She started from absolutely nothing. Not the slightest clue about idols or celebs or the entertainment industry or anything. She wanted to grow stronger so that she could protect the people she loves and cares for. And she works soooooo hard for it. All in the background, all in the shadows, she puts in whatever effort she can so that everything runs smoothly and so that everyone can be happy.

And she succeeds! Time and time again, every live she plans and budgets for is very successful. The idols she nurtured all this time are getting happier. Most of the time she doesn't even understand why she gets praised so much (because low self-esteem) and still thinks it's not enough, it's never enough. But never did her doubts even stop her from showing up everytime for her idols.

And she ends up building a strong reputation as a very capable producer. This should be a good thing but it isn't. Now she has a name in the industry, she can no longer just work in the shadows like before. If she puts in too much effort, she (and the idols she's producing for) might get punished for favoritism. So now she has to distance herself from the beloved idols she spent all this time making memories with and getting closer to and it's just aakdhfhsjajdhfhej

Like i think this is most obvious in her switch of "please call me by my name" to "please never call me by my name". In yumenosaki, she was a transfer student at first and most people called her tenkousei-chan. After a while this starts offending her because c'mon, she's been here a while, she has been through a lot with many of these people together and it's kinda distancing of the others to still call her by tenkousei instead of anzu. But in ES? She literally has to beg them to stop calling her by her name and start calling her "Producer" instead. She has to build this artificial distance between her and all the idols she loves so that ES doesn't hurt them. So that she can protect them.

It's such a dilemma, honestly. You want to grow stronger to protect the people you're close to. Once you're strong, you can't be close to them anymore.

I’ve started Arcane and finished Act 1. Talk about gripping and on the edge of your seat storytelling!

I am impressed with the way they utilise the characters. I love the way the character representation and development seamlessly intertwines with the main storyline and drives the narrative emotionally and thematically. I don’t quite understand everything that’s going on but that doesn’t matter - that will come with continuing and maybe even rewatching Act 1.

I have no words finishing episode 3 except by the gods that was powerful. Or maybe I should say “powderful”.

I did not expect that at all. So she’s turned on her sister then. Silco will condition and corrupt her in her rage and resentment because of what happened between him and his brother, Vander. Feeding the belly of the beast within. Constantly grooming and twisting her inside out until she becomes the monster that she wanted to defeat along with her heroine of a sister.

Wow. Now that’s a sister story worth telling. My guess is that Powder is going to fashion herself a whole new persona. One that derives from the derogatory nickname that she was given by Milo and Clanger and now Vi - which would have hurt the most, of course.

Jinx.

one big thing im so tired of seeing in this fuckass fandom is all the people saying shit like that. Her character was not nerfed or badly written in s2. it developed. as it shouldve. all those people saying that it was out of character for vi to join the enforcers and suddenly wanting to get jinx just didnt watch the show imo. jinx did a lot to vi in s1 and vi has EVERY right to feel resentment towards jinx for it. Me personally if my sister killed my whole family and then teamed up with the man who tried to kill our adoptive father I’d wanna beat her ass too. and saying that “vi chose cait over jinx!” is such a stupid thing to say to defend your dislike towards vi or caitvi. Powder chose jinx over vi when all vi wanted was her sister back and was willing to leave cait in s1 for that. She just didnt want jinx to shoot cait. that was all she wanted was her sister back and cait to not be killed in front if her face. but as i said powder chose jinx over vi so like c’mon yall.

also the caitvi haters pmo. Amanda has made statements which ARE CANNON BC SHE WROTE CAITVI BTW and yet caitvi haters are denying everything shes saying? Like sorry, just because you think “Vi deserved better and everything caitlyn did was awful and unforgivable and im now gonna compare this fictional character to a very awful man that existed in history and destroyed countless innocent lives that were real!” does not make it at all reasonable.

No, i do not think the things caitlyn did are okay. However, the acts she committed for one killed no one (deleted scenes arent cannon btw!) and as the writers have said, she used the gas only to target the chembarons and dismantle shimmer which was ACTIVELY MAKING ZAUN WORSE. even in her unhinged anger she still cared about taking down shimmer and silco’s goons despite actively wanting to hunt down jinx as well.

AND MIGHT I ADD ambessa was fuel for caitlyn’s fire. AMBESSA! wanted the violence. AMBESSA! did not care abt the innocent lives and AMBESSA wanted the war. not caitlyn. yall criticize everything caitlyn does while you are letting the things, silco, ambessa, jinx and other antagonists in the show had done slide. which is odd because i fear silco was the one causing harm to the under-city and using children for labour, and filling the streets with drugs, while also working with enforcers! so no, caitlyn is not perfect but no one in the show is. however caitlyn haters are somehow taking everything this woman does out of context and making it seem like she’s the worst character in the show.

(disclaimer no hate to ambessa. I personally love every character in the show except for viktor and silco. but i dont HATE them and im not gonna pretend like theyre terribly written characters and compare them to awful real people in history CAITLYN HATERS LOOKING AT YOUU!! 🥰🥰)

but for some reason vi, caitlyn, and caitvi haters just love to make up their own bs to defend their ass arguments and tell the writers of arcane that they’re wrong? about their own characters? and story plot and writing?

Anyway as I mentioned before we don't gatekeep art related stuff in this household, artists help other artists.

Honestly it's hard to name an inspo but I do have artists I look up to a lot (this might be a bit long)

Kanisuke, you guys might be familiar with her, she's the artist of the upcoming yandere inside game Yandere Town. I know it's not out yet but I'm actually obsessed with this game and have even translated all the character intros (they are a bit old atp so there might be some mistakes) and actually if you see a Yandere Town related post high chance it's from me. Not only her art but I love her writing style as well.

Hakuri-sensei, their manga Sachi iro no One Room is definitely one of my biggest inspirations. I love the relationship between Sachi and her "captor" and it's the only manga I actually cried my eyes out while reading.

Tayu-sensei, all of their work for Yuugen Romantica (one of my fav drama cd series) are breathtaking and they've also developed even more since then, their current works are just so stunning and I love studying the way they draw hair

Shirahama-sensei, she👏is👏a👏queen👏 honestly I don't have much to say, go read Witch Hat Atelier it's an artistic masterpiece and a giant love letter to art itself

Furumi-sensei, another queen! She's the artist of my favorite Fate Grand Order character Ashiya Douman. I've even bough her art books before, honestly she is just so talented. I don't know what she was drinking when she came up with Douman but I need some of it

Usagi Routo-sense, another fgo artist AND JUST LOOK AT HOW INCREDIBLE THEY ARE AT USING COLORS LIKE??? HOW??? Their art is like cocain for my eyes I could look at them for hours

ORKA, the artist of A Stepmother's Marchen. Anyone who knows that manhwa probably knows why she's on this list, her art has so much soul and passion in it, literally every single panel looks like a painting and it makes me want to cry just looking at it

JJ Maybank/Rafe Cameron fics rec

*Note: My mind before I made this post was like, from "you don't need to it, they are rarepair RARE FREAKING PAIR no one care, especially on this platform" to "NO I have to, for the "paper ship" with almost 20 fics on my bookmark and so many good works on ao3, I am probably gonna explode if I can't get it out I don't even care if no one gives a shit" (to lovely people who care I love you), so here we are I guess 💀

No Murders, No Gold, Just Vibes (multi-chap, finished, rated E)

One of the first fics of this ship on ao3 and still lives up to its title as the most hits fic so far. It's the most read not only because it's one of the first but also because it's just TOO GOOD. It has angst, has hurt, it has fluff and comfort, all of them was so nicely balanced. The characters development is not too quick, it wasn't really feel like canon in the end but still not being ooc, and that has my deepest appreciation. Also the most important (to me at least lol) we have verse!Jafe, we even have the build up for Rafe to bottoming (the author is an angel my gawd), every fics that have bottom!Rafe is automatically good to me because it's rare af I need MORE. Oops it's gotten too long now but one last thing, there's one small part in the fic I really love related to their kiss, I will stop here to avoid spoiler so you should read it to know what i'm talking about yeah?

i'll take the risk if you are the reward (multi-chap, on hiatus (?), rated E)

The fic I talked about before, still one of the craziest, wildest fic i've read and i've read A LOT on ao3 for more than a decade. A thick book of spice is already unhinged enough? The plot has also the same level of craziness. Imagine The Bear tv show with all the screaming except the main couple is h0rny all the times and everybody always thinking about "dextering" everyone (I use the exact word the author used lol). Also why 180k words of corn is good? Because it still made me feel hot inside even tho there was no penetration for half of the fic (and that is almost 100k words, wild I know lol) 🔥 *Edited: Okay so I just picked up this fic again after a few days and I've realized I forgot how freaking good the author's writing is, how someone could write something so chaotic and poetic at the same time really, I wanna cry. Bonus, a poem in the most important chapter of all 35 chapters. Pretty much summed up Rafe and JJ's relationship in this masterpiece of a fanfic ❤️

Lost at Sea (multi-chap, finished, no rating)

Best Jafe AU fic to me. Another nicely balanced hurt/comfort, and one of the most wholesome fic i've read of the pair. It's not fluffy but very lighthearted and emotional. The idea of JJ and Rafe becoming a team of two (forcefully lol) and slowly realizing their feelings for each other through hardship on an unknown place is sooo appealing. Only them, no other characters appeared for most of the fic, like a breath of flesh air I LOVE it. Now I'm having the feminine urge to translate this fic to my first language and haven't translate any fic for a very long time (when you love a fanfic too much *sob* 🥺)

The Enemy of My Friend Is My Lover (multi-chap, finished, rated T)

There it is my first ever rated T i've bookmarked. If you want to read a fic where therapy actually worked, it's the one for you (therapy session in fanfiction often treated like nothing yk, that's why this fic is important). The character development of all the characters is so good because the writer planned it out so well, so detailed, with structure. Rafe's relationship with all of them is so sweet especially with JJ and Sarah, made my heart melt <3

Sounds Good (oneshot, rated E)

This fic has 2 things I love most checked out: post canon?✔️ bottom!Rafe?✔️ Good freaking food 👏 Corn with plot more like delicious corn with delicious plot. I read many fics by the author and she can write really sexy pre slash and dialogues, and JJ in her fics is always so horny for Rafe, freaking LOVE that. And I have to point out that Rafe in this fic has hearing difficulty and has to use hearing aid, that made the plot so much more interesting to me.

i just had an ancient fandom memory unlocked which i need to share with you all 🙈 many of you are far too young to remember the halcyon days of early-2010s-Tumblr...particularly a pre-Once-ler Tumblr. so there may be a good chunk of you who weren't present for the insanity that was the Portal fandom, and specifically the fixation around Wheatley: one of the earliest Tumblr Sexymen 😳 so strap in for a little Tumblr Sexyman History...!!!

meet Wheatley, your companion and later-turned-antagonist in the enormously beloved Portal 2. bumbling and never able to shut his digital mouth, Wheatley is a Personality Core: a type of artificial intelligence housed in a metal sphere, developed by Aperture Science. specifically, Wheatley is an Intelligence Dampening Sphere. he was developed to attach to GLaDOS, the main antagonist of the whole series, to distract her with a litany of terrible ideas 😂

however, Wheatley doesn't remain amiable for long. in a scheme to dethrone GLaDOS and escape the facility you (or your playable character, Chell) are trapped in, you perform a core transfer, placing Wheatley in GLaDOS's chassis. the sheer power of being in control of the entire facility immediately goes to Wheatley's head, transforming him into an evil, sadistic, Machiavellian figure who forces you to perform test after test for his own satisfaction. also, he has a British (Bristolian!) accent. you can see the recipe for obsession, right? 😂💖

however, this was a time wherein fandom tastes were a little different. while today we are delighted to obsess over characters with unusual designs (and particularly thirst over characters of the robot/android/objectum/etc. variety), 'White Twink Humanisation' was rife in the early 2010s. if you've seen humanisations of Bill Cipher and ideas of what Cecil Palmer looked like, as well as the site's preoccupation with pale gangly weirdos (David Tennant and Matt Smith's Tenth and Eleventh Doctors come to mind), you can imagine that the urge to humanise Wheatley was huge.

enter Stephen Merchant: Wheatley's actual voice actor, who just so happens to be a six-foot-seven, gangly, nerdy British guy. fanfic author Wafflestories wrote an extremely well-known Wheatley redemption fic called Blue Sky, wherein Wheatley is able to control a hard-light human version of himself...who bears a striking resemblance to the real-life Stephen Merchant. the Portal fandom unanimously decided that human Wheatley looked just like Stephen Merchant—a design trend we still see today!! 😳 here's where the cursed forbidden memory comes in. we were so goddamn obsessed with Wheatley. we wanted to see him as a human so badly. so we went through Stephen Merchant's filmography, and...

this is Tracy, Stephen's character in Tooth Fairy (2010), starring Dwayne the Rock Johnson 😂 Tracy is a wingless caseworker fairy assigned to the Rock's character Derek, an ordinary man who becomes a tooth fairy against his will. Tracy is...unhinged. bizarrely intense. a delightfully weird and memorable character in a movie that can only be described as a fever dream, played with idiosyncrasies only Stephen Merchant is capable of. i recently found out it was directed by Michael Lembeck, who directed both The Santa Clause 2 and The Santa Clause 3 🙈💖 yes. for some ungodly reason, plenty of us Wheatley simps decided that not only was Stephen Merchant the faceclaim for human Wheatley...but this specific iteration of Stephen Merchant as a wingless tooth fairy. Tracy had his own little dedicated fanbase complete with ask blogs and fanart and extended Tooth Fairy lore. of course Tracy's popularity was helped along by his dapper dress sense and his...interesting personality. there was even a joking trend called 'Tracy Goes Insane 2011', wherein fans made a significantly more yandere, knifemurder-esque version of Tracy after he finally snapped. truly incredible 👏 so there you have it. we all started simping for a silly little metal ball who got drunk on testing juice and went full Joker mode, decided that he needed to resemble his tall, handsome voice actor, and consequently became obsessed with his stint as a deranged tooth fairy. and so it shall be written. thanks for reading 🙏💖

Heather accepting a position with Fisk as the “Commissioner of Mental Health.” I’m really glad they’re not just tossing her aside after she and Matt start going their separate ways, but developing her as a potential grey antagonist. It’s super fun to have a character waver morally in such a balanced, yet inciting, way.

Fisk enacting martial law (Season 2’s gonna be intense)

Frank being captured by Fisk and manipulating the cop guarding him to escape. LOVE it when we get to see him talk his way out of shit.

Vanessa’s blood splatter painting. We love a sick and evil woman.

Dex is still out there, and it’s not clear what he’s feeling.

The setup of all the people who aren’t down with Fisk’s fascism. We’re gonna see them fighting baaaaack next season. 👀 We’re really getting a people vs. corrupt, fascist, government storyline in the current climate.

Unfortunate lowlight: Cole was fully with the corrupt cops, Punisher logo and all. But Frank left him alive, so I’m holding out hope for character development in Season 2.

I’m glad they’re already well into the second season's production. I really don’t wanna have to wait, lol

Ok now that I’ve had time to actually process chapter 27 of and they were roommates I can actually talk about it coherently (aka gush about my favorite parts) so spoilers ahead if you haven’t read it yet!!

First and foremost, Hugo’s character arc was done so fucking well. Seriously, it’s one of the best versions of Hugo I’ve read and I think about it on a daily basis. Comparing Hugo in chapter one to Hugo in the newest one, it’s amazing to see how far he’s come and how much he’s changed. Him helping out with this entire dance for an entirely selfless reason just really cemented that. Also the fact that when Varian asked him about it, he didn’t shoot back with some snarky reply like he could’ve, he told the truth. Again, he’s come so far and being able to watch him change little by little is such an amazing thing to read.

THE DECODED NOTES? DUDE. The fact that the one thing that kept him going this whole time- the one thing that had him keeping everyone else, Varian specifically, at arm’s length- is something he doesn’t even need to worry about anymore? The fact that he’s spent so long scrambling to secure his destiny, believing that at any moment, it could just be ripped away, just to learn that he doesn’t need to worry about it disappearing anymore? Absolute fucking perfection. The whole monologue about Hugo finally being able to live without being in constant survival mode was so beautiful and well written and ughhhhh I can’t. “Now that was all over. The Storybook saw him. Needs were as good as met. So, what. did. Hugo. want?” AND THEN THE PART A LITTLE FURTHER DOWN WHERE HE REALIZES HE WANTS VARIAN IN HIS LIFE OMFG IM DEAD/vpos

Varian accidentally spam texting Hugo out of worry that he wouldn’t know where the dance had been moved to was literally so sweet, like bro was freaking tf out but honestly? Valid, I would’ve done the same thing.

THEIR OUTFITS HELLO? GODDAMN YALL WEREN’T MESSING AROUND THIS CHAPTER I WASN’T EXPECTING TO BE BLESSED WITH ART BUT HOLY SHITTTT! The colors, the outfits, the expressions, the details, everything just aowjsosjsbksissj

Varian allowing himself to crush on Hugo without shoving it down or pushing it away was so adorable and well deserved after being in denial for so long 👏👏 and he’s so flustered and completely lost when it comes to matters of the heart. The way he just kept rambling when asking Hugo to dance just for Hugo to be like “I’m barely hearing you, wanna dance?” Was so fucking funny to me. I also loved that Varian thinks of his crush like an experiment and how he was gathering data and evidence to analyze how Hugo feels about him. Idk there’s just something about Varian reverting to science, something familiar, when he’s in an unfamiliar situation that is so special and dear to me.

AND THE SCENE WHERE THE LIGHTS CUT OUT AND HUGO WAS FREAKING OUT THINKING THEY GOT CAUGHT AND HE AND VARIAN WERE TRYING TO FIND EACH OTHER WAS LITERALLY SO GOOD I CANT. The povs switching back and forth while they were searching for each other was so suspenseful and added so much to the moment overall, it was one of my top 3 moments of the chapter.

Another top three moment? Hugo and Varian working together to make the bubble lights. I am a sucker for these two working together because they’re such fucking geniuses, they’re the definition of “great minds think alike”. This moment was another amazing example of character development for both of them because it shows how comfortable they are working together and how they’re close/familiar enough with each other to be on the same page. Not only that, but the little part where Hugo asks if Varian’s sure the chemicals won’t blow up the glove and Varian replies “I’m 85% sure it won’t blow up the whole thing.” And Hugo locks the mixture in? TRUST. IT SHOWS THAT HE TRUSTS VARIAN FULLY AND AGH I CANT BE NORMAL ABOUT THIS

Varian. Confessed. Not only did he confess, he said I LOVE YOU??? I think a part of my soul left my body when I read that cuz WHAT??? OH MY GOSH??? YOU CANT JUST DO THAT TO A GIRL WITHOUT WARNING (all jokes of course and like I said in my other post, vibrating out of my skin just thinking about it). That being said, I’m terrified for the next chapter because Hugo is a wild card and there’s a big part of me that feels like he’s going to run or avoid it or mess it up somehow (please let me be wrong)

Persona 3 FES was the first Persona game I ever played, and I remember being SO stoked for Portable to come out that I got a PSP just to play it! And it was WORTH IT (well... the PSP is a terrible system but that game IS great)! I feel like the FeMC adds wayyyy more depth to the characters in the game.

I don't feel like I would ever go back to play the other games because I think the narrative is messy and they do the girls so dirty in all of them (looking at you specifically Persona 5! But every girl's development feels pretty flattened at a certain point in the social linke?? I dunno, that's just how I felt). = _ =;;

But P3P just adds so much more to all the characters! And I know I'm a bit biased because Persona 3 is the nostalgia game for me, but the portable adds so much more interest to EVERYTHING!

I think the only note I can remember being disappointed (and just, grossed out) by was Ken's social link (not so much the social link itself, but just the fact they give the option to play into semi-romantic?? YUCK) Atlus can never be normal with opposite gender age gaps?? 🙄 But besides that, it just gives EVERY character more development and room to breathe and change? It just felt more interesting playing from her perspective!!

Which character was the most fun (or most challenging) to write?

Ooo Chronos for sure, I know Nik and Chronos are the same guy, but writing him all held back isn't nearly as fun as writing all that flirty and cocky dialogue. The most challenging was the player/MC Oracle themselves, I am not the biggest fan of writing self insert mc's as I prefer established mc's as I think it helps with overall chemistry. I do like where I landed, but it may have potentially alienated some characters. Can't please everyone though.

Do the characters have any hidden details or backstories we haven’t seen yet?

Well of course Nik/Chronos does, the player character not especially. They became Oracle at 19 when their mother was badly injured and has assumed that role for at least 10 years. Everything else is up to you the player.

Are there any character relationships that will develop further in the full game?

Oh yes, especially Oracle and Nik's. I do plan to introduce 2 quite important supporting characters, one of which that will have a sprite...and that's all I'll say hehe. Gonna really ramp up the drama.

What has been the biggest challenge in making the game so far?

Hmmm, we had a pretty smooth development all things considered. We made it in exactly a month if you can believe it, and I had a pretty solid outline from jump. The hardest part was actually my own self doubts in regards to the project. 'Could I write a yandere that wasn't horror adjacent and players still like them?' 'Was my game too close to BSH?' despite me never having played it until after the script was written. Etc... I had a lot of moments of doubting if I could handle how people responded to the game, and I've been blown away. (In a good way).

How has the team’s vision evolved since development began?

Honestly it's pretty much the exact same as when I started. Just more vivid? More alive? What was once just a fun concept feels like a story I really think is worth telling and makes me super happy. My team really did add their own flair to build off of my outline and we all seemed to just -get it. That type of team chemistry isn't easy to come by. I would know I've led and been apart of so many teams.

Is there anything you’re particularly proud of in the game’s design or writing?

Oh gosh yes, the pacing believe it or not is my favorite part. I tend to be an overwriter and all my projects are probably longer than they should be. But I feel like Criminally Yours is the perfect length. Long enough to get people invested, but scenes are punchy and come one right after the other and flow well together. I also love how much we decided to lean into the comic aesthetic. Originally we wanted subtle comic details, but it was way too fun to go all the way and I am very happy we did. It's not cheesy, and others seem to really love the style.

Will there be any new mechanics or features in the full game?

There will be very impactful choices with at least 2 major endings, potentially 3. I have a really strong experience I want to present in the next game that is equal parts heat-wrenching and fun, it's going to be very dramatic and cinematic. Just lots of tension, drama, and general messiness that all ramps up into a big crescendo.

Are there any side stories, secret routes, or easter eggs to look out for?

Oh goshhhh- okay side stories, I'd love to, but not until the second part is done and if I have some good ideas for them. Secret route...interesting...very interestingggg. Easter eggs a couple:

Nik's line "whatcha reading?" I had our VA voice like Isabella from Phineas and Ferb. Oracle is actually tied to my fantasy series "Rectifier" in that they use the third eye symbol, as super powers exist as 'marked abilities' in my fantasy story and are often gifted by Angels/Nephelim who possess a third eye. Nikolaos is spelt the way it is so it had the greek spelling to tie into his Chronos persona. Delphi the default name is a shared OC between me and my best friend/cocreative director/programmer Grey. It's based off of: "The Oracle of Delphi" a Priestess at the temple of the Apollo in ancient Greece. It was considered the most important temple in Greece.

Your coworker 'Jack' was named only Jackass coworker in my outline before I named him, and decided to just call him Jack lol.

I'm sure there are more, but those are the ones that come to mind.

How does player choice impact the narrative?

It impacts it in a huge way, one of your choices from the first game even carries over to the next part. In a significant way. The endings are completely different from eachother, but it's up to you to determine which one is a good ending and which one is bad.

I grew up with the 2004 Batman cartoon and I have thought Dick and Bruce had a parental relationship whether it be father/son or Big brother/little brother it depends on the adaption.

I have just recently got back into Batman and into comics in general and I was honestly a bit shell shocked to see so much well adopted family incest which is just wow but I’m just numb to the internet at this point so nothing surprises me anymore.

What I can’t stand is liars, I swear these people who ship dick and Bruce together are just straight up in denial in some places just accept you’re shipping something taboo. Don’t lie to me about how much they hold a place in queer history which is greatly exaggerated given how it happen based on a lie by a quack and his horrible book note the beds were separate I checked the infamous comic panel it’s just draw really badly but given how tight the deadlines for comic back in the day were I will forgive that poor artist. Also another book they source from the 2000s book written about the queer coding of Batman and Robin seems to really like to leave out the fact that Dick is a child and is written as one. No matter what gen he was written as young lad with hobbies similar to that generation and time period mostly.

Like yes at the time it was done because homophobia but don’t pretend there wasn’t another issue aka it would be the grooming of a minor like for context homosexuality was see as connected to pedophilia. Like seriously when I was looking into this topic, it honestly felt like telephone because how much the original context of the panel was lost like seriously does no one check sources anymore.

Another thing they don’t bring up is how in the 1940s adopting was very uncommon and seen as weird to many it wasn’t as accepted back then which is why ward was used because that was more acceptable back then. It’s also the reason why Jason was adopted by Bruce because it was more acceptable when he was created. Also it was such a non issue to the writers at the time that even though technically Dick wasn’t adopted by Bruce on panel he still treated as one by the writers mostly before Marv Wolfman decided it make for interesting story to have Bruce not adopted Dick and have Dick have a whole hang up on it and is confused by why Bruce didn’t at that time.

Like literally I am tired of people claiming Dick doesn’t want to be adopted by Bruce or that he never wanted him to his father to him it’s simply just not true although it is complicated. Like Dick won’t call Bruce dad but in his eyes as he got older he saw Bruce as a father figure as well as his second dad and Bruce has always seen Dick as like a son and to his actual son blood or no blood for crying out loud he bloody raised him along with Alfred for over ten years like how could Dick not develop a parental bond with him and Alfred ahh. He may not be father of the year but he still cared and look after him all those years like no wonder Dick felt hurt in the original Marv wolfmen story when he wasn’t adopted.

Now, I will say in the early adaption of Batman and Robin and even the silver age to an extent. Did betray them as brothers because well the age gap was closer in 1966 version and late 70s cartoons of them so I can see why older fans can see it that way and the silver age mostly do a big brother little brother dynamic with them. While golden age seems to flip flop and if they were father/son or Big brother/little brother and the Bronze Age they went to father/son by the end because that was probably more interesting to write. Like a son repelling against his overly critical and overprotective father figure was probably relatable to lot of teens and young adults reading Dick stories at that time. Then the rest of eras after that just settled with them being Father/son duo mostly. We don’t talk about Devin weird ass takes in their relationship I swear she is just inserting herself in some characters just to be creepy towards Richard and well she nearly destroyed Oliver character by writing him being weird about Richard when he was Robin which was just yikes.

I also just find it so gross how she took a very reserved and very ace coded character like Dick Grayson and sexualised him, like making his exotic and making him overly sexual is just huge yikes to me and making him Romani because circus is such a huge stereotype and quite harmful. I have such mix feelings about Richard being romani because of how it was done and Tom Tyler has done a poor job in my opinion as well. Like originally Dick was just pure American then his mother became european notable french in one of them which makes more sense to me. I don’t know, I will eat my socks when it’s done well which would be wonderful but right now it’s just no to me. Also, why Richard like what just because he’s sexy Devin and he is romani because circus. Like my ass is as white as snow but even I know that is a weird ass take and honestly fetishy in nature I feel.

Which leads to me being so weary of people who do use it because like yes some people do it so well take notes writers at DC. But others well… I feel just sexualise him for the sake of it and I get very suspicious of people who make draw Dick overly feminine or straight up make him the wife in the relationship. It just makes my trans man heart nervous because usually they also ship Richard with older man (Bruce with him as well probably…) which in Canon he has called creeps and acts super uncomfortable around them. Like whatever ship your taboo ships just keep a safe distance from me okay. It just sadden how Richard is written as overly sexual and slutty like that is not my boy. 😭

I think the reason it also upset me so much is Bruce in a lot of ways is like my dad when he is written as a well meaning father figure. I relate to Dick being the eldest of many siblings and also my Dad is my stepdad but he has raised since I was nearly one. I know it’s not the same but to me he is my father and nothing will change that. It’s why I can’t stop people who act like Bruce and Dick aren’t father/son because well he’s not adopted by law so it’s doesn’t count but to Bruce already is and honestly I just wish in modern adaption just get adopted as a early teen at this point. Like even modern DC doesn’t hide or exclude Dick Grayson is Bruce Wayne eldest son and I’m so happy for that. (Even though he has been adopted by law but as an adult but I digress.)

I will shot myself mentally if I see another person claim it is DC heteronormative doing their relationship like shut up. You who says this bs you clearly don’t care about queer history or adoption history in general and it’s so harmful how people try to undermine adopted families like that. Like seriously ship what you like just don’t pretend it isn’t taboo as all hell. 😤 Also, anyone who claims this don’t you dare call young queers homophobia because they’re saying how it is. You don’t see people defending pedophilia and incest in Greek mythology do ya.

Oh apologies for the kinda rant there but this honestly this has been bothering me about the bat fandom. I will say I’m still a noob when it comes to comic book history and I haven’t read most of Dick and Bruce books but I have done my best to do my homework on them and the rest of Batman history and it members. I have honestly only read modern books like world finest and short teen titans spin off book. I’m currently pre order Mark Waid latest book Batman and Robin year one which I am so excited for truly he is saving me given me some good Father/son moments with Dick and Bruce. Also maybe the new Nightwing which I hope will be good, I read TT run online free because I’m poor :p and it was so boring, Richard just feels so bland in that book. Like I will give TT credit their some good panels and moments but that’s just it. My inner Dick Grayson fanboy is showing ha ha. 😅
