so for anyone unfamiliar, this is from the first two chapters of my volo/oc fic, "pick a god (and pray)" ft. post reveal volo being pushed down the trail to the temple, breaking his nose, and getting tied up and hauled back to jubilife (lose my mind for that every time)

BUT more than anything i wanted to do this ever since Hozier's "Unknown/nth" (referring to the ninth circle of hell) bc its so steeped in betrayal and love and heartbreak and still managing to build something new from what remains
