People tell me my pets are skinny all the time, and keep in mind, my dogs come with me to work... In the clinic... My dogs are both easily 5/9 BCS dogs, with my Terrier being a 3/5 MCS (average pet muscling), and my Malinois being a 4-5/5 MCS (basically the maximum muscling you can achieve in a dog)
While I don't think everyone should maintain their dogs the way my mal looks, they absolutely should be maintaining the way my terrier looks, he is lean, healthy, and decently muscled.
I work in rehabilitation, and I see a LOT of CCL tears and Spinal discomfort, while Genetics and conformation play a big role in that, the biggest factor that you as an owner have? Is keeping them at an appropriate weight. I've had one patient who did a full CCL tear while at a healthy weight, and that dog also didn't do a partial tear or full tear on the opposite leg as we worked on healing the first one. She was also a performance dog who had this tear occur halfway through an agility course. Meanwhile, I almost exclusively see full tears when patients are above a 7/9 BCS and they're almost always accompanied by a partial tear or full tear in the opposite leg within 6 months.
Their recovery takes significantly longer, their prognosis is worse, and they often have even more issues come up in their spines, shoulders, and elbows during recovery because they have too much weight to effectively support on 4 legs, let alone 3 or 2 legs, resulting in secondary and tertiary injuries.
Obese pets aren't cute, and obese pets have worse health outcomes. Talk to your vet about your pet's BCS score and, if your vet evaluates it, MCS (Muscle Condition Score) and honestly discuss what the pet is eating, including toppers, treats, supplements, and actual volume of food. Also, you can use this calculator to calculate how much of your food you should be feeding as a baseline (not just trusting the bag amounts)
Pets are very commonly overweight. And very commonly the reason given will be ‘because my parents feed them more than they’re supposed to, and they won’t listen when I tell them to stop’.
And I sympathise. I understand. Parents are hard, especially when they still think of you as ‘their kid’ and not ‘grown adult with autonomy’. Getting your parent to change their behavior is very difficult.
My two cats have a scoop in their bag of food, and they get one scoop each for dinner. It’s a very simple system: 1 scoop 1 cat. If I notice they’re getting a bit podgy then I make the scoop a bit concave. If they’re looking a bit light, I give them a little extra breakfast. But dinner is always the same, never more than one scoop.
But last night I watch my mother (the very same woman that scolded me for my weight since I was ten) decide to feed the cats for me while I finished washing the dishes.
The cats follow her, mewing pathetically, as she carries the food bag to their bowls. And I watch, as she’s talking to me and making eye contact, while she gives one cat a slightly heaped scoop of food, and then the other.
And then, dear reader, she replaces the scoop into the bag, as though it’s the most natural thing in the world, and proceeds to give each cat an additional handful of food.
I was astounded. I was politely mortified that you just increased the cats’ meals by at least 80%. No wonder they’ve been podgy!
We had a polite but firm discussion about how that is a measured scoop in the bag, and have-you-been-feeding-that-much-the-whole-time, but I do not think she has listened. I think I will need to gently ban her from feeding the cats.

Fit Is the New Fur: Why a Healthy Weight Makes Your Dog a Better Friend | Trending From Our Network
People aren’t the only ones who struggle with obesity. Man’s best friend also deals with putting on a few extra pounds as they age. According to a survey by the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention (APOP), 59% of dogs in 2022 across the United States were considered overweight or obese. Sadly, during the global pandemic, […]

— ‘the frenchwoman.’
RUPERT CAMPBELL-BLACK x FEM!READER
words : 4k
synopsis : You’re no journalist, but a last-minute favor thrusts you into an interview with Rupert Campbell-Black, the infamous Olympian-turned-MP. You hate everything aristocratic, a sentiment no doubt rooted in your French ancestry and your country’s history with the elite. Still, the lines between duty and danger blur with every word.
A/N : English isn’t my first language, so I apologize in advance for any mistakes. I’m not entirely sure what I just wrote, but I hope it’s still enjoyable! :)
THE RUTSHIRE COUNTRYSIDE unfolded before you like a scene from a postcard: undulating hills, pristine fields, and the occasional splash of wildflowers in vivid hues.
It was undeniably beautiful, yet to someone who’d grown up in Paris and now lived in London, where beauty was always wrapped in the chaotic buzz of life, it felt unsettlingly perfect—almost too serene.
You weren’t a journalist—not by any stretch. Your expertise lay in veterinary medicine, not in chasing headlines or conducting interviews.
But when your friend had called, her voice trembling with desperation and barely holding back tears as she tried to explain why she couldn’t make it to England for an urgent assignment for her boss at a high-profile media firm, you hadn’t been able to say no. She’d stammered through her plea, insisting it was a last-minute decision, that none of her colleagues could take her place, and that you were the only French person she knew living in England—making you the perfect stand-in.
She wasn’t famous, but the company she worked for certainly was. Thankfully, they didn’t have a photo of her on file, just the knowledge that a French journalist was coming to interview the infamous womanizing MP.
You fit the role perfectly—or at least well enough to fool them.
So, with a deep breath and every ounce of courage you could summon, you stepped into her shoes, ready to play the part.
The house—no, the manor—loomed ahead, a lavish testament to old money and unchecked arrogance.
Stepping out of your worn-down car, your high heels crunched against the polished gravel of the estate’s driveway of the Campbell-Black estate.
Already, you regretted your choice of footwear, but it was necessary—you had to look the part.
Dressed in a sharp, polished red blouse and matching skirt, you quickly verified that the notebook containing the questions your friend had painstakingly prepared was still tucked safely in your bag. Adjusting it under your arm, your fingers tightened momentarily as you glanced at the grand manor towering before you.
God, you just hoped you wouldn’t embarrass yourself—or blow the cover entirely. The sheer weight of history and expectation seemed to hang in the air, pressing down on you as you took a deep breath, steeling yourself for the charade that lay ahead.
“Ah, and here she is.”
The voice, smooth and laced with amusement, came from your left. You turned to see him leaning against a sleek sports car, arms crossed and radiating an air of smug privilege.
Rupert Campbell-Black.
He towered over most, tall and broad-shouldered, with an air of infuriating self-assurance that seemed to demand attention without even trying. His smile, sharp and knowing, was the kind that could either make you want to roll your eyes in disbelief or, if you were feeling particularly bold, slap it right off his face.
Everything about him screamed aristocrat, from the crisply tailored blazer that looked like it had been made for a throne to the way he carried himself with an effortless arrogance, as if he owned the world and was simply letting the rest of us pretend we had a say in it.
It wasn't that you hated him—not exactly. It was more the idea of him, the things he represented, the polished, perfect image he projected of old money, entitlement, and an almost offensive ease with the luxuries of life.
You despised that.
But your irritation with him had mostly been built from the things you’d read in the tabloids. You didn’t want to buy into the gossip, but it was hard not to when everything you read painted him as the worst kind of privileged, pompous snob. Still, like everyone else, you couldn’t help but feel a certain curiosity toward him.
And when you saw him in person—standing there with his smirk and that goddamn perfectly disheveled hair—you had to admit, he was more handsome than you'd imagined. The kind of handsome that made you want to look away just so he wouldn’t notice how much you were looking.
Of course, you wouldn't let him know that.
“You must be the journalist,” he said, his voice smooth and rich, like the kind of tone one might use when speaking to someone far beneath them.
He straightened up, his movements calculated and assured as he began to saunter toward you with that predatory grace, as though he had just spotted an interesting mouse.
You raised an eyebrow, crossing your arms with deliberate calm. “And you must be the aristocrat who thinks it’s still 1815,” you fired back, taking in his perfectly polished shoes, the tailored cut of his suit, the way he walked as if he were the only person in the room worth noticing. You couldn't help but scan him from head to toe, that critical, discerning eye you had well-practiced over years of dealing with people like him.
He halted in his tracks, his smirk widening as though your words had delivered precisely the challenge he’d been anticipating. “French, then?” he asked, his tone laced with a hint of amusement, underpinned by that ever-present air of casual superiority.
Of course, Rupert already knew the journalist was French—he would have done his homework before agreeing to the interview. No, this was just him, toying with you.
“Oui,” you replied with a quick glance and a little more bite than usual, your arms still crossed tightly over your chest. "Is that going to be a problem?" you added, the challenge in your voice clear, daring him to say something, anything, that would prove your impression of him wrong—or, more likely, confirm it.
“Not at all,” he said smoothly, with a flourish of his hand toward the house. His voice carried a casual, almost theatrical quality as if he were performing for an audience. “In fact, it’s quite refreshing. Most journalists they send are painfully polite. You, on the other hand, seem… different.”
You rolled your eyes, a small, exasperated laugh escaping you. “If by ‘different,’ you mean I’m not here to stroke your ego, then yes, I suppose I am.”
Rupert’s laugh rang out, deep and assured, as if he were privy to some private joke. The sound both irked and intrigued you. Without missing a step, he fell into stride beside you as you neared the entrance. “Miss Duvallet, is it?” he asked.
You opened your mouth, ready to correct him with your real name and a sharp insult, but then it hit you—you were supposed to be Miss Duvallet.
Swallowing the sudden lump in your throat, you simply nodded and replied with a curt, “Yes.”
“Tell me,” he said, his tone shifting slightly, taking on a hint of curiosity, “why take this assignment if you’re so clearly opposed to everything I represent?”
You shot him a look, your response as blunt as ever. “Work,” you said simply, shrugging as if that were the only answer that mattered. “Not all of us have the luxury of inheriting a manor.”
“Touché,” he replied, a flicker of amusement in his eyes, before he opened the door for you, ushering you inside.
The manor greeted you with all the grandeur you’d expected—high, vaulted ceilings, furniture so polished it seemed to shine even in the dim light, and walls adorned with heavy portraits of ancestors whose eyes followed you as you moved. It was all so… much.
You paused, taking it all in, trying to stifle the small twinge of awe that prickled at your insides.
“Impressed?” Rupert asked, his voice light with amusement, clearly savoring the effect his surroundings had on you.
Yes, you were impressed. It was a beautiful place, no denying that. But you would never let him know that.
You glanced at him, your expression flat, even though a part of you was bristling with the impulse to give a biting reply. “If by ‘impressed,’ you mean mildly nauseated, then yes, I suppose you could say that.”
Rupert’s laughter rang out again, deeper this time, full of genuine surprise. The sound was so unexpected that it caught you off guard, making you wonder if you had misjudged him. “I’ll take that as a compliment,” he said, clearly entertained by your response.
Shaking your head, you redirected the conversation. “So, where do we start? I assume you’ve prepared some kind of agenda.”
“Of course,” he said, leading you down a grand hallway. “But first, let me clear the air about one thing.”
You stopped, turning to face him. His tone, while still light, carried a sharper edge.
“I don’t know what you’ve read about me, but I’m not quite as terrible as I’m made out to be.”
You tilted your head, a small, skeptical smile playing on your lips. “Let me guess. You’re not like the other rich men?”
His grin widened, wolfish and unapologetic. “I’m worse.”
You hummed, clearly skeptic about him. "Very well, Mr Campbell-Black."
“Rupert,” he corrected smoothly. “If we’re going to spend time together, you might as well call me by my name.”
“Fine,” you said with a shrug, keeping your tone professional. “But don’t get any ideas. I’m here to work, not to feed into whatever thing you think this is.”
“Perish the thought,” he replied with mock solemnity. “But I should warn you—things around here can get… unpredictable.”
You sighed, the weight of the situation settling on your shoulders. Already, you were questioning your life choices. “Wonderful,” you muttered under your breath, yet you forced a polite, practiced smile—one honed through years of dealing with difficult interview subjects.
Rupert led you into another room, as grandiose as the first, if not more so. He referred to it as the green tea room, a name that seemed almost as carefully curated as the room itself. Emerald green walls framed the space, accented by high ceilings and sculptures that, if you had to guess, cost more than a year’s salary. The furniture—rich, heavy pieces that seemed to whisper of luxury—only reinforced the wealth that dripped from every corner of the manor.
He guided you to a plush, velvet-red canapé, the cushions soft beneath you as you sat. “Drink?” Rupert asked smoothly, uncapping a whiskey bottle and beginning to pour himself a glass.
“No, thank you,” you answered, your tone firm.
But Rupert, ever the charming host, wasn’t easily deterred. “Not even wine?” he pressed, his gaze flicking toward you with mild amusement.
“I don’t drink,” you replied, trying to maintain your focus.
He raised an eyebrow, unperturbed. “Tea, then? I can call the maid to prepare us some,” he offered, as if suggesting something as simple as breathing.
You leaned back slightly, your patience thinning. “With all due respect, Rupert, I’m here to discuss politics. Shall we start?”
For the first time, a flicker of surprise crossed his face, his posture shifting as he registered your refusal. His usual easygoing charm was momentarily unsettled. “Straight to business?” he asked, amusement creeping into his voice. “Not even a little foreplay? Do all French journalists lack a sense of occasion, or is it just you?”
You didn’t flinch, meeting his gaze with an evenness that only made his grin widen. Then, uou inhaled deeply, willing yourself to remain professional. “Again, If you think I’m here to flirt or fawn, you’re mistaken. Let’s just say I’m not your usual… audience.”
Rupert’s laugh was low and lazy, like a cat stretching in the sun. “Oh, I like you. Sharp. Refreshing, really. Most people who visit spend the first ten minutes fawning over the place.”
“Then let me save us both the trouble,” you said crisply, gesturing vaguely at the ornate surroundings. “It’s very big. Very… lovely. Now, can we start ?”
Perching on the edge of the overstuffed armchair, you pulled out your notepad, determined to stay focused.
“So,” you began in a neutral tone, “the Tory Party. What inspired your allegiance to them?”
Rupert leaned back in his chair, his posture relaxed, yet his confidence radiated with every movement.“Allegiance? That’s a bit strong for my taste,” he said with a faint smile. “Let’s just say I appreciate certain efficiencies, the kind that get results. I’ve always been drawn to winning teams, the ones that know how to play the game and come out on top.”
His eyes sharpened, the casual tone shifting into something more calculating. After a brief pause, he swirled the liquor in his glass, the crystal catching the light. “And as for ‘inspiration,’ that’s a bit too lofty for me. I’ve always believed in the importance of tradition, in maintaining order. That’s what keeps everything running smoothly.”
You jotted his response down but didn’t look up, deliberately keeping your tone sharp. “Do you think the party reflects the realities of modern Britain?”
His eyes sparkled with a challenge as he met your gaze. “That depends. Whose reality are we talking about? But you’re French, aren’t you? Tell me—what do you think of it all?”
You met his gaze without flinching. “I find the British fascination with monarchy and class structure quite intriguing, especially for a country that prides itself on being ‘modern,’” you finished, emphasizing the word with two fingers forming quotation marks.
His smile sharpened, full of challenge. “Careful, you’re starting to sound like a revolutionary.”
You smirked, leaning back in your chair. “Don’t worry. I left the guillotines at home.”
“For now,” he added, his grin widening.
You rolled your eyes, but a faint smile tugged at the corner of your lips. “If we’re done with the banter, let’s get back to the topic. Do you believe your policies address the needs of modern Britain, or are they focused on preserving this… tradition and order you mentioned?”
His expression grew thoughtful, though the amused glint in his eye remained. “A good politician knows how to balance the old and the new,” he said. “The past is what grounds us, but the future… that’s what keeps things interesting.”
You jotted down his words, biting back the urge to challenge him further. Rupert Campbell-Black might be as infuriating as he was charming, but he was certainly keeping your interview lively.
“Are you always like this, or do you save the charm for interviews?”
“Only when the company’s as delightful as this,” he replied smoothly, leaning forward slightly. “But tell me, do all French journalists enjoy poking the British aristocracy, or is that just your particular specialty?”
You raised an eyebrow, refusing to be drawn in. “I ask questions. Whether or not they’re uncomfortable is up to you.”
His chuckle was low and unhurried, as though he had all the time in the world. “Fair enough. Though I do hope this isn’t all business. You’d miss the best parts.”
You ignored the bait, your pen poised over the notepad. “Let’s stick to the topic. How do you think the Tory Party’s policies address the concerns of everyday citizens?”
Rupert tilted his head, his expression unreadable for a moment before he responded. “That’s a rather broad question. Perhaps you’d like to narrow it down. Or would you prefer I give you the polished party line?”
"Why don’t you surprise me?” you countered.
His lips twitched in a faint smirk, but he didn’t take the bait. Instead, he leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers as if weighing his options.
"Minister of Sport—it’s quite the title. How did that come about?” you pressed, switching tactics.
He relaxed further, his expression a mix of amusement and pride. “I suppose you could say it was a natural fit. My background in racing and polo gave me some credibility, and my, shall we say, people skills helped me secure the role.”
You snorted softly, scribbling in your notebook. “People skills. Is that what we’re calling it?"
“Well,” he said with a self-assured grin, “knowing which hands to shake and which backs to pat is half the battle in politics, isn’t it? Or did you imagine my ascent was purely a matter of sporting excellence?”
You smirked, meeting his gaze head-on. “I imagine most ascents, political or otherwise, involve a little grease on the ladder.”
His laughter was warm, though tinged with challenge. “I suppose your right. Do you apply the same cynicism to journalism? Or do you reserve that for the likes of me?”
“That depends,” you shot back lightly. “Are you going to give me a real answer, or keep playing the charming aristocrat?”
“Ah, but why not both?” he replied smoothly, his grin widening, leaning slightly forward. “I’ve always believed in a balance between charm and substance. Something I’m sure you’ll appreciate.”
You gave a small, knowing nod. "I’m starting to see that."
"Careful," he warned, though his tone was light. “I might start to think you’re underestimating me.”
“Never,” you said, matching his smirk. “But I am curious—what’s your vision for British sport? Surely it’s not all polo matches and champagne receptions.”
Rupert’s smile faded slightly, replaced by a look of genuine focus. “It’s about more than just the elite sports, though they’re important. Grassroots programs, improving facilities, getting kids involved in physical activity—that’s where the real work is. If we want to compete on the world stage, we need to start at the bottom and build up.”
It was an unexpectedly thoughtful answer, but you weren’t about to let him off the hook. “And yet, critics have accused you of focusing too much on prestige projects—Wembley renovations, international events, things that benefit the few rather than the many. How do you respond to that?”
He chuckled, but there was a sharpness to his gaze. “Critics always find something to complain about. But let’s be clear—those ‘prestige projects’ bring in revenue, jobs, and attention. They’re investments, not indulgences.”
You tapped your pen against your notepad. “Fair point, but how do you balance that with ensuring access for underprivileged communities? Because from where I’m sitting, the gap between elite and grassroots sports seems to be widening.”
Rupert’s jaw tightened slightly, and for a moment, you wondered if you’d pushed too hard. Then he nodded, as if conceding the point. “It’s a fair criticism. And it’s something I’m working on. But change takes time, and unfortunately, not everyone has the patience for that.”
You leaned forward, deciding to test the waters further. “And does your political affiliation ever get in the way? The Conservative Party hasn’t exactly been known for prioritizing social programs.”
His laugh was low and sardonic. “There it is! The classic dig at the Tories. Tell me again, do all French journalists come armed with clichés, or is it just you?”
You shrugged, unfazed. “I call it like I see it.”
“Well,” he said, his tone softening, “to answer your question—yes, politics complicates things. But if you spend too much time worrying about what everyone else thinks, you’ll never get anything done. My job is to fight for what I believe in, even if it ruffles a few feathers.”
“And what do you believe in?” you asked, genuinely curious now.
He hesitated, a rare moment of vulnerability crossing his face. “Opportunity,” he said finally. “The chance for everyone—no matter where they come from—to excel at something. Whether it’s sport, business, or, hell, journalism.”
You arched an eyebrow. “I didn’t peg you for an idealist.”
“Don’t let it get out,” he replied with a grin. “It would ruin my reputation.”
You raised an eyebrow, amused. “Oh, don’t worry. I’m not in the habit of sharing state secrets—yet.”
Rupert chuckled, leaning back in his chair. “Good to know. I do have a reputation to uphold, after all.”
You smirked, tapping your pen against the notepad. “And what exactly does that reputation entail? The charming, polo-playing, politician with a knack for public appearances?”
His eyes twinkled, but there was a hint of seriousness behind his smile. “I’d say it’s more about the vision—being able to see the bigger picture and making things happen, no matter how tough it gets. The rest is just...window dressing.”
You studied him, weighing his words. “So, you’re not just about the photo ops and the VIP events?”
“Not by a long shot,” he said, his tone firm. “But sometimes, you need the spotlight to shine on the issues that matter. If it means people pay attention for a moment, then so be it.”
You nodded, impressed despite yourself. “Okay. But what happens when the spotlight moves on to the next shiny object?”
Rupert’s gaze softened, his eyes narrowing just slightly as if he was weighing your words carefully. “Then you keep working, quietly if necessary, until the next opportunity comes along. The real work doesn’t stop just because the cameras are elsewhere.”
You held his gaze for a moment longer, feeling the weight of the silence stretch between you both.
Then, with a deliberate motion, you snapped your notebook shut, the sound cutting through the still air like a signal.
Rising to your feet, you extended your hand, offering a final gesture of professionalism. “Thank you, sir, for the meeting.”
He looked at your hand for a heartbeat before raising an eyebrow, his voice tinged with amusement. “We’re back on formalities, then?”
“The interview is over,” you said simply, your voice unwavering, though there was a subtle shift in the air around you. You felt the pull of something lingering, a moment that hadn’t quite finished yet.
But then, in a smooth, almost predatory motion, he reached for your hand. Instead of shaking it, he pressed it gently to his lips, his breath warm against your skin. It was an act of such quiet intimacy that it caught you off guard, the sudden closeness making your pulse quicken.
For a split second, you hesitated, caught between politeness and a strange surge of discomfort. But before you could think too much about it, you jerked your hand away, the movement sharp, almost defiant.
Rupert chuckled lowly, a knowing glint in his eyes. “Touchy, aren’t we?” he remarked, the words laced with amusement but underpinned with something else, something harder.
Your heart thudded in your chest as you turned away, taking a breath to steady yourself.
The conversation, the unspoken tension—it was all unraveling, leaving behind the brittle veneer of professionalism that had kept you in check.
Despite your protests, Rupert insisted in accompanied you to the grand entrance of the Campbell-Black estate, his presence beside you unexpectedly warm despite his usual aloofness.
There was a slight tension in the air, an unspoken undercurrent that made the walk feel longer than it should have.
Perhaps it was the way his casual remarks seemed to chip away at your defenses, or maybe it was something in the way his eyes lingered on you just a second longer than necessary. You couldn’t decide.
“So,” he said, his voice dropping slightly, “you’re really not going to tell me anything about your life in Paris?”
You glanced up at him, surprised by the sudden shift. “Paris?” you teased, a grin forming on your lips. “Do you know that I live in England? In a town, not far from London.”
He chuckled, raising an eyebrow. “I suppose Paris could get a little too chaotic. But I imagine life in an English town must be… more peaceful?”
You shrugged playfully. “Peaceful, yes. Maybe too peaceful. I mean, quiet streets are more my speed than the… vibrance of Paris.”
He smiled, clearly amused.
Before you could reply, a loud bark interrupted the moment, followed by the pitter-patter of paws on the marble floor. Two large, slobbering dogs came bounding around the corner of the hall, tails wagging enthusiastically.
They spotted you instantly, and before you could react, one of them lunged toward you, nose twitching excitedly.
You froze, your eyes wide and your heart pounding. Dogs. You hated dogs. It was strange, considering your work as a veterinarian, but when it came to dogs, you always braced yourself. Most of the time, they were calm, and if not, someone was there to help. But seven dogs charging straight at you? Yeah, no.
“Woah!” you squealed, taking an instinctive step backward, hands raised in a panic. “Oh my God—”
Rupert’s laughter boomed through the hallway, but there was no mockery in it, just pure amusement. He quickly stepped in front of you, guiding the dogs back with a firm but gentle hand. “Sorry about them. They’re a bit enthusiastic.”
You were still frozen, trying to suppress the irrational panic building in your chest. “I—I’m not really… a dog person,” you managed, your voice tight.
He raised an eyebrow, a playful curiosity in his gaze. “Really? Then what do you like?”
You were still half-hidden behind him, trying to avoid the dogs, and your brain, in a panicked scramble for an answer, came up with something entirely ridiculous. “Cows.”
Rupert blinked, clearly taken aback. “Cows?”
You rushed to explain, the words tumbling out in a flurry. “Yeah, you know... they’re calm, low-maintenance. I grew up on a farm... in the countryside, and—” You trailed off, realizing just how absurd you must sound.
Rupert’s smirk returned, though this time it was softer, less mocking, almost like he was seeing a different side of you. “Well, that’s a first,” he said, the amusement dancing in his eyes. “I’ve never had a woman tell me she prefers cows to dogs.”
You felt a flush rise to your cheeks, embarrassed, but oddly relieved by the absurdity of it all. “It’s the truth, though. Cows are just... easier to handle.”
“Fair enough,” he said, stepping back to give the dogs a little more space. They sniffed you cautiously, their noses twitching in curiosity but respecting the invisible boundary you’d created. “I’ll make sure they keep their distance from now on.”
The dogs seemed to sense the shift, obediently sitting beside Rupert, their tails giving a lazy wag, as if in approval. The air between you both lightened, the earlier tension dissolving into something a little more comfortable, though still charged with an undeniable undercurrent.
Your eyes met his briefly, and in that fleeting moment, there was something unspoken between you—a spark, perhaps, or just the ridiculousness of the situation. You couldn’t tell.
As you walked toward the door, Rupert’s presence beside you was oddly comforting, though you couldn’t quite shake the awareness that something else lingered in the air between you.
Just before you reached the door handle, one last bark echoed from behind you, and you turned to see the dogs sitting, tails wagging furiously.
Rupert glanced back, a grin spreading across his face. “They’ll be fine. I promise.”
“Thanks,” you said quietly, then added with a laugh, “And for the record, I’m still more of a cow person.”
He shook his head, still grinning. “I’ll remember that. Cows, not dogs. Got it.”
The door clicked shut behind you, an uneasy feeling lingered in your chest. The awkwardness, the subtle tension, his smile that never seemed to falter—all of it replayed in your mind, leaving you wondering what just happened and how everything had shifted so quickly.
You shook your head, trying to push the lingering thoughts away. It was over. You’d never have to face him again.
At least, that’s what you told yourself.
Still, a quiet, persistent voice deep inside whispered that this was only the beginning.
As you glanced in the rearview mirror, watching the manor shrink into the distance, you whispered to yourself, A bientôt, Monsieur Rupert.

Law stood at the entrance of the bustling campus cafeteria, scanning the area for a place to grab a quick lunch. Amid the crowd, he noticed a girl passionately discussing a book with a group of friends. Her energy and enthusiasm were captivating, and for a moment, Law found himself intrigued.
As he watched, she suddenly stopped mid-sentence and began to sway. Her friends reached out, but before they could react, she collapsed onto a nearby bench, sound asleep. Law's curiosity piqued. He approached her friends, who seemed unfazed by the incident.
"Is she okay?" Law asked, his voice carrying a hint of concern.
One of her friends, a short-ish guy with fluffy black hair, turned to him and smiled. "Yeah, she's fine. She has narcolepsy. It happens sometimes." He tried to swipe her pizza before a tangerine haired girl slapped his hand away.
Law nodded, filing away this new information. He glanced back at the girl, now peacefully napping, and felt a strange pull to learn more about her.
—--------
A few days later, Law found himself in the library, buried in research. He noticed the same girl from the cafeteria asleep at a nearby table, a stack of books around her. He approached quietly, debating whether to wake her.
Just then, her eyes fluttered open. She looked up at him, slightly disoriented, but quickly recovered.
“The fuck-”
"Hi, I'm sorry I startled you."
You reached for your purse as he placed an unopened gatorade on the table and motioned to the chair across from you. Remembering him from your biology class, you nodded and decided to let him sit, hand still on your pink stun gun.
"Law," he introduced himself, taking a seat across from you. "I saw you pass out in the cafeteria the other day."
You chuckled softly. "Yeah, that happens a lot. It's part of having narcolepsy."
Law nodded, his curiosity deepening. "Must be challenging."
"It can be," you admitted. "But you learn to manage. And my friends help out a lot!"
“I hope you don’t mind. I didn’t feel comfortable seeing you alone and asleep.”
'Awe, okay maybe he’s a gentleman.'
You smiled, a mischievous glint in your eye. "Well, at least if I get kidnapped, I'll be well-rested for the ransom negotiations."
Law took a sip of his coffee and immediately choked, nearly spraying it everywhere. He coughed, trying to regain his composure. "Okay, that's... that's one way to look at it," he said, laughing and wiping his mouth. "I guess I'll have to stick around to make sure they demand top dollar for you."
You giggled before hushing yourself when you saw the librarian round the corner. “So sweet to drive up the asking price." You saw a genuine smile flick across Law’s lips and decided to let him stick around.
As they continued to talk, Law found himself drawn to your resilience and positive outlook. You had an infectious zest for life that Law couldn't ignore. So, over the next few weeks, you and Law grew closer.
Turns out you had the same major and classes!
He made it a point to learn more about narcolepsy, wanting to support you as best as he could. You spent time studying together, going to coffee shops, and exploring the campus.
—----------
Park Bench:
One afternoon, Law was walking through the campus park when he noticed a familiar figure sprawled on a bench. He chuckled, recognizing you immediately. You had a book resting on your chest, your peaceful expression illuminated by the dappled sunlight.
"Dreamer," he called softly, sitting beside you. He gently removed the book and adjusted your position to make you more comfortable.
Just then, Luffy and his friends passed by, noticing the scene. Luffy grinned, giving Law a thumbs up. "Taking good care of [Name], Law?"
Law rolled his eyes but couldn't hide his smile. "Yeah, Luffy. Always."
Eating:
During lunch, you and Law sat with a group of his friends. Mid-conversation, you suddenly slumped forward, asleep on the table. Law sighed, used to the sight, and gently lifted your head, placing a folded jacket under it as a makeshift pillow.
Penguin and Shachi, who were sitting across from you, exchanged amused glances. "Hands full?" Penguin questioned with a chuckle.
Law smirked. "You have no idea."
Drive-Through:
One evening, Law decided to take you out for a quick dinner. As he pulled up to the drive-through, he started to place the order when he felt a small weight hit his shoulder. Glancing over, he saw you had fallen asleep, your head resting against him.
He sighed but smiled fondly. "Yeah, can I get two cheeseburgers, one with extra pickles, and a large fries with an apple pie?" he said, already knowing your order by heart.
TA’ing a Classroom:
During one of your lectures, Law received an urgent text from Professor Garp. He hurried to the classroom, finding you asleep at your desk. Your student’s were giggling quietly, but Law's concern was evident.
"Dreamer," he whispered, gently shaking you awake. "Time to go."
You blinked up at him, embarrassed. "Sorry, Law."
"It's okay," he said softly, helping you gather your things. "Let's get you somewhere comfortable."
He picked you up like a small teddy bear and shuffled you out of the door. You gazed up at him, your eyes soft and affectionate. "I must really trust you if I keep falling asleep around you," you said, your voice barely above a whisper before sleep pulled you back under.
Coffee Shop:
You and Law were enjoying a quiet afternoon in your favorite coffee shop. As he was engrossed in a medical journal, he suddenly felt your head against his shoulder. You had fallen asleep, your coffee cup still half-full.
The barista, Sanji, who knew you both well, smiled and whispered to Law, "She’s out again, huh?"
Law nodded, carefully shifting you into his lap. "Yeah, she is."
Later that evening, while watching a movie in Law's apartment, you fell asleep with your head on his shoulder. Law softly adjusted your position, making sure you were comfortable. He watched you sleep, admiring the lovely girl he hadn't expected to drop into his life.
The next day, You woke up in Law's room, covered with a blanket. ‘He must’ve taken the couch.’ You smiled, feeling a warmth in your chest. The first rays of morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow on the room. Law knocked before walking in, holding a cup of coffee. His hair was slightly tousled, and his eyes softened as he saw you awake.
"Morning," he said, handing you a warm mug. The steam rose gently, carrying the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee. You sat up fully and pushed yourself against the headboard, your fingers brushing against his as he steadied the mug.
"Thanks," you said, taking a sip. The warmth spread through you, both from the coffee and the gesture. "You didn't have to do that."
"I wanted to," Law said simply, his voice low and sincere. "I care about you."
Your eyes softened as you looked at him, a gentle smile spreading across your face. "I care about you too, Law. Thanks for understanding."
Law smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. He reached out and tucked a strand of hair behind your ear.
"Get used to it. I'm not going anywhere."
—-
It had been a few months and you were now dating. One day, during a particularly stressful exam period, you expressed your frustration. "I feel like such a burden sometimes."
Law looked at you, his eyes serious. "You're not a burden, [Name]. You're important to me. Your condition doesn't change that." He abandoned his book and moved closer, cupping your face in his hands. His touch was gentle yet firm, grounding you.
Law's gaze softened as he rested his forehead against yours. "You're strong, and you're doing your best. We'll get through this together," he murmured, his thumbs gently stroking your cheeks. Law leaned in and placed several soft kisses along the apples of your cheeks, each one filled with reassurance and love.
The heat rose up in your chest and flood through you. "Thank you, Law,” you whispered, your voice trembling slightly. Instead of speaking more, you reached up and gently squeezed Law's hands, your eyes meeting his with a look that conveyed everything you couldn't put into words.
You closed your eyes, feeling the tension slowly melt away. In that moment, the stress of exams and the challenges of your condition seemed more manageable with Law by your side. As you both held each other close, the room filled with a comforting silence, punctuated only by the soft sounds of your breathing.
—------------------------ Moving in together!
Dating Law had always been an adventure. From the intense late-night study sessions to the countless study dates where you'd find each other engrossed in medical journals, dedication was something you both admired deeply. But it wasn’t long before you noticed the dark circles under his eyes, the way his movements grew sluggish as the night wore on, and how he often seemed distant, lost in his thoughts.
One particularly late evening, you found him in his apartment, staring at the ceiling, his eyes wide open despite the exhaustion etched into his features. It was then you realized: Law had insomnia. He never mentioned it, brushing off your concerns with a quick smile and a change of subject, but the signs were undeniable.
That little fucker!
"Law," you said softly, sitting beside him on the bed. "How long have you been dealing with this?"
He sighed, turning to face you. "A while," he admitted. "It's just part of who I am."
You frowned, brushing a hand through his hair. "But it doesn't have to be. You help me so I’m gonna help you. We can figure this out together."
It was that moment that solidified your decision to move in together. If you were going to help each other through medical school and residency, you needed to be there for one another, especially during the tough times.
Moving in together was a significant step, but it felt natural. You found comfort in the rhythm of shared routines and small domestic rituals. Mornings began with sleepy kisses and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, while evenings often ended with both of you sprawled on the couch, medical textbooks spread around, discussing cases and treatments.
Helping Law with his insomnia became part of your routine the way he helped you with your narcolepsy was part of his. You started by creating a calming nighttime environment: dim lights, soft music, and sometimes even a warm bath. But it was the nights when you held him close, your fingers running through his hair, whispering soothing words, that made the most difference.
On nights when sleep seemed to be closing in on you, you’d tackle his big goofy ass into the bed and koala him, creating a cocoon of warmth and safety. "Just breathe," you'd murmur, your voice a gentle anchor in the dark. "I've got you."
He’d relax against you, the tension slowly easing from his body as your fingers traced soothing patterns on his scalp. Sometimes, you’d hum softly, a melody you both loved, letting the music lull him into a sense of peace.
There were still nights when he'd find you asleep first, your body sprawled in the most inconvenient places — fully on top of the kitchen table, upside down on the couch, curled up in the tub (scared the literal shit outta him) or even mid-sentence on your shared bed. He'd just chuckle softly, scooping you up and carrying you to bed, placing a soft kiss on your forehead before tucking you in.
Living together was pretty lit. You learned to navigate each other’s quirks and habits, finding joy in the little things. Your bodies weird sleep patterns weren't a burden but more of a shared challenge, one you faced together. And through it all, the love between you grew stronger, built on a foundation of mutual support and understanding.
Despite the long hours and the relentless demands of your budding medical careers, you found peace in each other’s presence. The moments of rest, however fleeting, were treasured. In the quiet hours of the night, with Law’s head resting on your chest, you’d find yourself smiling, knowing that no matter how tough things got, you’d always have each other to come home to.
Your shared friends played a vital role in this journey as well. They rallied around you and Law, each offering their unique brand of support. Luffy, with his infectious energy, would drag Law into spontaneous campus adventures, exhausting him just enough to help him sleep better. There was a time when Luffy insisted on a late-night beach bonfire, where the sound of the waves and the warmth of the fire finally lulled Law into a deep sleep.
Zoro, in his own quiet way, introduced Law to meditation and breathing exercises, often practicing together in the early mornings before the day’s chaos began. Sanji would cook up hearty meals designed to promote sleep (for you energy), slipping herbal teas into your nightly routine.
"Chamomile for the win," he'd say with a wink, handing Law a steaming cup.
Nami and Robin took a more research-based approach, scouring medical journals and holistic remedies to find anything that might help. They'd often have evenings where they'd share their findings, creating a comprehensive plan that combined traditional and alternative methods.
Chopper, being a doctor prodigy himself, was a great ally. He frequently checked on Law’s progress, suggesting adjustments to his routine or medication.
And then there was Usopp and Franky, who used their engineering skills to design a customized, noise-canceling sleep mask and a comfortable, ergonomic bed that helped reduce stress and promote better sleep. Even Brook, with his calming violin melodies, would sometimes play soothing lullabies, his skeletal fingers dancing over the strings.
Law's friends, initially unsure about your condition, quickly adapted. Bepo, a tall dark skinned man with the best hugs anyone could ever give, and one of Law's closest friends, would carry You to a comfortable spot whenever you fell asleep in odd places. Penguin and Shachi would create makeshift beds with their hats whenever they saw you clock out at the study table. Ikkaku didn’t play about your safety either. If you fell asleep at the pub then she was keeping her arm around you at all times until Law could take you home.
Damn you loved everybody!!~
Living together, surrounded by such a supportive group of friends, made the journey easier. The nights were no longer something to dread but moments of bonding and care. You and Law found a balance, each learning to lean on the other, and the support of your shared friends only strengthened your resolve.
—---------
At Home:
Law arrived home first, pacing the living room as he waited for you. Today he wasn’t able to drive you both due to him being on call. Hearing your car pull up, he stepped outside, just in time to see you struggling to stay awake. Opening the car door for you, he teased, "I'm surprised you didn't fall asleep again."
You smiled sheepishly. "I tried my best." You threw him your keys and decided to leave the bags in the car.
He lifted you effortlessly, carrying you inside. "You need to be more careful, sweetheart. I worry about you."
"You always worry," you replied, resting your head against his shoulder.
"And I'll never stop," he said softly, placing a gentle kiss on your forehead.
Inside, Law set you down on the couch, handing you a glass of water. You looked up at him, eyes filled with gratitude and affection. He sat beside you, taking your hand. "I'll always take care of you, Dreamer. Just promise me you'll try to be more careful."
"I promise," you said, squeezing his hand.
—--------
Office Couch:
One late evening, you finished your shift at the hospital and decided to check on Law in his office. Opening the door quietly, you found him slumped over his desk, fast asleep. His dark circles and the clutter of medical journals around him told you he hadn't been sleeping well.
Smiling softly, you walked over and gently shook his shoulder. "Babe, you need to sleep properly."
He groaned, barely awake. "I'm fine, my love."
"No, you're not," you insisted, helping him up. You led him to the couch in his office, coaxing him to lie down. Once he was settled, you snuggled up beside him, your warmth and presence easing him into a deeper sleep.
Living Room:
One night, you woke up to find the bed empty. Knowing Law's struggle with insomnia, you got up and found him on the couch, wide awake and staring at the ceiling.
"Law," you whispered, sitting beside him. "Can't sleep again?"
He sighed, shaking his head. "No."
Without a word, you laid down beside him, making yourself the big spoon. You wrapped your arms around him, pulling him close. "You know, I don't mind being your personal pillow," you murmured, your fingers gently playing with his hair.
He relaxed against you, his tense muscles slowly unwinding. Your soothing voice and gentle touch worked their magic, and before long, he drifted off to sleep in your embrace.
University Library:
During a late-night study session in the library, you found Law fast asleep amidst a pile of books. You knew he had been pushing himself too hard, so you carefully moved the books aside and slid in next to him.
"Couldn't stay awake without me, huh?"
You wrapped an arm around him, nuzzling your head against his shoulder like a cat. The warmth of your body and the steady rhythm of your breathing provided him with a sense of comfort. Even in his sleep, he instinctively pulled you closer, just loving your presence.
Bedroom:
One particularly rough night, you woke to Law pacing the hallway, unable to settle down. You got out of bed and approached him, wrapping your arms around his waist from behind.
"Come back to bed, Baby," you whispered, pressing a gentle kiss to his back.
He sighed, leaning into your touch. "I can't sleep," he found your hands and raised them to his lips to plant kisses on the back of them. You booped his nose before kissing his shoulder blades. “C’mon,”
You pulled backwards to guide him to the bed and fell backwards, making yourself the big spoon. As you held him close, you began to talk softly, recounting your day and telling him stories. Your fingers threaded through his hair, your voice soothing and rhythmic.
Gradually, you felt his breathing even out, his body relaxing completely. You stayed like that, holding him until you were sure he was deeply asleep, knowing that your presence was his anchor.
Kitchen:
Early one morning, you found Law asleep at the kitchen table, his head resting on his folded arms. He had clearly been up all night, working on something.
You sighed softly, shaking your head with a fond smile. "Oh, babe."
Carefully, you lifted him from the chair, supporting his weight as you guided him to the bedroom. Once he was settled in bed, you climbed in beside him, snuggling close.
"I've got you," you whispered, pressing a kiss to his forehead. He mumbled something incoherent, suddenly wrapping an arm around your hips as he drifted deeper into slumber.
You stayed with him, knowing that even in his dreams, he needed the reassurance of your presence.
After graduation—----
Years had passed since your days as a medical student, and now you were a fully-fledged doctor, training young residents alongside Law. The hospital environment was a bustling hub of activity, and your relationship with Law had to be kept under wraps from the higher-ups. Despite the secrecy, your students couldn't help but notice the chemistry between you two.
"I swear, the Trafalgar’s are such an adorable couple," one of your residents whispered to another during a break.
"Totally! He's all grumpy and she's like his sunshine! They're like hospital mom and dad," the other replied with a grin.
Unbeknownst to them, their playful shipping was not far from the truth. Law's stern demeanor contrasted with your warm, approachable nature, creating a dynamic that both baffled and endeared your students. They would often turn to you for guidance, seeing you as a nurturing figure, while Law's gruff exterior masked his deep care for his residents and patients.
(Freaking softy~)
Despite the progress in managing your narcolepsy, there were still moments when it caught up with you. It never happened during lectures or patient interactions, but sometimes during lunch, in your car, or in the privacy of your office, you would fall into a deep sleep, impossible to wake up from.
One afternoon, after a particularly exhausting morning, you found yourself nodding off during lunch. Your residents, familiar with your condition, quickly alerted Law with a series of beeps. He arrived shortly after, a mix of concern and affection in his eyes as he gently lifted you into his arms.
"You've got to be more careful, Dreamer," he whispered, carrying you to his office where you could sleep undisturbed.
He placed you on the couch, covering you with a soft blanket. Your peaceful expression as you slept brought a smile to his face, even as he sighed at the thought of how hard you pushed yourself.
In the Car:
One evening, after a long shift, you decided to take a moment to rest in your car before heading home. Law was finishing up some paperwork when one of your residents knocked on his door, slightly panicked.
"Dr. Trafalgar? Dr. Trafalgar fell asleep in her car. We can't wake her up."
Law's expression softened as he nodded. "I'll take care of it."
He found you in your car, head resting against the window, completely out cold. Carefully, he opened the door and gently lifted you out, carrying you back to his office.
"Dreamer," he murmured, settling you on the couch once more. "You really need to take it easy."
In Your Office:
During a rare moment of downtime, you had decided to catch up on some paperwork in your office. The next thing you knew, you were waking up to the feeling of Law's arms around you, lifting you from your chair.
"Can't resist taking a nap just to be in my arms?" he teased, carefully carrying you to his office.
You mumbled something incoherent, still barely unconscious, but snuggled closer to him. Law chuckled softly, his heart swelling with affection.
—-----
Law glanced at his phone, the familiar chime indicating a new message. It was from one of the medical students.
"Dr. Trafalgar, she fell asleep in the common room again."
He sighed, a mix of exasperation and fondness crossing his features. Quickly gathering his things, he made his way to the common room. As he entered, he saw you slumped over a pile of textbooks, softly snoring. The sight of you asleep, with your hair slightly tousled and your face relaxed, made him smile despite his concern.
"Dreamer," he murmured, gently shaking your shoulder.
You stirred, blinking sleepily up at him. "Law...?"
"Couldn't wait to fall into my arms, huh?" he smirked, squatting down to your height to plant a kiss on your sleepy head.
He gently lifted you into his arms, feeling your head nestled against his shoulder. Your soft breaths tickled his neck, reminding him of how much he adored these moments, even though he wished they didn't happen under such circumstances. As he carried you through the corridors, fellow doctors and nurses exchanged knowing smiles and whispered comments about the devoted couple.
Arriving at his office, Law gently placed you on the couch he had designated for moments like these. He covered you with a warm, soft blanket and brushed a stray hair from your face. You looked so peaceful, so vulnerable, and it tugged at his heartstrings.
"You're lucky I found you," he said, his tone lighter. "Guess who's getting extra assignments as punishment?"
You pouted, still half-asleep. " 'S not fair..."
"Life's not fair," he replied, smirking. "Ah, you're so cute. Don't even remember we're doctors now."
You mumbled something incoherent, your eyes half-closed, but a playful thought crossed your mind. "No, but I know who I married!~"
Law's eyes widened in realization, a grin spreading across his face. "Oh, look who's not really asleep!"
Before you could respond, he unleashed a tickle attack, making you squirm and squeal uncontrollably. The light of his office caught your wedding rings, making them shine brightly. You tried to fend him off, but your laughter and sleepiness weakened your defenses.
"Law! Stop!" you giggled, trying to catch your breath.
With a mischievous glint in your eye, you decided to turn the tables. You reached up and bit his collarbone, catching him off guard, before you began to tickle him back. Law's deep chuckles filled the room as he tried to evade your wiggly fingers, but you were relentless.
"Don’t you dare!" he managed between laughs, his usual stoic expression replaced with one of pure joy.
The two of you ended up rolling around on the couch, tickling and laughing until you were both breathless and tangled in the blanket. You finally stopped, both of you lying there, panting and grinning at each other.
"Okay, okay, truce," Law said, holding up his hands in surrender.
You snuggled closer to him, resting your head on his chest. "Truce," you agreed, your eyes closing as you felt the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.
Law wrapped his arms around you, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead. "Get some rest, my wife. I've got you."
As you drifted back to sleep, the warmth of the blanket and Law's presence lulling you into a peaceful slumber, Law watched over you, his heart full of love and admiration for his wife.
His wife!
The two of you had made it through college, med school, residency, board exams, your shitty sleep schedules and really made it out the other end.
The sight of you nestled comfortably, your hair fanned out on the pillow, brought a sense of worship over him. He gently adjusted the blanket around you again, ensuring you were snug and warm. As he settled back into his chair to work, the sound of your soft, steady breathing was the sweetest music to his ears. It filled the room with a sense of calm, a gentle reminder of the love and life you shared.
Law often found himself pausing in his work to steal glances at you, his heart pounding against his ribs. Your presence grounded him, reminded him of what truly mattered. The stresses of the day faded into the background, replaced by the serene comfort of your love.
He marveled at your resilience, your unwavering spirit, and the way you faced each day with a smile, despite the challenges your condition brought. And then you had to go in and save him, too. With your warmth, the gentle touches and those little kisses you ghosted over him while he slept. All those nights he couldn’t sleep he was shakey and on the verge of tears and you’d bathe him and calm him down. You let him into your life and he was going to thank you every day for it.
With you, even the mundane felt extraordinary. And as he sat there, watching over you, he couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude. Blessed for your love, your partnership, and the beautiful journey you were on together. Life, with all its unpredictability and challenges, was perfect because he had you to share it with.
Despite the casual chaos of your busy lives, this moment reminded him of why he cherished you so deeply. Life, with all its demands and pressures, was brighter with you by his side. And as he worked, the sound of your soft, steady breathing was the sweetest music to his ears.
“I love you.”

Another post about Bones AU!
hello again! This time I want to talk about the supporting cast: interns, fbi agents and some other guys.
I want to preface this with a little note that my knowledge of american education (and any other) system is very surface level. And all of this is made up anyway, so don't sweat it. also acab
Mr. Alex Albon
Minors in veterinary medicine. The honorary intern on the case where they find a bull penis in the evidence. After that it's revealed that he has 7 cats, 2 dogs and even a horse. After graduating he will probably go work as a vet at the National Zoo.
Alex is bright and funny, he is down to earth, but very professional and smart. Rumor has it he is in some kind of relationship with George Russell.
I imagine he is fine working with corpses, but at the end of the day his heart is in the veterinary medicine, so after a few internships in the lab he announces that he managed to get hours at the Zoo, so he won't be in the lab anymore. Despite that, he still has to help on some cases when no one else can.
Mr. George Russell
Besides anthropology, he also studies archeology and will probably end up in the Authentications Department after graduating.
He is usually interns in Authentications, but a few times he has to help at the lab, when other squints are unavailable. He hates working with corpses and one time is found crying in the lounge after he has to help solve a child's murder.
George is reserved and serious about keeping it professional in the lab. But after you know him better, you will learn that he is very passionate and a big gossip (he probably started that rumor himself)
Dr. Fernando Alonso
Works in Palaeonthology department, but has anthropological education so a couple of times he helps in the lab when there are no avaliable squints.
Since they are both Spanish and share a passion of biology and geology, Carlos and Fernando are good friends and often help each other.
One time he has to help in the lab and one of the Institute's sponsors, Lance Stroll pays a visit. Something happens between the two
The Stroll family
The Strolls are the main benefactors of the Institute and sponsor a lot of it's campaigns. Lawrence Stroll is the head of the family and has a son and heir of the company – Lance Stroll.
Lance is very enthusiastic about the Lab and sometimes likes to visits and hover around to see how the cases are solved. After a couple of times people just accept it and even include Lance in conversations and explain things to him. In return Lance tries to help with fundings and internships. His knowledge in business and other affairs helped solve the cases on numerous occasions (he is very proud of that).
Mr. Yuki Tsunoda
Yuki studies anthropology, but is very passionate about chemistry. He is a food enthusiast and is very interested in the field of molecular kitchen. Despite studying to be an anthropologist, he plans on working in a molecular kitchen restaurant, although he still takes studying and working in the lab responsibly.
Daniel is a big wine enthusiast and dreams of making his own wine one day, so when he learns about Yuki's food hobby, the two quickly bond. Yuki even takes Daniel to a few molecular kitchen restaurants.
Mr. Liam Lawson
Liam is a the first intern to fill the space after Oscar. Because of that the crew feels really weird about him being there. But after a few weeks of working together they became good friends.
Daniel and Liam quickly bond over their shared love of American football and sometimes even play the sport together.
Yes, Liam also thinks Max is flirting with him at the start, but Charles quickly explains that this is just Max being Max (this happened in the show, I swear)
Agents Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon
They both work in the Cyber division of the FBI. Their friendship feels weird and strained to the outsiders, but Pierre and Esteban refuse to tell anyone what happened between them. Despite that, they often work together and do it well.
During one of the cases where a hacker is involved, Agent Gasly is put on the case and he and Charles work together to catch the killer. During this time they develop a connection and quickly start dating after (this happenes when Charles and Carlos decide to take a break). But since Carlos is Charles' true love, the relationship with Pierre doesn't work out, but they stay good friends afterwards
Mr. Guanuy Zhou
Guanyu spends a couple of months in America as an exchange student from China. During that time he is given internship hours at the lab and helps to solve a case. He is studying to be a forensic anthropologist in China.
Agents Kevin Magnussen and Niko Hulkenberg
Agents Magnussen and Hulkenberg used to serve with Daniel in military and went through war together. But after Daniel went to Criminal, Cyber, Response, and Services Branch (specifically the violent crime division), Hulk and Magnussen went to National Secutiry. Sometimes they meet to have a few beers together
Valterri Bottas
As one of the best anthropologist in the world, Max is asked to go to Finland to assess and authenticate some very old and important remains. Daniel decides to go with Max (obviously). But in classic Bones fashion a murder happens during their stay and Max and Daniel have to solve it. A local police officer Valterri Bottas helps them with the case.
Prof. Gianpiero Lambiase
Ok so in the show it's established that Brennan has slept and dated her professor and mentor (although I don't remember if it happened after her graduation or during her years in the university)
So I decided why not. Max dated his professor and mentor GP after graduating university. It was brief and they never took it seriously, because it was mainly just lust.
But one day GP decides to visit the lab. Daniel is not thrilled to find about Max's and GP's relationship (but at this point he won't say anything about it to Max).
Agent Sergio Perez
So uh. I kind of forgot about him till this moment and almost hit post lol.
I decided just now that he works in Organized crime division and helps during one of the cases. Sorry Checo, I forgor.
Ok so this is obviously not all the people in f1, but at this point I think it's enough. But feel free to make your own headcanons about how this or that f1 person fits in this au.

What careers I think the counselors pursued after the quarry.
Most of these are based off the jobs they worked at camp.
Laura - Easy. Veterinary medicine. Specifically I think she’d be more comfortable working at a zoo or a wildlife reserve with tigers or bears (real bears) instead of putting animals down all day.
Max - after not getting accepted into whatever college Laura did, he decided not to pursue college. Or maybe he did, and just took online courses instead so he wouldn’t have to be away from Laura. Either way, he ends up becoming a mechanic.
Jacob - I’m honestly not sure, but he definitely has a sports scholarship. I’m not sure he knew himself what exact career he wanted to pursue during the events of the game, but I could see him becoming a physical therapist or a personal trainer. Maybe both.
Kaitlyn - Gets a degree in business and runs her own. Not sure what type of business, but boy is she running it. She starts small but definitely climbs the latter and becomes a rather impressive business woman (KAITLYN IN A SUIT KAITLYN IN A SUIT)
Ryan - He does end up going to animation school, but halfway through one of his grandparents gets really sick and passed. The other dies of a broken heart less than a year afterwards, so he’s forced to drop out to provide for Sarah. He ends up moving the both of them in with Dylan eventually so can get by. Luckily a small indie studio hires him despite not having a degree and he’s able to make ends meet.
Nick - Culinary arts. My only reference for this is the fact that he works in the kitchen at camp. But it’s fitting. I’d imagine he’d the type of person who can make a really impressive meal out of seemingly nothing. Yelling for runners is also a pretty good way to purge those anger issues of his.
Dylan - Quantum Physics, obviously. I could definitely see him using science theories to try and explain the whole werewolf incident. Eventually I think he’d end up working at a research center trying to figure out nuclear fission. He ends up becoming the breadwinner between him and Ryan.
Abi - She went to art school and dropped out because she didn’t agree with what she was being taught. She ends up doing commissions online with the help of Emma for publicity, eventually she also ends up working with Ryan at the indie studio as a character design artist.
Emma - You can’t tell me this diva isn’t going into theatre. Her dream role is Regina George. She also keeps up her online presence, but goes on hiatus for a bit during college. Ends up as a VA in one of Indie Animation Company ™’s projects and gives them a boost in popularity.

Yuri coughs lightly; caught in 4k unprepared. He hadn't expected Jiro to catch that. "Well...." He might as well continue to play along, "hypothetically...three sounds like a good number. Two girls and a boy, ideally."
The thought appeared in his head every so often, the dreams come and go. At first he was convinced he just wanted a future where Jiro could live on his own, maybe find a wife of his own and have all the family he deserves. Yuri isn't sure at what point he became determined to make himself part of that future. But when he saw Jiro interacting with the honor student....
Well, it had gotten more frequent. They laughed casually, he teased her and she looked at him with eyes that...Those looks are supposed to be mine. Those smiles are supposed to be mine. "The more detailed, the better the direction. I am a professional, after all."
"Apropos of nothing, Jiro," Yuri says out of the blue one day, "suppose some day in the far future we have children. What sort of name would you choose?"
@ask-doctor-isami
It was an unusual question to ask out of the blue, but Jiro would humor him. "Names for our children, huh?" He crosses his arms, a hint of a pensive look on his face. "If it were completely up to me, I'd probably name a son after my brother. A daughter though..." A beat of silence. "Flowers come to mind. Perhaps something like Sakura or Himawari. I'd be looking for your input on our hypothetical child's name of course. They'd be just as much yours as mine." Jiro never gave the idea of having children much thought. Between the long work hours, the dangers of Darkwick missions and his own poor health, he never thought it would be possible. Then again, the pair had an entire lab at their disposal. They could probably use a tank as an artificial womb of sorts, plus they likely had the means to changes sperm cells into eggs if necessary. Perhaps one day if things changed. A quiet domestic life with Yuri seemed like a far-off dream, but given his own resurrection against impossible odds, anything seemed possible with enough determination - something Yuri had no shortage of.
#yuri be like two girls and a boy and one will take after me and go into infectious diseases and the other will do sports medicine#and our son will be a spoiled little prince who goes into veterinary care and spends summers with his uncle haru#but uh you know that's all hypothetical of course#Jiro x Yuri

The Shinsous
I keep on making more content about my headcanon Shinsou Hitoshi's parents and wanted to share some sketches and more lore so follow me on 'More'.
Facts about Shinsou Family:
Age gap between Utami and Kazuro is 6 years.
Kazuro's parents were domineering and strict people and came from a long line of mathematicians. All his life, he was compared to his elder sister Mikuru, who to achieved a prestigious job and a rich life thanks to her Quirk, Accurate Outlook. They demanded that he get a lucrative and decent job and a good wife. When Kazuro introduced Utami to his family, they told him to choose between them and his fiancee. He parted his ways with parents forever, cut off all ties and married the woman he loved.
Mikuru, Kazuro's sister, loved Kazuro much more than their parents and practically raised him herself. She saw how hard it was for him to have social relationships, change schools, and the constant nagging of their parents. Mikuru was the first to see signs of depression in her brother and took him out of the dorms and first time gave him money for medicines when he graduated.
Utami's life wasn't very happy. Her mother raised her on her own in a small village. Almost all entertainment, hobbies, sports and clubs were forbidden to her because of her Quirk. There were even more problems at school after she became a teenager. Some of her ex-boyfriends accused her of debauchery and even coercion because of the Siren Call. When she grew up, she and her mother moved to a bigger city and she enrolled in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
When Hitoshi was 5 years old, Utami was attacked. She was picking him up from daycare when one of the inadequate parents accused her of seducing their spouse and stabbed her in the back. Hitoshi screamed and beat the attacker until they responded and the boy used Brainwashing to save his mother. After the attack, Kazuro and Utami quit their jobs, took Hitoshi and moved to another place to start a new life.
They have two rescued cats living at home.
Hitoshi's grandmother, Miryoku Yukari (Utami's mother), was delighted with Hitoshi's birth and when Shinsous came to her she looked after him.
Speedpaint of my tired little couple! Do people nowadays call it speedpaint? I don't know... I recorded my first speedpaint when I was 12 years old and dropped it on YouTube.
Anyway, I wanted to show their tenderness through this hug-almost-making-out. They are both extremely exhausted every day and hardly find some time for each other.

hi, good morning/night! I'm a high school student hoping to become a veterinarian someday. do you have any advice on volunteer opportunities, eventually applying to the veterinary medicine program, or really anything else?
Good morning! High school is the perfect time to begin building your resume. I started working in the kennel at a vet clinic between my junior and senior years. If a part-time job is something you're considering, try visiting your local vet hospitals to see which of them hire high schoolers. Not all do, so don't become discouraged. If part-time work is unavailable, or something that doesn't fit into your schedule right now, many vets are willing to let students shadow them. It's a great introduction to the field and gives you the opportunity to ask a lot of questions.
At this stage in your journey, any experience with animals (outside of owning your own pets) is very helpful, even if not in a veterinary context. Humane societies, zoos, wildlife centers, farms/stables, and boarding kennels are examples of places you may be able to find work or volunteer experience. If you are based in the US and will be applying through the VMCAS, non-veterinary animal experience is still considered and will be logged on your application.
Another extremely important thing you can do: pursue your interests outside of animals and vet medicine. Sports, music, art, cosplay, community outreach, whatever it is you enjoy. Vet schools look for applicants that are unique and have passions and hobbies aside from animals. That was probably my biggest mistake when I applied. I was a cookie-cutter "good vet school applicant" with nothing that made me stand out.
I hope that's helpful! Best of luck!

OC Interview
I've been seeing people do two characters at once, so I'll do Sepo and Izjik as a pair :)
.
Are you named after anyone?
Izjik: "My name is a common one where I'm from, but I don't think I was named after anyone specific, no."
Sepo: "If I was, my mother croaked before she could tell me."
When was the last time you cried?
Izjik: "I dropped a bag of hammers on my foot at work the other day and spirits, they probably heard be about ten miles over!"
Sepo: "I don't cry."
Izjik: "Yes the fuck you do? Broody bastard. I saw you tearing up when we went and saw that new band. You cried last time you had to deal with the bounty guild because the guild leader makes you so damn angry. I know for a fact you get weepy every time you get so much as three drinks in you."
Sepo: "...no comment. Bitch."
Do you have kids?
Sepo: "You'd fucking think we do looking after Twenari. And she's not even half the trouble Djek is - and he's a grown-ass man."
Izjik: "Cut him some slack, he's like nineteen. But yeah, two kids pretty much. I've even been to a PTA meeting! That makes me certified parental material!"
Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Sepo: "Nooo, never..."
Izjik: "Low hanging fruit, my guy. I'm usually not sarcastic, though - it's not my style."
What is the first thing you notice about people?
Izjik: "If they're going to try to kill and eat me."
Sepo: "Ditto. Then I move on to what makes them annoying."
Izjik: "You're so negative, you know that? My second impression is their hands. You can tell a lot about a person based on their hands."
What is your eye color?
Izjik: "Kind of a blue gray? Slate, Twenari calls it."
Sepo: "Sirens all have eyes of black."
Izjik: "And a good thing to, given how stupid big your pupils are."
Sepo: "The fuck is that supposed to mean?"
Izjik: "If you had blue eyes, you'd look kinda silly is what I mean."
Scary movies or happy endings?
Sepo: "Scary, though it takes a lot to phase me."
Izjik: "Bullshit, you jump every time the camera angle changes. I like scary too, but with happy endings. Things can get bad, yeah, but it's always good to see folks making it out in the end."
Any special talents?
Izjik: "I can do a one-handed pushup!"
Sepo: "That's because one of your hands hardly works."
Izjik: "You're just a hater because you can't do one. That can be your special talent - being a hater."
Sepo: "Yes, fine, let's brush over my musical composition abilities and skills in veterinary medicine. My true special talent is being a hater."
Izjik: "Damn straight."
Where were you born?
Izjik: "The enclave of Edeme’eneha, deep in the N'Diki swamp. I think it was a lovely place to grow up, all in all. I really miss it sometimes."
Sepo: "I was born in a brothel basement in the Ulahdrian capital city of Seluthena, the largest metropolis beneath the waves. I... I also miss it sometimes."
Do you have any pets?
Izjik: "Nah. I never really got the concept of an animal you don't eat."
Sepo: "Landhorse is more of a business partner. She gets me where I need to be, and in exchange, I give her food, shelter, and pet her sweet nose from time to time. She's the best of horses, a gentlewoman among beasts."
What sort of sports do you play?
Izjik: "Does fighting for fun count? There's this bar I like where I can always get into a scrap if I'm looking for one. I think people have started placing bets every time I walk in."
Sepo: "I would go on cross-country camping trips when I was a teen in the Saryimastra Seat. That involved swimming for a few days at least, so I suppose it could be a sport. I found it very relaxing, escaping from all the noise and fuss of the temple. Sometimes Saius would go with me, but usually, I'd go off on my own."
How tall are you?
Izjik: "Tall enough to skin my fist on your teeth, lanky ass!"
Sepo: "You are five foot two. I'm six foot five. I really don't think you are."
What was your favorite subject in school?
Izjik: "I never went, but I liked learning how to set snares during my apprenticeship. It was the only thing I'd sit still for. Looking back, maybe that's why Dzako had me learn so many."
Sepo: "My education was rather... propaganda-filled. Most of the history I enjoyed learning turned out to be false. A lot of the books I read were horribly censored, though I didn't know it at the time. I suppose music. You can twist the words and intentions of music to whatever aims you wish, but the heart of it is always pure."
What is your dream job?
Izjik: "I mean, whatever gets me paid and let's me work outside. I heard Twenari talking once about these people called potion hunters? Apparently, they hunt magical plants and animals for alchemists to use in their work. That sounds like a hell of a lot of fun!"
Sepo: "I've... This is going to sound stupid, but I've always wanted to compose my own songs. In Ulahdris, music was strictly regulated and created by the church. But here on the surface? It's chaos. Any asshole with a kazoo can play whatever he wants. I... Oh, it's all nonsense anyways. I'm fine doing what I need to in order to survive."
Izjik: "You've gotta let yourself live a little, Sepo. I'd love to hear your music!"
Sepo: "Truly? Then... Then perhaps someday, I'll work up the courage."
.
World's most married platonic soulmates, for real. I'll tag @kaylinalexanderbooks @mk-writes-stuff @sleepyowlwrites @corinneglass and anyone else who wants to play :)

15 questions for 15 friends
Thanks for the tags @sky-kenobye @somethingsteff and @cottonraincoat!!! 💛
1. Are you named after anyone?
Yep! The first part of my first name is a combination of my parents' names and the second part is a combination of my grandmothers' names 😆
2. When was the last time you cried?
I think the other day while reading a fanfic AHAHAHHA I cry easily and I never keep track 😭
3. Do you have kids?
Nope! Don't have plans either (my mother despairs over not getting a grandkid from me 😆)
4. What sports do you play/ have you played?
I love badminton, table tennis, and arnis/kali! Used to play the first two in elementary and highschool, but still play it casually with family. The latter I took up in college but I do it sometimes when I just wanna burn off steam 🥹
5. Do you use sarcasm?
Not really! I find it hard to tell when people use sarcasm on me but I like it as a humor thing when other people use it ✨
6. What's the first thing you notice about people?
Cheeks and ears because I find it hard to make eye contact with someone I just met 🥹
7. What's your eye colour?
Brown!
8. Scary movies or happy endings?
Happy endings all the way 💛 I can do scary movies when I'm watching with someone else but never when I'm alone 😆
9. Any talents?
I can sing??? Not good enough to go on contests, though, I just like to sing when I'm alone or with friends, especially in karaoke 😆
10. Where were you born?
Born and bred in the Philippines!
11. What are your hobbies?
Writing, reading, and drawing! Took up diamond painting and embroidery sometime in 2022 but never picked it up again 😭
12. Do you have any pets?
Yep! My family has dogs, fishes, and chickens. Want a cat but I'm the only one in the house who likes them and the dogs hate them too 😭
13. How tall are you?
153cm, so that's 5'1ft???
14. Favourite subject in school?
Used to love Math and English in elementary and highschool! In college, though, my love for a subject highly depends on the prof so last semester I was into my poultry medicine subject ✨
15. Dream job?
Honestly I just wanted to sweep floors until they're clean or do crafts and sell them as a living 😆 But on a serious note, recently I had the itch to focus my major in veterinary on wildlife medicine, so hopefully someday I'll be out there treating and helping wild animals ✨
That was fun! Thank you for the tag again guys! 💛 And zero pressure tagging @aigoos @spikybanana @tideswept @veloursdor @thequeerlibrarian @underacalicosky @barmadumet @virahaus @heretolurkandnothingmore @dearskywander @amadwinter @briliantlymad @mischievouschan4 @samstree @forevermorgue if ya want! Don't mind me if you've been tagged already 💛 Also open for anyone who wants to do the game!

The twins are 18!
Rahim was the class valedictorian and Layla was the class salutatorian! Seeing both of them give speeches at the graduation ceremony warmed this momma’s heart.
Layla is off to Foxbury to study astronomy. Rahim’s taking a gap year before heading to Prescott University in Copperdale to study veterinary medicine.
Personality wise, nothing has changed about Layla. She’s zeroed in on her goals and can’t wait to take on university and become an astronaut! She’s already telling me how she wants to join student government, the astrophysics club, the e-sports gaming team, the women in STEM association, and a sorority. I’m exhausted just thinking about it but Layla is excited at all the opportunities for leadership. As for her brother, Rahim is a huge flirt. Luckily for us he’s getting married soon so we don’t have to worry about him wooing anymore ladies.
Yours, Isioma <3
(Layla rolled the ambitious trait and Rahim rolled romantic. Fitting for both of them.)
