I’m quite curious to know who the “dangerous friends” who made Luna’s attire might be…and the special properties with which said garments could be imbued, since Vanitas emphasizes that Amelia should use a particular type of fabric to “mend the gloves and the cloak.” 🤔

Back in Mémoire 49, Luna mentions that “families of alchemists and magicians” tend to have amicable relationships with vampires; perhaps the clothes were provided by one such group of mortals?

"I am fed up with Luna's prounouns's discourse saying the fandom and the character misgender them. It's clear that Luna being non gendered as more to do with the plot than gender identity since them being neither male or female allows them to fill the lack of fatherfigure for Misha and the lack of mother figure for Vanitas. This keeps reminding me of stupid discourse just because the translation uses them to translate the neutral pronouns in jpn that can be used in any context. Headcanons are fine, but don't push it please and in Luna's case, it's clear you can refer to her as a she or he or they because they are intented to be seen as that : a creature whose identity depends on how they are perceived."

It's no secret that I've been absolutely enamored with Luna since the first reveal of Memoire 49, and I absolutely agree with the Shapeless One,they truly are the most beautiful creature in the world 💙. I'm somewhat more satisfied than last I drew them!

Wasn’t Misha and Vanitas being injected with VOTBM’S blood also described as making them an unstable existence or something along those lines?

And eventually the world or the World Formula would catch onto the aberration and essentially erase them and that’s why they were going to die unless they found a cure of some sort (or accepted Luna’s offer of making them kin as that would help stablize them for now but ultimately fully change them into something else).

I haven't seen anyone else point it out yet, but this line has to be alluding to something important, right?

I can't think of any context in which the description of "unstable existence" could apply to a normal vampire like Noé or Dominique, but we have seen talk of "stabilizing existence" back with Naenia in Gévaudan.

There's no way to know what's wrong yet, but something is *up* with Teacher. And based on "how long have you been like that," it's possibly a newer problem that he's developed since the last time he saw the lady Archiviste.

I finally got around to finishing The Case Study of Vanitas and I'm in love

I just talked about this on Twitter but —

You ever think about how interesting it is that Vanitas (and the Vampire of the Blue Moon) are accented with silver (including the hourglass charm in the manga version), which is supposed to be a weakness for vampires in most vampiric lore.

Silver is often used as a symbol of purity which often makes it an effective tool in lore against many supernatural beings (such as vampires, werewolves, undead, etc.) and it was considered a naturally occurring solution to getting rid of these problems. That’s why silver bullets work on werewolves and the undead can be kept back with silver.

With vampires, silver is said to burn and paralyze them in a lot of lore. Despite its frequency the actual effectiveness of silver on vampires can range from being enough to kill them from the burning purity of the metal to effects similar to a bad allergic reaction. Overall, the effects are not as bad as sunlight but can still be effective to deter them.

Most commonly, silver was used to bind and entrap vampires until they could be killed with other means (if the silver itself isn’t enough). A convenient trap and a way to hurt them all in one.

Similarly, silver is also why vampires often wouldn’t reflect in mirrors due to it being used as the base of a mirror’s reflective properties. Basically, they were too “impure” to show on the “pure” metal.

I say all this because I wonder if these properties are why Luna, Vanitas, and even Misha have silver accents and accessories. Because with their association with the Blue Moon, they’re supposed to be the destruction of vampires in the series. Or at least according to their world’s lore.

Because to vampires, silver is deadly.

Bonus:

Also, correct me if I’m wrong but even with all the vampire nobility we’ve seen, while they were other precious metals and jewels, I can’t recall anyone who wore silver. Gold most certainly, and probably what’s meant to be bronze.

But I think silver has been reserved for the Blue Moon Clan.
