Games Workshop Pre-Order Preview: Cursed City's Expansions return with a limited Made to Order #warhammercommunity
It’s a fairly quiet week coming up for Games Workshop‘s pre-orders. For those that missed them, there’s a new opportunity to get Warhammer Quest: Cursed City‘s expansions. Nightwars and Nemesis are going to be made to order for a limited time. Between the 17th and the 27th of December only. There’s no limit on how many are available. To play Nemesis you’ll require a copy of Nightwars, but not…

Mini Painting - Qulathis the Exile
A friend of mine got Cursed City and asked us if we’d like to paint our characters. Having used Amallyn Shadowguide in Blackstone Fortress, and still having my Wood Elf army book from back when Old Kingdom was just “Warhammer”, I jumped at the chance to pick the Wood Elf adjacent Qulathis the Exile.

Probably the model I am the happiest with so far. Or at least the best face I have ever painted. Really really happy with the result of this random mini I had in my closet. :D

Cursed City: The Vargskyr
With the DRG base game done, and the expansions (and 50 more miniatures) not coming until October, I'm in between projects. I have the Warhammer Quest: Cursed City box, and this mini is the first I've assembled, out of 50 for the whole game. But I haven't had as much luck finding people to play WQ with (I finished the whole Silver Tower box, and I've only managed to play the first mission, twice with different groups.) My motivation for painting is so much stronger when I actually get to play the game... In the lore of the game, the Vargskyr is a vampire that has degenerated into a beast, with wolf and bat characteristics. This was a fairly quick slapchop job, that I finished before I started Kixi-taka, but just didn't get decent around to taking decent photos of until now.

November 17 – Choose Your Own Swyn AU
Saving Who You're Nearest -- A Dungeons and Dragons AU
Are you tired of just regular old roleplaying? Would you rather jump into the exciting world of tabletop roleplaying games? Join our Dungeon Master in a high-fantasy epic where you can bring your character to life like never before! Our adventure begins in the kingdom of Swynlake, a land full of heroes and monsters, hope and oblivion, triumph and ruin. The local guild is hiring mercenaries to take on a myriad of quests--exploring the remains of a slayed dragon's lair, infiltrating the masquerade of a high-end government official, confronting the cult of a dark god, and uncovering the mystery of what exactly is slumbering below the ruins of an ancient fallen city. Build your character according to the rules of Dungeons and Dragons: 5th Edition. We will be starting at level 3, and any compounding materials (Eberron's/Xanathar's/etc) are allowed. Even open to homebrew, but make sure to run it by the DM first! We'll be meeting on Discord, and playing combat on roll20. Pick out your favorite pair of dice and let's roll!
Angel the Half-Elf Path of the Beast Barbarian
Stats: Strength 16 (+3) || Dexterity 12 (+1) || Constitution 16 (+3) || Intelligence 8 (-1) || Wisdom 14 (+2) || Charisma 11 (0)
Proficiencies: Athletics, Stealth, Perception, Deception
Backstory: For reasons unknown even to her, Angel was abandoned as a child, given to the city orphanage. She grew up resentful of her life and eventually ran away to become a street urchin. There, Angel learned how to survive and to channel her negative emotions into something more effective. She learned how to take care of herself, and fight back against anyone who would do her harm.
That's when the changes started to happen. It began with her teeth becoming sharper as she grit them facing off a thief. Then, her nails growing as she pried a drunk man's hand off of her arm. When she grew a tail, that's when she knew she had a problem.
While not afflicted with the true curse of lycanthropy, it seemed that Angel had inherited some distilled version of it, giving her the ability to take on a bestial form, fueled by her rage. Thus began her journey to find out more about where she came from, and how her condition came to be. She joins the local guild, looking for coin and information.
Fighting Style: Surprisingly, fighting is not Angel's go-to. If she can, she would rather sneak or talk her way out of an encounter than go in guns-blazing. However, when the fight comes to her, she is a tank. She most prefers using her natural weapons (bite, claws, tail whip), but is also pretty handy with a warhammer. With hard hits and a high constitution, Angel can be found on the front lines, taking hits and dealing them back. She's not necessarily a team player, and has a hard time paying attention to anything else going on in an encounter. Still, if you need a damage sponge and hard-hitter, Angel's the one you want in your party.

Warhammer Quest: Cursed City is an absolute trove for Ravenloft minis!
Sometime, I'll have to post the collection I assembled over my COS and following homebrew Ravenloft campaigns.
Haven't played D&D in a while but I might have something cooking

Ever heard the stories of the Kosargi? Undead Ogors lead by an Ogor Vampire, ruling the cursed city of Ulfenkarn...
“Ulfenkarn, you say? By the Goddess, sounds like even better reasons to not visit Shyish. Half the time when you stab something it doesn’t even bleed - where’s the fun in that?! Still... maybe I’ll send one of Shadeborne’s lot over to investigate.” (For real though I’m super hyped for Cursed City.)

The Prince
28cmx35cm (11x14) - Ink on Paper
Lately I’ve been kind of obsessed with the art of Eric Orchard ( @Inkybat ) I LOVE the miles and miles of hatching that creates both dynamic texture and value in his drawings. It’s just gorgeous stuff. It kind of reminds me of what I was trying to do in some of the early minicomics I did in the mid 90s (except, y’know far more practiced and way better executed and… with COLOUR!) It’s got me thinking I should have a go at doing that again…
The picture kind of just popped into my head last night and I thought about staying up stupid late and just doing it then and there… but it was already FAR TOO LATE and despite worrying I’d COMPLETELY FORGET the idea, I woke with it still in mind, and so that’s what I’ve been doing all day… The image in my head shifted to something very plain to something inspired by Vladimir Giurescu (from Hellboy) to something more like the denizens of Ulfenkarn from Warhammer Quest: Cursed City when if finally ended up on paper.
(which reminds me… I should FINISH PAINTING THOSE miniatures and actually get around to PLAYING THE GAME!?!?)
I had fun with this. I don’t HATE it, I may play around with this some more…
I'd like to do character and NPC portraits like this... If I ever got around to playing Role-Playing Games again...

Warhammer Quest Takes Us to the Cursed City
Warhammer Quest Takes Us to the Cursed City #WarhammerQuest #MiniatureGames
Warhammer Quest is back with Warhammer Quest: Cursed City. The new game brings more bloodsuckers to the Mortal Realms and takes us to the cursed city of Ulfenkarn. The game features a revised and refined rules system building off of the previous Warhammer Quest releases, “Silver Tower” and “Blackstone Fortress.” During their recent online preview, Games Workshop revealed the vampire hunter…

I had high hopes for Warhammer Quest Cursed City and I can safely say it does not disappoint!
The models look incredible and the amount of detail on them is just mind blowing. The cards, counters and game tiles are beautiful, and the rulebook and quest book look to be packed with great information.
Even the box itself is a work of art!
I really can’t wait to get stuck into this game and build up those awesome minis.
Finally, the little decorative Key to Ulfenkarn was a very nice touch from GW. Very cool.
Happy Hobbying
Dave

Me and the gang are getting together for some Cursed City tomorrow! Haven’t played it since it came out, and really regret that. Warhammer Quest is always a blast.
