Things Biden and the Democrats did, this week.
January 19-26 2024
The Energy Department announced its pausing all new liquefied natural gas export facilities. This puts a pause on export terminal in Louisiana which would have been the nation's largest to date. The Department will use the pause to study the climate impact of LNG exports. Environmentalists cheer this as a major win they have long pushed for.
The Transportation Department announced 5 billion dollars for new infrastructure projects. The big ticket item is 1 billion dollars to replace the 60 year old Blatnik Bridge between Superior, Wisconsin, and Duluth, Minnesota which has been dangerous failing since 2017. Other projects include $600 million to replace the 1-5 bridge between Vancouver, Washington, and Portland, Oregon, $427 million for the first offshore wind terminal on the West Coast, $372 million to replace the 90 year old Sagamore Bridge that connects Cape Cod to the mainland,$300 million for the Port of New Orleans, and $142 million to fix the I-376 corridor in Pittsburgh.
the White House Task Force on Reproductive Healthcare Access announced new guidance that requires insurance companies must cover contraceptive medications under the Affordable Care Act. The Biden Administration also took actions to make sure contraceptive medications would be covered under Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, and Federal Employee Health Benefits Program. HHS has launched a program to educate all patients about their rights to emergency abortion medical care under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act. This week marks 1 year since President Biden signed a Presidential Memorandum seeking to protect medication abortion and all federal agencies have reported on progress implementing it.
A deal between Democrats and Republicans to restore the expand the Child Tax Credit cleared its first step in Congress by being voted out of the House Ways and Means Committee. The Child Tax Credit would affect 16 million kids in the first year and lift 400,000 out of poverty. The Deal also includes an expansion of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit which will lead to 200,000 new low income rental units being built, and also tax relief to people affected by natural disasters
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted for a bill to allow President Biden to seize $5 billion in Russian central bank assets. Biden froze the assets at the beginning of Russia's war against Ukraine, but under this new bill could distribute these funds to Ukraine, Republican Rand Paul was the only vote against.
The Senate passed the "Train More Nurses Act" seeking to address the critical national shortage of nurses. It aims to increase pathways for LPNs to become RNs as well as a review of all nursing programs nationally to see where improvements can be made
3 more Biden Judges were confirmed, bring the total number of Judges appointed by President Biden to 171. For the first time in history the majority of federal judge nominees have not been white men. Biden has also appointed Public Defenders and civil rights attorneys breaking the model of corporate lawyers usually appointed to life time federal judgeships

06-07-23 Why Patagonia helped Samsung redesign the washing machine
Samsung is releasing a wash cycle and a new filter, which will dramatically shrink microfiber pollution.
Eight years ago, Patagonia started to study a little-known environmental problem: With every load of laundry, thousands (even millions) of microfibers, each less than 5 millimeters long, wash down the drain. Some are filtered out at water treatment plants, but others end up in the ocean, where fibers from synthetic fabric make up a surprisingly large amount of plastic pollution—35%, by one estimate. Fragments of your favorite sweatshirt might now be floating in the Arctic Ocean. In a collaboration that began two years ago, the company helped inspire Samsung to tackle the problem by rethinking its washing machines. Today, Samsung unveiled its solution: A new filter that can be added to existing washers and used along with a “Less Microfiber” cycle that Samsung also designed. The combination makes it possible to shrink microfiber pollution by as much as 98%.
[…] Patagonia’s team connected Samsung with Ocean Wise, a nonprofit that tests fiber shedding among its mission to protect and restore our oceans. Samsung shipped some of its machines to Ocean Wise’s lab in Vancouver, where researchers started to study how various parameters change the results. Cold water and less agitation helped—but both of those things can also make it harder to get clothing clean. “There are maybe two ways of increasing the performance of your washing machine,” says Moohyung Lee, executive vice president and head of R&D at Samsung, through an interpreter. “Number one is to use heated water. That will obviously increase your energy consumption, which is a problem. The second way to increase the performance of your washing machine is to basically create stronger friction between your clothes . . . and this friction and abrasion of the fibers is what results in the output of microplastics.” Samsung had already developed a technology called “EcoBubble” to improve the performance of cold-water cycles to help save energy, and it tweaked the technology to specifically tackle microfiber pollution. “It helps the detergent dissolve more easily in water so that it foams better, which means that you don’t need to heat up your water as much, and you don’t need as much mechanical friction, but you still have a high level of performance,” Lee says. The new “Less Microfiber” cycle, which anyone with a Samsung washer can download as an update for their machine, can reduce microfiber pollution by as much as 54%. To tackle the remainder, the company designed a filter that can be added to existing washers at the drain pipe, with pores tiny enough to capture fibers. They had to balance two conflicting needs: They wanted to make it as simple as possible to use, so consumers didn’t have to continually empty the filter, but it was also critical that the filter wouldn’t get clogged, potentially making water back up and the machine stop working. The final design compresses the microfibers, so it only has to be emptied once a month, and sends an alert via an app when it needs to be changed. Eventually, in theory, the fibers that are collected could potentially be recycled into new material rather than put in the trash. (Fittingly, the filter itself is also made from recycled plastic.) When OceanWise tested the cycle and filter together, they confirmed that it nearly eliminated microfiber pollution. Now, Samsung’s challenge is to get consumers to use it. The filter, which is designed to be easily installed on existing machines, is launching now in Korea and will launch in the U.S. and Europe later this year. The cost will vary by market, but will be around $150 in the U.S. The cycle, which began to roll out last year, can be automatically installed on WiFi-connected machines.
#microplastics#textiles#laundry#environmental#science#patagonia#samsung#i'm. so excited.#also i HAD been silently judging patagonia a little for their heavy use of synthetics but. they ARE walking the walk actually.#(will say that ime the feel of natural fibers is just. better.)#(like. wool has an astonishing ability to keep you warm-but-not-sweaty at a bizarrely wide range of temps)#(whereas like. the synthetic fleece tops i still have are like. immediately cozy‚ sure‚ but you WILL get sweaty if you get warm)#(like being in‚ you know‚ a plastic bag!)#(so like. even if they Fix the Microplastics Problem i have no regrets abt switching my allegiance to woolens)#(but. still fucking THRILLED they might fix the microplastics problem.)#does make you feel like. i'm unavoidably a humanities person but. what are humanities ppl doing that matters this much.#like fundamentally if you really want to do good in the world you probably SHOULD become a scientist of some kind.#that said‚ science would almost certainly not be improved by my participating in it‚ so like. what can you do.#really hugely awed by & appreciative of scientists tho.#anyway. obvs this is really just a press release and we gotta see how this plays out but.#!

Taru van den Born is a Dutch blacksmith with a degree in Psychology, who offers training to ND folks, which he believes is therapeutic in many ways. He is doing a wonderful thing for ND folks. Folks like me, as I have ADHD.
I feel the same concepts and benefits could be found in woodworking, or any number of handcrafting/trade fields like smithing and woodworking.
I've certainly found woodoworking immensely beneficial for my ADHD. I didn't even get diagnosed or treated until I was 32. I spent my life before that being terrible at everything, and never sticking with anything for long except music, which I still wasn't very good at. I never understood why and assumed I'd always be a mess. Couldn't even hold a job for very long.
I got into woodworking shortly after getting help for my ADHD. Getting therapy and meds was profoundly life changing. Woodworking (or any craft) is no substitute for proper treatment and I wouldn't be where I am without out the support and good work being done by the docs at the Adult ADHD Clinic at the Hope Centre in North Vancouver. It's the only clinic of it's kind in Canada, a pilot project where adults with ADHD can get help entirely funded by public healthcare.
Woodworking had given me something I can engage with and focus on. I can lose myself in it for hours working on some small detail, existing only in the space between the wood and aris of the chisel. It's grounding, and very gratifying.
It requires a degree of planning and organization. I've gotten a lot of use out of the organization and project management skills I learned in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but also refined those and learned a lot more through woodworking. It's taught me a lot of patience as well.
It's also diverse enough to keep my ADHD brain filled with novelty and change. One day I might be carving dovetails, the next restoring an old tool using electrolysis, the next doing some basic metalworking to make a blade or a thread cutter. There's always new techniques and methods to learn or research to do. Maybe today I'll go down a rabbithole on Victorian furniture decorative carvings, or some obscure facet of making iron age lyres. I've even translated books from Swedish and Finnish just to learn the minutae of Tagelharpa and Jouhikko bowed lyres.
So it gives me a universe of things to explore while staying in orbit around that central point of woodworking.
In the end, I have a physical object I created, or someone else does, but I made it. I can see my progress in physical objective terms. There is something deeply satisfying about that. Its creative but also very functional and practical. I'm engaging my artistic side by making something that is beautiful, or makes beautiful noise. At the same time its something physical which serves a practical purpose.
I never thought I'd be good at anything, but I'm getting good at this, and getting better every day, and that simple thing alone has been so good for my ADHD brain.
Of course, at my job most of my day is just making simple components, customizing doors, or replicating pieces for customers, but its still grounding and satisfying. Sometimes that includes restoring 150 year old doors or replicating Victorian moulding. Replicating or making custom components often requires creativity as I need to work out how to do it, and occasionally design new jigs and guides specific to that component. Sometimes I get to make new tools or equipment, such as a router table, for the shop.
I have to give my company a lot of credit for being a supportive environment that's helped me grow and put up with my constant screwups. This is very much a form of privilege that many of us ND folk can only wish for, and I wish we could all have. Taru van den Born seems to be fostering that kind of environment, which is just as important as any practical skill he might teach there.
I think we all, ND and Normie alike, could learn some things from his example, and I don't just mean how to forge metal.
Anyway thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

Understanding the Water Damage Restoration Process: A Complete Guide
Water damage is one of the most common and costly problems homeowners face. Whether caused by a burst pipe, a leaking roof, or a natural disaster, water can quickly spread through your home, causing significant damage. If you've ever had to deal with water damage, you know how overwhelming it can be. But don’t worry—there’s a solution! In this guide, we’ll walk you through the water damage restoration process and how a professional service like All Season Restoration LLC in Vancouver, USA, can help you get back to normal.
Step 1: Initial Inspection and Assessment
The first thing a restoration company will do is assess the extent of the water damage. They’ll send out a team of experts to thoroughly inspect the affected areas. This isn’t just a quick glance—it involves using specialized tools like moisture meters and infrared cameras to detect hidden water and identify potential problems like mold growth or structural weaknesses.
The team will also determine the category of water involved. Water damage is classified into three categories:
Category 1 (Clean Water): This type comes from a clean source, such as a broken water supply line.
Category 2 (Grey Water): This includes water that has been contaminated but is not highly dangerous, such as from a washing machine or dishwasher.
Category 3 (Black Water): The most dangerous, this comes from sources like sewage backups and can contain harmful bacteria and pathogens.
Understanding the category helps the restoration team decide what methods and equipment are needed for cleanup.
Step 2: Water Removal and Extraction
Once the damage has been assessed, the next step is to remove the standing water. Using powerful industrial-grade water extraction equipment, the restoration team will quickly eliminate the bulk of the water. This is a critical part of the process because it prevents further damage, such as warping, staining, and mold growth.
It’s important to note that this is not something you should try to handle on your own. The professionals have the right equipment to get the job done efficiently and safely.
Step 3: Drying and Dehumidification
After the majority of the water is removed, drying and dehumidification come next. This step can take several days, depending on the severity of the water damage. High-powered air movers and dehumidifiers are placed in the affected areas to speed up the drying process.
Even after the visible water is gone, moisture can still be trapped in carpets, walls, and flooring, making the area a breeding ground for mold. This is why it’s crucial to bring in professionals to ensure that the drying process is thorough.
Step 4: Cleaning and Sanitizing
Water damage, especially from grey or black water sources, can leave behind dirt, bacteria, and other contaminants. After drying, the restoration team will clean and sanitize all affected areas. This step not only ensures your home is safe to live in but also helps prevent future health issues like mold or respiratory problems.
The team uses specialized cleaning agents and techniques to sanitize all surfaces, including carpets, furniture, and personal belongings. If necessary, they may also remove and dispose of items that cannot be salvaged.
Step 5: Restoration and Repairs
The final step in the water damage restoration process is to repair any damage caused to the structure of your home. This can involve anything from replacing drywall and flooring to repairing electrical systems. The goal is to restore your home to its original condition, or even better, by fixing any damage and making necessary upgrades.
This stage can also include painting, installing new carpets, or replacing furniture and appliances. The professionals at All Season Restoration LLC can assist in managing the entire restoration process, ensuring that your home is not only safe but also beautifully restored.
Why Choose All Season Restoration LLC?
Dealing with water damage can be stressful, but having a trusted, experienced company like All Season Restoration LLC on your side can make all the difference. What's Next for TikTok in Canada After U.S. Shutdown?
What's Next for TikTok in Canada After U.S. Shutdown? Following a temporary shutdown in the United States due to government intervention, many are questioning the future of TikTok in Canada. On Sunday, millions of U.S. users were unable to access the app, which was removed from major online stores. TikTok confirmed it was in the process of restoring service, expressing gratitude to President Trump for providing clarity and assurance to service providers. U.S. Developments and Canadian Implications Trump has announced plans to lift the TikTok ban for 90 days upon taking office, allowing ByteDance, TikTok's China-based parent company, extra time to find a buyer for its U.S. operations. This follows a U.S. federal law requiring ByteDance to sever ties with TikTok by January 19 due to national security concerns. TikTok's attempts to contest this law were unsuccessful, with the U.S. Supreme Court upholding the ban on January 17. In Canada, the federal government ordered ByteDance to shut down its TikTok offices in Toronto and Vancouver as part of a national security review initiated in September 2023. Despite this directive, TikTok Canada confirmed that hundreds of full-time employees are still operating from its Canadian offices. Expert Opinions on TikTok's Future Dr. Emily B. Laidlaw, a cybersecurity law expert, finds Canada’s initial approach puzzling, arguing that it complicates enforcement of Canadian laws against TikTok. She emphasizes that the U.S. legislation does not outright ban TikTok but threatens a ban if ByteDance fails to divest. This could set a concerning precedent for global internet policy. While acknowledging legitimate national security risks associated with TikTok—such as extensive data collection—Laidlaw warns against Canada mimicking the U.S. approach. She advocates for more nuanced laws addressing online harms, privacy, and artificial intelligence, rather than a blunt solution like divestiture. TikTok Canada's Challenge In response to the federal order, TikTok Canada is challenging the shutdown, arguing that it would jeopardize the jobs of hundreds of local employees who support a community of over 14 million monthly Canadian users. The company insists it is in the best interests of Canadians to find a meaningful solution to keep its local team intact. To bolster its case, TikTok has committed to increasing transparency regarding its data protection efforts and plans to share more insights about its trust and safety protocols moving forward. Cautions and Concerns Dr. Nur Zincir-Heywood, a computer science expert, highlights the risks associated with TikTok, particularly regarding data privacy and security. She likens the app to a "balcony" that offers an enticing view but is inherently unsafe. Zincir-Heywood supports the federal government’s decision to ban TikTok from government-issued devices and believes Canada should align more closely with the U.S. stance on the platform. As TikTok navigates this complex landscape, the implications for its future in Canada remain uncertain, hinging on both legal challenges and ongoing discussions about data security and national interests. Maintain Your Vehicle’s Shine with BClean: Vancouver’s Premier Hand Car Wash and Detailing Service
Keeping your car clean and well-maintained is more than just a matter of aesthetics—it’s an investment in your vehicle’s longevity and value. In a city like Vancouver, where unpredictable weather and urban grime can take a toll on your vehicle, car wash detailing has become an essential service. But what exactly is car wash detailing, and why is it so important? This guide will tell you everything you need to know about car wash detailing in Vancouver and why services like BClean Mobile Car Detailing stand out.

What Is Car Wash Detailing?
Car wash detailing is a comprehensive cleaning and restoration process designed to enhance both the appearance and condition of your vehicle. Unlike a basic car wash, which focuses mainly on removing surface dirt from your car’s exterior, detailing goes deeper. It involves meticulous cleaning, polishing, and protection for every part of your vehicle—inside and out.
Detailing services typically include:
Exterior Detailing: Washing, waxing, polishing, and paint protection to restore your car’s shine and protect it from the elements.
Interior Detailing: Deep cleaning of carpets, seats, and upholstery, along with sanitizing surfaces to create a fresh, clean cabin.
Specialized Treatments: Services like ceramic coating, headlight restoration, and engine bay cleaning.
The goal of detailing isn’t just cleanliness but to bring your vehicle as close to showroom condition as possible.
Why Is Car Wash Detailing Important in Vancouver?
Vancouver is known for its rainy weather, coastal salt air, and urban dust—all of which can wreak havoc on your vehicle. Regular detailing helps combat these elements, ensuring your car stays in top condition.
Paint ProtectionThe frequent rain in Vancouver can lead to water spots and mineral deposits on your car’s paint. Over time, this can cause fading or corrosion. Detailing services like waxing or applying a ceramic coating create a protective barrier, shielding your car from water, UV rays, and environmental pollutants.
Interior MaintenanceThe damp climate can lead to moisture buildup inside your car, which might cause mold and unpleasant odors. Interior detailing removes dirt, moisture, and bacteria, ensuring your car’s interior remains fresh and hygienic.
Resale ValueIf you plan to sell or trade in your car, regular detailing is a great way to maintain its value. A well-maintained, clean car always fetches a higher price compared to one that looks worn and neglected.
What to Look for in a Car Wash Detailing Service
Not all detailing services are created equal, so it’s important to choose one that meets your needs. Here are some key factors to consider:
Experience and ExpertiseLook for a company with trained technicians who understand the nuances of detailing. BClean, for example, has years of experience and a reputation for high-quality service in Vancouver.
Eco-Friendly PracticesIn a city that values sustainability, eco-friendly car detailing services are a must. BClean uses biodegradable cleaning products and water-saving techniques, so you can feel good about reducing your environmental impact.
Comprehensive ServicesChoose a detailing service that offers a range of options, from quick washes to full interior and exterior detailing. Services like engine bay cleaning, paint correction, and ceramic coating can be invaluable for long-term car maintenance.
ConvenienceMobile car detailing services like BClean bring the car wash to you, whether you’re at home or work. This saves you time and makes maintaining your vehicle easier than ever.
Why BClean Is Vancouver’s Top Choice for Car Wash Detailing
BClean Mobile Car Detailing has earned its reputation as one of Vancouver’s best detailing services, and for good reason:
Mobile ConvenienceWith BClean, you don’t have to waste time driving to a car wash or waiting in line. Their team comes to your location fully equipped to handle all your detailing needs.
Attention to DetailEvery car is unique, and BClean’s technicians take the time to tailor their services to your vehicle. Whether it’s a quick hand wash or a complete detailing package, you can expect meticulous care.
Eco-Friendly ApproachBClean prioritizes sustainability by using environmentally friendly cleaning products and techniques. This means your car gets a spotless clean without harming the planet.
Positive Customer ReviewsBClean’s commitment to quality has earned them glowing reviews from Vancouver residents. Customers frequently praise their professionalism, attention to detail, and exceptional results.
How Often Should You Get Your Car Detailed?
The frequency of detailing depends on your driving habits, the weather, and how you use your car. As a general rule:
Exterior Detailing: Every 2-4 months to protect your car’s paint and finish.
Interior Detailing: At least twice a year, or more often if you have kids, pets, or allergies.
Comprehensive Detailing: Annually, to give your car a deep clean and refresh.
DIY vs. Professional Detailing
While some car owners prefer to handle cleaning themselves, professional detailing offers several advantages:
Expertise: Professionals know the best techniques and products to use on your vehicle.
Time-Saving: Detailing is a time-consuming process, and hiring experts lets you focus on other tasks.
Better Results: Professional-grade equipment and products ensure a level of cleanliness and protection that’s hard to achieve on your own.
Conclusion
Car wash detailing is more than just a luxury—it’s an essential part of maintaining your vehicle’s beauty and value. In a city like Vancouver, where the weather can be tough on cars, services like BClean Mobile Car Detailing provide the perfect solution.
Whether you’re looking to protect your paint, refresh your interior, or simply enjoy a cleaner, more polished vehicle, BClean has the expertise, eco-friendly practices, and customer-focused approach to deliver outstanding results.

Winter Life on a Small Island on the West Coast of Canada
I live on a small island on the west coast of Canada. A Mecca for boaters, a summer retreat for many, (when our population soars to 12,000-13,000 from the usual 4500 permanent dwellers), it’s a different story in the winter months. Last week the vaunted “bomb cyclone” blew through, leaving around 150,000 people ‘powerless’ on Vancouver Island, and the many small Gulf Islands.
Vancouver Island is the size of England, but the population is a mere approximate 864,000. This means that, with the exception of a few larger communities, we are scattered and remote. Some communities require people to drive on dirt logging roads, like the one below, while others are one ferry, (or more) away from the main island. To reach one of our nearby islands, crews had to be barged over, (as it’s not serviced by a ferry).

Because there was a warning, our publicly owned utility company was able to bring trucks and crews from other parts of BC in advance of the storm. This was necessary because at one point all ferries were cancelled due to the 160km winds, (105mph for American readers). Some crews drove 4-5 hours, then took a 2 hour ferry to get to Vancouver Island, then were deployed to smaller communities, up to 5 hours away from their ferry landing, or to small islands. I’m sure it was an experience for all!
These crews worked tirelessly. Major centres were up first, but our little island sustained so much damage that at one point we had 15 trucks over here. You would see the Hydro, (electric company), trucks zigzagging with the tree removal people. The volunteer fire department was out and about, manning the station, (as we lost cell service as well for a day), helping to remove trees, and putting up caution tape around downed wires. These are some views from my little neighbourhood:

For 5 days the sound of chainsaws filled the air. Crews were working 16 hour days, then they sent over 3 more crews to work through the night. November is the wettest month of the year here on the coast, as well as being dark and cold, so residents were out in force offering warm drinks and warm food to the hard working crews.
Being on a small island, we are somewhat prepared for these events. Many people have wood stoves to keep heat on, many have natural gas stoves, (although it’s run on propane here), so they can cook on the stovetop. Everyone has lanterns and candles. Some have generators. We have a trailer, that has a generator, so after a few days without power, we decamped there for a few hours one morning, enjoying filtered coffee and heat. It felt quite luxurious.
Another thing about living in a small, close knit community is the generosity of neighbours, and the communication. We have a few Facebook groups, but the one I belong to was being constantly updated, by our elected RDN official, (kudos to Vanessa Craig), by the volunteer fire department, and by residents who would post when their power was restored, so we could follow the progress. People with power were offering showers, heat, and hot food to others did not yet have power. One couple who were stuck in Vancouver, asked people to stop by their place to see if it was okay, (no trees on the building). They put their address in the social media group, and many of us went by to check, (it was fine), and reported back. No one looted the house. Now, I’m not sure I personally would post my address in a public forum, but this entire experience showed in the best of humanity.

Despite gas rationing at the island’s only gas station, as of today, (Monday), they had run out of regular and premium gas. With one “dangerous cargo” sailing per week, that means no gas on the island until Wednesday afternoon. Fortunately, there are many gas stations in Nanaimo…and the ferries are running!

The Importance of Structural Drying in Water Damage Restoration
Water damage can be a homeowner's worst nightmare. Whether it’s caused by a burst pipe, a leaking roof, or flooding, the aftermath of water damage can be overwhelming. One of the most crucial steps in the water damage restoration process is structural drying. But why is structural drying so important, and how does it make a difference in preventing long-term damage? Let’s break it down.
What is Structural Drying?
In the simplest terms, structural drying is the process of drying out the building materials and contents of your home after water damage occurs. This includes drying out walls, floors, ceilings, insulation, and even subflooring. While it may seem like a straightforward task, it involves a careful, strategic approach to ensure every inch of your property is fully dried. Without proper drying, moisture can remain trapped inside your walls and other structures, leading to further complications.
Why Structural Drying is Crucial
Prevent Mold Growth One of the biggest concerns after water damage is the potential for mold growth. Mold thrives in moist, warm environments. If structural drying is delayed or incomplete, trapped moisture creates the perfect breeding ground for mold and mildew. This can lead to significant health risks, especially for those with respiratory issues or allergies. A thorough drying process helps prevent mold from taking hold, protecting both your home and your health.
Protect the Structural Integrity of Your Home Water can weaken the very foundation of your home. If building materials like wood, drywall, or insulation remain wet for too long, they can start to warp, rot, or deteriorate. The longer moisture lingers, the more costly the repairs will be. Structural drying helps to preserve the integrity of your home, ensuring that the framework, floors, and walls remain strong and safe.
Prevent Secondary Water Damage Moisture that isn’t fully removed can seep into areas that were not initially affected. For example, water can travel down walls into your flooring or through the ceiling to your downstairs rooms. By thoroughly drying the structure, you can prevent secondary water damage and avoid the need for additional repairs down the line.
Restore Your Home to Its Pre-Damage Condition When done correctly, structural drying can return your home to its pre-damage state, both in terms of appearance and function. The quicker you can get the drying process started, the less time your home will spend in a vulnerable state. This is especially important if you plan to sell or rent your property, as the restoration of your home’s structural integrity will increase its value and appeal.
Speed Up the Insurance Claims Process Insurance companies typically want to see that proper steps have been taken to mitigate further damage. By starting structural drying immediately, you not only minimize the risk of additional damage but also provide evidence that you’ve done everything you can to prevent a worsening situation. This can make your insurance claims process smoother and quicker.

While you might be tempted to dry things out yourself, structural drying is best left to the professionals.
