Port Charles was a lot like Dark Shadows, which I also loved. If any modern soap opera deserves to be brought back, it's Port Charles. 

The weird thing is that Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and Starr Manning (Kristen Alderson) dressed as a vampire couple for Halloween 2012. Starr was a character transplanted from One Life to Live when that show ended. A year later, when ABC removed the former One Life to Live characters from General Hospital, their actors remained as different characters. Alderson now played Kiki Jerome, who was also a love interest of Michael's like Starr had been. Kiki was eventually revealed to be the daughter of Dr. Silas Clay, who was the brother of Stephen Clay/Caleb Morley (king of the vampires on Port Charles); both Silas and Caleb were played by Michael Easton. 

So Kiki was Caleb's niece. And two of Michael Corinthos's later love interests, Nelle Benson and Willow Tait, were also Silas's daughters and thus Caleb's nieces. Michael and Willow are currently married on the show. Michael's kids Wiley Corinthos and Amelia Corinthos, by Nelle and Willow respectively, are Caleb's great-nephew and great-niece.

Honestly, if at the end of this storyline with Willow and Drew, Willow and the audience aren't meant to see Drew as the villain, I'll laugh. I mean, the two major guesses from people about him are A) that he's secretly Shiloh. Or B) He's been using Willow to get back at people who didn't choose him first or who he thought wronged him. It's very understandable why these are people's speculations on twitter. Drew has been creepy and manipulative. It was even pointed out in yesterday's episode when he was making the situation with Michael and Amelia and Wiley his business. It kind of does feel as if he's trying to isolate Willow, which is another thing people are speculating.

Yeah... After watching this episode, Im really gonna need Wiley and Scout to make Willow and Drew's lives a living hell. (And for Nina to secretly be helping in the background.)

Drew was so fucked up with his chat to Alexis. She wasn't judging, she was trying to be logical and was actually focused on Scout's best interests, and he was so rude.

Like she even flat out asked him "is Willow good for you or Scout?" and "Willow is going through some shit right now, but scout is too, are you paying attention?"

And he isn't! He does not give a shit about Scout. He even blamed the Q's for separating scout and Danny.

No bitch, YOU fucked your nephew's wife and YOU got yourself kicked out, so you took your daughter with you.

And yes, he made a nice point about how all the Q's have checkered pasts and bad behaviors. Double standards are real. That doesn't change the fact he's fucking up Scout (and Wiley and Amelia).

Carly and Tracy are right: Drew is using Willow and Michael to hurt them and he's playing with the kids like pawns in a game. It's not cool.

Big February Sweep…

Since we are in February, I don’t think we will get those unique Soap Opera February Sweep, such as Metro Court and Monkey Illness in GH. Since most of the major storylines had finished in January except for the Metro Court Shooter, Dex is working for Michael, Gregory’s illness, Tracy is still the owner of Deception, and Cory is Mac’s child. I don’t count whatever Drew and Carly’s plan against Nina because that needs a whole post on its own; I would have two major events going on at the same time to tie up those storylines and to have new storylines out. 

Half of the cast is at Sonny’s Place on the Island, and the other half is at the hospital. And the way I would break it down is:

Hospital: Violet goes back to Hayden as Jason knows where she is. Nina decides to visit NYC to check in on her family’s company. Cody goes to find Mac to tell him the truth. 

The ending of the storylines: 

Island: the Metro Court Shooter: Blaze is the older sister of Lila Rae, meaning she is Lozreno’s daughter, and it is their mob family who is behind it. Dex is working for Michael: Everything they did and who knew comes out, and he is actually working for the FBI. All of his backstory was a lie as he is Stone Cate Jr. 

Hospital: Gregory’s illness: He dies protecting Elizabeth’s boys, who have Violet with them. Tracy is still the owner of Deception: She overhears Maxie telling Ned who is injured and what his daughter is trying to do, and Tracy realizes that she watched Maxie grow up and this was her dream. Cody is Mac’s child: Robert, Felicia, and Cody are stuck together, and he tells them. 

Start of Storyline 

Island: Carly and Sonny lose their minds again with Jason returning; they are sent to a Mental Hospital, where we get a break from the characters. Sam asks Alexis to help her run Drew’s company for Scout, and she deals with Danny’s anger with Jason and everything that happens to them. Brooklyn and Chase's wedding is put on hold. TJ started having PTSD from losing his girl and baby. 

Hospital: Jason saves Elizabeth and Monica from Cyrus and tells them he has both memories. Elizabeth’s sons (all three of them) have daddy issues, and Elizabeth realizes she has both issues with her parents. While rebuilding the hospital, Elizabeth discovers that her family owns it. Terry realizes how understaffed the hospital is and starts looking for people. Maxie is asked to take over Crimson as well.

Everytime someone mentions willow is a nurse I go "????" But then I remembered how all this stuff happens off screen because their not interested in making the hospital part of general hospital feel present and how willow for yrs now only has a role as Michael's wife and Wiley and Amelia's mom.🥴

Sidenote: also I should get a pat on the back for actually trying to watch a full episode for once. We'll see how this goes.🙈

it is wild seeing how little some characters have been on the show so far this year. i don't know if this is because of cast size or whatever, but they used to be able to balance it out better. vinny has only had 19 apperances this year which is very little especially in comparison to his past couple of years. it's like they don't know that to do with him after liv's death. and then you have characters like victoria who have only been on 15 episodes, while jacob and david have been on 23 eps so far and half of the year is almost up. it gets to the point where i wonder why some characters even exist if the writers aren't going to give them any screentime or ever focus on them. it's also frustrating because many of these characters with very limited screentime have potential but they're often just background characters.

So I looked up everyone's episode counts and I kind of surprised me that the highest was still only in about half of the episodes this year so far. I think we're at around 100 episodes because they seemingly stopped counting Thursdays as 2 episodes now that it's a full hour. So Charity, with 54, has been in just over half with Caleb right behind her with 50. And then you've got someone like Moira who feels like she was in a lot more, in only 28, whereas someone like Dawn who has 25 or Manpreet with 26 feel like they've barely been in the show this year. I guess it depends on who has had an actual story or who's just been floating around, supporting other stories. Like Arthur and Marshall are only in 28/26 episodes but they've had an actual story so I feel like they've been in it more (or at least more meaningfully) than say Sam with 27 episodes.

But yeah those "under 20" people, Vic and Vinny and Billy and Dan and Ethan (what happened to Ethan?) definitely fall into the category of the producers having no clue what to do with them. And the low 20s people too: Manpreet, Dawn, Jacob, David, Nate, Lydia, Eric etc. At least Jimmy and Belle have story now with Tom although I still cannot understand what they're doing with Tom's story because, while I'm glad it doesn't seem like he has some secret dark agenda, it also kind of feels like they just brought him back to react to past storylines that happened in his absence or before his time. It's very strange. But maybe it will get them all screen time. Who knows.

I don't know if it is the cast size that's preventing people from getting more screen time, or just them not knowing what to do with them. I'm sure it's a bit of both. That and just not showing work places or every day life or just generally not showing people unless they're very specifically involved in a story. It does seem like a problem they need to solve for. I can definitely think of several characters you could cull: Wendy, Nate, Will, David, Jacob, Dan, Amelia, Suzy, Chloe (although they complicated that with Rueben being Mack's kid). Naomi's already leaving but Ethan barely exists and I know they're bringing in Charles' mom now but as much as I thought they all had potential when they first arrived, they really haven't done much with them and I wouldn't mind just starting over there either. But as much as maybe they need to get rid of characters to bring more balance, I'd also kind of want to get rid of that lot and then bring in some new, better characters. Get someone new to take over the shop. Meet that family that supposedly took over Wiley's farm. I just feel like the show needs an injection of some actual life in it and you know...Wendy and Liam's affair isn't really doing that, nor whatever they're maybe doing with Bear and Mandy (*shudders*).

I'm glad that Joss gets to call out Carly for covering for Sonny AGAIN, but I also hope that Carly accidentally lets it slip about Michael, and she goes to call him out as well.
