i want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart who's ever tagged me in their posts! i can't put it into words how grateful i am for having such talented, sweet people around me that wanted to share their beautiful creations with me. i cherish them all and i hope yapping in my tags conveyed that. Honestly i could talk about them in great lengths (and mostly i did...) so this is why i feel like i think its right time to wrap this up - i feel bad when i can't sit down, talk my ass off and give my full attention to each and every single post. oh gosh. i'm not sure, but i know it definitely WILL affect their parenting... i think at first donnie will find himself just... deferring to his partner a LOT in almost any situation because he's afraid that he'll fuck it up, because he DOESN'T feel like he understands proper boundaries or what parenting is supposed to look like, etc etc etc, and he's afraid he'll mess up. he probably reads a TON of parenting books as well because RESEARCH and will often try to pull directly from them in any situation he can, and is confused when things don't go exactly the way they were described in the text... leo i think kind of tends to flounder between being overprotective and feeling the desire to protect his son from everything and anything and wanting to overcorrect this tendency by pulling back and trying to give him as much freedom and space as possible, which sometimes leads to some... inconsistencies. there's definitely a learning curve for both of them, but they both get the hang of it eventually. they both have lovely partners and a very loving and supportive family to help them and they'll figure it out with a bit of practice.

i like to imagine them all staying very close, especially coz i'm loosely planning on them all going through the kraang-apocalypse together (and then coming through to the other side!) so i can't imagine them ever drifting too far from each other, emotionally or geographically. there's a bit of a rocky start for a lot of them, but all of the siblings end up a very tight-knit bunch.

whew this conversation on misogynoir and claudia. if there's one character where there's no legitimate reason to hate her it's claudia. she's literally the embodiment of has never done anything wrong in her life. i hope someone (not me 😩) explores the childism angle wrt to claudia. because people be hating children and wanting to dominate them.

the fun of claudia's character is that she isnt a good person by any real life morals. by way of her youth, she could not develop enough understanding of complex moral codes [which is even more prominent w/ claudia being turned @ the age of 5 in books but even then.. ik at 14, i was hardly the pinnacle of morality and maturity, i was reckless & destructive, and did not understand consequence until it kicked my ass]. the moral dilemma of the actual brutality of vampirism is something shes certainly better at disassociating from than louis simply bc she was too young to understand right & wrong.. as iwtv novel said and the title of ep4 is, it is the reckless pursuit of blood w/ a child's demanding in ep4 that leads claudia to killing & disposing of bodies recklessly, a hurricane hitting lifting the bodies up, and her leaving. even tho shes a 20 something woman, lestat x louis tried to give her a second [or her first] childhood, and most importantly, her brain is permanently metasized w/ the thought patterns & responses of a poor 14 year old girl who came out of a fire on the verge of death. she leaves bc she cognitively is unprepared for & does not want to deal w/ the consequences that come with exposing this household of interracial gay dudes w/ a creole chid during the jim crow days to heightened police scrutiny. the question w/ claudia [& armand, and all these creatures] is that can u recognize their capacity for cruelty, the tragedy & loss of agency/life done upon them and still sympathize with them? for claudia, people already had a 50/50 view of her in vc fandom for 'getting in the way of the ship' esp w/ her oedipal [mutual] dynamic w louis, but in amc show, the relationship's certainly changed on louis's end. i cant say amc louis has the capacity to long after any woman much less claudia in that way, but there is a sense of [co]dependency on a black girlwoman thats much more interesting here. i got a post on that somewhere lol. im not sure what childism means but im guessing it refers to the denial of humanity children face by adults, and i definitely find that true. lestat and louis both want to keep claudia preserved in their memory as their little girl, lestat even moreso when claudia begins to question & challenge his authority as the patriarch.. louis picks & chooses when to regard claudia as a grown woman [saying shes almost 33 to lestat when she comes back, and when she cooks up the plan to kill lestat, evening himself out to be merely one of lestat's creations when he asks "can the children kill the father" to ease his guilt for his love and his hate for their maker, their abuser, his husband, alladat] and when to regard claudia as his child [even in the modern day when he talks about her, being protective of her diaries in the face of the white interviewer/audiences]. fans saying 'yea lestat, claudia should stay out of ur lovelife' is hilarious cuz lestat dragged claudia back into their lovelife in the permanent role as their child, when she wanted to leave in ep6, and made her to keep louis attached to him [cuz he thinks louis couldnt keep loving him otherwise]. shes a rhetorical device in the marriage: lestat loves her cruelty, louis loves her innocence, bc those aspects of claudia remind them of [how they see] themselves. misogynoir & childism, as u word it, may play into fans’s disinterest but also favoring an interpretation of claudia within the lines of their preferred party btwn lestat x louis, which is also why i giggle to myself when ppl tag claudia w/ either one of their surnames

(WORD DUMP AHEAD!! HAVE FUN READING!!) After a few months of consideration, a few weeks of even more consideration, and a whole weekend of planning- Ask The Cosmos is FINALLY here!! Oh, right, screaming into an endless voice doesnt always get peoples attention.. Hm.. Oh well, just an excuse to introduce everyone to the many MANY worlds of Cosmicanity, and just what this blog is! So what even IS Ask The Cosmos/Cosmicanity? Short answer! My OC writing! Longer, cooler answer! Cosmicanity is a very lengthy tale centered around the affairs of beings higher than gods(dubbed "Divine" or "Divinity"), and the Goldview/Underside conflict around magic users. A lot of this is written by yours truely(Shawn!! @cosmichaze01 !!), but I also have a cowriter who owns a good over half portion of the characters, and has helped me get this far with my writing (Cates!! @breeloved !!)(This literally wouldnt be possible without her, so huge huge thank you to you if youre reading this!!) This blog, however, is the more interactive, fun way of telling the story!! So how do these asks work? Well, the same way any tumblr ask blog of ye ol' days worked! ohhhh the "what could have been" angle is really interesting...... im not personally a big fan of the "yearning to be normal" variety of angst that a lot of saiki fans write so i wouldnt gravitate toward that aspect of it, but like. they are certainly a far cry from normal siblings lmao - that just isnt really a tragedy to me since neither of them are even remotely normal people. they were never gonna have a normal sibling relationship, and thats what i like about it 😅

however, since kusuo does spend a lot of time wishing for his powers to go away, i wonder if he ever thought about how that would affect his relationship with kuusuke..... well. he probably assumed (correctly) that it would make kuusuke leave him alone. but think about how much lonelier kuusuke would be....... do you think it ever made kusuo hesitate. or maybe a vindictive part of him thought his brother would deserve to be alone for always thinking of himself as above humanity. but then what would that say about him.......

and kuusuke. we never really get a good look into his psyche but given how ecstatic he is that kusuo is stronger than him, i wonder if he ever wished to be normal...... in fact, that couldve been the reason he went to such a prestigious school - in the hopes of finding someone close to his level. but it didnt work...... and theres also the fact that he doesnt exactly have like. powers. maybe he never dared to hope for a world where he could be a normal person. yeah...... theres definitely potential there

and i really like compelling dynamics that are nonromantic too (which is why i originally made this post about the dynamic between two brothers lmao), plus i have kind of a weird relationship with romance and shipping in general (as someone who is polyamorous in an aromantic way). but i find that if you want to find people digging deep into the complexities of a fictional relationship, well. theyre gonna be the shippers. thats why i said "they would be a popular ship" and not "i would ship them" - it was meant to be more of a comment on how interesting they are as a duo, and how often people ship two characters who are as insane about each other as these two are, not to say that shipping them would be more compelling or that i necessarily think more people should ship them lol (although if it means i'll start seeing more alternatives to the typical interpretation of. entirely one-sided/borderline abusive relationship where kusuo genuinely hates kuusuke and wants nothing to do with him. then yk. i wouldnt complain)

and i think because these two aspects of shipping - the desire to analyze and elaborate on every aspect of a relationship, and the desire to see the characters kiss - arent properly delineated here on tumblr (especially since often times people are exploring the former via the latter), it can make people think these two things are inherently connected, and thus refuse to write or engage with deranged meta about sibling relationships because shipping them would be icky. i even had to actively scrub the shipping terminology from the original post because thats just how im used to writing about fictional duos, even though i have no real interest in seeing any of my faves kiss (and this pair is no different). unfortunately this isnt like ao3 where theres a separate tag for platonic relationships - you either tag it with the ship and hope people see your vision, or shout into the void and hope for the best

whew, kinda went on a tangent there - that wasnt directed at you or even specifically this fandom btw im just musing about a general trend ive noticed. something something amatonormativity. fandom placing romance above all other types of relationship etc etc. and obviously my throwaway remark about how i think they would be a popular ship did not communicate this idea in the slightest (i hadnt even really articulated my thoughts on it at all until now) so no need to apologize lmao your response was certainly reasonable enough

been thinking about the saiki siblings a lot lately....... their dynamic of "guy who experiments on you to feel something" & "guy who lets you experiment on him to feel something" is soooo compelling to me......

what if you were a genius scientist and there was only one person in the world who could compare to your talents, but he was better than you in every way and testing the limits of his superiority was the only thing that even remotely interested you. what if you were so powerful as to be considered inhuman and there was only one person in the world who understood that well enough to legitimately challenge you, and even though you know he'll never be able to beat you, maybe knowing you well enough to test your limits and take advantage of your weaknesses is close enough.

what if you were both so hyperaware of your own isolation from not only the rest of humanity but also each other that you couldnt ever leave each other alone. you reach for the person who comes closest to understanding you, and your inability to relate to each other is a constant reminder that neither of you can ever be normal. its the fucked up symbiotic relationship between a horrible monster that doesnt belong anywhere except in a lab, and the researcher who has been obsessively gathering data on it for his entire life. life was boring without you so i built a time machine and plunged the world into darkness. im sorry that being a normal person means i wont get to play with you anymore.
