How to count people in Japanese
1 person : 一人(ひとり/hitori) ×いちにん
2 people : 二人(ふたり/futari) ×ににん
3 people : 三人(さんにん/san-nin)
4 people : 四人(よにん/yo-nin) ×よんにん、しにん(Never read as “しにん”, as it means 死人: dead person)
5 people : 五人(ごにん/go-nin)
6 people : 六人(ろくにん/roku-nin)
7 people : 七人(ななにん/nana-nin or しちにん/shichi-nin)
8 people : 八人(はちにん/hachi-nin)
9 people : 九人(きゅうにん/kyu-nin or くにん/ku-nin)

There is one more way of counting, with “名(mei)”.
For example, when you enter a restaurant for dinner, the waiter will ask, “何名様ですか?(Nan-mei-sama desuka?)” which means “How many people are there?”
The difference between “人(nin)” and “名(mei)” is that “人(nin)” is just for counting, and “名(mei)” is used for groups or organizations whose members are identifiable, such as number of attendants of the meeting, number of guests reserved at the hotel, number of guests at the wedding, and so on.
In case of “名(mei)”, reading way of counting is simply number + 名(mei).
1 person : 一名(いちめい/ichi-mei)
2 people : 二名(にめい/ni-mei)
3 people : 三名(さんめい/san-mei)
4 people : 四名(よんめい/yon-mei) ×しめい
5 people : 五名(ごめい/go-mei)
6 people : 六名(ろくめい/roku-mei)
7 people : 七名(ななめい/nana-mei) 〇しちめい/shichi-mei(It’s right but confusing with いちめい/ichi-mei)
8 people : 八名(はちめい/hachi-mei)
9 people : 九名(きゅうめい/kyu-mei) ×くめい
10 people : 十名(じゅうめい/ju-mei)

(The last digit of any number beyond that is the same as above.)
If you feel it hard, you can use just “人(nin)” anytime. It’s enough if you can understand “名(mei)” when you hear it.

妓女が無事なら、男は酒を口にする。しかし、実際に毒の酒を飲めば、女も無事では済まない。そこで道具を使った。酒は2種類、器は1つ。酒は、中身が違えば、濃さや重さが違う。重い酒の上に、軽い酒をゆっくり注げば、層ができて、見た目が良い。客を喜ばせる小ネタとして使えば…怪しまれることなく、妓女は下の層だけを麦稈で飲んでみせた。妓女も、上澄みの酒を飲んだ。死なないように、少しの量を。自分も死んでしまえば、元も子もない。男が死に、自分が生き残る計算を考えた上で、朝方に事を起こしたのだろう。そして都合よく、それを発見する人間がいた。儚げだが、それでいてしたたかだ。)

About
Russell is the Bookkeeper for The Jade Owls and the Librarian of the Falaina’s Library. Thrown into things beyond his control, he is captured by The Jithran Guards and put into a prison ship alongside his honorary sister, Zia, and his teacher, Derrick. When it is discovered that he has the power of Ergokinesis, he becomes a subject of interest of The Jithran Senate and Enalla Congress who intend to study him, in a lethal way. Another Ergokinetic user, Ash, an Opar-Han con-artist who he had literally bumped into, decides to rescue him. In the confusion, Russell, Zia, and Derrick are whisked away back onto the prison ship along with several criminals who orchestrated a jail break and stole the ship for their own. Now wanted for Barratry and for being an Ergokinetic User, Russell is now a member of The Jade Owls, a rag-tag gang of wanted criminal mercenaries who travel Otacaia by ocean and air, looking for missions and actively avoiding the authorities. He is currently in a relationship with Ash.
Personality
Russell is an intelligent and disciplined man with a strong-willed, blunt, and fiery side to him. He is very passionate about topics people wouldn’t normally find interesting and is keen on talking about these things to anyone who’d listen. He is a very creative, caring, moral, and kind soul who really dislikes it when people try to enforce their views on him and he can become confrontational when he feels he is pushed to his limits. He doesn’t take any nonsense from anyone; he doesn’t have time for that.

He speaks with a strong Saskatchewan Accent.
He is Autistic and proud of it. He rarely has meltdowns and shutdowns but when they do, they can go into full blown panic attacks, and he can’t control his Ergokinesis when this happens. When this happens, he recites poetry to calm down.

At first Russell was an Anglican, then he converted to Lutheranism, and then Greek Orthodox. Now he is an Agnostic with a strong interest in Hellenism.

i just discovered 2 things ab my fav japanese rock band, plastic tree:
they're active for 30 YEARS NOW (i totally forgot they existed since 1993)
the wareta mado pv / music video is gone from youtube and i can only find a tiny snippet on twitter :(((( this is part of why i dont stan these bands anymore, the japanese music market is so inaccessible for the rest

Lmao. I'm not even sure why I'm posting this translation - official subs are actually available on the Subtitle video on YouTube. Maybe because I got a lot more confused with the translation? There were some things in the translation that didn't make sense to me, so I tried to break it down for myself. Also I wanted to practice (as usual) my reading, as well as my (very rusty) translating skills, so yeah, I guess this is my answer why I'm posting this here HAHA.
IDK if this will really help in better understanding the message of the song, but hopefully it does make you appreciate the song more. I tried to put more context on the translation - I was trying to translate it with the context of the drama silent in my mind.

*OK this is a little confusing HAHA but I hope this will help in understanding the line. So the previous line was talking in extremes (so much positivity it's almost like it burns; the coldness & harshness) which can cause discomfort in the long run, thus this line kinda says that the speaker wants to give something in between - the literal translation of hinyari atsui mono is a cooler hot object = warm, which is more comfortable for someone.
**the literal translation for "hikarete shimatta kaaten" is "a curtain completely pulled back". This phrase didn't make much sense to me so I tried looking if there is an idiom that would probably explain this, and there actually is! So we can actually interpret this two ways - pulling a curtain open - so you show what's on the other side of the curtain, or you pull a curtain close - like you're hiding the things on the other side. But following the previous line, I felt like it was trying to convey that the speaker and the one being spoken to were trying to bridge the gap between them by being honest to each other, therefore pulling the curtains open so they both see what the other party really feels.
