The Red Guy

The devilish entity known only as The Red Guy is a mischievous demon who had taken an interest in bedeviling the unconventional sibship of Cow and Chicken. The Red Guy initially tried to damn Chicken’s immortal soul by coercing him into smoking cigarettes, yet the scheme was foiled by Cow’s intervention.

Angered over being thwarted, The Red Guy became increasingly obsessed with doing away with the pair. And yet, Cow and Chicken’s good luck and The Red Guy’s hubris has always led to his failure.

A devout nudist, The Red Guy is very proud of his Rubensesque figure and especially large posterior. This usually leads to Cow and Chicken being abel to see through his various disguises.

Actor Charlie Adler provides the voice for The Red Guy. The villain initially appeared in the Cow and Chicken segment of the What A Cartoon! showcase; first airing on November 12th, 1995.

Not “Only my reading of canon is correct” or “Interpretations are subjective and all valid” but a secret third thing, “More than one interpretation can be valid but there’s a reason your English teacher had you cite quotes and examples in your papers, you have to have a strong argument that your interpretation is actually supported by the text or it is just wrong and I’m fine with telling you it’s wrong, actually.”

#now originally i drew this under the same kind of premise as the animatic i did #in that it Is in reality just a statue but is. subconsciously treated as alive and as it’s cartoon self? if that makes sense #but i was thinking abt what if polle Was alive. a toon put on the tulpar as a shitty morale boosting animal that Isn’t you friend #but i worry this would change too much abt the story. i wouldn’t want to add too much levity/fluff #mouthwashing #the art gallery #polle being a toon instead of a statue kinda cheapens it’s effect probably #like i think it worked In The Little Bit like in the animatic. but not through the whole game #plus also it’d probably really muddy his like. symbolism. of like thr company and the baby #so i do have a couple more doodles but (shrugs worriedly)

Blurr's Spotlight was actually the very first Transformers comic I ever read. I remember looking at the first pages and being like, holy shit, dude why are you so ugly?? Ahahjcmgmg

with the gravity falls renaissance i feel like something people don’t really discuss about its success is the fact that alex hirsch had a final say on the story. the reason gravity falls flows so well and had such a well-executed and satisfying ending is because its creator had control of when and where it ended. the reason so many modern day cartoons (and to an extent, shows in general) feel rushed or poorly executed or what have you is because their creators can’t do that. they’re canceled too soon and made to scramble to finish their stories in the remaining limited time they’re given, if they’re even given that opportunity at all. gravity falls isn’t necessarily timeless or one of a kind because of some creative magic, it is those things largely because it cannot be physically recreated due to the modern industry’s disrespect of creators and the medium as a whole

#icarus speaks #idk i really dislike people bashing on more modern cartoons and shows #when so much of it is genuinely not the fault of the showrunners #like. we KNOW how heavily alex was censored. can you imagine what it’s like now #when creators literally have to sacrifice their life’s work for the opportunity to represent themselves in their shows
