Hello Tracy
I hope this doesn't come off as rude but I saw somewhere that Lackadaisy supposedly only pays their animators $35 per second, is this true?
I've been wanting to try out to work for you guys some day which is why I ask
No, that is not true. Normalizing transparency may ultimately stand to benefit artists, though, so... We paid $52 per second for rough animation, and $52 per second for cleanup on the pilot. For some more complicated shots cluttered with characters, we paid a higher rate and split the work between multiple animators. We knew that wasn't up to par with a full-fledged studio rate, but it's what we could do based on the Kickstarter budget we had raised in 2020. We were upfront about it with anyone who applied for work, and we enacted a policy of not animating on 1s. Moving ahead, feeling that rate was insufficient, we doubled it to $104 for a number of smaller animated projects we did after the pilot, including the teaser. The "per second" model is a pretty industry-standard way to pay animators, but it is flawed, especially when you consider how common it is to send work back for multiple revisions. We've since been trying to move away from it to a more salary-like pay structure for anything that isn't a short, standalone assignment. ***** For those who may not understand what "per second" means here, it refers to "per second of completed, approved animation". It's not based on the amount of time the artist spends animating, but on the output.

Would anyone be interested in a lesson on how to get jobs in the 2D animation industry?
I'm not the greatest animator on Earth, but I'm a seasoned animation professional, and I've NEVER been rejected for an animation job.
I've been hired by 5 studios in my 7+years working.
I ask because I feel as though a lot of younger animators don't understand the skills OUTSIDE of animation that are required to get a job, or do well in an interview, or showcase your most marketable skills.
I know animators better than me who needed my help with getting hired.

How did you get that position? Did you go to school for animation or anything like that?
I went to Savannah College of Art & Design to study Sequential Art (comics). I didn’t really think animation was an option for me, even though I desperately wanted to do it. I mostly made a name for myself outside of cartoons, making webcomics, going to conventions, doing gallery shows. I ended up meeting a lot of my friends who ended up working in animation from that community. My first work was on Yo Gabba Gabba, where I boarded, designed and painted the short Mermaids. A lot of the animation on that show was from folks outside animation, from there I found my way into freelance character design on Bee & Puppycat, then props design due to some friends of mine on Star vs The Forces of Evil. When the character design position came up on Star, I did a test for it and managed to get it. From there I just kept on specializing in character design. After about five years I ended up in a lead/supervisor role!

I've been an animator on She-Ra, American Dad! (still am), multiple other FOX shows, and it all happened without a degree or art portfolio. Warning: this is a pretty dark story. It's also the origins of Chew Gum, the series I'm currently trying to make!  Check it out on Newgrounds.

i think the real reason Lucanis has a coffee addiction is so the animators had an excuse to show just how good they are at making characters hold cups now.

like look at that. its not floating 6 inches away from his palms. it goes up and down with his hands. he's even got one hand on the handle itself! we've come so far since the hilarious joining chalice animation in Origins and Solas's cup of misery tea that floats 4 seconds behind his arm movements

Prospective Animation Role
Having looked at several animation companies and creative industry recruitment sites, I found this entry-level role at Blue Zoo Studios.
I am familiar with this company due to their work on the CG Paddington animated series as well as the Playmobil movie. I feel they would be a good option to contact, and I will produce a cover letter for this role.

Pro & Cons
Pros:
This position interested me as it is for a background artist - something I would be interested in.
It is an entry-level role – so there would be an expectation that there will be some training to build on the skills I have already attained at university.
It is potentially a hybrid role and remote working is considered.
I have experience using Adobe Photoshop.
Cons:
I currently have no experience with FTrack – which is mentioned in the job description – I will need to look at learning about this.
There is no indication of salary range
