window and you turned to see what it was. A dark smudge was streaked across the glass and you walked up to it for a closer look. You nearly jumped a foot in the air when another bird flew into the window. It fell and you could not see where it landed, but you wondered if it was dead.
A few more birds banged into the windows, and other students got up from their chairs to see the disturbance. One girl gasped so loudly that the librarian had to come over and calm everyone down. The librarian looked at the windows and grumbled to herself as she went out to inform someone of the mess.
You walked across the aisles to observe the other windows, and each one was streaked with a dark red stain. As you walked by the first year selection of books near the front of the library, you noticed in the corner, on the bottom shelf there was a new title. Something you had not noticed before. The spine was dark red and your eyes widened at the title âSpells for the Common House Catâ.
Nearly diving for the book, you crouched down and grabbed it, thinking it would disappear right before your eyes. But, you held it in your hands and yelled out a âyes!â This earned you a shush from the students who were studying.
You were so elated to read the book once you returned to the common room that you nearly ran into the door as you exited the library. It was already an hour past dinner at the Great Hall; you imagined Valkyrie had stuffed her face full already and probably wondered where you were. You picked up your pace and raced through the halls with meat pies on your mind and the book in your hands. The texture was of a smooth aged leather, with odd scratches along the spine and cover. The writing on the cover was a rushed scrawl with black ink and you flipped through the inside, only to see pages and pages of the same hurried writing. There was one passage that caught your eye:
Informed though we may be of my house we are not warned to eat live snakes. Wish you well my balloon animal friend. Did you know hats wore cow bells on their noses? Bells bells bells! Nasty business wandering through the dry sun. If there is one watered down lion to know, itâs Muriel and her tacky shoes.
You were so perplexed you said aloud, âWhat the fu-â
A hard body stopped your momentum, and you fell right on your rear onto the floor. The book fell out of your hands and you rubbed your nose where it was bumped. âIâm so sorry, I-â You looked up and your mouth went dry.
Professor Laufeyson was standing above you, with your book in his hand, and his eyebrows slightly raised. You saw the recognition in his gaze as he assessed you and a whisper of a smile appeared on his lips; it disappeared again into his usual stoic expression. You remained on the floor and stared at him for several seconds, as if you were paralyzed.
He reached down and helped you up. âWe keep bumping into one another, donât we, Miss Eves?â He said, throwing you a smile that almost knocked you down again.
âY-yes, I suppose so.â
He handed you the book, glancing at the title. âInteresting literature, is it for your classes or for pleasure?â
You bit the inside of your cheek. âJust for fun.â
âAh, and is this a title you found in your evening forays into the library?â He said, leaning close so you could see the flecks of lighter blue in his eyes.
Your heart skipped a beat. He knew. He knew. Oh god. He knew. Your mind made a split second decision.
âIâm not sure what you mean, sir,â you said, gripping the book tightly against your body.
Professor Laufeyson chuckled and leaned against the wall, further away from you. You breathed a little easier. âIt seems that a student has been out of bed and has seen things she should not have,â he said, crossing his arms. His eyes looked down at you with a mocking sort of sternness. âIt could lead to expulsionâŚâ
You held his hard gaze, not denying anything but not giving in. It seemed he was testing you, checking your resolve. You took a silent breath and looked right back at him. There was no way he could get you into trouble without admitting his own faults. âI wonder what the protocols are for teachers and acceptable behaviour on school grounds?â You said, sticking your chin up and thinking you sounded more like an insolent child than anything else.
He smiled widely. âAh, very good, Miss Eves! Worry not. If I wanted to expel you I would have had Professor Sif handle it,â he said.
âI havenât told anyone, and I donât plan to,â you said. You finally lost your resolve and looked at the floor. Your cheeks heated at the thought of him half naked. âTh-thank you for not letting Professor Sif see me.â
âMiss Eves, it is simply water under the troll bridge. Though, I have a bit of a favour to ask of you,â he said. âPerhaps we can call it even then.â
You glanced up, and he had moved away from the wall and was now standing a couple of inches away from you. âYes, sir?â
âThat envelope you gave me was an invitation to dinner with the Headmistress and Professor Odinson. Thatâs just where Iâm headed now, in fact. And I would love for you to accompany me,â he said, holding out his hand like a gentleman.
You stared at his hand, and then up at him, dumbfounded. âWhat?â
He smiled and reached over to your shoulder, guiding you to follow him. As you both walked, he said, âTo be completely honest with you, I just hate these family reunion dinners. Terribly awkward. It would be a pleasure to have you there.â
âIâd hate to crash a dinner party. Iâm sure Headmistress Frigga just wanted a family affair. Plus, Iâm not even hungry!â You said, and then your stomach growled most viciously. You looked down at it with a look of betrayal.
âIt will be fun, I promise. Rainbow umbrella,â he said.
You realized you were already at the Headmistressâs office as the statue of the gargoyle began to turn. âBut sir,â you started, but he smiled at you so disarmingly that you could not find any words to deny his request. He grabbed your hand and led you up the steps and you were sure that this was an awful, terrible idea.

Triple Threat, Chapter 1 (Sequel to Trust)
Summary: Darcy and Loki were enjoying their life, still annoying the Avengers. But one day, Loki from another timeline appears. After causing some mischief, he tells them that Jane is compromised with the aether. And he needs their help.
Now Darcy not only has TWO Lokiâs to deal with, but also a deranged and tortured Jane whoâs much more powerful than she should be.
But they have to find her first.
Darcy was late. Ohhh so late.
She ran as fast as she could out of the compound with her bag over her shoulder, Thor, Tony, Natasha, Bruce and Loki were waiting at the Bifrost site.
âSorry! Iâm sorry! I couldnât find my contacts and got up late.â She said out of breath as she slammed into Lokiâs side, he slipped his arm around her waist to steady her.
It had been almost six months since Loki and Darcy realised they couldnât love anyone else. Although, whilst they tried going on proper dates together, they found it wasnât really them. The whole romance thing.
The Avengers didnât really know what to make of them both. Loki and Darcy didnât like it when they were called boyfriend and girlfriend, and to the team they were just like they were before. Mischievous and a bit annoying. But the team knew that no one else would get a look in at either of them now, that was for sure.
Did Darcy love Loki? Yes, she did. She wouldnât ever hesitate to say she did. And Loki felt the same. They already had a strong foundation built together. Had they added very regular sex to the mix? Hell yes! Did Loki want to kill every man that even just looked at Darcy in a flirtatious way? Of course!
But they were comfortable and happy with what they were. Whatever it was.
âYouâre late.â Loki drawled.
âWell, someone failed to wake me up!â She looked up at him, narrowing her eyes.
âIâm not your alarm clock, itâs not my duty to wake you.â
âIt is when youâre the reason I was up most of the night. I was walking like John Wayne when I got up. It wouldâve been polite to at least wake me.â She huffed.
âEww. Too much information!â Tony said as he pulled a face.
Loki just looked very smug.
âExciting night, huh?â Natasha smirked at Darcy.
âHell yeah!â Darcy grinned.
Loki chuckled and squeezed Darcyâs side, just as Thor called for Heimdall to open the Bifrost. Whisking them all up to Asgard.
Asgard and Midgard were working together, sharing science and technology. Tony and Bruce were able to take their inventions to completely new levels, while Asgard learned a thing or two from the scientist mortals.
So trips to the golden city were quite regular. Darcy went along whenever Loki went. Frigga was always so happy to see her, even Odin was starting to warm up to her, too. He was also trying with Loki, attempting to make amends for not being a great father. Loki didnât make it easy, but Darcy kept telling him off and told him to try and at least be civil.
When they arrived, horses were waiting for them on the Bifrost. Tony and Bruce couldnât get used to riding the horses, they were worse than Darcy had been her first time. They stuck to a very slow walk and took forever. Natasha was a natural rider, which didnât surprise Darcy or Loki.
Darcy ended up having a favourite horse, a lovely grey mare, she was a gentle giant. Loki always helped her up, often flinging her too far so she would fall off the other side. That would usually end up with Darcy withholding sex for a day or two.
Luckily, he didnât do that this time. He winked at her as he got onto his horse and the two went galloping ahead as normal. Thor and Natasha raced up after them with Tony and Bruce slowly lagging behind.
âHey, Birger! Howâs it going?â Darcy asked when they reached the stables and Birger was on duty just outside.
âGood morning, Darcy.â He took hold of the reins for her while she dismounted. âYouâre getting better at riding, I see.â He grinned.
âYeah itâs getting easier. Soon Iâll be bale to beat this oneâs ass.â She smirked and motioned to Loki who came up beside her.
Loki poked her side playfully. âUnlikely.â
âYou never know, My Prince. This mare is one of the fastest in the stables.â Birger laughed.
Loki narrowed his eyes at Birger and then Darcy. âYouâre turning Birger to the dark side. Stop!â Loki put his hand over Darcyâs face with a chuckle.
Birger took Darcy and Lokiâs horses from them, just as Thor and Natasha caught up with them. They knew the other two would take forever, so the four of them went inside and headed straight for the banquet hall.
Sif and the warriors three were there. They were pleased to see everyone, more so Thor. But Sif had a soft spot for Darcy, they got along well after they first met when Darcy and Loki visited for a week. Sif was secretly giving Darcy some fighting lessons, she wanted to surprise Loki.
Darcy had remembered when Jane told her about Sif, how she seemed stuck up and rather snippy with her. But Darcy had a feeling it was because Sif had a crush on Thor. So of course she would have been jealous of Jane.
âWhereâs the science dudes?â Sif asked as everyone sat down to eat.
âProbably still halfway across the Bifrost.â Loki smirked.
âPerhaps we should get them a carriage next time. Or take one of the ships.â Thor suggested with a mouthful.
âWhat are they hoping to achieve this trip anyway?â Darcy asked as she filled her plate up with various meat and vegetables. She LOVED the food on Asgard.
âWerenât you listening in class?â Loki rumbled, raising his eyebrow at her with a playful smile.
âI was probably too busy staring at your ass.â She shrugged.
Loki laughed while the others rolled their eyes.
âI believe theyâre hoping to finally get some of the magic from the healers into some kind of containment, so they can take it back home and study it properly. Change into something we can use. It would help speed up healing so much.â Natasha said.
âAt least she listens in class.â Loki teased Darcy, who then proceeded to stick her tongue out at him.
âSo childish.â Loki tutted at her.
By the time Bruce and Tony joined them, the rest of them had stuffed themselves full and went to their chambers to get unpacked.
âIâm gonna hang out with Sif while you are doing science with the others.â Darcy said to Loki once they were sorted in his chambers. She was tying her hair up in a bun at the mirror.
Loki walked over to her and slipped his arms around her, resting his chin on top of her head as he looked at her in the mirror.
âWhat do you two get up to together? Hmm?â He asked.
âGirl stuff.â Darcy shrugged.
Loki raised an eyebrow, not entirely convinced. But he took her to meet Sif before heading off to the healerâs room himself to meet Natasha, Tony and Bruce.
As soon as Loki was out of sight, Sif took Darcy outside to the training area. She kitted her out with some basic armour, a shield and a sword.
âHave you been practising the steps?â Sif asked as she took out her own sword.
âYep. Well, whenever Loki is out of the way.â
âHave you heard from Jane lately?â Sif asked when they started doing some simple blocking moves, Darcy was able to step away and use the sword or shield to block any attacks from Sif.
âNope, nothing. Itâs like sheâs just vanished off the face of the earth.â Darcy sighed.
âWeird. I thought she was in love with Thor, she always seemed head over heels for him when they visited. Have you asked Heimdall to check in on her?â
âNah. She was such a bitch towards me and Loki ever since I was kidnapped by him in the first place. Itâs up to her to come to me, if she wants to make amends.â Darcy then took a jab towards Sif, surprising the female warrior and hitting her chest armour. But she was impressed.
âOhh, sneaky. Youâve been practising more than just your steps.â She grinned.
âSure have!â Darcy said triumphantly.
âWhen are you going to show Loki your new skills?â
âTomorrow. I want to surprise him by asking him to teach me some moves. Speaking of which, can we work on tackling? I want to try taking him down.â Darcy said as she stopped to catch her breath for a moment.
Sif laughed and put her arm around Darcyâs shoulders. âYou really think youâll be able to knock Loki down?â
Darcy shrugged. âIâm hoping the element of surprise will help me.â
âGood luck with that. Loki is the champ of deception and he is NOT easy to take down, even though he doesnât look very strong.â Sif said.
âTell me about it. He can lift me with ease with one arm, uses me for weightlifting practice.â Darcy huffed.
âSounds just like the old Loki really is back.â Sif laughed.
âDid he hang out with you guys when you were little?â Darcy asked, they took a seat on a bench for a while to chat.
âNot often. He was more into books and his magic. A bit of a loner. But I guess we didnât help the fact by teasing and making fun of him, he was Thorâs little brother, thatâs how we saw him. I feel bad now, knowing about his true heritage and everything heâs been through. But there were times his mischievousness shone through and he would join in sometimes.â
Darcy nodded. âHe did tell me that he struggled because you would all fight with brute strength more than anything. While he prefers more skilled combat, using his magic and tricks.â
âHe is a highly skilled sorcerer, always has been after Friggaâs teachings. I think in a way, we were probably more intimidated by his skills than anything, which likely made things worse. There arenât many people like him out there.â
âThere certainly isnât. Which is probably a good thing, one Loki is enough to deal with.â Darcy laughed and hopped back up to her feet. âCome on, letâs fight!â
-
That night, Darcy was getting ready for bed.
âHey, Loks. Can you poof me up my toothbrush? I forgot to pack it.â She said as she rummaged through her bag.
âAlready in the bathroom.â Loki said, he was in bed already, reading a book.
When Darcy headed into the bathroom, she smiled as she saw it was indeed there. Next to Lokiâs in a little cup by the sink.
âI used it to clean the toilet when we arrived.â He called through to her when she started brushing her teeth.
Darcy popped her head round the door to look at him, brush sticking out of her mouth. âYeah? Well I used yours to clean my ass. So guess that makes us even!â She grinned and disappeared to the sink again.
Loki rolled his eyes and chuckled. âYou can be so disgusting sometimes.â He said loud enough for her to hear.
âRight back at you!â She shouted through.
He had just put his book down when Darcy came through to join him in bed. She jumped on top of him, he chuckled and let out a fake oomph.
âHave you put on a little weight?â He asked as he poked her sides.
âHey! Thatâs not a very nice way of flirting.â Darcy scowled at him.
Loki smirked and ran his hands up and down her upper arms, squeezing her biceps. âYouâve got more musclesâŚâ He hummed. âWhy have I not noticed this?â
Darcy rolled off him to the side. âMaybe because youâre too focused on other aspects of my body.â She grinned and started un-buttoning her pyjama top, hoping to quickly get his mind off her new muscles.
âMmm⌠indeed.â Loki purred and rolled on top of her.

+++
The pageantry never seems to end, apparently, as Asgardians partake in another feast, overflowing with food and drink, for the third time this week alone. The room is glowing and decadent, reflecting the riches of the people gathered together among the tables and around the pillars in a small area of this magnificent castle. There is laughter and smiles and an overall atmosphere that would be hard to resist if it were your first time at such an event.
It is not.
The merry faces hold sway over you no longer and it is easy to fade into the background while picking at the food that has been placed in front of you by a servant half-captivated by the scene in front of her and smiling politely at those who glance your way.
A boom of laughter comes from the other side of the chamber and it is not hard to guess who it belongs to. Thor Odinson has never been known for silence and his open mouth and wide grin portray his delight as he lifts his mug of ale and drinks yet again. The Warriors Three and other varying courtiers surround him, laughing along heartily. Lady Sif gives a quirk of her lips, playing along for a moment, but otherwise remains more stoic than the rest of the group.
It can be easy to be swept away in the revelry but tonight it just leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. There is no one near you that cares enough to notice when you get up from your seat, leaving your plate half-finished, and wander slowly towards the shadowed corridors hoping for quick exit.Â
âMy dear,â Frigga calls in her soothing voice.
Curse Frigga and her warm heart, for she knows you cannot dismiss her and you have no desire to. She is the Queen of Asgard and your guardian while you remain here in Asgard, and the wisest of all.Â
âMy Queen,â you turn and curtsy as she walks towards you. You can only offer her a slight smile hoping she will let you go soon and dare not ask for you to stay.Â
âWhy do you leave so early into the night? Is something the matter?â There is a concern, as always, in her voice, but something else that you cannot detect hides behind it.Â
âI simply weary of the night, my lady, and seek rest in my own chamber, âtis all.â She comes closer and captures your hands with her own warm ones. Her gaze is loving and for a moment you imagine it would be like your own motherâs if she still lived.Â
âIs that all?â She reads you like the palm of her hand but you give no answer. âI will have Thor escort you back, it will be no trouble.âÂ
You peer over her shoulder seeing Thor cast a quick glance over to his mother, for it is not often enough he sees you together in public spaces in the presence of so many people. It is the only glance he has spared you in months. You wrench your hands out of hers and hold them up to her in a pleading gesture, âNo, please, my lady. He is enjoying his company and I wish to disturb no one. I know the way back to my own room.âÂ
Her eyes pierce yours but she chooses to relent this time, âVery well. May rest come to you tonight.âÂ
Her arms come to smooth over your hair and down to your shoulders, gentle and firm at the same time.Â
âGood night, my Queen.â You nod and she lets go, allowing you to escape down the corridor into a darkened hallway. You continue to your room as you always have: alone.Â
+ + +Â
âI request an audience with my lord Odin Allfather and King of Asgard.â You try to keep your voice from trembling and you think you do well enough. This is not going to be easy, and you think your pacing wore through your bedroomâs carpet this morning.Â
The throne room has always been grand, gold glinting from Odinâs seat and the weapon in his hand. When you came here years ago, it took everything in you to not cower in sheer fear of speaking to him. Now, the weight of the situation is no less heavy, but Odin is not as intimidating as he once was.Â
âSpeak, child,â his voice says to you after you curtsy in front of the dais.Â
It is not warm like Friggaâs or boisterous like Thorâs. What little you have heard of Lokiâs hold no comparison either. It holds the weight and authority of a king who has reigned longer than you have lived.Â
âI wish to depart Asgard and return home,â Friggaâs eyes catch yours for a moment and there is something in them that makes you dread this conversation even more than you already do.Â
âFor how long? We will organize guards to accompany you on your journey and set a feast date for when you are to return.âÂ
âMy lord, I do not wish to return at all.â The statement hangs in the air and the words echo around the chamber. It is now that you enter into truly dangerous territory.Â
âAnd why with so little words do you wish to leave all that has been provided for you here? Foolish child, you do not know of what you wish.â Odin has always been rough around the edges, so you expected such a reaction to your proposal. He spent much time getting exactly what he wanted.Â
âI know, my lord,â You beg your voice to stay even. It is not a time to test the King of Asgard anymore than you have, âthat I can no longer sit idly by, gorging at feasts and drinking to my content, as my father grows old and my older sister fades away to time--âÂ
âYou are shortsighted in your vision,â He interrupts adamantly, dismissing your words as if they are from the mouth of a child. But you are not a child and you have not been for a very long time.Â
âI would continue to be patient,â It is like a spark lights inside of you, âif the Allfather would fulfill what he promised to me and my people decades ago. We gave you our best soldiers and our smiths and you still have yet to betroth me to a prince I came here decades ago to marry.âÂ
âI will tell you the same words I told you when you arrived here and became our ward--âÂ
âIf my lord will forgive me,â For all the kindness and grace that has been instilled in you, your time here has taught you to never allow yourself to be spoken over, not even by the King of Asgard, âI have no time to entertain the same empty promises and fanciful notions that brought me here to you. I am the heir to my own throne and I am of no use to my kingdom if I wait endlessly for something that you, King of Asgard, have no intention of actually granting me nor my people. If it means I leave here declaring war, so be it.â
Frigga is wary next to her husband, as she is Queen of Asgard and no longer just someone who cares for you as a mother would. She cannot defy her husband in public, especially when the Court will hear of all of this before the end of day. Odinâs lips are pressed together and it is easy to tell that he is quickly losing what patience he holds with you. But you think your threats have worked well enough for the moment.
âI will grant consideration of this request but I make no promises. My decision will be known to you in the coming days.â He waves his hand at you, a quick and effortless motion.Â
âMy King,â You say begrudgingly though you glare at him as you give a final curtsy. The walk to exit out of the throne room is the longest of your life.Â
+++
There is a loud knock at your chamber door two days later. The servants have pitied you with sad eyes and hidden frowns meant only for you, but otherwise you wait for news that still does not come. By the weight of the knock, you know it is Thor. There only has been one other time he has come to your door and it was for the feast thrown in your honor as you were welcomed into Asgard 15 years ago. It is funny how little the prince who was promised to marry you has seen you in the span of those years.Â
He avoids you and everyone knows it.Â
âWhat do you seek Thor?â You sigh as you see his face when the door opens. You are tired. His mouth is set in a grim line, which is unusual for him. He barges in with no care to how he may jostle you, which is usual for him.Â
âI hear you are planning to leave us,â You want to roll your eyes, and behind his back you do. If he is coming here to simply confirm information he has already heard, you have better things to do with your time. âPermanently.âÂ
You stay stationed by your door, leaving it open. He will not be here for long. Your silence has him turning towards you.Â
âYou run as a coward?â He does not understand you in his foolishness, the kind that he seems to refuse to grow out of; he never has.Â
âI cannot serve my people in a gilded cage waiting for you to grow up, Thor Odinson.â His facial expression startles for a second, as if he does not expect you to have a spine.Â
âThese promises,â He steps closer, confusion furrowing his eyebrows, âthey mean so much to you that you would abandon the life that has been made for you here?âÂ
âI have no life here if your father does not keep his word. I leave with his permission or I leave without it. But I am not staying here sheltered like an innocent and dependent little girl.â There is some silence and you still wait by the door.Â
âI do admire you,â He says. You want to scoff. This is longest conversation you two have ever had, so these words are meaningless.Â
âAdmiration does nothing for my people. And it helps me even less.âÂ
âWould you have even wanted to marry me?â He asks all the wrong questions at all the wrong times.Â
âPerhaps, Thor,â you shrug as he comes again past you, barely stepping past the threshold, âif things were different and you were more willing to look beyond yourself.âÂ
He looks a little as if you have struck him, but you cannot find it in your heart to ask for any sort of forgiveness. He barely manages a nod to your words.Â
âI think I would have liked to know you better--âÂ
âBut you havenât, Thor,â And you cannot help but be honest. The words are bitter as acid but they bring a relief. Too long have you bottled everything in. And itâs not like either of you are going to see each other any time soon. âAnd that is partly why everything is the way that it is. And it is why I must leave.âÂ
âI bid you good fortune, then, my lady,â He says as a farewell before he is briskly making his way down the hallway, as if he cannot get away fast enough.Â
And you are alone, again, like maybe you were always meant to be.Â

WORLD ON FIRE: CHAPTER 3 {LOKI X SIGYN)
Summary: Sigyn was supposed to have died almost 100 years ago. A peace mission to Migard gone wrong and she had never returned. Everyone had thought she was dead until Loki is shown someone who looks too familiar when he comes to Earth on a mission. Sharon Odell. Shannon Orwell. Sidney Orwell. No matter what name she goes by, itâs all the same. Now that Gods and heroes are real, thereâs no use hiding who she really is anymore.
Chapter Summary: Loki arrives on the Helicarrier.
Masterlist
Chapter 3: Icarus
Thin fingers tapped nervously on the metal railing as Sidney listened to the men begin to plan to go after Loki. He was in Germany. What the hell was he doing there? He wasnât hiding either. It was almost like he wanted to be found.
She was just grateful she would be staying behind. âSteve,â she called out as she jogged down the hallway after the man.
The solider turned his head as he continued on his way to the jet with Natasha beside him. âSidney,â he nodded. âDid you need something?â
Sidney frowned as she walked up on his other side, her nose wrinkled in concentration. âJust be careful, alright? We donât know what weâre dealing with here.â Lie. âHe can be-â
âDangerous, we know. Which is why youâre staying here.â Natasha interrupted with a look that was somehow both reassuring and slightly threatening. âSteve can handle himself.â The man took longer strides now as the two women fell behind. âOr he should be able to.â
âFingers crossed,â Sidney smiled weakly.
A while had passed and Sidney still couldnât shake the worry from her mind. As much as she tried to focus in the lab, she couldnât. They didnât even have the Tesseract yet. She should be preparing but she couldnât stop thinking about that was happening out there in Germany. A sharp pain behind her eye made her lurch forward with a yelp.Â
âWhoa hey!â Banner set down the tablet he held and hurried over. He held a hand close to her arm as the blonde straightened up; a hand still pressed over her eye. âAre you alright? What was that?â
âIâm fine,â she assured the man as she waved him off. âI thinkâŚI think something just got in my eye.â
âThe lab seems pretty clean to me. Everything should be pretty sterile.â
Banner sounded worried. Shit she had to come up with something else. âCluster migraines,â she hissed through gritted teeth. âI-I get them all the time, unfortunately. Iâm gonna step outside.â She hurried from the lab before the man could protest.
Bruce was too nice of a person to bring up the fact that heâd seen the fact that SHIELD had deemed her a threat. There would be more time for that, he thought. Unless whatever made her a threat showed itself before anyone had a chance to push her to whatever her breaking point was. He shook the thought off as he went back to his own work. Fury didnât seem like someone he would want to piss off.
Sidney pushed her way past armored soldiers as she stumbled through the hallway. The pain had spread from behind her eye to the back of her head and was slowly making its way around to the other side. She hadnât been able to focus over the past day or so, she was away from the wards she had placed around her house, and that only meant one thing.
âExcuse me,â she practically grunted as she finally pushed her way out onto the deck. It was a lot cooler out now even as she started to feel more and more over-heated. A quick glance over her shoulder told her that some soldiers definitely had their eye on her as she slipped further towards some of the strapped down jets. Something in the air felt different too but she didnât have time to think as the splitting headache finally made its way full circle.Â
Sidney dropped to her knees with a whimper as the few jets that surrounded her shook. Then just as suddenly as it had begun, it was over. A breath that she didnât even realize she was holding escaped her lips as she finally opened her eyes. Everything felt a little bit lighter but it didnât take long for the dread to creep in.
âYouâll be happy to hear that Captain America has successfully apprehended Loki. With an assist from Tony Stark. Wasnât expecting it to happen that easy. Would you happen to know anything about it?â Phil Coulsonâs voice cut through the silence. Sidney turned as she lowered herself into a sitting position.
She raised an eyebrow. âHe came quietly?â
Coulson nodded. At least it sounded like no one had gotten hurt. Still, it didnât sit right with her that he had come so quietly. He could probably guess that she was there but she wasnât foolish enough to think that she would be the only reason that Loki would want onto this plane. Or was it a ship?
âIâm sorry that you had to see that.â Coulson spoke again. She didnât even have to ask; of course they already knew sheâd seen her file. Sidneyâs face softened as she looked up and met the manâs eye. âIâm guessing that you can be considered a little less neutralized now. Just judging by the whole-â He tapped the jet beside him.
Sidney gritted her teeth and shrugged. âI can only work with what I have, Philip. I had to run away from home. I didnât have much of a chance to grab the necessities,â she rolled her eyes. A heavy sigh left her lips as Coulson held out his hand.
âI apologize,â Coulson smiled as Sidney took his hand and allowed him to help her to her feet. âCan we still count on you?âÂ
âHe tried to kidnap me. Do you really expect this to be like those news stories of the families crying after being reunited when one of them was off to war,â she questioned him bitterly.
The older man clapped a hand on her shoulder, his smile turned a little more sad as he did. âIâm truly sorry. I-â A loud crack of thunder interrupted him. The attention of both of them turned skyward.Â
âUh-oh,â Sidney whispered under her breath as a bright streak of lightning lit up the sky.
âIs that what I think it is?â Coulson sounded exhausted.
The hair on Sidneyâs arms began to stand up from a mix of the electricity and anticipation. âI do believe it is.â
âDamn it,â Coulson huffed as he hooked his arm with Sidneyâs to lead her back inside the helicarrier. âHill, alert the others. Weâre gonna have more company once they land. Yeah I know. Well figure it out, please! Thank you!â
Sidney reached up and absentmindedly stroked the pendant around her neck as the door closed behind her. Maybe she should go lay down for a bit. Bruce didnât seem like he would mind. Besides, she could always make up a story about having some lady problems; that usually stopped any questions. She had too much to think about.
The room that she was in was brighter than the one sheâd fallen asleep in that was for sure. Someoneâs shoes clicked on the hard ground as the blonde stood and chewed on her thumb-nail nervously.Â
âCalm down,â a female voice spoke from behind her.
She whipped around and narrowed her eyes slightly as she placed her hands on her hips. âOh how easy that must be! Forgive me, Lady Sif. Iâm in awe of your wisdom.â She didnât mean to snap, but sometimes she still felt a bit of jealousy towards the other woman. How she used to dream of being able to be a woman warrior like the Valkyrie or even like Sif . She had no such luck.
âMany are,â Sif smirked as she crossed her arms in front of her chest. She felt herself relax a little bit as her friend stepped forward and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. âJust as they will be in awe of you.â
Sidneyâs eyes popped open as a beeping sound invaded her ears. She hadnât meant to fall asleep, truly. Maybe the incident outside had taken more out of her than she thought it would. The blonde raised a hand to touch her shoulder. Her dream had felt real. Sheâd half expected to open her eyes and find her friend before her.
She could never be so lucky. The beeping sounded again. With some semblance of grace, she lowered herself down from the top bunk where she had slept and grabbed the source of the beeping off of the small counter.
âYou should know better than to interrupt my beauty sleep,â she sighed as she turned and looked at herself in the small mirror.Â
âTheyâve landed. Come to the bridge whenever is convenient for you, sleeping beauty.â
She gritted her teeth as she snapped the phone shut. Damn Fury right to Hel.
Sidney leaned over and splashed cool water on her face. Her hands shook as she straightened out her shirt. She couldnât put this off for ever. Still, she was in no hurry to throw herself right into the lionâs den.
It felt like controlled chaos as she exited her quarters and stepped into the hallway. The once bustling area was quiet but the tensions still seemed higher than they had before. The blonde woman took a deep breath and fixed her dark eyes on a spot on the wall ahead of her as she started on her trek. Every step she took, it felt like something in her gut tried to warn her. Pull her backwards as she felt the urge to run back and curl up on her bed.
No. She couldnât give any of them the satisfaction.Â
Plus, Bruce would probably need her help now and at least the lab could keep her occupied.Â
Any semblance of rational thought left her as she rounded the corner. Her heart skipped a beat. Her palms grew sweaty as she clenched them into fists. Time seemed to stand still as her brain processed who walked towards her now. Loki stood in the middle of an entourage of armed guards.Â
Just as her ability to move kicked back in, she drew in a deep breath. Her shoulders shook as she tried to hold her stoic expression. It became even harder as Lokiâs eyes finally drifted from the window of the lab towards her.Â
Their eyes locked. The smile on his face grew even bigger as he was led closer still. Where the hell were they taking him?
Despite the group he walked with, he seemed close enough to reach out and touch if he wanted to. The cat had got the canary right where he wanted her.
âSon of a bitch,â she hissed as he drifted out of sight.
âHey.â
Sidney nearly jumped out of her skin as she spun around to meet the curious eyes of Bruce Banner. âJesus Christ, Bruce. You always that quiet?â
He raised an eyebrow at her as he shook his head slowly. âNoâŚI think we should go though. You know, safety in numbers.â He smiled nervously, âBesides, that Loki guy gives me the creeps. How about you?â
âI wouldnât say thatâs the word for it,â she mumbled under her breath as she looked over her shoulder one last time.
âFury does have a way with words,â Sidney observed as she listened to the conversation from her spot on the bridge with the others. She was careful to keep her eyes off of the new arrival though she could feel his gaze on her every few moments.Â
âA mindless beast,â Loki sounded too happy as he said that. Sidney glanced at Bruce and placed a hand on his arm. âMakes play heâs still a man.â
Heâs just playing games with all of us.
âHow desperate are you? You call on such lost creatures to defend you!âÂ
Sidney could barely even listen anymore. How could this be the same Loki that she had known? He was a trickster, sure. But killing for fun? Thor had always been more one to go off and start a war because he was bored. Something was very wrongâŚ
âIt burns you to have come so close,â Loki taunted. Now that piqued her interest. He knew something that none of them did and it bothered her almost more than anything else that heâd said.Â
âHe really grows on ya, doesnât he,â Bruce spoke up as the video feed cut off. Sidney let out a snort of laughter. At least Bruce didnât seem so bothered by the jabs that Loki had surely meant to unleash the beast. He was really a genius.
âLokiâs gonna drag this out,â Steve frowned. âThor. Whatâs his play?â
Thor furrowed his brow as he turned to face the group. âHe has an army called the Chitauri. Theyâre not of Asgard or any known world. He means to lead them against your people.â Thor glanced over at her for a moment; she didnât avert her eyes this time. âThey will win him Earth in return, I suspect, for the Tesseract.â
âAn army from outer space,â Steve dead-panned.
âHeâs building another portal. Thatâs what he needs Erik Selvig for.â Bruce sighed.
Sidneyâs jaw clenched as she sucked in a deep breath. âThatâs what he needed me for.â At least one of the things he probably wanted her for anyway.
âSelvig? Heâs a friend.â Thor explained. Maybe his time on Earth had changed him. It had sure changed Erik but maybe not so much for the better.
Sidney kept quiet as the rest of the group continued to talk. She didnât want a part in this discussion about Loki. At least not yet. Something didnât sit right with her about the whole thing. Something was wrong about everything.
âI donât think we should be focusing on Loki,â Bruce interrupted. âThat guyâs brain is a bag full of cats. You could smell the crazy on him.â
Sidneyâs nostrils flared as she bit down on her tongue. Now was not the time to argue.
âHave care how you speak. Loki is beyond reason, but he is of Asgard. And he is my brother.â For a moment, Sidneyâs heart swelled with appreciation for the blond man. At least it seemed like he still held some loyalty to the caged man.
âHe killed 80 people in 2 days.âÂ
Sidney let out a low whistle as she glanced from Natasha back to the God of thunder.Â
âHeâs adopted.â
What?!
She could barely focus on what happened in front of her anymore. As Stark took center stage, a plan popped into her head. Thank god Tony loved the spot light, she thought as she took the opportunity to quietly slip out of view of the others.Â
Once she was in the hallway, she kept her eyes down. If anyone asked, she would say that she was on her way back to her room. Hopefully, no one would question her since sheâd beenâŚsick before.
Her shoulders tensed as she passed the window to the lab. She was closer now. Sidney lifted her gaze as she passed by her room. Just a little further. Footsteps were coming towards her now.Â
âShit,â she hissed through gritted teeth. As the guard stepped into view, Sidney furrowed her brow and made a show of looking around.Â
âMiss Orwell,â the guard called out. âIâm afraid that this part of the ship is restricted.â He sounded pleasant enough but there was definitely a hint of a threat in his voice.
Her brown eyes widened. âOh! I thought Iâd gone too far. You know once you get far enough in, everything starts to look the same,â she let out a high pitched laugh. The guard raised an eyebrow.
âIâll show you back to your quarters.âÂ
Sidney held her head up higher as she allowed the guard to lead her back to her room. She didnât have much of a choice.
Despite her set-back, she didnât let that hold her back. The blonde woman waited a few minutes before she decided to venture out again. A better plan on her mind this time.Â
Her fingers clutched her key card tight as she walked close enough to the wall that she could hopefully hide if anyone noticed her. Some God out there must have wanted her to get answers as she made it without much of an issue. Sure, sheâd run into a guard or two, but sheâd managed to dodge them this time.
It felt like her feet were rooted to the ground as she stood outside of the locked room. Her brown eyes closed as she focused on the keycard in her hand. If she was right, then she should be able to at least do this. With her eyes still closed, she raised the card to the scanner and a satisfying noise echoed around her.
Sidney opened her eyes and swallowed hard before she took a step inside. She spotted the camera from across the room. From what she could see, there was no light on. Hopefully that meant that no one was watching.Â
Her shoes tapped quietly on the grates as she walked up the small set of stairs. Sidneyâs heart felt heavy as she stepped onto the landing and turned to face down the aisle. The cage was almost not even noticeable the glass was so clear. If she didnât think too much about it, the man inside looked like a sick version of someone as they waited at the end of the aisle in a church.
Her arms folded in front of her chest as she took a defensive stance. Loki stared her down as he rose from his seat and stepped closer to the glass. Despite herself, Sidney mirrored him as she too took a few steps closer.
The hair on the back of her neck stood up as Loki observed her. Even though he was the one in the cage, she felt a bit like a rare animal in a zoo as his eyes seemed to take in all of her features one by one. Finally, his blue eyes met her brown ones. They were too blue.
âSo you do live,â Lokiâs voice was quiet even as a grin stretched across his face. Sidney held her head up high as she kept quiet. âWhere have you been hiding?â
Sidney squeezed her eyes shut. In spite of the thought that sheâd put into it since sheâd seen him in the hallway, she hadnât prepared for this. She had prepared for death threats and questions about the attempted kidnapping. Now she just didnât have it in her.
As her eyes fluttered open, a small smile formed on her face. âHello to you too, Loki. Iâve missed you, love.â

Wine Drunk
That Asgardian wine Sif gave you is stronger than anything Tony Stark has in his liquor cabinet
~
âItâs so beautiful in here.â you muse, looking up at the golden halls of Thor and Lokiâs palace. Everyone else at the ball is bustling around you, but you keep your eyes glued upwards on the architecture unlike any of Earthâs. You do so mostly because it was breathtaking, but partly because the bright colors of everyoneâs dresses and suits were beginning to make your head spin.
âLike nothing youâve ever seen, huh?â Sif throws an arm around your shoulder, almost knocking you over.
âDonât mess up my hair,â you giggle. âI mean, the servants spent hours on it. And it it hurt, like a lot.â you laugh again as Sif walks back to the Warriors Three, who are watching you with grins on their faces. âYou know, itâs pretty wild you guys have servants... I mean no offense, but you guys are gods, and youâre all holier than thou, but you still have servants? And like, are there even toilets here?â
The sounds of laughter fills your ears, and the empty goblet youâre holding disappears.Â
âYou need a refill.â one of the Warriors Three says, and you canât exactly tell which one it was. Your gaze falls to the ground, which suddenly seems very far away. Youâre just about to take back your cup when you hear a voice behind you.
âWhatâs going on?â you turn around, and when your eyes focus on Loki, your breath seems to escape your chest. Heâs dressed in dark green with gold accents, and his hair has been slicked back. He looks glowing, healthy and well-rested.Â
You snap back to the moment quickly.
âNothing.â you clap a hand on Lokiâs shoulders, patting it reassure him. âWow, thatâs the softest material Iâve ever felt.â Loki gives you an incredulous look. You remove your hand. âVolgagg-Volstagg- is just getting me another drink.â your small circle is decidedly quieter now, and you begin to feel uncomfortable.
âHow much have you had?â Loki asks. His eyes are piercing. You blink.
âJust two. Youâve been with me at Tonyâs parties! Two is nothing. Iâm an adult.â you tell him. Lokiâs head whips towards Sif.
âTwo of these could knock Thor off his feet! What are you thinking? And to be watching this as if it was some type of show-â
âOh please.â Sif scoffs. âYou tried to murder all of the Midgardians, Loki. Do not come to us acting like you have the moral high ground when you want is some ass.â
You can feel the anger emanating off of Loki, and your head starts to pound. Youâre vaguely aware of Loki losing his temper, but you canât bring yourself to understand the words. Groaning, you squeeze your eyes shut.
You feel a hand on your back, and fingers intertwine with yours.
âYou need some air.â Loki tells you firmly. He guides you away from the ball, and when you look back, Sif and the Warriors Three are laughing again. They donât seem to notice youâve gone.
Loki walks with you, slowly until he opens the door to a balcony and shuts it behind you. You look out over Asgard, taking in the beauty and other-worldness of it all.
âItâs windy.â Loki takes off his coat, and you step away when he tries to give it to you.
âIâm very warm.â you slur. Loki raises an eyebrow. He reaches out and touches your bare shoulder, his long fingers just barely brushing your collarbone. Loki is cool to the touch, and you resist the urge to close your eyes and focus on him.
âYouâre freezing.â he says. He drapes his coat over you, and you instantly feel secure. âBesides, what kind of host would I be if I deprived you of the softest material youâve ever felt?â you laugh, and Loki grants you a small smirk.
You walk towards the railing, less graceful than youâd care to admit, to get a better look at the scene below you.
âToo close.â Lokiâs hands sneak around your waist, pulling you to safety. Your eyes meet, and he looks away.
âWhy donât we sit down?â
You scan the small balcony, your eyebrows knit.
âThereâs only one seat.â
Loki doesnât say anything, he simply sits down and looks at you expectantly. Your hearts races. You make your way over to him, doing what he wants. Just like you always do.
Loki keeps a hand on your knee to make sure you donât fall. His thumb moves up and down, and you strain your muddled mind trying to figure out if heâs doing it unconsciously or not.
âIâm sorry I embarrassed you.â you say in a small voice. âMaybe I wasnât the best choice to come to the palace with you and Thor.â
Lokiâs head turns, and youâre shocked at how close the two of you are. Your noses are almost touching.
Which mean your lips-
âYou didnât embarrass me.â he says, just as quiet as you. âI was just worried. Your body isnât built like ours. Even now, I would give you something to make you feel better, but I canât predict with any certainty how you would react.â the grip on your knee tightens. âYouâre tired.â
âI donât feel... normal.â you say. Your eyes fall shut for just a moment, and when you open them again, youâre in your temporary room in the palace.
You begin to take off the jewelry the Asgardian servants had adorned you in, then take your hair down. Your back is to Loki, and when you turn around, youâre shocked to find your noses are almost touching again.
Your gaze lands on Lokiâs lips, and youâre painfully aware of the fact that if you just stood on your toes a little bit, you could kiss him. Youâve wanted to for so long, and your judgement isnât what it normally is right now...
âAre you going to kiss me?â Loki asks. His eyes are hard, and you canât find any trace of emotion on his face.Â
You want to lie so much, but that was Lokiâs forte.Â
âYes.â you swallow.Â
âPlease donât.â Loki steps away. You look down, nodding.
âIâm sorry. I donât feel like myself and I canât really grasp whatâs going on-â
âI donât want to kiss you while youâre drunk.â your hearts skips a beat. âI want this to be normal. So, Iâm not doing this right now.â
You let out a breath of air, amused at the idea that anything involving a human and a literal god could be normal.Â
âNow?â you ask. Loki nods.
âNow. I wonât do this now.â
Your hopes are up. Exhausted from all the emotions youâve felt tonight, you climb into bed. Loki sits down.
âIâm going to make sure youâre alright.â he tells you.
âYou can... You can come up here.â you mutter. âItâs um, more comfortable.â
Loki waits a moment, then you feel the other side of the bed bend under his weight. You hide your face in your pillow even though itâs dark.
âI donât think Iâll remember any of this...â you manage just before you drift off.
Loki traces his thumb over your forehead, murmuring a spell to ensure you wonât. He feels you cuddle up against his chest, and allows himself to put his arm around you.
Loki stays awake all night, making sure he will up and sitting in the chair across from your bed in the morning.Â

Incompatible (Mandalorian x Hunter!Jedi!F Reader)
Chapter Three: The PursuitÂ
Word Count: 6k
Warnings: some violence, mentions of organ harboring (idk where that came from in my weird head), angst, fluff, soft mando, soft reader (this one gets pretty soft at the end), FEELINGS, slow burn, grammar errors probablyÂ
This one I actually really enjoyed writing, sorry itâs slightly shorter than the last ones, and it took me forever to write. School has been stressful but its fine (haha...haha). I hope you all enjoy, and again I am so sorry this is late, I love you all!Â
Chapter Three: The pursuit
Well, you didnât necessarily lie to Mando. Most of it was true, except for a few major details you just so happened to have âforgottenâ. Which was obviously the truth.
Obviously. Â
After the little incident that went down last night, you had to think fast. You could not afford to spill everything about yourself, but you also had to be smart about it. If you lied about the whole thing, there was no way he wouldnât pick up on that. Heâs a kriffing bounty hunter for makers sake, he definitely could tell a lie from the truth. Thankfully, you also knew how to maneuver around that as well. So, this is the story you told him after he threatened to kill you, after just almost dying yourself not even a few minutes prior.
Such a nice guy.
âOkay look, before you think of doing something rash let me explain myself.â You started calmly, seeing how tense Mando was didnât make you feel any better than you already did with having to come up with something on the spot. His fingers were hovering over his blaster, almost like a warning for you to continue. You cleared your throat.
âI only found out I had these abilities a few years ago, my family never told me of them,â lie, âso before you go thinking that Iâm some Jedi or whatever, a sworn enemy of a Mandalorian, just know I have never had training with this before, so I wouldnât even know where to start. And plus, Jedi have those laser things, I donât.â Okay thatâs somewhat of a lie. You have had training but only a few short years of it. But the latter part of your sentence was obviously a lie, the lightsaber poking at your back was evidence of that, at least for yourself.
âI only use it when totally necessary, and by the looks of it, we were not getting away from those guys with a shootout or a fist fight. I was not about to die and let you take the reward of our bounties for yourself. You have the armor to protect you, I have this ability.â You spoke clamping your hands together in your lap. Mando eased just a little bit by retracting his fingers from his blaster, leaning back against the tree stump more as he contemplated your words.
All he did was shake his head. âHow do I know that you wonât kill me with these abilities? How do I trust you?â Mando spoke in a lighter tone now, he felt a little more at ease with this new information. You sighed and shook your head.
âI donât want to kill you Mando, far from that. However, if I recall you were the one who threatened me a few minutes ago. How do I know you wonât kill me?â You questioned staring directly in his visor. A short sigh escaped his modulator, if anything, it was a soft chuckle. Mando was laughing?
Thatâs more unsettling than a death threat.
âLook, if you donât threaten me, I wonât threaten you. I- âMando shook his head quickly and leaned against his forearms on his lap, leaning in a little closer to you.
âI was nervous before. I threatened you just out of instinct. I donât really want to kill you. I just want to come to an agreement. You did save our lives back there and we do work well together, as hard as that is to admit. I just donât want that to be compromised.â Mando spoke lowly causing you to shiver. You could tell he was telling the truth, and you felt grateful for his honesty.
You nodded, âI agree.â And that was how the conversation went, and you two havenât spoken of it since last night.
---
Dawn came quickly and you knew that you both had to get to the city soon to track this gang, which shouldnât take that long. You hoped at least. The sooner this was over, the sooner you could get as far away from Mando as you could.
However, despite this unspoken competition between you two, you were starting to feel something else flow from both of you. It was strong in the force, you felt it clearly. Mando was slowly starting to trust you. With trust came friendship, something Mando had extraordinarily little experience in.
However, so did you.
The last time you can remember having a friend was on your home planet, her name was Sif. She was just like you, a force wielder, a fighter, and strong. You two bonded heavily over that. Unfortunately, you didnât know whether or not she made it out of harms way like you did, or if she suffered the same fate as your family.
This growing comfortableness between you and Mando was becoming intense but not unwanted. To put it in simpler terms-
It terrified both of you.
While you two walked together through the gates of the city Voss, after walking the longest bridge youâve ever seen in your life, you two actually held up a conversation. It was nothing of importance and nothing personal was discussed, just talking about shared experiences while hunting bounties. Mando took an interest in your fighting style, it was unique. It was a type of martial arts style of fighting that he himself could never perform due to his armor.
It was- nice. You both found some form of comfort talking together without the unwanted tension that you two create around each other. You were both coming to realize you created walls to protect yourself from caring too much about one another. You both knew what being close to someone causes.
Pain.
You both stopped talking for a while after tracking the location of your bounties. They were last seen walking east from the city walls, in attempt to go to the Nightmare Lands, in hopes to lose any bounty hunters tracking them.
They obviously havenât meet you and Mando before.
There was something rare in the woods that they wanted, thatâs what the locals told you both at least. You and Mando made an agreement to catch them before they entered, you did not want to see what was beyond the tree line and Mando was not in the mood to patch up any more wounds you two might get. As a result, the two of you spent the remainder of the afternoon trudging through the woods following the low beep of the tracking fob.
âWeâre getting close.â Mando spoke lowly as he brushed aside some branches. You nodded silently behind him.
âDo you think theyâll suspect us coming?â You questioned, Mando shrugged.
âI donât know. They might have set up camp since itâs getting late. Thatâs really all I can assume.â Mando spoke as he walked next to you. His cape rustled against the slight breeze causing your cloak to move as well. You angled yourself towards him slightly so he couldnât see the glimmer of your lightsaber. But you had no clue what he was looking at through the dark visor. You could only hope and go off of his feelings. He was somewhat anxious as you two approached where your bounties would be, heâs never taken anyone down with help before.
You could sense his uneasiness and tilted your head towards him, and a small, âIâm nervous too,â were all the kind words you could offer him without it being awkward.
Not that it would mean anything besides reassurance.
Obviously.
âI never said I was nervous.â Mando tried to hide what his voice might give away. He didnât understand how you always seemed to read him so well despite wearing the helmet. He could read you sometimes, but it was almost always a guess.
âI can feel it radiating off of you in waves. Your helmet canât mask all of your emotions.â You chuckled, sending him a quick wink to mask your ever-growing nerves as you two approached a small hill amongst the trees.
âI read heat signatures down in the valley, I think our bounties made camp for the night. Stay low.â Mando commanded as he got down on his knees and then his stomach as you two approached the edge of the hill. You got down on your stomach as well next to him as you looked down on the scene before you. They had one large tent housing all of them it seemed, and one little one next to them. No doubt holding the women they seemed to like to capture along the way.
You shuttered at the thought of what they do to them.
âWe need to get the women out.â You whispered to Mando as he scanned the area with his small telescope. He paused for a second as if contemplating your words. He knew it was risky to try and free them, obtain your bounties, and stay out of harms way at the same time. But he knew how stubborn you were, and he did want to help them too.
âWe will.â He states attaching his telescope back on his pulse rifle.
âHave any idea for a plan?â You asked gazing down at the camp. You saw smoke coming from the other side, meaning that your bounties were most likely around a fire. Not knowing they were being stalked like prey on the other end was kind of amusing.
âMost of the time I just stun them from a distance.â Mando says as he tilts his visor in your direction. The light from the sun setting created an amazing glow on the beskar, it was entrancing.
âI donât think thatâll work this time with this many people.â You shot back, trying to think of an alternative plan.
âDo you have a better idea?â He asks taking another glance down at the tent.
âI do. Itâs a little risky though.â You whisper causing him to look curiously in your direction, urging you to continue.
âI could offer myself as bait, seeing that they like women a lot, at least thatâs what the locals say. I can keep my dagger hidden and then strike when they arenât expecting it, thatâs when you come in and help me take out the rest of them.â You say shrugging as if itâs not a big deal. Mandoâs eyebrows stitched together under the helmet, were you serious?
âAre you kidding me? No, absolutely not.â He concludes shaking his helmet so fast you think heâll get whiplash.
âWhy not? You donât think Iâm capable?â
âNo, I know you are. I- â
He sighed heavily, âI canât protect you that well from up here.â
That made your mouth shut, and quickly. You just stared at him, his chest piece rising and falling as his heartbeat quickened. He didnât mean to say that out loud. However, he was right. You didnât know what they were capable of, but you knew what you were capable of.
You cleared your throat. âListen, I know I can handle myself. With that being said, I trust you to come if things turn south. I can have my communicator with me if you want. But I trust that youâll have eyes on me the whole time. Because I donât think we have any other choice than to have some sort of bait for them.â You said, trying to speak the plan into existence. It was risky, but there was no other plan that would get they whole group to comply.
âPlus, I have that little gift I told you about.â You smiled. He only sighed and rolled on his back, arms crossing over his chest in the process. You could mistake him for being relaxed right now, but his emotions said otherwise. He was contemplating your words. You trusted him, thatâs a big thing to him. He knew now that he couldnât let you down if things did turn south.
He nodded once. âLetâs get this over with then.â
--
You both waited until the sun was completely down, the only light coming in from the ever-glowing moons in the sky and the light haze from the campfire below. Mando was perched up on the hill on the opposite side of the one you two were at earlier. It gives him a better view of the entrance of the tent.
The only way in and out.
You took off your cloak, wrapping your lightsaber in it as you set it down next to Mando, hoping he wouldnât open it. You then started taking off your black pull over and revealing a black tank top, if you were to get into the tent undetected, you were going to have to show some skin. You kept your dagger concealed in your boot and made sure you didnât have any other weapons on you.
Mando was pacing as you got yourself prepared, he kept making sure that his pulse rifle was loaded and making sure that the safety was already off on his blaster as well. He had to be ready for anything. He felt terrible that you were only going in there with a single dagger while these bounties were fully weaponized. He put his hands on his hips and leaned his weight back on one leg while he looked at you.
âAre you sure about this?â He asked for what seemed like the millionth time that night. You looked up to him from your kneeling position by your boot, tying it tighter as you spoke to him.
âMando, itâll be fine. It wonât take that long. They get me in their tent, you come down and we take them all at once. Going in quiet is our only option here. All they have to do is go in the tent all at once. Not that hard.â You whispered, making sure your cleavage was somewhat more prominent. Your hands were slightly trembling, youâve never done anything like this before and you hoped Mando didnât notice.
He did, and it sent him on edge, he notices everything. However, he also tried not to focus on your appearance too much, you were becoming slightly intoxicating to him and he couldnât be distracted during this mission. He cleared his throat, darting his eyes from you.
âItâs all a risk.â He whispered as you got ready to finally leave, taking another once over of yourself. You placed a hand on his shoulder plate, gently as if to not scare him away.
âLook, the sooner we do this, the sooner we can get our reward. Then we donât ever have to see each other again.â You said with a slight grimace. Despite everything heâs found out about your past, you were actually enjoying your time with him. He was a great fighter, bounty hunter, and he had this certain charisma about him. He felt the same way you did, but he couldnât let you know that he was also enjoying his time with you, maybe a little too much.
âYeah.â Was all he could say as you descended down the hill towards the camp. He sighed as he got down on his stomach again, blending in with his surroundings very well in the dark. He took a look through his telescope, to have a close eye on you the whole time.
You walked through the trees closest to the campfire where your bounties were. You counted six of them, but maybe there were more in the tent. You hoped that there werenât anymore. After you rounded one more tree, you came into view of them.
âExcuse me?â You asked meekly. They all looked up at you from their roast. As if they were the same person, they smirked and laughed lowly at the same time. By the looks of it, they were all human. You mentally sighed with relief at that. Humans were easier to read and easier to take down, and given the wound still healing on your side, you were very thankful for that.
One man stood up and whistled lowly. âWhatâs a pretty las like you doing out here all alone?â He asked throwing his cleaned off bone somewhere in the brush. You smiled at him, rubbing your arms.
âIâve been traveling alone for quite some time now. My ship broke down and I need some shelter. You folk are the first people Iâve seen for miles.â You whispered, allowing yourself to tremble slightly against the cold of the night. The man approached you as the others around the fire stood up from their positions.
âThe names Randall, sweet thing.â He seethed, touching your hair. You were so grossed out but had to act otherwise, and just gave him a small smile instead.
Mando was reeling from his position. His grip was so tight on his telescope heâs surprised it hasnât broken. He didnât understand why he was feeling the way he was. He never cared like this before when he was with you. Not even about anyone else heâs encountered along his journey now that he thought about it.
âWhy donât you come inside, you look cold. Weâll take good care of you.â The man, Randall, smiled as his hands stroked your arms, dangerously close to your tank top straps. You grinned at him.
âThat would be lovely, thank you so much.â You said as you grabbed his arm. He led you to the tent, but it wasnât the main one. Your heartbeat started to quicken as he practically dragged you to the smaller tent off to the side, where you assumed all the other women were being held.
âI hope itâll be comfortable for you sweetheart.â One of the other men said behind Randall, you didnât realize they were all following behind.
Mando was concerned to say the least as you rounded the tent. He could see that they were taking you to the other tent now, but his view on you began to grow smaller and smaller until you were out of sight, even from his telescope.
âShit.â He whispered, springing up onto his feet and stuffing his telescope into his pocket. He treaded lightly as he walked the perimeter to get a better look at the other tent these men were leading you to. He was starting to get a bad feeling about this, since they were all following you there.
His hand instinctively went over his blaster.
Once you arrived at the tent, Randall pulled back the curtain and revealed an awful sight. You couldnât contain the scream that ripped through your chest at the sight; women, men, children, all dead, strung up by ropes inside the tent like meat. Their bodies were cut open, dripping blood everywhere. There were multiple coolers inside surrounding them, it was not a question to what they had inside.
Your stomach was in your feet as you struggled against Randallâs, now death grip, on both your arms.
âWhat is this?!â You screamed, struggling against his grip. Even if you were to break free, all the other men were just outside the tent.
You were trapped.
âOh, this? We like to steal stragglers like you in the woods, harbor their organs, and sell it on the black market. Womenâs organs sell the highest, and I can see why. Donât worry darling you wonât feel a thing.â He laughed into your ear as you struggled more against him and managed to elbow him in the stomach, he loosened a bit, but a laugh broke through him instead of the grunt you were anticipating.
âA feisty one. Iâm sure thatâs worked on others, but not me sweet thing.â He seethed before your world turned black. The men all laughed as they wrapped rope tightly around you, stuffing you into the corner of the room.
Randall laughed lowly, âWeâll be back for you later darling.â He snickered with his friends.
Mando was resentful after hearing your piercing scream rumble inside his helmet. He was running now, and he did not care about anything else, only getting to you. It sounded stupid in his head, how caring and downright angry he was right now, except that wasnât the worst of it.
Mando was scared.
He was not about to let you become their new donor in the black market, not at all. But he was also not about to lose someone he was starting to consider his friend.
He hated to admit that though, but it was true.
He hasnât heard a peep from the other end of the commlink for awhile now. All he heard were the events of what happened a few minutes prior. Your scream, Randallâs voice in your ear, and then nothing from you afterwards. He listened to the men after you went silent start to discuss what they were going to do to you. He knew they were dangerous from the moment Karga talked about them at the cantina.
He was regretting taking this job now. But that didnât matter right now.
Once he came up on the camp, he kicked the logs on the fire, drowning the flames in the dirt around it, causing the whole camp to be swallowed into darkness. They, unlike him, didnât have night vision. He heard the group talking lowly, mumbling a few words he was able to pick up from his helmet. It was along the lines of,
âWho the fuck left the fire so small?â
âYou did this didnât you Derek?â
âWas she with someone?â
âYouâre being paranoid.â
âShouldnât someone be with the girl?â
âShut the fuck up.â
Mando was smirking under his helmet. He was standing inside their tent now, completely surrounded in the darkness, anticipating that their next move was to come inside here. He had his blaster to stun pointed at the entrance. Mando was slightly disappointed that these men were their bounties, and you two came here for a reward.
If they werenât, he would love to give them slow deaths right about now. He hoped you werenât hurt.
He heard the rustling of the tent opening and aimed his blaster towards it, his finger quivering in anticipation over the trigger. He hopped Randall walked through first.
âLetâs just get the supplies and rip that bitch open- â
Blast!
The men jumped in sync. Mando assumed he hit Randall, since they all looked so shocked to see him now unconscious on the ground at their feet. As if they were one organism, all the men looked up and stopped breathing, similar to a child getting caught stealing candy, their eyes were bulging. It only fueled Mando on more.
Mando grinned under the helmet, âWelcome.â He spoke in his deep baritone voice. One of the men reached for their blade and Mando quickly stunned them down.
âTsk tsk, that is not how itâs going to work gentlemen, please allow me.â
Mando didnât hesitate to take them all down, giving them a few punches here and there to give them false hope, however they were no match for him.
It was almost too easy for him, but then he remembered that they were only smugglers. He could handle a thousand of them at a time if he had to, he has before.
After the fact, he focused his attention on retrieving you, and getting off this kriffing planet.
---
You awoke with a gasp, clawing at your chest. The last thing you could remember was Randall breathing down your neck, darkness, and the feeling of binds on your arms. However, the scenery around you told you otherwise. You furrowed your eyebrows and took in your surroundings. You were still at the camp the smugglers were in, which was odd to you. The fire was burning, and Mando was no where to be seen.
Was he okay?
You shook your head, of course he was, you thought. You noticed the blanket around you and the pounding in your head and the back of your eyes.
âDang farrick.â You whispered, rubbing your temples and felt the small gash on the side of it where Randall slammed the butt of his blaster on you. You sighed.
âHow are you feeling?â A voice said from behind you making you jump and turn. It was Mando, with some firewood hanging in his arms. It was an interesting sight, seeing a Mandalorian like him so domestic. He slowly walked over to where, you guessed, his sleeping mat was located and started adding the wood to the fire. You realized you were staring at him applying wood to the fire for a little too long and forgot to answer his question.
âUh- yeah, yeah Iâm fine. My head just hurts a little bit.â You answered, all of a sudden feeling shy under his gaze in the light of the fire surrounding you two. All he did was nod in return.
âThatâs good. You had a pretty deep gash on your temple, but the bacta patched it up pretty quickly.â Mando responded as he sat back against the log. You nodded and glanced around.
âWhat happened, after I become unconscious?â You whispered, wrapping the blanket around you when you felt a cold breeze on your torso. You noticed Mandoâs fist tighten into a death grip, the leather made a small squeak while doing so. He tilted his visor to the side looking away from you momentarily, almost as if he were grimacing at something sour in his mouth. The act confused you.
âMando?â You whispered, âwhat happened?â
He grunted and stood up fast. âWhat happened was you were too reckless to see that these men were dangerous! We should have taken them together and maybe they wouldnât have strung you up like a piece of fucking meat!â He seethed pointing a finger at you, his chest plate rising and falling rapidly with his increasing heartbeat. He felt a pit in his stomach at the sight of your face drop, his shoulders fell too.
You nodded. âIâm- Iâm sorry. It was idiotic of me to think I could face them alone and be vulnerable like that.â You muttered looking down at the mat. You knew that it was risky, the whole thing was. Not just the bounties but letting yourself get so open around him. However, after seeing what could have happened to you, you truly did feel guilty. As much as you didnât want to admit something like that to Mando, you knew it was the truth, plus he did save your life.
Mando dropped his pointed finger and sat down, closer than he was a few minutes ago and sighed.
âIâm sorry for snapping at you like that, but- theyâŚthey were going to harbor your organs, and whatever else they wanted to do to you. I couldnât stand by and let them do that. Iâm glad I got to them before they did again. Youâve- âhe shook his head and looked down. âYouâve become a good friend, and a strong ally.â He admitted looking back up at you, and found you already looking at him. Somehow you were looking directly into his eyes, despite the dark visor he wore. It made him feelâŚ
Seen, as if for the first time.
You smiled softy at him. âI appreciate that, I do. I believe we do make a good team, and Iâd consider you a friend too, and a decent ally. Even though you are a pain in the ass.â You chuckled softly. Mando shook his head, smiling under his helmet. You sensed there was something more he wanted to say, so you tilted your head at him.
âSay what you want to say Mando, I can sense there is something more you want to say.â You asked calmly, he turned to you and looked down.
âI found something while I was retrieving our things, something in your cloak.â Mando started, turning around as he did so and rustled around in his bag and pulled out your lightsaber. You could feel your heartbeat in your ears as you stared at the shiny metal in his hands. You looked down feeling guilty once again. Mando didnât take his eyes off of you though, âwhat is it?â he asked further.
You glanced at him and looked down at the saber. âItâs a lightsaber. I know I told you I didnât have one, but since weâre being so honest right now, I didnât trust you enough yet to tell you I had one.â You watched as he twiddled with it in his hand, it was almost mesmerizing. He didnât know what he was holding or dealing with.
âBe careful with that. You donât want to accidently impale yourself.â You grinned softly looking back up at him. He stopped his movement suddenly and set it down at your feet slowly, the act caused you to giggle slightly.
âSorry, I didnât mean to go looking through your stuff. I would be mad, but I understand what it means to have something for yourself.â He said, speaking softly. He knew what this probably meant to you, since you kept it hidden from everyone. It was something you knew you had that was specifically yours, and Mando felt the same way about his Creed. It was just his, and no one could take that away from him.
It was the softest youâve ever heard his voice go. You didnât know if it was because of the darkness surrounding you both or the fact that you two were finally coming to terms with letting go of the weird competition you two created, considering you two have recently just saved each otherâs lives in the matter of two days.
âDid you make it yourself? How does it work?â Mando asked now leaning back against his hands, intrigued with this weapon. Heâs heard of theseâŚwhat were they called again? Saber swords? Laser saber? He couldnât remember even though you just told him. He understood the Jedi used them; however, heâs obviously never met someone like that before.
Until he came close to you.
You picked up your lightsaber and nodded at him. âYes, I made it with my old master, but that was many years ago when people like me werenât hunted.â You said as you ran your fingers down the lines on your saber. You remember having to harvest the rare sap from a tree to build this wonderful weapon. Your master was amazing, and even though it was a short few years you still missed him. You missed everyone.
âThatâs why you kept everything so hidden, isnât it?â Mando said breaking your thoughts about your old master. Your shoulders dropped.
âI guess it isnât much of a secret anymore, at least not to you.â You looked at him, feeling slightly anxious with the information he now possesses. He could sense your discomfort and shook his head.
âIf your nervous about me telling anyone, I wonât. I know what the Empire was capable of, and if there is anyone like that still around then no one will know. You have my word.â He spoke strongly, as if to make sure you understood what he was saying was genuine. You felt instantly calm, he was radiating a comforting feeling and it helped ease your suspicions.
âThank you.â You smiled at him and put your lightsaber behind you.
âCan you, can you still wield it?â Mando piped in, making your head turn curiously towards him.
âWhat do you mean?â
âCan you still fight with it I mean, do you know how to fight with it, since you donât use it much to conceal your identity?â It was a good question. You knew you could still kill someone with it if you had to, but you were a little rusty on your sword fighting skills.
âI probably could, I mean Iâm a little rusty, but it wouldnât take long to pick it up again.â You shrugged, kind of liking how intrigued he was with the topic. He nodded while tilting his head, raising his arm out.
âShow me.â He asked, almost instructive making your gut fall to your knees. You just stared at him, cleared your throat, and stood up.
âSure.â You shook the feeling off, you were strong. You were not about to let a simple statement like that shake you, this was Mando after all. You two hated each other.
You always will.
You squared your feet with your shoulders, stepping back from the fire, and ignited your lightsaber. The sound rang through your ears and it caused your heart to flutter, you missed the sound of the absolute power of the lightsaber flowing through you. The white saber emitted light throughout your makeshift campsite and caused the Mandalorian to have a different glow to him as he watched you hold the powerful weapon.
To say Mando was entranced is an understatement, he didnât understand was he was feeling. He only knew that he felt drawn to you, like he was meant to be here in this exact moment and time.
âI think I can still do a few spins without cutting my leg off.â You joked and twirled it around your side and back, loving the sound it made cutting through the air. You brought it back in front of you and shrugged.
âThatâs pretty much all to it. Hard to spar with it when no one else has a lightsaber. It cuts through practically anything.â You smiled as you retracted it, sitting back down across from Mando.
âIt doesnât cut through pure beskar.â He piped in causing you to nod.
âYeah, thatâs why Mandalorians and Jediâs fought against each other. They were equally as challenging. But that was a long time ago.â You waved off the thought and yawned, feeling drained from today. Mando shifted and got more comfortable, feeling his eyes start to tug closed, but he knew he could survive off of a few hours of sleep. He didnât know how you would though.
âYou should get some rest.â Mando spoke softy as you started to lay down again. He only leaned back against the log, crossing his arms over his chest. Last attempt to try and cover his heart before he exposed it anymore to you.
âGoodnight, Mando.â You spoke softly as sleep took over you once again. Mandoâs heart stopped at the softness of your voice, he felt as if he suddenly turned to liquid at the sound of it. At that moment he now understood he couldnât cover his heart to you anymore, the thought terrified him.
âGoodnight.â

Triple Threat, Chapter 1 (Sequel to Trust)
TITLE: Triple Threat CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: Chapter 1 AUTHOR: fanficshiddles ORIGINAL IMAGINE: Imagine Loki kidnaps Darcy Lewis, in hopes of getting the tesseract in return for her. Imagine his surprise when he grows rather fond of the mortal, finding that she understands him better than anyone else ever has. RATING: M
SUMMARY:Â Darcy and Loki were enjoying their life, still annoying the Avengers. But one day, Loki from another timeline appears. After causing some mischief, he tells them that Jane is compromised with the aether and under Thanosâ control.

Okay, since I'm a rare pair monster: ThunderIron with Tony visiting Asgard and meeting Thor's parents? And Tony being super excited abt science and stuff? I'd love it if it also included a little heart-to-heart talk with Loki, where the friendship between Loki and Tony helps Thor to find the connection back to his brother... if that's something you're intrested in writing. Thank you!
Okay so this wildly deviated from the prompt but after four attempts of starting, stopping, and throwing away what Iâd written, this is what came out and since I donât write a lot of outsider POV, Iâm pretty pleased with it. I hope you are too!
Also on ao3 here
~
Itâs an accident that Frigga finds out about her sonâs future queen.
Sort of.
Itâs no accident that her sonâs future queen is on Asgard. Thorâs entire team is on Asgard for two months to learn their warriorsâ techniques and heâd warned her and Odin before he came that his future queen would be among them. So when they arrive, she eagerly looks amongst his team in an attempt to determine if thereâs one that her son seems closest to.
The problem is that Thor has been carefulâor accidentalânot to use a pronoun to describe the person heâs seeing and while âqueenâ is merely a term to describe Thorâs future spouse, be they man, woman, or any of the other thousand genders across the universe, Odin assumes that Thor must have been referring to the red-headed woman he walks beside as they enter the throne room, eagerly telling her about the wonders of Asgard.
âIf he were going to choose a Midgardian, couldnât he have at least chosen their leader?â Odin grumbles, missing the way Thorâs entire team pauses.
Frigga bites back a wince. Her husband has grown complacent in his diplomacy during his centuries as king but she hadnât thought he would say something like that.
âOdin,â she says softly, trying to warn him off, but he just frowns.
âShe isnât worthy of him,â he hisses and that at least goes unheard by all except Thor and the one in the spangled uniform judging by how they wince. âSheâll die before he is ready.â
âYou donât know that she is his chosen one,â she murmurs back.
Odin gives the others a dismissive look. âWho else would he choose?â
She isnât really that surprised when Thor doesnât introduce them to his queen during that first meeting.
She goes to Thorâs room later that night, after the feast, after Natasha and Clint have thoroughly trounced all but Sif and the Warriors Three and Tony has gotten himself set up in the forges, to find him sitting on the edge of the bed, holding a watch.
âIt was a gift,â he tells her as she sits beside him. âFrom Tony. It turns into a robot.â
Frigga has her suspicions then but she doesnât share them with him. It is Thorâs decision when he wants to tell her who he is courting and she wonât ruin that for him. âIâm sorry about what your father said,â she says quietly.
âHeâs hurt,â Thor says simply. âHe doesnât think highly of himself at the best of times and Fatherâs words hurt him. I donât believe heâs ever thought he deserves me. What Father said confirmed it in his mind.â
âNo one deserves another.â
Thor chuckles sadly. âTry telling him that.â
âI will once you introduce me.â She smiles to tell him that she wonât hold it against him if he decides not to and true to her expectations, Thor shakes his head.
âSoon,â he promises. âBut not right now.â
In the coming weeks, she sees her son divide his time amongst his teammates: with Clint on the ranges, with Natasha and Steve on the training grounds, with Bruce in the libraries. But if she wants to find him, she goes to the forge first because he can nearly always be found with Tony. The suspicion grows in her mind into a near-certain fact but she waits still for his confirmation.
And then she stumbles across them.
Itâs late at night, nearly a month after her son has returned home, and she intends on asking him if he plans to visit his brother during his stay. Thor isnât in his room so Frigga goes down to the forges though she isnât sure why he would be there at such a late hour. Their blacksmiths tell her though that Tony spends most of the night there, sleeping only rarely, and so she expects that thereâs a chance Thor is there too.
She hears them as she draws closer, murmured voices only barely audible above the noises of the fires .
ââyou donât like it,â Thor says softly, sadly.
âI do,â Tony reassures him. âDarling, your world is incredible and your use of language to describe concepts⌠Do you know, just yesterday, I was talking to one of your healers and they used the term âsoul forgeâ to describe what we would call a âquantum field generator.â I couldnât believe it; itâs amazing.â
âBut youâre not happy.â
Tony hesitates and then he admits, âI wanted your father to like me.â
âMy father doesnât like anyone.â
âThat doesnât make me feel better.â
Thor sighs heavily. âBeloved, I wish I could tell you that it will all work outââ
âBut you canât, I know.â Tony doesnât really sound upset, just disappointed, and Friggaâs heart breaks just a little.
âIâm sure my mother will love you,â Thor offers.
Tony laughs. âYour mother seems like she would love anyone as long as they loved you.â
âAnd do you?â
She can hear the smile in Tonyâs voice when he says, âYou know I do.â
âTell me again anyway.â
Thereâs the sound of a soft kiss and then Tony says, âI love you.â
âI love you too.â Another kiss. âAre you coming to bed soon?â
âIn an hour or so. I want to get this last piece finished. Thank you, by the way, for letting me use the forges. I need something like this in the workshop. Can you imagine what Iâd be able to get done?â
âIâd never see you again,â Thor says with a light chuckle. âIâm going back to the palace.â
âHmm, see you in a bit.â
Frigga doesnât bother hiding when Thor steps out of the forge. He raises his eyebrows at her, silently asking her for her opinion. She wonders if heâs silent because he doesnât want Tony to know that sheâs there. She smiles reassuringly and nods. Tony had put it best: as long as her son is loved, sheâs happy.
And Thor is definitely, decidedly loved.
