Introduction to 4G network TD
with the official announcement of the Ministry of industry and information technology that the 4G license will be issued at the end of the year, news about the word "4G" has recently occupied the home pages of major media portals. in previous articles, we briefly introduced some data and performance tests of 4G network for you, so that you can have a further understanding of 4G network. Today, our topic is still around 4G, but the content is relatively in-depth. From the recent large-scale 4G network publicity posters, I believe you all know that the 4G network deployed by China Mobile is the TD-LTE system led by China, and was listed as 4G international standard at the plenary meeting of the radio communication plenary session of the International Telecommunication Union in 2012. In addition, fdd-lte developed by 3GPP, the European Organization for standardization, is also listed as the 4G international standard. Since the two solutions are listed as international standards, what are the differences between them and what are their advantages? In view of this problem, let's go into today's topic to understand these two 4G network modes.
4G network is the fourth generation mobile communication network. It is the evolution of 3G network, but it is not formed based on the simple upgrading of 3G network. From the technical point of view, the core of 4G network andThe two core technologies of 3G are totally different. The core technology of 3G network is CDMA, while the core of 4G network is OFDM and MIMO. According to the definition of ITU, when the static transmission rate reaches 1Gbps / s and the user can reach 100Mbps / s in high-speed mobile state, it can be used as one of 4G technologies.
At present, there are only two 4G standards, LTE advanced and WiMAX advanced. Among them, LTE advanced is the upgraded version of LTE technology. In terms of features, LTE advanced can be backward compatible and fully compatible with LTE. Its principle is similar to that of upgrading HSPA to WCDMA.
While WiMAX advanced (IEEE 802.16m) is the upgraded version of WiMAX, which is dominated by Intel of the United States. The maximum receiving rate of downlink and uplink can reach 300mbps, and the receiving at stationary fixed point can reach 1Gbps / s. It is also the 4G standard recognized by the Telecommunication Union.
In fact, the LTE we are currently in contact with is not 4G network. Although the speed of hundreds of megabytes is far higher than that of 3G network, it is still far from the 4G technical requirements of 1Gbps / s proposed by ITU. Therefore, the current LTE is often referred to as 3.9G. But for now, now4G network in fact refers to LTE network.
LTE has formed many branches according to its specific implementation details, technical means and differences between R & D organizations. The two main branches are lte-tdd and lte-fdd versions. The TD-LTE adopted by China Mobile is the lte-tdd version, which is developed and promoted by China, while the latter is developed and promoted by the United States.
TD-LTE is the >base station antenna for mobile communication</a> fourth generation (4G) mobile communication technology and standard jointly developed by Alcatel lucent, Nokia Siemens communication, Datang Telecom, Huawei Technology, ZTE and China Mobile.
TD-LTE has nothing to do with TD-SCDMA. TD-SCDMA is CDMA (code division multiple access) technology, and TD-LTE is OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) technology. They are not the same in terms of coding and decoding, frame format, air port, signaling, and network architecture.
Introduction to fdd-lte
and FDD in lte-fdd means frequency division duplex, which is one of the two duplex modes supported by the technology. LTE with FDD (frequency division duplex) is fdd-lte. Due to the differences in wireless technology, frequency band and the interests of various manufacturers, fdd-ltE's standardization and industrial development are ahead of tdd-lte. At present, fdd-lte has become the most widely used 4G standard in the world. According to the latest data survey, there are 285 operators deployed FDD 4G networks in more than 93 countries in 2013.
The characteristic of FDD mode is that the system receives and transmits on two symmetrical frequency channels separated (the frequency interval between uplink and downlink is 190mhz), and the receiving and transmitting channels are separated by guaranteed frequency band. At the same time, FDD also uses packet switching technology, which can break through the bottleneck of the development of the second generation, realize high-speed data services, improve the spectrum utilization and increase the system capacity.
FDD working principle
frequency division duplex (FDD) and time division duplex (TDD) are two different duplex modes. FDD is to receive and transmit on two separate symmetrical frequency channels, and the receiving and transmitting channels are separated by guard band. Therefore, FDD must use paired frequencies to distinguish uplink and downlink, and its unidirectional resources are continuous in time. In terms of advantages, FDD can make full use of the uplink and downlink spectrum when supporting symmetric services, but the spectrum utilization will be greatly reduced when supporting asymmetric services.
The principle of TDD is
while TDD uses time to separate the receiving and transmitting channels. In TDD mobile communication system, different time slots of the same frequency carrier are used as channels for receiving and transmittingThe resources in one direction are discontinuous in time, and the time resources are allocated in two directions. The base station sends signals to the mobile station in a certain period of time, and the mobile station sends signals to the base station at the other time. The base station and the mobile station must cooperate to work smoothly.
Compared with TDD, FDD has advantages and disadvantages:
1. FDD must use a pair of transmit and receive frequencies. It can make full use of the spectrum of uplink and downlink when supporting symmetric services represented by voice. However, when the asymmetric data exchange service represented by IP is carried out, the utilization rate of spectrum is greatly reduced, which is about 60% of that of symmetric service. However, TDD does not need a pair of frequencies. The communication network can flexibly change the switching points of the uplink and downlink according to the actual situation, which can effectively improve the spectrum utilization of the system when transmitting asymmetric services.
2. According to the requirements of ITU for 3G, the maximum mobile speed of FDD mode system can reach 500 km / h, while that of TDD mode is only 12 km / h. This is because the current TDD system in chip processing speed and algorithm is still not up to a higher standard.
3. For the TDD mode system, the uplink and downlink work at the same frequency. The consistency of its radio wave transmission makes it suitable for smart antenna technology, which can effectively reduce multipath interference and improve the reliability of equipment. However, the FDD system with a certain frequency interval is difficult to use. It is estimated that the base station equipment cost of TDD system is higher than that of FDD systemThe cost is about 20% - 50% lower.
4. In terms of anti-interference, FDD can eliminate the interference between the base stations in the adjacent cellular area and the base stations in this area. The anti-interference performance of FDD system is better than that of TDD system to a certain extent.
conclusion: TD-LTE and FDD LTE have less technical differences and more commonalities, both of which can provide mobile users with more than the previous mobile Internet access experience. In the 3G era, the absolute advantage of FDD in the field of mobile communication has become a foregone conclusion. There is little chance for China's TD-SCDMA international development, while TD-LTE has been synchronized with other international mainstream standards since the standard formulation. In order to ensure that TD-LTE technology and standard evolution, network and terminal industry development, network construction and operation continue to maintain a leading position, it is necessary to form a global industry integrated with LTE FDD and develop synchronously to narrow the gap in market scale.
