I think Hatchet Town does a great narrative job - besides just slapping - because it has very similar vibes to Feast or Famine even tho they don't sound alike but does the job of two songs:

Feast or Famine is by itself great but the fact it is only one song after What Do You Say does help to add the vibes. We just saw this people gossip at the line, acting like a real small comunity where everyone sorta knows each other and now they are just destroying each other for a toy! This adds a lot to the mob mentality of Black Friday, the way consumerism is driving us apart, how quickly this small comunity turns against each other.

Capitalism apart Hatchet Town has all that. We see how clearly this people know each other and their habits as they get ready to point fingers at their neighboors at the first problem. Someone doesn't belong suddently and they will find who and destroy them. It's just such a good mob mentality song that shows how Hatchetfield, like a lot of small cities, only pretends to be united (remember the whole Fuck Cliversdale/Go Nighthawks) and the LiB love to mock it.

Here's my idea to celebrate. I read a lot of fics and keep them in my favorite pages on Chrome so I don't bookmark them on AO3 because I didn't have any AO3 account at the beginning and then I kept doing it like this.

Anyway, I used my own system to classify them. Soooo I was thinking of making a post with fic recs of my favorite fics for you. What do you say?

My fanfic tastes usually are: canon fic, first kiss, fluff, angst, and smut too. I read other types of course like established relationship sometimes.

what's the secular version of "I'll pray for you", like, "I'll keep you in my thoughts"? that feels kind of silly and pointless, like, if someone believes that prayer has consequences, they are indicating that they will take actual action that they believe will help. thinking about it is not the same

anyway mostly looking to convey actually being invested in someone's outcome beyond saying "good luck" which I guess that works for? don't like it though it doesn't feel. me

Song Review: Sierra Hull - “What Do You Say?” (Live, June 15, 2024)

Playing fast is one thing. Playing fast and tight is another. And that’s precisely what Sierra Hull and her band did on “What Do You Say?” as captured on professional video June 15 in Vermont.

High-test bluegrass with drums, the song finds guitarist Shaun Richardson, mandolinist Hull and fiddler Avery Merritt reeling off lighting-fast solos and singing with as much precision on the chorus:

You can let me go/you can walk away/leave right now or you can stay/what do you say?

“Smokin’!,” someone in the audience yelled when it ended.

That someone was spot-on.

What do you say?

When you pray, what do you say?

If it’s time to say the Our Father, the Lord’s Prayer, we’re good. We’ve got that one down.

But what if they ask you to say grace at Thanksgiving or some big family dinner? With a bunch of random relatives and extra people around?

If that gets dropped on you with no warning? It can feel like every eye is on you. Like you’re going to be judged for what you say.

No pressure.

Of course, the reality is that no one is going to hold up a card with a number on it. Scoring your prayer. Giving you a “3” because it was pathetic.

But when you’re in the moment, it can feel just like that.

When someone asks you to pray for them, if they’re not asking you to lead a public prayer, that takes the pressure off. But the question is still there.

When you pray for them, what do you say?

I bring this up, because in Sunday’s homily, Fr. George asked us to pray for our children and grandchildren. When you do, what are you going to say?

If you know what you’re going to say to God, that’s great. But if you’re not sure, may I suggest praying Colossians 1:9-13?

“We have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him: 

Bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; 

Giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.” 

Take Fr. George’s invitation to pray for them. Not just for children or grandchildren, but for anyone that you love and care about. Anyone that you want to support. Anyone that you want to grow closer to God.

When you do, keep that first part in there – “We have not ceased to pray for you.” Let it be a gentle reminder to keep praying for them.

And make it personal. Use their name in the prayer.

Be the instrument of grace that God has called you to be.
