Jacqueline Onassis attends a meeting at Grand Central Station aimed at fighting against its demolition. She became one of the most prominent New Yorkers who organized to save Grand Central. January 31st, 1975.

These six Ziegfeld Girls insisted on having their lunch in their bathing suits, June 5, 1925. The girls—Mildred Lunney, Margy Martin, Helen Sheldon, Catherine Frey, Bobbie Powers, and Edith Babson—went from rehearsal to Keen's Chop House attired only in their beachwear. Paul Henkel, the manager of the restaurant, strenuously objected, claiming they were not properly dressed. Henkel was asked when he had become a censor of women's wear. After much discussion, in which the rest of the diners voted in favor of the girls, they were served.

One of our favorite pieces of artwork depicting a part of our grand rail system is featured here on the cover of a promotional pamphlet full of activities and information for people visiting New York courtesy of us. The New York Central Building was our headquarters until the bitter end, and it is rendered beautifully here dominating park avenue. It is (illegitimately) called The Helmsley Building today. On the table of contents a banner image containing the New York Central Mercury, a streamlined 4-6-2 introduced in 1936.
