Sports Themed BL Dramas
In honor of the Olympics, I saw someone make a sports themed Anime rec list and decided I could do that for my fellow QL watchers out there (I promise I'm not using QL and BL interchangeably).
The Rebound (Thailand)
Freshly completed. The Rebound is a basketball centered series. Ryu and Zen are both basketball all-stars and used to be each other's rocks on the court in middle school. Fast forward to high school and Zen is trying to put together a new team under a new coach and Ryu is somewhere in the streets playing illegal and highstakes street basketball. Watch Zen re-recruit Ryu back onto the team and back into his life while they both deal with homelife struggles, keeping the basketball team afloat, Ryu's mafia ties, and love rivals.
You're My Sky (Thailand)
This is a multi-sports BL with 3 couples. Follow Fah and Torn as they reunite in college and join the same basketball team and work to repair the damaged relationship and also make their basketball dreams come true. Join freshman soccer star Saen as he juggles his sport and pursuit of his intellectual senior Aii and also taking time out of his day to give Torn love advice. And the last pair features two track stars Dome and Vee who struggle with their growing attraction to each other while Dome is actively dating Vee's sister Pan. This series is all about love and sports.
History 2: Crossing the Line (Taiwan)
This is a high school volleyball bl that focuses on retired player turned manager Qiu Zi Xuan and reluctant newcomer Hsia Yu Hao. Zi Xuan splits his time with training his team and teaching Yu Hao the essentials of the game so he'll be ready in time to compete. What happens when Yu Hao's annoyance for Zi Xuan fades and he begins to catch feelings for the school senior? And how will Zi Xuan deal with a sudden new love interest when his first love has always been volleyball...not to mention his baby sister has a huge crush on Yu Hao. There is a side pairing that features step brother who have an interesting history involving a kidnapping.
Between Us the Series (Thailand)
Okay so this series isn't technically sports-themed but there's a lot of sport in it. 3rd year uni student Win is VP of the swim team and the team has just recruited freshman Team. Win and Team are both very serious about their sport but Team does struggle because of some past swimming related trauma from his childhood. Win takes an immediate interest in Team so he gives him extra special attention outside of the team and soon they begin a sexual relationship (immediately actually). Team soon finds that being with Win helps him sleep peacefully at night so he begins to sleep over in his dorm. They both establish a bond but can't quite slap a label on with Win's commitment issues and Team's trauma. (There's more swimming in Between Us' parent drama Until We Meet Again). There are quite a few side pairing in this series.
Love By Chance (Thailand)
Again this series isn't sports themed but there's a lot of sport in it. This series follows uni freshman Ae and who has just joined the school's soccer team. He's an honest and simple guy who isn't afraid to speak his mind or stand his ground. He meets another freshman named Pete who opposite of him in personality, a quiet and shy guy who speaks politely to everyone. Ae feels the need to protect Pete because he finds Pete to be the delicate type and he doesn't want anyone to take advantage of Pete. Ae splits all his time between Pete and soccer. The second couple also follows another member of the soccer team named Can who gets into it with one of Pete's classmates named Tin. Tin and Can but heads every time they see each other but Tin's hatred for Can soon evolves into interest. Half of the cast in this series is on Ae and Can's soccer team so they spend a lot of time on the soccer field. The other two side pairs are there but I'm not gonna lie I skip them.
The Eighth Sense (South Korea)
This series follows freshman uni student Kim Jihyun who joins the school surfing club because he's looking to branch out but really because he met a cute guy named Seo Jaewon at his job and discovered he was in the surfing club. This series follows Jaewon and Jihyun through club surfing escapades and their instant and growing interest in each other. Jaewon's traumatic past does weigh heavy on his life and he allows the people around him to take advantage of him but Jihyun is there as a beacon of light for him, leading him out of the darkness and into a bright future together for both of them.
Honorable Mentions and one Dishonorable Mention to:
Pit Babe the Series (Thailand). which is a series centered around racecar drivers in an omega universe but I don't think that's an Olympic sport. PB is still very much a sports-themed series but there's also a lot of like...kidnapping, murder, mind control, and apparent mpreg going on in that series. The main pairing is alpha for alpha! Def a great watch.
Love Mechanics (Thailand). Features two swimmers as the mains but their plot is mostly about cheating and lying more than anything else. Sure there's swimming but it's not like that important to the series. Mark has a crush on his senior but that senior already likes someone else and Vee swoops in and sleeps with Mark and then they begin a side romance while Vee refuses to break up with his girlfriend even though she's cheating on him and he knows it. He's got quite a few hang ups and Mark just can't seem to leave that man alone. It's not my favorite series but it's not a bad series, it's quite good and YinWar are amazing but I just wanted to fight Vee more than anything else lol.
Waterboyy the Series (Thailand). This series is very much sports themed and follows two university swimmers on a swim team but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. Waii is the swim team's all-star and Apo is a newcomer on the scene who seems to be the only one who matches Waii. Unfortunately Waii is very much an asshole to everyone and he and Apo are quite dysfunctional. Also there's a sideplot where a canon lesbian character "realizes she's straight" typa vibe and also Waii's father gets into a realtionship with Waii's old best friend (it's very weird). The overall tone of the series is not a vibe but hey if you're interested in seeing New Thitipoom and Earth Pirapat as a ship then go for it.

I watched every GMMTV BL series (so far) in four months for science or whatever
I had never seen a single GMMTV drama before 2024 and now I know the ages of all the actors. So I'm doing great.
I'm gonna talk at you about some shows for a while, starting with 2016/2017.
2018 2019 2020
Senior Secret Love: Puppy Honey* - 2016
*Not technically a BL, but I included it because it got an episode of Our Skyy.
Fourth year veterinary students, Porsche (Kang Korn Sirisorn) and Pick (Off Jumpol) belong to an animal rescue club that is at risk of termination. In order to save it, they hatch a plan to convince the dean’s niece, Emma (Cherreen Nachjaree), to join their club. The only problem is that Emma is deathly afraid of dogs. Pick enlists the help of Emma’s best friend Rome (Gun Atthaphan) to change her mind.
This series was boring, but at least it’s only six episodes. Porsche and Emma are fine together, although the climax of their story is a tad melodramatic and the drama is pretty avoidable. Pick and Rome’s relationship doesn’t develop much. Their dynamic is basically: Pick picks on Rome and Rome likes it. They do have the most ridiculous water fight scene I’ve ever seen in my life, so there's that.
How to flirt.
SOTUS - 2016
All first year engineering students are subjected to the SOTUS system before they can be recognized by their faculty seniors. First year student Kongpob (Singto Prachaya) challenges the hazing team’s methods, making him the target of third year hazing leader Arthit (Krist Perawat). Through their repeated encounters, the two start to understand each other better.
I guess this is worth watching for the lore or whatever, but seriously, this series was so over-hyped. They’re very sweet once they get together, but I thought Kongpob chased Arthit for too long. Whenever a romance starts off very one-sided like this one did, I always wish the pursuer would just back off. As for the hazing plot, there were clearly cultural differences that factored into my enjoyment of the series. College hazing is illegal where I live, so I wasn't sold on the "there are good intentions on both sides" narrative.
The lore.
Senior Secret Love: Puppy Honey 2* - 2017
*Still not technically a BL
A continuation of Puppy Honey. Porsche (Kang Korn Sirisorn) has taken an internship in the countryside, leaving Emma (Cherreen Nachjaree) feeling neglected. She finds comfort in her brother’s childhood friend Night (Krist Parawat), while Porsche finds companionship with Friend (Namtan Tipnaree). Meanwhile, Rome (Gun Attaphan) knows that Pick (Off Jumpol) has feelings for him, but Pick is in denial, until their former club member Din (Sing Harit) steps in as a love rival.
This series was a chore to get through**. I thought Emma was really selfish for guilt-tripping Porsche about taking the internship, but Porsche is treated like the selfish one for taking the internship. I ended up watching most of their scenes in x1.5 speed. Pick and Rome’s story was cute, although Pick is a dick throughout most of it and a lot of his bad behavior is never addressed or blamed on other characters. Emma and Rome’s friendship, which gave the first season a lot of its charm, was practically non-existent, which was disappointing. Also, the title sequence is absurdly long. Did no one tell them they don’t have to use the whole song?
**No one was making me watch this, I did this to myself.
Emma's brother hiding inconspicuously behind a tree.
Water Boyy - 2017
Waii (Earth Pirapat) is the captain of his college’s swim club, but refuses to compete because of a strained relationship with his father, the coach. He is forced to share a dorm room with Apo (New Thitipoom), a new club member who is a longtime admirer of his father. Pan (Piglet Charada) makes fast enemies with their new club tutor, Fah (White Nawat), but tries to play nice with him when she discovers that her new crush, Namkhaeng (Ciize Rutricha) is his childhood friend. Min (Victor Chatchawit) transfers to the swim club from the track club after an injury and must prove his loyalty to his new teammates. But this proves difficult when he starts to develop feelings for Wan (Fon Sananthachat), a girl with a vendetta against the club.
Ho ly shit. All aboard the Hot Mess Express. If I had tried watching all of these shows in the order they aired, I probably would’ve quit after this one. This review is gonna contain some spoilers. And TW for sexual assault.
So Waii sexually assaults Apo in the fourth episode. It’s very blatantly assault and is never addressed, and they still fall in love. Also, Waii has a girlfriend who he just strings along for the entire series.
Waii had a falling out with his father after he got together with Waii’s former team member and best friend, and everyone tries to force him to forgive them and accept the relationship. Like, Waii is wrong for a lot of things, but not for that. It’s also shown that the affair negatively affected the whole team and caused them to waste school funding that should have gone to other clubs, but Waii is the selfish one for being mad about it. Am I supposed to agree with what they’re telling me or what I’m seeing?
Next, Pan is stated to be a lesbian in the first episode. She chases after a girl throughout the whole series, then ends up with a guy. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, because I’m not Thai and things get lost in translation. It felt like lesbian erasure nonetheless. And for what? For Fah? I could not tell you a single thing about Fah. Who's choosing him over Ciize? Smh.
Honestly, the show would have been better if they got rid of the three main pairs and just made it about the side characters Kluay and Achi.
Cannot be disproven.
My Dear Loser: Edge of 17* - 2017
*Not a BL, but included because it got an episode of Our Skyy.
Oh (Nanon Korapat) is tormented daily by a group of bullies led by Copper (Plustor Pronpiphat). The only thing that makes school bearable is Oh’s neighbor, Peach (Jane Ramida), who also happens to be Copper’s girlfriend. New student Sun (Chimon Wachirawit) becomes a new target for the bullies on his first day when he stands up for Oh. But when Copper’s friend In (Pluem Purim) has a falling out with the gang, he quickly grows close to Sun.
This series started out pretty rough. For the first couple episodes, Oh is just stiff walking and strained grimaces. Not to mention, he’s creepy. He does get better as he comes into his own, and I actually found myself rooting for him, especially after his breaking point when he fights back against Copper. The bullying that leads to said breaking point is pretty horrible to watch and the punishment is definitely not doled out fairly, so it really made me feel for Oh. The BL in this series is sparse. There’s a whole love triangle between Sun, In and their friend Ainam (who is the best character in this series) which didn’t feel completely resolved by the end. Both actors did a great job, but it still felt like a one-sided romance. Overall, I didn't hate the series, and even enjoyed it at times.
A true love triangle goes three ways, otherwise it's just a love V.
SOTUS S - 2017
A continuation of SOTUS.
Arthit (Krist Perawat) has graduated and has just been assigned a new position in his company. While he wants to support Kongpob (Singto Prachaya), who is now in his third year and the new leader of the now reformed SOTUS hazing team, the demands of his job start to take a toll on their relationship.
This was okay as a sequel. They brought back almost the entire cast, which is nice, but they kind of wasted them. I think it was a mistake to focus so heavily on the hazing team in the first few episodes, just to drop them entirely halfway through the series. Episode six felt too far into the series to introduce a new character and side pair. If they wanted to add another side pair, they could have just used one of Kongpob’s friends. Like Prae? Give Prae a girlfriend that we actually get to see for more than twelve seconds. I’m glad they gave Tew some focus, because I liked him in the first series, but the guy they paired him with was annoying. M and May were really cute in the first series, but now M is telling May not to wear shorts and to gain weight so other guys don’t look at her and it’s fucking weird. As for the main couple, a lot of their drama just stems from lack of communication on both parts, which is annoying, but I kinda liked the fallout from it. (But that’s just my mental illness speaking. I will sometimes return even to shows I didn’t like just to watch the penultimate episode breakup. It’s cathartic.)
OffGun fanservice.
I'm putting all of these series on a tier list. It will get better later. I promise I'm not always this negative.
Soulmate - The One. Like he was created for me, specifically. Sugar Daddy - He may not have it all, but he knows how to spoil me. Friend With Benefits - Despite my better judgment, I went and caught feelings. Second Lead - All my friends love him, but I don’t feel the spark. Overeager Pursuer - Tries to be cute but just gets on my nerves. Vindictive Ex - It’s like he’s punishing me for knowing I could do better. Love Rival - Literally what did I do to deserve this? -

Started Water boyy the series. Two episodes in and Waii has injured both of Apo's wrist. What a useless talent, lmao. Verdict so far cute.

It's wild that the whole global trend of gay-focused happy ending romance shows and movies has only been going on for *looks at calendar* a measly ten years!
Just ten years ago. 2014. That's when you get the discovery of a market for queer romance series and films with happy endings. That year the OG Love Sick in Thailand came out. Brazil puts out The Way He Looks, which deserves so much more credit than it receives for influencing the aeshtetics of the genre. Looking premieres on HBO, and although it had low ratings, it's an important touchstone. And, despite Nickelodeon’s censorship and shifting the program from tv to its website, the Legend of Korra confirms Korrasami in its season finale.
The next year, in 2015, we get Love Sick season 2, and China, pre-censorship laws has a few options: Happy Together (not the Wong Kar Wai one lol), Mr. X and I, and Falling In Love with a Rival. Canada, premieres Schitt's Creek. In the US, Steven Universe reveals Garnet as a romantic fusion between two female characters, and will proceed to just be so sapphic. Norwegian web series Skam premieres and sets up a gay protagonist for its third season, which will drop in 2016 and entirely change the global media landscape.
Then, 2016! This is the MOMENT. That aforementioned Skam season happens. Japan puts out the film version of Ossan's Love and anime series Yuri!!! on Ice. China has the impactful Addicted Heroine, which directly leads to increased censorship. The US has Moonlight come out and take home the Oscar. In Thailand, GMMTV enters the BL game and Thai BL explodes: Puppy Honey, SOTUS, Water Boyy, Make It Right, plus, the Thai Gay OK Bangkok, which, like its influence, Looking, is more in the queer tradition but introduces two dramatically important directors to the Thai BL industry, Aof and Jojo.
By 2017, Taiwan enters the game with its History series. Korea’s BL industry actually kicks off with Method and Long Time No See. Thailand’s got too many BLs to mention. Call Me By Your Name, though not a happy ending, makes a big splash that will send ripples through the whole genre, and God's Own Country offers a gruff counter-argument to problematic age differences and twink obsessions. This is also the year of Netflix reboot of One Day At a Time bringing some wlw to the screen, and the Disney Channel has a main character come out as ‘gay’ on Andi Mack ( I’m am ready to throw fists with anyone who thinks the Disney Channel aesthetic isn’t a part of current queer culture). And I'd be remiss not to mention the influential cult-following of chaotic web-series The Gay and Wondrous Life of Caleb Gallo: "Sometimes things that are expensive...are worse."
All this happened, and we hadn’t even gotten to Love, Simon, Elite, or ITSAY, yet.
Prior to all this there are some major precursors some of which signaled and primed a receptive market, others influenced the people who'd go on to create the QLs. Japan has a sputtering start in the 2010s with a few BL films (Takumi-Kun, Boys Love, and Jujoun Pure Heart). Most significantly in the American context, you have Glee, and its ending really makes way for the new era that can center gay young people in a world where queerness, due to easy access to digital information, is less novel to the characters. And the QL book and graphic novel landscape was way ahead of the television and film industries, directly creating many of the stories that the latter industries used.
There's plenty of the traditional queer media content (tragic melodramas and independent camp comedies) going on prior to and alongside QL, and there are some outlying queer romance films with happy endings that precede the era but feel very much akin to QL genre tropes and goals, many with a focus on postcolonial and multicultural perspectives (Saving Face, The Wedding Banquet, Big Eden, Maurice, My Beautiful Launderette, and Weekend). I don't mean to suggest that everything I’ve listed ought to be categorized as QL.
Rather, I want to point out how all of these new-era queer romance works are in a big queer global conversation together, in the creation of a new contemporary genre, a genre that has more capacity and thematic interest to include digital technology and normalize cross-cultural relationships than other genres (there's a reason fansubs and web platforms are so easily accepted and integrated to the proliferation of these series).
You're not too late to be part of the conversation. Imagine being alive in the 1960s and 70s and participating in the blossoming of the sci-fi genre. That flowering is where gay romance sits now. Join the party.
#just constantly gob-smacked to be alive right now#i know there's plenty of reason to be horrifically distressed about the condition of the world#queer history#thai bl#japanese bl#korean bl#chinese bl#skam

Think you know older Thai stuff? Well, do you know THESE?
Here's something different for a change. Do you know what series/movies/shorts these are from? Have fun guessing! I'll come back to edit the post with answers in a few days.
Okay, here are the answers!
i Stories: G (2018) - Part of an anthology of LGBT-themed short films sponsored by Honda Motorcycle. PP 's character is part of a group of gay friends who knew each other from being dumped by the same guy.
Love Songs Love Series: Small Boats Should Leave (2017) - A non-BL miniseries with a small side plot where Plustor 's character has a crush on his best friend, played by Captain.
Part Time (2016) - The series has a BL side played by Kimmon and Zo Wongsapat (not in other BLs).
Wun Rak Phon Phak Tang Tua 2 (2016) - Not a BL. This scene from the sitcom has Mean Phiravich and Nut (ntsuntorn, who was in Water Boyy) 's characters doing servicey things for their vlog to gain followers.
The School (2015) - Gameplay and Bombbam Kirati (also seen in What the Duck) play this series' BL side couple.
Love Smart (2015) - A short web miniseries featuring Tommy and Tape Worrachai (The Tuxedo).
The Underwear (2017) - One of the storylines in the series is Got Kanidsorn (Bar in Love Mechanics 2022) 's character secretly crushing on his straight best friend played by Tong Supanut (Lop in Unforgotten Night).
Love Lie Hide Fake (2018) - Job (Miracle of Teddy Bear) and Best Anavil (Till the World Ends) 's characters play a shipped couple acting in a series, though the show's actual BL pairing is Best with Pop Khamgasem.
Memory of Love (2016) - A student short film series featuring Benz Natthapong (EN of Love: This is Love Story) and Mo Weerasak Saenkuntawong (not in other stuff).
Sugar Café (2018) - A straight rom-com movie with Zee and Year Chotritud (who had small parts in The Effect, Our Days) as a tiny BL side pair.
Dangerous Boys (2014) - An action movie with an early BL side couple quite notably kissing on-screen, played by Oat Pasakorn (So Much In Love) and Tong Surawit (Tamtam in That's My Candy).
Love O-net (2014) - one of the early proto-BL TV dramas, featuring Tong Piroonwat (Prince in Fahlanruk) and Speck Phisitphong (Chama in the same series).
Lie (2016) - a student short film featuring Singto and Kanin Smuthkochorn (better known as an ice hockey player).
Please... Siang Riak Winyan (2017) - A horror series and not actually BL at all. Mark Siwat and Perth Tanapon play step brothers.
The Right Man: Because I Love You (2016) - one of three short films sponsored by gay dating app Blued, featuring War and Earthlee Ardivat Leeruangsri (hasn't done other acting work). Each had a certain holiday-associated theme. This one's was mother's day, and it's a cute story about War's character, who's reluctant to come out to his mom. There are a few brief sequences of the boys hooking up and dating, but they don't really show anything particularly naughty (the picture is only seen as a still insert). Sorry for the tease. 😆

This send me down a rabbit hole I (checked vimeo purchases and account creation dates) because my record keeping for the series I watched between 2014 and 2018 is a bit spotty.
And its probably Water Boyy The Series , which I watched because of Pete and Kao in Kiss: The Series and Kiss me Again I also watched Beloved Enemy and Gay OK Bangkok around the same time but that was probably a bit later in 2018 when I had discovered some asian fansub sites. Its possible that I watched Long Time No See before all of them but I cannot be sure because I have watched it several times since then.
i think the first ever bl every person watched should be publicly available information about everyone in the fandom. cause that will tell me more about you than any personal information or eventual tier rankings ever could.

Welcome to the GMMTV BL tournament! This is a fun and chill tournament to determine Tumblr's favourite GMMTV BL series.
The series were ranked using a combination of MDL ratings and number of watchers and the top 24 series were seeded into this bracket (meaning that Water Boyy, My Gear and Your Gown, and My Tee did not make it). Sequel series such as SOTUS S and Still 2gether are included with their original series but Our Skyy specials are omitted.
Link to Round 1 Polls
#gmmtv#thai bl#thai drama#bl drama#not a poll#i did manually fuss with the seeding a little bit but i can go into that in more depth if anyone actually cares

Hell-oh one and all to the Worst GMMTV Boy's Love Series Tournament*!
While it is always everyone's greatest wish to keep fandom a positive and wholesome experience, sometimes we just want to go ham and have a little toxicity in our lives… you know, as a treat! So that's where this Tournament comes in.
Starting next Monday, November 27th 2023, and over the course of the next ten weeks, we are going to have a series of polls to find out which is the most be-hated GMMTV Boy's Love Series. During the course of the tournament, it is allowed and even encouraged to get a little mean with it. Vote for the option you like the least, reblog the polls talking about how and why you hate the series you hate, leave asks to this blog to let me know, and feel free to engage in a little light-hearted ribbing - or even discourse! - in the replies to each round. Anything goes, the sky's the limit!
Unlike the original tournament, this is going to be a Double Elimination Tournament. That means that if a show you particularly hate has already been eliminated, fret not! because it will then be knocked down to the Losers' Bracket where it will keep competing with the other losers until it loses one last time or makes it all the way to the Ultimate Final for another chance to prove itself the worst in the business!
There are 24 shows in this tournament. The reason Water Boyy, My Gear and Your Gown, and My Tee ('Cause You're My Boy) were not included was that they're not liked enough and I didn't want to make it too easy. Also I haven't watched them so it wouldn't have been fun for me.
Now that we've gotten to know each other, stay posted for the beginning of the tournament and get ready to do your worst! I'll see you all very, very soon.
*no association with the original @gmmtv-bl-tournament. Be a little mean and have fun but don't go over the line. OP can take anything you dish but don't get too testy with others who might not appreciate the attitude.

IRL: Baan Bellawin, 219 1 Sukhumvit 4 Alley, Khlong Toei, Bangkok 10110, Thailand
This post would not be possible without all the input of @virtualtadpole, who found the name of the apartment complex and discussed locations with me!
There are actually two apartment blocks, which have been used in Thai qls.
Apartment block #1: This is the apartment block you probably are familiar, but the units used seem to be different based on details, such as the white box on the door, the colour of the balcony ledge, colour of the floor, etc. The shows identified are, A Boss and a Babe (and Our Skyy 2 x A Boss and a Babe), Boyband the Series, Not Me, Only Friends, Return Man, Star in My Mind, Water Boyy (I will still identify these as a shared location, since they appear to have been shot in the same apartment block.)
A Boss and a Babe (and Our Skyy 2 x A Boss and a Babe)
Boyband the Series
Not Me
Only Friends
Return Man
Star in My Mind
Waterboyy
Apartment block #2: Across from its more recognised sibling is a second block, which has been used less frequently. Shows identified are, Y-Destiny, 2gether

“Turn around.” You spun around in a circle.
“Raise your arms over your head.” You huffed and did as told. Mi’laa, your best friend circled you with a smirk. “Girl you’re pregnant.”
“No way you were able to figure that out from me spinning around.”
Mi’laa began hopping and squealing. “I'm gonna be an auntie!”
“Hush!” You snapped. “I need to be sure before I tell the father.”
“The father?”
Your eyes widened and you waved your hand. “Not telling you who it is. Let’s just go visit another village.”
“Why would we have to go to another village?”
“Do not question me.”
The two of you were granted clearance from work the next day and made way to a village far away. You didn’t want to visit another village on the land and risk rumors traveling clan to clan. Anxiety filled your stomach, being pregnant with Jake’s baby would not come as good news. And if you kept it, you were sure the two of you would be exiled immediately.
Days of traveling ensued and the two of you made it to the reef clan, where clan leaders Ronal and Tonowari resided. The clan saw you as a threat at first, but seeing their two leaders approach made them calm down.
“Why do you come to us?” Tonowari asked.
“I need…help.” You looked around, not wanting to disclose your issue of possible pregnancy. “Tsahik help.” You clarified. Tonowari looked at Ronal, and Ronal looked you up and down. She tilted her head up and nodded, before waving the two of you to follow her.
“I already know what your problem is.” She said once the three of you entered the enclosed pod. “We just have to be sure.”
Your breath hitched, how the hell could others just “tell” you were pregnant. Ronal had you lie flat on your back and began running her hands along your torso. She took a needle and pricked your skin, dropping the blood into a bowl full of water.
Moments of silence passed before she sighed. “You are indeed pregnant.”
You smiled shortly and looked at Mi’laa who grabbed your hand and smiled brightly.
“Now tell me, who is the father?”
You sat up and shook your head. “That's none of your business.”
“You came on a long journey for me to simply confirm what you already knew. You didn’t go to your own Tsahik. Why?”
You bit the insides of your cheeks and looked over at Mi’laa.
“Jake Sully.”
---
You walked into your home and dropped off your bag, sighing after the long journey home. Walking in the dark, you made your way to the kitchen, and grabbed a piece of leftover saltfish which you had been demolishing daily for a few months now.
“I missed you last week.”
You jolted and turned around, seeing Jake sitting in one of your chairs staring at you.
“Have you just been sitting in the dark waiting for me?” You said with your mouth full.
“Every night for a week and a half. Where were you?” He tilted his head.
You walked past him to get to your satchel but as you did so he stood and grabbed you, pulling you in by your waist. “Jake.”
“Where were you?”
“Let me show you.” You pulled away from him and crouched down, pulling a bundled up paper from your bag. You turned to him and unraveled the paper, showing him the Metkayina necklaces given to you. Jake's eyes brightened and he snatched you up, picking you up and spinning you around.
“What I tell you girl. I got some strong swimmers.”
“Don’t ever use the term swimmers again.” You grimaced.
Jake put you down and grabbed one of the necklaces, wrapping it around his neck and layering it amongst his other necklaces. “Got what you wanted.” He placed a kiss on your cheek. “Told you all you had to do was ask.” He smiled.
You looked down at his necklace, slightly frowning. “You can’t wear that.”
“Why not? I'm gonna be a father I should be able to-”
“You know why.”
Jake sighed, and grabbed your necklace from your hands. He placed the necklace over your head to rest on your neck. “I’m not ashamed of us. I’m not gonna hide you or my child from the world.”
“Jake, you don’t understand how dangerous this is for me!” You snapped.
Jake grabbed the back of your head and neck, pulling you closer to him. “I won’t let anything happen to the two of you. You forget that I was a corporal before all of this. I am Toruk Makto, whoever wishes to challenge me will lose.”
“Your wife.”
Jake sighed, “In my mind you are my wife.”
“Jake!” You half scolded. “I, your mistress, is pregnant with your, the clan leader's child. Less than a year after the birth of Neteyam, your first son. If you reveal this, I and your child could-...will be killed, and you may be overthrown as Olo’eyktan.”
Jake smiled and pulled you in for a kiss, licking your bottom lip in the process. “I love how punctual you get when you’re stressed.” He smiled. “Baby, I’ve been planning the push of the panic button since the day I met you. I have connections, I have resources. Trust me if it comes to ditching this place we will be just fine.” You smiled softly and nodded, knowing that you were in great hands. Jake still had human connections, and great na’vi connections even without the title of Toruk Makto.
“All you need to worry about is staying healthy and taking care of our child.”
---
The two of you had agreed to make the announcement the next week, after you had the time to process that there was indeed a child growing inside of you. You’d confiscated Jake’s necklace and only allowed him to wear it when he was around you.
Mi’laa had moved in, preparing your home and you for the possible fallout that would ensue after the announcement. Jake was so giddy and proud that you were pregnant, maybe even more than he was when Neytiri was carrying. That worried the two of you because although the enthusiasm was nice, he was still readying to celebrate the pregnancy of his MISTRESS that no one knew about.
“Let's go mama.” Mi’laa grabbed your hand and walked through the crowd of na’vi that encircled the main area of Hometree. You took in a deep breath, clutching the necklace Ronal had made you. Jake had taken his last night, and you were sure he was going to wear it. Mi’laa checked her pockets, which was filled with knives and trinkets designed for a grand escape.
Many people began shushing one another, notifying everyone that the Olo’eyktan was coming. You looked over and saw Neytiri and Mo’at, standing tall but confused at the sudden call of the council. Cheering began and you finally saw Jake walking up, wearing a head dress and smiling brightly. Your eyes trailed to his neck where you didn’t see the necklace with his other ones.
“As you may know, I have recently welcomed a new life into mine not too long ago.” He started. “And as we all should know, the sins of a father should not fall on his child.” His eyes averted to you, and you nodded, giving him the green light to continue. “I ask you all to refrain from violent urges, and free yourselves from the temptation of gossip.” He nodded around and glared at the crowd.
He dug in his side and raised the necklace, displaying it to everyone. “I would like to announce that I have a child on the way.”
Everyone began cheering, but Neytiri’s face dropped. You could see her body tense and her mother placing her hands on her shoulders. “And it is not carried by my wife.”
The crowd gasped and you watched as Neytiri fell backwards, many rushing over and tending to the fallen leader. You looked at Jake with frantic eyes. He nodded and mouthed ‘go’. Mi’laa and you began pushing through the shocked crowd, hearing all sorts of distasteful comments.
“Hey!” Someone shouted. “Your necklace!” They exclaimed.
You gripped the necklace and looked at Mi’laa. More na’vi turned towards you and pointed. “That's the mother! That’s the mistress!”
Mi’laa yanked your arm forward and pushed more aggressively through the crowd. The na’vi exclaimed at the revelation and began crowding the two of you. Everyone formed a circle around you two making it near impossible to escape.
You stopped in your tracks, holding your best friend behind. The crowd began to fall silent, seeing your determined face and stance. A pathway began to form and forward came Mo’at, who had an anguished look on her face. “Who do you think you are!”
You smiled wickedly, and looked her in the eyes. “I am Y/n. I am Jake's mistress, and I am carrying his second child.”
Mo’at gasped, not expecting the cocky nature of your revelation. In the background, Jake stood smiling, proud that you had finally told everyone who you belonged to.
