Chapter One -- A Wolf in the sheets

It was a beautiful January morning—the first of the month to be specific—and the only day Deluca refused to take cases. Yet there he sat, in his favorite coffeehouse bordering the Canalasso, staring at a quickly cooling cup on his table, wincing for the shouts in his ear, Do they know when I order, or have I scorned more witches than I remember?

Rubbing his brow, he informed the shouts—his contact with local human authorities and a man he knew too well—that he was bothering a detective for Hunter work, “Sono un detective, sergente, non un cacciatore.”

The man was not amused by his levity, “So fucking detect!”

Smiling for the anger, and switch in language, Deluca chose to tease it into a rage. Swallowing a sip of cooler coffee, he cooed salaciously deep and echoing—with suggestion—into his phone, “make me.”

Small the gasp, bitten quick, but heard—enjoyed—before the man growled, “Andiamo, Del, sono i tuoi—” the smoke-choked voice coughed, tried again, “I don’t know if they’re vampires, werewolves or just creatures, but they’re yours and this is what you do, isn’t it? Why you’re not hunted by the Co—”

Cutting the man off with a pointed scoff before he could finish the sentence and further ruin his coffee, Deluca didn’t speak the curses bubbling to follow. He left the angry—frustrated—poliziotto to clear his lungs and whisper to the softer voice heard through the connection. As the man apologized for the switch to a language his wife didn’t understand, Deluca scanned the delicate lighting of the coffeehouse.

My Vampire OC Floyd Nightshade

I am currently working on a novel and film called Vampire Detective. It's about a vampire who happens to be a detective in the Victorian era. This is my original character, Floyd Nightshade. He is intelligent, sarcastic, arrogant, charming, introverted, cynical, and gets a sick thrill out of killing people in a Jack the Ripper sort of way, but deep down he's noble and passionate about solving crimes. He has a distorted view of justice, he spares the innocent, but kills the guilty and he knows how to get away with murder. He goes by the nickname The Prince of Death. He loves all things dark and macabre. He's also a fan of Edgar Allen Poe.

Today's comic is not about Millie and Prudence. I thought I'd give them a brief break and see what the Vampire Police Detective and his wife were up to. Evidently, it's about their cat, Fluffy. The first time I did this, the cat was black and then I thought if someone reads the comic and see why it's named Fluffy and there is a black cat, it didn't make sense, so I had to change it to a white cat. And yes, it is wearing a crucifix around it neck. I suspect I'll answer why Fluffy is wearing a crucifix at a later date.

Sooooooo...given that 'vampire detective' is a popular enough character archetype to have a trope named after it, and just how many adaptations there have been of Sherlock Holmes over the years (including THAT one)...

Why haven't we gotten vampire! Sherlock Holmes yet????!?

NEW! CHAPTER - The Last Drop 🩸

Four years after the train crash that nearly ended his life and resulted in the death of his beloved wife. Detective James Barlowe is assigned a new case that will forever change his life. Thrown into a world he never believed existed.

James opened his eyes and looked around. He felt as though his body had been ripped apart and poorly stitched back together. He peeled his head off the snow to reveal a small pool of blood that had formed where his head once lay. He felt his forehead, he could feel that his right eyebrow had been gashed open. Disoriented, he tried to pull himself to his feet only to stumble into the snow. James lay back in the snow in defeat, he knew he had a few broken ribs. He sat up to see what was left of the train. Chaos had broken loose on the train. Man had turned against man and the only thing that had stopped the bloodshed was the explosion. The explosion in the car in front of them had derailed the train, leaving little to no survivors. Still deafened by the explosion, his ears still ringing. James groaned as he pulled himself to his feet. He could see a body laying in the snow in the distance. The snow was a few feet high. He struggled to push through the powdered snow that felt like razor blades against his skin. As he got closer, he soon realized it was Dawn. Laying in the snow, the white flakes were now painted with blood that surrounded her body. James crawled toward her body and pulled her into his embrace as he wept. Moving strands of her black hair out of her face, still wet from laying in the snow. He begged and pleaded for her to wake up. They ended up having to drag him away. He had fought hard to let her go and it took four men to drag him into the ambulance. James had survived the crash with a handful of others. He had never considered his house a home without the presence of Dawn. James had found himself in his therapist's office. Laying on a chaise lounge as his therapist told him the news. He had been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. He thought his career was over, with such a diagnosis under his belt. He would be forced to sit at a desk for the rest of his life. He wasn't going to let that happen and ended up bribing his therapist in return for keeping his secret. His therapist deemed him happy and healthy. In perfect psychological health to return to work. James awoke gasping and panting, he looked up to see Dawn towering over him.

"Have you sobered up yet?" Dawn asked, "I see you slept on the floor..." She laughed and offered him her hand.

James groaned as he reached out and took her hand. Dawn helped him to his feet and walked around him. She sniffed him and looked at him disgusted. James lifted his arm and smelt his underarms, not fazed by his own odour.

"You smell like you just crawled out of a cemetery..." Dawn told him.

I'm glad that I've gotten into Asian dramas later than others because I have more series to discover and enjoy. Considering that I work from home, and I like having something to do in downtime or pleasant background noises, this is perfect for me. Today, I decided to type "vampire" in the search bar of my drama site. The poster for Vampire Detective caught my attention, and so did the trailer.😁

I am still looking for Moonlight promos and commercials when I can but it's gotten pretty hard recently (if anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it)

Bloodhound -- lonely at 35k feet

Tears soaked his cheeks as he ran through airport doors, slipping without notice through security. A lack of funding meant they had yet to erect barriers to detect vampires, resulting in a few planes landing full of corpses—one of which would get up later and avoid the blame. Deluca had thoughts on it, how it jeopardized his efforts for balance being the loudest, but just then he was grateful.

As it meant he got to an open counter with time to spare, informing the chipper young woman at it, “I called ahead, next flight to Greece, private cabin?”

“Yes, sir,” eerie her manner, her eyes, reminding of thralls. Yet he knew no vampires in such a position to own an entire airport, and her thoughts sang of weariness—dealing with all manner of things on little pay and too many hours, an empty stare was to be expected.

She ushered him through the loading doors, waving to him as he stepped onto a set of stairs too pink and mobile. Similar to the train constructs, the flying ones also required entry through the mouth. He hated it, every time, the sensation of being swallowed by a massive beast was not one which interested him.

The beast itself did, however, and he enjoyed watching them fly through the sky whenever he had the opportunity. Grand birds were a favorite for the autoplanes, but the one swallowing him at the moment was a dragon. Or, the shape humans assumed they came in—there were stories of real ones being quite different, but he’d never met one.

Not much of a view inside, beyond the sky itself and a flash of flapping metal shining far too bright—from the gold of its flesh and the shimmerstones embedded in it for visibility at night.

One might wonder of pilots, as one might have wondered of drivers, and those did exist. In a fashion. The autoplanes required someone knowledgeable in construct behavior and flight patterns of various birds—or things behaving enough like them—in case the thing decided it wanted to go another way. A worry, that, when dealing with semi-sentience. Same for drivers, of course, but far fewer casualties resulted in a confused elephant moving so slowly everyone could jump out of or away from it. A massive flapping monstrosity bigger than the average skyscraper and filled to the brim with life? Not so much.

Nestled in the spine, just above the tail, Deluca’s cabin was luxurious. Typically, when he needed to fly somewhere, he chose a nice seat in the chest with enough people about to pick one or two terrified and death-hungry ones off as needed—his healing tongue making it appear a heart attack until autopsied.

So he’d not seen the private cabins.

It contained a wide window, with a unique view, a small bed and its own fridge, which allowed him to store the blood bags he found in his duffel while re-packing—from Alessandro, a note explained. Sigils kept the bags preserved, but with all the ones keeping the dragon in flight...he didn’t want to risk an increase in his appetite.

“He’s too thoughtful,” he told them as he set them inside, addressing his ring, “yet I’m certain, my love, that it isn’t an affection to worry of. Friendship, at most...even with all else we’ve been.” It rang, even to his ears, as trying too hard but he couldn’t think of better words to explain it. “How you’d hate this,” he continued to one who wasn’t there as he looked out the window to the drop of blue, “so high up...but perhaps, with me close, it wouldn’t frighten as much.”

Sighing, eyeing his watch, and grabbing a blood bag Deluca laid on the bed and stared up at the rounded ceiling—and softly shimmering stones embedded in it.

“I’ll take you in one,” he promised the ring, and the itch he was glad not to feel, “when I have you again, we’ll make the sky ours as thoroughly as we did the sea.”

Stuffing the empty bag into the provided trash, he rolled to his side and curled into himself, “Calabria should have ignited me, my love, spurred me towards grander ideas to free you and,” curling tighter, he whimpered, “instead I am lonelier and I fell, too easily I fell, into a lie of you. Will I still be your perfect treasure when you return?” Tears fell with greater whimpers, forcing the rest to thoughts, will you even want me...

Hi queer fans of queer stuff! How are we feeling with today's TV industry? How about really bloody angry?

Look, the recent cancelation of Dead Boy Detectives is obviously personal for its fandom, but it's also one more nail in the coffin and I think we have to start doing something about it together.

I went through this with Sense8. With Our Flag Means Death. With smaller but also amazing shows like The Bastard Son and the Devil Himself. Not to mention when it's not cancelled yet but it's boycotted with seasons cut in half or zero marketing. *I am tired*.

If you are too, I ask you to join the campaign. This is specifically about increasing views and attention, not because Netflix is necessarily going to change their minds (we know that's unlikely), but because we want to prove that we exist as a group.

So even if you don't feel like actually watching right now, we ask you to give it a stream if you have a Netflix account, with headphones connected or low volume. If you don't have a Netflix account, and honestly good for you, you can help by boosting us in social media.

I do recommend Dead Boy Detectives for real, it's REALLY good, but this is more about joining forces. They want numbers, so we give them numbers in the most petty way: after they cancelled so that other networks will get interested. At the very least, the crew and creators might get some royalties and they deserve it after busting their asses for years to give us this season.

TL;DR: stream dead boy detectives as a community to shove it in their faces
