Finished the sideview mirror and the headlight yesterday.

Gotta do the front air vents and I can mirror the hood section.

After that I need to model the grill as well as the exhaust pipes and the back bumper.

Then gotta model two different stingray logos.

Want to get both the front grill section as well as the back section done today.

Exhaust pipes are simple shapes. Front grill might be tricky.

Found out the gym opens at 7 AM now on the weekends instead of 8. Great.

Rather go early and avoid people. No one is gonna wake up at 7 AM on a Sunday.

Should already start thinking about my next project after this.

I thought about doing a product video type of thing of the Corvette in Unreal. Would help me learn Unreal.

Can't wait to model it again in a year or two. Hoping it'll look much better by that time.

How to make your Career in VFX industry (digital effects)

Look at the movies today, without VFX it would be impossible to imagine the incredible scenes that we enjoy to come to life.  Epic movies out there like Star Wars, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and series like Game of thrones, what would they be without VFX? Imagination of that scale can only be translated to visually spectacular masterpiece with the help of VFX or Visual Effects.

VFX is divided into two broad categories Special effects and Digital effects. Special effects comprises of mechanical and optical effects. Props, makeup, pyro-kinetics and animatronics are used to give life to vivid imaginary situations to come to life. These effects are even more enhanced with addition of natural elements like rain, hail, storm all created on the set. Optical effects are usually in-camera effects while the movie is being recorded or post production using optical printer. This is where you see the use of blue screen. You would have seen many behind the scene shots of actors acting with a blue screen in the background and after editing and adding visual effects it just becomes breathtaking.

To start with you can learn the basics of designing characters, illustrations and visualization techniques. As you practice you will be able to grasp the concept of depth and scale, effects of weight and gravity, natural movements of a body, effects of colors and lightings to set up a scene.  You should not skip learning basic skills related to traditional art. If you have a background in fine arts you’d be at a great advantage but if you don’t have a background you can always learn it later.

These basic skills will be a strong foundation for you when you start learning how to use 3D softwares like 3DS Max or MAYA, character development, Camera tracking, FX dynamics and simulations. Later on as you get better you can become a specialist in any of the production stages namely layout artist, lightening artist, rendering artist, roto artist, Matte painter, composition artist and match mover artist.

While you learn the techniques, you can always look up how other artists work and get inspiration about how you want to create a path for yourself. You can join up groups or forums on the internet where people can guide you on specific questions you have.

VFX is a very lucrative career and VFX artists are in a lot of demand today. It is a field that focuses on artistic flair and skills. Hence nurture your artistic skills and practice your craft and you will be able to create an amazing career as a VFX artist.

Spent the entire day on the model. Slow progress.

I'm struggling to do the truck cab. Gotta figure it out.

I did it once. Back in 2019.

Rewatching the old speed modelling, I can see how my skills have improved.

The model is much cleaner now.

I also put together a showreel for the internships.

It's fucking garbage.

Like honestly what the fuck is that?

I need to make more stuff.

Film my own video and rotoscope it. Do a camera track and removal. Gotta learn a new software first.

Gotta work on the cover letters as well as the Retrospective. I might just spend the day on that.

So much stuff to do.
