Tumblr media
(from Gabi Belle's video "How Dropshipping Ruined Online Shopping")
YES OMG. I went to an anime convention a few months ago and saw SO many cheap bootlegs being sold as if they were authentic items. Being an experienced collector, I have a good eye for bootlegs so it didn't affect me, but I couldn't help but think of all the people who were duped into buying a crappy $30 bootleg that they could have gotten on Aliexpress for like $2.

Wow!! I hate this dropshipper!
This is the same post
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can tell @my-kawaii--world made post A and then edited it to be post B. Post A was meant to trend to the top of the tags, post B was meant to pivot to directing people to their dropshipping store, "lavenderconstellation" Users see a post with a ton of notes and think "must be legit, these are real users, not just porn bots!" and think that the store website is trusted by all those thousands of users.
I think it's high odds that "lavenderconstellation" is a dropshipping website. Dropshipping is when someone makes an online storefront for a variety of curated products that the store runner neither manufactures nor even likely has their hands on. They use product photos they found online, they have no guarantee of quality or even that they'll be able to acquire the product when you it order from them. They may take your money and give you nothing, they may give you a random other product so they can produce a shipping label, they may send you a product that is similar to the photos. Not likely they'll get you the products as pictured at the prices they are listing.
At best, a dropshipper is a middle-man. At worst they'll take your money and customer info and you get nothing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again, it started as a meme and then pivoted to this ring sales page. As you can see from this person's comment, well noticed @hst3000 👍
I'm wondering about that @dduane reply, is faked or that a real reply she made at some point? Have they just been milking that "celebrity" endorsement for every one of the posts they made to sell that thing?
Always, linking to the same dropshipping store saying something that implies they just stumbled upon it and are not personally involved with the one store they are always showcasing products from.
Always, a dozen or more vaguely related popular tags that trend often, vaguely related to the product enough that you can't quite call it "tag spam."

correct me if i'm wrong but someone independently hand-making bookmarks and selling them as an indie business...can still be considered petit bourgeois even if they don't buy material that's made in sweatshops or something, the sweatshop thing is not the determining factor there
sure, that's definitely more ethical practice & people who make things to sell should pursue avenues that don't rely as much on the labor exploitation of the global south to the best of our ability, but that doesn't stop someone from being petit bourgeois

The funny thing about a TFP Humanformers AU is that if you’re changing the bots to humans, that leave the question of if the humans are bots or the humans are not, because if the Autobot Decepticon faction division still exists and the war is ongoing you’d kinda just… be left with random robot children that got involved somehow.
I mean, cybertronian Fowler makes sense given he’s a military man and primary human liaison for the Autobots already, flipping him around potentially means that he’s a military ranked bot hiding on Earth under the protection of the Autobots. The cybertronian version of MECH too makes sense as the ‘Decepticons’ of this switched universe, probably being Shockwave wannabes and dissecting human cadavers or vivisecting live subjects in the pursuit of alien interests; stereotypical alien behaviour according to Earth media. Heck, robo Fowler and mecha Silas can have PERSONAL beef or at least a history of knowing each other to the point that the Autobots are warned of a more insidious alien curiousity.
But the kids being on Earth is like… harder? Aside from explaining why they’re on a completely different planet (if it even IS based on Earth) you also gotta consider the gimmick that these kids get themselves into danger mostly thanks to the headstrong enthusiast and overeager Miko dragging the others along, and idk about you but if I saw a giant robot kid come across a fresh battlefield and say anything remotely positive about it, I’d probably just give up and turn the other direction.

it's so annoying to me that ppl misuse the term "dropshipping." Dropshipping is when someone finds a listing off like aliexpress or amazon for cheap and then list it on, like, ebay or etsy, but they're not handling the product at all, they're placing an order on their source site and putting in your shipping info, which you gave them when you placed the order elsewhere
if someone orders in bulk off aliexpress and then repackages it themselves to ship to you, they're not dropshipping. you might consider it reselling, but it's not dropshipping.

“We reserve the right to remove any other content that violates the spirit of these rules”
I know that kind of clause is basically always included in contracts/legalese, but DAMN does that give a lot of wiggle room.
I hate seeing yet another thing with such potential to support artists and craftspeople feed off them until a credit card company frowns at them.
etsy just put out a sitewide ban on anything with nudity beyond breasts (and if it shows those it has to be "artistic"), most sex toys, etc. so if youre a seller of those items heads up, and if youre a prospective buyer go ahead and buy that stuff while you can. :(
the ban also applies to gory art, art with swears, and some kinds of taxidermy
