Anyways Asha died and so this was a bit of a send-off for a character I’ve been playing for 3 years. please watch it!

Marmont about Eugène Beauharnais
In his first mention of Eugène in volume 2 of his memoirs, Marmont's assessment is already quite condescending:
From there I went to Milan to see Eugène Beauharnais, who exercised the functions of viceroy of Italy. He had just married a princess of Bavaria of the greatest beauty, a model of gentleness and virtue. One must be the object of heaven's predilection to find such a woman, so accomplished in every way, when one is married through political schemes. Eugène devoted himself ardently to the performance of his duties.
I kind of feel with Marmont here. His own marriage had been so unhappy, despite having been a love match at the beginning, that he probably cannot help but see it as unfair that somebody – in his view – so mediocre as Eugène, who had married for political reasons only, should have become so happy with his wife.
Of course, a happy marriage is not something that simply happens. It also requires a lot of work, of respect, trust and mutual regard, and working through difficult times as well, from both sides (Right, Soult?). So, while Auguste may have been a very different personality than Marmont’s wife, she surely was not the only one responsible for making this household a success.
He was a kind young man with a limited but sensible mind. His military skills were mediocre, but he was not lacking in bravery. His contact with the Emperor had developed his faculties; he had acquired what is almost always given by great and important functions exercised at an early age, but he was always far from possessing the talent necessary for the role with which he was entrusted.
Still reeling about the fact you had been under Eugène’s command, I see.
He has been praised far too much; above all, he has been touted for his devotion and loyalty during the crisis of 1814. These alleged talents were limited to a very mediocre campaign, and this much-vaunted loyalty resulted in doing just the opposite of what had been prescribed, and precisely what was needed to ensure the downfall of the edifice that collapsed so spectacularly. He had deluded himself about his position; he had believed in the possibility of an independent sovereign existence, but few days were enough to disabuse him of this belief. He had built on clouds. I will talk about him again in detail and in such a way as to fix posterity's opinion of him.
This "in detail" will then be the story abbout Eugène’s alleged betrayal in 1814.
I guess from Marmont’s perspective (whose military record is not exactly stellar either) it was inconceivable that somebody who made so little fuss about himself as Eugène could have even the least bit of talent. At all. As he says a bit further down:
Notre métier est un métier d'amour-propre - Our profession is a profession of ego.
So, obviously, no ego => no talent. Et voilà.
Also interesting that nothing but Eugène’s military talents (or lack thereof) are even mentioned, considering Marmont’s detailed descriptions of his own work as gouverneur in Dalmatia.

“Must you go? Maybe one drink more?”
“I have to leave, I afraid. The Dark Council awaits.”
“Try not to get too bored without me.”
“My dear, any room without you in it is boring. But I’ll survive.”
Love the idea of Viess being a Dark Councilman and Asha gets to be a trophy wife. Love my Lesbians.

The High Republic: Shadows of Starlight 4 (Canon)
"The High Republic: Shadows of Starlight 4" is the fourth and final issue of the 2023 comic miniseries Star Wars: The High Republic: Shadows of Starlight, written by Charles Soule, illustrated by David Messina, and published by Marvel Comics on January 3, 2024.
The way Abediah Viess unveils her collection of lightsabers displayed inside her cloak to Marchion Ro reminds me so much of General Grievous.

It really bothers me that General Viess, a member of a terrorist organization, has the traditional Mirilian headcovering but Vern, an incredibly heroic character (and the Mirilian portrayed in the best light) not only doesn’t wear the head covering but is very white coded (between being played by a white actress in The Acolyte and her Defy the Storm cover art being based on Kiersten Stewart), for a part of Star Wars that has the best track record of diversity it’s disappointing to see them fumble Muslim(-coded) representation this hard (especially when Vern could’ve easily been used to help rectify what happened with Barriss)
