I have now finished Vigilant, Glenmoril(of what there is) and next is Unslaad. I need… a break LOL. Act 4 of Vigilant was a massive undertaking but i found it rewarding.
Anyone in the fence about the VICN mods for Skyrim, if you don’t mind the incredibly dark side of TES lore it is an incredible and gruesome journey. I highly recommend it.
#No quest in vanilla TES games will compared to the roller coaster that Vicn puts you through#i think i prefer Glenmoril to TES but that’s because i did it first and felt more connected to the NPCs#also my horrible husband#Jhunal………#Vicn mods#skyrim mods#vicn trilogy

Reflecting on the story of Unslaad tonight and I just find it so interesting that both overarching antagonists of the Vicn Trilogy, Molag Bal and Hermaeus Mora, and by extension Hoholaugh and the Black Owls in regards to the latter, each manage to be so horrifyingly villainous while also being the most pathetic characters in the whole story. Each of them is desperately attempting to force you to give them what they need to escape their own destruction, trying with everything in their power to beat you into submission with the worst horrors imaginable, only for them to be practically crawling and clinging onto your ankle while desperately pleading for you to stop and help them by the end. Each seems like an impossible foe at the darkest moments of the story, but when you look back after it's all over you can see just how pitiful they always were.
"Laugh at such matters, Dragonborn. For the Prisoner holds the reins of fate in their hands."
I also think of it as a nice callback to Vigilant that you can defeat Hoholaugh by offering him forgiveness, but with a very different outcome compared to the souls you grant peace in that story, and honestly I think it's the most damning option of all for him. He looks out upon the world and the understanding of what he's done, how he's been used, and all that he was never and will never be able to be part of hits him all at once. That's the key thing, too. I think Hoholaugh doesn't just know in this moment, he understands. Molag Bal will never understand, and neither will Hermaeus Mora. The Prince of Fate is too stuck with his head buried in all his stolen words and, even moreso, his own fear to have any capacity to look at the world and truly comprehend the magnificence of it all. But in the moment after he's freed, Hoholaugh understands, and it destroys him.
"The more I think about it, the more I feel... I could have been a part of this world if only my Lord Herma-Mora participated in its creation..."
The greatest revenge you can have against the Black Owl is to take none at all, and I think there's something brilliant to that.

If you play Skyrim and haven’t checked out the Gore companion mod, I highly recommend. Absolutely fell in love with his character. Lots of talent and love put into him. Here’s a machinima I made of him and my character experiencing Vigilant by Vicn. Another great mod.
Goredev, his creator actually created an integration addon for Gore to have his own dialogue and experience with Vigilant. You will see a good chunk of it in this video, so spoilers are ahead, you have been warned!
If you are wondering why Gore looks so different it is because I am using Eekie’s replacer! And Fuse’s hair.

I finished unslaad and I'm in awe. I've never experienced such a though-provoking and emotionally invested trilogy of mods like that. It really helped me become very attached to my character, Aniela. If you haven't, go play through Vicn's trilogy of Vigilant, Glenmoril and Unslaad. (I suck at writing blurbs like this but MAN that was so goddamn fun)

15 for the asks to spread love
A topic you never get tired of discussing
Oh boy. Oh this is so hard but I have one answer that’s kinda out of the box.
I love talking about the deeplore of TES, and things like Numidium and the whackier aspects of the TES universe, but I think the number one thing I’ll never get tired of, and shows literally whenever somebody asks me about Skyrim and I cannot stop myself from mentioning it, is the Vicn mod trilogy.
This is such an obscure answer but dear lord this mod trilogy has consumed me whole, changed my outlook on the TES universe and gave it a new meaning. It’s beautiful, it’s macabre, it’s morbid and it’s genius. It works so well with the material it has in the existing universe to create something new that can fit seamlessly into the story and it’s just so beautiful. So many gorgeous themes. The story and the side plots are just so wonderfully crafted it made me cry. It might as well be its own TES game honestly.
Using this ask as a reminder that if you play Skyrim on PC, are equipped to run mods and have some degree of understanding of the lore and history of the TES universe/are interested in learning more about it, then please, please consider trying out Vigilant, Glenmoril and Unslaad.
#it’s so good. our fandom is only a small pocket but it’s cozy here#I hope this answer falls properly under the question bc I do not shut up about these mods ever

Just in case you didn't, I feel like you should know about these Dwemer clothing sets made by Vicn that were released just a few days ago on the 10th: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/108959?tab=description
Oh I know. I'm hoping to use his Sotha Sil outfit for Memory in a future WoL update.

🍓 🌶️ 🍋 for nae
ahhhhh thank you for your ask!! i super enjoyed thinking about it and hope you'll enjoy reading it! ♡✧( ु•⌄• )
🍓 [STRAWBERRY] How do they feel about 'cute' things?
ohhhh i think they just go wild if they see something cute and like…fixates on it for a while? they're eeeeasily distracted and can and will drop anything no matter how important it is and just leave if they see someone with a cute hair clip for example
at the season unending quest nae spends all of the council just staring at the silver cup in front of them, touching and moving it and misses the whole conversation bc of it, oh my babe (ಥ⌣ಥ)
🌶️ [HOT PEPPER] Who would your OC declare their sworn enemy if they could meet them?
hmmmm im gonna break my head over this aren't am i xD hmmmmm maybeee??? hmmmm i'd say hermaeus mora?? because of the reasons that are also spoilers to the vicn's mods so shhhh but like even what happened there is still in "forgivable" category for them?? i think the answer is: no one, really. nae are so deep in "i deserve every bad thing that happened to me'' that they cant think about anyone as their enemies at this point
🍋 [LEMON] What is their kryptonite/ultimate weakness?
10000000% - expressions of kindness\small signs of love and care. and that ofc comes alongside with - people that were nice to him when nae wasn't expecting. you can literally be a killing machine that eats children for breakfast, but if somehow you convinced this little babe that you actually care about him? oh he'd die for you, he is soooo dead aaaa

Summer Reading/Writing/Arting Tag
Taggged by: @snowberry-crostata and @late-nite-scholar!
Tagging: whoever wants to do it; I know I don't often tag particular people and it's really truly because I can never decide.
1) Describe one creative WIP project you’re planning to work on over the summer:
When their ship crashes just off the coast of Winterhold, Erlind Madieve's life takes an unexpected turn. But he'd left High Rock, his parents, and his siblings for a reason, and this would probably turn out better than her half-baked plans anyway.
Snowbloom is the first installment of my fic series Ebonsong, which follows the adventures, trials, and delights of my primary Dragonborn, Erlind Madieve who will become Erlind Ebonsong as they travel throughout Skyrim, Solstheim, and possibly Bruma, depending on how I feel after the rest of everything else.
This first 'book' in the series chronicles Erlind's recovery from the shipwreck and the five years they spend studying at the College of Winterhold. Since I only really have one event planned so far aside from the joining and leaving of the College, it's rather likely that Snowbloom will be one of, if not the shortest of the series.
2) Rec a book:
It's been a while since I've read anything non-fic, but I'm kinda-sorta following through Dracula Daily, which is quite fun.
3) Rec a fic:
Mmmmmmmmmm there's a lot of awesome fics I've been reading lately, almost exclusively Skyrim fics, but I think the one I'll rec is the one that convinced me to finally start writing Ebonsong: Vigilance by nightinngales.
It's quite dark, incorporating large portions of the mod Vigilant by Vicn, it fiddles with the lore somewhat, and it's a Serana/LDB pairing with various acknowledgements toward how horrible Serana's turning was. The first time I read Vigilance, I practically devoured it, but alas though I've started another read, I haven't had the time or focus to devote to it again.
4) Rec music:
Anything by Jonathan Young, Miracle of Sound, or Within Temptation. For specific songs............The Wolf Within by Jonathan Young and Caleb Hyles, Fallen Leaves by Miracle of Sound, and Don't Pray For Me by Within Temptation, just for some random picks.
5) Share one piece of advice:
Your life doesn't really start until mid twenties at the earliest. I'm twenty-three right now, just about to graduate university in a few weeks, and I'm feeling that in a way I've never had before.

So you're telling me that for over a year, there's been more story left in Unslaad after the Gray Owl arc that I had NO KNOWLEDGE OF, and it is not just a short epilogue area with a bit of lore, but in fact an ENTIRE MULTI-HOUR DUNGEON CRAWL AND TRUE FINAL ACT? I fucking adore this mod. This is literally the second time this happened to me. The first time I only played the first act, then I found out about the secret portal in the guest room the second time, and now I'm finding out about all this? Unreal.
I was just going to replay the mod and that would be that, but now I'm experiencing divine and unholy revelations. I jumped into the deep end and I didn't even know.
