sorry if this is Damn Incoherent or missing anything Glaring as i haven't seen Everything there is to see from the christmas event. anyway. i know i'm just making shit up based on my own oc-verse when it comes to delilah and toon creation and the effect it's had on her but like. i don't think i want her to be Just Evil. they said dandy isn't Just Evil so it just feels a little wrong to me that 'but there Will be a Just Evil one'. like i certainly see how she's shaping up to be The Villain in the way she's talked abt Particularly the holiday toons in the christmas event and giving All of the toons like. Experiment Number Designations. and maybe being the reason dandy can Go Twisted. but arthur seems to have a lot of trust in her and I don't want to believe it's just Him Being Naive.

(the following is headcanons territory) I like to think arthur and delilah have been friends for a long time and he like. just Gets her way of speaking and acting. she comes off very cold and clinical, she's so Guarded and these walls Barely come down but he Understands her. and inversely she cares A Lot about what he's passionate about. she admires his kindness and trust and unapologetic love for everything around him. she made the toons Real for him bc his show is important to him and she wanted to help him. i think she also cares about the toons but she doesn't quite see them the same as arthur does. she cares about them bc arthur cares about them, not exactly bc She Cares About Them Independently Of Arthur. she thinks it's really cool she was able to do this but yeah. they're a Feat to her first and foremost

and with my headcanons about toon creation, making a toon real is Physically making your investment of something intangible into an independently living thinking fully formed Thing capable of motor function and speech right out the gate. it wears on your soul bc it Came from there, it is borrowing bits of your heart and brain. i think with making like 28 and counting there's not much of her soul Left at this point. i think that's made her 'worse'. i think that's made her think 'it's a waste of resources' about the holiday toons disappearing and to 'think of it as a good thing' about them finding corners to die in like a spider of malnutrition in your bedroom. i think it has all Worn Away her identity and sense of self or sense of Care. and this isn't even factoring in whatever the fuck THE ICHOR has to do with anything bc I don't even Know what it is. but i Don't think it really helped anything. i just think she's like. a sick sick husk of herself by the time gardenview shuts down.

Karen and her oldest brother Warren.

I didn't really plan to draw OCs today but someone told me a story about this really nice and cool encounter that she had today with a woman named Karen and how when she heard the woman's name she immediately thought of my Karen. So. I was very happy to hear there was a really cool lady in Walmart wearing a cowboy hat named Karen.

Warren is the oldest but only a year older than Ross aaaaaand while Warren is very quick to dote on his siblings and be very nice (unlike Ross' foul mouth) he's still a brother and has to antagonize his siblings SOMETIMES. Warren's also the first to lecture Ross for his language vs Karen who straight up punches Ross for his language.

As weird as it sounds, I always viewed Sonic and Shadows rivalry and relationship to be vaguely sibling coded in canon. Sonic has the whole 'its so great we get to be heroes together, even if we argue/fight alot' thing going on, while Shadow has the whole 'I respect you but I think that's embarrassing and wouldn't admit that I actually like you, ever' thing going on.

I'm pretty sure that this might be a byproduct of Sega trying to write the majority of Sonics relationships as sibling-esq no matter how his dynamic with them actually are. Sega just loves the found family trope with Sonic and Co.

hmm i guess i can see where you're coming from but i don't really see them that way personally. like it's valid i respect it its just not my usual take

i also dont really agree with the idea that most of sonics friendships have a sibling vibe like tails is his brother all those other people are his friends(/rivals/whatever) . well i can see cream being a little sister figure of sorts but i feel like she fills that role for several characters not just sonic in particular . not that im trying to control how you view sonic character relationships that's just My Onion

me and my sibling in the car today went back and forth like "thank you bad twin for creating world peace" "thank you bad twin for ending global warming" or whatever. like things like that. we did that for a solid 10 minutes before my dad came back from the hardware store. absolutely wild. nothing else happened. it was just. thank you bad twin for doing objectively good thing.

do you have any good book recs about the Hapsburgs?

Ahhhhhhh what a fun ask!! Icl I mainly read hyper niche academic papers, but the main book I've read that I really really enjoyed was The Habsburgs by Dororthy Gies McGuigan(which internet archive has here!!!), which I still need to buy myself a copy of, because of how useful I found it. I've talked about it before here, so I won't just restate myself, but basically I really like the perspective it takes and how it doesn't show a preference for any specific time period(as many are wont to do with Austro-Hungary.) I'm both picky and not picky about which books I read, because on one hand, I'll often buy any book I see out in the wild because there's rarely any, but I also can't stand ones that have an obvious preference(or that I dislike stylistically.) That one just turned out to be just right for me! I have another book on my desk about them I still need to read(by Martyn Rady), that I bought somewhat recently, but I obviously can't rec yet in good faith, though maybe I'll reblog this with my thoughts in ....a good amount of time, if you're curious!

Though if you'd like to learn more about them in general, I'd recommend this website as a resource, because you can pretty much learn a good overview about anything you can imagine. If you learn more and like it, the next step is probably to dive into the academic papers of whoever piques your interest, because unless they're one of the really popular figures(i.e. Charles V, Franz Joseph, Sisi, etc.), it's hard to find books specifically about them. I mean I even think wikipedia is not a truly terrible source, though obviously I'm looking at this from a personal enjoyment perspective, and not a purely academic one LOL

i don't really know how to articulate this super clearly but i really appreciate that like. kuon conceptually with the 8 floaty swords behind him could very easily have turned out like a murakumo knockoff and im impressed by how visually and stylistically distinct he is. its really nice
