A finales de los 80, Wendy James fue una de las presencias más provocativas en la escena pop del Reino Unido. La vanguardista frontwoman de la banda de new wave Transvision Vamp, aún se recuerda a través de esos éxitos chicle-punk, perfectamente enfocados al marketig del pop, como "I Want Your Love" o "Baby I Don't Care", mientras seguían el modelo típico de banda indie con rubia al frente al estilo de otras bandas contemporáneas como The Primitives o The Darling Buds. Cuando todavía tenía poco más de veinte años, la imagen de James, nacido en Londres, adornaba las paredes de un millón de habitaciones, pero después de sus dos mejores álbums, "Pop Art" (1988) y "Velveteen" (1989), su compañía discográfica se negó a lanzar su tercer álbum en Gran Bretaña. y se separaron a principios de 1992. Transvision Vamp burst onto the scene in 1988 with their debut album, "Pop Art".  With the "sexy wild child" Wendy James as the frontwoman and some exhilarating Pop Punk tracks they stormed the charts.  Like I have said numerous times in these blogs the late 80s leading into the 90s was a scarce time for music in my opinion.  The "Vamp" were one of those bands that lifted the mood, like a New Wave/Punk band I loved their music and was very disappointed they split up after their next album.  I remember seeing this band in '89 at Birmingham's NEC and it was a brilliant show.  On top form Wendy, looking fantastic proved she was not to be trifled with as some idiot shouted, "Wendy take your top off!".  I won't say what Wendy said as younger children may read this but let's just say this silly boy won't ever do that again!

Day 2 of 10. Transvision Vamp - Pop Art A classic album that I discovered for myself in my teens. My first dalliance into female fronted Pop-Punk. Wendy’s voice is so perfect for the songs. “I want your love” has rarely left my playlist & songs like “Revolution Baby” & their version of “Tell that girl to shut up” still rock 30 years later.
