Additionally, Kaitlyn runs the animation company Ryan, Abi, and Emma work for
What careers I think the counselors pursued after the quarry.
Most of these are based off the jobs they worked at camp.
Laura - Easy. Veterinary medicine. Specifically I think she’d be more comfortable working at a zoo or a wildlife reserve with tigers or bears (real bears) instead of putting animals down all day.
Max - after not getting accepted into whatever college Laura did, he decided not to pursue college. Or maybe he did, and just took online courses instead so he wouldn’t have to be away from Laura. Either way, he ends up becoming a mechanic.
Jacob - I’m honestly not sure, but he definitely has a sports scholarship. I’m not sure he knew himself what exact career he wanted to pursue during the events of the game, but I could see him becoming a physical therapist or a personal trainer. Maybe both.
Kaitlyn - Gets a degree in business and runs her own. Not sure what type of business, but boy is she running it. She starts small but definitely climbs the latter and becomes a rather impressive business woman (KAITLYN IN A SUIT KAITLYN IN A SUIT)
Ryan - He does end up going to animation school, but halfway through one of his grandparents gets really sick and passed. The other dies of a broken heart less than a year afterwards, so he’s forced to drop out to provide for Sarah. He ends up moving the both of them in with Dylan eventually so can get by. Luckily a small indie studio hires him despite not having a degree and he’s able to make ends meet.
Nick - Culinary arts. My only reference for this is the fact that he works in the kitchen at camp. But it’s fitting. I’d imagine he’d the type of person who can make a really impressive meal out of seemingly nothing. Yelling for runners is also a pretty good way to purge those anger issues of his.
Dylan - Quantum Physics, obviously. I could definitely see him using science theories to try and explain the whole werewolf incident. Eventually I think he’d end up working at a research center trying to figure out nuclear fission. He ends up becoming the breadwinner between him and Ryan.
Abi - She went to art school and dropped out because she didn’t agree with what she was being taught. She ends up doing commissions online with the help of Emma for publicity, eventually she also ends up working with Ryan at the indie studio as a character design artist.
Emma - You can’t tell me this diva isn’t going into theatre. Her dream role is Regina George. She also keeps up her online presence, but goes on hiatus for a bit during college. Ends up as a VA in one of Indie Animation Company ™’s projects and gives them a boost in popularity.

my take on the white wolf!! honestly i didnt love his in game design cus despite being a big deal plot/characterwise hes like kinda visually nondescript.... hence i give him big tendrily floaty hair bits to remedy this
is that maybe some informed design decision to give him an eerie weightlessness and emphasise his ghostly, enigmatic nature? to visually echo the flames that burned the circus, defining his presence as a haunting parody of the initial trauma that unleashed him onto the hacketts? or do i just like the way the murlocs look from world of warcraft? who can say...

The Quarry>Until Dawn
okay so I know that everybody is like "Until Dawn is perfect and the Quarry is mid" but i kinda wonder how much that depends on which game you played first.
I played The Quarry first about a year ago and i just finished up Until Dawn a week ago and honestly, I was like SUPER underwhelmed. The Quarry for sure has its flaws and it's very apparent that the game was rushed but it just felt so much more engaging to me. For some reason in Until Dawn I couldn't connect with any of the characters. I didn't LOVE any of them so when they died I didn't feel that bad, only angry that I messed up. When I played The Quarry though, I genuinely couldn't part with any of the characters and i HAD to go back if one of them died. I haven't really heard anybody talk about this so I just wanted to share. (TO BE CLEAR I THINK BOTH GAMES ARE GREAT!!)

I love that Jacob could have so easily been just a one dimensional douchy jock kind of character but he's not. On a surface level he can seem to be just that but if you look deeper he's actually a layered, complex character with insecurities that he keeps hidden under his dumb frat bro persona. I just wish they could've fleshed all of that out more

If I squint hard enough, Nick was definitely protective over Abi and definitely not trying to kill her.

Anyone else think Ryan animated those little tutorials videos at Hacketts quarry?
I mean, the versions that exist in-universe, telling kids to pick up after themselves not how to do quick time events
I think that’d be pretty cool.

Dylan and Jacob are BROS.
Like their first interaction, Dylan is fully winging it, trying to gauge this ostensibly straight guys vibes and it's not long before he realises Jacob is just a big sweetheart crammed into his beefcake body.
They tag-team interactions. When Jacob tries to roast someone or say something witty but fumbles, Dylan will jump in or whisper in his ear to give him something clever to say.
If Jacob's ever confused he'll just look over at Dylan and Dylan will explain whatever it is in a way that's easy to understand.
✨So much joke flirting✨ Dylan saying "Ooh, I wish I had some singles." when Jacob was dancing is just the tip of the iceberg of the stuff they say to each other.
Whenever Jacob takes off his shirt, it's a 50/50 as to whether he'll look at Emma or Dylan and say "You like what you see?😏"
Jacob: You like guys, do you think I'm hot?
Dylan: You aren't my type but sure.
Jacob: exCUSE ME?!
Dylan hasn't been picked up since he was like fifteen before his growth spurt, but Jacob has the ability to lift his 6'2 ass off the ground and makes use of it. The look of horror on Dylan's face the first time Jacob threw him into a fireman carry without warning. If you can hear Dylan warningly saying "No, no, no, no!" across the campsite, you can guess that Jacob is charging at him like a football player ready to throw him over his shoulder.
Jacob picks Dylan up when they hug everytime. Dylan has begrudgingly accepted this and hangs like a cat.
Dylan standing behind Emma in Jacobs line of sight, giving him subtle thumbs up or shaking his head with every line Jacob throws at her.
Jacob physically standing in Ryan's way when they're getting into boats to travel to the island so Ryan has to go with Dylan. Dylan tries to resist the urge to jump into the lake when Jacob gives him completely un-subtle thumbs ups.
Dylan will relentlessly tease Jacob and mess with him for fun, but it occasionally ends with Jacob wrestling him into submission until he apologizes.

When I first heard about the Hacketters' last names I was surprised cause the characters scream American clichés but their last name really don't sound American. Now many people have discovered some last names have a meaning in other languages that kinda fit the characters so I figured I would list all the meanings (feel free to correct me if I get one wrong):
(Abigail) Blyg: "shy" in Swedish
(Kaitlyn) Ka : "map" in Chinese (as in she leads others?)
(Ryan) Erzahler : "narrator" or "storyteller" in German (Erzähler)
(Dylan) Lenivy : "lazy" in Czech
(Nick) Furcillo : "support"/"to act as a support" in Latin (or "fork" in Romanian but I doubt it's what they had in mind)
(Laura) Kearney : "warlike" in Gaelic
(Jacob) Custos : "guard" or "keeper" in Greek
(Emma) Mountebank : "charlatan" or someone who pretends to be who they are not in English
(Max) Brinly : only found "burnt meadow/wood" in English but I'm probably missing something
(Eliza and Silas) Vorez : pretty sure it comes from the Latin word "vorax" which is basically "voracious"
As for the Hacketts they probably just have a generic name
