A Swedish man survived for over two months in a snowbound car in temperatures as low as -22F (-30C), relying on the igloo effect to retain warmth, eating snow, and staying inside his warm clothes and sleeping bag.

The 45-year-old was discovered by snowmobilers who initially assumed the car was a wreck until they dug their way to a window and saw movement inside, reported the Vasterbotten Courier newspaper.

"He was in a very poor state. Poor condition. He said he'd been there for a long time and had survived on a little snow.

"He said himself he hadn't eaten anything since December,"

Doctors said they would normally expect a person to survive without food for around four weeks. One doctor told the newspaper that the man might have survived so long by going into a kind of hibernation. [source]

It's a swedish battery factory. It was hailed as the future world center for high grade battery production, until it started production around 2021. Covid was severe at the plant at that time, but the real trouble started when workers began dying randomly at home. Stories about how management wouldn't provide for even the most basic safety measures when working with dangerous substances were circulated. Workers were in many cases very vulnerable migrant workers and refugees with residency conditional on employment who were given pittences for wages.

After their books for 2022 were published it became clear that they were producing less than a third of what they had promised their investors(including a bunch of public funds). In september they fired a generous third of the workforce.

Now the police's initial report on the unexplained deaths have been released. They just say that they couldn't find what did it and therefore there's probably no connection to the poison mill so full of poisons nobody even really knows what kinds of poisons there are, where breathing masks weren't a thing until a few months ago.

The company and the unions and the public service news all hail this as a great relief. Meanwhile, the only toxicologist ever asked about this said that the plant has to be shut down until it is known what killed those people.

This has all been the vision the CEO, Peter Carlsson. He used to work for Musk as a middle manager at a tesla gigaplant, and is described as taking after the south african like a role model and mentor.

忘れた頃にやってくる Part2

前回、「コロナも完全には収束してはいない」なんて書いたもんだからその祟りが来たかもしれません。でもコロナじゃなくて我が家にインフルエンザがやってきました。流行っているとは聞いてましたけど、まさかやって来るとは。 家族がかかったのでヒヤヒヤしましたが、何とか自分には移されずに済みました。ふ〜、危ない危ない。家族ももう回復したので、ひと安心。本当に、この手の感染症は防ぎようが無いので困りますね。

さて、今回は前回からのPart２ってことで、昨年の12月に注文してやっと届いたCDの２枚目を紹介したいと思います。

Vasterbotten Wannabies

Wannadiesですが、ワナダイズと読むらしいです。スウェーデンのバンドで、1988年結成で1990年代に活躍したバンドのようなんですけど、その当時このバンド全く知りませんでした。当時スウェーデンと言えば、何つったってカーディンガンズやクラウドベリー・ジャムとかが流行っていてその辺は聞いてましたけど、こんなバンド知らなかったなぁ。知ってたらズッポリハマってたと思います。

このCDはその活躍していた90年代当時にシングルでリリースしたB面の曲ばかりを集めた企画盤です。（と、言いつつ３曲くらい代表曲も入ってます） 実はこのバンド最近また活動再開しているらしく、そんなこともあって2022年に企画盤が出たんじゃ無いかと推測していますが、確かでは無いです。日本盤も出てたようなのに、なぜCD来るのに半年もかかったは超謎です。

B面集とは言いますけど侮るなかれ、どれもシングルA面でも良かったんじゃない？っていうぐらいのカッコよさです。

B面集だけにPVがある曲がなさそうだったので、このCDにも入ってる彼らの代表曲をリンクして見ました。これ聞くとやっぱしみじみ同じギターポップでもイギリスやアメリカのそれとは違いますよね。やっぱスウェーデンって感じするもんなぁ、不思議不思議。

こんな感じで2週間に１回のペースで載せてます。次回は10/21or22頃にUPする予定です。
