Of all the many things I loved about the Waitress proshot/movie, I gotta say I was probably most excited about “What baking can do” (since we don't have a proper Sara recording of it) and BOY did it deliver. I’m speechless. It was somehow even better than I expected (and I expected a lot)

Waitress the musical being a story about love. Being in love. Platonic love. Romantic love. Familial love (both blood and chosen). being able to create connections with your regular customers at work. finding love through an dating profile. finding your mothers love through baking. finding your friends love through makeup and hair days. finding romantic love in quiet moments in a hug. finding love for yourself in making the scary life changing choices.

After four years of waiting (getting the original tickets as a Christmas Eve gift, a complete shutdown of the theater industry, and the most frustration pre-show cancellation), I finally saw Waitress!

And it was worth the wait!

i wasn't expecting When He Sees Me to be from Waitress, i have been listening to that chorus for so long it legit got whiplash so hard it almost broke my neck when it came out, any way

also i want to clarify, i don't hate the waitress musical or its pro-shot! i had a great time watching it, the musical is impactful and made me cry multiple times.

but the blatant ableism was disappointing and left a very bad taste in my mouth. the fact that it was in the original musical and no one seemed to bat an eye?? the fact that the lines have carried over into the 2024 movie and no one is talking about it?

it's all just very disheartening and disappointing, but if the pandemic taught me ANYTHING it's that the majority of society doesn't rlly give a shit about disabled people, unfortunately

can i say something? it's abso-fucking-lutely insane that it's 2024 and the newly released pro-shot of waitress still has the same ableist jokes from the show

its not ok. its not ok to describe disabled people as "drooling invalids" and make us the butt of the joke. i thought at least some of this shit got left in the 2010s, but i guess not. jesus christ

from the new ones i'd really love to see the notebook cause i've heard a lot of good things about it & i also love the movie so i bet the musical must be really good

watching the waitress pro shot in a theater of mostly middle aged and elderly people was a delight fyi they were audibly having such a good time it made me happy 😊
