→StreamerVi! started streaming as a hobby. She figured it would make gaming feel less lonely and unproductive. She had friends she would play with occasionally but on the days they weren’t able to game together she feared she was wasting the evening away. Playing with no one, to no one, yelling into the abyss, celebrating a win to herself. It was lonely, and she hated the feeling that made her feel she was being unproductive. Even though deep down she knows that indulging herself in something she enjoys is never a waste or ‘lazy’.

→When she started gaining traction/viewers she was genuinely surprised. She didn’t think she was THAT entertaining. Her viewers enjoyed her reactions that seemed so genuine. Enjoying her rage, shock, tears of sadness and of laughter. Her overreactions to angering situations within the games made her fans cackle with her creative sling of words she spat at the computer. "I can't believe you guys like to watch this. I mean I appreciate y'all tuning in, but I do hope you guys are in therapy."

→StreamerVi! mainly plays action games but she enjoys a cozy game every now and again. Finding the stimulation of the fighting and fast paced scenes more enjoyable typically compared to the relaxation of cozier games. Though she finds herself indulging in Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley in her off time.

→StreamerVi! Was bad at Minecraft. Not that she would ever agree with that statement. Her fans aren’t sure why she’s so bad at it. She’s usually amazing at fighting and surviving in games like that. It’s mainly the building she’s not great at. Her houses were made out of dirt, wood if she’s able to obtain that much, and were shittily built cubes. She tries to make more intricate things but her brain short circuits and she’ll eventually break it down and make another dirt cube in its place. As long as her house has a bed, crafting table, anvil and furnace, she’s set.

→StreamerVi! would have an intricate story line on her Sims game that gets progressively more confusing as it goes on. “God, Shelley is such an idiot. I know I created her but Jesus. How the fuck did she end up burning the house down? I didn’t even know you could do that in Sims! First, she ruins her marriage by cheating on Esteban. Then, she loses her daughter? Still no clue where she went. Lastly, she burns the house down? That’s why I didn’t let her go to college… On second thought, maybe that’s why she’s doing all this.”

→Her Sims characters are her babies, for sure. She cries for ten minutes straight when one dies. She’ll walk off camera and you can hear sniffling off camera before she walks back in. “Okay, how can I make them haunt the house? I know they can do it. I will pay any amount of money to have that happen.”

→StreamerVi! would put up a poll on what games to play next on her stream and would put a joke game on there that would end up getting the most votes. So now she’s stuck playing some weird simulator game that lags constantly and is crashing every 5 minutes. “Who the fuck would make a dish washing simulator? I’m doing chores as a video game? That’s fucking boring. Why did you guys have to pick this one? Do you hate me? Be honest."

→StreamerVi! is a rage quitter. 100%. She would scream and smack her headset down on the table, walking away from her PC fully. Leaving the stream for almost a full minute to take deep breaths. “I may have overreacted a bit. Maybe. That boss is still a bitch, what the fuck even is that?”

→She would sit down back at her desk and stare into the camera, hands in a fist resting over her mouth in embarrassment. “Guys, pretend that didn’t happen.” She would boot up the game to retry and be done five minutes later when she still couldn’t beat whatever it is she couldn’t win. “Okay, that’s it. I’m done. Fuck this game. See you tomorrow stream, I’m going to go take a deep breath and touch some fucking grass.”

→StreamerVi! drunk streams... already drunk when streaming or getting drunk on stream. She's done both. It doesn't happen often but when it does it a nice treat of chaos. Slurring, hiccupping and hearty laughter that echoes thoughout her whole apartment. The fans love it.

→StreamerVi!’s desk is probably messy. It’s not overly messy but she definitely has a few cups littered around, and old takeout containers from her 8 hour long streams. She cleans it frequently. She just spends so much time sitting over that desk, hunched over in uncomfortable positions, that it gets messy the second it’s cleaned. She eventually puts a trash can and a tub for dirty dishes right next to her desk to prevent clutter. It takes one time spilling water all over her keyboard for her to implement something to help.

→StreamerVi! would cackle at her own jokes while everybody in her chat groaned. “That was a good one! I’m such a funny guy. You don’t get it, guys. And that’s fine, you don’t see the vision. Stop calling me lame! I am not lame! I’m hilarious. You guys are the lame ones. You’re watching me, someone you claim is lame, so what does that mean about you? Yeah exactly, lame-o’s” They would also groan at her use of the word ‘Lame-o’.

→StreamerVi! fell asleep on live one time and has never lived it down. She streams for so long and she’ll just fall asleep waiting for a cut scene to end. Head propped up on her arm, lulling over with every breath. Her hand would slip causing her head to fall and smack against her keyboard, the brand new one she got after ruining the other one with the spilled water. She would jolt awake and stare at her screen in horror, reading the chat coming in faster than normal. “Is she… sleeping?” “She fucking dead.” “Awww, she looks like a sleepy puppy.” “Why is her mouth hanging open like that?? Is she drooling?? Y’all oh my god” “Literally, what the fuck.” She reads her chat and sighs deeply. “Guys. I must go. I’m so sorry.” She would hit the ‘end live’ button and immediately scream out of embarrassment. “They will never let me live this shit down. Fuck fuck fuck.”

→ And her fans don’t. “Waiting for her to fall asleep every time at this point.” “It was one time!!” It annoys the fuck out of her, but she appreciates her fans so she doesn’t mind the stupid jokes.

→StreamerVi! has a strict streaming schedule and she is ALWAYS on time. She sits at her desk 5 minutes before time, ‘Go Live’ button staring at her. Anxiously scrolling on her phone until the clock hits 5pm. Streaming for the past 3 years has been all she knows, yet the anxiety she feels before beginning is intense every single time.

→Anxiety melts away within seconds of hitting the dreaded button. Chats streaming in of various ‘hello’s and ‘missed you’s.

→StreamerVi! probably streams more than just games as well. She enjoys vlogging when she’s out and about doing random stuff, like when she’s travelling and trying new foods. “Okay, what am I about to put in my mouth? If you know, please tell me, because I’m lost.”

→StreamerVi! loved the spontaneous streams sometimes more than gaming streams. They were low pressure and less chaotic.

→She would do mundane things around her house when streaming as well. “You’re coming with me to dye my hair. I need help doing the back.” While dying it she would turn around and ask chat if she missed any pieces. They were unhelpful, as always. “You suck at this.” “Uhhhh bestie, you missed a few chunks ngl” “Does she have nobody irl who can help her with this?? Wtf are we supposed to do?” She would roll her eyes at her chat’s unhelpful responses. “I can’t even tell if you guys are being truthful anymore. You all hate me. I have friends! I’m just not bothering them with it! You guys could help! You just don’t want to! What parts did I even miss??” She eventually would facetime somebody to help her find the missing pieces.

→COOKING STREAMS!!!

→She loves to cook on stream! She enjoys the company when cooking. Although chat has definitely distracted her a few times and she’s burnt things because of it. “FUCK! Guys! Why did no one say anything about the literal pan on fire behind me?” She would run the pan over to the sink, throwing it in and quickly turning the water on. Snuffing the fire out. “The pan was in frame the whole time and we were chatting! I know at least one of you saw it! I even said ‘why does it smell like something burning?’ and none of you decided to say anything? You guys want me to die?” She often finds herself lecturing her fanbase as if she were their father. “Dad Vi back at it again with the lecturing.” “oohh we’re in trouble this time.” “Are we grounded?”

→StreamerVi! would start streaming less often and get interrogated in her chat. “Where have you been??” “She’s got a girlfriend, guys. Look at her glowing. We’re so cooked.” Vi would scoff at their invasive questions. “I don’t have a girlfriend! I mean… Okay. Yes, I am seeing somebody but they’re not my girlfriend!” She would defend, growing redder the longer she goes on. Not convincing anybody. “Vi lovers. We’re fucked. We lost our chance.” “No offense guys! But none of you had a chance. I’ve just been busy… ANYWAYS! So today’s game…” she would change the subject, afraid she was going to hard launch a relationship that wasn’t even official.

→StreamerVi! would casually drop the word ‘partner’ every now and again after a while. Accepting that she would never convince anybody that she wasn’t seeing someone. She was and she’s not a liar.

→Chat would go CRAZYYY. Demanding to meet her partner. “You lecture us like you’re our dad all the time, and suddenly you don’t want to introduce us to your partner??” She gets what her fanbase is saying, but it ultimately depends on what the girlfriend says. Not her.

→StreamerVi! would beg everybody to be nice when she finally does introduce you to her stream. “Guys, be nice. Don’t be mean like you are to me.” Her fans are offended. “We’re so nice!!” “So this is how you treat people who pay your rent?” “Dad Vi again.”

→StreamerVi!’s fans are nicer to you than to her. “SO pretty!” “How did VI!!! Bag you????” “no offense but she’s out of your league vi.”

→StreamerVi! Is only a little jealous. “So you guys hate me and love them? Well maybe they can just have my channel and I’ll retire since y’all hate me so much.” She’s the ultimate pouter. And pouts even more when chat is seemingly chill with that idea. “Ok! Best idea you’ve had thus far!” “yippee!” She mutes chat after that.

→You make sporadic appearances on her channel every now and again. Often enough that you’re a ‘recurring character’ on her streams. Her fans love seeing you. Eventually you make your own streaming channel. But you only stream like once a month and it’s usually with Vi there. It’s not your thing as much as it’s hers. And you don’t want to take that away from her.

→StreamerVi! Doesn’t tell her viewers that she proposed to you. They just happened to catch a glimpse at the engagement rings in various streams over time. “YOO IS THAT WHAT I THINK IT IS??” “Vi and Y/N engagement era”

→StreamerVi! Keeps a majority of her personal life secret from her viewers. It’s not that she doesn’t trust them with the information of most of her friends or family, or what she does for a living outside of streaming. She just enjoys having that still be private. It’s the small things after getting an online fanbase. She appreciates her fans but they don’t need to know anything. Like the day you guys get married. That’s for her, you and attendees. But, she posts photos from that day whenever she can. One of her top favorite days of her life for sure.

→StreamerVi! Loves this life she’s miraculously gained. The fans that bully her, the friends she’s made, the games she’s played that she might not have if it weren’t for the viewers pressuring her, and you.

[JK] My first job was as an Assistant Producer for a video game company called Interplay in Irvine, CA. I had recently graduated from Boston University's School of Fine Arts with an MFA in Directing (I started out as a theatre nerd), but also had some limited coding experience and a passion for computers. It didn't look like I'd be able to make a living directing plays, so I decided to combine entertainment and technology (before it was cool!) and pitched myself to Brian Fargo, Interplay's CEO. He gave me my first break. I packed up and moved out west, and I've been producing games ever since.

[JK] I loved my time at EA. I was there for almost a full decade, and learned a tremendous amount about game-making, and met the most talented and driven people, who I remain in touch with today. EA gave me many opportunities, and never stopped betting on me. I worked on The Sims for nearly 5 years, and then afterwards, I worked on console action games as part of the Visceral studio. I was the Creative Director for the 2007 game "The Simpsons", and was the Executive Producer and Creative Director for the 2009 game "Dante's Inferno".

[JK] I haven't played in a long while, but I do recall that after the game shipped, my wife and I played the retail version for some time -- we created ourselves, and experimented with having a baby ahead of the actual birth of our son (in 2007). Even though I'd been part of the development team, and understood deeply how the simulation worked, I was still continually surprised at how "real" our Sims felt, and how accurate their responses were to having a baby in the house. It really felt like "us"!

Now for some of the development and lore related questions:

[JK] So I ended up in the incredibly fortunate position of creating the shipping neighborhoods for The Sims 2, and recruiting a few teammates to help me as we went along.

Around the same time, we started using the Buy/Build tools to make houses we could save, and also bring them into each new build of the game (correcting for any bugs and incompatibilities). With the import tool, we could load Sims into these houses. In time, this "vanguard QA" process turned into a creative endeavor to define the "saved state" of the neighborhoods we would actually end up shipping with the game.

On playtesting & the leftover sims data on various lots:

Basically, we were in the late stages of development, and the Save Game functionality wasn't quite working. In order to test the game properly, you really needed to have a lot of assets, and a lot of Sims with histories (as if you'd been playing them for weeks) to test out everything the game had to offer. So I started defining a set of characters in a spreadsheet, with all their tuning variables, and worked with engineering to create an importer, so that with each new build, I could essentially "load" a kind of massive saved game, and quickly start playing and testing.

It was fairly organic, and as the game's functionality improved, so did our starter houses and families.

The thought process behind the creation of the iconic three neighborhoods:

I would not say it was particularly planned out ahead of time. We knew we needed a few saved houses to ship with the game; Sims 1, after all, had the Goth house, and Bob Newbie's house. But there wasn't necessarily a clear direction for what the neighborhood would be for Sims 2. We needed the game to be far enough along, so that the neighborhood could be a proper showcase for all the features in the game. With each new feature that turned alpha, I had a new tool in my toolbox, and I could expand the houses and families I was working on. Once we had the multi-neighborhood functionality, I decided we would not just have 1 starter neighborhood, but 3. With the Aging feature, Memories, a few wacky objects, plus a huge catalog of architectural and decorative content, I felt we had enough material for 3 truly distinct neighborhoods. And we added a couple of people to what became the "Neighborhood Team" around that time.

Later, when we created Strangetown, and eventually Veronaville, I believe we went back and changed Pleasantville to Pleasantview... because I liked the alliteration of "Verona-Ville", and there was no sense in having two "villes". (To this day, by the way, I still don't know whether to capitalize the "V" -- this was hotly debated at the time!)

Pleasantview:

Anyway, to answer your question, we of course started with Pleasantview. As I recall, we were not quite committed to multiple neighborhoods at first, and I think it was called Pleasantville initially, which was kind of a nod to Simsville... but without calling it Simsville, which was a little too on the nose. (There had also been an ill-fated game in development at Maxis at the time, called SimsVille, which was cancelled.) It's been suggested that Pleasantville referred to the movie, but I don't think I ever saw that movie, and we just felt that Pleasantville kind of captured the feeling of the game, and the relaxing, simple, idyllic world of the Sims.

Pleasantview started as a place to capture the aging feature, which was all new to The Sims 2. We knew we had toddlers, teens, and elders to play with, so we started making families that reflected the various stages of family life: the single mom with 3 young kids, the parents with two teens, the old rich guy with two young gold-diggers, etc. We also had a much greater variety of ethnicity to play with than Sims 1, and we had all new variables like sexual orientation and memories. All these things made for rich fodder for a great diversity of families. Then, once we had family trees, and tombstones that carried the actual data for the dead Sims, the doors really blew open. We started asking ourselves, "What if Bella and Mortimer Goth could be characters in Sims 2, but aged 25 years? And what if Cassandra is grown up? And what if Bella is actually missing, and that could be a fun mystery hanging over the whole game?" And then finally the "Big Life Moments" went into the game -- like weddings and birthdays -- and we could sort of tee these up in the Save Game, so that they would happen within the first few minutes of playing the families. This served both as a tutorial for the features, but also a great story-telling device.

Anyway, it all just flowed from there, as we started creating connections between families, relationships, histories, family trees, and stories that we could weave into the game, using only the simulation features that were available to us. It was a really fun and creative time, and we wrote all of the lore of Sims 2 within a couple of months, and then just brought it to life in the game.

Strangetown:

Strangetown was kind of a no-brainer. We needed an alternate neighborhood for all the paranormal stuff the Sims was known for: alien abduction, male pregnancy, science experiments, ghosts, etc. We had the desert terrain, which created a nice contrast to the lush Pleasantville, and gave it an obvious Area 51 vibe.

The fact that Veronaville is the oldest file probably reflects the fact that it was finished first, not that it was started first. That's my guess anyway. It was the simplest neighborhood, in many ways, and didn't have as much complexity in terms of features like staged big life moments, getting the abduction timing right, the alien DNA thing (which I think was somewhat buggy up until the end), etc. So it's possible that we simply had Veronaville "in the can", while we put the last polish on Pleasantville (which was the first and most important neighborhood, in terms of making a good impression) and Strangeville (which was tricky technically).

Veronaville:

But my personal favorite was Veronaville. We had this cool Tudor style collection in the Build mode catalog, and I wanted to ship some houses that showed off those assets. We also had the teen thing going on in the aging game, plus a lot of romance features, as well as enemies. I have always been a Shakespeare buff since graduate school, so putting all that together, I got the idea that our third neighborhood should be a modern-day telling of the Romeo and Juliet story. It was Montys and Capps (instead of Montagues and Capulets), and it just kind of wrote itself. We had fun creating the past family trees, where everyone had died young because they kept killing each other off in the ongoing vendetta.

[JK] You know, I have never seen The Lone Gunmen, and I don't remember making any kind of direct references with the Strangetown Sims, other than the general Area 51 theme, as you point out. Charles London helped out a lot with naming Sims, and I'm pretty sure we owe "Vidcund" and "Lazlo" to him ... though many team members pitched in creatively. He may have had something in mind, but for me, I largely went off of very generic and stereotypical ideas when crafting these neighborhoods. I kind of wanted them to be almost "groaners" ... they were meant to be tropes in every sense of the word. And then we snuck in some easter eggs. But largely, we were trying to create a completely original lore.

[JK] Well, I think we kind of pushed it with The Sims 2, to be honest, and I remember getting a little blow-back about Bunny Broke, for example. Bunny Broke was the original name for Brandi Broke. Not everyone found that funny, as I recall, and I can understand that. It must have been changed before we shipped.

We also almost shipped the first outwardly gay Sims in those neighborhoods, which was bold for EA back in 2004. My recollection was that we had set up the Dreamers to be gay (Dirk and Darren), but I'm looking back now and see that's not the case. So I'm either remembering incorrectly (probably) or something changed during development.

In general we just did things that we found funny and clever, and we just pulled from all the tropes of American life.

[JK] The alien abduction started in Sims 1, with a telescope object that was introduced in the "Livin' Large" expansion pack. That's when some of the wackier ideas got introduced into the Sims lore. That pack shipped just before I joined Maxis in 2001; when I got there, the team had shipped "House Party" and was underway on "Hot Date". So I couldn't tell you how the original idea came about, but The Sims had this 50's Americana vibe from the beginning, and UFOs kind of played right into that. So the alien abduction telescope was a no-brainer to bring back in Sims 2. The male pregnancy was a new twist on the Sims 1 telescope thing. It must have been that the new version (Sims 2) gave us the tech and flexibility to have male Sims become pregnant, so while this was turned "off" for the core game, we decided to take advantage of this and make a storyline out of it. I think this really grew out of the fact that we had aliens, and alien DNA, and so it was not complicated to pre-bake a baby that would come out as an alien when born. The idea of a bunch of guys living together, and then one gets abducted, impregnated, and then gives birth to an alien baby ... I mean, I think we just all thought that was hilarious, in a sit-com kind of way. Not sure there was much more to it than that. Everything usually came from the designers discovering ways to tweak and play with the tech, to get to funny outcomes.

[JK] Possibly we were just testing the functionality of the Wants/Fears and Memories systems throughout development, and some stuff got left over.

[JK] I can't remember, but that sounds like something we would have done! I'm pretty sure we laid the groundwork for more stories that we ended up delivering :) But The Sims 2 was a great foundation for a lot of continued lore that followed.

Rules: Master astronaut career (Lvl 7), Complete Chief of Mischief aspiration, master mischief and logic skills, complete the elements collection and have at least one child (more if you choose).

Rules: Master cooking and charisma skills, master the criminal career, complete the Public Enemy aspiration, must live in a cheap starter home (under 12k) for entire young adult life, have twins but only have those two children (you may use cheats for this) and insist on being evil (claim to be a criminal mastermind) but have no one believe you.

Gen 7: Pink

Traits: Neat, Loner, Creative

Aspiration: Best Selling Author

Career: Business

Rules: Complete the postcard collection, master writing and gardening skills, complete the Best Selling Author aspiration, have a well maintained garden, quit day job as an adult to pursue dreams and have at least one child (more if you choose).

Gen 8: Peach

Traits: Foodie, Lazy, Goofball

Aspiration: Joke Star

Career: Secret Agent

Rules: Marry a co-worker, must play an instrument, master gourmet cooking and comedy skills, master the secret agent career, must live in a different world than the one they were raised in and have at least one child (more if you choose). You can choose if you want to complete the aspiration or not.

Gen 9: Green

Traits: Slob, Geek, Cheerful

Aspiration: Computer Whiz

Career: Tech Guru

Rules: Master mixology, programming and video gaming skills, master tech guru career, complete the Computer Whiz aspiration, must accept every invitation to parties/outings with your friends and/or go out or throw a party once a week, have at least five good friends and five enemies and have at least one child (more if you choose).

Gen 10: Blue

Traits: Gloomy, Perfectionist, Family Oriented

Aspiration: Big Happy Family

Career: Painter

Rules: Adopt at least one child, master the cooking, painting and gardening skills, master the painter career, complete the Big Happy Family aspiration, marry your high school sweetheart and stay with them until you die and have a one time secret affair.

For me at least, I make my own husbands with required traits if needed.

arthurtv letting his gf sit on his lap during their streams together and just playing video games together and being all cute

please, this is adorable! i think i have a small blurb on here somewhere that has a really small scene where she goes and sits on his lap during a filming session...

that's what her friends called her whenever they were on a stream on discord during a gaming session. even though she'd been streaming and gaming for a few months now, and knew the ropes on when the best time was to stream for her followers and what games they would enjoy seeing her play, the nickname stuck.

before she met arthur, she worked a normal 9-5 job in a local shop that was a short walk away from her london flat, getting up early in the mornings with a routine planned out for her entire day. but the more and more she was seen in arthur's videos and the more she was featured in his vlogs and the more she appeared on their friends' youtube channels, the more people wanted to see her doing her own thing.

so she took up streaming, where she held gaming nights with the two arthur's and george and chris and where she held nights where she would just waffle about her life to the camera, just to get a feel for it. to see whether she enjoyed it. to see whether it took off or whether it wasn't worth the hassle in changing to her career. coming home after a busy day at work, having dinner, before she disappeared to sit in front of her computer for a couple of hours.

she couldn't shake it off, months later. not that she minded, at all. she found it quite endearing and sweet how she was loved and welcomed into arthur's circle with wide-open arms by his best friends, like she'd always been a part of something special, as if she'd known them her whole life. because the last thing she ever wanted was to be placed as an outsider by his friends, know as just 'arthur's girlfriend' who led her own life and never involved herself as a part of their group or was never included in their plans.

they loved her, and respected her, and that was all that mattered.

and they'd been her biggest supporters from the moment she chose to make streaming and content creation her new career path. they were with her the moment she quit her job, they helped her to create her own gaming setup in her spare room, and they gave her tips and pointers on making videos and editing, giving her as much help as they possibly could to kickstart her new start. and she was incredibly thankful for all of them.

there was something she loved about making money off of having fun with her friends, her boyfriend and her followers. and, as time passed, she felt lucky to have been given the platform she had been given and never took it for granted.

"i'm going to save the last two episodes of this story for the stream tomorrow," yn says to the camera propped up before her, suddenly feeling the hefty weight of the headphones sitting upon her head and she could feel her ears getting hot from the padding, "i think we did good tonight, we completed almost all of it in two hours."

she watched arthur play a couple of episodes of lego star wars on a stream, not too long before, and she found something therapeutic about re-completing a game that she had already played before. how she used to love playing it when she was younger and that it was something nostalgic for her... so she'd asked him to show her how to stream herself playing it which he had no issue with doing.

"i can smell dinner, i think arthur's cooked for me," yn grins at her screen's monitor, her belly rumbling from the wafting scent of some form of seasoned meat in the air, "he's a cutie. in case you haven't realised, this isn't my usual setup."

she took a look behind her and, if people were clever enough, they'd see arthur's setup just behind her in his own spare room.

"arthur created a little space for me in his office so we can game and film videos together sometimes," she grins widely, reading all of the sweet comments that came through on the screen; some vibing with her and how cute arthur could be to others sending in games for them to play together, "he said he had a surprise for me when i came over tonight and he showed me this. i could have cried on the spot."

her eyes glazed over the comments, flowing in constantly, and it was hard for her to keep track of what people were saying.

"maybe we'll do a little setup tour for my youtube," she suggests and shrugs at the camera with a nonchalant grin on her lips, "maybe it'll be with you guys in the next couple of days. maybe not. you'll just have to wait and see."

she closed the game from her monitor and let a blank screen fill the space, her own face appearing in the bottom corner as she prepared to close down the stream for the night.

"same time tomorrow, troops. i'll see you then. love to you all," she blew a kiss to the camera and waved, "bye!"

she made sure everything was closed down before she stood to her feet, sliding her headphones off of her head and hanging them up on their little stand beside her screen, stretching out her back from the aches and the cricks that were forming from her hunched position over the last couple of hours. she tucked her chair back underneath her desk and grabbed her water bottle before leaving the room, into the open space of his living room, which was filled with the smells of something delicious.

she noticed the table was set with plates and cutlery before she saw him standing at his kitchen island, dishing everything into bowls so they could help themselves to however much they fancied that night, pan in his hand as he scooped beef strips into a ceramic bowl.

"good stream?"

"the best," yn grins widely as she took her seat at the table, "we hit 2k viewers about an hour ago."

"oh, that's brilliant," arthur gasps proudly and he supports the most genuine smile on his lips, looking at her as she grins proudly, "i told you you'd get there eventually."

"they loved the setup, too," she smiles, watching as he set the pan down in the sink before he picked up the plate of wraps and the bowl of beef strips, leaving behind the salad on the bar that he was going to go back and pick up once he set his full hands down on the table, "i might have to stream here more often now."

"that was the plan," he admits, setting the bowl and the plate down before he went back to the breakfast, not without passing her by and pressing a kiss to the top of her head, "i'm really proud of you."

"couldn't have done it without you," she says.

he sits down at the table beside her, both of them in a position to see the sun setting over london, painting the surface of the thames with oranges and pinks, the last of the sun shimmering on the windows of the buildings opposite.

"i've got a video to film tonight, do you fancy being a part of it? could do a watch-along together," he suggests, filling up a wrap with beef and some salad, wrapping it all up with a fajita-style fold before he took a hearty bite from the top, "people have been asking for you to make another appearance."

"it's just a short video from reddit about nature and animals," he says and she laughs softly, "what?"

and when it comes to filming, she finds comfort in sitting closer to him as they watch the reddit videos together. she's wrapped in one of his throw blankets, in her comfiest clothes (which was a tee from his wardrobe and a pair of black cycling shorts peeking out from the bottom), settled on his lap with his arm wrapped around her waist to keep her steady on his thighs.

"an orca slapping a dolphin straight out the sea," he reads from the screen and, as the two of them watch nature take its course, they're both completely enamoured by the scene before them, "oh, jeez. the amount of air that thing gets is insane."

"they're the bullies of the ocean," yn adds and she remembers arthur saying something like that previously, when they'd been cuddled up in bed with a documentary about the ocean playing as they wound down for the night, "i bet that was an incredible thing to witness happen though. being that close to a dolphin seems amazing but to be that close to an orca, too? it's a bonus, a two in one special."

"have you ever seen a dolphin?"

she shakes her head and cranes her head to look at him, "never. it's on my bucket list though. that and to see the whales off the coast of gibraltar."

"maybe we'll take a trip," he says, "one day. i think i'd love to see that, too."

she leans back a little more comfortably on his lap, her back resting against his front as she brings her knees to her chest, tightening the blanket around her body to keep her from being too exposed to the camera and to keep her a little warmer, his arm helping to bring her closer to him.

"that was probably his killer instincts coming out though," yn explains and arthur cocks an eyebrow, confused, at her, "what?"

"they don't eat dolphins?"

"they do," she nods and he's genuinely surprised by her little bit of knowledge on orca's and their food chain, "they don't just eat seals and penguins, arthur. they eat dolphins and other sea creatures, too."

Ranking the Jock Studio Love Interests, Take 2

I judged the jocks after the first demo, so now it's only fitting that I do the same based on the second. This one comes with quite a bit of character content even on top of the introduction of Jock Studio's various minigames and resource management systems, and perhaps unsurprisingly all this new material has caused my personal rankings to shift around some.

I still won't be including Ace or the two NPCs. Ace is still a hilarious MC but is fairly unremarkable in explicit scenes, being as adaptable to his partners as characters in that role typically are. Jacques gets to be delightfully campy and now has some mystery surrounding him and the clearly illicit nature of the club, while Matt seems to be straight but is also leaning toward bicurious and does get a shirtless scene if you can find it. Neither is developed enough to rank alongside the main jocks, though.

Beware of spoilers for the second demo, which just got its wide release today...although this is all still prerelease content so there's nothing too revealing. What is revealing however is the demo's artwork, which contains almost nothing in the way of individual character CGs that are at all SFW. Working around that to get images for this post was a bit of a challenge, although not a bad one to have by any means.

#6. Avan - down from #3

The biggest drop for me, because the second demo doesn't do all that much with Avan - and what it does, I'm not especially into. Contrary to my earlier predictions, Avan is clearly riffing on the trope of people in positions of authority secretly being huge subs. He's actually the most submissive of the jocks in this demo, and gets off on Ace taking the lead in explicit scenes and ordering him around. Also nipple play, which...eh.

But more than that, Avan gets stuck playing the straight man (no pun intended) to the antics of the other jocks and especially Yuuto, which cuts into his entertainment value a good deal. The suggestion that his character development will take the form of him admitting that he's just as much of a horny pervert as Ace or Yuuto doesn't seem all that interesting, and most of his student council business remains mysteriously offscreen so it's tough to dig into. Possibly he'll play a role in some overarching storyline involving whatever underhanded stuff Jacques might be up to regarding the legitimacy of the club, but at this point there's just not that much to enjoy about him if you're not into uptight wet twinks.

#5. Leo - up from #6

The bump isn't wholly on account of Avan dropping, because while I'm still not into his vibe sexually Leo gets some good shades of character development in this demo. It leans more on his nerdy interests as a gamer and computer science major, and it also plays up his tendency to overextend himself which manifests itself in one scene in a way that works in the game's energy mechanic. There's also the very brief suggestion that Leo had a difficult home life, one of the rare instances of any of these guys referencing their families.

He's also noted to be the only virgin in the club aside from Ace, so their explicit scenes play up their mutual inexperience. Leo is not at all shy about leaping into sex however, which I do appreciate at least a bit even if the overall package isn't really my type.

#4. Yuuto- up from #5

Yuuto seems to be slowly growing on me, even if he's just as random and hyperactive as before. His fourth-wall-leaning quips about acting like a character in a video game land better in a demo that's more about mechanical features, and with more dialogue there's more opportunities to pull humor out of his malapropisms. It's not just weird English and puns around Jacques' name either; at one point he manages to fuse a Japanese expression with a Spanish one and presumably ruin both of them in the process.

I am though picking up on another rather curious element of Yuuto's character, one I recognize from its appearance in one of the love interests of Camp Buddy. For lack of a better way to describe it, it's as though the devs want to explore pup play scenarios but aren't into the gear and the explicit kink dynamic that comes with that. Like the CB character, Yuuto is messy, hates bathing, has an affinity for literal dogs, and even has the exposed canine teeth that I suppose have to mean something in anime art styles. His version of the blowjob scene that closes out the demo even has him giving head on all fours, with Ace directing him like an overactive pup in need of discipline. I can't be the only person who can see that, right?

#3. Bryce - down from #1

There's no question that Bryce delivers the horny goods, as his scenes both explicit and otherwise draw ample attention to his bushy, musky armpits and well-developed ass and pecs. Humorously, because the demo ends with a blowjob and never ventures into anal, Bryce is the only character whose ass gets any kind of attention in explicit scenes - even over the more obviously submissive Avan and Leo.

But as a character...oof. Bryce's open, unrelenting homophobia is increasingly painful when it's no longer a one-on-one thing but instead has him casually dropping slurs in group settings. I get that the other characters can't call him out on that in a big way for the moment because he has to go through his development, but it's still tough to take him at face value as merely a grumpy asshole who doesn't want to be a team player. Worse, this demo offers no real hints at why Bryce is so desperate for cash that he's gone gay4pay, or touches on why he's so violently closeted beyond abstract references to the homophobia of his frat brothers and wrestling teammates. And since all of those guys exist purely offscreen, that means the only tangible source of homophobia in the demo is Bryce himself. He's definitely a character in need of a full-length storyline to make him actually palatable.

#2. Zayne - up from #4

Alright, I can admit that Zayne has more or less wooed me. He's far and away the most romantically-inclined of the jocks, and while that's accompanied by a teasing insincerity it does help him stand out from the crowd. There's still a good bit of mystery surrounding his character, particularly in a comment after his blowjob scene where he calls it his "first" but then doesn't elaborate, but unlike Avan's student council business or Bryce's bigotry the surface level here is pretty appealing on its own. Is Zayne already catching feels for Ace, or is he newly exploring his bisexuality so Ace was the first guy to give him head? We can only speculate for now.

The suave romantic Dom angle translates readily into his sex scenes, even if I didn't find them to be especially noteworthy for the most part. He is I'm fairly sure the only one of the jocks to have his being uncut worked into an explicit scenario, even if he's not the only uncut guy in the cast.

#1. Derek - up from #2

Derek's vibes continue to be just what I'm typically looking for in a dating sim love interest, above and beyond his being the biggest guy with the biggest dick. Props for not making Ace deepthroat him during his first blowjob. Derek is still the gentle giant soft Dom, and even though like Avan he's frequently made to play the straight man (again, no pun intended) to the rest of the group he goes along a little more readily with the other characters' silliness so he comes off as less stuffy. He's also amenable to Ace directing softcore daddy kink dialogue toward him; twenty-four is young for a daddy, of course, but then daddies are always relative.

But what really cements Derek's place at the top for me is a surprisingly revealing optional scene where he admits that Ace reminds him of someone he used to know who went to the university. This guy is likely part of Derek's reservations with the adult film industry, and why he's so protective toward Ace in particular. I really wasn't expecting a character reveal of this level from any of the jocks in this demo, and having seen just about everything in this one I'm now actually a bit disappointed that none of the others get anything truly equivalent. That just makes Derek more endearing however: the raw sex appeal of Bryce combined with the smoother romantic appeal of Zayne, at least for me. Naturally if twinks are more your speed Derek may not rate as highly.

Bonus Round: Jock Pairings

And we're not done! The second demo surprised me again by working in elements of three of the nine community-chosen jock pairings that will get erotic CGs as part of the game's stretch goals and may also work into another stretch goal of allowing you to play matchmaker and pair up the characters with each other rather than just with Ace. That's one of the features I've been most excited about, so I really liked the inclusion here. These three pairs show up in several group scenes throughout the demo, with each one additionally getting an optional individual scene during the one free day. The following rankings are based mostly off those free day encounters since they're the best at establishing these characters' dynamics, but I'm taking into account the rest as well.

#3. Derek/Bryce

No, I'm not ranking them last because I want them both to myself. This is some prime beef-on-beef fantasy territory, and Ace's internal monologue does its best to sell their dynamic as Derek domming an unusually receptive Bryce.

The problem, though, is that the dialogue doesn't really bear that out. One of the things I like most about these jock pairings is that they present an opportunity to show off sides of the characters that might not come out in their interactions with the MC. But that's not present here, and it's instead just more of the same: Derek as the levelheaded mentor figure, and Bryce as the abrasive jerk who begrudgingly accepts someone else's attention.

Bryce's personality being what it is, this pair is unsurprisingly the only one of these three to not come off even slightly romantic, and that's liable to be the case for any of his relationships until late in his character development. It's also disappointing to see Derek, who as mentioned is protective of Ace for ambiguous backstory reasons and elsewhere takes up the mantle of Team Dad for the whole group, not even attempting to call out Bryce for how rudely he talks to and about the other club members. Sure, when these two get around to fucking it'll be undeniably hot...but having to put up with Bryce until he finally gets over himself is going to be a chore no matter who he's paired with.

As a minor plus, this scene also confirms that Bryce has some belly fat he wants to get rid of even if he refuses to change his diet or cut back on the booze. If you're into guys with a gut, that's about as good as you're going to get from this game.

#2. Avan/Yuuto

The established relationship pair, essentially, as they're roommates with an obvious odd couple dynamic. Avan's the long-suffering responsible one, while Yuuto's the agent of chaos. I've even seen people saying that they feel like they're breaking this pair up if they have Ace go after either of them. I don't think that's quite true, especially after seeing both of them in action in their explicit scenes and knowing that Avan is super submissive and Yuuto desperately needs to be collared and leashed...but hey, alpha pups exist so it's not wholly implausible.

Anyway, this pairing does contribute to my perception of Avan being one of the more boring jocks in the second demo. The biggest thing it adds to his character is showing that he's more reserved around Ace, as Yuuto is quick to proclaim that Avan normally sleeps naked and bathes with him and that the two are basically friends with benefits already. It's funny in the moment purely from how outlandish it all is, but it's going to take some development before we get to see Avan properly cutting loose. As for Yuuto...Avan is pretty much the only thing keeping him from dying of his own flagrant disregard for personal hygiene or getting arrested for indecent exposure, so that's nice I suppose. At least unlike Derek and Bryce I can see a path to a gradually developing relationship here.

#1. Zayne/Leo

Right from the start, these two are astonishingly cute for a side pairing.

The writing doesn't even go for the cliché of the popular guy crushing on the nerd, either; Zayne gets to display his academic capabilities in helping Leo with his studies, and Leo gets a bunch of positive affirmation over his geeky interests and his status as a "short king." Plus, he has a rare moment of downtime during their individual scene. Zayne also seems to be less insincere in his flirtations when it's not directed at Ace, so it's easier to buy him actually being interested in Leo or at least willing to be so at some point down the line. Zayne is kind of the anti-Bryce in that his side pairs are liable to come off as more romantic than the rest purely on account of his flirty banter, but unless he's got some dark secret about why he acts like he does that's not really a bad thing. (Though that does call to mind that Zayne/Bryce is another one of the player-chosen pairings. We may be in for some unstoppable-force-meets-immovable-object antics here.)

It's impossible for me not to notice as well that this is the only one of these three pairings where both characters went up in my estimation, and how that might partially be the result of their interactions with each other. But it's hard to avoid it; these scenes between the two of them establish new dimensions to both their characters, and I can see them having a good bit of sexual chemistry as well once they get into it.

SPRUNKI (THE TRUE STORY) A REALLY SHITTY FANFIC

TW FOR BRAINROT, DEATH, ROMANCE, JAMES BOND, TUMBLR SEXY MANS (Not really), JUNJI ITO REFRENCES, BROKEN LOGIC, SWEARS, AND BLOOD

Once upon a time, there was a little town known as Sprunki. A place where Sprunki's lived and played, making music all day. They would make songs, learning life lessons under the watchful gaze of Mr. Sun.

Amongst the Sprunki's there was Black. A little bit social isolated, someone who would much rather read a book then run in the dirt, but still a friendly face around the town. Much like many people, he had a lover, Jevin. They weren't like the power couple of Pinki and Oren, but it was cute.

Until one brown Sprunki found something on his phone...

brud had been giggling like a hyena for 2 minutes straight, laughing at some sort of... Animation on his phone.

"What's that?" Vineria asked, curiosity taking over as she walked towards brud.

"It's such a sigma animation!" brud responded, not even looking at Vineria, still glued to his screen of mindless colors.

"What... What does sigma mean?" Garnold asked, walking over. Now there was a small crowd around brud, wondering what the heck they were witnessing.

"Sigma: A man whose self-assured, dogged individualism is considered a model of status, success, and attractiveness! Aka Garnold and Clukr!" Mr. Fun computer buzzed on in the corner, it's goofy smile plastered on it's digital screen.

brud didn't even listen, still busy watching the video. "Oh that guy has a level 100 gyatt!" brud randomly yelled out (I think you can tell what he was reacting to lol), alongside other random slang such as "This is ohio!" And "He's such a sigma..."

Eventually, it got to the point where everyone (Except 5) was watching the video, which Clukr had managed to hook to a TV screen for everyone to watch.

The content was mind numbing, just pure brain melting matter yet also... Somehow entertaining? The pure absurdity of the situations and characters made this more and more hypnotic. One video turned to two, and then three, and then by the end of the day they had probably watched a gazillion videos.

"That was... So sigma!" Wenda exclaimed, grinning ear to ear like a child in a candy store.

"What the Ohio skibidi gyatt did I just watch..." Clukr stared, feeling his mind melt into mush, yet also interested in whatever plot was going on.

And that's when it all went downhill...

"Gyatt!" OWACK yelled at Black while he walked at out his house. Gyatt? That was a new word for Black. But he didn't mind all that much, going over to the coffee shop for a latte.

"Hey Wenda, I'll just get-"

Black didn't even finish his sentence when Wenda interrupted with "OH HEYA 1000% SIGMA NERD BOY!" Before screaming a horrible rendition of Chipi Chipi Chapa Chapa into Black's ear. (Do Sprunki's even have ears? Eh, oh well.)

"GAH- WHAT THE HELL WENDY?!" Black yelled at Wenda, pulling himself away.

"What? Are you not a skibidi sigma boy?" Wenda smirked, holding the coffee cup that was filled with... TYPODS?!

"Wenda why are there typods in your coffee cup?!" Black yelled out, his ears still ringing from the song.

"What? It's cooool nowadays!" Wenda smirked, taking a swig of the concoction.

"OKAY- NOPE." Black yelled out, running out the door and into Simon.

"Heya Blacky-uwu-sama!" Simon blushed, all while in a anime school girl outfit with a letter in his mouth.

"Oh my-" Black yelled out, already ready to jump through the nearest window or volcano. First Wenda and now this? He had to have been high or something!

"Blacky senpai... I was looking for-"

Black had already bolted out of there, just watching this world go to hell. Vineria and OWACK were also doing Chipi Chipi Chapa Chapa, Durple was screaming gyatt at everyone, and poor Sky looked like he hadn't gotten sleep in a month.

"YOU HAVE A LEVEL 80 FANUM TAX!" Oren yelled and Pinki, who blushed vewy hard. VEWY HARD. Black just tried looking away.

"WHO WANTS TO PLAY SQUID GAME IRL?" Garnold yelled out, looking at the hugely mechanical Fun Bot he had somehow built in a day.

"HOW-" Black yelled out, bumping into Clukr (Who was oddly caked up for some reason). Black just stared, looking down and up, before making a break for it back into his house, running right into Gray.

"Sprunki sprunki sprunki Gyatt..." Gray whispered, humming something that sounded worse then Wenda's song.

"NO, NO, NO." Black yelled, pushing past Gray as he ran into his house door. He quickly got up however and shut it immediately.

For a month, Black refused to leave his house, watching his friends go crazy as the scream brainrot and do the stupidest things. He was surprised the town hadn't imploded yet from idiocy, but atleast he had his boyfriend, Jevin.

"Black, I have a idea." Jevin told Black as he sat on the foot of the bed. By morning, they would leave town and head to some cabin in the woods, free from the brainrot and able to live happily.

Unfortunately, fate had other plans...

"Alright. Let's leave this town." Black said, determination rising in his voice as he started to pack up. He had always thought this town was perfect, a place to get away from stress, yet here he was. Leaving cause brud couldn't keep his video shit to himself.

Jevin and Black got into the car, ready to leave, but Wenda had done something incredibly stupid to the car. Something REALLY stupid.

"Hey, why isn't the brake working..." Jevin asked Black, struggling to stop the car. Next thing they new...

CRASH

Wenda fucking dislodged the break as a trendy TikTok trend.

"Ughhh...." Jevin groans, his head slammed onto the wheel. Jevin thought he was dead, in some purgatory, in some hell. But here he was looking back on Black who's face was barely hanging on after getting hit in the face by a "well" placed stopsign. (If you get the reference, congrats, you also read that one manga)

All Jevin could do was just stare in horror, questioning where it all went wrong.

(It's a cliffhanger lol, I'm fucking tired alright? Probably gonna make part two tomorrow. Anyways, this is meant to shitty cause I'm writing this at 8:04 PM)
