Predestined Couples Au.
Mai and Azula are predestined couples, they are both the most perfect suitors they can choose, their wolves immediately connected, they are perfect! It is not common to find your predestined partner, much less when they are very young, there is no mistake, they will be lovers!
Or so Azula thought.
Mai denies being his Alpha, she's in love with Zuko! Not Azula, she doesn't want to be his partner, she doesn't want to have that bond, not caring that it is almost impossible to find her predestined partner.
Then both agreed to never seal the bond, so that neither would depend on the other, so as not to suffer.
Until fate became angry because both girls denied their wolves to love each other.
On a mission, they both had their rut/routine, and the inevitable happened. Mai, furious, denied the Omega once more, not knowing that the bond was complete, so perfectly united.
And of course, without knowing that it broke the Omega's heart, without knowing that the two wolves moaned in pain because of what one heard and the other because of what he said.
And without both knowing or feeling it, the bond became stronger with the pain, causing one to suffer in the future.

Pls tell me more abt your divorced dad AU Ozai!! And his relationship with Ursa and his kids and how it all went down etc.! If you wanna :'D!
I’ll be completely honest I don’t have a full grasp on it I just apply my experiences with my dad and plaster ozai on it 😭 but I’ll try just for u PLS ADD IF YALL THINK ANYONES OOC OR LIKE ANY IDEAS YALL HAVE BC I SUCK AT WRITING
I ALSO HAVENT READ THE SEARCH SO BARE WITH ME
incoming yap sesh 🎉🎉
How Ursa and Ozai met and divorced (and Ozais side of things post divorce)
Ozai was in a completely different major to Ursa the fact they even saw each other in the cafe was a rare occurrence but Ursa caught Ozais eye
Being the kind of guy he is he would linger and watch her because he is cooked in terms of romance
Ursa made the first approach
Seeing Ozai and Ursa interact made Ikem uneasy because of the weird energy Ozai had but he let it slide after Ursa reassured him Ozai was normal (WATCH OUT IKEM HES MR STEAL UR GIRL)
Eventually, it came down to Ozai and Ursa becoming closer and Ozai finally growing some balls and asking her out (“Go out with me” “what”)
Since Ikem and Ursa still weren’t official but they had something Ursa asked Ozai to give her time and she chose to distance herself from Ikem and go out with Ozai ( NOOOOO URSA RUN)
it eventually became an official relationship with the whole meeting parents and family fun stuff (Ursa's family thought Ozai was ominous asf but they accepted their daughter's choices with a couple of complaints)
Ursa and Ozai's years before kids were pretty good until after they got married and Azulon started to pressure Ozai into his business (politics or whatever y’all want it to be) and the pressure to have kids
Ursa could see the way it was affecting Ozai but she made no comment because Ozai was impossible to get to talk about his emotions
When they finally had Zuko it changed them both Ursa looked at Zuko with love; Ozai looked at him looking for potential (despite the fact Ozai told Ursa he wouldn't be like his father)
On Ozai's part his mental health was lowkey in the gutter (but he never acknowledged that mental health is for losers not alphas like him) and he continued to compete for Azulons position in the company with Iroh
Iroh could give less of a shit btw he’s chilling with his kid
Ozai picked up smoking/vaping but he never did it in front of Ursa because he knew she would throw a hissy fit (in his eyes)
If anything by now Ozai and Ursa were drifting but Ursa decided to have another kid to see if that would bring them together and they could be a happy family
So when Zuko was 2 they had Azula and Zuko loved his new baby sister. As the kids grew up Ozai put pressure on them regarding school, martial arts, etc…
This made them grow distant and Ursa was becoming nervous because not only were her kids constantly fighting but her husband encouraged it
She tried to give Zuko as much love as she could to combat the harsh words he would get from Ozai and Azula, but in doing that she was losing Azula
She realized the source of the issue was Azulon and Ozai. She considered maybe killing Azulon but nowadays there’s forensic science so she just filed for divorce in hopes her kids can grow up without having Ozais influence
Ozai was sure she was divorcing him because she was cheating on him with Ikem. He signed the papers but the days leading up to the divorce were him arguing and trying to make her more miserable as “revenge”
Azula was angry with Ursa because she thought she was trying to take her away from her dad and she would ignore Ursa and latch onto Ozai (Zuko would latch onto Ursa but he was still hurt that they were going to leave Ozai because that's still his dad)
When they finally divorced Ursa took her kids to live in her parent's home and Ozai would drunkenly call her yelling abt how she’s Ikem's bitch and this and that
Eventually, things calmed down as time passed and Ursa was able to kindle some sort of relationship with Azula but Zuko was a mommas boy through and through
OH I FORGOT the whole Azulon dying thing doesn't really happen bro just dies of like falling down some stairs without his cane IDK LMAOOO and Iroh recently lost Lu Ten to a car crash so he just gave Ozai the company
Ozai's side of things post divorce
Ozai continued to live in the original families house but he would pick up Zuko and Azula on weekends.
He fought for weekend custody because like hell was Ursa gonna strip him of his company heirs
His nicotine habits worsened but when the kids came he would only smoke in the car (nicotine patches inside the home)
He continued to nurture the rivalry between his kids and let them do whatever they wanted as long as they didn't burn down the house (unlimited access to everything i wonder how bad that could go)
By the time the kids reached their tween/teen years Ozai just stopped picking them up as much; Zuko would feel so much relief when Ozai would call saying he was busy that weekend (also disappointment he wanted to prove himself to daddy dearest)
Zuko gaining his scar from Ozai was more of a Ozai going into a angry fit from being talked back to while he was by a source of fire (idk a candle i rlly dont know how a hand print would appear without magic fire powers)
When Ursa found out she immediately reported Ozai to CPS but as usual CPS lets Ozai off because he is a successful man (hush money...)
Ozai isn't allowed to have either kids over at his house because Ursa does not trust him in the slightest, but Azula still asks Ozai to pick her up for the weekends (she argues with her mom on this because in her eyes Ursa is trying to isolate her)
He stays awake at night wondering what he could’ve done better but then argues with himself that he was the best Ursa was ever gonna get (pov when your insecure but full of yourself at the same time)
I have nothing more to say sooo YEA sorry if its not like peak writing but ive never written a fic i just pace around my room and half of this stuff was made up on the spot

More a/b/o ATLA stuff because that ramble I made like a few days ago or something wasn’t enough to stop me from thinking about this stupid thing 😭 Sorry if this makes no sense I’m incredibly tired
Firstly, in that ramble I said healthy pups in ATLA present after their twelfth birthday. HOWEVER, I didn’t mention that in some cases, a pup can present earlier than their twelfth birthday due to harsh stress which causes a hormonal imbalance; the spirits assign your second gender earlier than expected so that it can balance your system out again. The earliest a pup can present is ten and a half.
With this said, I believe that Sokka and Katara all presented earlier than expected. In my AU, Hakoda left when Katara was ten and a half and Sokka was eleven years old and. A few months later (around 2 or 3 months) Sokka presented early due to having the weight of his entire tribe on his shoulders. Katara also presented early from a similar reason at eleven years and seven months old.
I know that with this logic, Toph and Aang probably would have presented earlier as well, but Toph was already twelve when they first met her and I don’t know much about her home life, other than the fact it was restrictive. Aang encased himself in ice when he was twelve and from the flashbacks we see about his past, he wasn’t very stressed (not to say he wasn’t stressed at all, of course).
I’m not sure about Azula or Zuko. Azula prides herself on being perfect and honestly? I think she would present the day she turned twelve, right on the perfect dot. Zuko had to deal with the trouble of his father’s… everything, and his mother’s disappearance. I don’t know for certain whether I believe he presented early or not but if he did present early, it was most likely when he was eleven and a half. Again, not sure.
Unfortunately there’s little to no information about Suki’s past (that I know of) so I can’t be for sure about anything nor can I truly talk about her without doubting myself 🙁.
OOH another thing. (If it’s not obvious I just type what comes to my head.) There was definitely a lot of conflict between Sokka and Katara when she presented as an Alpha; it wasn’t easy for either of them and they got into a lot of fights the first few months of her presentation, as newly-presented Alphas are a lot more emotional and angrier until they mellow out. Add a moody, angry Katara with a moody, sensitive Sokka (who is still somewhat new to being an Omega and is also stewing in self-hatred 24/7) and you get Chaos. And angst, lots of angst.
Right. In this AU, Sokka struggles with embracing his Omega side, hating himself for being a ‘weak babymaker’ or something else horribly rude. Because he hates himself for being an Omega, he lashes out at others and exclaims his dislike towards Omegas publicly (much to Katara’s and everyone else’s nerves). He’s not the only one who struggles with his second gender, however. Katara has problems with her own Alpha-like tendencies, much like Zuko.
(I don’t know if it’s obvious but I mostly think about Sokka and Katara with this AU; Sokka’s my favorite character and I love sibling bonding and angst!! *pats Katara and Sokka* these bad boys can fit so much pain in them!)
Anyways. Yeah, I mostly feel like there would be a lot of fights between the water siblings. These fights would be where most of Katara’s issues with being an Alpha and some of Sokka’s issues with being an Omega would come from; they’d both do things they regret. Katara would probably be aggressive without thinking and Sokka would not be able to argue back due to his mind going into ‘Panic! Stay safe from angry and scary ass Alpha!’ mode.
Anyways more than JUST Katara and Sokka. The GAANG!!
The Gaang are all definitely Pack. Like absolutely family-core (save for Kataang and Sukka, or Zukka if that tickles your pickle or whatever the phrase is).
I feel like Katara was very protective over everyone, especially in the first season when it was just her, Sokka, and Aang. She doesn’t see Sokka as weaker or anything, but her mind just can’t calm down unless she knows her brother is safe. Sokka is just as protective though, but shows it in a different way. The only other time Katara was protective to the point it was downright crazy was when Zuko joined. Another Alpha around, a potential threat? Katara would go crazy, scenting everyone to make sure Zuko understood that if he hurt any of them, she’d kill him.
I think Zuko would make sure not to upset Katara in any way, staying away from the others and making himself appear smaller and kinder so that she wouldn’t get the wrong idea.
I think Sokka would be especially protective over Toph and Aang, since they’re both pups (well, until months after the end of the war).
Ok that’s all I’m about to fall asleep. I’ll probs write more lol 😭 Still obsessed with this stupid a/b/o au thing UGH!

Villain Within GM's Commentary:
The Major Minors
One of the first things that went into the creative pot of Villain Within was the choices system in the Mass Effect trilogy; if you choose to save zarnak from the turbo-moose in the first game instead of pursuing the sector's premier hygno-gem thief, in the third game, when the nydrongian conflict seems inevitable, zarnak will come out of nowhere to save the high cryptarch of Alpha Centuri! it makes for a very solid and measurable feeling of having your choices matter that really got me hooked, and which i really wanted to capture for my campaign. Another big influence on the campaign was the web serial Worm by wildbow, which really went big on giving a genuine-feeling portrait of teenagers risking their lives to fight supervillains in a world where teens risking their lives wasnt completely uncommon- and a world where they could very well die- the Brockton Bay Wards (apt viewers may also notice that Delburn is like. very similar to brockton bay in general). Armed with these two principles, an idea occured very naturally to me while cooking up the campaign- a teenage superhero team who might not survive.
Sunforce
Like most of the characters, Proto-sunforce was a major character in the New Frontiers story concept, a headstrong bruiser who was cocky but kind, and who would have been part of a team senior to the protagonists, including proto-evolution and proto-scrapmetal. She also would have had a tragic romance with proto-Biobrute, but ill describe that in more depth when i get to them. honestly the only thing i really kept between the two versions of the character was her powers; she can make luminous doubles of her torso and limbs that may overlap with both one another, but must overlap with the original, giving her superhuman durability, strength, speed and making her a nightmare to fight in melee. the Villain within version is basically Captain America if he was an 18 yr old with anxiety and a saviour complex- she frantically tries to de-escalate fights even while throwing punches and (in my opinion) manages to toe the line exactly between being hopelessly idealistic and dangerously competent- something which really took the party by surprise [ :) ]. I ended up also making her civilian identity a friend of Nina- the overworked med student roommate of Marsh, one of the PCs. This was largely because i wanted to make the world more interconnected, but also partly because it occured to me that they would get along well.
Ghost Knight
Ghost knight has maybe the funniest discrepancy between his New Frontiers and Villain Within charactarisation- Proto-ghost knight is this Soren/Zuko hybrid, determined to make up for the crimes of his family (and his ruthless azula-esque sister, proto-grindstone) and willing to tear his family legacy down to do what's right. By contrast, in Villain Within, Ghost Knight is basically a 2013 Sasuke kinnie with enough bravery and sickass superpowers to back it up. In a running theme with the major minors, the players didnt take him very seriously until he sliced their getaway vehicle in two with a single blow, and even then continued to make fun of him, albeit from a safer distance.
Techno-Boy
Techno-boy is quite the oddity in this campaign, because he wasnt developed out of a New frontiers character or even rp character- in the early stages of development, Villain within was going to be set in the same universe as Hero Within: Heroes Rising, and Techno-Boy was intended to be a returning character from that campaign; the little brother of the PC hero Soulcide, Asher Hue, who was often referred to in-game as 'The Boy' and demonstrated an affinity with gadgets. His initial charactersation was largely taken from Asher himself, with much of his hero design coming from Kid Win from Worm; a spider-man style quipping boy genius, with a list of personalised taunts that i prepared ahead of each session he appeared in. Completely unexpectedly, Techno-Boy had some pretty major character development- later on in the campaign, when after the Abomination Event left large parts of the city in ruins, he appeared helping Rewind-up 'Homeless Columbo Spiderman' fight off the party, and i suddenly found while reading his quips that he was like. genuinely mean-spirited with his taunts now, rather than just having fun? and yeah suddenly i found myself with a 15 year old who had become jaded and down in the face of a city getting worse every day, but who still tried to put on a brave face for the people who looked up to him. and i was like fuck. Anyway this sudden depth he developed made him the perfect candidate to be impersonated by the shapeshifter Nightlock when he tried to get information out of the (now defected) PC Velocity with an imitation of Techno-Boy's previously genuine cheer.
Miss Mist
Funnily enough, for the very last character to be put on the 'Major players of delburn' list on the discord, the character concept Miss Mist (Valentina, to the party) comes from is by far the oldest. The Endermaster was a minecraft OC i made when i was around 11 (before i even knew such a thing existed) to the song 'Skyfall'. he was an enderman/human hybrid with the ability to dissociate his body into 'enderparticles' with the ability to teleport objects they touched. He then proceeded to be my go-to RP character on the bungie.net forums (in hindsight it was very funny that I, an 11 year old, was taking offense at being accused of being 13) and was used as a side character in various later rps. When one of my players at the beginning of the campaign informed me his character Sandtrap (capable of dissociating his body into particles of sand) was a ruthless killer with two young children, I was immedately like. One Of Them Will Get The Endermaster Powers. And He Will Unknowingly Fight Them. The unlucky preteen ended up being Valentina, a 9 year old who the party would have ample time to get to know when comedic mishaps resulted in them babysitting the pair of children while they did supervillainous stuff without letting the kids know about it (so that Sandtrap would retain partial custody of his kids). This also provided a few nice moments including Marsh choosing to shield the kids from a malfunctioning robot with her human body (rather than expose her werewolf form) and Sandtrap getting the kids Mcdonalds. however disaster would strike when Sandtrap dropped out of the campaign! fortunately due to the party's previous involvement i managed to stick the kids to Nina (part of the Marsh Extended Universe) by having her become their babysitter while Sandtrap was off making Operation Desert Storm literal. this all ended up fitting together brilliantly in the end though! when the Abomination Event happened, it let me have the kids and Nina all in one place for the party to try and rescue from the abominations- The party fights off the abomination while Saviour tries to evacuate the building, and via their (honestly very impressive) efforts, almost everyone is saved! save for Valentina, who is nowhere to be found, leaving half the party to fruitlessly claw through the rubble to find her. (sorry marsh!) Then after that, the mysterious (mist-erious) monstrosity Mister appears and acts erratically all over the place, lashing out, unable to speak or commuicate at all until she corners Marsh in the midst of a heated battle (a happy coincidence was that her powers deal Sonic damage, which is Marsh's weakness) and they have a very melodramatic confrontation that ended up resolving with with tears all around. So it all worked out well in the end!
Bio-Brute
Frontiers' Proto-BioBrute, who is also proto-proto-Bookkeeper, was an ecology-themed magic scientist in doomed yuri romance with proto-Sunforce, and had the ability to assimilate the physical traits of animals into her own body for a short time, making her laboratory largely resemble a victorian zoo. Needless to say, hubris and angst and tragedy would have happened and she would have ended up an ever-mutating monstrosity ripe for 200,000 word fix-it aus on ao3. While the tragedy of her character never went anywhere, and much of her sci-fi horror monster material went into proto-bookkeeper and eventually bookkeeper himself, the powerset and mix of academic curiosity with eventual animalisticness found itself a new form in Bio-Brute, the Major Minors' ever-changing monstrosity. Now, it is just now occuring to me that the players never found about this, but a major defining character trait of Bio-Brute is that they are Six Year Old lab experiment; they appear to be an unintelligent bully of a hero, while their actions are actually those of a remarkably bright child with very impressive anger-management skills. Bio-brute's powers were also a hoot to play with; because they adapted to every foe they faced, i got to really play with designing a monster ideally suited for defeating the party. Unfortunately the players were very good at planning their escape from their employer Igneous, so i never ended up being able to use the setpiece i had prepared around them being ordered to hunt down Bio-Brute in their (believed) civilian identity, a burly delinquent very protective of his seemingly innocent younger sibling, who would have a very weak stomach for their brother putting himself on the line for their safety.
Endnote
it might not be clear from the way i detailed these characters in the post but i really did succeed on the mass-effect style 'choices matter' element of the Major Minors' whole deal; honestly im still impressed that none of them ended up dying; in their first appearence Bio-Brute was almost beheaded by Sandtrap and the party considered killing several members at various points, never actually getting around to it. Igneous's plan involved killing all of them, and it was only via some very clever scheming that the party got out from igneous's thumb before they had to go through with said plans. I had plans for if one member died, if all of them died, if all but one member died (my second favourite outcome) etc. and their survival did very much come back to effect the players later on in the campaign! Nina and Velocity both got rescued by Sunforce at one point, the Major Minor's contributions offscreen during the Abomination Event was a big part of the party getting to the big fight as quickly as they did, and if the players had been defeated in the final battle against igneous, The Major Minors would have been the ones to rescue them, at great personal cost, leading to a (sadly(?)) never-realised arc where igneous would hunt the party down personally.

Azutara!Katara: You're sure leaving her with another one of your variants is a good idea? Azutara!Azula: I mean, no. But it's pretty clear she needs a bigger support network than just us! And this is me saying this! Azutara!Katara: Okay, that I get but...another one of you? Azutara!Azula: Look, the way I see it, she needs to trust somebody who went through the same stuff she did. And this variant swore up and down she had a similar Zuko. What could go wrong? *cut to Comics!Azula talking with MWC!Azula* Comics!Azula: So...your Zuko dangled you over a cliff and tried to burn your face off too? MWC!Azula: Surprisingly, yes. He was going to do it too. Comics!Azula: What stopped him? MWC!Azula: He pissed off a giant alpha predator lizard earlier that day and the latter wanted him dead. Comics!Azula: ...people say my timeline is messed up?
Was talking with @emluckyowl and we believe that in a multiverse of Azula’s Azutara!Azula and Azutara!Katara should get to adopt comic!Azula and take her to a place where she’d be loved and cared for.
Azutara!Katara: Babe, we’re adopting your variant.
Azutara!Azula: Katara, she’s literally another version of me. She’s 17!
Azutara!Katara: And legally can be adopted. We’re taking her back to our universe.
[ Later. ]
Azutara!Azula: Does this mean she’s also your girlfriend?
Azutara!Katara: No. She’s more your troubled twin sister.
Azutara!Azula: I still think this is a bad idea. She’s incredibly violent. She could hurt you.
Azutara!Katara: *Looks over at Comic!Azula who’s mumbling to herself and rocking back and forth*
Azutara!Azula: I mean…
Comic!Azula: Mother…why…why did you plot against me?
Azutara!Azula: Fine.

FINALLY, A/B/O Yue/Azula for @twird96.
Omega/omega A/B/O, because I CAN. There is literally no reason for Azula and Yue to ever form a romantic attraction to each other so of course Azula gets the first crush of her entire life when she gets sent to prime the Northern Water Tribe for conquering with “polite” manipulations and meets Princess Yue. She is in genuine shock and may need to go have a lie-down. Ty Lee thinks it’s adorable. Mai is concerned she might have a fever or something.
“She smells like fresh fire flakes,” Azula says in appalled disbelief, hugging her pillow. “Not to us,” Mai informs her. Azula DESPAIRS. What does that mean?! What does that EVEN MEAN?!?! That they’re compatible mates, probably, which is the LAST thing that will EVER occur to her. Compatible mates are not a concern that Azula has ever so much as considered in her life, ever.
“A pleasure to meet you,” Yue says the next day, all polite and super-repressed and fake chill like she is. It takes all of Azula’s considerable self-control not to either a) blush or b) catch on literal fire. Ty Lee thinks it’s even MORE adorable. Mai is considering getting a healer or something.
Everyone in the NWT is stupid and has no idea, no matter how awkward Azula gets. Why would an omega be crushing on another omega, after all? That’s ridiculous. Also Yue is obviously going to marry handsome and accomplished alpha Hahn one day and so why would she even notice anyone else ever, right? Never going to occur to them as a possibility, ever. Why would it? A pair of omegas would never be COMPATIBLE, after all, much less even interested in each other!
Meanwhile, Azula is writing Yue’s name in fancy High Fire script in the corners of all her treaty drafts and plotting a romantic kidnapping.

Dehumanization in Otome Isekai: Are Evil Women Born Evil or Made Evil?
A popular trend in Otome Isekai right now, or rather, common trend is the dehumanization of characters, particularly villains, and particularly... female villains.
Now, that is not to say that a lot of male characters aren’t dehumanized, but I feel there is a clear difference between a man who acts on his sexual desire and need for power to rein in a woman as is commonly seen and... a woman who is cruel for the sake of needing an alpha b*tch villainess (like, a “true” villainess but that is a conversation for another time). Because one is rooted in a pattern commonly seen irl in abuse relationships and misogyny built from upon centuries ago and the other one is a rare form of denial for any layer of depth to female characters. Female villainesses (antagonists) are time and time again denied any form of depth by the author, mainly because authors (authoresses?) want YOU, the audience, to hate the villainess as much as possible, but in doing so, perpetuates a... weird trope. The real question is: should the trope be a common thing?
There’s absolutely no question that everyone has their different tastes, but these one-dimensional female antagonists feel tasteless, especially in the face of their true potential. Take Mielle from The Villainess Turns the Hourglass, for example. She’s probably the worst of the dehumanized-antagonist syndrome (as I like to call it) because it’s revealed that she doesn’t hate Aria simply for being a commoner, but it’s more of a psychopathy-narcissism thing.
There’s an important distinction to made here: Rather than Mielle being made evil by growing up with these horrible ideals, learning them and cultivating them into bad behaviors, Mielle was just born evil. But the thing is, Mielle being born evil weakens the narrative a LOT, especially in the face of themes such as classism and corruption of wealth and whatnot.
Is it... misogynist to have your women born evil?
Now, there IS a disconnect from real life, I have to mention. Female Psychopaths are, obviously, a real thing, but to what point does media have to abuse the stereotypes of these women to make their female antagonists? And the truth is, even PSYCOPATHIC WOMEN irl are, indeed, human. If you look at the greatest female villains, yes, they display traits of narcissism, but the writers of those media (Elena from Little Fires Everywhere, Azula from ATLA, etc.) make sure that they portray ALL sides of these women, making sure YOU understand that they weren’t born evil. They are just humans who do evil things, strayed from the path, and honestly? It’s FINE to have evil women in media, to have female antagonists, but we have to ask... is it FINE to have your women evil with no other depth to them, to have your women cruel because they were born to be cruel, and have women serve no other purpose than to make YOUR female protagonist look better?
Is that all evil women are cut out to be?
As an author/authoress, I believe that people have the right to control their own narrative, to make characters that stand for something. I really cannot see why women HAVE to be born evil, even giving them a simple motive does wonders. Mielle didn’t HAVE to be born evil, she could’ve represented an extreme of aristocrats, shown that she was taught horrible ideals, and in the end, it’s FINE because we understand that perpetuating those horrible ideals still means she has to be taken down. It is fine to humanize your female antagonists, or any antagonists, because if you HAVE to dehumanize your antagonists to make the audience hate them, then you might want to think twice about how engaging your media really is.
I understand Otome Isekai is said to be a “low-brow” type of genre, much like YA romance novels, but I think it is sad to be watching all this wasted potential go down the drain. It is wrong to feel like Otome Isekai is a progressive feminist-type genre when tropes like these still linger around the most popular and hailed novels, and I absolutely LOVE Otome Isekai but I think it is also important to view some of its tropes with a more critical eye. I hope any rising OI enthusiasts who are writing their own novels can think twice before making another one-dimensional two-faced bitch with no backstory, no real personality beyond “cruel”, no nothing.
As someone who often adores villain/villainesses characters, isn’t it ironic that we have to dehumanize actual villainesses to make our female protagonists seem more human?

Secondhand Hearts - A Zukka Omegaverse AU
In my post about other fic ideas, I originally described this one as “Omegaverse fic where Zuko is banished like in the show, but Ozai also gives him away to Zhao” which, I admit, is pretty vague and says jackshit about the actual goings on in the fic. But I’ve actually thought a lot about this AU, and it’s one I’ve had in my head for the longest time.
This is also kinda the completely opposite of the Piandao/Zuko fic I’m currently writing, Heaven Sent/Hellbent.
Before anyone gets too far ahead of themselves diving into my notes here, I do want to stress that in this fic Zhao is an evil, awful, irredeemably terrible person. Do not think that I in any way condone what I have him do in my fics. With that being said, please mind the following warning.
Warnings for this one include: physical/mental/emotional abuse, rape/non-con, child marriage, arranged/forced marriage/mating, mentioned pedophilia, traumatic pregnancy/childbirth, racism/classism, and slutshaming towards Omega. If any of these topics are triggering for you, please do not continue any further.
Background: As I mentioned before, this story begins with the premise of Zuko being shipped away from home after his father burns him in the Agni Kai, but with a sick twist. Zuko was also given to Zhao, as he had been recently presented as an Omega, and Ozai thought, what better way to curb Zuko’s “rebellion” then by putting him under the thumb of one of his most trusted loyalists? Zhao is an Alpha already shown to be cut from the same cloth as Ozai, and with Zuko married off Ozai could focus his efforts more fully in the war and bringing Azula up as he wished.
Zhao was just as harsh and demanding of Zuko as Ozai expected. While recovering from the burn, Zuko could do little about Zhao’s advances. Zuko already had a mating bite on his neck by the time he finally was able to remove the bandages from his face, and any time he might have tried to escape, Zhao merely had to Alpha Command Zuko to stand down. Once Zuko managed to convince one of the Alpha crew of Zhao’s ship to help him escape but the plan was discovered, the Alpha was executed, and Zuko was commanded to never speak when an Alpha or Beta could hear him again. (Of course, this meant Zuko could only talk to other Omega, but that was more of a cruel joke of Zhao’s because there are no Omega on his or any other Fire Nation ship, and Omega are rare enough it was unlikely Zuko would ever encounter an Omega without another Alpha or Beta around.) This was when Zuko had barely turned 14.
Years passed like this, Zuko practically chained to Zhao’s bed, but something strange happened when Zuko turned 19, which is where the Story Begins: Despite having waged war against the Earth Kingdom and won many battles, suddenly the letters from home stopped. Not that Zuko received letters but he recognized the seal of the Fire Lord, and Zhao had stopped receiving orders for several months.
Zhao then got it in his head to return home but only after taking another prize for the Fire Nation as a gift for the Fire Lord. He decided to invade the Norther Water Tribe, which had mostly managed to stay neutral during the war by keeping its borders closed. Zhao pleaded with them to allow his boat to dock and relieve his crew’s exhaustion, but the real clencher for their sympathy was Zuko, who at this point was very heavily pregnant. It wouldn’t be safe for him to give birth on the open sea without more than a naval surgeon to see to him, or at least, that was the story.
As it was, Zuko really was pregnant but he could see an evil plan from Zhao a mile away. Desperate to actually do something to stop his mate from destroying a beautiful, thriving community, Zuko chose to play the perfect, demure Omega while there (not far off from how he normally acted at this point, considering he so rarely had the freedom to take matters into his own hands) and waited to gain enough trust to be left alone with only his “escort,” a Water Tribe Alpha sent to basically spy on Zuko’s and Zhao’s chambers on the premise he was there to “guard” a precious, pregnant Omega.
This Alpha was Sokka, who had been living with the Northern tribe for several years at this point. He and Katara had revived the once-lost Avatar from a block of ice as children, but being encased in ice had some dire effects on the last living Airbender. Aang needed more help than the Southern tribe could provide, but leaving meant abandoning their last remaining families, which wasn’t ideal either. It was eventually decided that everyone remaining of the South Tribe would pack the rest of their meager belongings and plead to return to the North. It was a treacherous journey, but they managed to make it mostly unscathed.
With Aang still recovering and remembering himself, the tribe rallied around the young man and helped to hide him amongst themselves. Sokka had been training more to be a warrior, and Katara had been training secretly to learn how to fight as a waterbender. Yue, at this point already mated to Hahn, is also pregnant with her second child. And it’s with these players in place that the Fire Nation infiltrate the Northern Tribe for Zuko’s last month of pregnancy. It’s not going to be easy to win over a mistrustful, foreign Alpha, especially when Zuko can’t talk, but through Sokka he hopes to stop another genocide by undermining his own Alpha’s plans, while still not fully understanding them himself.
This story is going to take a LOT of planning, I’m really going to have to hammer down my timelines in this fic before I even attempt to write it, but it would entail some interesting interactions. Zuko is at a huge disadvantage, but he’s the only person who can save them.
I also really like the idea of also giving Zuko a stutter and some selective mutism even when he doesn’t have to worry about Betas and Alphas around him. Just throw in another wrench into the works, see how he can overcome the odds stacked against him. The story would also have an aftermath part, where Sokka, Katara, Zuko and Aang leave the Northern Water Tribe eventually, but I have little thought out into all of that.
Anyway, that’s it for now.

okay so here is my little bullet point story for the httyd au lol, hope you guys like it
love amongst the dragons
this is a zuko centered au but the story actually begins with how sokka got foof
sokka and hiccup are one no one can change my mind
the swt hunts dragons because dragons hunt them, same thing as httyd
so basically the httyd storyline isn’t zuko’s story but sokka’s
he shoots foof (sprinkle of saber tooth moose lion mixed with night fury, mostly changing the size and teeth – foof would look almost exactly the same as toothless but is taller, has bigger legs, is bigger in general and well the saber tooth of course – also night furies aren’t extinct!)), not because he cant actually participate in the hunting, he’s perfectly allowed, but he creates these machines and people are like just use a spear like the rest of us lol
he shoots the saber tooth night fury down and no one believes him so he’s like “okay fuck it im gonna go find it”
he does indeed find him, foof is too cute, sokka instantly loses the battle, he doesn’t wanna fight dragons anyway
he keeps foof a secret until katara one day sees sokka sneaking away while she’s practicing water bending (the war doesn’t exist, there’s just problems in the fire nation – so the SWT is full of people)
katara is like sokka what the fuck are you doing
sokka cant lie to katara, he can charm anyone else but not katara,, sisters are charm proof
anyways events of httyd proceed to happen
sokka learns how to fly, learns stuff in general about dragons
katara is kinda like the astrid but she’s like confused at the beginning bc sokka’s getting too good at handling dragons and she’s sus
they both get good with dragons after that
until they find another dragon when they were flying around
a Very Large tm dragon
basically a water dragon, inspired by the unagi but from the south pole, it can leave the water but it prefers to live in the deep ocean
katara loves her, she starts “practicing” water bending at a special spot so one can find her, only sokka and her know where it is since they found it while flying
blah blah blah the swt proceeds to have a happy ending and everyone gets a dragon
the swt starts a life with dragons this time and they believe they are the only ones doing this (aside from the air nomads) (there is no war so aang is born 100 years later)
BACK TO ZUZU
Crown prince zuko and soon to be chief of the swt sokka are penpals, they’ve met eachother once or twice, sokka never tells him about the dragons
The fire nation has few dragons left
The fn is the birthplace of all dragons, but they have very little dragons now, they hunt them for fun
It is a ritual for the crown prince to kill a dragon and bring to the palace its heart
ozai is aware that there’s only one dragon left in their territory and the last dragon nest is weeks away
he sends zuko anyway and zuko goes, but he really doesn’t want to kill a dragon
he finds one, he goes through all that same stuff sokka (hiccup) went through with “he looked just as scared as I was” so he lets the dragon free, the dragon isn’t hurt so he can fly away but he doesn’t
he knows zuko won’t do anything to harm him so he stays with him
zuko doesn’t know wtf to do so he does what he knows always sets him in the right direction
he writes sokka a letter and tells him exactly what happens, about the dragon (his name is druk obviously) and how he doesn’t have any idea about what to do, he hopes sokka can reply as soon as possible and if he has time he can come to the fn and help him, he’s an engineer right? He can help him build stuff for druk, right??
He sends the hawk with the letter, knowing it’ll reach sokka in about week, since he’s farther south right now, so he expects sokka’s answer in two weeks
He most definitely is not expecting sokka to get there a week later riding a dragon the color of the night sky, you’d think the dragon was black if it wasn’t standing under the sunlight
Zuko hasn’t seen sokka in a few years, so he’s not exactly the same as he was back when they were still 19 (they’re 21 and 22 now)
Sokka isn’t expecting to see zuko with a supposedly extinct dragon when he gets there tho
He’s fascinated by druk (also zuko looks very pretty)
Sokka teaches zuko everything he knows about dragons, how to fly them, how to treat them, everything (they’re like little dates but they don’t mention that, they’re buddies tm)
Zuko comes back to the fn and he finds out that ozai is planning to wipe out the last nest, so zuko tries to stop him
And ozai lashes out so druk appears to protect him, and ozai is like oh bitch you’ve done it now and his little army is about to attack both zuko and druk when sokka and foof (both were hiding there in the palace) do a sneak attack and get them both out
Azula sees all of this from the shadows (this is important)
Zuko and sokka grab some stuff and leave the fn
They fly to the swt, zuko’s nervous about ozai’s plan but sokka knows that once they get home and set up a plan he’ll be okay
Once zuko lays eyes on the swt he goes holy fucking agni and sokka laughs so hard he almost falls off foof
The swt is built to house dragons and such, it really is a sight to see
They make a plan and basically go all out, the swt and the air nomads are good buddies, so aang is there with his cloud jumper (appa!!!!! Flying bisons exist but they’re like very important to the air nomads and people don’t ride them, they just vibe)
Aang is the avatar, so he has a deep connection with alpha dragons (the bewilderbeast)
They all make a plan, and they start flying to the fn, katara takes her big ass unagi like dragon, but she goes underwater with aang following her from the skies (they’re trying to find an alpha to ask for help)
They get to the nest before the troops, and stand their ground
It seems like they’re about to lose when katara appears with her dragon, the cloud jumper and aang in the avatar state on top of an alpha
The battle ends quickly after that and zuko and sokka are like !!! we did it and they share a sweet little kiss bc I say so (currently listening to coming back around and it’s making me emotional)
Azula appears after all this in sokka’s room (he’s staying at the fn palace for a bit to help the fn get adjusted to the new dragon rules) sokka hasn’t gotten the chance to talk to azula much, but he knows she isn’t opposed to dragons (or that is what it looks like)
His answer comes in the form of azula actually asking him for help, because she’s been hiding two dragon eggs for about two years
Sokka’s like!!!!!!!!!! Yes I can help!!!
She takes him to the eggs and he realizes that he hasn’t seen those types of eggs before but the coloring of the egg indicates that they are fire nation born dragons (they’re bright orange at the top and dark red at the bottom)
He asks if she found them near a volcano and azula’s like, hm yes but are you aware this palace is IN a volcano, and sokka’s like oh yeah right, and he tells her those are most likely dragons that live inside volcanoes and they like extremely hot temperatures so she should keep them near lava or with constant heat
Azula takes note of everything, and she starts going to sokka if she needs advice with her dragon eggs
Azula: how long until they hatch? Sokka: you gotta wait, depending on the dragon they can take from 2 to 5 years to hatch Azula: hm okay
Time passes, zukka dancing and singing to the dancing and the dreaming is all I need in life (will draw tomorrow)
Anyways yes sokka and zuko start living their best life riding their dragons under the moonlight and early in the mornings watching the sunset from between the clouds the end <3

Any long chartered fics you mind sharing ?
anonie, i don't think i understand what long chartered means since im not advanced at english but 😔 if you mean long chaptered and word counts, i have like, tons of them! you can tell me what fandom you're into or else i'll be confused on how much to include. these are a fraction of my faves, ninety percent atla;
✧ atla x boku no hero academia [crossover]
in his elements by writergreenreads (complete, time travel, 115k word count) best crossover i've ever read. bamf aang-centric! lots of epic action with avatar in duty of both worlds. the a:tla villains are zhao and general old iron. bryke and co nearly failed to explore aang's childhood hardship as survivor, but this story does a perfect job on it. aang's scenes with the teachers, their problem kids, the whole gaang, and the spirits is something that i crave. when gyatso appeared and whenever aang told his pain to my man aizawa, i fucking cried.
✧ zuko/aang
avatar zuko series by the cloud whisperer (complete 6 books, 490k word count) has authentic cultural references. zuko and azula were twins; the first was born as the avatar, the latter was declared as one. it has everything we want, written with justice, especially for us fire royal family stans. lu ten is alive and the story just went epic from that, giving lots of twists for the plot. thanks to this series i almost forgot the actual one because, damn, every chapter is lit!
of sunflowers and chrysanthemum by thewriterscottage (ongoing, 42k word counts, horror and mystery) it has japanese mythology and folklore, along with intriguing spiritual and societal issue of war crimes which is why this is a diamond in the rough. shamanistic scenes are written superbly. there's always another side of a character being explored that you'll lost yourself in it. breathtakingly mystical.
duty and sacrifice by tumblinplace (ongoing, 49k word count) older zukaang as spouses binded by peace treaty, becoming fugitives together after agni kai. prepare for big yearning moments because this hits hard with its journey of placing duty and trust before one's own heart. characters dynamic are not only perfect, but insightful to the whole plot. now this one is my childhood dream come true.
100 years too late of harmony series by team alpha wolf squadron (first part complete, 92k word count) another epic canon divergence with intricately written journey. starts off with the saga of aang being tagged along by zuko who's in blue spirit mode, both unaware of each other's identity. effortlessly hooks you up till the end. the unrevealed mysteries in this series really got me dying from curiosity. sobs.
after the flame, a pause by thetpot (ongoing, 20k word count). this should be made into canonical comic, like the continuation of "the promise". i've been into formal political situation, and what happened in this story truly captures the silent but lingering mess of post-war events for its influential figures. an absolute slow burn which always left me needing more.
go check the lovely blogs of those creators out for more amazing works @the-cloud-whisperer @mikhailasart @tumblinplace @thetpot ♡
✧ jeon jungkook/park jimin
the omega revolution by pinkbts (complete 16 chapters, 158k word count) lots of military and action, which is truly my stuff, especially since its a dystopian abo society where omega are cruelly treated like breeding cattles. i feel like this should be made into a blockbuster movie. not a jikooker yet if you haven't read this.
✧ sherlock holmes/john watson
red lights out by days of storm (103 chapters, 333k word count) sherlock holmes with formula one au is such a goddamn brilliant concept. if you like cars and mechanical stuffs, here's the right fic. although i haven't finished it yet myself, this fic is uh-may-zing. i don't know how the creator could fit detective story into formula one. pure genius.

if you keep moving, you will come to a better place
zukka, abo, omega!Zuko, alpha!Sokka, slow burn When Zuko presented as an Omega, he knew Ozai would find the worst possible way to get rid of him. He is to be married off to anyone who wins a stupid tournament. Zuko has other plans though, which include escaping and living his life however he wants. But it proves harder than expected. Cue Sokka enters his life, a non-bending Alpha unlike any he ever met. A marriage that may or not happen. And a long, weird roadtrip that shows Zuko the rest of the world is not as cruel as his Father made him believe.
AO3
Chapter 1:
Zuko was ten when he presented. Earlier than expected, and worse than anyone could predict. He still remembered those days vividly. After a visit to the doctor, he was scolted back to his rooms, which he was forbidden to leave. Nobody would look at him. The guards, usually gentle sometimes, avoided him. He could hear his mom and dad screaming at each other from the other side of the Royal Wing. Was he sick? Was he going to die? He didn’t feel like he was dying. He just felt alone, and scared.
When the door finally opened he almost jumped from the bed, waiting to see Uncle Iroh. His uncle never lied to him. But Azula waltzed in with a smile that never brought anything good.
“Guess what I just found out, Zuzu~”
“Go away, Azula. I’m not in the mood.”
Since their last presentation of Firebending progress to their grandfather, she’d been more smug than usual. Azula ignored him, tapping a finger to her lips as she studied him. She knew how to press his buttons.
“What?!” Zuko snapped.
“Hm… nothing. Just, I thought Omegas were prettier. But you still look the same.”
The boy’s heart froze.
Omega. Omega?
“You think it’ll make it harder to marry you off?” she continued, “Since, you know, that’s all you are good for now. Maybe they’ll give you to some old, gross man. Actually, I’m kinda sad. I really wanted to keep seeing you embarrass yourself in front of grandfather, but Omegas aren’t allowed to Firebend and all,” Azula chuckled, “At least it explains why you are so bad at it. Omegas are just… not made for that stu- Hey! I’m not done, come back!”
But Zuko wasn’t listening anymore, he was running before he noticed. Omega. He was an omega. Dad may not like him very much but he wouldn’t… he couldn’t right? Ursa and Ozai’s screams were too close, and before the guards could stop him, Zuko was opening their door.
“Dad!” he cried. He was an Omega. He was crying. He felt like the smallest thing in the world, yet he gathered all his courage for that moment. Zuko’s tiny fingers grabbed the red robes of his dad, his mom was trying to pull him away but he refused to budge, Dad, please! I- I don’t care that I’m just an omega, I promise I’ll try harder. I’ll get better! I’ll… I’ll train more, and master Bending, please, please don’t give me to an old man. Please, I pro-”
That part he remembered in flashes: Ozai’s pure look of disgust. His hand moving. Zuko braced for a slap. The heat, the unforgiving heat, he didn’t expect. It burned. It burned. It burned. Something smelled bad. The bright light died, and as everything went black, he heard his mom crying.
“Look at what you’ve done,” was the first thing Ozai spat when he woke up. The pain almost made it hard to hear. Actually it…  was kinda hard to hear. Why was his face covered up? What had happened? “Do you know how hard it’ll be to find you a mate now? Nobody wants a weak, scarred Omega.”
Ozai didn’t visit him again. Neither did Azula. Those days were spent in silence, in pain, Ursa cradling his body. Zuko wondered which of them was shaking.
He had ten years, still Zuko never got fully used to the scar. The way people turned their faces when they saw it was maybe part of the problem. He knew what they whispered about him, about how ugly it was, nobody would want a mate like that. Any partner he managed to find would certainly be just after his position. Correction: any partner his Father managed to find.
Zuko guessed he would find out in a few hours.
He stared at his reflection. Maids and servants only prepared married Omegas, Prince or not he was supposed to get ready by himself. It didn’t look so bad. His long dark hair half secured on a high ponytail with the Fire Nation symbol. The red robes also fitted him well, even though they were a pain in the ass to walk in. Zuko would gladly kill whoever had decided Omegas needed to wear so many layers of clothing. The most important part, the makeup, was missing. He didn’t exactly despise that part, but he despised how the paint would only bring more attention to his scar. He had angrily scrubbed it all off, better to endure his Father’s anger for one more day than to be mocked for walking around like a half-painted clown.
Mothers were allowed to help their unmarried Omega kids. Ursa probably would’ve managed to paint him well, she would’ve looked over his shoulder to their reflection and said Zuko looked beautiful. But she was gone.
Zuko let his fingers touch the golden earrings. They used to belong to her. That was when the door finally opened.
Uncle Iroh gave him a half-hearted smile.
“Are you ready?”
He had been the only person Zuko could count on for a decade. When he was banished from learning Firebending for being an Omega, Uncle Iroh would sneak him out of the palace late at night and teach him. When Zuko was prohibited from fighting, Uncle Iroh gave him double swords as a secret birthday gift and taught him how to master them. And when Zuko told him he was going to run away after today’s celebrations, it was Uncle Iroh who hugged him tightly and promised to help. Even though it would break his heart, Uncle Iroh always helped.
Zuko often thought his Uncle was probably the only decent Alpha in the world.
“Yes.”
Here is how an ideal life for an Omega would take place in the Palace: they would learn just enough to manage a household and attract a mate. After sixteen, Betas and Alphas would start courting them. By eighteen, it was normal to be married off to a mate that could bring status to the Omega’s family.
Here is what Ozai decided: Zuko would learn enough to manage a household. Nobody wanted to court him, he was too damaged, too much of a black sheep. Instead of marrying him to some foreign Prince or Princess, he decided to host a mating tournment. He invited nobles from all the world to fight for Zuko. Dogs fighting over a scrap of meat.
The marriage wasn’t even going to be officiated in the Fire Nation if a foreigner won. Zuko was theirs, and therefore no longer Ozai’s problem. Azula, who to nobody’s surprise presented as an Alpha at twelve, was his heir and all he cared about. Soon there would be high status Betas and Omegas begging for her hand and Zuko would only be on the way.
As always. Always on the way. A blemish on his plans, reflected by the one on his face.
Ozai didn't even spare him a glance when Zuko arrived at the podium, sitting on the smallest throne right next to Azula. The Palace courtyard was bursting with excitement. It was impossible to figure out which of those people came to fight or to watch. The complete lack of respect for the noble participants was unlike the Fire Lord, who would plan even the tiniest detail, showing there was a hierarchy and his place was at the top. It was just another sign of his disinterest, that tournament was not for him, it was to humiliate Zuko. And now, surely with any high ranking nobles leaving for what they would consider an insult to their status, he was left with…
“The rabble is very interested in your hand, Zuzu.”
He had an escape plan. It was not a question of if, but when. He had it all ready. He could firebend, he could fight, he had the money and supplies Iroh smuggled to him. Still, seeing how many old, terrible Alphas and Betas were in line to mate him was terrifying. Zuko’s biggest fear for years stared back as dozens of eyes: being forcefully mated off, raped and diminished to a baby-making machine until his death.
Happened with his mom, why wouldn’t he have the same fate?
A warm hand gripped his shoulder. Uncle Iroh sat on the last throne.
The drums begin playing, a mimeckry of his heartbeat.
No. No panicking. Zuko was gonna get out. A few hours, and he was out.
“By the way,” Azula whispered by his ear, looking as bored as ever, “Your runaway kit is ridiculous.”
Her hand grabbing his arm was all that stopped him from jumping away. The pit on his stomach grew, it felt about to swallow him whole.
“I don’t know what you are talking about,” he croaked.
“C’mon. You are not that dense,” she relaxed her grip, “Father doesn’t know about it. Yet.”
“What do you want, Azula?”
The first nobles stepped on the makeshift arena. Zuko couldn’t care less.
“A deal. Father just wants to get rid of you, but General Zhao has other plans. He thinks if he wins, you’ll give him some political leverage. He’ll probably try something stupid like killing me and putting one of your… spawn on the throne. I know, a complete idiot. I’ll kill him by the end of the year, I swear he is so boring…”
“What are you talking about,” his throat felt dry. Zhao was never part of any of his plans. Azula clearly knew that.
“Well. He set some of his agents on you," she shrugged, as if those were old news, "Here is what’s gonna happen: If he wins, you are on the heart of the Fire Nation, surrounded by his men and legally mated. There is no way you could escape.”
“Yes, I can,” Zuko gritted his teeth.
One of the contestans was knocked out. People cheered. The second round began.
“Be realistic, Zuzu. Now, if he doesn’t win one of the two things will happen: either some low-level Fire Noble wins. You are still stuck here. And his agents will probably try to make a widow out of you and he'll sweep in, oferring to take you. Daddy will agree, of course, you know it. Or, some Earth Kingdom nobody wins. Zhao is too much of an idiot to know how to infiltrate the Earth Kingdom, but he is set on making his agents follow you to the borders. Maybe he’ll try to make it look like an accident on the road. Who cares. The thing is, you will be out, then you can run. Unless… someone tells daddy dearest of your little plan.”
Zuko’s scar throbbed. He thought he was being so smart. But at every corner, Azula seemed to take pleasure in proving him wrong. He looked angrily at her with his good eye.
“What do you want ? Spit it out.”
If he weren't so immersed in his own desperation, Zuko would’ve been shocked at the way her face changed. Few people could see when her mask of cruelty slipped, and then, for a moment, Azula looked heartbroken. It was gone as soon as it appeared. He briefly wondered if he had imagined it.
“I won’t tell on you if you find Ty Lee for me. She is on Kyoshi Island. Tell her,” she forced the next words out, low and too sincere, and making sure Ozai wasn’t listening, “I wish there was another way.”
Zuko was taken aback.
“But- how would you even know I did it?”
“I know all about your stupid concept or honor. You would do it. And you wouldn’t use it to blackmail me,” Azula faked a yawn “Deal?”
Not like you are giving me a fucking chance here, Zuko thought. Yet, he muttered:
“Deal.”
He stared at the sea of green and red uniforms that made the crowd. Air Nomads would never participate in such a ritual. And the Water Tribes never seemed to care much about their business. The arena was already marked by Earth and Fire bending, each disgusting Alpha trying to out-Alpha the other. For a moment he spotted General Zhao and Zuko forced himself to take a deep breath. He thought he saw a flash of blue clothing, but it was probably a trick of the light.
Those few hours suddenly felt too long to endure. The third round was about to start.

Omega!Ty Lee pregnant with Azula puppies and headcanons of Alpha!Azula taking care of her pregnant mate
Thanks for idea, Amor!
Azula gets clingy on Ty Lee.
Ty Lee has to hide to have some alone time.
Azula perfumes her Omega completely with her pheromones.
Sometimes Ty Lee gets angry and yells at everyone saying they are useless.
Thanks to pregnancy hormones she kicked her Alpha out of the room.
Everyone in the palace could see Azula sleeping at the door of her room.
Ty Lee couldn't stand to see her Alpha for even a second.
That era ended and the horny era began, Azula had her reward!
She was definitely not going to get her Omega pregnant again because it hurt her to see how he rejected her.
She DEFINITELY wasn't going to get her Omega pregnant again when her three puppies were born.

Heat- Chapter 37: Burning Memories
The bell rings in the morning and Zuko shrieks, falling out of bed. Before he can hit the ground, Suki catches him and pulls him back up next to her.
“Hey, princess,” Suki purrs, holding Zuko bridal style with one arm.
Zuko flushes a deep red.
Suki laughs. “If Jet and Sokka hadn’t gotten to you first, I would have courted you.”
Zuko lets out a small smile and gets up.
He stretches and sees Suki stand to do the same. He grimaces. This was going to be a long day.
The second they stepped out the door, Zuko was grabbed by two alpha guards.
He yelps in surprise and Suki snarls and tries to keep Zuko close. It takes 4 guards to hold the enraged alpha back and another 3 to pull Zuko away.
Zuko is dragged to a small cot. He’s unceremoniously tossed inside.
Zuko hisses in pain when he hits a wall rather roughly, but he brightens significantly when he sees Sokka and Jet come in.
He refrains from hugging them when The Warden walks in.
“You’re being claimed by these alphas,” The Warden said plainly.
Zuko blinked in surprise. He looks questioningly at Sokka and Jet.
They look at him through their helmets in reassurance.
The Warden grabs a hot iron from the fireplace from the side; Zuko immediately tries to move but is held down by two guards. He squirms uncomfortably.
The hot poker comes close to his ribs where his shirt has risen upward.
Sokka and Jet looked like they were about to protest but a look from Zuko shut them up.
Zuko closes his eyes and bites the inside of his cheek as the hot poker engraves a marking into his skin.
The smell of burning flesh sends everyone in the room into a nauseated state.
Zuko blinks back tears as the burn cools down and The Warden gives Sokka and Jet keycards with a symbol matching the burnt skin on Zuko’s side.
The Warden looks sympathetically towards Zuko.
Zuko makes a face.
Sokka and Jet immediately rush to Zuko’s side.
“What the fuck?” Jet hisses.
“I didn’t know they did that,” Sokka snaps, gently caressing the skin next to the brand.
Zuko flinches from the caress of the sensitive skin. Another burn wouldn’t mean too much, would it? The skin was sensitive from the brand, red and starting to inflame.
“It’s fine. We should go,” Zuko assures his alphas.
When he enters the courtyard, he’s immediately assaulted by the scent of concerned alpha.
Suki looked him over before lifting up his shirt to glare at the brand on his side.
“Bastards,” Suki snarls under her breath.
“It’s fine,” Zuko murmurs, pushing Suki away as people start to stare.
Suki gives him one worried glance before judo flipping Sokka who snuck up behind her.
“Fucking hell, Sokka! You don’t sneak up on a Kyoshi Warrior with years of training and PTSD!” Suki snaps.
Sokka groans. “Ow. But I have a plan to escape.”
“I want in,” a voice says from behind them.
Chit Sang jumped the railing to join them.
“No,” Jet scoffs.
“Then I’ll tell the Warden,” Chit Sang counters.
The three alphas by Zuko seemed to be about to argue but Zuko cut them off with a short and cropped, “Fine. Just shut up about it.”
Sokka sighed but proceeded to tell everyone about the plan.
Everyone nodded and split up to follow the plan.
They put on a show. Chit Sang slams into Zuko on ‘accident’.
“Watch it, bitch,” Chit Sang snaps.
“Who are you callin a bitch, fatass?” Zuko snarls.
Chit Sang swings a fist at Zuko who dodges and retaliates with a whip of fire.
“No firebending!” Sokka dramatically yells.
“Cooler,” Jet said cooly, grinning under his helmet.
The two alphas put Zuko inside the escape cooler.
The Warden approaches. “After your little stunt, I decided to tell Princess Azula to come faster. Watch yourself, omega.”
Jet silently fumas and Sokka tries not to shove The Warden into the cooler.
A few hours later, Jet goes to the cooler.
“Learned your lesson, sweetheart?” Jet cooes, leaning on the doorway.
“Completely, alpha,” Zuko purrs, showing all the nuts and bolts that he unscrewed.
Jet smirks and presses a kiss to his omega’s lips.
They all met up at Suki and Zuko’s cell.
Sokka came running with Chit Sang.
“War prisoners are coming tomorrow. That might be my dad!” Sokka said excitedly.
Chit Sang frowns. “We’re leaving tonight.”
Sokka frowns. “But-” he starts.
Suki interrupted him. “We’re staying. It’s worth the risk.”
Jet shook his head. “Azula will take Zuko if we wait too long.”
Sokka decided.
“I’m staying with Suki and Jet. Chit Sang, take Zuko and go,” Sokka declared.
Zuko immediately scowls. “Why?”
“What do you mean why?” Jet asks.
“Just because I’m an omega, I can’t help? I’m staying,” Zuko said, arms folded across his chest.
Suki lets out a chuckle at the omega’s spite.
“Let’s hope your dad is in that batch,” Jet warns. “For all our sake.”
Sokka nods.

Note
If ATLA in an ABO universe. I imagine that Zuko would present as an omega and hide it because Azula and Ozai were cruel (besides the firebending). And no one knows why Zuko pretends until his uncle and new friends help him. After he becomes Firelord he rejects all the omegas of the firenation nobility (He ends up with an alpha "peasant" from another nation)
So I’m going to start this with my usual ‘I can see the character as any designation’ statement. But that’s true for like 99% of characters.
ANYWAY
Zuko is interesting to play with as an omega because his presenting can happen at two points and which one it is completely changes the position of him and the possible basis for his decisions in relation to it:  1. He presents before his banishment 2. He presents after his banishment
With both of those options there’s ample reason for him to want to hide his designation (especially from his father), but they are also different reasons. Both based on fear of it making him seem weak and an easy target. Just, if it’s before his banishment it’s... he doesn’t want to be a dissapointment to his father by being a ‘weak omega’ compared to after where he doesn’t want to seem like an easy target to those who kind of have it out for him and also proving his father right in him being ‘weak’.
Either way after he is banished has has Iroh helping him in masking his designation. Useful seeing as he gets older and his body more settles into the designation and the external indicators become more present as well.
When he becomes Firelord he realises he could have it revealed without much risk (I mean really what is anyone going to do to the Firelord who is BFFs with the Avatar and other saviours of the world) but he also just... doesn’t want to make a big deal about it. He’s not actively trying ot hide but it’s also not his problem if others don’t realise. Even if it means he has to often rush off attempts to have him marry a well-off Firenation omega.
The fledgling press have a field day when Zuko ends up with an alpha... from another nation... who isn’t from some impressive family name.

Top ten fave characters
I was tagged by @namesonboats, thank you!
Rules: List your favorite character from 10 different fandoms then tag ten people.
Oof this will be tough. Most fandoms I have multiple favorite characters but I’ll give this a shot.
Star Wars: This is an incredibly tough one. If you’ve played Jedi Fallen Order you know how amazing Cal Kestis & Nightsister Merrin and they quickly became one of my favorite ships. But if I had to choose only one character from the universe it would be Din Djarin/The Mandalorian. His character is just so badass and awesome and goes on forever. Watching his character development over the 16 episodes as he becomes a father to Grogu. I could be here for a month with all the reasons Din is amazing so I’ll just leave it short here.
Naruto: This is another tough one but Minato Namikaze has always been my favorite character. Dude was such a gentle badass. In the Ninja World where leaving your friends to die instead of saving them to complete the mission was what you were suppose to do, and The White Fang was dishonored after choosing his comrades over the mission, Minato was so badass during the Third Great Ninja War that all the other nations had flee on sight orders if you saw him. He killed a thousand ninja in the blink of an eye and then was back home in an apron cleaning dishes for Kushina. Absolute badass. Getting to see him with Naruto during the 4th Great Ninja War was so great.
ATLA: Ugh so tough. It really comes down to Sokka and Azula for me which isn’t surprising since Sokkla is my OTP. But I think if I had to choose just one it’d be Sokka. So much of who he is as a goofy, smart, kind hearted, intelligent dumbass, is who I’ve been/tried to be in my life. I relate to both Sokka and Azula which is why I love them both so much and this answer could vary from day to day tbh.
Mass Effect: Liara T’soni. Such a badass awesome character. Every playthrough I tell myself I’m finally going to romance Tali and yet I end up romancing Liara again >.>
Star Trek: Captain Sisko. Sisko was just such a badass powerful character. Picard was the federation poster boy. He was the one Starfleet held up and said “look! Look how well he represents our utopian ideals!!!” which is great and all. But Sisko. Sisko was the man who had to make the hard calls, who had to get his hands dirty and do things that don’t fall into that morally perfect little garden the Federation liked to believe itself to be. He had to make harsh calls, do hard things, to protect utopia. In The Pale Moonlight will forever remain one of the best episodes of Trek and nothing will ever be able to change that.
So… I lied. I cheated. I bribed men to cover up the crimes of other men. I am an accessory to murder. But most damning of all… I think I can live with it… And if I had to do it all over again… I would. Garak was right about one thing – a guilty conscience is a small price to pay for the safety of the Alpha Quadrant. So I will learn to live with it…Because I can live with it…I can live with it.
Sisko was a good man making hard choice in a brutal war the likes of which the Federation had never imagined. He had to make the hard calls to protect not only the Federation but the Alpha Quadrant as a whole. As soon as the Dominion had pacified the Federation and Klingons, they would have turned on the Romulans for sure.
Stargate: This is a tough one. Growing up I always admired Samantha Carter. Smart, clever, charming, badass, every bit a warrior as the men. It was inspiring to see a well written female character who was one of the smartest people on Earth, who was compassionate yet firm in her believes, capable of defending herself and her team mates. The Stargate franchise spawned so many great characters but I think if I had to choose one it’d be John Sheppard. A lot of considered him an O’neill lite, and he definitely had a little bit of O’neill to him, but he was different enough and his own character that I really enjoyed watching over the 5 years of Atlantis. His willingness to put his own health and safety aside to rescue his friends and team mates(See S5E01 “Search & Rescue” where despite the fact he’s got internal bleeding and probably a whole litany of other problems, he goes on the rescue mission for Teyla, disobeying a direct order from Sam while also telling her he had more respect for her than any other CO he’d ever served under). It’s that sort of selflessness coupled with his humor, charm, wit, and his ability to come up with clever ideas that leave Rodney frustrated he didn’t think of that, that makes Col. Sheppard my favorite.
SPOP: Catra. Thank you for coming to my TED talk xD
Battlestar Galactica: Lee “Apollo” Adama. This is another tough one like most of my choices, as RDM’s nuBSG had so many amazingly developed, flawed, characters that made them seem like actual, real human beings. But Apollo was my favorite I think. Smart, skilled, compassionate. Strong moral compass... for the most part(we’ll gloss over his affair with Starbuck while married to Dee). I will never not feel bad for him. I think part of him truly did love Dee, just not as much as he loved Kara, and as soon as it looked like he was rekindling the spark with Dee she killed herself. And then they finally find Earth the Second, and it looks like he’s finally going to get to settle down with Kara like he’s always wanted, poof, she’s an Angel and has completed her purpose. Bill is off burying Laura, and he’ll probably never see his dad again. Dude went through so much character growth, so much pain and hurt and ended up alone.
Dragonball: I grew up watching DBZ so it’s always had a soft spot in my heart. And my favorite character has always been a tie between Future Trunks & Vegeta. But I think I’m going to give it to Future Trunks. He was such a badass. His entry was sooooo badass, the way he dismantled Frezia and his father with his sword. When he got back to the future after the Cell Games he wasted no time killing 17 & 18 and then Cell. He was a take no bullshit, don’t fuck around like Vegeta, Goku, and SSJ2 Kid Gohan(All I can think of anymore is Dragonball Z Abridged where Gohan gets so mad at himself for letting his Vegeta show xD) Not to mention kid me for whatever reason was super enamored with his seatbelt buckle style belts he used. Idk why but like 10 year old me thought that was the coolest shit ever.
Teen Titans(the good one not GO): Raven. I always loved Raven and she’s been my favorite TT since I watched the OG show. Her character development throughout the show was amazing. Going from thinking she was too dangerous/weird to love to having friends and a family. Will always be my favorite and it’s not even a contest.
I’m not going to tag anyone in this because but if you see this and want to play, feel free to tag me as having tagged you! Thanks so much again for tagging me!

Headcanons for @twird96, who wanted Azula A/B/O with fam/friend interactions. This is really more general Azula meta with some A/B/O flavoring, but I do love me some Azula so I got more carried away with getting into her head than anything else, haha.
Azula is an alpha, because I will die on the hill of female alphas and also she is ABSOLUTELY the pack leader out of the Fire kids. Zuko is an omega, Mai's another alpha, and Ty Lee is a beta. These genders all suit them all both perfectly and terribly, and this is definitely reflected in how they all interact with each other. And Azula takes it SUPER well when the other three all leave her pack, of course. Of couuuuurse. She goes from being a pack leader to being a lone wolf basically overnight and it does NOT go well for her hindbrain. Zuko, okay, she can deal with Zuko ducking out on her--that gives her more status in the royal family and the Fire Nation, after all--but Zuko accidentally taking Mai WITH him, and then Ty Lee turning on her immediately after . . .
Ty Lee wasn't even specifically betraying Azula; she just knew Azula and Mai were about to DESTROY each other and Azula was the closer one. Azula will never, ever realize or believe this fact. To her, her most trusted pack member betrayed her out of nowhere, and she absolutely cannot and WILL not understand the why or the how. Not understanding what Ty Lee was thinking actually fucks her up worse than just Mai going full treason, in certain ways.
Ursa was an omega; Ozai is an alpha. They both embodied those genders as perfectly as they could, for different reasons, and of course Azula and Zuko looked to both of them for what to expect from other alphas and omegas, and also how to behave themselves. This did not work out suuuuuper great for anyone involved, because "betray people and run away with zero notice" and "run all your relationships based on fear" are both included in those behaviors. Technically it worked out worst for Ozai and Azula, but Zuko really did avoid said "worst" by the skin of his teeth.
Iroh is also an alpha. Azula thought he was a horrible example of one because Ozai did, of course, and was basically challenging him for dominance in every interaction since she was practically an infant, which Iroh thought was cute when she was five and concerning when she was eleven and was, unfortunately, way too late to do anything about by the time she was fourteen.
Azula was a pretty good pack leader, for being a horrible one, which is another reason that losing that status fucked with her head so much. She was well-suited for the job and naturally inclined to it, and losing it took out a huge chunk of her identity. There was nobody to replace any of those pack members with except Ozai, who obviously was HER alpha and a lot worse at it than she was, actually. Azula knew how to manipulate people; Ozai literally did not care about bothering to and addressed every problem/relationship like it was a nail. And Azula, for the record, was absolutely never a nail.
