I have now finished Vigilant, Glenmoril(of what there is) and next is Unslaad. I need… a break LOL. Act 4 of Vigilant was a massive undertaking but i found it rewarding.
Anyone in the fence about the VICN mods for Skyrim, if you don’t mind the incredibly dark side of TES lore it is an incredible and gruesome journey. I highly recommend it.

You wanna know who my FAVORITE villain of all time is? You see there are a lot of good answers, from Movies, Video Games, Novels, TV shows - but no. . . No, my favorite villain of all time comes from a FUCKING SKYRIM MOD
Tumblr media
AND IT'S FUCKING THIS GUY! Ja'zel the chick trader!! There's something about this slimy fuck, this absolutely disgusting scumsucking turd of a man - this wiggly little bastard, I hate him SO MUCH! BUT IT'S BECAUSE HE'S SO FUCKING GOOD????? He plays you along so effectively - he uses you like you're the Queen in his game of chess, don't even get me started on his Monologue about Talos - this man was bound for greatness. It's hard to go on about why he's such a fantastic villain without spoiling like - All of Glenmoril, but he's such a disgusting little worm, I would break him in half like a fucking slimjim if I could.

Vicn writing massive pieces of deep lore fanfiction tying together the entire Elder Scrolls extended continuity, presenting beautiful philosophy about the nature of memory, and taking the chance to choose peace when your entire existence revolves around fighting, then proceeding to throw you into a fight with a lightsaber-wielding lich, right before having you Ant-Man your way through the Numidium’s large intestine while Indiana Jones style boulders roll at you.

I have an addition to your theory- Krosis was likely not his priest name.
"Krosis" means "sorrow" or "apologies" in dovahzul. It's possible (and indeed likely) that his name was changed at some point because of something bad that happened... like the dragon he served rebelling. Think of all the other priests- they have names like Morokei, or Otar. Most aren't names immediately translatable from dovahzul, and those with dovahzul names make more sense in their meaning ("Nahkriin" meaning "revenge" or "Miraak" being one letter removed from "miiraak" meaning "portal", for example).
So why is the only dragon priest without a temple named "sorrow"? Going with your theory, it would make sense that the dragon Krosis served was marked as a traitor, and after that, Krosis had his name changed and his temple taken.
Whether it was changed by him, though, is unclear (or maybe it's not and I just don't care enough about the timeline to know when he would've died in relation to Parth's rebellion). Personally, I like the idea that he had his crypt removed and name changed AFTER his death- kind of like how the ancient Egyptians would scratch the names off the tombs of traitors.
listen i know bethesda never stated this but just by the clues it’s 99% possible that krosis was the priest of bleak falls barrow, and it was once paarthurnax’s temple. after paarthurnax’s betrayal and overthrowing the cults power, krosis’ crypt was dumped at shearpoint. dragon priests were hailed as kings and buried in the temples, you don’t dump a figure of that power on top of a mountain for no reason. this also explains why bleak falls barrow is without a named dragon priest despite it being one of the larger ruins in skyrim.
and i like things that add up. bleak falls barrow is a fairly large ruin, like labyrinthian and skuldafn. so why would there be no named dragon priest? and of course there’s no confirmation that it was paarth’s temple or not, but he was second in command to alduin and that kind of power doesn’t amount to a tiny temple.

HEYYYY i'm curious--should i play glenmoril now or wait until it's been completed?
SLIDES IN
HI HELLO VICN TRILOGY MENTIONED
so as far as completion goes, we don’t know when the hell it’s getting completed, so I will tell you just go for it. It kinda leaves you on a cliffhanger except the cliffhanger is plopping you into a semi-incomplete worldspace that ur free to explore but doesn’t have a lot of context and feels kinda empty (last time I played at least) but it’s COOL. It’s being updated semi-consistently (last time I checked) so there’s that, and afaik there’s no voiceovers yet BUT there’s been an English translation for a good while, so as long as you’re okay with a lot of reading.
As always I will remind you and anyone else looking to play it that there is an order to the mods— Vigilant, Glenmoril and Unslaad. Glenmoril is the second instalment. Vigilant and Unslaad are both complete. It’s entirely your choice if you wanna play them in order or stand-alone (you might have even played the other two, who knows)
Tl;dr yes, play it now. Hold onto your hat. It’s been about 2 years since I last played it in its entirety and I’m still mentally processing it :’) it is so dear to me.

What do u think of dac0da? Are you playing it currently? Your vision of vigilant was captivating, am curious what you think about this (prequel?)
hey!!! first of all, thank you so much!! (,,>﹏<,,)♡ vglnt is very dear to me and seeing that you you liked my fanart for it? its so heartwarming and motivating!!!!
i havent played much of dac0da yet, just met sload baby boi (?)  (fangirled over them), helped yngol (fangirled over him) and then watch him teleport and die bc my game glitched. so..............i restarted the whole skyrim!! currently lvl 16, stealing potatoes from thalmor ambassy  :^)
it's already obvious that dac0da is a gem tho - the use of vanilla models, design of locations, lore implications behind characters, vibe in general - i honestly don't know a thing that a player can ask for from a mod that vicn havent' nailed, (except headcanon stuff ofc)!
looking forward to meet mannimarco too! i remember wanting more friendly/equal-in-power faces in the trilogy, and in vigilant he was definitely my ldb's favourite person to hang out with. hopefully we won't have to kill him...............
what about you? have any thoughts you want to share about dac0da or the trilogy in general? 👀🤍 i'm happy to gossip about black owl at anytime dflkjgklfdg
also theres some trilogy sketches in public access here 👉👈

If you play Skyrim and haven’t checked out the Gore companion mod, I highly recommend. Absolutely fell in love with his character. Lots of talent and love put into him. Here’s a machinima I made of him and my character experiencing Vigilant by Vicn. Another great mod.
Goredev, his creator actually created an integration addon for Gore to have his own dialogue and experience with Vigilant. You will see a good chunk of it in this video, so spoilers are ahead, you have been warned!
If you are wondering why Gore looks so different it is because I am using Eekie’s replacer! And Fuse’s hair.

I finished unslaad and I'm in awe. I've never experienced such a though-provoking and emotionally invested trilogy of mods like that. It really helped me become very attached to my character, Aniela. If you haven't, go play through Vicn's trilogy of Vigilant, Glenmoril and Unslaad. (I suck at writing blurbs like this but MAN that was so goddamn fun)

Reflecting on the story of Unslaad tonight and I just find it so interesting that both overarching antagonists of the Vicn Trilogy, Molag Bal and Hermaeus Mora, and by extension Hoholaugh and the Black Owls in regards to the latter, each manage to be so horrifyingly villainous while also being the most pathetic characters in the whole story. Each of them is desperately attempting to force you to give them what they need to escape their own destruction, trying with everything in their power to beat you into submission with the worst horrors imaginable, only for them to be practically crawling and clinging onto your ankle while desperately pleading for you to stop and help them by the end. Each seems like an impossible foe at the darkest moments of the story, but when you look back after it's all over you can see just how pitiful they always were.
"Laugh at such matters, Dragonborn. For the Prisoner holds the reins of fate in their hands."
I also think of it as a nice callback to Vigilant that you can defeat Hoholaugh by offering him forgiveness, but with a very different outcome compared to the souls you grant peace in that story, and honestly I think it's the most damning option of all for him. He looks out upon the world and the understanding of what he's done, how he's been used, and all that he was never and will never be able to be part of hits him all at once. That's the key thing, too. I think Hoholaugh doesn't just know in this moment, he understands. Molag Bal will never understand, and neither will Hermaeus Mora. The Prince of Fate is too stuck with his head buried in all his stolen words and, even moreso, his own fear to have any capacity to look at the world and truly comprehend the magnificence of it all. But in the moment after he's freed, Hoholaugh understands, and it destroys him.
"The more I think about it, the more I feel... I could have been a part of this world if only my Lord Herma-Mora participated in its creation..."
The greatest revenge you can have against the Black Owl is to take none at all, and I think there's something brilliant to that.
