i've done some horrible things to copia in the notes app but i draw the line at giving him a hip replacement. so my personal hc for his cane situation — disregarding the alternative of him taking one onstage just for the vibes — is that he developed early onset osteoarthritis from ballet and began to manage it. the rats mv was the last time he danced properly, then after the threat of replacement, it was strict physiotherapy and steroid injections until the cane wasn't as necessary as it once was. you can get footwear designed to help with oa, so i'm sliding the shoe moment from rhrn into this self-indulgent ramble ('i'll get injured' = 'things will be worse for me later'). he'll jump around the stage as often as he dares to the frustration of doctors and his mother — and his ghouls, who will help him limp offstage at every show towards the end of the tour and take care of him after treatments. limited movement frustrates him to no end but he'll put on a mask of cheery positivity until he's too tired to maintain it any longer. he'll manage it to the point where it's easier to live with than it was when he danced for the last time, but it'll never be like it was when he was young. he struggles with this more than he does the physical pain. who'd want a reminder of their imminent demise burning at their side with every step? still, he pretends, even if it's obvious to everyone close to him that it's a problem — no need to give them any more reason to end his reign earlier than he'd like
#a ramble inspired by that really nice art i rbed earlier with his cane#and the art where hes like. was a ballet dancer. had a hip replacement. bon appetit#i can't bring myself to give him the replacement though#not even a resurfacing#i had a professor this semester who has made it his life mission to warn everyone about how awful replacements are#he got oa in his knee after a karate injury and didn't stop practicing it#then fixed it with the help of not a doctor not a physiotherapist#but his karate master 😭😭#using my lectures to pass my degree ❌️ using my lectures to give papa diseases ✅️#sorry copia.#this feels weird to post which is why i'm nervously rambling in the tags#i don't post hc stuff despite coming up with loads of it because i'm scared of people taking it too seriously#maybe giving that old man a bad hip is a good place to start#unspoken hc here is that he was a very capable ballet dancer back in the day#but idk anything about that i just know diseases#copia gets away from my medical headcanon-ing SO lightly compared to others#rip terzo i'm sorry you had it coming#the band ghost#papa emeritus iv#posting this after taking certain tablets so i hope its literate and i wont cringe out of my skin tomorrow morning . goodnight

queen cobra
pairing: axel kovaćevic x reader
summary: the captain of cobra kai catches the eye of the captain of the iron dragons and manages to deal with her teammates and her crush on axel!
warnings: mentions of abuse, some swearing, kissing, fluff, little bit of angst and a little implication of smut at the end, kwon is alive, axel is a sweetheart, kreese is rotting in jail !

cobra kai was never your preferred environment, but you fought to survive there, even when the others tried to influence you. you were a good person and you stood by that. you just had to mask it when in the dojo. it’s not like you would be there long, the dojo was just a way to the sekai takai for you.
and you fought like fucking hell for your spot as captain.
you even dealt with the endless bullshit literally everyone except kwon and tory threw your way. before karate, you had trained boxing and taekwondo, mastering both of them. so, it was easy to say you had the highest kick of everyone your team.
which really did come in handy in moments like this! like when kwon started a stupid bet with miyagi-do over whose kicks were highest. the highest anyone had gone was some kid from the russian team named vlad.
169cm.
kwon hid you for the time being, as the miyagi-do male captain and him faced off in front of the crowd of sekai takai contestants. when they shook hands, you watched as he put chalk to his shoe and swung his leg as high as he could.
175cm.
the crowd cheered, surprised by the height he had managed. you and kwon only laughed. he stepped to the side to let you foward. “show them, captain.”
you grabbed the chalk from the ground and locked eyes with robby as you rubbed it on your shoe. you kicked as high as you could, marking an almost inhumanely high point on the wooden whale statue.
you had to admit you couldn’t eyeball the measurements on that one, but you had won by far.
there was a mixture of gasps and applause as your cobras immediately crowded around you, celebrating your easy victory. you stepped foward to the miyagi-do’s, and stuck out your hand to accept your prize.
a whole room to yourself!
you and the cobras were walking back to the hotel. you all had met up with sensei kim at a karate gym on the other side of the city, and were only now getting back. you walked ahead of the others, not really wanting to speak to them right now.
as you entered the hotel reception, you noticed a few familiar people your age, they were most likely from the same dojo. you were walking quite slow so you had time to observe.
on the couches were, a dark skinned girl, who was chewing loudly and texting on her phone and an asian boy, who seemed to be staring into nothing at all.
as you turned your attention back straight, you saw an incredibly cute boy, he looked european to you in some way, maybe scandinavian.. or slavic? you didn’t care! he towered over you, and you took a second to appreciate his features, his messy brown hair and dark green eyes, his sculpted face and built arms.
you shot him a flirty smile as you kept walking, which almost made him drop the plates he was carrying.
“axel! what the fuck? can’t you hold a plate?” the girl from the couch called out. ‘oh so she was a bitch!’ you thought, but dismissed it as you continued walking, the cobras following closely behind, chuckling at the scene.
how could he! he was such a fucking prick. yoon was already getting on your nerves but you lost your shit when he was bitching at you just because you were chosen captain over him.
you unknowingly stomped past your locker room, and accidentally pushed into the wrong one. but you heard something and quieted down. you heard loud, echoing grunts, hits and yells of “ais!”
you snuck to the doorframe, sneakily peering inside and seeing the cute boy from the lobby the day before. he was training with his sensei, delivering strike after strike to the punching mitts ahead of him.
he was insanely focused, and incredibly strong. even through the gi, you could tell he was built. the force behind his punches were insane, but his sensei withdrew from him immediately.
“what are you doing wrong?” his sensei yelled firmly and all of a sudden the incredibly powerful demeanour axel had just flaked away. he flinched as the older man threw the mitts to the floor.
you watched as his sensei struck the poor boy, you had almost grown attached to. not once, not twice. you could tell he had to hold himself back after the third time. he picked up the mitts and commanded axel to continue.
but before he even landed a second punch, the mitts were on the floor again and axel was being hit. you heart hurt to watch it. you let out a soft gasp.
axel turned his head at the sound and saw you, you shot him a sad smile and walked through the hallway, hearing his sensei yell at him as you kept walking forward.
the cobras wanted to go somewhere and get drunk, and as their captain, you had to go. plus you had secretly hoped you might bump into the guy you had been crushing on for the last two days.
kwon was slumped against the counter, trying to maintain a conversation with you, but miserably failing. yoon and the others were standing around tory, trying to make their lazy advances that seemed to go completely unnoticed.
“씨발, 나 산책하러 가야 돼.. 안전하게 지내라, 얘들아 (fuck this, i’m going on a walk, get home safe boys.)” tory practically growled at you, still insulted by the fact she couldn’t speak your language but the remainder of the team telling you goodnight or to stay safe.
you left your half empty bottle of beer on the counter as you walked out, heading straight for the beach. it was calm, and quiet, and for a second you thought you heard the same sounds as earlier.
“ais! ais!” you heard and you recognised the voice, turning to watch as axel stood a couple metres away from you, shirtless, practising his kata. you watched for a couple moments before you spoke up.
“that’s a really cool kata, what’s it called?” he immediately turned around. he smiled at the sight of you and answered softly, “it’s called enpi.”
you nodded and were about to answer before he spoke again, “i don’t mean to be rude, but it’s a pretty common kata, and you’re an incredible fighter, i’m shocked you don’t know it.”
you looked at the floor for a second, before meeting his eyes, as they watched you. “it’s okay! i’m originally a kick-boxer and i studied taekwondo, so that’s my more proficient area.. i can apply a lot of it to karate though so it’s perfect!”
he nodded and gave you a small smile as he continued the conversation with you. “you’re incredibly strong in karate, i wouldn’t have noticed!” he spoke to you.
you stepped closer to him and brushed his arm. “thank you, you’re very strong, i mean clearly.” you said, trying to make it clear you were flirting with him. “i-thank you.” his smile turned bashful and he felt his cheeks heat up.
“you’re amazing.” he said, and immediately paused to reformulate his statement. “i-mean your dojo’s amazing!” you beamed at him. he was honestly so cute you wanted to squeal sometimes.
you smiled, about to speak but he beat you to it once more. “can i join?” he asked you, and you immediately felt yourself get kind of excited at the idea.
“the cobras? i mean, the boys are stupid but kwon’s okay, he just tries to overcompensate when he’s around others but he’s such a sweetheart i promise-“ you began to ramble.
“i meant your walk..” he replied, almost annoyed with himself that he interrupted you once more. you smiled at him once more and accepted. “of course!” you watched as he turned around to grab his jacket.
your eyes fixed on his back, and the scars covering it. you touched them experimentally and felt his body tense under your hand. “i-i’m sorry.. are you okay?” you asked him, empathy laced in your voice.
he quickly grabbed his jacket and put it on, hiding his back from you. “i’m okay.” he quickly dismissed you. you slid your hand into his and nodded somberly. the pair of you started to walk towards the footpath.
you responded to him. “you don’t have to talk to me about it, but i know what it’s like to have an abusive sensei and it’s always okay to not be okay.” you turned your head to face him as he did the same for you.
“thank you. it means a lot.” he smiled softly as you both stood still and he stared at your face. you asked him to lean down a little bit, claiming you had a “secret” to whisper to him.
once he was close enough to your height, you reached onto your tippy toes and gave him a soft peck on the cheek. you let out a soft giggle as you did and he could’ve sworn he felt his heart beat out of his chest.
you had stumbled upon the cobras, well not all of them, but yoon and a few others. they were clearly drunk and yoon smirked as he saw you. “y/nnn, who’s the guy?” yoon asked, cockily as he dragged out the last letter.
axel’s hand tightened protectively against yours.
“who would’ve thought our captain’s with the enemy..” another boy pressed behind him, and you couldn’t quite make out who it was but it enraged you. you replied to them sharply, with authority.
“you know, i’m sure sensei kim would love to hear that her star fighter was being preyed on by a bunch of drunk losers on her team.” that’s when the remainder of the cobras scattered, but yoon stood in place. you were loosing your patience, and so was axel.
“and i’m sure sensei kim would love to hear that her star fighter is fucking around with some pussy off the hong kong team.” yoon cockily challenged you, but axel stepped forward instantly.
you put a hand on his chest and pushed him back, reassuring him you’d handle it but he kept his fists clenched in preparation.
you stepped towards yoon and spoke to him loudly. “지난번에 팀원 중에 나한테 엉뚱한 짓을 한 사람이 있었던 걸 기억나? (remember what happened the last time someone on the team fucked with me?)” he swallowed and waited for you to continue.
“그러니 그런 일이 일어나기 전에 빨리 호텔로 돌아가세요. (so get your pussy ass back to the hotel before it happens to you).” and with that, he sprinted in the opposite direction, following after his teammates.
you turned back to axel and smiled, “i’m so sorry, you had to be there for that.” you spoke softly to axel and you felt his rough hands envelope yours. “it’s okay, i’m sorry you have to put up with that.” he answered. gazing into your eyes.
“it’s okay, it’s not your fault. it’s all you expect from egotistical teenage boys.” you smiled a little, trying to lighten the mood a little bit.
“i’m not like that, am i?” he asked you, worried that he was like them. you instantly shook your head. “nonono, axel, not at all.” your gaze flicked between his lips and his eyes and he noticed it.
he held himself back, with the worry that you may have only done it as a mistake, or a way to make sure he was comfortable. he released one of your hands and the pair of you kept light conversation as you walked.
outside your hotel, he stopped. “we’re in the same hotel, axel, we don’t need to split up.” you turned to face him and watched as his brow furrowed slightly, in thought. he brushed a strand of hair away from your face.
you leant into his touch and looked up at him, knowing it was his way of making a move. you reached as high as you could to put a hand on the back of his neck, and the other rested on his chest as you pulled him into you.
his lips met yours. they were soft and you couldn’t help yourself. his hands reached down to your waist before he pulled away.
“we should probably go to our rooms now.” he said, and you giggled softly, once again, still excited from your kiss. you nodded in agreement, as you held hands again and walked to the elevator.
as soon as the doors shut, he couldn’t help himself any more and pressed you softly against the wall as you continued what you had done just a few minute prior, outside the hotel.
except this time, it was deeper, and it was hungry. his hands wandered over your body, tapping under your thighs, telling you to jump, and as you did, his strong arms held you, kneading at the flesh there as he continued to attack your lips.
at some point, when the pair of you were so wrapped up in eachother, the elevator doors opened. he frowned as you pulled away from him and commanded him jokingly to “put you down!”
he did, and just as you were about to leave, he spoke up once more. “let me walk you back.” and you accepted, still giddy from your stolen kisses.
once you reached your door you smiled and leant up to peck him on the cheek. “goodnight, axel!” and just as you turned around he grabbed your wrist and pulled you to him once more.
he kissed you one last time before you went inside. “goodnight beautiful.” he smiled as he started walking away. it took you too seconds before you called after him, dragging him back once more.
“axel, i do have a room to myself… if you wanted to put it to good use?”

Hi!
Could you please write something for whichever f1 driver you want with a reader who's a children's books illustrator and author? Maybe they get to know each other because his niece is obsessed with her books and he took her to one of her events.
I'd like to see how the grid and the media would react to someone so bubbly, kind, and creative!
Thnx!! <3
My sunshine - Lewis Hamilton x ChildrensAuthor! Reader
Plot: Lewis comes home to find his niece and nephew obsessed with one lady’s books! Little did he know you’d end up being his whole future!

“What you reading there?” Lewis asked as he grabbed some fruit from the fridge and started to cut it up. Babysitting was one of his favourite free time activities.
“MAE THE MAGICIAN” they both yell at him, making him pause cutting the fruit. He knew his niece really enjoyed reading but to see his nephew so excited about this book was odd.
“Mmmm what’s it about?” Lewis asks as he starts to make little snack boxes for the two, ready to take them out to the park.
“This girl called Mae, and she helps Gaia and George using her Magic tricks, she’s funny” the girl describes to her favourite Uncle.
“Woah, what kind of magic tricks does she do?” He asks.
“She makes sure their homework is complete and their beds are made for when their mum gets home!” His nephew explains.
“Oh and then this book is good to. Can we show you our library uncle Lewis” his nephew begs looking up at him with those puppy dog eyes that he couldn’t say no too!
He follows them up, being taken to one of the smaller bedrooms that was being used as as playroom/ library. There was an expanse of books, but what caught his eye was how many of the same author there were.
It was the same one as the book they were reading from earlier. It seemed she had lots of kids books varying in ages from very young, basically just pictures books, to a series of books which reminded him of the Rainbow Magic Series that his brothers girlfriend had read when she was younger.
They all had titles of careers with a matching name. Both boys and girls.
Alex the Astrologist
Bianca the Brain Surgeon
Colin the Conductor
Daisy the Dragon Tamer
Ethan the Ecologist
Freya the F1 Driver
Who?
That intrigued him.
“Have you guys read all of these?” He asks with wide eyes.
“Of course! She’s the best! Our favourite” one of them exclaims as they re-order books that had been misplaced.
“Which ones your favourite?” He asks his nephew.
“She wrote one about me! Called Kaiden the Karate Master” he exclaims making chopping actions with his hands.
“And you?” He asks Willow.
“She wrote one about me to called Willow the Writer” she says shoving the book at him happily to which he looks through looking at all the cute little illustrations to which he later researched that they were actually drawn by the author as well.
Upon doing further research and trying to get some of her latest books on pre-order he went down a rabbit hole, finding her instagram which was incredibly cozy and just what he expected from an author.
There was a few posts of her charity work and what she did around her community. The links led him to her official website where she had her various charities, an about her page that he couldn’t help but browse but he also saw a part where it showed up and coming events.
“Willow? Kaiden? How would you feel about going to meet Y/N Y/L/N, maybe get a few books signed?” He asks the next morning, wondering whether that would be something they were into.
“YES!” They’d both screamed.
He sent you a DM on Instagram explaining that he was planning on bringing his niece and nephew to your book signing in London. You replied immediately which shocked him, explaining you’d be more than happy to do a private signing afterwards for him and his family and how you were a huge fan of his.
At the book signing.
You were pretty exhausted after the public signing and needed to have a break and just grab a drink where your throat was on fire for talking as much as you had.
But within the hour you were ready to see Lewis and his niece and nephew. They were so polite to you when you stood up to greet them and what shocked Lewis even more is how easily you communicated to the younger kids.. It was like second nature to you how you used your hands to basically animate everything you say to make you seem so youthful and energetic.
“Hi I’m Lewis and this is Willow and Kaiden” he introduced and from after that he was insanely smitten with you, everything you did he would watch with wide eyes.
You spent the time interacting with the kids and signing the copious amounts of books that they had bought for you to sign. You also talked to them about upcoming stuff that they would enjoy where they had really liked your career series for young children.
“Hey I know you might think this is a little soon but I’d really like to take you out some time, for dinner” he asked one his sibling had taken the kids outside to the car say that he could ask you some more personal questions. They ranged from what you enjoyed to how you got into writing children’s books specifically.”
“Well, I think I would really like that, I don’t think I’ve ever been out on a proper date” she smiles looking down and blushing lightly at the comment.
”Never been on a proper date, I’ll have to treat you right then?” he smirks looking over you.
“Where would we go?” You ask politely starting to collect the books left over from the signing.
“Out to a restaurant or a movie, maybe a picnic at some point when it’s warmer the weather isn’t great right now” he says stepping closer to her.
After the book signing you and Lewis went on dates, lots of them and to say his niece and nephew were excited was an understatement you would randomly turn up to family events and they’d start to get your books early and not published Waterstones versions that normally were gifted to them.
“Baby I really want you to come to a race with me, I want to show you off to everyone there and how cute you are. I bet the grid will love you just as much as I do. Actually scrap that, that’s impossible” he smiles and you can’t help but giggle.
“Of course I’ll come with you Lew” you smile leaning across him and kissing his check, before gripping his hands and holding them.
“You ready to meet everyone?” He asks with that soft chocolaty voice that could make you melt.
“I think so, I’m just kind of nervous what they’ll think” you say a light blush forming into your face wondering if you’d embarrass yourself on camera, or if they’d ask you questions … it was hard.
“Well, for the record I know they’ll love you. You want a run down?” And you of course nod wanting to know as much as possible.
“Well, there’s my teammate Charles who you’ll probably meet first in the garage. You’ll love his girlfriend Alex she’s a diamond and you’ll talk about fashion no doubt!” He grins and you not trying to take in the names knowing more are to come.
He talks about his ex team-mates George and Valtteri and how you’d get on with both of them pretty well. He also knew Lando and Daniel would love you, as you all had very similar bubbly people personality’s.
He was excited to show you off to not just them but everyone, you weren’t like the other Hollywood Stars and actresses you were just so … normal? NOT that he would ever describe you as that, because that almost felt like an insult to you.
“Are you nervous baby?” He asks looking over to you as he pulls into the paddock.
“A little, I’ve never been around this many people here before” you say looking over to him, grabbing onto his hand on the gear stick.
“You’ll be fine, and you’ll finally get to watch me in my job. I love watching you write and draw but I want you to see what I do” he nods and you smile, loving this side of Lewis.
He had this intimacy that you’d never experienced with anyone else. Little things he appreciated knowing that you’d never had with anyone else.
You walked through the paddock together scanning your little pass on the thing seeing an awful picture of you come up that Lewis must have submitted.
“Lewis what the hell!” You asked gazing at the picture he’d chosen.
“What! I love that photo of you!” He smiles happily gazing at you looking at the picture that slowly disappears.
“Come on, let’s get you to the garage so you can get familiar with everything” he smiles a hand sneaking round your waist as he guides you through the bustling paddock.
When you enter Ferrari Garage your greeted by all the mechanics, a lot of them with young children knowing exactly who you are and wanting pictures to show their kids when they got home.
Charles and Alexandra greeted you only 30 minutes later and you and Alex got along great, taking Roscoe and Leo for walks around the paddock while she tried to help you adjust to all the hustle and bustle of life in motorsport.
“So how long have you and Lewis been together now?” Alex asked with a small polite smile.
“Oh! It feels like forever! He’s only been so sweet and like to me” you grin, your voice getting louder and louder as you talk about Lewis. Alex notices and can’t help but smile at how you’re talking about Lewis.
After meeting Alex and Charles the next people you ended up meeting was Lando and Oscar. Lewis had asked you to grab his water bottle from the car which he’d left behind and you got lost on your way back the two McLaren drivers immediately noticing and recognising you.
They helped you back to the garage just as they were being called for the race and that they needed to get into the car.
Then next thing you knew as you were watching Lewis come round a corner, a little drift as skidded in the gravel but caught himself well enough that it didn’t lessen his time too much.
Then you were casted on the TV screens and you couldn’t help but feel embarrassed.

You gave a polite little wave and grin to the camera before it panned off of you and back onto the race.
“And that’s Y/N Y/L/N she’s the current partner of Lewis Hamilton and she’s a very well known author of children’s books, ones that actually my own children read and I just know they are going to be kicking their feet that I got to meet her today” the commentator offers with a little chuckle.
“Yeah what did you think of her?” The other commentator for Sky Sports asks.
“Ah she’s just so sweet, she wouldn’t stop talking about her writing and I was more than happy to listen and she was so polite and happy and god’s I want her in the paddock more often, she’s such a little ray of sunshine”
After all the excitement, you had this energy around you that you couldn’t describe and it gave you loads of writing juices. You got home to the hotel that night and you wrote down all your ideas, sat in Lewis lap.
You knew for sure you’d be coming back to way more races and you’d been missing out!

In praise of good martial forms
One thing I alluded to earlier is that Suo has really, really good martial forms. As someone who dabbled with martial arts at various stages of my life, these details jump out. Of course, any martial artist worth their salt must have good forms, unconventional style or not (as Suo described the forms he learned as a "jumble of mixed martial arts"). Wind Breaker is one of the best choreographed manga I have seen, so these details are very much worth analyzing :P
Table of contents:
Martial arts start with good forms
Suo v. Oobiki: Is Discipline Rigidity or Fluidity?
Foundational Grounded-ness: Defense as Offense
Circularity; Yin and Yang
Suo on the Offensive: no_fist.megamind?
I will first go over the basics — how the choreography demonstrates Suo's solid skills, which segue into Suo v. Oobiki's debate about "discipline" (spoiler: Suo wins because he has better forms, i.e. better discipline), then moving on to make more observations about his styles— particularly the circularity and how the narrative is restraining Suo from using his fist to attack.
Martial arts start with good forms
As an introduction, I will note that Suo always sits and stands very properly, with his back straight and his posture supported by his hands behind his back.
Notice also that while Sakura casually leans back against his chair, slumping backward, and Nirei "cowers" -- leaning forward -- Suo sits straight-backed like the epitome of a polite young man :3c
This is another fun contrast between Suo and most other delinquents in the story— in an environment emphasizing rebellion, freedom, and a bit of teenage arrogance mixed in, sparking all sorts of wild and flamboyant self-expressions (dyed hair, undercut, piercings, etc.), Suo alone stands with a very traditional, conservative, and almost a prudent sensibility, in both his clothings and behaviors. Had he not don his Furin jacket, would anyone believe that this gentleman is a delinquent?
That is to say, Suo's trainings are baked into his bones, to the way he holds and moves himself, most likely to even his speech. Good forms from the beginning to end. Suo likely has practiced martial arts for a good while.
The thing that makes me notice how good his form is is from his fist placement in the Kanuma fight:
First, note that Suo's right fist is in the ready position by his hip, ready to hit. It's small, but surprisingly easy to forget when you are starting out. It's somewhat about being ready to punch at anytime (even though we never see Suo actually punching anyone), but more about the discipline of always being ready for your next move.
Similarly, the fist is there during the Oobiki fight. Note that Suo was able to surprise Oobiki and get a hit in because the ready-to-go fist exists as a camouflage, distracting the opponent from his other arm (out of frame— out of Oobiki's visual field). Having the fist there is an excellent basic form, and it allows Suo multiple options of attack.
Let's transition to legwork. One of the most important thing in martial arts is stances. Generally, the deeper your stance is, the lower your center of gravity, hence the more stability you have. This is, of course, at the cost of mobility, which is achievable with narrower, higher stances. An exercise at the advanced (masters') level of karate is to stand in kiba-dachi, the basic horse stance (first thing you'll ever learn) continuously for an hour or more. That's how strong your legs have to be. And practice staying in proper stances is how you hone it. Having a strong, solid stance is essential for balance and power,
Notice the solid, deep (low) stance— and how much power is behind it as Suo very gently seize Kanuma's fist and flips him. We can see the difference in speed (and thus input power) by the blur in both frames.
Again and again, Suo does a lot of "flipping people over" like this (I'm sure there is a proper term for it, in what I assume is Aikido, but that's a martial discipline I haven't flirted with lol). I will labor the point of Suo's moves being primarily circular later, but just to demonstrate the power behind his seemingly-effortless moves:
Note the stance— and the engaged legs muscles

Same here— the deep stance provides a tremendous amount of power required to fling a grown man and knock out two more people. Note again the difference in speed/input momentum (top right panel).
Doing mixed martial arts doesn't means that every move is a hodge-podge of everything. Suo's starting stance is a very basic/common starting form in kungfu:
As a side note, visually this starting form is very representative of Suo as a character/fighter :P He doesn't start (seemingly) looking for a fight; his stance is neutral, relaxed; one hand is inviting the opponent into his space. However, when we look closer, his feet are position such that he is ready to lunge forward (front-facing leg) and a fist is hidden behind his back, also ready to pounce.
It is a basic stance because it is good, and great when done right. If there is one (1) single thing you get from all the ramblings I do, let it be that Suo has very good basics. From his resting stance, fist placement, low stances, to kick— everything is solid.
This brings us to the "debate" between Suo and Oobiki about what "discipline" means.
Discipline: Rigidity or Fluidity?
Suo v. Oobiki is, ultimately, a fight about their philosophy regarding "discipline". (In this manner, we can say that Suo participated in at least one conversation, lol. But more on this later in Crisis of Contact or The Failure of Language (coming soon. at some point.) perhaps.) Firstly, Oobiki brought up discipline with the context of punishment for bad behaviors:
Which suggests that a (rigid) social code was violated here— which is that Suo, the underclassmen, had insulted his superior (in age and school-year). Discipline, here, is a violent mean to "bend" someone back to the appropriate behavior; or, perhaps, discipline means the rigid code of appropriate behaviors itself. Regardless, we get the sense here that "discipline" is rigid, meant to be followed to the letter, and even somewhat hierarchical: the elder enforces discipline onto the younger, not the other way around.
Ironically, this rigidity and hierarchy of discipline is what Oobiki forsook in the first place when he gave up competitive gymnastics:
Rigid routine, rigid rules;
The hierarchy of ranking and rigid scoring system;
And yet, old habits die hard. The brutality of competition and gymnastics is engrained into Oobiki's conception of discipline, and what it means to be, yourself, disciplined, or to discipline somebody else: beating the same stringent routines and rules until submission.
Afterwards, Suo relays a very different view — another definition altogether — of the word:
(Yeehaw! The first visual of Suo's master--- the same narrative role as Akari, yet so much further away...)
Discipline here is not a rigid code of rules or behavior, but rather the transmission of knowledge. This may be due to localization (can somebody please supply me with the Japanese version), but notice that Oobiki uses "discipline" as a noun, while Suo uses it as a verb. One is a thing that you have; the other is an action you impart upon someone else. Already, we see the rigidity of an object without care for whom it affects, versus an action that involves two people at the minimum (the teacher and the student) and widens the possibility of what could be taught. Martial arts is a discipline; so is calligraphy, for example, or tea ceremony, or life philosophy, or math, or science, or literature, etc.
Discipline, to Suo (relayed to him by his Master, by the quote) is a living, mobile thing, means to share knowledge without forcing it upon somebody. You can try to train or teach someone; it doesn't mean they will learn it that exact way, or they may modify your teachings to their needs. Suo is already innovating upon the discipline passed down to him by teaching Nirei to protect himself and fight back at once
It's a living thing in the same sense that humanity is a living thing, as culture and knowledge get passed down and modified generations by generations. It's quite generative, to employ a pun here. It's more philosophical and metaphysical than the concrete, object-like "discipline" that Oobiki wants to impart, or force upon, others.
How do these two views of "discipline" duke it out? By fighting, of course! And, I will argue that Suo wins because he has the better discipline, narratively speaking. Of course, it's nearly impossible for two definitions of the word to duke it out— this is why we have stories and narratives :D The key observation I want to make is that Suo has the more solid and proper forms.
I noted earlier that Suo was able to get a hit into Oobiki with his elbow because of his good ready stance with the fist. The more demonstrative example, I think, is in this sequence here, which immediately follows the aforementioned example:
Oobiki begins with a gymnastic-inspired cartwheel, using one leg to attack and hook Suo's arm down. Note that the force is concentrated on Suo's wrist. With his momentum, Oobiki's arms push upward to complete the cartwheel, and, theoretically, slam Suo's body down by his wrist (a very tiny fraction of Suo's body mass— which is proportional momentum). That's cool and all, but I think Oobiki makes a grave mistake next…

... of attacking with his other leg instead of landing. He expects Suo's whole body to go down with his wrist (which, again, very small fraction of body mass— Suo is a lot stronger physically than Oobiki expected). If that is the case, then Oobiki gets the point. However, I think, giving yourself zero point of contact on the ground — your form and stance not being grounded at all — is a risky gamble. You risk standing on nothing and having no foundation beneath to push you on. While you are falling mid-air, your opponent easily get a grasp on you, and, supplying some (seemingly) minimal amount of force, turns gravity against you. Again, no foundation, nothing solid to land on.
This is, also, the last significant movement in their choreography before the winner is decided. This ending is signified by Oobiki saying, "I can't read you at all..." before the narrative naturally descend to the conclusion of their fight with Suo as the winner. Oobiki's "encore" is merely the last desperate swipe in a conversation already closed.
Foundational Grounded-ness; Defense as Offense
Another observation: throughout the Oobiki fight, most of Suo's stances are low, deep stances, which emphasizes stability and grounded-ness. We see these in the previous examples— in the one immediately above, Suo's stance is so "deep" that he is kneeling on the ground: very stable (which also necessitates no small amount of core strength, mind you) in contrast to Oobiki's ungrounded-ness.
Here, Suo starts from a neutral, high stance, then steps out and down to move his opponent down along with his own center of gravity
Next, a very impressive (holy crap I can't properly express how fucking insane of a move that is) swing: from a low (kicking) stance, which provides the normal force necessary to push, and over
To a solid, whole foot (HEEL FIRST! THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT-- note the angle where the heel is closer to the ground) and a forceful slam down.
While Suo adeptly utilizes high, middle, and low stances, I want to point out that in this fight, all of his move begins from a low stance. Narratively, Suo is focusing on stability, grounded-ness (purpose-wise, Furin's job is to hold their ground, too), and defense — which is his specialty. Suo rarely initialize attacks as offense; here, he relies on the same grounded-ness of his defensive practice as offense. You have heard "the best defense is offense" before, now, welcome to "the best offense is defense" :P.
Combing through the manga, I am struck with how solid Suo's stances are, which I'm sure I have more than adequately emphasized by now. He is agile, mobile, and responsive, yes, but he agilely steps into a sturdy defensive stance in every fight, as demonstrated above in the Kiryuu introductory fight as well as in Roppo Ichiza.

I think this does say something about Suo as a character; just as Sakura's agility, adaptability, creativity, and ferocity says about his, or Tsugeura's high-spirited, principled (even if seemingly odd) virtues being supported by his muscular sturdiness— emphasize the simplicity of pure force, or, Sugishita's long-armed, forceful, but single-trajectory attacks says about his single-minded determination. It doesn't have to be anything too deep lest we step too close into Backstory Speculations territory (though I would not blame us for that, seeing that that is the #1 mystery right now, lol). But, to me, there seems to be an interesting contrast between Suo's image as a lighthearted, blithe, socially-adaptable child and his principled and grounded stances, which are primarily employed to protect or defend someone else.
(Suo's return to the group post-Oobiki is blithe and lightfooted. At this moment, his return is more to a social effect, reconnecting with the rest of the class before the fight resume. Note that, in contrast to his earlier heel-first landing, toe-first landing is used for very light landing— a spirit of windless calm, as I love to say these days. His first impact is this lightness — relieving Nirei from his post, signifying a victory, like a balm upon the toiling soldiers.)
There is, still, a hidden sternness and practicality underneath such a light and humorous character. We caught glimpses of it: Suo who, on the first day of class, "fact-and-logic"'ed Sakura and Sugishita into resolving their conflicts:
Suo who represents the foundational philosophy of fighting as a group to Sakura:
Suo is also teaching Nirei the foundation of fighting, etc. etc.
These roles fit perfectly into his motif as a "teacher" in the narrative, conveniently also as the narrative mouthpiece: I discussed in another analysis Suo's role as the one delivering "conclusive remarks" — the final deliverer of message to Sakura's journey. Just like his conception of discipline as "passing down teachings" — passing down something fundamental, grounding, upon which new innovations can be made — Suo provides the elementary, foundational "bricks" to the story, upon which Nirei, Sakura, the audience, and whomever else he will teach next, can build up their unique substances. It all starts with a good basics— that’s the thing that struck me with Suo’s fighting styles: it’s graceful and simple, based on strong and solid foundational skills.
Circularity; Yin and Yang
By now, it's clear that Suo's fighting motif is primarily circular: he twists and flips his opponents both parallel to and perpendicular to the plane of his body

@darkersolstice and I briefly discussed this point earlier, here, where they insightfully compare Suo to the eye of a hurricane. Inspired by this, I remarked that the philosophical basis of Suo's style is something to the effect of "A steadfast heart amidst the ever-turbulent circumstances" (In Vietnamese, "Tâm bất biến giữa dòng đời vạn biến"). As the calm in the eye of the storm — the central, unmoving axis of rotation — Suo controls himself and the vortex of life such that they all pass by him. He sees and acknowledges the turbulence; but he remains unperturbed and untouched by them.
There is a nuance between what I argue here versus what I argued by Suo's evasiveness, in that it is not the fighting style that is the evasive one, but Suo is. The evasiveness — the "letting life flows by" physical philosophy — is just one of the many possible motivator for his evasion. The bulk of Suo's dodging, I think now, is social rather than physical; the physical aspect just further enforces the motif. (Or, I may argue, the physical aspect may hints towards a deeper motivation for the habitual deflection, without it being the main culprit of the evading act.)
Coming back to the circularity itself; the perfect circle has been symbolically important, throughout many culture, as a symbol of perfection and completeness. The Aristotelian view of the universe was that of a series of enclosing sphere, because circles — and spheres — are perfect. In Chinese philosophy, the same ideal is reflected in yin and yang
There is light in darkness, darkness in light, as circular force and motion rotate in the universe. This is the total encapsulation of everything. Suo's circular form, where he controls the sum total of his force and the opponent's momentum to his advantage, symbolize this philosophical totality. By Suo's association with a heavily Chinese motif, this could be the intended basis of his form.
Suo on the Offensive? no_fist.megamind?
Another thing that is apparent is that Suo has yet to (actually) attack with his fist; both time, against Kanuma or KEEL, he was thwarted from doing so:
Both time, Suo going for the punch was considered an excessive use of force— explicitly so in the KEEL's case, where it was considered the wrong and overly-aggressive choice. There, it also marked a break from his serene and mature characterization.
Suo does attack— but it is always with his legs, palms, or elbow (in the Oobiki fight).

Never the fist. Why?
I, to be honest, still have to ponder more what this means in relation to the rest of his defensive, circular (yin-yang), and deflective (utilizing the opponent's momentum) fighting style. An oath of non-violence, perhaps?— an oath to respond to your environment, to defend as the need arise, to seek not violence but repel it? These are compelling statements. Why kicks and push, but not fist? Perhaps there is an "excuse" of repelling and deflecting in kicking away, pushing away that does not exist in punch in, punch at, punch through. With its various prepositions, punching is rarely away, but always offensive, violating, stepping inside in a sense. Suo's discipline seems to be that of pacifism or at least, minimal violence. Violence cannot touch him, and he cannot exude violence with the discipline he was taught— handed down to? constrained in?
There are still so many interesting thoughts to extrapolate on, so many narrative trajectories wide open for Suo (and his backstory) to take— but that shall be the story for another day.

September 7th, 2017
Dear Diary,
I haven't written in such a looooong time. I was really busy with school and exams. I hate exams. They are the worst. But hey? Now I can just write everything,
Okay so first —HYUN-TAK STARTED TAEKWONDO.
I didn’t even know until one day after school, he said, “Can’t hang out. I have practice.”
And I was like, “...Practice? Of what???”
And he just shrugged and walked off like it was nothing. So OBVIOUSLY I followed him 😤
I’m not a stalker or anything!! But like, what kind of best friend doesn’t tell you they suddenly became a karate master or whatever??
Anyway, I peeked through the window. And I swear, Diary, it was like watching an action drama.
He was kicking and shouting and the teacher was nodding and everything.
He looked so cool.
Like, not just cool... like COOL cool.
His uniform made him look taller (he’s still shorter than me, but WHATEVER), and his hair was all messy from practice and his eyes were all serious and he didn’t even know I was watching.
So yeah.
I came home that day and tried to do a round kick in the living room.
I hit the couch and knocked over mom’s flower vase 💀
(But I blamed the cat.)
Then later I told him I “just happened to pass by” his class and he rolled his eyes SO hard I thought they’d fall out.
He said, “You’ve been standing there for twenty minutes. Behind the vending machine.”
RUDE. RUDE. RUDE. 😤
But then he said, “You wanna try it?”
And I said YES. Immediately. Before my brain could say WAIT WHAT.
So now… I’m officially a Taekwondo student!!! 🥋
My uniform is a little big. The belt is confusing.
BUT I LOOK COOL TOO. Probably. Maybe.
Hyun-tak helped me tie my belt and said, “You’re gonna cry.”
I told him, “I’m gonna punch you.”
But I didn’t. Because he smiled. And it made my brain go weird.
I’m not dying or anything. I just felt… funny.
Like maybe I wanted him to smile at me like that again.
Okay now listen. This is the part I didn’t want to write but UGH.
It happened and I still feel like a soggy sponge about it.
So today during break, after our class, I brought honey butter chips to share with Hyun-tak.
I saved them. I was even going to offer him some.
But THEN.
That new girl, Jieun, who joined last week???
She walked over to him. All sweet and weird. And gave him a chocolate bar.
AND HE TOOK IT.
WORSE—
HE SMILED.
Like, really smiled. Like that soft smile he does when he’s not being annoying.
And I just stood there. Holding the chip bag like an idiot.
I was going to walk over and say, “Hey, want some?”
But I didn’t.
I don’t know why.
I just… didn’t.
I turned around and walked to the other side of the gym.
Sat behind the equipment box where no one goes.
Ate the chips alone.
They didn’t taste that good anymore.
Anyway.
I know it’s dumb. I mean, he can eat other people’s snacks. I don’t own him.
But still.
I wanted to be the one who made him smile like that.
Maybe that makes me selfish.
But I also think… maybe I just like him a little.
A lot.
I don’t know.
He’s still dumb.
But he’s my dumb.
And when he stands beside me in the mirror during practice,
I kinda feel like we’re something.
I don’t know what.
But something.
Okay. That’s all for today. I’m going to bed before I cry about snack crumbs.
(Next time, I’m keeping the chips for myself. Hmph.)
—Y/N (Age 9 and a teeny bit heartbroken 🥲)
✎ᝰ.ᐟ⋆⑅˚₊
“Idiot,” he murmured, voice barely above a whisper. But this time, the word didn’t come with a grin. It just… sat there. Quiet. He remembered that day. Not the snack thing—he hadn’t even noticed. But her first day in class? He remembered that.
She’d looked ridiculous. Her uniform sleeves were too long and she kept tripping over the mat. She saluted the teacher like she was in the army. He nearly died laughing.
But she’d been trying so hard. Eyes narrowed, brows furrowed, mimicking every move the teacher showed—three seconds behind but determined like her life depended on it.
And every few minutes, she’d glance over at him. Quickly. Like she was checking something.
And every time she did, he’d turn away. Pretending he didn’t notice.
But he always noticed. He remembered thinking, She’s really trying.
And then, She looks kinda cute when she’s serious like that.
He’d never said it, of course. Never even thought it clearly until now.

Narushima Joji Relationship Headcanons!
writing headcanons for Joji because he needs to be saved from his wife!! wc: 2,048 hi, all! joji is a character i didn't think too much of until this year. the more i delved deep into him both in fist of the seeker and omega, the more i thought: this man deserves better. him being hit by his wife is not taken seriously both in-universe and outside, as even the creators see it as the "ha ha big karate master guy with a wife who hits him" trope. this is my longest work yet, so please enjoy! i don't know if it's been noticed, but i'm putting a focus on characters who don't have a lot of, if any, fics of them written yet. again, please enjoy! :") WARNINGS: - gender-neutral s/o, divorce and male domestic abuse, trauma recovery, angst, fluff, creampie and impregnation mention, vanilla sex
Before meeting Wulong, he frequently tried to invite Kureishi out to drink, but due to his work/profession, he declined most of the time.
Met you probably as a friend of Kureishi or introduced by a mutual friend who referred you to be his drinking buddy in cases when they weren't available.
If you get drunk before him, he stops drinking so that he'll be the one to bring you home safely. Protects you and is with you every step of the way. This also provides him an excuse to give his wife so that he won't incur her wrath TOO much…
When someone hits on you at the bar or pressures you into drinking with them or buying more drinks, he intervenes. Seeing that intimidating mug is enough to drive creeps away. He's a good drinking buddy!
Knows so, so many good restaurant-bars, primarily ones that serve grilled food to go along with beers. Always ready to recommend one and escort you there just so he can also go and have a drink…and spend time with a nice drinking buddy…friend, like you.
In his drunken stupor, has already traumadumped about his wife hitting him and overall being someone to never mess with. Warns you like he warned Wulong in the side story because he cares a lot about you and would rather be hurt than see you get hurt.
Probably has insecurities because of his wife, but he is very good at hiding it, being an overall chill, nonchalant, yet silly guy as a front. He's the only one who knows. Yes, not even Kureishi or Wulong know. Ends up telling you a bit when you're drinking together.
"I feel like I'm walking on eggshells around her.", "I don't tell her much, I get scared thinking of what she might say or do.", "She's really scary, y'know?" "Can't really act too much like myself around her."
Ask him what he thinks of something outside of fighting and he's not really sure. Doesn't have an opinion. Probably an effect of his marriage.
I headcanon him and his wife dated quickly after a very short time of knowing each other and married just as fast too since by the time of Fist of the Seeker's events, he already has a child.
Also like a different guy when he's with his wife, more stoic and really, really quiet in fear of instigating literally anything, even just by breathing. Only looks in one direction and keeps his hands at his side or behind him.
Despite it all, it is canon that Joji is a family man and loves his family a lot, for better or for worse. He beat down assassins who attacked him on the way home and threatened them to not mess with his family. This is also evident in Omega where he beat down Worm members and Ji for hurting his nephew/second cousin Koga. This also means that he will keep the peace and put up with his wife due to his fear of her, messing up what family his child has, and being judged by those around him since him being hit is never taken seriously (even by the creators themselves)
A catalyst for divorce would be his wife hurting you. With Wulong, he knows he's strong and can probably handle it, but you? You're an innocent, kind, supportive, and good friend who's always listened to him and vice versa. He loves your company and the way you make him feel comfortable, safe, validated, and…you take him seriously. He doesn't want to lose someone like that, and if it means having to separate from his wife and (pray that he gets to) take his child with him, then so be it.
It'll be a rough process, but that is the time when he needs you the most. He will most likely try to drink more often, so you need to be what Joji was for you—take him to restaurants with good food.
As mentioned, his hobby is eating good food, so drinking comes naturally to him. Sure, it's not a vice and he likely earns good money from the Rokushin Kaikan dojo, but it does affect his health. Kind of tries to circumvent this by eating tasty, healthy food, but it's not really enough. Maybe you need to introduce him to delicious alcoholic beverages that don't have much alcohol percentage and show him more food good for the liver. Avocado shakes and ice cream for starters :3
Insecurities flare up even more during the processing of his divorce, too. He wonders if he's taking advantage of you since he's not doing well mentally and emotionally. Needs lots of reassurance that you're here with him because you want to be, no ifs, no buts, no other conditions or ulterior motives. Joji is stunned. He has never experienced anything like this from someone else.
Thinks you don't deserve someone like him. Doesn't really think he's loveable as a result of the years of marriage and abuse from his wife.
You're the one who has to ask him to form a romantic relationship with you since, again, he's worried he's being forward or "taking advantage of the situation". He is unwell. Please be patient with this man, he needs so, so much patience and understanding.
You will also be the first to say "I love you" since he's worried he's being too forward or is trapping you with his love. Again, please be patient with him. It will take some time to undo and heal the hurt and pain he's been inflicted with.
Lives with you in the meantime. Is not used to sharing a bed with you since he used to sleep separately from his wife. Yes, separate bedrooms. Sleeps like a rock at first, scared of bumping into you. Says "sorry" a lot when he changes sleeping positions, but grows comfortable the more you're together and ends up liking cuddling up to you or hugging you close to him as you sleep. Something he has never experienced.
By the time you've spent months together, he's different. In private, he becomes a cuddlebug, eager to kiss and touch you to show you how much he loves you…since you've done the same for him. In public, he holds your hand a lot. Kureishi even notes how he's started smiling around them. Koga thinks you're a great match for his uncle and he seems happier and healthier. Katsuya (from FOTS) is relieved he doesn't have to break up any fights and marital disputes anymore.
NSFW
Strictly only lovemaking in the first few months of being sexually active with you. It's hard to get him to be rough or go faster, he wants to take his time.
Extremely vanilla since he's never experienced such things in sex.
Absolutely loves handholding and kissing you while fucking you. Make him cum in seconds by resting your forehead against his, holding his hand, kissing him, hugging him close to you, legs locked around his waist, and finally, whispering "I love you, Joji" in his ear.
VERY very hesitant to inflict pain on you during sex. If you ask him to spank or bite you, he might panic inside and just. shake his head. "No, no, I can't do that. Not to you, my love. Especially you."
Feels guilty when he accidentally bites your shoulder or collarbone or leaves bruises on you during sex. On your thighs for gripping them too tight, or when he loses control and fucks you too hard. Again, you tell him you really like it and it turns you on a lot more. Just keep telling him and he'll grow to be fine with it.
He's fine with you leaving scratches on his back, though. When asked by his students at the dojo, he tells them, stone-faced as usual, that he just fought another bear, all while the tips of his ears are red.
When the divorce is finalized, expect to have sex without a condom for the first time and for him to finish inside of you. Grows an affinity for this and he didn't expect it from himself.
BODY. WORSHIP. Enjoys giving it mostly, but receiving it, oh receiving it will make him feel so loved and improve his self-esteem. Undo the damage his ex-wife did and kiss his scars, praise his calloused hands and tell him how good they feel on your chest and thighs, how his thick, long fingers feel good inside you, how his thick, girthy cock stretches you and fills you so well, and how much you love feeling his warm cum inside you and dripping from your entrance.
A bit clueless if you ask him to eat you out. He has never done that before. Again, teach him the ropes, say what makes you comfortable and turned on, he will follow every instruction you say to a T. He's eager to learn and even more eager to please.
Is SURPRISED if you want to suck his dick. Has also never experienced a blowjob AND a handjob. He is so deprived. You are literally showing him a whole new world.
Way more sensitive because of this. Yes, even his balls. (You like the way they slam against your ass as he fucks you. You tell him this and he is caught off-guard. Never in his wildest dreams did he ever think someone would ever say that to him, much less someone he loved and cherished.)
Good luck, with how big this man is, it really translates (a bit too well) to his cock, too. 8 inches, big and girthy, balls just as big too (he has all that cum ready to be released inside you, duh!). Gotta be honest though, cum taste is horrible at first, very salty, sometimes bitter, due to his preference of drinking beer alongside whatever beer-suitable food he's eating and won't be easy to swallow at all due to its texture. However, he's willing to change his diet up for you. Tell him to eat fruits (he's grown to love avocadoes due to your suggestions!) and no drinking beer when planning to have sex.
If you're able to have kids and are open to the idea of having them with him, he'd be very happy. Being a sensei in a dojo, an uncle, and a father, he's already a good male figure (barring the drinking and his whimsy if you think that's not a good influence LMAO). He'd want to have a daughter. He would also want to start as soon as possible the moment you say you want to have a kid with him. Ride Joji. Joji fucks you from behind. Joji fucks you as he spoons you. Et cetera.
"You feel so good around my cock." "God, I love you so much. I don't know what I did to deserve you." "One more round." "One more round, please." "I can't get enough of you."
Endless. litanies. of. I love yous. Sometimes with "so much". You'd think he was chanting a prayer with how much he repeats your name followed by declarations of love. What else can he say? You're his heaven-sent partner. Saved and changed him so much for the better. You bet he's going to worship you, but…you worship and praise him just as much. It's a novel experience, but he's grown to love it.
Went this far without mentioning the mating press so…it is one of his favorite positions. Keeping you caged in his arms as he sets a merciless pace, all while being able to see your expressions and seeing you hold onto his arms, your legs up in the air, toes curled, his balls slapping against your ass…it's literally perfect.
Besides that, again he is very vanilla, so he likes missionary, spooning, and cowgirl (getting to hold your hips as he meets your thrusts, yup yup)
Joji takes time to love and to open up, but with enough patience and support, he's a great lover. Someday he wants to propose to you since you've showed him what love is supposed to be. He can't wait for you to show him what marriage is also supposed to be. His love is genuine just as you are with him. Please love and treasure this man.

The Nail, the Shoe, the Horse, the Rider by @vimesbootstheory is it cheating to suggest a series? if so, then i'm cheating throughout this because there are some excellent series in this fandom. my god, i loved this fic. the plot, first of all, is so creative and interesting! daniel is a time traveler who travels in time to save johnny from his (what feels like inevitable) death at the hands of kreese! like WHAT A PLOT! the lawrusso is a lovely, aching slow burn and the daniel/amanda is so compelling. one of the best fics i have ever read in any fandom hands down.
I Wanna Be Yours by @darthdisco (another series shh) oh how i absolutely ADORE this series!! cw: bdsm so if that's not your thing then i understand but beyond the (fantastic, masterful, beautiful, incredible) smut, the insight into both johnny and daniel as characters and the dynamic that plays between them is so spot on!!! if you like smut that also makes you FEEL then this is the fic for you.
Tuning by menocchio another creatively written fic in this list that starts as a tkk-verse with Signal Studies and then takes place about a decade or so after with Noise Breaking (and Noise Breaking really is THAT girl for me) and i'm not giving anything away just read them both. the author's grasp on dialogue and their ability to flesh out background characters like susan and barbara so well is nothing short of masterful.
what kinda man doesn't by menocchio the tkk-verse road trip fic that will make you cry!!! or at least made ME cry. god, i think about going back to this one often it's another fic that is one of my favorite fics i've ever read in any fandom. the voices of the characters are spot on and the end of this fic is like a big sweeping crescendo that washes over you in the best way possible.
A Fake Date for Christmas by @darthdisco it's like sarah found my "favorite tropes" bingo card and said challenge accepted!!! fake dating!! hurt/comfort!! miscommunciation!! STRIPPER!JOHNNY!! like what do you have to lose with this one!!!!
The Recidivists by @vimesbootstheory the fic that swept the tkk-ck fic awards last year AND FOR DAMN GOOD REASON. what sucked me in was the tag "and they were cell mates" i just immediately clicked from that point and am so, so glad i did.
Bite-Sized by kdyelo i am, admittedly, obsessed with the unknown time period between december 19, 1984 and s1e1 of cobra kai and any fic that plays with that time period is an automatic read for me. but this one was just so beautifully written and had an engaging plot (and a twist!) that kept me clicking next chapter on the edge of my seat!
there's daggers in men's smiles by pinkgrapefloyd i know fuck all about fencing but i felt like i didn't even need to because the author just got the tone and the relationship and the dynamics down so perfectly. one of those fics that i think about out of nowhere from time to time it really stuck with me.
as dark as a wounded doe by honeyvenom jfc this fic. THIS FIC. honeyvenom is one of my favorite writers and what she's written for this fandom is exquisite truly anything she wrote for lawrusso is golden but this fic is just something else entirely. this fic takes place on the night of kreese's murder at the hands of johnny and the cobras and the lawrusso in it is just BEAUTIFUL. there's also a sequel/interlude lamb heart, put my hands around you that is stunningly done and i would recommend it even if you don't read doe.
...and when the rain washes you clean (you'll know) by Storiesofmylife another karate kid-verse fic and i just love the way this author got daniel's teen voice down! wonderfully written tension in this fic. when i need a little tkk-verse, this is the fic i come back to!
#god this was so hard i have NINETY lawrusso fics in my bookmarks#and i only bookmark fics i would genuinely reread#asks#russolaw#lawrusso#fic recs#one day i'll make an actual lawrusso fic rec post

More Sonic the Hedgehog Headcanons (Enjoy!)
Sonic cannot play chess to save his life. He's way too impatient, and can't make a good play by himself, which makes him terribly discouraged.
Since Sonic can't, Tails is constantly searching for a chess partner. The best ones he's found are Espio, Dr. Eggman, and, surprisingly enough, Vanilla. (he has to get a new chess board after trying to play with Omega thought, since it did NOT end well.)
Amy and Rouge do not get along as well as everyone thinks. Though they have their moments, they're much better off doing their own things.
Rouge is greatly inspired by Honey's fashion designs.
Omega has taken flute lessons, because Team Dark thought it would be a good way to calm him down. I'll leave this one up to your imagination.
Knuckles has anxiety whenever he's separated from the Master Emerald for long enough. Sometimes it gets so bad he hyperventilates. He even passed out once and had a lucid nightmare. Team Sonic as a whole is forever scarred from the experience.
Cream and Charmy both love to draw. They sometimes do so together. They usually fight over the orange crayon.
Charmy has streamed on Twitch.
Vector has some kind of family member in the music industry, who got him into his taste of music when he was little. He also had another who ran a bubblegum factory that was shut down for bankruptcy.
Vanilla once had dreams of owning a Chao garden. Now that Cream has similar passions, she really hopes that one day they can open one together.
Amy has many pictures of Sonic. Some she's taken over the years, some she's gotten from newspapers or magazines... but some she's drawn or painted herself. They're almost photo realistic. It's the only thing she can draw or paint well. (And birds. She can draw some really good birds.)
Cream gave Tails his own little mint plant in a jar. He keeps it right next to Cosmo. (Just a little pain for y'all)
Big can crochet.
Tails used to have a huge fear of spiders. It was one of the bullying methods used on him as a kid, as the other children would put them in his tails, which scared him half to death every time. Sonic helped him conquer that fear later on, but he still has PTSD from it.
Marine has made comics for almost every ship in the franchise, most of them on request from other characters. However, her favorite will forever be Silvaze, and she refused to draw any characters with either of them if they're not together.
Vanilla did kickboxing and karate when she was younger. To this day, nobody outside her generation will believe her, though she doesn't talk much about it anyway.

What are your thoughts on Tenshinhan's change of morality? Most, if not all, of Dragon Ball's antagonists swap sides because there's a greater problem to deal with. But Ten goes from Heel to Face DURING his fight with Goku. Although Crane Hermit interfering with said match probably sped up the process.
An important thing to keep in mind is that, at this point in time, Tenshinhan hadn't really done much.
I'm not going to say he hadn't done anything wrong because. Y'know.
That wasn't exactly a firm handshake.
He also had Chiaotzu rig the drawing of lots.
That's it. That is his complete list of crimes. Unnecessary brutality during a match and rigging the tournament roster.
For comparison, Yamcha.
For the most part, Tenshinhan's wickedness is a vibe. He's a pissy kung fu brat, the same age as Bulma. He swaggers around drunk on his own self-importance and says mean things.
The sinister elements aren't in what he has done or is doing, but what he intends to do in the future. He's going to be an assassin. He's going to follow in Taopaipai's footsteps. He's going to kill Goku to avenge his fallen master.
But these are just the future ambitions of a teenage boy who hasn't had to cross those lines yet. He is not - yet - a killer.
Ten is similar to Zuko from Avatar in that he's not really a bad guy. He's trying to be a bad guy. He's a kid raised under a toxic belief system who hasn't had a chance to be exposed to other ideas, but who might find those ideas more closely aligned to his own beliefs if he had a chance to sit down and listen to them.
Someone who's been instructed that the sky is green, suddenly taking a walk in the park for the first time. Ten thinks his goal is to be a killer, but that's not actually why he's here.
This wasn't supposed to be about assassination and subterfuge. The mission statement from the start was to be a really good martial artist, humiliate the rival school, and win the title. That's it. That's what this was supposed to be about.
That is the only thing he was supposed to be doing here.
The mission didn't change until midway through Krillin and Chiaotzu's fight, when he happened to overhear that Goku was the guy who killed Taopaipai.
This was just a sports movie up until this point, and that's precisely the attitude Ten carries. He's the Cobra Kai kid from that original Karate Kid movie. All of his shitty attitude is the boastful swagger of a show-off trash-talking the competition.
He really just wants somebody to validate what a very good punchy boy he is. And he thinks he needs to become an assassin to do that because that's what he's been taught.
He's a show-off looking for validation.
There is no pragmatic reason for him to do this. Upon finding out that Jackie Chun is the Muten-Roshi, Tenshinhan throws a Kamehameha just to do it. Just so he can be seen doing it, so he can rub it in the Muten-Roshi's face that he can do it.
To prove to his rival what a great martial artist he is.
After they find out that Goku killed Taopaipai, Tsuru-sennin stops caring about the tournament. He just wants blood, ordering Chiaotzu to kill Krillin in the ring. But Tenshinhan? He watches Goku's match with Panput...
...and he's intrigued. Seeing what Goku's capable of gets his blood boiling with the spirit of competition.
He doesn't want to kill Goku. He wants to defeat Goku. Those are different things. They just don't seem different because he hasn't arrived at a point where he would have to make a choice between one or the other. Where he would have to decide whether to be a martial artist or an assassin. At this point in time, those roads are the same.
At this point in time, he still has the option to do both.
To kill Goku and be the assassin he's aiming for, and to defeat Goku fairly and properly as a true martial artist. He can walk both of those roads. For a time.
But the fork is coming, and it arrives at the moment when Tsuru-sennin violates the sanctity of his match.
Now he has to make a choice. Is he a killer who does whatever it takes to slay his opponent? Is he truly this guy?
Is that all his art will ever amount to? Is this who he is as a fighter?
Does he want to kill or does he want to win? And could he live with himself as a martial artist if this was how the greatest match of his life up to this point ended?
These aren't things he's supposed to care about, but they are things he cares about. It's important to note that he doesn't reject Tsuru-sennin. He's still trying to find a middle road, imploring his master to understand his feelings.
He's still trying to find a middle ground. A way he doesn't have to sacrifice his tutelage in order to be the man he wants to be. He has one foot out the door, but there are ways Tsuru-sennin could have played this that would have resulted in Ten and Chiaotzu going home with him to learn more bad ideology.
It's Tsuru-sennin who shoves him the rest of the way by escalating to immediate rejection and violence.
This is the Point of No Return. Can't really go home after this. Ten wasn't trying to make this a complete fracturing of his entire relationship with Tsuru-senryu; Literally all he was asking for was to be allowed to fight his rival fairly. But that's what it became because abusers are like that.
The full meaning of what he's just given up isn't lost on him, either.
After this, he doesn't really have a choice but to forge his own path and find a new way forward for himself and Chiaotzu. He literally cannot go back.
Some bridges can't be unburned. And sometimes that's for the best.

Dog Days
Shinobu Kochou x She/Her Reader
A/N: Request for @ross-ayase Thank you for your patience! It’s longer than I wanted it to be, but I also feel like it goes too fast over some parts. I hope you still enjoy it. There also may be more errors than usual because I’m too tired to edit right now, but I promise I’ll give it a closer look at a later date. Word Count: 6,523
Shinobu took one look at who had arrived before her to the Master’s mansion and suppressed the urge to groan as she gracefully knelt upon the vacant cushion beside her.
“Kochou!” The Hashira beside her grinned, “I was hoping you would be literally anyone else!”
“Likewise.” Shinobu replied, facing forward, same smile as always adorning her face.
The rivalry between Shinobu and (Y/n) had started all the way back when they were first training to become demon slayers. Something that still hasn’t changed at all even after all of these years later, finding themselves both at the highest rank a slayer could be bestowed with. At least the days when they used to brawl at the drop of a hat were over. Shinobu claimed she was much too mature to stoop to that level, (Y/n)’s level, anymore. Although she was usually the one to start any physical altercations in the past… but make no mistake, though their quarrels were less explosive, the way they spoke to each other could be like a fist fight all on its own.
Although they seemed to speak to each other in pleasant tones, if someone took the time to actually listen to what they were saying, they would turn tail and run as fast as they could to not get caught in the crossfire.
There was no time for them to really dig into each other this morning, as Kagaya arrived on Amane’s arm not long after Shinobu’s arrival and as much as the pair loved to bicker and attempt to one-up each other, they would never dare do so in front of the Master.
“(Y/n), Shinobu, thank you both for joining me this morning.” The Master spoke warmly, once his wife eased him down.
“Good morning, Oyakata-sama. We’re happy to be of service.” (Y/n) and Shinobu spoke in near perfect unison, both subtly glaring at the other as they bowed reverently.
The Master chuckled quietly. “You two are almost always in sync after being friends for so long. That is why I know you two will be perfect for this mission.”
Shinobu’s smile tightened and (Y/n)’s eye twitched slightly.
“This mission will be a very… odd one to say the least, but as long as you watch out for each other, I don’t think it will be a particularly difficult assignment, but I believe the fine tuned skills of a couple Hashira will sort out the trouble our lower ranks have been having in this area. I am asking you, (Y/n), Shinobu, to investigate the sudden disappearances of our slayers and destroy whatever demon or demons are responsible.”
***
“Are we there yet?” (Y/n) asked with a smirk, walking beside Shinobu down the rugged road.
“You know that we are not.” Shinobu sighed, doing her best to let the words drip off of her like water off a duck’s back. “Now if you could refrain from asking for the twelfth time in half an hour, it would be much appreciated. As far as I’m concerned the mission had already begun, so can you take this seriously please?”
An amused scoff left (Y/n)’s lips. “My name is Shinobu~ I’m a proper young lady now~ blah blah blah.” She poked Shinobu’s back with each consecutive ‘blah’.
“And my name is (Y/n), an insufferable girl who has failed at showing decorum since the day she was born~” Shinobu mimicked back, smacking (Y/n)’s hand away from her with a karate-chop-esque strike.
“I’m just poking fun at you, lighten up.” (Y/n) rubbed her hand. “You poke at Tomioka all the time.”
“That’s different.”
“Is it? What, you have a crush on him or something?”
Shinobu side-eyed (Y/n) before facing the road in front of them again, still walking ever closer to their destination. (Y/n) frowned at Shinobu’s silence and looked away, fists clenched. They were quiet the rest of the journey until they made it to the village.
“They have a lot of stray dogs around here…” (Y/n) commented as they entered the village.
“I was trying to ignore that fact, but yes, it is an unusual amount for a village this size.” Shinobu said, pulling her hand away from a dog who ventured close enough to sniff at her.
“Still don’t like cute, furry animals?” (Y/n) snickered, offering her own hand for the friendly stray to sniff before lightly scratching behind his ears.
“Don’t touch strange dogs, (Y/n), honestly…” Shinobu scoffed lightly, “you don’t know where its been. It could have fleas, mange, rabies… I said, stop that.” Shinobu pulled (Y/n) away from the dog by the back of the collar of her uniform and continued to walk through the village. “We have a mission to complete and I’m not wasting what little supplies I brought to patch up a dog bite.”
“Come on, he’s friendly! You’re as much of a killjoy as ever, you know that?”
“Excuse me, have you noticed anything odd about your village in the past few weeks?” Shinobu was already moving along with the mission, asking villagers about the goings on.
The influx of stray dogs was indeed a phenomenon that had only occurred within the last two weeks. Along with this, a dozen villagers had gone missing alongside the slayers who had been sent to the village before them, usually gone without a trace. There had been a few instances where they had found clothes identifiable as belonging to missing persons, but that was the only lead they had.
“So there’s definitely a demon around here who’s turning people into dogs, right?” (Y/n) said once they stopped at a little roadside vendor for an early dinner.
“We don’t know that.” Shinobu replied, after sipping her tea. “Don’t jump to conclusions.”
“Hey, didn’t you get saddled with helping a bunch of spider people get back to normal? It’s totally feasible! You just don’t want to agree with me because you’re stubborn.”
“It’s too early in the investigation to be certain. Even if there is a demon blood art that can turn people into dogs, we shouldn’t approach thinking we know the whole situation. We don’t even know how many demons were dealing with yet, if we find one, whose to say it’ll have the power you are expecting it to have?”
(Y/n) stuck her tongue out and Shinobu and then groaned, she leaned back, bracing herself with her hands curling around the back edge of the bench she and Shinobu shared. “Okay, smarty pants.”
Shinobu subtly rolled her eyes and took another sip of her tea and it was quite for a few minutes as they watched the sun slowly sink beneath the horizon, painting the sky in vibrant orange and pink. Shinobu felt eyes on her and caught (Y/n)’s eye before she could completely turn her attention elsewhere.
“Yes?” Shinobu rose an eyebrow, finding the odd expression on (Y/n)’s face curious. She had never quite seen anything like that look before. Granted, she hadn’t seen (Y/n) in a couple months, which could feel like a lifetime in the quick-paced lives of demon slayers, Hashira being the busiest of all. Shinobu would not admit it, but there were often times she wondered how (Y/n) was doing, wondered if she should send a letter, but she never knew what to write, so she didn’t.
(Y/n) almost looked like she was gearing up to say something, but then seemed to change her mind at the last second, shaking her head.
“It’s nothing.” She finally shrugged.
“It doesn’t seem that way.” Shinobu scrutinized (Y/n)’s posture and expression in an attempt to decide what may have been going through her mind. “Usually you have no problem speaking your mind. A rather annoying habit of yours, actually.”
“Hypocrite.” (Y/n)’s lips turned upward in a small, almost nervous smile as she watched the sun sink below the distant mountains. “But maybe I’ll tell you after the mission.”
Shinobu kept her eyes to the side of (Y/n)’s head a few beats longer before facing forward again.
“I’ll hold you to it.”
***
They disposed of quite a few demons that night and the added challenge of it being a new moon left the forest extremely dark. Fortunately, that did little to hamper the progress the two Hashira were making, but as dawn approached and the longer reprieves between battles, they began to let their guard down.
“I believe we may be done here.” Shinobu said after taking another lap around the woods that surrounded the village and finding nothing.
“There’s no way.” (Y/n) shook her head. “None of those demons were particularly challenging. I don’t see why so many demon slayers and villagers would have disappeared. We still haven’t found one with a dog-related demon art yet either…”
Shinobu shook her head, “Will you let that theory go already?”
“Nope! I know I’m on to something. I can feel it in my bones.”
“You’ve come to me with broken bones on enough occasions that I doubt that ‘feeling in your bones’ is reliable.”
“Come on, just one more lap, please? Humor me just this once.”
Shinobu bit the inside of her cheek, then sighed quietly. “Fine, one more lap, but only because you said please and I’ve never heard you ask so politely.”
(Y/n) stuck her tongue out at Shinobu again and then started jogging around the path once more. Shinobu shook her head, but followed (Y/n) anyway. They maybe made it about three-fourths through the wide ring they were traveling when (Y/n) stopped so suddenly, Shinobu almost bumped into her.
“Did you hear that?” She whispered, looking at Shinobu over her shoulder.
Before Shinobu could answer, a whining sound sounded from somewhere off of the path and (Y/n) leapt over some brambles to go investigate.
“(Y/n), don’t rush in without a plan.” Shinobu warned, leaping after her with her sword drawn.
“Oh, poor guy…”
“What? What is… it.” Shinobu trailed off when she caught up to see what (Y/n) was crouching over.
Yet another stray, caught up in some brambles. It’s whining and struggling only seeming to make itself more tangled.
“Awww, hang on buddy. I’ll get you out of there.” (Y/n) soothed, getting right in the brambles with the trapped dog.
“(Y/n), be careful.” Shinobu warned, feeling more on edge when she saw the dog growl and snap at (Y/n)’s hands.
“It’s fine. She’s just a little scared.”
It took a little work, but (Y/n) managed to free the dog from the brambles, getting a little scratched up herself in the process.
“Shinobu, will you check her out? Make sure she’s okay?”
“I’m not a veterinarian.”
“Oh come on, how different is it really?”
“Quite. Different.”
“Shinobu.” (Y/n) glared at her.
“Fine, fine.”
But before Shinobu could join (Y/n) beside the dog, it suddenly bolted, tail between its legs.
“Well, it must be perfectly fine to be able to run off like that.” Shinobu said, brushing off her hands on her pants even though she had not gotten the chance to touch the dog.
“Maybe physically fine, but that dog seemed terrified.” (Y/n) stood up and brushed herself off, looking deeper into the forest. “I’m gonna go further, see if I find something.”
She hopped over the bramble bushes and jogged deeper into the forest. Shinobu suppressed the urge to groan and followed her.
“Shinobu, look at this.” (Y/n) was crouched to the ground, a hakamashita and complementary hakama draped over her arms. “It’s like what they said in the village, random clothes in the woods. I wonder if these were left here recently.”
“They don’t appear to have been worn down by the elements. I would wager they haven’t been left for very long at all.” Shinobu deduced.
“You’re correct. I can assure you that bundle is quite fresh.”
(Y/n) and Shinobu whipped their heads around, finding a bright beam of red light being directed at the both of them.
“You’ll both make such cute little doggies~”
“Shinobu, move!”
Before Shinobu could react, (Y/n) was already pushing her out of the way, taking the full blast of the beam and collapsing onto the forest floor in front of her. Shinobu got up quickly, narrowly avoiding another beam.
“(Y/n)?” Shinobu cursed under her breath, her fellow Hashira was still laid out on the ground, writing in pain. She couldn’t afford to check on (Y/n)‘s condition at the moment, she needed to take down this demon first and she would be sure to make them suffer just as much as (Y/n) appeared to be.
“Ah! You’re a fast one, aren’t you? And such a scary look in your eyes!” The demon dodged each of Shinobu’s strikes, his tail wagging excitedly, annoyingly, Shinobu would add. “I’m doing you a favor, you’ll be so much happier, so carefree! You should feel honored that I want to give you a more simple life. I devour the humans I find unworthy. You look like you’d make a good dog person.”
“I’m more of a fish person, actually.” Shinobu tried to stab the demon again, but he dodged, back flipping away. “I can’t stand fur.”
“That so? A pity. But don’t you worry, you’ll forget all about your depressing human existence by the full moon and you’ll forget all about your silly little peculiarities.”
Shinobu dodged several more beams, trying to counter when she could, but it was fairly even on both sides. However, Shinobu did have one weapon that never failed her, the sun. If she could stall long enough, keep the demon within this clearing, he would burn to ash and scatter on the wind. Then she could focus on the dozens of people who had been transformed, she could make sure (Y/n) was going to be okay. She better be okay, because Shinobu had quite a few things to say to her after making such a self-sacrificing decision.
Dawn was quickly approaching after they already spent most of the night making rounds. Instead of taking a purely offensive approach, Shinobu began to defend the treeline to make sure the demon couldn’t slip away. The demon seemed to understand her plan and smiled wickedly.
“I’d keep my eye on your partner over there if I were you. The transformation process tends to leave people rather defenseless.”
Shinobu’s head snapped back towards (Y/n) on pure reflex and her grip on her nichirin blade tightened. Another demon was creeping towards the hunched bundle (Y/n) had become, hoping for an easy meal in the last moments before sunrise. Shinobu didn’t have to think twice before rushing in.
“I knew you’d make the right choice!” The dog-tailed demon laughed, springing into the dark woods and quickly out of sight as Shinobu’s blade found home in the much weaker demon’s chest.
The weaker demon spluttered, then stilled, the first beams of sunlight burning the body into nothing while Shinobu fell to her knees beside the lump of cloth that was once her rival, the person who pushed her away and spared her from having to share the same fate. The person who she still had so much left to compete over with, to argue with, to pop in on unexpectedly to torment when they were apart for too long, to tease, to talk, to eventually confess—
Shinobu shook her head and placed her hand on the center of the lump beneath the layers of haori and uniform.
“(Y/n)?” She cautiously called.
The lump beneath her palm stirred, and she pulled back, watching the bundle of fabric rise wiggle, a low growl came from the bundle as what was left beneath it struggled to free itself. Shinobu reached out again to help and another growl sounded as her hands came in contact.
“Calm down, I’m helping.” Shinobu assured, pulling the layers away, until the mid-sized Kishu dog could shake the rest off herself.
‘Oh gods…’ (Y/n) spun around on wobbly, unfamiliar paws, trying to get her bearings, trying not to panic at the new state of her body.
“Are you sincerely chasing your tail right now?” Shinobu asked, making (Y/n) turn to face her with a sharp bark of warning that if translated correctly would probably be the equivalent of ‘shut up’. “Can you still understand me?“
‘Do you really have to ask?’ An almost disbelieving snort left (Y/n)’s muzzle, the intelligent look in her eye being enough to answer Shinobu’s query.
“Okay, at least you have that much going for you. It’s unfortunate, I finally don’t have to listen to the nonsense you’re always spouting, but now I’m stuck with a fluffy-tailed mongrel.”
‘Hey!’ Another indignant bark and a little stomp of (Y/n)’s front paws was the best rebuttal she could give at the moment and Shinobu smirked despite the state of affairs they hand landed themselves in.
“Didn’t quite catch that, apologies.” A growl was the reply this time, and Shinobu chuckled. “Actually, this could be pretty fun. It’s too bad I have a responsibility to at least try to restore you to your former self. It wouldn’t do to have a Hashira who hasn’t the thumbs necessary to wield their sword.”
‘Oh, yeah? I’ll make you eat those words, just you wait!‘ (Y/n) huffed again and dug her snoot beneath her clothes and rustled around a bit, emerging once more with the hilt of her blade clasped firmly between her teeth. ‘Checkmate!’
“Put that down before you hurt yourself.” Shinobu reached out to take the sword, but (Y/n) was not making it easy for her, dragging the blade around Shinobu in several tight circles. “Drop it, mutt.” She ordered, smiling tightly.
‘As if I’d start taking orders from you.’ If dogs could roll their eyes, (Y/n) would have found a way, but a huff of air left her muzzle before she started to trot off towards the village, hilt still in her jaws. ‘This is kinda heavy though, actually…’
“Where do you think you’re going, the mansion is that way.” Shinobu tilted her head in the opposite direction as she gathered the rest of (Y/n)’s belongings.
‘I’m not the only dog-person here that needs a safe place to sleep.’
(Y/n) looked over her shoulder briefly before continuing to trot over to the village, sword dragging against the ground. If her swordsmith could see what she was doing, they’d probably have a heart attack. Shinobu released a long exhale from her nose then followed after her.
It soon became clear to Shinobu what (Y/n) was thinking about when she went back into the village. Slowly, she amassed a small fleet of stray dogs. Shinobu surmised through observation that these dogs must have been human once as well, as (Y/n) seemed to converse with them. Those that were pure stray dogs would, well, act like dogs. Those that seemed to have been human followed (Y/n) throughout the village and helped her locate more unfortunate souls.
Finally, (Y/n) trotted back up to Shinobu with the pack and looked up at her expectantly. Shinobu would have liked to wait on rounding up the civilian and slayer victims until after she had the cure prepared, but it would seem (Y/n) was expecting her to house all of these humans turned canine. She knew it was the right thing to do, some of them had been condemned to the outdoors since the moon had been waning. That didn’t stop Shinobu from dreading this sudden influx of furry patients, however.
“All right,” Shinobu sighed, “Let’s go…” she turned to start walking back home, but she heard (Y/n) grunt beside her, now struggling to continue dragging her sword around. Shinobu smirked. “Done being unreasonable?”
‘Oh, shut it.’ (Y/n) dropped the sword at Shinobu’s feet with a huff and Shinobu knelt down to pick it up, realizing too late how slimy the hilt was. Her whole body shivered with disgust and (Y/n) barked a laugh before scampering forward to take the lead.
“Someone is going to be sleeping in the garden shed tonight.” Shinobu smiled threateningly, wiping her hand off on (Y/n)’s haori still bundled within her arms.
***
Shinobu didn’t really make (Y/n) sleep in the shed, in fact, they ended up spending countless hours together in the lab. Shinobu had not expected finding a cure to be so difficult. She expected to have to adjust the formula she came up with for the slayers on Natagumo Mountain, but no matter how many time she recalculated, the drug just would not take effect.
As they days stretched on, she only got more anxious, though she did her best not to let it show. If what the demon said was true, they were running out of time before the transformation was permanent. Some of the victims who had been transformed earlier in the month sometimes got confused, more canine than human in behavior. Looking up at the night sky, a waxing gibbous hung high over Shinobu’s head, mocking her. In less than a week, the full moon would arrive, and the human minds trapped within their canine vessels would be lost.
There were very few things that made Shinobu angrier than a problem that she could not solve on her own. Medicine, science, that was her bread and butter. She knew logically that she wasn’t infallible, she couldn’t solve every problem, but that didn’t make it any less aggravating.
She dropped her head in her hands and rubbed her temples, then pressed the palms of her hands into her eyes. She had come out onto the engawa after another failed attempt to reverse the demon art’s effects on (Y/n) after hours of work. Now that she was outside, the moon only reminded her of how little time remained. She could just about scream.
But then a wet snoot swiped against her ear, making her cringe and bat away her visitor.
“(Y/n), that’s foul.” Shinobu glared at the Hashira turned hound now sitting beside her.
‘If you really want to be justifiably horrified, I could have licked you instead.’ (Y/n) chuffed at Shinobu’s displeasure then looked at her expectantly. Shinobu felt something uncomfortably heavy in her chest whilst looking at her.
“I suppose this is your way of telling me my break is over?” She tried to sound annoyed, but her tone sounded more pathetic to her own ears.
(Y/n) snorted and shook her head. ‘I hate that boring-ass lab’.
“Well, I must get back to the drawing board anyway.” Shinobu stood and turned to walk back inside, but a tugging on her haori made her pause. She turned around to reprimand (Y/n) but she had already leapt off of the engawa, circling a patch of dirt as if wanting Shinobu to come closer. Shinobu decided to humor her and hopped down to the ground herself, watching (Y/n) pick up a stick between her teeth.
“You don’t want me to throw that for you, do you?” Shinobu asked, half-joking, half worried that (Y/n) was starting to lose herself as well, but thankfully (Y/n) gave her an incredulous glare before proceeding to use the stick to sloppily draw in the dirt.
Shinobu scrutinized the crudely drawn blob, trying her best to decipher its meaning. “(Y/n), when you retire, art may not be a good hobby for you.”
‘You try drawing without hands!’ (Y/n) growled and stomped her paw against the dirt and then tried to make her doodle look more clear and somehow, Shinobu thought it was reminiscent of a certain demon that she very much wanted to pump full of poison.
“The dog demon? What about him?”
‘We go find him and fuck him up!’ (Y/n) mimicked searching and sniffing around, sneaking up on her messy drawing and then pouncing and digging at it with a growl until there was nothing left. She then looked up at Shinobu expectantly.
“You want to destroy him. As do I, but he could be anywhere by now. I can’t imagine he stuck around the village after all of that.” Shinobu knelt down in front of (Y/n). “You don’t need to worry, I’m not going to rest until I have the proper formula. You will be human again, I promise.”
‘Come on, Kochou. This is our best shot. You must know that by now.’ (Y/n) whined and shook her head. She pounced on the disturbed dirt again, looking up at Shinobu with a fire of determination in her eyes.
“We’re running out of time…” Shinobu tried her best to keep her voice even. “We can’t go out on some wild goose chase. Reworking the formula is the only thing we can do.”
A sharp bark left (Y/n), startling Shinobu, ‘We can do this! Since when have you ever been known to shy away when things get tough?’ She pounced on the dirt again and then sprinted to the mansion fence before turning back to Shinobu and barking again. ‘Let’s go, Kochou! I’d leave you behind, but in this state, I could really use the backup.’
Shinobu’s hands tightened into fists beneath the sleeves of her haori. “Stubborn fool.” She mumbled under her breath. She briefly looked behind her in the direction of the the lab, an uncertain feeling burying itself in her brain in a place where she just couldn’t shake it loose. Then she looked back to (Y/n), fur almost glowing under the moon. Even in this form, Shinobu could see the same steadfast determination that she had for every obstacle in front of her.
Shinobu felt a pulse of annoyance and anger. (Y/n) was the one who was about to lose everything, and here she was stalling and feeling sorry for herself. (Y/n) deserved to make the final call and Shinobu would do all she could to help her. And in the end, if it came to it, Shinobu would take care of that damn dog until her last breath. She would give her the best life a mutt could ever hope for. But now was not the time to start planning for that future outcome. She’d much rather have (Y/n) telling her stupid jokes, maybe finally work up the courage to hold her hand, grin when (Y/n) would get flustered by the sudden action and tease her relentlessly over getting so nervous from a simple hand hold. That’s what Shinobu wanted, and she’d be damned if she let that opportunity slip away from her for the last time.
“Alright then,” Shinobu took a calming breath, fingers grazing over the hilt of her blade, “We have less than a week to find him. Let’s hope that nose of yours can sniff out that vermin quickly.”
‘That’s what I’m talking about!’ (Y/n) barked excitedly, running circles around Shinobu once she had opened the gate. ‘Let’s get the bastard!’
***
They began in the village where everything went wrong and from there, (Y/n) picked up a scent. It was faint, but it was a start. For days (Y/n) and Shinobu were on the road, following the scent. Resting was a little tricky, Wisteria Houses weren’t always available and regular civilian lodging usually didn’t allow animals and (Y/n) was too big to smuggle in, so they would find places to sleep outside during the day. Sometimes Shinobu would fall asleep with her head on (Y/n)’s side, waking up disoriented and grossed out by the fur clinging to her clothes and hair while (Y/n) made the closest noise she could to a snicker and wagged her tail.
Shinobu would glare at her and chuck the nearest stick she could find into the woods, smirking when (Y/n) couldn’t help but go get it and bring it back to her with a strange mix between resentment and hopefulness that Shinobu would throw it again. After a couple more tosses, Shinobu would finally relent, satisfied that she had gotten her revenge.
They would then continue on, the scent getting stronger the further they traveled until finally on the last day, (Y/n) found herself surrounded by the scent. The demon’s new stomping grounds.
‘This is it!’ She barked and bounced back and forth, alerting Shinobu with her little dance.
“Is this it?” Shinobu felt hope rise within her as she took in the sea beyond the cliff they had found themselves near. Somewhere within this jagged landscape, the demon was laying low until sunset. Tonight, on the last possible night, Shinobu would end that demon and hear (Y/n)’s voice once more, to see her smile. Everything will be back to the way it was supposed to be.
Easier said than done.
When night fell, the demon wasn’t hard to find, they just needed to follow the scent and the trail of clumsy-looking dogs left in his wake. He wasn’t the same, however. After their last encounter about fifteen days ago, he had been devouring more humans than he had been transforming. He had anticipated the occurrence of this reunion and did his best to prepare for this moment. It was only by the carelessness of one of his demon companions that he managed to escape dawn’s first light.
“We meet again!” He said with a false chipper tone, scratching behind the ears of a dog struggling and whining against his hold. “Have you come to join your friend so you can be carefree and frolic together for the rest of your days?”
“No, not quite.” Shinobu smiled tightly, her thumb slowly dragging the first inch of her blade out of its sheath.
The demon frowned, his tail unmoving, “I didn’t think so. So unfortunate that you would rather fight against pure happiness!” He released the dog, who promptly scrambled away and aimed a beam of swirling red power at Shinobu.
Shinobu dodged the beam easily, fully prepared for the demon’s speed this time around. (Y/n) barked, sprinting through the woods to try to keep up with the battle, even though Shinobu had told her to stay back before the battle had even begun. As if (Y/n) was going to leave her without support, even if she was in the form of a dog.
The battle went on most of the night, slowly chipping away at Shinobu’s stamina and both her and the demon’s patience.
“Why won’t you just hold still!” He growled. “It’ll only take a minute! You’ll be so much happier! Would you really rather die? Leave your friend to wander through this world alone?”
“The only one who is going to die tonight, is you.” Shinobu swore, her sword clanking and scraping against the demon’s claws, trying to nick his skin just even once.
There was an orange glow bleeding into the horizon, dawn was approaching, highlighting the churning ocean below. Shinobu was not going to let him get away this time. She couldn’t. Even when she found herself dangerously close to the cliff’s edge, she did not waiver. Not even when her wrists had been trapped in the demon’s hands after a failed strike, even when the demon grinned wickedly at her, pushing her towards the edge of the cliff, the fire in her eyes did not leave her.
Guessing the demon’s intent, she dropped her sword and and grabbed the demon’s clothes. If she was going over the edge, so was he. The sun would rise as they fell, the demon would turn to dust before they hit the water. What happened after… well, as long as (Y/n) and the others were back to normal, then Shinobu thought the sacrifice would be worth it.
‘I don’t think so!’ With a mighty growl, (Y/n) launched into the fray, clamping sharp teeth into the back of the demon’s calf, ripping and tearing at the muscle, making the demon shout and push Shinobu to the ground to attempt to rip (Y/n) away from his leg, he kicked and shoved and punched, but (Y/n) kept a firm grip on the demon, until the cliff’s edge crumbled away beneath them.
“No!” Shinobu reached over the ledge in an attempt to grab (Y/n), but it was already too late, she watched in horror as the demon burned to ash and scattered in the wind, while (Y/n) disappeared in the surf.
(Y/n) kept her eyes to the sky as long as she could, watching Shinobu become nothing more than a blot of color on the cliff high above. A whine clawed out of her throat. Was this really it? ‘I should have told her how I really felt.’
Everything went black before she even hit the water.
Shinobu scaled down the cliff as fast as she could, not ready to accept the reality of what she saw. (Y/n) was too stubborn, too annoyingly resilient. There was no way she was going to lose her. Not when she had so much she wanted to tell her.
“(Y/n)!” She yelled over the sound of waves crashing over the rocky shore. “(Y/n), where are you?”
Finally, something caught her eye in the surf, a bundle of fur floating up and down in the waves. Shinobu quickly waded out to her knees, stumbling on the slippery rocks beneath her feet. She wrapped her arms around the motionless lump and dragged it back to shore, collapsing right on the edge where the waves would still lap at her feet as she laid on the sandy rocks, her face buried in the wet, matted fur of one of the most special people in her life.
“Why did you have to do that, you idiot?” Shinobu hissed, breaths coming quick and shallow. “You told me once that I’d never be able to be rid of you. You swore…”
Shinobu’s eyes stung with sea salt and tears, shutting them tightly as she hugged (Y/n) closer. “There’s so much I didn’t get to tell you, so much I wanted to hear from you,” Her voice cracked, “Something was wrong, why didn’t you just tell me what was on your mind that day? Why didn’t I pry further? You promised you’d tell me, so keep your damn promise and wake up!”
As she weeped, she failed to notice the fur melt away from between her clenched fists, how the body expanded and morphed beneath her tear-stained face. Only after the body beneath her blinked awake and rose a hand to clutch Shinobu’s haori, did her eyes open, harboring a manic look within.
(Y/n) managed a tired grin though she looked like she nearly drowned. With as much strength as she could muster, she brought her hand to Shinobu’s cheek, clumsily brushing her chilled and clammy fingers against the tear-stained skin.
“H-hey…” Her vocal chords didn’t feel exactly right yet, but it was music to Shinobu’s ears. She brought her own hand up, keeping (Y/n)’s hand pressed to her cheek.
“You…” a watery chuckle escaped her lips, “you damn fool, why did you do that?”
“What?” (Y/n) spoke hoarsely, “And let you have all the glory? I don’t think so. I always feel like I’m trying to catch up to you as it stands. Any opportunity I can find to show you I’m just as good as you is one I can’t pass up on.”
“And what an ineffective way to show it. You could have not been less graceful if you tried.”
“Hey!” (Y/n) coughed and Shinobu quickly helped her sit up, wrapping her shivering body in her haori and pulling (Y/n)’s head to her chest, and hugging her close in an attempt to give her some warmth.
“Don’t get so excited, you’re in bad shape. In fact, just focus on breathing, alright? That’s all I want from you right now.”
“But there’s something I gotta say first.”
“It can wait.”
“It’s been held off long enough.” She insisted. “I made a promise and I don’t want to wait another minute to tell you so…” She swallowed thickly and cleared her throat, “All the years we spent brawling, competing, goading… I wouldn’t trade any of that for anything. You’re presence has always been my safety blanket, my constant. You’re the most important person in my life and I love you.” (Y/n) sighed, the tail-end of the breath coming out as a chuckle. “Can’t believe how easy that was to finally say—“
Shinobu squeezed (Y/n)’s cheeks between the fingers of one hand with such force that (Y/n) could feel Shinobu’s fingers against her teeth, the muscle and skin of her cheeks being the thin barrier between them. Suddenly her back was against the rocky sand again, Shinobu hovering over her almost menacingly.
“Oh you love me, do you Miss Gallantry? What a relief to hear, truly.” And truthfully, Shinobu was relieved, elated even, but the aura she was emitting shook (Y/n) to her very core. “The one to save me not once, but twice is also the first to say ‘I love you’? Are you trying to outdo me, (Y/n)?”
“I-it’s not a competition!” (Y/n) sputtered, unable to look away from Shinobu’s intense stare as the grip on her face persisted.
“Everything has always been a competition of sorts between us, (Y/n),” Shinobu’s face drew closer, “and I’m not going to let you leave me behind. My comeback starts now.”
Shinobu’s lips met hers in a searing, salty kiss, and a rather thorough one at that. When she pulled away, they were both breathing heavily.
“I love you more.” Shinobu smugly declared. “Even though you currently smell like wet dog.”
“I do not!”
“Oh, you definitely do. It’s rather disturbing. I hope it’s not permanent.”
“You don’t exactly smell like flowers right now either!” (Y/n) pouted, wrapping her arms around Shinobu so she could bring her closer and rub her wet, tangled hair against Shinobu’s clothes, making Shinobu gasp and try to push her away.
They bickered, bantered, laughed and kissed, laying side by side on the ocean shore as the sun creeped further into the sky, bathing them in a warm glow. After a few days rest at the nearest Wisteria House, the pair finally returned to the Butterfly Mansion, finding all manner of gifts left at the mansion gate.
As Aoi would later explain, they were gifts of gratitude from the villagers once affected by the troublesome spell. The girls were surprised to learn that the two Hashira were finally together. Not so much surprised by the fact that they enjoyed each other’s company that much, but surprised that they finally admitted it out loud to each other.
But what maybe surprised the Butterfly Mansion residents more than the admission of love was how the competitions never subsided. It became a lot more lively around the mansion, especially if Tanjirou and the gang were hanging around. Seeing the genuine smile light up Shinobu’s face whenever (Y/n) was with her was contagious.
“Here girl, we’re going to be late. I’m not going to let you sabotage my perfect date.” Shinobu whistled, patting her thighs as (Y/n) slipped on her shoes.
“Don’t talk to me like a dog!” She couldn’t stop the smirk that worked its way into her lips as she joined Shinobu at her side. “Besides, why would I stall? It’s going to be impossible for you to one up the last outing I planned.”
Shinobu lightly ran her fingers down the side of (Y/n)’s face, smiling when she caught wind of a couple butterflies fluttering in (Y/n)’s stomach at the gentle touch. “I wouldn’t count me out just yet.”

Tag Game
(It’s a big one today folks)
Thanks for tagging me though @alor-ika
Any eating utensil preferences?
Short answer: I’m fine with whatever, forks are generally most useful for what I have most often but a knife comes in clutch and spoons are helpful and chopsticks are very useful. Everything has its place.
Long answer (Okay folks this gonna be a long one bear with me): So, spoons. I like spoons but their shape has to be very particular for the meal to be useful otherwise it’s unproductive and perhaps a little inconvenient. Flat spoons make soup a chore for example, but a smaller spoon is better for breakfast, the depth of the spoon has to vary on the solidity of the meal though generally can’t go wrong with depth. Cereal is best eaten with a smaller deeper spoon as long as you got time to sit there and enjoy. Forks are really helpful when you know how to stack and shiver things with them. Gets rid of the need for a spoon at lunch and dinner if you’re good at forks. I prefer a fork for pasta, still a little blindsided when people go for a spoon instead, unless it’s the tiny pasta, that makes sense. Knives are helpful because things need to be cut. There’s really not much to say. You know which blade is best for what though I don’t bother looking for a serrated blade usually. Chopsticks have been my best friend since I mastered using them. Very helpful with most every dish. Unfortunately I don’t own a pair so I can only mystify my sister by eating fried rice with them at our rare nights of Chinese takeout. Love the soup spoons they give in those restraints for wontons or miso soup by the way.
A genre of music you like?
So many. Those who saw my music recommendations know.
A type of seasoning/condiment that would make anything edible for you?
Boring answer: salt
Real answer: anything can taste good if lathered with enough sour cream.
Pens or Pencils? What kind?
Pencils. Specifically mechanical. I like that they’re refillable and I can vary the lead softness if I’m feeling fancy. My handwriting is also just better with pencil. I take notes with pen though because it shows up better on the paper.
What’s your weirdest most interesting hobby?
Not sure. Scuba diving is probably up there. I’ll pick up a hobby here and there when I feel something might be useful in the moment or in general. Some of the more random ones I’ve done for such reasons were; candle making, flower weaving, scented oil making (though that was to save money on the candle stuff), baking here and there, sowing but mostly mending. I don’t really do sports as hobbies, I either drop them or they take over my life. I’ve tried hockey, volleyball, gymnastics, and hip hop. None of those stuck with me the way karate had. Can’t tell you why. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Favorite real person that you don’t personally know?
I think Christopher Lee is absolutely awesome. Tolkien is pretty high up there too. However Ip Man is an absolute legend. A great master of Wing Chun, he also taught Bruce Lee. There’s actually a couple movies on him starring Donnie Yen (Chirrut from Rogue 1). They’re a little exaggerated for dramatic value but a good watch nonetheless.
How many alarms do you have set?
And 8:00am for weekdays and a 9:30 for weekends by default though I change them on a case by case basis.
Do you have any pets? Would you want some?
I love cats. Can’t really afford to get anything high maintenance with my current schedule though. I’m afraid that might be so for a long while.
Favorite drink, alcoholic or non?
Tea. I love tea. I’ll drink most any kind (hot, iced, bubble, milk, no milk, green, black, fruit, flower etc.) except for cinnamon. Green tea is probably my favorite. Coffee makes me sleepy so I never really got into it. The only type of coffee adjacent drink I’ll ever get is matcha latte. The bitter flavor is actually pretty good in that case.
Favorite shoes?
My vans. Had to get new ones though because the sole fell off a couple weeks back.
Favorite smell?
Rain or backed goods. Why not both? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
How do you feel about bugs and spiders?
I like em. I think they’re cool. I’ll pick up a spider if I need to but usually I’ll just let them coexist in my space unless they decide to bother me. Then I’ll remove them if possible or adjust so I’m not in their way if it’s not too much effort. Still a huge fan of rollypollys. You will catch my freaking out and picking it up if I ever see one. Used to dig up whole nests of them as a kid and sort them by color. The purple ones were guaranteed to make you the coolest kid in my friend group.
Outdoors or Indoors?
I do a lot of stuff indoors so I’ll have to say indoors but I honestly enjoy being outside a fusion of the two I suppose.
Sunny or Rainy?
This heavily depends on the temperature, location, time, and my current activity.
Where would you really like to visit? Would you live there?
I’d like to see Japan and the Netherlands. Wouldn’t live in either though. Languages are hard and it would really hold me back.
Are you a people person?
I think I like people, I just have a very small social battery. Currently a little busy to keep up with anyone though so I’m mostly hanging out with people online for my daily dose of socialization.
At what temperature do you keep your home (or would like to?)
No lower than 20 and no higher than 24 during the day. 17 to 21 in the night. If winter is cold where I’m at I can accept it being warmed up to 27 to thaw out the chill.

Patience: ~Chika's 'Down with Honey' declaration!~

➼ pairing: Kyoya Ootori x Reader ➼ summary: the host club gets a visit from the youngest Haninozuka son ➼ what to expect: "Hm, when you put it like that I suppose the two of us do have some similarities, do i really sound like that?" ➼ warnings: Angst ➼ Part Seventeen | Part Nineteen
"Excuse me, are you a member of the host club? Could you ask third year student Mitskuni Haninozuka to meet me out here?" A middle school boy approaches you and Haruhi on the way into the host club.
"Who Honey-Senpai? You sure?"
"yes"
Honey on the back of Mori slides through the door "Oh look it's Chika-chan! So what's up? You rarely ever come over to the highschool like this to see me"
"Prepare yourself Mitskuni" The boy flings himself into the hostclub, nearly knocking the two of you down in the process, sending a flying kick in honey's direction
"Woah did you see that?!" the unmistakably grating voice of renge echoes as she arises into the host club "Honey-senpai dodged Chika's preliminary attack! this is gonna be good"
"What's going on?" haruhi asks "God not this again"
"Honey senpai is able to fly through the air with such grace!he's like a modern day Ushiwakamaru! Woah Chicka attacks again without even giving him a chance to regain his balance! Incredible, he dodged his attack and tripped him. Neither of them are gonna give! They keep lashing out with ferocious techniques!"
You step away, not wanting to be collateral damage and heading further into the host club. "So they're at it again"
"I wish they would've chosen a better location"
"Wait why are you guys so calm?"
Chika pulls out a quaterstaff, launching in Honey's direction. "Woah he knocked him out of the park!" "This may be his first win!"
"I gotcha"
Renge stands "Sorry I don't think so, the winner of this one is Honey-Senpai"
"Renge's right about that" Chika looks down to find his trousers pinned to the floor with knives "See he got you"
"How the hell did he do that?" Honey dusts himself off, renge showing a replay on the projector before thankfully disappearing.
"Hey guys? I'm completely lost, you wanna tell me what's going on here? Whoe's that kid and why did he attack Honey-Senpai?"
"What? you mean you can't tell just by looking at his face? He's Honey-senpai's younger brother"
♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡
Chika's 'down with Honey' declaration!
♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡
"The Haninozukas are a noble family. We excel at martial art, we've combined style over the years, to create our own method of fighting. When we're away, we study karate and judo but when we're home, we work hard to master the Haninozuka technique. So to make sure that we always stay alert we have been taught that whenever two family members come face-to-face they must engage each other in battle"
"Go on yasuchika, we saved you a yummy piece of cake"
"Thank you but I don't care for sweets. Besides, a basic principle of the Haninozuka technique is refraining from selfishness. So to let myself indulge in sweets would be out of the question." Chika appears incredibly bored, you raise an eyebrow at the sight as you and Kyoya sit down at a table nearby.
"But, one little piece of cake isn't really going to hurt you"
"Hold on. I happen to know of a sweets-loving overly-pampered little loli-boy who happens to be" "The next head of the haninozukas and he's sitting right over there"
"Let me just say, there's no way I'm ever going to recognise a dimwit like Mitskuni as the next head of the family. There's no doubt my older brother is strong but he lives a decadent lifestyle and has failed to show any self-restraint. He no longer has the right to be called a haninozuka. I can't allow someone who arbitarily quit the Karate club only to become hooked on cake and stuffed animals to be the head of the haninozuka family. Even if he is my older brother, i've been meaning to make that clear for a while and another thing mitskuni, i've said it before and I'll say it again stay away from me at school, got it?"
Chika storms out of the host club.
♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡
"Senpai are you okay?"
"Honey-senpai, so what should we do with this cake?"
"I'll eat it!" The cake disappears as soon as honey spots it.
"So you used to be in the Karate club senpai? I had no idea, what made you decide to quit and join the host club?"
"Why did you just say 'the host club' like that? What are you getting at huh?"
"Well no matter how you cut it, the Karate club is a much more reputable club"
You zone out of the main conversation and turn back to Kyoya "I must admit Chika was unecessarily harsh on Honey-Senpai earlier" he mutters, underlining things on the page. "If you think about it, you and him actually have a lot in common"
"Huh?"
"Come on, you must see the similarities. A younger son of a reputable family who refuses to indulge himself to uphold the values of said family and overtake the eldest son and has a distaste for sweets? Chika is you but instead of the host club he has the Karate club"
"Hm, when you put it like that I suppose the two of us do have some similarities, do i really sound like that?"
Your head tilts to the side, pursing your lips. "A little, sometimes"
"Alright gentlemen! Time for Operation: Haninozuka Brothers reconciliation!"
"Horray!"
"I knew he was gonna say that"
♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡
The host club end up spying on the Karate club through the windows of the school. "Well, so far it looks like a simple inferiority complex" "He's always being compared to Honey-Senpai so that's why he feels such animosity towards him. His older brothers is more attractive, more popular, and a better martial artist than he is. I think he's just letting his jealousy get the best of him."
"It's totally normal and way boring, we're going to find something more entertaining" The twins walk off "Hold on you two, why are you suddenly being so uncooperative?"
"Well we thought there'd be an interesting secret reason they're fighting this is just lame"
"So Honey-Senpai and Chika's feelings aren't exciting enough?"
Honey steps forward "It's ok Tama-chan, really"
"But, Honey-Senpai"
"Its ok, don't worry about me, so what if Chika-chan hates me? I would be happy just seeing him grow up to be strong and healthy he is my brother afterall"
"Um, he's already a lot taller than you, Honey-Senpai" "Yeah he's pretty grown up and plenty healthy"
"Excuse me, could you guys please keep it down?" Chika appears behind the group. "What are you doing here? I thought I had told you to stay away from me at school Mitskuni" Chika launches for Honey once more, barely giving the others a chance to jump out of the way. Honey kicks him away almost effortlessly. "You alien, will you just leave me alone?"
"But Chika-chan-" "What does he mean 'alien'?"
"Why did you call him that? Just because your brorther is stronger than you are, doesn't give you the right to call him an alien"
"Yeah, why are you so upset about cake and stuffed animals?"
"Well if it was just cake and stuffed animals I would have never said anything. Let's get this straight, I didn't call my brother an alien because he is stronger than me. Have any of you ever seen him devour an entire cake? Don't tell me you guys think that is perfectly normal! He has three whole cakes every night for dessert! Seriously, three cakes a night! And he never gains weight!"
"So Honey-Senpai eats that way at home, too"
"And then something crazy ocurred last week, I happened to wake up in the middle of the night, and I noticed that the light was on in the dining room. And he was in there surrounded by cakes! He has a special cake night everyweek! You know there's no way that a regular human being can eat that much cake! Aren't you terrified? I bet he gets signals from his home planet through that weird bunny of his! Why can't you see that he's an alien?"
"When you think about it..."
"Everything chika just said to us..."
"Suddenly makes perfect sense, doesn't it?"
"I don't know though...there was a time when Mistkuni and I got along really well. While it's true that my brother's always had a fondness for cute things, and more of a sweet tooth than I have. I still respected his ability to avoid that stuff even though he loved it. And then this idiot came along and brainwashed him with some ridiculous nonsense. Something about acknowledging who you really are and just being himself. That that's true strength. Not long after that he fell apart and became the alien he is today" Chika falls to his knees.
"Oh I see so all of chika's troubles" "Can be traced right back to you, isn't that right boss?"
"What are you talking about I didn't mean to! There's gotta be some way we can fix this! Come on, you guys!"
Mori places a hand on Honey's shoulder "There's a way to solve this, you know?"
"You've got it figured out?"
"So Mitskuni, you know what to do"
"Listen Chika-chan I never meant to upset you, I didn't know that you hated sweets that much and I'm very sorry"
You sigh "Looks like he's missed the point completely"
"Nobody can make me change who I am and I'm really grateful to Tama-chan and all of the host club, because they've shown me that. So let's settle this like men in the Haninozuka style Yasuchika."
"Oh no" You quickly pull youself, Kyoya, and Haruhi backwards and out the way, sensing what's about to happen..
"And don't forget Chika-chan this is a one-point match"
"So what happens if I win?"
"If you win, I'll stop eating cake in the middle of the night."
"Alright"
"Are you ready for battle men? Then you may begin"
Honey -senpai goes for chika once again, breaking out into a similar fight they had earlier "Is it just me or is this turning out exactly like the one they had earlier?"
"Yes but this time, their roles have reversed"
"Mitskuni's already planned out how this entire fight will pan out. Yasuchika will attack with his shuriken any moment now"
As if on cue chika matches Mori's exact words.
"Woah he called it"
"I have been watching these two brothers spar for many years, and it didn't take long before I noticed that in every match Yasuchika incorporates moves that Mitskuni used in the previous match. Mitskuni realised it as well, and he always tries to give his brother the opportunity to practice those new techniques. he may call him an alien, but as far as martial arts are concerned, Yasuchika has a deep respect for Mitskuni and his abilities. I think all he really wants is to be like his older brother. they are connected just as two siblings ought to be and personally, I think a little sibling rivarly is perfectly normal. There's no need to worry about the outcome of this match, I can already tell you that Mitskuni is planning to throw the fight and let Yasuchika win. Trust me I know everything there is to know about him"
""o i think that is the most I have ever heard Mori speak at once"
As you say that Honey launches Chika to the ground, clearly not holding back and winning the match.
"Yay! I'm the winner! Cake! Cake! Cake!"
"Wow I guess Honey-senpai loves cake more than his brother" you look at the sight of Chika defeated on the ground. A buzz draws your attention to your phone, a new email alert capturing your focus.
'Hello Miss L/N,
Attatched is the documents that you requested, I have created a new email to avoid tracing back to me, all communications will be from this email from now on. I hope this is what you were looking for.
Good luck'
You bring up the files on your phone "Kyoya? You may wanna see this" he hums, leaning over to see your screen. "Oh my god."
Next time on patience 'Lobelia Girls academy strikes back!'

what sports do you think the babies of dragodile would play?
I don't really know because from what we've seen of Luffy he doesn't really play sports, so I don't know how available sports as after school activities are in Windmill Village. I can see them just playing, i.e. going out and kicking a ball around. But sports are rather seen as training to get stronger than something you do for fun or competitively. And their parents would probably go "ah, you like karate? This is Koala, she can teach you to master fishman karate!" or "you like swinging around a sword? May I introduce you to Mihawk" or even "you've got a good punch there, son! Come with me to punch military vessels for training!! You'll be a good marine, I can tell!"
Nobody in this family is normal. Unless your hobby is something like mushroom hunting that does not have any glaringly obvious chances of strengthening your skill as a pirate or whatever, you just don't have sporty hobbies I guess.
And I don't really know Baby 2 to 5's personalities yet (I mean, they don't even have names.) so I can't tell what they'd be into. I think I consider all the characters mostly along the lines of where their particular strengths and interests may lay and then maybe that would then give an indication what kind of sports they might enjoy.
Like, for example Baby 2 Merry might become a researcher/ archeologist like Auntie Robin. And she grows up with lots of people who can't swim (and there's lots of fun stuff to look at under sea level) so that might motivate her to build physical strength. Etc etc.

Kobra Kid Headcanons lets go
Likes tight clothing, makes him feel more secure and safe.
Will teach you karate if you bribe him enough, but it takes a’lot of bribing.
Doesn’t really care about gender or pronouns, but likes xe/xer pronouns because they sound cool.
Touch his hair and he’ll bite your hand.
Motorbike stunts for days.
A short fuse but a master at keeping cool. When he’s really pissed tho someone will get their teeth knocked in.
Doesn’t admit it but relies heavily on Party to keep his head above water.
Prefers driving around at night when it’s quieter and less bright.
Loves sweet and spicy food, bonus points if its both.
Becomes aggressive when overwhelmed and scared.
Loves sunrises. He will sometimes stay up all night just so he can watch the sun come up early in the morning.
Party helped make his helmet, they’re to thank for the paint job.
Keeps a little dino keychain in his pocket at all times.
Has horrible tan lines from wearing his sunglasses too long in the sun.
Flappy hands and stompy feet when excited.
Light sensitive, thus the sunglasses. Wears them indoors and at night too.
The most anxious around injuries, he doesn’t like blood.
Snorts when he laughs.
Loves the desert and the freedom that comes with it.
Has a very keen sense of smell and is very good at figuring out where the smell is coming from.
Knows sign language and uses it instead of speaking to communicate sometimes.
Absolutely HATES powerpup but forces himself to eat it if theres nothing else even if it makes him sick. Party tries really hard to look for other kinds of food when going on supply runs so his poor brother can eat.
Chews on the straps of his leather gloves when anxious.
Really likes bubbles.
Sleeps in his jacket for security.
A troublemaker with Ghoul and always finds ways to pull off stupid shit with him.
Likes Michael Bay movies.
Hardly ever cries, but when he does it’s cathartic. The others need to intervene because he chokes up while he’s heaving.
Prefers comics over books, he likes looking at pictures better.
Only the girl is allowed to doodle on his bike, if the others try he will deck them.
Most terrified of being captured by Bli, he doesn’t ever want to go back to the city.
Can play the harmonica really well.
Loves old and broken technology because he thinks its cool and likes to fix things.
Teaches the others to read, especially Jet and Ghoul. Ghoul can read but has dyslexia, Jet never really learned how to read properly at all.
Will try to pet any reptile he sees, even if its venomous or poisonous.
Can sleep sitting up, the others sometimes need to do a double take and check if he’s awake or not since he always wears sunglasses.
Obsessed with VHS tapes and has a collection of them with god knows what on them.
Freezes when panicking, will stay in shock at something until someone needs to move him.
Likes close range combat so he can show off his karate skills.
Instead of cussing in an argument he’ll just look at someone like they’re stupid.
Makes action figures for the girl out of spare parts, responsible for all of her robot toys.
Takes AGES to do his hair, hence why he wants no one to touch it.
If he’s not in his room at night, he’s on the diner roof watching the stars.
When the girl was a toddler, she would call him Kobi instead of Kobra.
Has a wide vocabulary due to being educated in the city, but refuses to use it.
Lost a tooth after an accident on the crash track, he gave it to Ghoul who turned it into a pendant.

So I've started watching Cobra Kai and it's the coolest shit ever (almost done with season 5 at the time of posting), so naturally, I've decided to make a RWBY AU about it. Now right now this is just a half baked idea, but hopefully I'll refine it and make it an actual story sometime. Here's a list of all the roles certain characters could occupy:
Summer Rose -> Daniel LaRusso: Once a poor kid who moved across the country and dealt with bullies until she learned karate and beat her rival in a big tournament. Now wealthy and successful, Summer learns the dojo that tormented her in her youth has reopened and seeks to do whatever she can to stop their influence. I chose Summer for Daniel because of her status as the previous generations' hero, and about how they both try to do what they think is the right thing, even if they don't always succeed
Raven Branwen -> Johnny Lawrence: Summer's chief bully until she was defeated at the tournament and ended up becoming a drunken moronic loser. Until she meets a student who needs her help and she develops into drunken moronic karate sensei. Raven's girlfailure energy and hidden heart of gold fits the present day Johnny very well, and plus having her as Johnny lets us have...
Yang Xiao Long -> Robby Keane: Raven's estranged and troubled daughter, who takes a job working for her mom's nemesis out of spite. However, when Summer proves to be a much better mother figure then her bio-mom, Yang joins her dojo and quickly becomes its top fighter. Yang and Raven as Robby and Johnny was such a perfect combination that I couldn't resist, it had to be them.
Emerald Sustrai -> Miguel Diaz: A high schooler who moves next to Raven and learns her neighbor is a karate master after running afoul of bullies. After convincing her to train her, Emerald becomes the first and star student of Raven's newly opened dojo. I'm gonna be honest, I'm really not sure who would best fit Miguel's role, if you have any better ideas comment in the notes.
Ruby Rose -> Sam LaRusso: Summer's daughter who trained in martial arts as a child and lived a sheltered life, until her new "friends" start a smear campaign against her. Angered by this, Ruby starts doing karate once again and ends up falling in love with Emerald. There isn't much to say for this one other then I chose Ruby for Sam because she's Summer's daughter.
Cinder Fall -> Tory Nichols: A deeply troubled but highly confident teenager who joins Raven's dojo. She very quickly becomes deeply personally offended by Ruby's existence and does whatever she can to crush her rival's dojo. Cinder definitely fits some of Tory's more unhinged moments and I think she'd be a good threat to the heroes.
Lie Ren -> Eli "Hawk" Moskowitz: A quiet teenager who gets bullied along with his long time best friend Jaune. He joins Raven's dojo and develops a hyper confident persona as he learns karate, only to become a bully due to the influence of Ironwood. I chose Ren for Hawk because they both start out as very quiet kids who don't say much and because they both have arcs about having a downward spiral in part due to the influence of a military man.
Jaune Arc -> Demetri Alexopoulos: A sarcastic nerd who gets bullied along with his best friend Ren. Initially staying out of karate due to Raven's harsh teaching styles, he ends up joining Summer's dojo due to a lot of his former friends becoming bullies under Ironwood's influence. This one was a no-brainer, Jaune had to be Demetri.
James Ironwood -> John Kreese: The main antagonist, a karate sensei and war veteran whose PTSD and No Honor, No Mercy philosophy poisons a lot of his students into becoming bullies, including Raven in the past. When Raven's revived dojo becomes a success, he returns to pass on his corruptive teachings to the next generation. Ironwood as Kreese was another obvious for me, given Kreese's past as a war veteran and both of their struggles with PTSD.
Arthur Watts -> Terry Silver: The other main antagonist, Ironwood's wealthy longtime business partner who has ambitions to spread the No Honor, No Mercy philosophy worldwide. Although he's initially a close friend of Ironwood's, Watts ends up becoming disillusioned and starts forming plans of his own. I decided to have Watts be Silver because of their past histories of being allies with Ironwood and Kreese (and also because RWBY's resident corrupt ultra rich CEO Jacques is nowhere near cool enough to be Terry Silver).
And that's all the main cast. Feel free to leave suggestions for other rolls or characters that you think are fitting.

None of Our Business
Chapter 03: "How Could I ?"
Pairing: College!Matt Murdock x fem!reader
Summary: You are a winner. Always have been and always will be. In your final year at Colombia you're aiming to earn an internship from an esteemed law firm which will ensure the success of your career post law school. Someone however, is making life difficult and his name is Matt Murdock. For some reason he's always in your business, everywhere you turn he's there and while you never expected it maybe he's just what you need.
Word count: 861
Warnings: swearing, alcohol, angst (Future SMUT I still, still, still promise 🤞🏻)
a/n: Thank you to everyone who still shows support on even though I barely update. I plan on updating more regularly and I would like to make a master list.
There have been many times in your life where you have felt like the world has been moving too fast for you. When your parents got divorced you felt like you couldn't handle home life and middle school drama because everything felt like a big deal then. In High School when your first boyfriend broke up with you and you failed your first exam it felt like the absolute worst week of your life.
Today, you were getting ready to meet Chris for the campus movie night. You were excited to put makeup on and go and see 'Karate Kid'. You were putting your mascara on when your phone started buzzing. It was your mom, "Y/N your dad has been in a really bad car accident. I'm on my way to pick you up don't panic."
A completely unexpected event in your life that has suddenly changed everything, you felt like you couldn't clearly grasp where you were, how to act and what to think. Rushing off a text to Chris and jumping in your moms car felt like everything was moving too fast for you once again.
Coming to the hospital and seeing your dad with a leg cast and a smile was the relief that brought the fear, fast paced thinking, sweat and tears to a stop. The time spent with your family in the hospital felt like the warm emotional embrace you've been needing.
Then the unexpected happened. The sentence you'd been dreaming of as a teen but dreaded in your adult years. All the time spent dreading holidays split between homes and back and forth, arguments and petty disputes at special events and the peace of space between your mom and dad all melted away. All the work you've been doing over the years to not let your parents divorce affect you has completely melted away in this forsaken hospital room.
"Your dad and I have decided to remarry. I know it's shocking but your dad moved back in a few months ago and we decided to keep it quiet. Obviously until now"
This moment feels a little deeper in your soul, mixing emotions, the shock of your dad being in hospital and the interrupted happy moment prior to this news all dropping on you at once. Your personal life drama and the stress of school you needed anything but this right now.
You decided to let your parents know how much you didn't need this by having the breakdown of the century and some could say it was both a good thing and a bad thing this was happening in a hospital. The look of horror on your parents face was only comparable to when your mom found "Oregano" in your back pocket when doing the laundry on your first Christmas back from college.
You needed air and space to breathe. You needed anything but this right now. You did exactly that by walking loops around the outdoor smoking area of the hospital. Your brain was rattling on and on to you on the meaning of life and if law school was even important to you anymore. Then reality hit you big time.
Seeing how many other people were in the hospital experiencing a completely different side to life made you appreciate that the biggest problem in your life was upcoming exams and re-coupling parents.
As well as a small love triangle in your in your life. You had no idea what your chances at romance were now that you had messed up with Chris and with Matt. All of these problems you were facing were caused by you and were yours to fix. So you decided to fix them.
"Y/N ?" was Matts reaction to you knocking on his apartment door at 2am. Prior to this you contemplated waking Matt up especially after everything you've already put him through but it was important for you to make up for everything now. Especially when you had this much courage and motivation to do anything to make things right.
"Can I come in?"
"Of course, is everything okay?"
As Matt got himself settled on his couch you felt you needed to create some physical distance to get out what was on your mind seeing as though he answered the door shirtless with ruffled hair.
"Everything is not okay and that's why I am here, Matt I need you to let me say this and get it all of my chest. I was horrible to you, I took advantage of you letting me stay with you and treated you like less than what you are to me. You don't know how ,much you mean to me because I didn't show you. I want to tell you now because I really want you to know how much you mean to me. This friendship has evolved to something a lot more than I could handle at the time and I just felt I couldn't give you what you wanted from me but I am ready now"
"Y/N... I"
After all that a woman. With Matt's Columbia shirt on. Walks out of his room.
"I'm Elektra, I don't think we've met".
